LIVE: MAKANDIWA WIFE IN HORROR ACCIDENT SAME SPORT TALENT CHIWENGA CRASHED INTO TEACHER MADZINGIRA

NATIONAL, BUSINESS, BREAKING

VIDEO LOADING BELOW….

By Jane Mlambo| United Family International Church (UFIC) leader Emmanuel Makandiwa’s wife, Ruth Makandiwa was on Wednesday afternoon involved in a head-on collision with a vehicle which deliberately drove into her lane along Harare Chegutu road.

It is reported that Ruth who was travelling with all her children in the same car while her security vehicle was following behind.

She was driving from Harare and as they passed Norton just a kilometer before the tollgate, a gold Jeep Grand Cherokee came speeding towards her vehicle in a one-way dual lane, ignoring hooters and warnings from other motorists in broad daylight.

Norton tollgate where the self proclaimed ‘Apostle’ Talent Chiwenga also crashed into a vehicle last year, has become a black spot due to lack of clear road markings indicating how vehicles proceed after paying road user fees at the plaza.

Apparently the security team identified a Ford Ranger with South African registration numbers following them from the Kuwadzana round about.

They even stopped at some point to give it a chance to overtake but the driver of the Ford ranger would also reduce speed and remain behind them.

Ruth Makandiwa’s vehicle is said to have tried to dodge the oncoming car by opening the right lane to the left and just at that time strangely, the Ford ranger stayed adjacent to her car on the left before stopping in the middle of the road (white lane).

The security vehicle following behind skidded off the road to avoid hitting the Prophetess car and the Ford Ranger stationed in front and they veered off and stopped on the left side of the forest after they also avoided the Jeep that had missed their leader but did not overturn.

The Jeep then immediately sped off as security came rushing back onto the road on foot from the forest, raising questions in the Makandiwa camp as to whether this was an innocent mistake and the jeep still proceeded in that same wrong lane or if it was yet another attempt on their lives.

Amazingly, just across the road the Ford was seen going back now facing Norton’s direction
meaning it never crossed the tollgate.

All information was given to Norton police and they are trying to retrieve the camera footage at the tollgate.

Woman Reports Rape Ordeal 20yrs Later

By A Correspondent- A 27 year old woman, who was allegedly raped on several occasions by her cousin 20 years ago, has reported him to the police after the rape ordeal traumatised her, causing her to break up with every man that she fell in love with.

According to a source close to investigations, the woman who is now 27 years old, was sexually violated sometime in 2001 up to 2002 by her cousin who was 17 years old at the time.

She stayed with her grandmother and her cousin in Zvishavane.

The privy source said her unsuspecting paternal grandmother would leave her in the care of her 17-year-old cousin.

“Her cousin would call her to his bedroom hut in the evening and rape her and would sexually assault her whenever her grandmother left them alone at their homestead,” said the source.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a family member said whenever their granny travelled, he would sexually assault her.

“Fearing that he could impregnate her, her cousin would use a condom and rape her during the night and sternly warn her not to disclose the ordeal to anyone,” said the family source.

The family insider said the then seven-year-old minor kept the matter to herself, but it traumatised her causing her to face problems in her relationships.

However, last week she decided to divulge the traumatising secret to her aunt.

Her aunt advised her to report the matter to the police and she reported the rape ordeal at Bulawayo Central Police Station. She was referred to United Bulawayo Hospital (UBH) for counseling.

Police are now hunting down the alleged rapist.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident:

“I can confirm that we are investigating an alleged rape case where a woman was raped while she was seven years old and the matter traumatised her for two decades causing her to report to the police last week. We would like to urge members of the community not to sweep such matters under the carpet but report the matter while it is still fresh.”

Woman Brings Boyfriends Home

By A Correspondent- A man from Tshabalala suburb was left with no choice, but to approach the courts after his wife shamed him by bringing her boyfriends to their matrimonial home and assaulted him whenever he asked why she brought her lovers to their home.

Nhlanhla Ndlovu initially bottled the issue and suffered in silence, but he plucked up courage and asked his wife Memory Moyo why she brought her boyfriends to their home.

He never knew that he had courted trouble for himself as his wife hurled insults at him and would assault him with fists in front of her boyfriends.

To add salt to the wound, his wife would threaten to have him arrested. And he had to endure that toxic situation for more than four weeks.

Last week on Monday he had to overcome fear and headed to Western Commonage Court to seek a protection order against his wife, who physically, emotionally and verbally abuses him.

The distraught Ndlovu said: “I’m applying for a protection order against my wife Memory Moyo.

“She is physically, verbally and emotionally abusing me. She is in the habit of assaulting me in front of her boyfriends.”

Ndlovu said when he confronts her she would get angry and launch verbal attacks at him.

“She would get angry and insult me in the presence of her boyfriends, she has been doing this for more than a month. Surprisingly she would threaten to get me arrested for no apparent reason.

“May the court assist me by stopping her from bringing her boyfriends to our matrimonial home and order her not to insult and assault me,” begged Nhlanhla.

The unshaken Memory said: “I only brought one boyfriend to our matrimonial home and my husband knows him.

And I only assaulted him when he asked where I was because I had told him before I left that I was going to visit my boyfriend.”

The presiding magistrate Jeconia Prince Ncube granted Ndlovu the protection order against Memory.

The magistrate ordered her to stop bringing her boyfriends home and refrain from physically, emotionally and verbally abusing her husband.

He also bemoaned the inability to resolve political differences in a mature and civilised manner. President Chamisa was commenting on the conviction of human rights activist and MDC Alliance Youth Assembly member Makomborero Haruvizishe.

“Our inability to resolve our differences peacefully and fix broken politics is costing us opportunities to make Zimbabwe great in our lifetime.

ED must accept and embrace diversity and differences.

Diversity is the substance of all human existence. Stop persecuting dissent.

Dissent strengthens. Differences make us better. Diversity is profitable! #differentisbeautiful,” President Chamisa wrote on Twitter.

Zanu PF Dangled Money On ‘Home-seeking’ Bhebhe

Former Nkayi South MP Abednico Bhebhe (MDC Alliance) was allegedly approached by Zanu-PF officials who dangled money to entice him to join the ruling party.

The claim was made by former Zanu-PF politburo member Jonathan Moyo, who alleged that a ruling party’s top executive in the Midlands province, whose name has been withheld, had approached Bhebhe with the offer.

“He (the provincial executive) was recently rebuffed by Abednico Bhebhe, who has rejoined MDC Alliance,” Moyo claimed in a tweet.

Bhebhe yesterday could neither confirm nor deny the issue to NewsDay, saying his life was in danger. He said he was receiving “disturbing” calls over the matter, hence could not shed more light.

“Unfortunately, I am receiving some disturbing phone calls because of that, so I won’t comment any further,” the former MDC-T organising secretary said.

“If you read the finer details on my statement, you will see the answer,” he told NewsDay.

In a statement he sent to NewsDay, Bhebhe hinted that there were some opposition officials who fell for “Zanu-PF trinkets”.

“In that same interview, I posed the rhetoric question: Are you available to the highest bidder? Does it mean if Zanu-PF offers more than the MDC is prepared to give, then you will join them?’ At that time, I was neither prophetic nor even thinking it possible that some of our colleagues, not one or two, but a horde of them would indeed rejoin Zanu-PF after all what it (Zanu-PF) has done to this country,” Bhebhe said.

“As a mature politician, I will not be tempted to say I told you so. I believe that it is my duty to en-gage fellow comrades genuinely and truthfully all the time. And I have always done so,” he said.

Several former MDC officials including ex-Kwekwe Central MP Blessing Chebundo, former MDC Alliance deputy treasurer-general Lillian Timveos, among others, have since joined Zanu-PF and were recently paraded at State House by Mnangagwa.

Zanu-PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo rubbished claims that the ruling party was using money to lure opposition figures.

“That is hogwash,” Moyo said.

Zanu-PF Midlands provincial chairperson Daniel Mackenzie

Ncube could not be reached for comment as his mobile phone went unanswered yesterday. Recently, MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere claimed that Zanu-PF was cloning their party cards and T-shirts to portray a picture that several people from the Nelson Chamisa-led opposition were defecting to Zanu-PF.

“Political Crisis Looming Ahead of The 2023 Polls”

The once prosperous southern African country’s economy is now at its weakest point with low investment, low exports and very high debts. Corruption is ripping the country apart with little effort being done to eradicate it.

By Leonard Koni- The current state of the economic situation on the ground is the worst ever experienced in Zimbabwe since independence. A protest vote is likely to take the centre stage. Most people’s hearts are bleeding over the injustices being meted on the opposition.

The main Zimbabwean opposition party has started mobilising for he 2023 election and it looks like there shall be no any kind of a dialogue between the two giant political parties Zanu PF and MDC -Alliance.

The One Million Campaign is likely to recruit more cadresThe MDC Alliance is also mobilizing the citizens for a grand convergence for change under the people’s agenda, reform agenda, governance agendabroad and global agenda.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa who declared himself as the listening President promised the nation a smooth freedom of speech but three years into power he is reversing the promise and considering enacting and introducing the Patriotic bill which is an attempt at silencing free speech and criticism of the President and the government.

The repealed draconian Aippa is being smuggled back under the disguise of the Patriotic bill worst than the later.

Opposition members are still being treated as enemies of the state and are subject to arbitrary arrests torture, harassment and are incarcerated left, right and centre for being the voice of the voiceless.

The sun does not go down without hearing the abuse or arrest of an opposition figure.
On Wednesday people woke up on the breaking news that Makomborero Haruzivishe has been convicted of a charge of inciting violence whilst the abductors of Tendai Muchehiwa using Impala Car Rental are known and were captured by CCTV but not arrests were made.
Makomborero Haruzivishe is now waiting for his sentence on Tuesday. This has riled anger from the main opposition which is angry on the government’s selective application of the law and gross abuse of human rights.

This selective application of the law has become the order of the day under the tutelage of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government.

One of the most politically conscious song, from Leonard Zhakata ‘Mubikira’ where he accurately describes the vindictiveness of this lot and touches heavily on selective application of the law sums it all.

These are the pointers of a failed state where it channels all its resources and waste tax payers’ monies on hunting down political activists who are asking for good and better governance.

The government’s continued ill treating of members of the opposition and deliberately ignoring top government officials who were caught red handed abusing Covid19 money and smuggling gold is really a cause of concern.

Its not a surprise that Zimbabwe is now terribly ranked at 157th out of 180 countries in the Corruption Perceptions Index.

Whilst the economic growth has stalled President Emmerson Mnangagwa must focus on rebuilding the torn country which he was part and parcel since 1963.

Man Thrashed By In-laws In Front Of Police Officers Over Lobola

By A Correspondent- A Bulawayo man was mercilessly thrashed by his in-laws before they took away his wife and three children because he had not paid lobola.

As if the accusations that he was enjoying their daughter’s affection without giving them their dues as an appreciation for raising a woman who bore him three children was not enough, Hlebiso Ndhlovu from Northvale suburb was also accused of infecting his wife Patience Zifodya with a sexually transmitted infection (STIs).

This emerged at the Bulawayo Civil Court where Ndhlovu was suing his mother-in-law, Lorinah Zifodya from Queens Park West for disturbing his peace by constantly harassing him over unpaid lobola and infecting their daughter with an STI.

He said his in-laws turned him into a subject of ridicule when they attacked him in full view of police officers, who instead of rescuing him, laughed at him.

“I am applying for a protection order against Lorinah Zifodya who is my mother-in-law. She is violent against me, my children and wife. On 6 October last year she came to my house and took my wife and three children because I had not paid lobola.

“She teamed up with her husband Richard Zifodya and assaulted me at the police station. While assaulting me my mother-in-law was shouting on top of her voice accusing me of not paying lobola and infecting her daughter with an STI. This was because I had demanded that my wife and children should come and stay with me,” complained Ndhlovu.

He said his mother-in-law was also coming to his place threatening him with an unspecified action. He insisted that his in-laws should not refuse to recognise him as their son-in-law.

“I didn’t refuse to pay lobola, but it is my belief that the issue should be negotiated amicably. For the past 10 years I had been married to their daughter I wanted to pay lobola, but I’m no longer trusting them because of the harassment they subjected me to when my firstborn child passed on in August 2011,” said Ndhlovu.

In her response through her lawyer, the mother-in-law vehemently denied all the allegations levelled against her.

“Each and every allegation made thereon is vehemently denied. I never at any point physically and emotionally abused him, his wife and children. The application is intended in abusing the State’s limited resources in settling his personal vendetta.

“The applicant and his wife are not in good books. Last year applicant was claiming custody of the children and his application was dismissed. Averments sought by the applicant does not tally with the relief being sought.

“He just wants custody of the minor children and he should prove the existence of any form of violence and repeated acts of emotional violence. The lack of the necessary averments means applicant is not entitled to the relief that he seeks,” responded Lorinah through her lawyer.

She said Ndhlovu has been a very irresponsible father as he was squandering his income on his own while neglecting his minor children.

In her judgment presiding magistrate Nkosinomusa Ncube ruled:

“Applicant’s application falls out of the armbit of a protection order, but is instead actually an application for custody. He is advised to approach the Juvenile Court which is specifically structured and sensitive to issues relating to children and it has the jurisdiction to order who will be the custodian of the children”.

The magistrate subsequently dismissed Ndhlovu’s application.

Susan Mutami Is Mnangagwa’s Girlfriend Since 17 Yrs Old, Family Sources Allege.

By London Correspondent | Temba Mliswa’s ex girlfriend, Susan Mutami is ZANU PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa’s girlfriend of many years since when she was 17 close family sources say.

The sources corroborate with Susan’s own claims over several years to date. The revelations were blown up when her relationship with the Norton MP burst up early Feb 2021, when also her links with State Security minister Owen Mudha Ncube were exposed.

Miss Mutami was eventually stopped from flying out of Zimbabwe for Australia on the 18th Feb and told that she would be a state witness in the case that she accuses the MP of possessing insider knowledge of the terror bombing the White City stadium back in 2018.

“She was impregnated by ED at 17, then aborted, and these are the events that led her and her mother to be flown out of Zimbabwe to Australia,” a close family told ZimEye.

ZimEye reached out to Susan Mutami’s mother, who put the phone down upon answering it.

ZimEye also sought for a comment from Mr Mnangagwa who has not responded to this day.

Her whereabouts have remained a mystery ever since amid allegations that she is being kept at a posh house in an unnamed upmarket surbub in Harare. To this day, her Zimbabwean number has remained disconnected for over 6-weeks although her Twitter account keeps being updated with text without any videos or pictures. -WHERE DO YOU THINK SUSAN IS?

“Informal Sector Is 70% GPD But Remitting Paltry 1% In Taxes” – Get Nothing From Taxing Imaginary Wealth, Common Sense

By Patrick Guramatunhu- “Shocking evidence of tax leakages hogged the limelight this week, with Finance and Economic Development minister Mthuli Ncube saying the informal sector, which makes up 70% of Zimbabwe’s gross domestic product (GDP), was remitting less than 1% in taxes,” wrote Eddie Cross.

“This explains why the ailing economy has been struggling with crumbling public infrastructure, while social security interventions are grounded. It also reveals how a cluster of interventions unveiled three years ago to pin the informal sector to pay taxes failed to yield results.”

There is nothing shocking about the informal sector contributing only a paltry 1% in collected revenue. Most of the people in the informal sector live from hand to mouth selling tomatoes, airtime and all manner of trinkets by the roadside. Most of these people are not earning enough to pay for their basic needs and should be on social welfare support.

However, this government has revalued the informal sector for the purpose of boosting the nation’s GPD and so came up with the result of 70% GDP is the informal sector. And the regime even devise ways of collecting tax from the informal sector.

So, 70% of Zimbabwe’s GPD is contributing a paltry 1% in tax; this must be yet another world record!

Zimbabwe’s economy shrunk by a record 50% in the period 2000 to 2008. The country’s inflation peaked at 500 billion percent in 2008, a world record for a country not at war, on the back of the collapsed agricultural sector and the regime’s voodoo-economic policy of printing money to bankrolling its reckless spending.

The Zimbabwe economy had been “ailing” because of decades of Zanu PF gross mismanagement and rampant corruption and the economic chaos of 2000 to 2008 delivered the knockout punch from which it has never recovered.

Indeed, it is now clear Zimbabwe’s economy will never recover, as long as the country remains a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs who rig elections to stay in power.

The truth is there is no wealth in the informal sector and the claim it is contributing 70% GPD is just an outrageous claim. The informal sector is failing to contribute even 1% in tax revenue because you cannot collect tax from an imaginary resource much less use the imaginary tax to bankroll economic recovery.

“Who Are The Matabeles?”

By T D MkwananziThe Matabele were once feared, adored and hated and now they are discriminated against.

Why are they hated so? They are hated by the west as the Jews whom Constantine described as “odious people”, so by extension are also odious people to the west and its allies and the west’s proxies in Africa and elsewhere.

What is common between the Matabele and the Hebrew that inspires hatred from other people? The world sat in comfortable silence while the Matabele suffered genocide at the hands of the British her allies and her proxy the Zimbabwe government.

The world led by the former colonial power and perennial war enemy Britain, continues to block efforts at obtaining justice for the Matabele as if it is the right thing to do.

No censure has come from the world community to the perpetrators, instigators, supporters and financers of the genocide program that has assumed a covert nature since the end of the overt phase in 1988 to date. The world continues as if there never was such a catastrophic genocide.

Even Prince Charles heir to the British throne when the plight of the Matabele was put to him, he replied with obvious relish “Let them damn the Matabele “. When the ‘Jews” suffered in Hitler’s Germany and elsewhere in the world, the west led by Britain led in the “re-establishment of Israel”, which came through in 1948.

Today the “Jews” are no longer an odious people, they are a people the whole world is falling over itself to please; the Matabele continue to be an odious people. Who are these people the Matabele? We must go into history to discover who these people are. The north of Africa and the south of Europe around the Mediterranean basin was peopled by black people.

If we go back into the story of origins as told by the bible, we are to understand that Adam was not a white man but a black person or colour of earth as he was formed, out of the dust of the earth. Just by examining the earth we see that it varies from dark to light which shades of colour you find among the so called black people.

At the destruction of the world by water one of the sons of Adam was told to build an ark to preserve himself and animal species. Noah being a descendent of Adam was the same colour as his progenitor which was earth coloured. Adam means ground or earth.

Science proves this point for in black people is found melanin the same component found in the soil. Other people, the white people have no melanin, clear testimony that they are not descendent of Adam and Noah who came from the soil.

At the end of the flood the ark of Noah docked or rested in the mountains of Ararat, which is in the area of the Middle East. Noah’s posterity occupied that area and spread to the south, north, west and east from that point to fill the whole earth. They were especially concentrated in the Mediterranean Basin. The White men where did they come from?

Their origin becomes a mystery when we know that the father of the human race was black. It is a mystery why Black people produce a melanin-less child called an albino. In the Matabele language an Albino is called INKAWU meaning Monkey.

White folks through the writings of one Charles Darwin claim Humanity is evolved from monkeys. There is a type of monkey/ ape creature called a Neanderthal.

A study has been made of these apes and DNA analysis shows that the White men have more of the same DNA as these apes, which would authenticate Darwin’s assertion that humans (read white men) evolved from apes.

All bona fide Africans believe they were created. The Matabele have a song that testifies to that it goes “ Inkosi yasidabula ngamandla” meaning “ The Most High created us by His power” , it is sung in an kuhaya tune.

These monkeys /apes were prevalent in the north of the Caucasus Mountains from where the white men came from, hence his calling himself Caucasian, fanning southward towards the Mediterranean basin and into Africa.

These white men had now domesticated the horse and were using advanced weapons of the time. The black man who did not have the horse and the weapons the white men were using had to move southward into Africa in what has come down in history as the Bantu Migrations. The Matabele were part of the Nguni group led by Mnguni.

This Mnguni it is not known who he was descendent from among the sons of Noah. By studying the characteristics of the Bible characters we can decipher his ancestry. When Jacob and his sons went into Egypt, they were asked what was their profession they, replied that they were shepherds, which means they owned cattle, sheep, goats and asses, (Please note the Hebrew did not have horses and the Matabele also did not have horses) which made them excellent stockmen. The Mata

bele were and are excellent cattlemen. This would mean that the Matabele and their kind are descendent from Shem the oldest son of Noah, from whom the Hebrews and Jews are descendent. In their worship they adore one supreme deity whom they call by various names denoting His attributes namely MENZI for Maker, MDALI for Creator SOMANDLA for Almighty SIMAKADE for Eternal one, MVELINGQANGI for First Appearing one.

The white men when he brought his Christianity, in trying to explain the deity he worshipped coined the term NKULUNKULU. It is widely used today as if it is original, which a careful study of the Nguni language and grammar, would reveal that it emanates from ukunkiliza a way of speaking by people not familiar with a language.

We believe that this deity is the one who created everything by his power. We believe He is a single being. The Hebrew also believe in a single deity, who created everything including humans. This is corroborated by the bible.

Several writers and travelers have observed that the Matabele have Hebraic manners and ways, such as New moon festival, first fruits festival and reconciliation festival, which are also mentioned as being practiced by the Hebrew in the Bible.

Hebrew are descendent from Shem.In their language they have words whose origin is not clear. Words originate from an action, a sound, a situation, an object etc. the Matabele greeting is Sabona ; there is no action from which the word comes , nor is there as sound, nor an object from which it is derived, meaning that it is foreign.

An example of this is Nkulumane which is the name of the heir of the Matabele throne. It is a word that has no meaning in the Matabele language, because it comes from a foreign language and is properly Kuruman, it has been Nguninized and has no meaning it is an adopted sound.

So looking at the Matabele greeting one concludes that it is in the same class as Nkulumane coming from a language that is little used or is extinct. The Hebrew greeting is Shalom which has a close sound to Sabona. It is my conclusion that the greeting is of Hebrew origin either corrupted by the Matabele or the present Hebrew has corrupted Sabona to Shalom.

Another word that needs looking at is Gadadi. This is the name of the place of the major battle against the White intruders where many of our forefathers died defending their country and way of life. So where does the name Gadadi come from? There is no sound from which this name is coined, no object either. It is foreign. In the bible there is talk of the Battle of Armageddon which is the mountain of Megiddo.

The word Megiddo is listed as meaning Meeting place or rendezvous which comes from gadad meaning a gash caused by pressing in, this gadad is related to guwd meaning to crowd upon in attack. The battle of Gadadi would be the battle of a gash caused by pressing in, crowding in to attack. In this battle the Matabele did just that they attacked by pressing in and were mowed down by the Maxim gun, creating a gash, each time they attacked.

These examples are enough to link the Matabele to Shem.Other melanin rich people come from Ham and Japheth. The traditional belief that the melanin challenged people are from Japheth is without merit. The writer is aware of a DNA analysis performed in 2013 by the Israeli government, in an effort to keep out black people who were going to Israel claiming to be Hebrew, therefore claiming Israeli citizenship.

The Israeli government because it is basically racist devised this scheme in the hope of turning the black people away on the basis of DNA evidence that they were not Hebrew. The result of this analysis showed the black people with more Abrahamic DNA than the white folk calling themselves Jews.

The white men claim to be from Japheth cannot be at the same time be from Shem from whom Abraham came, so the Jews in Israel if they are that at all, by being white, if we accept that white folk came from Japheth, can only be Japhites not Shemites, which one must be if he is descendant from Abraham. The white systems now ruling the world are basically anti people of melanin.

There has been efforts to eradicate the dark pigmented people and these still continue covertly. Witness the murder of dark skinned people by the white Americans in the USA and the subjection of all dark skinned people to slavery, genocide and other adverse conditions.

Many nefarious experiments were conducted with the intention of exterminating the melanin rich people of the world. In the present world they use dark skinned people against other dark skinned people, in genocide programs devised by them, example Rwanda genocide on the Tutsi masterminded by the French and overseen by the United Nations; the Zimbabwe genocide on the Matabele planned, abated, and financed by Britain and her Allies against the Matabele.

Evidence came through that the British planned this genocide between 1968 and 1979. They produced what has come down infamously as the Grand Plan which they gave to the Shona led by Robert Mugabe at Chatham House in 1979 for implementation, after he had agreed to do their bidding. On assuming power he wasted no time in implementing the program that needed creating a tribal army, the infamous GUKURAHUNDI.

This army was for one purpose only to kill the civilian Matabele. To create a cussus bell, a group christened Dissidents was created, and to win international support the pseudo abduction of tourists was staged. Because of this abduction the world feels justified to ignore this injustice perpetrated against unarmed Matabele men, women and children, and continue to ignore their cry for justice.

The United Nations at the behest of Britain and her allies who have permanent membership of the Security Council continue to block any efforts to deal with the situation of the Matabele.I remember talking to Inkosi Mangosuthu Buthelezi, after looking at what the Nguni have suffered under white systems and the successor black systems, he remarked “Angazi yini amaZulu sizondwa kanje?”

We speculated that it was because of ISADLWANA and IPHUPHU, but now I have a definite answer, we are SHEMITES and the world of the white man and his black proxies hates Shemites.

Matabele know where you come from, it is only then you will understand the present and see the possibilities for tomorrow. All other strategies devised without a clear knowledge of our history would make us sink further.

It would be like a man struggling to get out of quick sand whose effort would make him sink deeper.

Mnangagwa Lines Up Own Cousin for Vice Presidency – Luke-ing the Beast in the Eye.

It is Finished
as Mnangagwa lines up cousin for Vice President

By Luke Tamborinyoka | Today is Easter Friday, the day that Jesus Christ was crucified. Christians like me will use this day to prayerfully reflect on the Son of Man who paid the ultimate price to save humanity from its collective frailties and inadequacies.

For me, the seminal biblical verse during Easter is that utterance on the Cross when Jesus calmly mutters: ” It is finished ” as He bows His head and commits His spirit to His Father (John 19 verse 30).

As Emmerson Mnangagwa lines up his cousin Phillip Valerio Sibanda, whose renewable one year term my impeccable sources say ended 48 hours ago on Wednesday, to take up the Vice President’s post, it is clear that all pretence that Zimbabwe is a democracy has now been busted.

It is finished.

The seminal verse ” It is finished ” denotes an accomplished mission. Jesus Christ was the human form of God who came to live like— and among—the rest of us. He had taught the gospel and lived it; He had performed many miracles, healing the sick and the lame and addressing the concerns of the infirm. As He hung on the Cross at Calvary, It is finished was a valedictory statement that marked the successful accomplishment of his earthly mission.

Impeccable informants have told me that Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Phillip Valerio Sibanda’s one year term ended on Wednesday, 31 March 2021 and will not be extended. Section 216 (3) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe stipulates that Commanders of the Defence Forces and commanders of services of the Defence Forces are appointed for a term of not more than five years and a person must not serve in any any of those offices for more than two terms.

It is pertinent to state that I am not a lawyer but a journalist and an ardent political scientist. I am therefore not aware of the legal niceties and specific details of the contract of CDF P. V. Sibanda, a former army commander himself. But that he has been serving a renewable one year term, which reportedly expired this week as told by my informants, appears consistent with the phrase ” not more than five years ” as stipulated in the Constitution. If his contract has not been renewed, P. V Sibanda could yet be in the cooling off period before his appointment into the presidium as Kembo Mohadi’s replacement sometime this year or early 2022. Mnangagwa is said to be worried that it would be impolitic to have PV Sibanda trade his military fatigue for the party slogan in the same week and is reportedly considering pasturihg out his relative for a “cooling off” period pending his political appointment sooner or later. PV Sibanda is Mnangagwa’s cousin and if and when he gets appointed to the Presidium, the tribalisation and villagisation of the State and the party will have come full circle. If Mnangagwa’s mission was to villagise and “clanitise” the party and the State, then the mission may well have been completed.

It is finished.

As stated earlier, the seminal Easter verse that is the theme of this week’s instalment denotes completeness and fulfilment of a vocation. It marks and expresses the accomplishment of a mission.

In his own uniquely wicked and blasphemous way, Mnangagwa, through his continued nepostic crusade, is loudly announcing the accomplishment of a mission. Indeed, the primitive penchant to villagise the State has awed friend and foe alike. Mnangagwa’s pending appointment of his own cousin into the Presidium may well be the apt fulfilment of his personal mission to “clanitise” government and the party. There is no longer any party or government to talk about as both the State and Zanu PF may soon be family treasures that brothers may well bequeath to each other.. The sinister mission is as good as accomplished.

It is finished.

A fortnight ago. I named over 20 of Mnangagwa’s cousins, uncles, nephews, nieces, clansmen, tribesmen and tribeswomen that he has appointed to Cabinet and deployed to the party, to quasi-State institutions, to provincial ministries and other strategic bodies to represent petty personal, factional and clique interests. It has turned out even the defectors belong to his tribe and come from his original and adopted provinces. The man is simply a primitive tribesmen and any pretence that he is a national leader has now been utterly busted. The pretence that this villager is a statesman has now been sufficiently quashed.

It is finished.

Mugabe did the same when he appointed his cronies and relatives to strategic State institutions. I argued a fortnight ago that Mnangagwa “couped” his way under the false mantra that his entry to the helm of the State signified a new dispensation and marked what he called a Second Republic.

What balderdash!

Mnangagwa’s blood-soaked tenure has been in no way a Second Republic but an insidious and more callous continuation of the First. What is only second about this so-called Republic is that the tyranny level is second to none!

After my instalment two weeks ago on Mnangagwa’s acerbic crusade to tribalise, villagise and “Karangise” government and his party, several disgruntled senior Zanu PF officials came to my inbox to give me more evidence.

They told me, for instance, that Nokuthula Matsikenyeri, who replaced Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba as Manicaland governor is a Karanga who was married into Manicaland province in the Chimanimani area. Oppah Chamu Muchinguri Zvipange Rushesha Kashiri, who was a tete or aunt to Ellen and who fancies herself a key Mnangagwa ally and a Manicaland godmother, is a Karanga from Mnangagwa’s home province of Masvingo. Muchinguri-Kashiri may speak fluent Manyika but she is a Mnangagwa homegirl whose father initially came to Manicaland as an agricultural extension worker (mudhumeni) and eventually settled there.

The same is true about Mike Madiro, a Lacoste factionalist since the Dinyane days in 2004. Madiro, a fellow Karanga originally from Masvingo, is now Manicaland provincial chairman—a provincial godfather who was recently appointed deputy Minister of Transport.

The regime has perished its own mantra that it is a new dispensation. The pretence to novelty and “newness” has now been utterly vanquished.

It is finished.

The Mnangagwa government has been claiming that it represents a break from the past, which past was evidenced by a clear State/Party conflation during the Robert Mugabe years. But with political defectors now being welcomed at State House, Mnangagwa has confirmed he cannot tell the difference between the State and the party and the distinct business that ought to be transacted either at State House or at the party headquarters.

The distinction between State and party has now been completely obliterated.

It is finished.

Under Mnangagwa, State House is now shorn and bereft of the dignity associated with the Presidential residences the world over. Under ED, State House has become a parade square of defecting mercenaries. The whole presidium has become a bunch of political touts who rant and rave at the political terminus called State House in cheap defection skits that are broadcast on national television. The President and his deputy have been reduced to political touts at State House , mahwindi whom we invariably hear as they holler and shout, exhorting innocent Zimbabweans to come and board their ramshackle political bus called Zanu PF on a doomed trip to Hell.

State House is now akin to a bustling taxi rank —-a hive for pirate taxis popularly known as mushika shika where a whole President and his 2 IC sonorously shout during the well choreographed defection sessions as they vend and market Zanu-PF as the ultimate political transport to a doomed destination. The dignity of State House and its reputation as a citadel for transacting national business beyond cheaply partisan matters is long gone, eaten away by a thespian Head of State given to cheap parody and dry political stunts. It appears the mission to bastardise the venerated Presidential palace has now been fully accomplished.

It is finished.

The ZBC, purportedly a national broadcaster with a mandate to give diverse and equal coverage to all political players consistent with section 61 of the Constitution, has now degenerated into ” Emmerson and Auxillia TV “. For husband and wife are now the only main news items on the national broadcaster, sharing hours of prime time news coverage between them. The ZBC has become ” Emmerson and Auxillia TV ” , a station where only the two of them receive protracted in-depth coverage; each absolving the other. All pretence that the ZBC is a national broadcaster is long gone.

It is finished.

As we commemorate the crucifixion of the Son of Man this Friday, let us remember heinous acts the Mnangagwa regime has committed in the past 28 months since its gunnified entrance on the political dais in November 2017. The callous murders of innocent citizens, the arbitrary arrests, the State-sanctioned abductions, the highly toxic and undeserved recalls, the closure of democratic space and the deliberate onslaught on the legitimate opposition in order to create a one-party-State are all well documented.

Jesus Christ may have been crucified on this day but Mnangagwa too has equally crucified the last vestiges of whatever crucibles of democracy were still remaining in Zimbabwe. Mnangagwa has captured all institutions of the State including the sacred pillars of democracy such as the Judiciary and Parliament as well as all independent Chapter 12 institutions. He has usurped the work of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission by creating a “special unit” in his own office while ZEC has been given executive political orders not to hold by-elections, beginning last year when Constantino Chiwenga forced the “independent” electoral commission to backtrack and suspend by-elections whose dates they had earlier proclaimed.

Now the regime has just convicted a young but innocent activist called Makomborero Harizivishe.

Just as they nailed Jesus Christ on the cross on this day, Mnangagwa is equally nailing the last remnants of democracy on the cross of political expediency.

There is neither an iota nor a semblance of democracy still left in the entire body politic.

It is finished. Zvapera .

Police Warn Lockdown Violators

By A Correspondent- Police have warned the public, including visitors to the country, to comply with COVID-19 safety and health measures during the Easter holidays or face arrest.

In a statement, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said anyone who disregarded COVID-19 regulations would be dealt with in terms of the law.

“Those who are taking advantage of the public holiday by offering fake COVID-19 certificates will be severely dealt with by the police.”

Nyathi also said there would be a clampdown on all unroadworthy vehicles and errant motorists.

“Records have shown that speeding, human error, misjudgment, overloading and defective motor vehicles contribute to accidents.

“Members of the public are also urged to avoid boarding mushikashika or unregistered vehicles as they risk being mugged,” he said.

Nyathi said police patrols would be increased throughout the country.-Newsday

Man Sjamboks Own Wife All Night To Cast Out Prostitution Demon

sjambok

A Bulawayo man allegedly assaulted his wife with a sjambok (imvubu) the whole night, claiming he was getting rid of a prostitution demon which was possessing her.

Brian Ndlovu from Makokoba suburb flogged his wife Nombulelo Mkwananzi after he allegedly found love messages in her phone.

After the brutal attack Mkwananzi deserted the matrimonial home to stay in New Luveve.

Mkwananzi is now living in fear after her husband threatened to axe her if she comes back home.

Mkwananzi, who is apparently regretting the kind of a man she married, last week approached the Bulawayo Civil Court seeking a protection order against him.

“I have been married to Brian Ndlovu for more than 13 years and for the past two years we have been having problems and he has always promised me that one day he will beat me up such that I won’t forget what he would have done to me.

“He has on several occasions ordered me to pack my things and move out of the house.

“Two weeks ago, he beat me up with fists and imvubu (sjambok) the whole night claiming he was removing the spirit of prostitution in me.

“This was after he took my phone and started going through my WhatsApp messages and accused me of having an affair. He later damaged my phone.

“When I moved out of the house with the children he came and took them during my absence and is now threatening to axe me whenever I return home to take them and my belongings,” complained Mkwananzi.

She begged the court to grant an order which compels her husband to allow her to collect her belongings.

Ndlovu, who didn’t dispute his wife’s accusations, defended his actions, saying he was pissed off after he discovered that she was cheating on him.

“We had a misunderstanding after I found a message in her phone which shows that she was having an affair,” responded Ndlovu.

In her judgment presiding magistrate Nkosinomusa Ncube ordered Ndlovu not to insult or threaten his wife and also to allow her to collect her belongings.

South Africans React To #RetrenchPeterNdoro

Peter Ndoro

South Africans have stood by SABC news anchor Peter Ndoro amid calls for him to be retrenched by the public broadcaster.

The hashtag #RetrenchPeterNdoro trended on Twitter on April 1, 2021. The call for Ndoro to be retrenched comes after SABC retrenched 621 of its employees on 31 March 2021. 346 employees opted for voluntary severance packages, while 275 employees occupied positions that were made redundant.

South Africans on Twitter used the hashtag #RetrenchPeterNdoro calling for the Zimbabwean born Peter Ndoro to be retrenched. However, prominent South Africans ranging from ordinary South Africans, politicians and Ndoro’s colleagues in the journalism field have come out in support of the veteran anchor.

The #RetrenchPeterNdoro his a fools hashtag, driven by xenophobia & afrophobia: true #AprilFools You can’t celebrate Trevor Noah who is in a USA based Daily Show & demand the retrenchment of Peter Ndoro simply because he is Zimbabwean! That is why we call this a fools’ hashtag!

Fellow journalist, Sophie Mokoena said the calls for Peter Ndoro to be retrenched are sponsored.

She wrote:

You can see this is well planned and sponsored. Like I alway say evil will not Triumph over Good. I know too well that no former or current SABC employee will display such hate and Xenophobic tendencies. Peter Ndoro is loved by millions. He is one of the best amongst the best.

Another fellow journalist Redi Tlhabi also came out in support of Ndoro urging him not to waver.

She wrote:

Hi @peterndoro ..beyond “hello” we have never spoken. So forgive my intrusion but I feel like wagging my finger at you and telling you to NEVER ever let piercing words matter more than kind, soothing words. For every person who attacks you, many more lift you up. Don’t waver!

COVID-19 Restrictions-Zim Artists Say They have Lost Fortunes This Easter Holiday

By James Gwati-Local artists say they have lost out on income to feed their families this Easter holiday because of the continued maintenance of COVID-19 restrictions by the government.

The government this week said it was maintaining a ban on live performances by musicians and other artists including churches during the Easter holiday.

The authorities cited a possible surge in COVID-19 cases if people are allowed to gather during the long weekend.
Music promoter, Wanisai Mutandwa, AKA Mhamha Mahwindo said artists survive on live performances and they were starving by the continued ban on their main activities.

Last week artists week sought an audience with deputy sports minister, Tino Machakaire where they appealed for the lift on the ban on live performances.

Matemadanda’s Recall Sets The Pot Boiling

Victor Matemadanda

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Zimbabwe is settling to the news that the outspoken and hardworking National Political Commissar Comrade Victor Matemadanda was relieved of his position and has been re assigned a diplomatic position in Mozambique. The dominance of ZANU PF in the political landscape can not be over emphasized. In Zimbabwean politics ZANU PF is the thing. Whatever happens in ZANU PF becomes news for an exceptionally long time and is mostly accompanied by theories and counter theories. So, when anything happens in ZANU PF it is always accompanied by explanations and counter explanations.

The Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU–PF) is a political organisation which has been the ruling party of Zimbabwe since independence in 1980. The party was led for many years by comrade  Robert Gabriel Mugabe, first as Prime Minister with the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) and then as President from 1987 after the merger with the Zimbabwe African People’s Union (ZAPU) and retaining the name ZANU–PF, until 2017, when he resigned as leader. On 19 November 2017, ZANU–PF sacked Robert Mugabe as party leader, who resigned two days later, and appointed former Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa in his place. We should remember that ZANU PF is a merger of two main parties which means they completely became one party thus wondering awY FROM MY TOPIC THE CELEBRATED RECALLS being muted by the little known ZAPU will not work as it is not legitimate, ZANU PF is a party unlike MDC A is a group of many parties which means it is not one solid party and the members can still be recalled by their mother parties. In ZANU PF the mother party is ZANU PF and thus there is no other party outside the party which can be a party on its own.

In December 1987, after five years of the low-level civil war known as Gukurahundi, the opposition ZAPU, led by Nkomo, was absorbed through the Unity Accord with ZANU to form an official ZANU–PF.

Being that as it may ZANU PF maintained the administration of its party in a way which has seen it grow from strength to strength. The heartbeat of the party is the Political Commisariat department which is led by the secretary of commissariat known as the National Political Commisair. This position becomes an immensely powerful position in the party and in the country. It shapes the party, and it is responsible for the party’s survival. This explains why the recalling of comrade Matemadanda became a story of the year after COVID 19.

It must be known that today the political commissar is largely responsible for administrative tasks such as public relations and counselling, and mainly serves as second-in-command after the party’s presidium.  The position of political commissar has seen much blood and sweat and thus becomes one of the most dangerous positions to have in any political party. Because of its importance there is always blood and blood in the comfort area of this position. Those appointed to this position mostly are carried from the office by six men straight to the hero’s acre. Very few have walked unaided from this office. Those who did are in political quagmire. Some are exiled to pollical oblivion and some are exiled out of the country with many in the land of the dead their deaths most violent. This is because the position decides on the political future of many people and thus once you are given the position you become an enemy of everyone from your party to the opposition.

The political commissar of a party should work as efficiently as possible in that position. The position to which he has been assigned has an important task to guard the skies and perimeters of the party and indeed the nation. It is beyond party politics it sets the political discourse of the whole country hence the need to appoint mature and free thinking cadres in this position. Defending the ideology of the party and defending the party itself is the commissariat’s first and foremost task. To defend the party in a reliable way, you must not allow any counter revolutionary idea to fly over or to drop a single bomb of disunity on the party and its people. If the Commissariat is to carry out its duty efficiently, all the members of the party and its leadership should first of all be prepared as revolutionary fighters unfailingly loyal to the Party and the leader. Education in the Party،¯s monolithic ideology and revolutionary traditions should be intensified among the members so that they all think and act in line with the will and ideology of the party and the leadership. They need to learn the ennobling revolutionary spirit of the guerrillas, to fight by laying down their youth and lives without hesitation for the country the Party and the leadership. Teaching them the spirit of the freedom fighters, who fought bravely in the period of the motherland Liberation War, should also be strengthened to ensure that in any kind of adversity our soldiers defend the capital of the revolution to the last man.  A commissar must observe discipline better than those of other officers. They should be models in keeping their personal appearances neat and clean and observing the proprieties. Many people view the party through the NPC and if officers do not abide by discipline, they will bring shame on our country and our People’s party. The commissariat must educate the members and regulate their behaviours to eliminate any violations of discipline. For the party to carry out its tasks as required, the political commissar should also work with efficiency. The political commissar is a representative of the Party, delegated to the unit concerned.  the political commissar takes responsibility for the unit in political affairs before the Party. He should bear in mind the importance of his position and duty as the political commissar and discharge his duty in a responsible manner. The political commissar should persistently keep up the work of establishing the Party،¯s monolithic ideological system in the unit. This is the first and foremost task of the political commissar. He should lay great stress on this work and not make any concession in this undertaking. he should conduct an uncompromising struggle among the members against any practice detrimental to the Party’s monolithic ideological system. He should also pay great attention to enhancing the collective leadership of the Party committee.

The political commissar is the supervisory political officer responsible for the political education (ideology) and organization, and committed to the civilian control of the military. Historically, the commissaire politique (political commissary) first appeared in the French Revolution (1789–99), guarding it against anti-Revolutionary thought and action, and so ensuring the Republican victory.

Officially, ZANU–PF has a socialist ideology. The party maintains a Politburo and a Central Committee. However, the party’s ideology may be changing as Mnangagwa said that “all foreign investments will be safe in Zimbabwe” and calls for “increased production and capacity and new investment in the country.”

We need to understand then that because of the importance of the commissariat their job becomes both dangerous and seriously important. Any person in the party who wishes to have unlimited power targets the commissariat. Being in that position becomes the most dangerous position in any political party which has the office of the Commissariat. It then explains why the commissar becomes an enemy and a friend of many. Many people who graced that office are licking their wounds and some are still haunted even when they have left the position long back. One important point to note is that no one in history rose from the commissariat to become a leader in the party. Many commissars have died or imprisoned they were never allowed to get to the presidium this is because they have so many enemies to contain before they even consider the office around the presidium. Many people who have their own ambitions always start by attacking the Political Commissariat spread rumours and some would even tell the president wrong information to aim at the groins of the commissar.

It is therefore not surprising that since independence 1980, every ZANU PF political commissar has suffered either an assassination, or a humiliating ouster. The list includes, Mayor Urimbo, Maurice Mhofu Nyagumbo, Movern Mahachi, Border Gezi, Elliot Manyika, Webster Shamu, Saviour Kasukuwere, The retired General Engelbert Rugeje and today comrade Victor Matemadanda. ZANU PF has seen several Political Commissars and then there were no lady except the deputy Cde Omega Hungwe. As of the appointment on Monday of Cde Victor Matemadanda to replace cde Major General Rugeje ZANU PF commissariat is once again male-only and the most volatile position in the party. Of the team who graced the most volatile position in the History of the party not a single member is left at the table. It must however be noted that the NPCs National Political Commissar serve at the pleasure of the president. This means that something is done or can be done because His Excellency wants it to be done. The political commissar serves at the pleasure of the president and will continue to serve if the president wants him to. His removal does not reflect his failure but simply shows that the pleasure has ended. The pleasure of the president has departed. Over the years, political commissars in the ruling party have been one of the most endangered species due to their influence on the masses.

Some of the ZANU PF political commissar have, suffered either an assassination, or a humiliating ouster includes Mayor Urimbo, Maurice Nyagumbo, Movern Mahachi, Border Gezi, Elliot Manyika, Webster Shamu, Engelbert Rugeje and latest; Victor Matemadanda. Those who died, met the end of their lives mysteriously, amid reports that they would have been assassinated. A political commissar or political officer is a supervisory officer responsible for the political education (ideology) and mobilising support for the party. This must not surely attract such acrimony and animosity.

Apparently, President Emmerson Mnangagwa this week did not fire the outspoken Zanu PF political commissar Victor Matemadanda. Infact those who have been aiming their dirty on Matemadanda have congested the social media with lies and scorn. Matemadanda was not fired, but he has been reassigned for a higher responsibility out of the country,” All things put together General Rugeje was the most short-lived PC in the position. But he pulled through one of the toughest elections in the history of Zanu pf. An election which came when the party was seriously divided. ZANU PF was divided into G40. Into People’s first into all sorts of divisions. Rugeje worked through the curves and indeed deserves a pat. Unfortunately for Rugeje he was surrounded by gossiping comrades and indeed it was just a matter of time before he was retired. He gave his all but the lies and gossip around him was so electric and like a great tsunami it swept him aside.

We only had hoped that Cde Victor was quick to see those around him as they are and chose his friends wisely. Unfortunately, Matemadanda faced a lot of enemies, some of them are so close to the president and they have drowned the president with gossip and lies. This has swept Matemadanda and indeed his recalling was more for his protection than for his punishment. The president has simply played his cards well and it is his wisdom we have to rely on. The fact that Matemadanda has been recalled while his soul and flesh are together is a good thing for him Whoever will come after Matemadanda must not celebrate but hold his breath and apply more prayers than gossip. Those who are celebrating thinking that Matemadanda has been laid down they must think again.

If he is to be overtaken by pride, he will be the victim of the office.
Matemadanda’s recalling is a timely reminder to party supporters across the land that political survival rhymes with party unity. We must remember that it is the pleasure of the president not the wish of the gossipers. Even though sometimes the pleasure of the president coincides with the wish of the gossipers it is just a temporary victory but soon the gossipers will be swimming in their own metal spiky bed. Some serving officers at the President’s  pleasures, if more explicitly known, would make some of us cringe and no president cares to consider his pleasures any more than absolutely necessary.

And yet, serving at the pleasure of the president remains a consideration that any observer of politics must consider. these political Commissars serve at the pleasure of the President and traditionally are given a term. The pleasure of the President does not have to wait for any time it is as he pleases and it has pleased the President to retire one and appoint the other.

Despite this acclimation of unfettered power, there must be some reason for a decision. Of course, “at the pleasure” does not require a reason to be justified. If the basis for a change in the is simply on a Presidential whim, then that is as scary, if not more so, than partisan politics.

But before jumping to the conclusion that gossip has played the key role in the relatively swift demise of the previous PC , it is worth considering that they all came to the fore in an age of ever-increasing electoral volatility.

In less than a decade, commissariat has been governed by five different commissars.
Matemadanda was facing mounting hostility from his own party over poor public support, leading to a struggle for power that threatened the survival of the party in the midlands. What is it about Political Commissar that has led to so much instability in that position? So, is there a chance it could happen again? It is not unlikely. Under the current system, this job security is linked to the size of the pleasure of his excellence. Since the elections in 2018 the position of the PC in recent months had been precarious.

The party is currently deeply divided between a hard-right faction, led by the unsuccessful leadership-challengers and a more moderate wing all in the corridors of power. The most dangerous issue is that all these people claim to be very close to the president. The president is being owned by a few who do not command public support but have immense weight about how close they are to the president. Matemadanda’s leadership was more right than left, however he became increasingly unpopular amongst hardliners in the face of a looming national election in 2023 and good opinion polling for the party. The internal fight came to a head when Matemadanda was pleasured out. Would the ouster heal the divided party.

Matemadanda was expected to pilot the wishes of the war vets and to speed their inclusion in all party structures. He tried his best but he had to fight many fronts and indeed it came to this.

The position of the NPC is not for the faint hearted. Cde Mayor Urimbo who was born Mamutse was the political Commisar in 1977 he was retired at independence. He was so charismatic that he was nicknamed Mutupo we ZANU. Cde Mayor Urimbo mixed so well with all ranks he was not a proud person. Because of his Humility he recruited thousands to the party and struggle. He was a great example of a National Political Commissar. Maurice Tapfumanei Mhofu Nyagumbo had a short stint in the shoes of the Pc. He died of poisoning in 1989. Cde Moven Mahachi became the PC and his end is well documented. Manyika was the NPC for thirty days. He had taken over from Border Gezi who died on duty. Manyika was pleasured in the frontline he was to die in another accident.

The position was taken by Cde Webster Shamu whose term ended unceremoniously and Saviour Kasukuwere took over. Despite consulting several witch doctors Kasukuwere left in a hurry. Then Matemadanda was appointed and he served for six days before General Rugeje took over. Rugeje was to oversee the elections and he won it for ZANU PF. He was to be replaced by Matemadanda.

Matemadanda made history by being appointed to the same position twice. Was it a comeback or going back? This is the most volatile unpredictable position in the party?

Eddie Cross- “Informal Sector Is 70% GDP But Remitting Paltry 1% In Taxes” – Get Nothing From Taxing Imaginary Wealth

Eddie Cross

By Patrick Guramatunhu | “Shocking evidence of tax leakages hogged the limelight this week, with Finance and Economic Development minister Mthuli Ncube saying the informal sector, which makes up 70% of Zimbabwe’s gross domestic product (GDP), was remitting less than 1% in taxes,” wrote Eddie Cross.

– SOURCE: zimbabwelight.blogspot.com

Hwange Villagers Resist Evictions, Sue Mnangagwa And Chitando

By James Gwati- Villagers of Dinde in Hwange have engaged human rights lawyers to stop the government from evicting them from their ancestral land for a Chinese coal mining project.

According to NewsDay, a civic society group, the Centre for Natural Resources Governance (CNRG), and the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) are pursuing legal action to stop the eviction of the villagers.

The government on Thursday sent a high-powered delegation to Hwange to evict Dinde villagers who are resisting the Chinese coal mining project.

The visit by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s delegation came after villagers had said that they were not going to move for the Chinese Beifa Investment company which has been given green light to start its coal mining operations.

Who Are The Matabeles?

rare picture of King Lobengula circa 1895 – FILE

By T D Mkwananzi | The Matabele were once feared, adored and hated and now they are discriminated against. Why are they hated so? They are hated by the west as the Jews whom Constantine described as “odious people” so by extension are also odious people to the west and its allies and the west’s proxies in Africa and elsewhere.

The Matabele have a song that testifies to that it goes “ Inkosi yasidabula ngamandla” meaning “

The Most High created us by His power” , it is sung in an kuhaya tune.

The Matabele were and are excellent cattlemen. This is corroborated by the bible.Several writers and travelers have observed that the Matabele have Hebraic manners and ways, such as New moon festival, first fruits festival and reconciliation festival, which are also mentioned as being practiced by the Hebrew in the Bible.

The Hebrew are descendent from Shem.In their language they have words whose origin is not clear.

Evidence is come through that the British planned this genocide between 1968 and 1979.

The United Nations at the behest of Britain and her allies who have permanent membership of the Security Council continue to block any efforts to deal with the situation of the Matabele.I remember talking to Inkosi Mangosuthu Buthelezi, after looking at what the Nguni have suffered under white systems and the successor black systems, he remarked “Angazi yini amaZulu sizondwa kanje?” We speculated that it was because of ISADLWANA and IPHUPHU, but now I have a definite answer, we are SHEMITES and the world of the white man and his black proxies hates Shemites. Matabele know where you come from, it is only then you will understand the present and see the possibilities for tomorrow. All other strategies devised without a clear knowledge of our history would make us sink further. It would be like a man struggling to get out of quick sand whose effort would make him sink deeper.

Daring Woman Brings Lovers Home

A MAN from Tshabalala suburb was left with no choice, but to approach the courts after his wife shamed him by bringing her boyfriends to their matrimonial home and assaulted him whenever he asked why she brought her lovers to their home.

The magistrate ordered her to stop bringing her boyfriends home and refrain from physically, emotionally and verbally abusing her husband.-B-Metro

In-laws Bash Man Over Unpaid Lobola

A Bulawayo man was mercilessly thrashed by his in-laws before they took away his wife and three children because he had not paid lobola.

In her judgment presiding magistrate Nkosinomusa Ncube ruled: “Applicant’s application falls out of the armbit of a protection order, but is instead actually an application for custody. He is advised to approach the Juvenile Court which is specifically structured and sensitive to issues relating to children and it has the jurisdiction to order who will be the custodian of the children”.

The magistrate subsequently dismissed Ndhlovu’s application.-B-Metro

Pastor Bashes Ex-lover

A WOMAN from Entumbane suburb was left bleeding and shaken after a pastor from Gathering of Saints got into her bedroom through the roof and beat her several times, forcing her to flee to her neighbour’s house.

On 23 March 2021, Pastor Prosper Habuthusi Nkomo (31), visited his ex- girlfriend Maritha Khumalo (46) at her home in Entumbane.

“He got there at around 5.30 pm and knocked several times on the main door, but Maritha was not moved and refused to open the door. Prosper then left,” said the prosecutor Rosemary Mbeure.

After that things went awry as Prosper returned at around 7 pm and hid in a maize field.

“I saw him getting into the maize field and hiding there and he was anticipating that somehow I would open the door going to the toilet or somewhere so that he would storm into the house. At around 7.30 pm he got out of the maize field and scaled over the precast wall. He headed into the house. He knocked several times on the main door, but I did not open for him and remained sitting on my bed,” Maritha told court.

Seeing that his efforts were yielding no results, he climbed on top of the roof of the house.

“He damaged two asbestos sheets and got into Maritha’s bedroom through the roof. He found her standing in her bedroom and punched and kicked her several times all over the body. The hapless Maritha bled and somehow managed to escape and ran to her neighbour where she sought refuge,” the court heard.

A neighbour accompanied her to Entumbane police station where she reported the matter leading to the arrest of Prosper.

Prosper appeared before Western commonage magistrate Jeconia Prince Ncube facing two counts-physical abuse and malicious damage to property. He pleaded guilty to both counts. He was convicted and sentenced.

For the physical abuse charge Prosper was fined $10 000, if he fails to pay he will have to serve 30 days in imprisonment.

For malicious damage to property he was slapped with six months of which three months were suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offence within a period of five years. While the remaining three months were suspended on condition that he restitutes $22 680 to Jabulani Chirinda to buy the asbestos roof he damaged.-B-Metro

Prioritize Social Distancing During Easter- ZRP

As the nation commemorates the Easter holiday, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) reminds members of the public that the Government’s COVID-19 regulations announced by His Excellency, Head of State and Government and the Commander in Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa on 30th March 2021 will be enforced without fear or favour.

The Police will ensure that all visitors to the country comply with the safety and health measures pronounced by President Mnangagwa. No movements to and from boarding schools by either parents or pupils will be allowed on Police checkpoints and roadblocks. May I take this opportunity to warn bars and nightclub operators that they must religiously comply with the Government’s directive to remain closed. Anyone who disregards the directive will be dealt with in terms of the country’s laws.

Those who are taking advantage of the public by offering fake COVID-19 certificates will be severely dealt with by the Police. The public should seriously take note of the Government’s advice to defer unnecessary travel in order to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and contribute towards the maintenance of law and order in the country.

The public must note that social gatherings which include weddings, churches and funerals are still limited to a maximum of 50 people, wearing of masks is still mandatory and the curfew order remains effective from 2200 hours to 0530 hours, the next morning.

The issue of social distancing should be prioritized at all times. The ZRP urges all motorists and the general public to observe road rules and regulations and ensure that motor vehicles are roadworthy for carrying passengers and goods.

Records have shown that speeding, human error, misjudgement, overloading and defective motor vehicles contribute to accidents. Motorists should ensure that tyres are in good condition before embarking on journeys. We are appealing to all motorists to drive safely during this holiday and avoid overtaking in situations which are not safe to do so.

We urge motorists to co-operate with police officers when stopped at roadblocks and checkpoints in order to avoid inconveniences. Police would be checking for various traffic violations, stolen motor vehicles, smuggling of minerals, criminal movements, cattle rustlers nd drug traffickers on all major highways and roads in the country.

Stakeholders such as the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe and Vehicle Examination Department will be working closely with the ZRP to make sure that the holidays are accident-free through awareness campaigns and blitz on errant motorists.

Police will impound all defective or un-roadworthy vehicles in order to safeguard lives. Members of the public are urged to avoid boarding Mshkashika or unregistered vehicles as they risk being mugged. Above all these vehicles are not licenced or insured to carry passengers.

Those travelling must always ensure that properties are secure. Please do not to leave keys under doormats, flower pots or any obvious place. The ZRP will deploy officers to curtail criminal activities throughout the country through patrols, stop and search and crime awareness campaigns. Police commanders will ensure that officers perform duties according to set standards.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police wishes all a happy and accident-free Easter Holiday

Students Reject Auxillia Mnangagwa’s Mufushwa Project

Own Correspondent|Human rights activists and students in Masvingo rejected Auxillia Mnangagwa’s traditional cooking workshop arguing the project was disrupting learning programmes.

There was pandemonium at Masvingo Polytechnic last week as students and human rights defenders refused to be intimidated by Mrs Mnangagwa’s security team.

Citizens in Action Africa Human rights defender and former student leader Archieford Mudzengi, came to the students’ rescue as Mrs Mnangagwa literary seized facilities at Masvingo Polytechnic.

Students were chucked out of the campus to pave way for the First Lady’s dried vegetables (mufushwa) project.

Mai Mnangagwa was embarrassed after students complained that her program was consuming their time.

As commotion ensued, Mudzengi addressed students outlining how fundamental their right to education was.

Several issues came up with the institution denying students part tuition fees payment, security guards chasing away learners and denying students access to internet.

With all grievances coming up Mudzengi then coordinated the signing of a petition to hand over to the First Lady.

However, Mrs Mnangagwa orderd anti-riot police to pounce on the students.

After Spending the whole year without learning, students were happy to pursue their programs of choice when schools were opened on the 22nd of march only to be turned away as the elephant in Mrs Mnangagwa had taken over the institution.

Students were denied entry with most complaining they had to beat deadlines as they are engaged in crush programs to cover up for lost time. Hundreds of students were denied entry affecting even the intended beneficiaries to the first lady teachings. This did go down well with the students who waited at the campus entrance registering disgruntlement. In no time a renowned Human rights defender and activist who is also a former student leader Archieford Mudzengi assumed leadership and addressed the students outlining how fundamental their right to education is.

Mudzengi also touched on the need for students to air out their concerns pertaining to tuition fees paying to the First Lady’s office which was present since the college was denying part payments. At this point the students defied the restriction and forcefully entered the campus where they requested an interface with the first lady who vehemently refused and had to summon anti-riot police to pounce genuine students.

Several students were arrested and taken to Masvingo central Police Station. The First Lady had to sneak out of campus under heavy security escort to avoid further embarrassment.

Sugar gets a bad rap, but the truth is that it’s a vital source of energy and essential to our survival. Of course, not all sugars are the same. Fructose found in fruits and vegetables and lactose in dairy-rich foods are natural sugars we don’t have to be as concerned about because these foods also have fiber and calcium, for example. Added sugars, however, which are often found in processed foods, are those we could do without, and most of us consume too much of them.

According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2020–2025, the average American consumes 270 calories of added sugars, or 17 teaspoons, each day.

Added sugars are anything that’s added to food to make it taste sweet, and this includes natural sugars like honey and maple syrup. “Even though they may be more wholesome than table sugar, it’s still contributing more calories but not much in the way of vitamins and minerals,” says Jessica Cording, RD, a health coach in New York City and author of The Little Book of Game Changers.

Sugar is sneaky and can hide under 61 different names, according to the University of California in San Francisco. Despite your best efforts to make healthy food choices, you could be getting more sugar than you bargained for.

Negative Effects of Sugar on the Body

Per Harvard Health Publishing, when we eat sugar, most of it gets broken down and absorbed in the small intestine.

Specialized enzymes attack larger molecules and convert them into three simpler sugars: glucose, galactose, and fructose. The liver and muscles store some of the glucose as glycogen, a molecule that can be turned back into glucose when your body needs it.

When glucose enters the bloodstream, however, levels of blood glucose rise. In response, the pancreas secretes insulin to help glucose get where it needs to go in your body.

If you’re consuming large amounts of added sugar, the cells can become resistant to insulin over time — a risk factor for systemic inflammation, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic conditions.

According to a study published in November 2016 in the journal Nutrients, consuming too much added sugar has also been linked to weight gain and obesity, risk factors for heart disease, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and cancer.

“Excessive intakes of added sugars impact our energy, mood, weight, and disease risk,” Cording says. “Across the board it can impact our physical and mental well-being.”

“In order for us to function as smoothly and as normally as possible, we need our blood sugar to be operating in the Goldilocks zone of energy,” says William W. Li, MD, a physician in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and author of Eat to Beat Disease.

Are You Eating Too Much Sugar?

The recommendations for limits on added sugars vary among industry groups. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2020–2025, which are published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and U.S. Department of Agriculture, recommend limiting calories from added sugars to no more than 10 percent each day. For someone who consumes 2,000 calories a day, that’s a maximum of about 12 teaspoons worth…

Billiat Praises Warriors Teammates

ZIMBABWE international forward, Khama Billiat, has hailed his Warriors teammates for qualifying for the next AFCON finals in Cameroon.

The 30-year-old attacking midfielder, is a key member of the team, but was forced to miss the remainder of the campaign, after suffering an injury, earlier this year.

Billiat, who has played a major role in the team’s qualification for the last two finals, didn’t feature in the team’s final two matches, against Botswana and Zambia.

The Kaizer Chiefs man has been out of action, for almost three months, with an injury he sustained during a South Africa Premiership tie against Maritzburg United, on January 9, at the FNB Stadium.

However, he is now back in training and is looking forward to return to his best, for both club and country, in the coming months.

Chiefs want to progress, in the CAF Champions League, while international duty is also just over the horizon, with the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, coming up in June.

“It was great to see Zimbabwe qualify for AFCON last weekend,’’ Billiat told his club’s official website, yesterday.

‘’Hopefully, I will come in and join the team and match the level of fitness required by the team.’’

The Warriors sealed their place, with a game to spare in Group H, with eight points.

They beat the Zebras 1-0, in Botswana, rendering the last home match against Zambia, virtually a dead rubber.

The Warriors lost that match 0-2 on Monday night.

But, Billiat could look back with a measure of satisfaction, as the two goals he scored, in the reverse fixture in Lusaka, proved decisive.

The Warriors claimed a sensational 2-1, with Billiat grabbing a brace, in a match which eventually defined the team’s quest, for a place in Cameroon, next year.

Billiat said the last three months have been difficult, for him, and is happy with the progress he has made, with his recovery.

“I have been out for some months now and it has not been easy,’’ he said. ‘’I have been coming to training and doing rehab, working hard trying to make sure that I spend less time outside.

“It has been difficult. We are professional footballers and we always want to contribute by playing through hard, and good times, so you can grow as a person.

“I got injured against Maritzburg United and I never saw it coming. I have never been in a situation where I have had to miss so many games.

“It was difficult for me. I thought I would push myself harder, and come back as soon as possible, but I understand that everything happens for a reason.

“I thank God for the strength, and I feel better at the moment. I am back, hopefully, the coach will give me a chance.

“Thankfully I am training with the team. I just need to work on my fitness. As a player, it’s your mentality, and how hard you work, so you can contribute in team.”

The Zimbabwean international started full-contact training recently.

He said he was focused on getting back on to the field of play, and try and help Chiefs, finish their DStv Premiership campaign strongly. And, there is also the issue of the CAF Champions League.

Billiat, who has had to fight a series of injuries in the last few seasons, provided five assists, and scored one goal in 16 games, in all competitions this season.

He is hopeful he could get some game time on Saturday, when Chiefs host Wydad Casablanca, in a crucial Champions League game.

Billiat has previously faced Wydad in the CAF Champions League in 2017, when he was with Sundowns, and they lost the tie on penalties.

He also met them during the 2018 group stages, at home, in a match that ended 1-1.

“Wydad is a good team, we struggled to play against them in the first game in Burkina Faso,’’ said Billiat.

“I have known them, for a long time, and they are not an easy side to play against. They work hard and they have been at this level for some time and know how to play the game.

“Every new game is a chance and bring new possibilities. We need to work on our game and make sure we use the fact that we are at home to get a good result. I think we deserve it.

“We just have to work hard as a team an apply what the coaches want us to do.’’

Meanwhile, Warriors coach, Zdravko Logarusic, is reported to have flown back home to Croatia after helping the team qualify for the next AFCON finals.- The Herald

Chitando Implicated In Hwange Evictions

By A Correspondent-Mines and Mining Development, Winston Chitando, has been implicated in the eviction of Dinde villagers in Hwange.

The government wants the villagers to pave way for a Chinese coal mining project.

Chitando is one of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s delegation which was sent to forced the villagers to leave their ancestral land for the Chinese.

Southern Eye reports that Matabeleland North Provincial Affairs minister Richard Moyo and Mines and Mining Development minister Winston Chitando visited Dinde today and engage the villagers over the coal mining project.

Moyo confirmed the visit yesterday.

He appealed to the Dinde community to allow the Chinese firm to start operations, adding that the villagers stood to benefit from the project through job creation, among others.

“I will be accompanying the Mines minister to the area to engage the community and hear their concerns. There must have been some poor communication about this project, hence villagers have been resisting,” Moyo said.

“However, this investment will benefit the community through jobs and so forth, but if the villagers do not want it, that will be okay. However, if this investment goes to other parts of the country, there must be no crying foul on issues of lack of jobs and development.”

The proposed Dinde project comes a few months after the government was forced to reverse a decision to let two other Chinese firms explore coal inside the Hwange National Park.

Environmentalists took the government to court in September 2020 to prevent ecological degradation after two Chinese firms were given exploration rights in the country’s biggest national park.

Reports indicate that desperate Dinde villagers intend to petition Parliament to stop the coal mining project.

Dinde is home to thousands of Nambyas and Tongas with a preponderance of the Tonga tribe which first settled in the then Hwange district up to Victoria Falls upstream of the Zambezi River centuries ago.

Some of the musicians who have crossed Limpopo to seek fortunes this Easter holiday include Killer-T and Freeman.

The two will this Easter hold joint performances in Joburg.

Government early week said it was maintaining a ban on live performances by musicians and other artists including churches during the Easter holiday.

The authorities cited a possible surge in COVID-19 cases if people are allowed to gather during the long weekend.

“Emmerson Mnangagwa Dancing On Quicksand”

01-04-2021

The MDC Alliance Youth Assembly is deeply riled by the regime’s latest new low to convict Makomborero Haruzivishe.

In a clear confirmation of our long held view that our courts are now an extension of ZANU PF, a Harare Magistrate at Rotten Row convicted our National Executive Committee member, Makomborero Haruzivishe of a spurious charge of ‘inciting violence’.

It is crystal clear that the Miranda at Rotten Row is now capsized and the once revered judiciary institution is churning out rotten pronouncements dictated from ZANU PF headquarters.

As the MDC Alliance Youth Assembly, we want to make it clear that the conviction of Haruzivishe is unacceptable and must never be tolerated.

By convicting Cde Mako, the regime is bent on deterring and dissuading young people from questioning the Looting Committee of Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Mnangagwa’s plan is to create a dormant and docile youth that does not question his corrupt and repressive regime.

Our message to Mnangagwa is short and concise.

We are not going to sit back while the regime is poking on our eyes through old colonial tricks of pre-trial imprisonment and convictions.

Mnangagwa is using the very same old method used by Ian Smith to silence progressive youths during colonial era of which he too was ironically a victim of the same.

Mnangagwa must be reminded that just like those of 1970s, today’s generation of youths are ready to resist his abusive and repressive regime.

We want to send a clear warning to Emmerson Mnangagwa and his mafia that they are dancing on a political quicksand.

The provocation has gone beyond that which we can fathom!

We demand for the unconditional release of Makomborero Haruzivishe, Cecilia Chimbiri, Joana Mamombe and all political prisoners.

Our individual freedoms becomes meaningless when our fellow youth leaders are rotting in prisons for no apparent reason except demanding a just society.

Our demands are reasonable and justified hence we will continue to defy any attempts to pacify us through persecution by prosecution.

We are not going to agonize but organize and mobilize in solidarity with all political prisoners.

Mnangagwa has crossed the Rubicon and its time for people’s response.

At some point the madness must stop or get stopped!

Tichaona Chipunza Unveiled At Nkana FC

Tichaona Chipunza has finally been unveiled at Zambian top-flight side Nkana FC after his former club Chicken Inn had threatened to block his transfer.

The midfielder initially presented himself as a free agent and Nkana approached the player and offered him a deal without the knowledge of the Gamecocks.

This infuriated the Bulawayo-based team who claimed Chipunza was still contracted to them when the deal was automatically renewed this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. They believed the Zambians had no right to approach and offer the player a contract without engaging them as the club.

But it looks like all differences have been ironed out, and the former Dynamos man has been confirmed as Nkana’s new signing.

The 26 year-old said he was happy to join the Zambian club.

“I am so happy to join a big team not only in Zambia but Africa. Nkana has such rich history and it is one of the biggest teams on the continent,” he told the club’s media on his unveiling.

“My expectations are that we are going to give it our best as a team because I am a team player. I expect to win things for Nkana and supporters will definitely see good performance.”

Chipunza will be in the same team with fellow countrymen Gilroy Chimwemwe, Jimmy Dzingai, goalkeeper Talbert Shumba and Kevin Moyo.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

ZPC Kariba Lose 20 Players…

ZPC Kariba have lost more than twenty players since the coronavirus pandemic affected the domestic league in 2020.

According to coach Godfrey Tamirepi, the club has only remained with six players from the previous squad, but they have since recruited new stars in preparation for the 2021 PSL season.

Some of the new signings include Tapiwa Chilenga, Trust Nyabinde, Alois Gwanzura, Johane Sibanda, Tawanda Muchaya, Toto Banda and Blessing Sibanda.

“There was an exodus of players, and the number is quite big,” Tamirepi told ZTN. “About six players remained, I got an almost new team.”

Meanwhile, the 2021 season is expected to start in May but with a different format.

The proposed format would see teams placed into four groups and play a round-robin competition in 6-8 weeks.

Top teams from the groups proceed to the semi-finals with the winners meeting in the final match to be staged at a venue to be agreed with the sponsors.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

Billiat Eager To Reclaim Warriors Place

Khama Billiat says he expects to return to the national team fold very soon and is now working on his fitness levels.

The winger missed the Warriors’ final two qualifiers against Botswana and Zambia in March through a leg injury which ruled him out for two months. He has now recovered, and has been training with his Kaizer Chiefs side.

This was the first time in recent periods Billiat had to sit out in decisive games and see Zimbabwe book their place in the Africa Cup of Nations finals to be held in Cameroon in January.

“It was great to see the Zimbabwe qualify for the Afcon last weekend,” Billiat told Chiefs website. “Hopefully, I will come in and join the team and match the level of fitness required by the team.

“I have been out for some months now and it has not been easy. I have been coming to training and doing rehab, working hard trying to make sure that I spend less time outside.”

The Azam FC striker damaged his hamstring during the game against Mwadui FC last month. He spent over two weeks on the sidelines and missed a game in the Tanzanian Premier League plus Zimbabwe’s final two matches in the Afcon Qualifiers.

The 24-year old featured in Wednesday’s training with the team and is now expected to play a part in Friday’s league game against Mtibwa Sugar.

Auxillia Mnangagwa Orders Police To Bash Hapless Students

Crisis In Zimbabwe Coalition Implores War Veterans To Promote Peace And Tolerance

Marvellous Khumalo

By A Correspondent- The Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition has called on war veterans to ensure peace and tolerance in their involvement in the country’s political processes.

In a statement, Chairperson of the CiZC Marvellous Khumalo raised fears that recent calls by president Emmerson Mnangagwa for war veterans to campaign for Zanu Pf will translate into violence.

Said Khumalo:

“The President’s call to the war veterans raises fears of a violent election especially given the fact that war veterans aligned to the ruling party have a well known record and history of violence against opposition supporters.

… we hope the President’s call for war veterans to mobilise and campaign for Zanu PF does not translate into reactivation of the ruling party’s violence machinery.”

We publish below the full text by CiZC:

“On March 27, 2021, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, while addressing the Zanu PF Central Committee meeting urged war veterans to rally behind the ruling party, Zanu PF and campaign for the party in the upcoming 2023 elections.

The President’s call to the war veterans raises fears of a violent election especially given the fact that war veterans aligned to the ruling party have a well known record and history of violence against opposition supporters.

War veterans are on record pledging to go to war should Zanu PF lose in elections and this has largely been the basis of their violence and terror against opposition supporters.

During the bloody 2008 election re-run, war veterans aligned to Zanu PF were among the perpetrators of the violence that led to the death of more than 200 opposition supporters.

It is in light of this background that Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition implores the war veterans to ensure peace and tolerance in their involvement in the country’s political processes.

The huge sense of entitlement on the part of the war veterans (which has also been their basis for political violence) is unacceptable in a democratic society.

As Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition, we hope the President’s call for war veterans to mobilise and campaign for Zanu PF does not translate into reactivation of the ruling party’s violence machinery.

On another note, Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition remains deeply concerned over the continued arbitrary arrests and incarceration of civic society and opposition activists as part of efforts by the ruling party to silence dissent.

The continued arrests, which have been condemned by some sections of the international community, have put a huge dent on the country’s image and consequently, continue to work against efforts at re-engaging the international community.

As Crisis Coalition, we reiterate that respect for democratic principles and upholding citizens’ fundamental rights enshrined in the constitution should form the basis for meaningful re-engagement with the international community.

Abednico Bhebhe: I Haven’t Joined MDC Alliance, I’ve Been There Since 2017… | FULL TEXT

…I’ve Been There Since 2017…

Reflections on the State of the Opposition in Zimbabwe

By Hon Abednico Bhebhe.

The continued polarisation within the MDC family has long been a cause of concern to many progressive Zimbabweans. My position on this matter is beyond doubt to anyone as I have not only decried the persistent fractionalisation of the opposition, but I have mad e bald efforts in contributing to harmony and tranquillity. Of course, often misunderstood and hence misconstrued as if this is about an individual or personal interests. The state of the opposition in this country is worrying not just because some of us a re in the opposition. In fact, it is Zimbabwe’s continued political decay and economic breakdown that necessitate an urgent alternative to this politicoeconomic chaos brought by the long years of ZANU PF rule as propped by the securocrats. Only the MDC so far stands the best chance to provide that alternative and usher in a democratic and responsive government in our beloved country.

My reflections on the state of the MDC currently is an attempt to put into perspective the recent developments and their historical context. Most often readers take a panoramic view of issues and risk losing the meaning that gets clouded by conflicting narratives. Actually, nothing has changed in my position on this matter particularly for those who remember my public pronoun cements since 2017 when the MDC was plunged into this internal discord. Obviously, I shun the bait to make this matter as if it is about my person as Abednico Bhebhe. No, it is not about me but about our situation as concerned citizens and responsible lead ers. As I have said before and I reiterate here, my desire and efforts towards a united and strong opposition MDC is based on principle and common sense. It is common sense that only a united opposition can electorally dislodge the ruinous ZANU PF regime a nd usher an accountable government in its place.

This is what the suffering majority want, and I am merely articulating the aspirations of the generality of Zimbabweans as a politician. If we jog our memories backward to 5 th August 2017, I was one of the three leaders of the MDC who wrote to the party president pledging our full support of a coalition of opposition parties but we also raised reservations on the risk of centralisation of power in one person and other procedural inconsistencies that could u practices. Similarly, on 11 th ndermine democratic December 2017 (see Daily News) I stated that, “Concerning the MDC Alliance, no one within the opposition ranks does not want a coalition. We all want it.” In that same interview I posed the rhetoric question, “Are you available to the highest bidder? Does it mean if ZANU PF offers more than the MDC is prepared to give, then you will join them?”

At that time, I was neither prophetic nor even thinking it possible that some of our colleagues, not one or two, bu rejoin ZANU PF after all what it has done to this country. As a mature politician, t a horde of them would indeed I will not be tempted to say I told you so. I believe that it is my duty to engage fellow comrades genuinely and truthfully all the time. And I have always done so. In my piece, The deferred hope of the Zimbabwe we wanted , I cited George Orwell’s Animal Farm, ‘Man serves the interests of no creature except himself,’ as I
disgust on the level of depravity Zimbabwean oppositional politics had sunk to in terms of hatred, mudslinging and smear campaigns. I really implored the MDC leaders from acting like ZANU PF in employing violence, tribalism, sexism and all forms of corruption. Such are sentiments shared by the generality of Zimbabweans who yearn for nothing other than a better and prosperous Zimbabwe. For the record, I hold no brief against any MDC leader. I have expressed my considered views to all of them directly and publicly. My stand on unity of the MDC as well as of all oppositional forces is known by all the various leaders of our once glorious movement. In my letter to then Acting President of the MDCT on 4th June 2020 I concluded my presentation as follows: ‘I have acquitted myself profoundly well in the circumstances we find ourselves and I make no apology for my strong resolve that we find each other with our erstwhile comrades, while such an opportunity is available. It is a position that I am entitled to and cannot be a reason for abrasion in my relations with you.’ The eff uniting our factions has been fraught with suspicions and deeport of seated hatred. But this is not about individual feelings, it is about what is good for the people of Zimbabwe. The MDC is a people’s project and leaders come and go. Also, in the inaug ural MDCT Standing Committee meeting after the Supreme Court judgement I emphasized my position, particularly as then reinstated National Organising Secretary. These were my points to the Standing Committee, ….

(iv) I take it that both formations of the s ame family (MDCT) are bound by the Supreme Court judgement and we are meeting in that understanding,

(v) In terms of executing my obligations, my task is to mobilize stakeholders eligible for the Extraordinary Congress which is hard upon us,

(vi) These stakeholders are party members as at 2014, but physically distributed between the two formations of the party: some are with the MDCT the MDCAlliance and others are with .

(vii) My immediate task is to bring these delegates together at a single venue, at the same time, before a united leadership, for the single purpose of consummating the business of electing a substantive leader of the party following the death of President Tsvangirai in 2018 as the constitution prescribes.’ In my view, I was duty bound b y both principle and our constitution to bring together all eligible members to choose their leader and not a charade that eventually resulted from pursuit of narrow agendas and personal egos. It was time to heal and unite the MDC notwithstanding the pain and hurt sustained by many. We do it for the bigger cause and not individuals no matter what their sense of selfimportance. Genuine leaders should have put the organisation and people before individual concerns, genuine as they may be. Citing these few in stances of my public pronouncements, hopefully gives context to where we are coming from and possible the future trajectory.

Those opposed to the principle of constitutionalism and unity of the MDC have chosen to target me as a person and not the principle that I espouse. They prefer not to play the ball but harm a player. All done to give politics a dirty name when it is simple greed, manipulation and lack of character. Against this backdrop, it is silly and mischievous if not devious too, to suggest that Abednico Bhebhe has joined the MDC Alliance. I remain where I have always been and consistently so since 2017 when the discord began, I stand for unity of the MDC which is the only avenue to consign ZANU PF to the dustbin of history come 2023. Out of ignorance or malice, perhaps a combination of both, some have created an impression that I have hop knobbed from one party to another. As far as I am concerned, I have stood by my beliefs which have not changed, and they are not about to change. I have worked with progress people across the factional divide, and I do not regret it and will continue to do so as long as that would yield a stronger opposition against the heinous ZANU PF. It is in ZANU PF taste to celebrate the socalled rejoining of t he party and as democratic forces we strive to bring all together and work for our ultimate goal. Last but not least, we should be all concerned with the deteriorating security conditions in our country and deep poverty of both urban social, economic and and rural masses. That should motivate us to reflect on the state of our opposition forces and their state of preparedness to dismantle the securocratic dictatorship in Zimbabwe. It should not be about Bhebhe or any opposition leader but the bigger goal. 3

“Residents Associations, CSOs Critical Actors In Devolution Process”: CHRA

The Government of Zimbabwe acknowledged Residents Associations and Civil Society Organizations as critical partners and actors in the devolution implementation process in Zimbabwe.

At the National Devolution Indaba held yesterday in Harare, the Minister of Local Government and Public Works in his speech delivered by Mr Shumba, the Chief Director in the Ministry of Local Government, the Minister stated that, “Residents Associations and Civil Society Organizations have a role to play in growing the capacity of ratepayers by making them aware of the obligations and rights in order for them to make a reasonable demands from their local authorities

The Constitution of Zimbabwe and the Decentralization and Devolution Policy recognizes citizens as promoters of local democracy through performing a watchdog role over elected and non-elected leadership.

In sustaining discussion with the Minister of Local Government on devolution implementation in Zimbabwe, the Residents Associations and Civic Society Organization handed over an Engagement and Position Paper to the Ministry of Local Government on citizen’s expectations and aspiration on devolution implementation. The key common positions are;

·       Quota System to prioritize transformative participation which recognizes equal representation of women, young women, youth, people with disabilities and any other special needs groups in the composition of auxiliary structures of the provincial council and all elected and non-elected local authorities’ structures.

·       Enactment of subsidiary laws and institutional frameworks that facilitate operationalization of devolution and the Ministry must ensure the accelerated enactment of the Provincial and Metropolitan Councils Act in order to ensure there are clear devolution structures in place. The process of crafting devolution legislation must be participatory, inclusive and time-bound.

·       Devolution and democratization of development; The inter-ministerial cabinet committee is inaccessible to the general citizenry and therefore inappropriate as regards the facilitation of citizen participation necessary when embarking on a process of devolution implementation requiring state redesign with such far reaching implications on people’s daily lives. It is also reasoned that the central government cannot be an independent arbiter in a process of sharing power with other tiers where it is an interested party.

It is therefore recommended that the government set up an independent body to preside over devolution implementation as this facilitates a more inclusive process which will gain greater public support. There is a need to ensure that devolution expands and democratizes spaces to facilitate effective participation of all groups in planning, formulation of by-laws/ordinances and budgeting.

Devolved structures should aim to facilitate access to information for improved citizen participation, transparency and accountability. In line with the principle of democratic participation, citizens should have the final say on the recall of elected officials

·       Devolution as a cross cutting governance principle; Devolution is not only a domain of local government. It should be extended to all service delivery functions including environment, natural resources governance, health, water, roads and infrastructure and the attendant fiscal resources to mitigate against unfunded mandates.

·       Recruitment and staffing; Recruitment of senior officials of local authorities and provincial councils should be done at the local level

·       Allocation and disbursement of devolution funds; There is need for government to promulgate a law for the “at least 5%” revenue sharing formula to allow for predictability of the funds that are to be disbursed to other ties of government. Lack of clarity on the disbursement formulae will result in conflict between citizens and government and this requires enabling legislation to resolve. It would also appear that local authorities in their representative capacity of the local citizens don’t have discretion on how the funds are used. Thus, accountability sways more to the top-down than bottom-up planning framework.

·       De-concentration of Central Government; The appointment of a Provincial Minister of State and Devolution in a governance and political space presided by a Provincial Council Chairperson is duplicitous with the potential to create a role conflict and is therefore undesirable apart from being an extra burden to the tax-payer. It is therefore recommended to dissolve the post of provincial Minister of State and Devolution.

CHRA will continue to engage government, residents associations and Civic Society Organizations in promoting democratic local governance in Zimbabwe.

Artisanal Miner Robbed At Gun Point

By A Correspondent- A 34 year old Shamva artisanal miner was robbed of her US$3500 by three armed robbers last Friday.

Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the case.

“I can confirm a robbery case in Shamva where a female artisanal miner was robbed of her $3500 by three suspects. One had a pistol while two others were wielding machetes,” Mundembe said.

It is alleged one suspect broke into the complainant’s house at night and pointed a gun at her while demanding cash.

The complainant did not budge to the demands saying she had none prompting  the suspect to open the door for two other machete wielding robbers.

They force marched her into the bedroom, threatened to shoot her before she surrendered the money to them.

The robbers sprayed the complainant’s eyes with an unknown substance and kicked her on her throat before disappearing into the dark.

Police warned people to tighten their security and bank their money to avoid such incidences.

“We are appealing to members of the public to tighten their security in their homes and never keep large sums of money, instead they should bank the money,” Mundembe said.

Women’s Ruby in Africa:
On the African continent, women’s rugby has seen tremendous growth. In the last decade it increased from 50 000 female players in 2012, to over 260 000 in 2018 and 350 000 in 2020.

For this tremendous growth to continue, strong leadership in women’s rugby needs to continue, the Women’s Executive Leadership Scholarship is one of the tools that will enable this.

Africa will also be well represented when South Africa participates in the next rugby World Cup women in New Zealand in 2022 and Kenya in the Olympic Games in 2021.

Zimpost Covid-19 Awareness Stamps Officially Launched

The Hon Vice President and Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr Constantino Chiwenga , yesterday unveiled the Zimbabwe Post (ZimPost) Covid-19 awareness stamps which are aimed at spreading special messages on prevention of the spread of corona virus.

VP Dr Chiwenga stressed the importance of communication as the country is battling against the spread of the lethal virus stating that more credible information is required to reach people so as to triumph.

“The stamp will carry the message everywhere where the letter goes and will play a pivotal role in the provision of information on the pandemic” he said.

He added that the civid-19 awareness stamp, just like all other stamps , consists of a unique artwork which speaks the language of pictures and people from all walks of life can easily interpret and understand the message.

VP Dr Chiwenga applauded (Zimpost) for the role that they continue to play in supporting the health delivery sector while delivering their mandate.

He maintained that over the years the company complemented government efforts in the fight against diseases in their unique way through complimentary stamp issues that raised awareness and promoted prevention of diseases.

The VP expressed gratitude for the innovative intervention on awareness raising by Zimpost.

“I am pleased to see the well-timed release of the covid-19 awareness stamps which raise awareness on vaccinations and other preventive measures such as washing of hands, sanitization, temperature screening and proper wearing of masks” said Dr Chiwenga.

He added that information must keep flowing to people to keep them informed and alert using all means available.

It is vital for all stakeholders to remember that every individual has an essential role to play in containing the spread of corona virus.

Eddie Cross: Paltry Taxes Cripple Recovery

By Eddie Cross| Shocking evidence of tax leakages hogged the limelight this week, with Finance and Economic Development minister Mthuli Ncube saying the informal sector, which makes up 70% of Zimbabwe’s gross domestic product (GDP), was remitting less than 1% in taxes.

This explains why the ailing economy has been struggling with crumbling public infrastructure, while social security interventions are grounded. It also reveals how a cluster of interventions unveiled three years ago to pin the informal sector to pay taxes failed to yield results.

In an interview with the Zimbabwe Independent, Ncube said the rapid informalisation of the economy posed challenges to the rebuilding of the economy.

Official statistics indicate that the informal sector makes between 60% and 70% of the GDP, after de-industrialisation pushed thousands out of jobs and forced them to set up SMEs.

The crisis has been compounded by the fact that out of the 40% formal corporations remitting taxes, the majority have slipped into a crisis, as demand has been hammered by diminishing buying power.

The Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) recently said only 47% of industrial capacity was utilised in firms.

But the country has one of the region’s weakest revenue collection systems, failing to police big corporations that have emerged informally, earning bigger revenues than some formal players.

“Formal businesses, which are the major contributors to revenue are currently operating, albeit at reduced levels,” Ncube said.

“The informal sector contributes less than 1% of total revenue. Other key sectors such as manufacturing, mining and agriculture are fully operational and are the major tax contributors. Revenue flows from these sectors may not be greatly affected. On the positive side, demand for airtime and data usage, as well as mobile transactions have increased dramatically, thereby increasing potential for revenue.”

He said this strategy had helped the government channel foreign currency from the informal to the formal sector.

FCA nostro balances increased to US$1,2 billion in December last year, from US$1,1 billion in December 2019, according to official data.

In 2018, the government laid out several strategies to tap into the informal sector including tough measures to force commuter omnibuses, taxis, tuck shops and hair salons to pay taxes.

But this has had serious implications on the government’s capacity to deliver growth inducing projects.

What has kept Zimbabwe on its feet has been the exponential rise in United States dollar taxes, which shot by 186% to US$771,4 million in 2020.

This followed a decision in March last year to give firms the greenlight to trade in foreign currency, less than a year after the government reintroduced the Zimbabwean dollar as the sole currency.

The policy shift marked the end of a decade-long multiple currency regime introduced in February 2009 following the collapse of the Zimbabwean dollar under 500 billion percent inflation in December 2008. Ncube said the government’s longterm plan was to end the use of foreign currencies.

“Government should not lead the market towards dollarisation, especially on goods and services which do not directly require foreign currency as input. Therefore, the Zimbabwe dollar remains the main currency in the economy,” he said.

“However, where there is sufficient justification for use of foreign currency for the convenience of the transacting public such as road toll fees, such requests will receive due attention, consistent with the SI 85 of 2020,” Ncube added.

SI 85 provides that any person may pay for goods and services in foreign currency using free funds.

“Perpetrators Of Domestic Violence Should Face Stiff Penalties”: LEAD President

By Linda Masarira- Cases of domestic violence continue to increase in Zimbabwe and it is very worrisome as women continue to lose their lives in these cases.

Just last week pictures went viral on social media of a man who shot dead his wife and brother in law over a marriage dispute. Its rather unfortunate that our society seems to have normalized the abnormal by keeping silent on matters of domestic violence which continue to affect livelihoods on a daily basis.

We have read time and again of high profile leaders being perpetrators of Gender Based Violence and being let off the hook. Leaders should lead by example and desist from any form of violence whether its domestic, political or social.

We need leaders who lead by example and set an example that domestic violence is wrong and totally unacceptable. The courts in Zimbabwe should start being serious about issues of Gender Based Violence. Women are not objects that should be panel beaten time and again.

As long as there is no sincerity by our courts to give stiff penalties to GBV perpetrators, we will continue losing lives and nurturing a culture of violence in our communities. Women continue to bear the brunt of domestic violence.

Zimbabwe endorsed major international conventions and instruments by making them part of the laws of the land. The country instituted fundamental policies and legal provisions which in theory, offer women protection of their rights in society yet practically women continue to suffer and lose lives to their spouses.

The Anti-domestic Violence Council should be more visible that is if it still exists. Cases of violence within households continue to rise despite the enactment of the domestic violence law which has not been enforced to curb the vice.

The Domestic Violence Act conceptualised domestic violence as physical abuse, emotional, verbal and psychological abuse, economic abuse, malicious damage to property, the list is endless. As a woman who fights against any form of gender based violence, I stand in solidarity with all women who have been subjected to gender based violence and encourage them to report any assult, rape or harassment.

The emotional burden of GBV on women is hard to carry and the only way to end the violence is by speaking out and reporting these cases. Cases of apparent leniency in the sentencing of male offenders convicted of violence often attract media attention suggesting that this type of violence is not being taken seriously by the Zimbabwe criminal justice agencies.

It is time women value their bodies and refuse to be punching bags. An injury to one woman is an injury to all women. Women’s organizations and pressure groups should take the lead in advocating for peaceful communities.

Polarization should not limit nor silence our voices. United we stand as women and divided we fall into oblivion. Be your sisters keeper. In conclusion, the police should ensure that they restart robust awareness campaigns countrywide against domestic violence.

LEAD urges people to desist from domestic violence and not to solve disputes through violent means.

Peace starts with you and me!

Harare’s Mabvuku-Tafara Suburbs Clock 30 Years Without Running Water

The Community Water Alliance (CWA) yesterday called for urgency in addressing water challenges in Harare’s Mabvuku-Tafara high density suburbs where residents have gone for 30 years without running water.

CWA spokesperson Chris Gohori on Tuesday said council’s failure to provide tap water had exposed the residents to waterborne diseases.

He said this during the launch of borehole projects at the Later Day Adventist Church in Mabvuku.

“Some places like Mabvuku-Tafara have gone for 30 years without water,” Gohori said.

“We are now educating the Mabvuku-Tafara communities about how the coronavirus spreads. We recently also distributed hygiene kits, soaps, sanitisers, and water pills to reduce the spread of waterborne diseases and COVID-19.”

Mercy Kasvosve, a Mabvuku-Tafara councillor said residents were using old wells which were prone to contamination by raw sewage.

“The boreholes are there, but there are so many people in Mabvuku-Tafara who fetch water from them,” Kasvosve said.

Sudan Pays USD335 million Compensation Over Bombings

We are pleased to announce that the United States received the $335 million provided by Sudan to compensate victims of the 1998 bombings of the U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania and the USS Cole in 2000 as well as the 2008 killing of USAID employee John Granville.

Achieving compensation for these victims has been a top priority for the Department of State.  We hope this aids them in finding some resolution for the terrible tragedies that occurred.  Last week, the Department transmitted to Congress the Secretary’s certification restoring Sudan’s sovereign immunities pursuant to the Sudan Claims Resolution Act enacted last December.  We appreciate Sudan’s constructive efforts over the past two years to work with us to resolve these long-outstanding claims.  With this challenging process behind us, U.S.-Sudan relations can start a new chapter.  We look forward to expanding our bilateral relationship and to continuing our support for the efforts of the civilian-led transitional government to deliver freedom, peace, and justice to the Sudanese people.

ZACC Launches Fresh Investigation Into Plunder Of Cold Storage Commission

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) has launched a fresh investigation into allegations that Zanu-PF bigwigs unjustly benefited from lengthy leases from the ailing Cold Storage Company (CSC), prejudicing the state of millions of dollars.

Some of the lease agreements for the industrial and commercial properties under 35-year leases are equipped with water pumps, drinking ponds, dip tanks and paddocks with a capacity to hold a minimum of 200 cattle and a maximum of 500. The commercial stands also include employee accommodation.

The leases, granted to the bigwigs for a song, were exposed by the auditorgeneral (AG) Mildred Chiri, in her 2016 forensic audit, which implicated senior Zanu-PF officials, including secretary for administration Obert Mpofu and late vice presidents John landa Nkomo and Joseph Msika. Former CSC CeO Ngoni Chinogaramombe was also named in the report.

Following the explosive forensic probe into CSC dealings, a whistleblower recently alerted Zacc to investigate suspected corruption into the lease agreements.

Zacc spokesperson John Makamure confirmed yesterday that an active investigation was underway. He said: “Yes, the matter is under investigation, but i cannot divulge any more details.”

It is not yet clear whether the named officials in the forensic audit have been questioned yet.

Zacc is investigating how the CSC management unprocedurally approved to lease its vast property portfolio to 247 tenants who were granted long leases, some spanning up to 40 years and expiring in 2040.

A former CSC employee, recently, wrote a damning report to Zacc chairperson loice Matanda-Moyo calling for a review of the findings of the aG’s forensic audit.

Chiri’s report had raised a red flag over why CSC entered into lease agreements without proper “standard lease rates/charges . . . and documentary evidence to support the rates applied”.

The whistleblower’s letter to Matanda-Moyo reads: “i write to your honour with grave concern from the findings of the above report (aG forensic report). as a stakeholder in the Cold Storage Company, i strongly believe it is imperative that you look into its findings. i believe this report details the deadly misgivings that led CSC going belly up.

“The report clearly details how a cabal of institutionalised corrupt CSC stalwarts set to take advantage of the company’s lack of structure, proper procedure, corporate governance checks and balances to loot from the state and people.”

After the CSC audit, Chiri then wrote to the firm’s management requesting for unaudited books of accounts.

In a letter dated February 16, 2018, Chiri said: “i will be conducting a follow-up exercise on the submission of financial statements from February 19, 2018 and we would like the following documents to be ready.

“Board minutes for 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, CVs for all board members, personal files for all senior accounts and internal audit, ledgers. . . and management accounts.”

Several of the properties were leased to now deceased Zanu-PF bigwigs and they are likely to have been taken over by their respective families.

Chiri’s forensic audit report published in 2016 shows that Mpofu, who at one time boasted to be one of the country’s largest cattle ranchers, is renting a property measuring 2 000 square metres for US$841 per month.

Repeated efforts to get a comment from Mpofu were fruitless as his mobile phone went unanswered several times.

Nkomo, who died in 2013, had entered a 35-year lease agreement with CSC in 2005 for a 2 000m2 property for US$252 per month. Msika, who was vice-president between 1999 and 2009, was renting a property measuring 2 000m2 for a monthly fee of US$298.

Chinogaramombe was also renting a 2 000m2 property for 30 years at a cost of US$1 584 per month. retired Major-General Jevan Maseko, who died in 2013, was granted a lease for 1 700m2 for US$843 monthly rentals.

Former diplomat, the late Chief Neville Ndondo was granted a 35-year lease with exclusive rights to occupy a property measuring 1 600m2.

The forensic audit report also underscored that while CSC was leasing its assets, the firm’s management led by former executive Chinogaramombe was allegedly paid salary “advances in excess of salary arrears owing to management” at a time the embattled firm was owing US$4 million to workers “for unpaid gross salaries and allowances”.

It (forensic audit report) also observed that “CSC management were owed a total of US$273 152,74.”

“As at June 30, 2015, against the long outstanding arrears to other employees, CSC had overpaid salaries to two management employees. Messrs Sanyika and Zvaita received salary advances of US$313,67 and US$66,79 respectively in excess of their salary accruals,” the aG’s forensic report reads.

“Despite CSC being unable to pay employees outstanding salaries, for the period under review, the company advanced certain staff members within the management grouping, personal loans worth US$74 531,25 at an interest rate of 8% per annum and the balance outstanding of US$26 150,00.”

To avert liquidation, CSC was placed under a corporate rescue plan superintended by Ngoni Kudenga of bdO Zimbabwe Chartered accountants.

At the time of publishing, Kudenga had not responded to questions on how much CSC is owed in rental arrears. but sources close to the embattled firm, which used to handle up to 150 000 tonnes of beef and associated by-products a year, while exporting beef to the European Union (EU), told the Zimbabwe Independent that some of the Zanu-PF bigwigs had stopped paying their rentals “a long time ago, complicating matters to turn around the company”.

Kudenga’s new role in the affairs of the troubled company has also come under scrutiny, as CSC struggles to escape from the stormy waters of insolvency and total collapse.

He was appointed as CSC judicial manager by agriculture minister anxious Masuka in December last year. His role to save CSC from collapse is being challenged by the allied Food Workers’ Union of Zimbabwe (AFWUZ) -which represents the company’s workers.

Through its lawyers, Mathonsi Ncube law Chambers, AFWUZ applied to the High Court challenging Kudenga’s suitability to preside over CSC affairs.

“It is a fact that the two are long-time business associates. in fact, when the Honourable Minister of agriculture (Masuka) was the chief executive officer for Zimbabwe agricultural Society, Mr Ngoni kudenga was his principal as the president of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society,” part of the application by AFWUZ lodged at the High Court reads.

“This cronyism will clearly compromise our clients’ interests and therefore submit that Mr Ngoni Kudenga is not independent, competent and clearly conflicted. The allegations raised against Dr Masuka in HC177/20 are of a serious nature and hampered the revival of Cold Storage Company (pvt) ltd.”

As part of this running investigative series into the dramatic collapse of CSC, this newspaper on February 2 revealed how a consortium of local industrialists and companies CSC 2016 is angling to take over the defunct company through a US$225 million bid.

The company was authorised by the government to evaluate assets belonging to the meat processor despite a contract between the state and Boustead beef limited, which was later reportedly revoked.

The consortium is led by former CSC chief executive Eddie Cross and presidential advisory Committee (PAC) member Busisa Moyo. Moyo was appointed to chair the Zimbabwe investment and development authority (Zida) by president Emmerson Mnangagwa in March 2020.

Chiredzi Security Guard Murdered, Remains Burnt

By A Correspondent- A sixty-year-old Chiredzi security guard was allegedly murdered by unknown assailants who proceeded to throw his body into a fire.

The Herald reports that a search team comprising the police and ordinary people found the chopped head of Lazawa Salani of Buffalo Range buried in a small shallow pit about 1.5km from an open space near the Chiredzi Magistrates’ Court where the deceased guarded.

The deceased was employed at Maria Mabasa Plastic Scrap Collection Company in the town and police recovered his blood-stained uniforms and trails of blood on some bales of plastic scrap he guarded.

Masvingo police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident adding that investigations were underway to establish the motive and suspects behind the alleged murder.

Dhewa also said police investigators found some of Salawi’s remains burning in a smouldering bonfire that had been set by his suspected killers at his workplace.

His remains were taken to Chiredzi District Hospital for a postmortem.

This comes amid a spike in the cases of armed robberies across the country.

Matemadanda Scoffs At Reports That He Was Fired

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF Political Commissar and Defense Ministry Deputy Minister Victor Matemadanda had scoffed at reports that he was fired by President Mnangagwa last week when he was out of the blue deployed on a foreign mission to become the new Zimbabwean Ambassador to Mozambique.

I am only being told through social media that I was fired, but on Saturday I attended the central committee meeting and did my work. Yesterday (Monday), I was in the office doing my work as the national political commissar. I don’t know who fired me in the press. If anything has been done by Zanu PF it is the secretary for information and publicity who will announce that.

But if there is anyone in the politburo … who got excited that I had been fired, when at the end of last week’s meeting it was not announced by the spokesperson, and they decided to tell the nation that I had been fired, this shows that there are foolish people at that level of leadership.

Matemadanda also addressed reports that he was being insubordinate to senior party officials like Obert Mpofu and said they were his juniors:

People are reacting to social media to say I was insubordinate to the likes of (Zanu PF secretary for administration) Obert Mpofu, Patrick Chinamasa, July Moyo, Mudha (Owen Ncube) and Dickson Dzora, but you know very well that I am senior to most of those people. How does a senior become insubordinate to his juniors? People just enjoy writing about me, but I don’t know where they are getting this from. I am a soldier and I don’t deploy myself. I get deployed by my commander. I was deployed in Mozambique when I was a serving soldier … where there were live bullets.

I had my own gun, and was prepared to kill or be killed, but I never tried to reason whether it was fair or unfair. This is my behaviour. So, we don’t question when we are deployed, although there is nothing yet that I have been formally informed about regarding the talk that I was redeployed.

He categorically stated that he had not been told about any redeployment and he has not been assigned to a new role anywhere:

The president has not assigned me although he has the right to send me wherever he wants. He simply told me that there is some critical assignment to give me. I don’t know if there is someone he later told that he wanted to send me to Mozambique or he has fired me, like I am now hearing.

He maintained he is still a politburo member:

All he said was that where he wanted to send me, someone of my level in politics was required and that is the politburo level. When we are in the politburo it doesn’t matter that I am in the commissariat, but the level I have is that I am a member of the politburo.

That has not been withdrawn and even as the secretary for the commissariat, I have not been replaced. If that was the case he (President Emmerson Mnangagwa) would have appointed my deputy, Omega Hungwe to act in my position, but he didn’t do that because I am still here,

Last week it emerged that Matemadanda who if he is assigned to Mozambique will seize to be the Zanu PF Political Commissar and possibly a member of the Politburo was demoted because the ruling party did not like the way DCC polls were conducted among other reasons.

OPINION: Lets Get Our Priorities Right

By Tinashe Eric Muzamhindo| It took me, almost 45 minutes to town, along the way, we have witnessed several accidents, and hustles, and my simple question where is ZINARA? Millions of dollars are being paid through toll fees, throughout the country, and today we don’t have a single spaghetti road in this country? We only have roundabouts, and we must learn to redirect our priorities towards proper Economic Recovery Strategies.

There is too much congestion in Harare. If I may ask, where is the Local Government Minister, July Moyo? Where is the Deputy Minister? Where is the local Government Board? Where is ZINARA? Where are the devolution funds? Who is administering local Government funds, devolution funds? , City council funds? Honestly, if I’m not mistaken, we are the only country in SADC, if not in the entire Africa, without spaghetti roads?

We have Chrome, we have alluvial diamonds, we have Great Dyke minerals involving huge mineral deposits such as gold, chrome etc, and today we have dams, death traps in the CBD. Unfortunately, we lack competent people around Strategic areas of Governance, and today we have a whole some Vice President opening a small bridge around Inyathi compounds in Matebelaland, leaving out a huge chunk of work in Harare. How then do we market our country, when tourists witness such stalemate?

Local Government Ministry, Harare City Council, Finance Ministry, ZINARA, ZIMRA and Tourism must constitute a board, and come up with a proper Strategy on how to make this town beautiful. We need Strategic Thinkers around key areas of Governance. This idea of Ministers touring dams, people’s farms, and meeting marketers must stop, go back to the drawing board, provide Strategic Thinking around the current trajectory. We need thinkers around critical issues affecting Zimbabweans.

Development must be ahead of politics. We can’t spend five years politicizing Development at the expense of more than 15 million people.

Some are already talking of 2023, when we don’t even have a single spaghetti road? Look at our roads, they have become death traps around the country, and yet funds were allocated for all these projects, and where is the money?

We need a proper Policy direction of this country.

Let’s get our priorities correct !!!
