Shebeen Owner Scalds Client With Hot Water Over US$2 Change

A Shebeen queen from Bulawayo was arrested for allegedly scalding with hot water a customer who had come to collect his change.

Brilliant Hlomai (34) of Ntabazinduna flats in Mzilikazi suburb appeared before Tredgold magistrate Ms Learnear Khumalo facing charges of assaulting Mr Kgomotso Nkosi (27), from the same area.

Hlomai was not asked to plead but was remanded in custody to 12 April as the court awaits a medical report on the extent of Mr Nkosi’s injuries.

SADC In Crunch Indaba Over Mozambique

By A Correspondent- The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation (OPDSC) meets on Thursday this week in Maputo, Mozambique to find ways to tackle an Islamist insurgency that threatens to spiral out of control in that country.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa, OPDSC chair, Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa are expected to attend the key meeting.

As the outgoing chair, Zimbabwe is part of the Troika together with the incoming chair, South Africa.

Islamic extremists have been carrying out terrorist attacks in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province since 2017 resulting in the deaths and displacement of thousands of people.

Last week the Islamic State terrorists overran a town called Palma, in Cabo Delgado province and killed several people while thousands fled into the bush.

French energy giant Total has shut down operations at its liquefied natural gas plant after withdrawing all staff from the region.

Total intends to invest US$20 billion in the project located on the Afungi peninsula near Palma.

Former Cop In Soup For Theft

By A Correspondent- Former police officer and three co-workers employed at Eric Mine in Matabeleland South province have been charged with theft of unspecified quantities of gold ore and concentrate from their employer.

The mine is owned by Insiza South MP Spare Sithole (Zanu-PF).

The quartet was betrayed by its flashy lifestyles which did not match its earnings.

Valentine Mahachi (36) of Gutu in Masvingo province, Tedious Bhurusa (23) of Chirumanzu and Marxwell Ncube (54), a former police officer of Bekezela township in Filabusi, initially appeared before resident magistrate Abednico Ndebele on March 28 following their arrest on March 26.

They were back in court last week, where they applied for bail pending trial and Ndebele remanded them to April 29 on $10 000 bail each.

They were ordered to report to police every last Friday of the month.

Their alleged accomplice Shelton Dines was also arrested and brought to court separately.

He was granted $10 000 bail on similar conditions. He will appear together with others for trial.

Prosecutor Shepherd Moyo told the court that the alleged theft took place between January and March 28 this year.

The court was told that on several occasions during the period in question, the four, with their other accomplices, who are still at large, would steal gold ore or concentrate, sell it and share the proceeds.

It is alleged that the theft came to light after one of the employees at the mine blew the whistle to management after noticing a change in the lifestyle of his colleagues, which was not commensurate with their earnings.

A report was made to the police, leading to their arrest.

On their arrest, Mahachi, who is a tractor driver at the mine, was found in possession of US$2 000, big radio speakers, an amplifier and a new vehicle worth US$3 900.

Bhurusa was found in possession of US$260 and $40, while nothing was recovered from Ncube and Dines.

Protest Looming Over Makomborero Haruzivishe’s Conviction

By A Correspondent- Several local human rights activists and civic society groups have threatened to storm the Harare Magistrates Courts today in protest against pro-democracy campaigner Makomborero Haruzivishe’s conviction.

Haruzivishe (29), an executive member of the MDC Alliance, will be sentenced today after he was convicted on charges of inciting public violence and resisting police arrest by Harare magistrate Judith Taruvinga on Wednesday last week.

But rights activists yesterday said Haruzivishe would be the first person to be convicted for public violence.

Rights defenders also took to different social media platforms where they argued that the pro-democracy campaigner was a victim of weaponisation of the law by the President Emmerson Mnangagwa-led government which is aimed at silencing critics and thwarting dissent.

“Tomorrow (today) the regime has to free @MakomboreroH or face something it has never faced or imagined facing before. The choice is the regime’s,” political activist Promise Mkwananzi tweeted.

The Southern Africa Youth Forum (SAYF), a co-ordinating platform for young people in the Southern African Development Committee region, urged the government to abide by the Constitution and respect the views of the youth, in a message posted on its Twitter handle.

“We are very concerned and worried over the conviction of a 29-year-old youth leader @MakomboreroH. We are reliably informed he was just expressing himself as provided in the Zimbabwe Constitution. We call for the government to work together and listen to young people’s views,” SAYF said.

It is the State’s case that Haruzivishe, on February 5, 2020 at the corner of First Street and Nelson Mandela Avenue in Harare, whistled to incite vendors to revolt against police brutality.

Haruzivishe, who was represented by Kossam Ncube of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, however, denied the allegations.

Lawyer Munyaradzi Gwisai yesterday described Haruzivishe’s conviction as “the beginning of a worrying trend of persecution of anti-government critics which gives rise to authoritarianism”.

“The possible sentence is a fine of up to level 12 or 10 years imprisonment is serious and severe. However, what is surprising is that there was no damage to property or to the police, but the court, however, decided to convict him under those circumstances,” Gwisai said.

“Under section 59 of the Constitution, citizens have the right to demonstrate peacefully and in this case, there is no evidence that the gathering which Haruziviishe participated in was not going to be peaceful. The criminal law should be consistent with constitutional provision on freedom of gathering and association,” he said.

Activist Namatai Kwekweza said failure to protest against Haruziviishe’s possible incarceration would mean that other activists would suffer the same fate in future, hence the need to speak against persecution of activists and harassment of protestors.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said he would not comment on the issue as he was travelling.

Redcliff Woman Strangles Six-Year-Old Step Son To Death

A Redcliff woman allegedly strangled her six-year-old stepson to death and locked his eight-year-old sister in a bedroom that she tried to set on fire so that she could inherit her husband’s house.

Alice Chikono (24) of T.C 1 in Torwood Redcliff reportedly killed Dean Dube with her bare hands on Easter Friday and hid his body in the house.

She allegedly locked his sister in the bedroom after switching on a stove and covering it with a blanket, apparently hoping the blanket would catch fire and set the room on fire.

Chikono allegedly fled to Harare after making a false report to the police claiming the boy was missing.

There was a power cut soon after she left the house thereby putting her plans off rail.

Chikono had allegedly been planning to kill the children for more than one year.

She was arrested in Harare on Saturday where she had fled to and she was arraigned before Kwekwe magistrate Mrs Florence Nago facing a murder charge.

Mrs Nago did not ask her to plead and remanded her in custody to 17 April.

According to court papers, Chikono strangled the boy to death “so that she would inherit the house belonging to his father, Mr Tonywell Dube since he was the only son.”

The visibly shaken Mr Dube gave a horrendous account of how his son was murdered.

Dube (49) said he was away in Chakari when the cold blooded killing occurred.

“I was away at work when I was called that the boy was missing so I was constantly checking whether he had been found. I was only called by relatives and advised to rush home but they did not tell me what had happened,” said Mr Dube fighting back tears.

“When I arrived, that is when I was told about the incident. It broke my heart and I am still in pain,” he said.

After Chikono’s arrest in the capital, Mr Dube managed to talk to her on what led her to commit the crime.

“She told me that the plan had been in the pipeline for over a year. Her aunt (name withheld) who is based in Gokwe, was the one who was nagging her to kill Dean since he was the only son and if I die, it was going to be hard for her to inherit my house,” said Mr Dube.

He said Chikono narrated how she committed the gruesome killing.

“She told me that she throttled the boy with her hands until he died while outside the house. She dragged the body inside the house before locking the elder sister who is about eight years old in the other room before attempting to burn down the house,” said Dube.

A neighbour, on condition of anonymity, said a power cut saved the life of the girl, whose name was not given.

“The girl is very lucky to be alive because Chikono switched on the stove and put a blanket on the stove so that it catches fire which was supposed to then spread to the rest of the room. She then fled to Harare. But soon after she did that, there was a power outage. That is what saved the girl,” said the neighbour.

He said after Chikono made a false police report that the boy was missing, the community organised a search party as they were unaware that he was already dead.

“We became suspicious when we found the doors locked as we came to check on progress. That is when we forcibly broke the door and entered inside only to find a lifeless body and the girl crying in the bedroom which was also locked. That is how we found out that she had killed the boy,” said the neighbour.

The toddler’s body has since been ferried to Bulawayo where it awaits post-mortem.

Kwame Nkrumah Ideological Institute Demands Justice And Free Education For Africans

By Benjamin Anyagre-The KNII calls on all African States to offer free education to students from the first, second and tertiary institutions and demand justice on the murder of NTUMBA.

Indeed, we still remember in clear and sharp agony, the Sharpville massacre, and that should remind the Police of excessively brutal use of force against innocent children and future leaders of South Africa and other parts of Africa, who simply demanded their basic and inalienable rights.

The innocent blood of these children murdered in cold blood by the apartheid Police forces cannot easily be written off, nor forgotten, for the blood of the victims of the Sharpville and Kassinger massacres weren’t shed in vain but spoke to victory against the forces of apartheid armed to the teeth.

Marcus Garvey asserted that the people who will concentrate on science and education will be the people to succeed.

Almost every aspect of man’s existence emanates from education and its related outlets.
Quality education helps in various ways to boost the GDP of Nations.

It is in this regard that money ought to be invested into the educational sector to birth creativity, invention and development models suitable for Africa’s societal advancement.

Africa is the only place where free access to education is lacking, suppressed for fear of its positive outcomes against the continuous exploitation of the naturally endowed resources of Africa.

It is an unnegotiable fundamental right to free and quality education for the children of Africa and so the spirit of Africanism should not be killed by denying the children of Africa the necessary education to fight the odds of the future.

The potency of education eradicates illiteracy and gross ignorance, an off-shoot of poverty, hunger and diseases and forestall a more confident society.

The future of Africa must be secured with the appropriate opportunities offered to the future leaders of the continent.

Long live the student struggle for free and quality education in Africa.

Makomborero Haruzivishe Sentencing- A Call For Solidarity

06-04-2021

Today MDC Alliance Youth Assembly National Executive Committee member and a hero of our struggle Makomborero Haruzivishe will appear at Rotten Row Magistrate Courts for sentencing following his conviction last Wednesday on trumped charges of ‘inciting violence’.

Cde Mako as Haruzivishe is popularly referred to faces up to 20 years in prison for a crime he did not commit.

As per our norm we call upon all progressive young people to make way to the courts today in solidarity with our fellow comrade.

Silence or fence sitting at this juncture is by de facto supporting the regime in persecuting young people.

The persecution by prosecution of Makomborero Haruzivishe by Emmerson Mnangagwa’s corrupt dictatorship is a clear declaration of war on all young people.

This is no longer a Makomborero Haruzivishe affair as the regime wants to silence all of us from speaking to issues affecting our lives.

The persecution of Cde Mako is a clear test on our resolve to resist suppression by the regime.

Today is Cde Mako but if we do not collectively resist to this persecution by showing solidarity to one of our own, the regime will pick us one by one like chickens ready for slaughter.

Cde Mako represents our aspirations as young people hence we are duty bound to stand in solidarity with him and the first port of call is attending today’s court in full force in our numbers.

Giving insight on our nervous conditions must never be treated as inciting violence.

The greatest form of violence is denying us a voice which is exactly what this regime is bent on.

They want us to see no evil and hear no evil when they loot the national cake.

We can not nod our heads in agreement when they abduct and torture young people.

We can not be in complicit when at every turn this regime is sending young people to jail pre-trial.

These are Cde Mako’s genuine concerns and the very reasons he is being sentenced today.

Indeed they ring sense to all of us hence it is not Mako on trial but all progressive young people.

Failure to act or silence is betrayal!

Resistance and resilience is a must as we pursue the #People’s Agenda 2021.

Local Authorities Fail To Address Sewer Bursts

By A Correspondent- The Community Water Alliance (CWA) has called on local authorities to address the issue of sewer bursts in order to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases.

In a statement yesterday, CWA spokesperson Chris Gohori said the organisation was receiving several complaints from residents across the country about sewer bursts and the failure by local authorities to attend to them.

Gohori said, in some instances, the sewer bursts went for over two weeks without being attended to, thus exposing residents to diseases.

“After visits to some of the affected households in Harare’s Mabvuku suburb in ward 19, we noted that there were cases of diarrhoea recorded due to the sewer bursts,” CWA said in a statement.

“Some residents said they cannot use toilets and have resorted to open defecation.”

The CWA said many residents were relying on public water points like boreholes and unprotected wells as alternative water sources.

Zanu PF Hijacks Highlanders

By A Correspondent-Zanu PF Bulawayo provincial youth league executive member and Minister of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu has hijacked Highlanders Football Club.

Ndlovu recently bought a Highlanders membership card and said that he was charmed by newly elected club committee member Mgcini Mafu, who visited Plumtree on Saturday to thank members for voting him into office.

According to the state media, Ndlovu was one of seven supporters that were recruited by Mafu and his campaign manager Noah Mpofu in the border town that has a vibrant supporters club chaired by the late former chairman James Mangwana Tshuma’s son Jabulani.

“We are privileged to have such a high ranking government official joining our club. We had fruitful discussions with him. He said he will do everything in his power to assist the club in its programmes and this might even open avenues for corporates to come in and sponsor into yabantu,” said Mafu.

Mnangagwa Ally Pushes For The Criminalisation Of Social Media

By James Gwati-Home Affairs minister, Kazembe Kazembe said the government was moving fast with the enactment of an anti-social media “abuse” law.

Kazembe said this recently in Mazowe where he was addressing officers at the Zimbabwe National Defence University in Mazowe.

“In the Zimbabwe context, social media has also been used as a tool for disturbing the internal security. As you may all be aware, the country has in the recent past witnessed the spreading of fake news as well as attacks on several Government officials via social media,” he said.

Kazembe said there was a need for the regulation of social media through the enactment of laws aimed at giving law enforcement agencies the requisite regulatory framework to monitor social media activities.

“Cognisant of the dangers posed to internal security by social media, the Government of Zimbabwe is in the process of promulgating the Cyber Security and Cyber Crime law. It is our hope that this piece of legislation will go a long way in addressing issues affecting Zimbabwe’s cyberspace and related crimes,” he said.

Two Killed In Bar- Related Disputes

Two people were reportedly killed in bar-related disputes in Gweru exposing bar operators’ violation of COVID-19 regulations that order them to remain closed.

Five people have since been arrested in Midlands province over the alleged two separate murder cases that happened over the Easter holidays.

In the first incident, two men and a woman were arrested on allegations of fatally stabbing 20-year-old Edwin Masango, following a dispute over a woman at Sponono Bar in Gweru.

In another incident, 40-year old Tapiwa Manjonjo from Hukuimwe village in Buhera died after allegedly being assaulted and thrown into a dam over theft of a cellphone at Amapongogwe bar in Shurugwi.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Midlands Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the two incidents. Speaking to ZBC News Mahoko said:

It is noted that the two cases occurred at beer halls in a situation where a national lockdown put in place by the government as a strategy to fight the spread of COVID 19 requires beer halls to remain closed. We call upon all citizens and business operators to be responsible and heed the call by the government. Police cannot be everywhere at all times. We call upon members of the public who witness any illegalities to alert the nearest police station so that action is taken.

Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko identified the suspects of the Sponono bar incident as McDonald Mpanda (31), Innocent Msipa (44) and Tendai Faith (26).

Suspects in the Amapongogwe bar incident include Elvis Mthombeni aged 36 and the 30-year-old Progress Mushaya.- ZBC

We Will Not Change Party Name- Hwende

The Secretary-General of opposition MDC Alliance, Chalton Hwende has said his party will not abandon their name despite warnings by rival MDC-T that they will use MDC Alliance in the upcoming by-elections.

Hwende told NewsDay on Sunday that allowing MDC-T led by Douglas Mwonzora was equal to giving victory to the ruling ZANU PF on a silver platter. He said:

Why allow them to rig? We are fighting to reclaim everything, including the 2018 victory.

Our position is clear that we are the MDC that was founded in 1999 and participated in the last elections as MDC Alliance. That is our name, that is our history and it holds our values as a party.

If we surrender the name, the thief will come again and steal more from us and, therefore, we will have to continue fighting. It is our name, why should we abandon it? Mwonzora is just an accessory to the theft and we are not even worried about him. We want to deal with the real thief.

His statement comes after Mwonzora’s MDC-T last month claimed that it would contest the yet-to-be-announced by-elections as MDC Alliance, a move likely to confuse opposition voters and advantage the ruling Zanu PF party.

Hwende yesterday insisted that Mwonzora’s MDC-T was working in cahoots with Zanu PF to destroy their movement.

He said the Nelson Chamisa-led party would not participate in any by-election if it was forced to abandon its name, but would keep fighting for electoral reforms to ensure a level playing field.

Meanwhile, Alex Tawanda Magaisa, the former Chief of Staff in the office of the late former Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai has advised MDC Alliance not to boycott the by-elections saying that will be to the advantage of the ruling party.- NewsDay

Mnangagwa Plot To Destroy MDC Alliance Exposed

Tinashe Sambiri|Douglas Togarasei Mwonzora is a man who has written his own political epitaph, political observers have said.

The US has said Mwonzora’s party is a beneficiary of court rulings that disenfranchised voters.

In a report on the human rights situation in Zimbabwe, the US dismissed Mwonzora’s “surrogate” political party.

See part of the report below:

The High Court, in a series of decisions beginning in March, paved the way for a minor political party, the MDC-T, to challenge the leadership of the main opposition party, the MDC Alliance, ignoring earlier jurisprudence that ruled that political parties, as private and voluntary associations, should resolve their differences using internal remedies.

This decision disenfranchised voters by allowing the minor political party to recall and replace elected MDC Alliance parliamentarians and local councillors.

In June police and military arrested some and blocked other senior MDC Alliance officials from entering the party’s headquarters when MDC-T party members broke into the building…

According to respected political analyst, Dr Pedzisai Ruhanya, the US report has exposed Zanu PF’s secret plan to use Mwonzora to decimate the MDC Alliance.

See Dr Ruhanya’s argument below:

Togarasei Mwonzora Digs Own Political Grave

Watermelon And Hydration

DEHYDRATION

The Truth About Hydration :Myths and Facts
Find out how much water you really need to drink each day, whether you can overdose on H2O, and more.

Water-packed foods like watermelon can help you hit your hydration goals.

Hydration is one of those things you know you should be on top of, but you may not fully understand why.

“Hydration is important because our bodies really function [best with] adequate water balance,” says Shilpi Agarwal, MD, a board-certified family medicine physician in Washington, DC, and the author of The 10-Day Total Body Transformation. “Most organ functions require water in the right proportion to work — meaning your muscles, heart, and kidneys all need water and also need the body to be adequately hydrated in order to work properly.”

And what about dehydration, to some a scary word that may be associated with health issues big and small? “Mild dehydration can lead to dizziness, fatigue, flushed skin, headache, impaired physical performance, and confusion,” explains Malina Malkani, RDN, who lives in Rye, New York, and is the creator of Solve Picky Eating, a program for parents of finicky eaters. If unaddressed, more extreme dehydration can even cause problems like labored breathing, increased body temperature, poor blood circulation, and seizures, Malkani adds. And according to the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, dehydration can contribute to urinary tract infections and kidney stones.

To clear up confusion around hydration and dehydration, here are 10 things you must know to keep your health in tip-top shape.

  1. Myth: If You’re Thirsty, You’re Already Dehydrated
There is some truth to this widely repeated statement. “This can be a really helpful reminder to people, because many of us aren’t very in tune with our thirst, so once we realize we’re thirsty, our body really is calling out for water,” says Ginger Hultin, RDN, the Seattle-based owner of Champagne Nutrition and the author of Anti-Inflammatory Diet Meal Prep.

But it’s not a one-size-fits-all indicator. “Each person needs to assess if this is actually true for them, because there are a lot of reasons a person can be thirsty. It’s not 100 percent always because of dehydration,” says Hultin.

For example, something as simple as spicy food may make you thirstier than normal, according to the Cleveland Clinic. A sharp increase in thirst may also be a sign of a health problem like diabetes. It could be a side effect of a medication you’re taking; certain drugs cause dry mouth without causing dehydration per se. Regardless, it’s worth talking to your doctor if you’re much thirstier than normal to determine the underlying reason.

  1. Fact: Dark Yellow Urine May Signal That You’re Dehydrated
If you’re concerned you’re not drinking enough water, try this quick trick: Check your urine color. “Urine color can be a pretty good indication of hydration status,” says Hultin.

An eight-level urine color chart lays out urine color from clear to dark yellow or brown — as posted by the U.S. Army Public Health Command. Though everyone is different, explains Hultin, the lightest four colors indicate that you’re hydrated, and the darkest four may mean that you’re dehydrated. If your pee falls in the brown range, you should seek medical attention, as Hultin advises this could mean severe dehydration.

Fake Defections: State Media Lies Exposed

Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance Midlands Province has said fake defections will not disrupt the activities of the popular movement.

In a statement, MDC Alliance Midlands described the so called defections as insignificant:

3 April 2021

We the MDCA Midlands province want to make it categorically clear without any ambiguity that the party led by Adv Nelson Chamisa is safe and sound.

We acknowledge the departure of Blessing Chebundo and Lillian Timveous and wish them well.

We certainly respect their decision to join Zanu pf for whatever spurious reasons, but do not agree with their trajectory of blaming MDCA for the parlous state of the country that must be laid squarely on Zanu pf thuggery, thievery, patronage, cronyism and lackeyism.

Sadly, the two’s theatrics are not yet over. A meeting of 400 Zanu pf people in Kwekwe last week was falsely dramatised as some meeting with MDCA defectors and former MDCA national member, Blessing Chebundo, addressed the meeting with his colleagues in Zanu pf.

On the 1st of April, the herald reported that more than 150 MDCA activists had defected to Zanu pf in Gweru.

We urge MDCA supporters to take this as nothing more than a fools day message.

We are indeed aware of several touts (mahwindi) and artisanal miners who were commandeered to meetings and forced to wear MDCA regalia provided by Zanu pf in return for possible emoluments be it unfettered operations at ranks and in mines, but this narrative of facade of lies has no traction.

Tsvangirai’s legacy of a credible opposition party, democracy, pluralism, good governance, service and self sacrifice, justice, courage, indefatigable resistance in the face of brutal repression, and winning elections through the ballot box continues to water our spirit of liberty under MDCA presidium of Nelson Chamisa, Welshman Ncube, Tendai Biti and Lynette Kore. No amount of ghost MDCA defectors will worry us. The MDCA is here to stay and those who wish us away are in for a rude awakening. Indeed, we are reaching another level of effective rural strategy from Gokwe to Mberengwa and will give our best shot come 2023. As MDCA, we are also pre-occupied with plans for a 2021 People’s Convergence in order to chat an appropriate way forward guided by the generality of people of Zimbabwe.

The Last Words And Wish Of Hon. Alum Mpofu.

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | The late hon. Alum Mpofu made the last everlasting words the last thing before he died. The last thing he did before he died was to propose a bill that it is called the Zimbabwe Patriot Bill, which amongst other things, aims to criminalise and prescribe stiff punishment for citizens who “campaign against” national interests. According to the late hon. Mpofu , the Bill will also criminalise the peddling of “falsehoods” which undermine Zimbabwe’s national interests. The proposed law will permit government to prohibit any private communications between citizens and officials of foreign governments.

Govt has said that the proposed law is necessary to “deal” with citizens who propagate negative information to foreign governments, which undermine the Government of Zimbabwe’s efforts to attract foreign direct investment..

Comrade Alum Mpofu believed that patriotism is love for and loyalty to one’s own country, which is expressed in various ways. In certain circumstances, to be patriotic means that one has to be critical of their own government or even campaign against the government, especially when the government’s policies undermine national interests. In terms of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, democracy, peace and respect for human rights and the rule of law are amongst Zimbabwe’s national interests.
If the government becomes itself a problem patriots must confront it and use the systems available.

On the 2nd March 2021 the honourable Alum Mhofu Mpofu was moved by the love of his country. The last thing he did in parliament was an act of a hero. His death will Resonate with his motion. after the opening preliminaries, the House adopted a motion by the Leader of Government Business and Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Hon Ziyambi Ziyambi, for a substantial departure from the Order Paper.

This effectively superseded urgent Bills and other important Government business, to allow Hon Alum Mpofu, ZANU PF MP for Mberengwa South, seconded by Hon Togarepi [ZANU PF Chief Whip], to present a motion:

Hon Mpofu moved the motion:
“That this House:
COGNISANT that Zimbabwe’s image and national reputation are critical factors in attracting foreign investment;
CONCERNED that the negative portrayal of the country’s image and reputation has an adjverse and crippling impact on the country’s economic prospects especially on tourism, investment, and the welfare of the vulnerable such as youths, women and the disabled;

ENCOURAGED that other jurisdictions, recognising the need to preserve their image and soft power in a competitive global village, have enacted laws that bar their citizens from engaging in unpatriotic activities and communication intended to denigrate the integrity of their homeland;
BUOYED by the fact that the overwhelming majority of Zimbabweans are focused on building the positive image of the country as a reforming, open, peaceful, and democratic country that is attractive to investment;
NOW THEREFORE, call upon this august House to enact a law that:

a)   recognises and celebrates efforts made by Zimbabwean citizens at home and abroad to promote the country’s positive image and brand; and
b)   prohibits any Zimbabwean citizen from wilfully communicating messages intended to harm the image and reputation of the country on international platforms or engaging with foreign countries with the intention of communicating messages intended to harm the country’s positive image and/or to under its integrity and reputation.”

PROMOTION OF THE COUNTRY’S POSITIVE IMAGE AND BRAND”
The ensuing debate on this motion lasted most of the sitting, which only ended at 6.45 pm.  In his lengthy presentation Hon Mpofu emphasised why Zimbabwe needs a good reputation in order to re-engage with the rest of the world,

In concluding Hon Mpofu summoned his delivering learning skills and posed hypothetical but thought provoking questions.

” …what do we do when your members of the team, when they score goals, when Knowledge Musona scores goals and Nakamba scores goals, it behooves all of us to stand up and celebrate.  What should we do when team players or those people who are supposed to be team players stand up and score own goals, what in that circumstance should we do?
I rest my case.”

This was a serious insight and reflection of the love Mpofu had fo his country.
It was the day of the holy people the Mhofus of the parliament. Another Mhofu cde Togarepi seconded the motion and clarified the issues.

” … the imposition of sanctions by the United States, European Union, Canada, Australia et cetera was at the behest of our people.  The imposition of sanctions by these countries was as a result of lobbying by certain individuals. Some deliberately went to these countries to ask for the people of Zimbabwe to be killed by way of denying us access to health, in other words you are saying we should die.  These are citizens of Zimbabwe, what are we doing as a country to ensure that such people pay for exposing the people of Zimbabwe, we need to do something and it should be done now.”
He went on to refer to:

” …civic organisations that in their activities deviate from their core business and start advancing activities that destabilise the people of Zimbabwe … people come to this country, they tell us that they are social welfare organisations yet they have political agendas … if you have campaigned against Zimbabwe, the law should actually bar you from getting into any public office because you will have killed the people that you want to look after.”

……
“If you attack the leader of this country that has an effect when that leader goes out there to source business for this country.  Nobody wants to do business with a person who from his country is called so many names.  So it is very important that the media, politicians, business people and all citizens of this country understand that they are people of Zimbabwe first before their political and business interests.  We are one and it is a law that we can put down today in this House on this land that will defend the interest of Zimbabwe.

The debate went through a vibrant discussion with opposition MPs opposing it as usual.
Nobody ever imagined that on that day when Honourable Alum Mpofu stepped out of the Honourable house that was his last. Nobody ever imagined that the light the honourable Mpofu had ignited in that house will become a raging flame which will give light and warmth to the patriots of the wonderful nation of Zimbabwe.

When cde Mpofu breathed his last he was very sure that the nation will be protected if the Patriotic Bill is to sail through.
This is fast forwarded bill originally revealed by Information minister Monica Mutsvangwa on 4 August, 2020 in her 27th Post Cabinet Press Briefing. At that point, it was reported that the proposed Patriot Bill was recommended to Cabinet by the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC), in its 2018 and 2019 annual reports. It was highlighted that the NPRC had recommended that “campaigning against one’s country” should be legislated at law and “criminalised”.

This understanding is in line with several countries who have their own laws to protect the image of their countries. The rationale is that you must not create a hole in the boat you are a passenger.

The Patriot bill does not seek people to respect the government but not to demonise your country.

Contrary to what the opposition is saying the bill is not to protect the ruling party but it is meant to protect the country. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom to destroy.
Zimbabwe is fragile and it must be handled with care. It is strange that the opposition goes on to mislead people about this bill. As they have.

The bill is not created as a political tool between two opposing political ideologies,it is a nationalistic considerations which are meant to protect the whole nation. In this light, the “Patriot bill is the pride of the nation.
Cde Alum Mpofu passed on but he left us a task a job to do. In any way you can protect your country.

Zimbabwe needs you the question you need to ask yourself is What can I do for my country not what my country can do for me.
You can not celebrate when your neighbour buys your house. It is a foolish man who destroys his house to please the neighbours.
If the opposition has nothing to hide why are they worried about the Patriot bill.
As Alum Mpofu rests with his forefathers he trusted the future of this country in your hands.

This bill was his last and this is you chance to defend your country.

Many heroes died for this country and the best you can do is to protect their legacy. Protect the legacy of your country. Zimbabwe is the only country we can call ours.

Zanu PF Regime Running Scared After Misleading Electorate

Tinashe Sambiri|The cornered Zanu PF regime arrested an MDC Alliance official in Harare on Sunday.

MDC Alliance Youth Secretary for Harare Province, Denford Ngadziore was arrested at a party meeting in Harare West Constituency.

The MDC Alliance Youth Assembly has condemned the recurring persecution of political activists in the country:

04-04-2021

The cornered Emmerson Mnangagwa’s military dictatorship is increasingly running scared and today the police disrupted a People’s Agenda meeting in Harare West Constituency.

Harare West Constituency is represented in Parliament by Hon Joana Mamombe who is currently serving a pre-trial imprisonment together with Cecilia Chimbiri at Chikurubi Maximum Prison for no apparent crime.

Since the senseless conviction of Makomborero Haruzivishe last week, the regime is running paranoid fearing a backlash from angry youths ahead of his impending sentencing on Tuesday.

Today, MDC Alliance Youth Secretary for Harare Province, Denford Ngadziore was picked up by police from the meeting and was briefly detained at Malbereign Police Station where he was handed a warned and cautioned statement before release.

Having grossly failed to meet his employment electoral promise, Emmerson Mnangagwa is running scared of an impending implosion and a popular protest fronted by angry and discontented youths.

As a result, Mnangagwa’s unpopular regime has resorted to harassment, abductions, pre-trial detentions and convictions to silence the ever growing number of politically conscious youths.

This explains the continued detention and conviction of our youth leaders for no crime at all.

We believe that only a people centred government led President Nelson Chamisa is best placed to solve challenges facing young people.

A government that respects aspirations and rights of young people is a must in the year of People’s Agenda, 2021.

Makomborero Haruvizishe Is Not A Criminal

By Tererai Obey Sithole
MDC Alliance Youth Assembly National Chairperson

The Zimbabwean government led by Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa convicted a 29 year old youth leader, they intend to sentence him on Tuesday.

His only crime is to love his country more than the people who claim to be leaders of the country.

He chose bravery over cowardice, he always speaks against bad governance and stands with the downtrodden.

Kindly assist us in sharing the word and telling the government to stop the jailing of people for exercising their rights.

Douglas Mwonzora Writes Own Political Epitaph…

Zanu PF is reportedly forcing touts to masquerade as MDC Alliance defectors.

Read statement below:

03-04-2021

Disturbing reports from Gweru are that the ruining party, ZANU PF used soldiers and police to round up touts in that city and the touts were later on coerced to masquerade as MDC Alliance defectors at a District Coordinating Committee (DCC) gathering.

The arrested touts were later on asked to participate in the defections choreography or face prosecution if they did not participate in the charade.

About 150 known Gweru touts were rounded up at Kudzanai Bus terminus and along Harare road and Bulawayo road mushika-shika sites.

Riding on utopia, ZANU PF’s resident Minister for Midlands, Larry Mavhima later on presided over the defections charade where the touts were ‘unveiled’ as defecting MDC Alliance members joining ZANU PF.

Besides breaking Covid-19 regulations with a crowd of over 50, the set maximum number of people per gathering, nothing was closer to reality at the event except the usual and tired lie that our members are defecting en-mass to ZANU PF.

Faced with a growing discontentment from angry, hungry and restless citizenry, ZANU PF is starring at the barrel of a popular mass protest hence these desperate attempts to misrepresent the People’s Movement, MDC Alliance.

We are well aware of the ruse by government of the declaration of war on touts. A responsible government does not declare war on its citizens but it finds solutions to the unprecedented rate of unemployment for young people.

Only a people’s government under President Nelson Chamisa can wrestle the country out of the current political and economic crisis.

The ever increasing numbers of MDC Alliance members and the magnetic wand of our charismatic leader, Nelson Chamisa is giving Emmerson Mnangagwa and his sinking ZANU PF ship sleepless nights.

It is a public secret that we are a party on the rise and no amount of illusionary masquerades, misrepresentation and repackaging of lies can stop the People’s Agenda towards Citizens Convergence for Change.

We are the alternative!

Dehydration: The Facts

DEHYDRATION

The Truth About Hydration :Myths and Facts
Find out how much water you really need to drink each day, whether you can overdose on H2O, and more.

Mnangagwa Regime Running Scared

Cigarette Contraband Intercepted

By A Correspondent- Security officials have intercepted cigarette contraband worth an estimated R230 000 that was being smuggled into South Africa through an illegal crossing point along the Limpopo River.

It is reported that the owners of the 85 boxes of Remmington Gold brand escaped after realising that they had been cornered by members of the national security task force along a footpath leading to the river.

They left behind the loot which was packed in sacks converted into temporary backpacks.

National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi was not available for comment last night. However, security officials close to the case said they were yet to make any arrests.

“The loot was intercepted by a security team which is part of those implementing an operation code-named; “No to cross border crimes”.

“We have since confiscated the 85 boxes of 50 bricks each of Remmington Gold in a forest near Limpopo River. It is believed that the consignment was destined for South Africa where there is a lucrative market for the commodity,” said a source.

The Herald understands that a box of cigarettes is sold for R2 700 on the local market and an estimated R6 000 on the South African market. Limpopo police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo recently said they were also conducting an operation codenamed “Thatha Zonke” (take everything) along the border and Limpopo province to curb crimes such as illegal migration, smuggling, armed robbery, illegal mining, and drug peddling among others.

The smuggling of cigarettes from Zimbabwe into South Africa through illegal crossing points along the Limpopo River increased at the beginning of April last year prompting security from both countries to intensify anti-smuggling initiatives. It is understood that 30 percent of cigarettes in South Africa are from Zimbabwe including Pacific, Remmington Gold, Mega, Dullahs, Branson, and Servilles. More than 70 people have been arrested leading to the recovery of cigarettes worth millions of rands.

The temporary suspension of trade in tobacco on the formal markets in the neighbouring country as part of the Covid-19 protocols has seen smuggling syndicates pushing the commodity on the black market. Those that illegally transport the commodity across borders are paid between R100 and R300 per box and in most cases, this is done under the cover of darkness.-statemedia

“Report Covid-19 Side Effects”: MCAZ Creates Platform

By A Correspondent- The Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) has created a platform where citizens can share side effects they may have experienced after getting the Covid-19 vaccine.

Zimbabweans will be vaccinated with either the Sinovac, Covaxin or Sinopharm vaccines. Whilst there has been no official reported cases of side effects from the Covid-19 vaccine, Zimbabwe Association of Doctors for Human Rights secretary Norman Matara warned the public that the second Sinopham jab might trigger severe side effects.

Matara however allied any fears and said the side effects will resolve on their own and said:

The side effects are self-limiting and resolve on their own usually within a few days. There is no danger to life anticipated. We advise the public to participate in the national vaccination programme as vaccination of individuals has been proved to be an effective way of eradicating pandemics.

These vaccines go through various stages of clinical trials before approval and are safe and effective. We need to get vaccinated in order for us to return to normalcy.

MCAZ has made available an online pharmacovigilance platform to share any side effects one may have after getting the vaccine.

Those that have experienced side effects after receiving the vaccine can report online http://e-pv.mcaz.co.zw or download the MCAZ app on Android or iOS

Form 1 School Drop-out Designs Quad Motorbike

By A Correspondent- A form 1 school drop out, Nhlanhla Gabula popularly known in his community as Oriyantso has designed a quad motorbike.

The current version of the motorbike is his second attempt after he destroyed the first he designed around 2004 and 2005, under the eyes of his father after failing to raise the requisite financial resources.

Speaking on his latest project, Oriyantso said offers have been made by local farmers for the motorbike but he is adamant he will never sell the prototype.

He said:

Having made a quad bike before which never came to see the day I decided when l started to stay on the premises to deal at once and for all with the wound and put my skills to test.

I managed to raise money to fulfill my dream and this is where l raised all the parts required. In three and a half months l was done and dusted.

This is not the ideal quad bike l desire to design. With all the right equipment l can pull it off in a month without any scracth or untight screw.

My target is when l get all this to create employ and grow as a company that is able to make two quad bikes a month or even more considering the raw equipment.

I will never sell this sample even in my trying times and l want to wake up and see it daily to inspire me to hustle and be able to grow my company and even get it to be formally registered.

Nhlanhla Gabula dropped out of school in 1992 just as he finished his Form One Third Term at Gwanda High School as his father failed to pay his school fees.

Nhlanhla Gabula became a gold miner in Collen Bawn before going to Harare where he tried his luck in rearing Ostriches.

He returned to Gwanda where he became his father Amos Gabula’s right-hand man where they welded in the family’s home at Gwanda’s oldest township Jahunda.

ZAPU Chairperson Petitions President Over Party Secretary Suspension

ZAPU Mashonaland East party provincial chairperson Edward Chodewa has petitioned the party president Isaac Mabuka over the suspension of the party’s secretary for mobilisation and organisation, Derek Katsenga, demanding his immediate reinstatement.

Zapu secretary-general Strike Mkandla suspended Katsenga last week over allegations of misconduct, fanning tribalism and campaigning for some presidential candidates.
But on Thursday Chodewa wrote to Mabuka challenging Katsenga’s suspension.

“As a province we are not entertaining the trumped up charges levelled against our own son Katsenga … As the provincial chairperson, I engaged the structures from my provinces. We are demanding immediate reinstatement of our gallant fighter, and also we demand immediate resignation of Zapu secretary-general Mkandla and Mjobisi Noko,” Chodewa wrote.

“We can’t watch our son being fought for working so hard for Zapu. We do not know the people you are trying to force us to accept since Zapu was revived in Mashonaland East by the comrade you have suspended on fake charges because he refused to accept the nomination of your WhatsApp politicians,” he said.

Mkandla said he was not at liberty to discuss Katsenga’s suspension with the media as the matter was sub judice and a disciplinary process was ongoing.

“When it’s completed we will then openly tell you about it,” Mkandla said.

Zapu is set to go for its elective congress this month.

More Covid-19 Vaccination Sites Established

By A Correspondent- The Government has introduced more Covid-19 vaccination sites across the country as part of efforts to decentralise the process and decongest existing service points.

Wilkins Hospital, which has been the main vaccination point in Harare, was last week overburdened by the increasing number of people coming for their jabs.

As a result, vaccination sites have been increased to 24 as part of efforts to ensure every citizen has access to the vaccines.

The new centres, which started operating on April 2 include Parirenyatwa Hospital, Mbare Polyclinic, Sunningdale Satellite Clinic, Highfield Polyclinic, Southerton Satellite Clinic, Mufakose, Kuwadzana, Warren Park and Kambuzuma polyclinics.

People can also get their vaccines at Mabelreign, Marlborough, Avondale, Belvedere, Mt Pleasant, Hatcliffe, Borrowdale, Highlands, Mabvuku, Greendale and Eastlea clinics as well as Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, among others. The decentralisation of vaccination sites will ensure that citizens get their vaccines at a centre nearest to them.

Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care Dr John Mangwiro said the Government realised that the numbers of people coming to get vaccinated was increasing and this was causing congestion at Wilkins necessitating the establishment of more service points. He said the same would be done at all vaccination centres including in the rural areas where sites situated in clinics would be complimented by others at business centres and growth points.

“What we will do further is to increase the number of outlets so that we reach our target figures quickly. We will have fixed outlets so if there is a clinic, we might have another outlet at shopping centres to make sure that people get their vaccines and we avoid long queues,” he said.

The number of people who have received the vaccine has been rising over the past two weeks to reach 76 995 last Wednesday.  The number of those who have received their second dose has also increased to 14 885.

Vaccination uptake has also increased in other cities with border towns registering a significant increase in numbers.

In Matabeleland South, the uptake of the Covid-19 vaccine has peaked under Phase Two with more people now keen to get immunised. Provincial nursing officer Sister Joyce Dube said they had completed vaccinating 5 000 frontline workers under phase one.

“We are now busy vaccinating people under Phase Two and the response is encouraging. We are equal to the task,” she said.

Sister Dube said so far, they had received doses to cover 18 000 people under the second phase of immunisation. All the necessary logistics had been put in place to accommodate all those seeking immunisation including customs clearing agents in Beitbridge, Plumtree, Mpoengs, Miatengwe and Mlambapele.

Government has so far brought in 1,2 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine purchased from China to boost the donations of 400 000 Sinopharm vaccines received from China and 35 000 Covaxin from the Government of India.

Treasury has already made payment for more vaccines, which are expected to arrive in the country soon. About US$100 million was set aside for the procurement of vaccines targeting 60 percent of the total population as the country fights to achieve herd immunity.

“Zimbabwe Has Nothing To Hide”: Prof Murwira

Zimbabwe is prepared to volunteer and expose itself to peer review for continuous improvement of good governance.

This was said by acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Professor Amon Murwira at the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) summit which was chaired by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. He said Zimbabwe had nothing to hide following its accession to a specialised agency of the African Union (AU) in February 2020.

“Zimbabwe is prepared to volunteer and expose itself to peer review for continuous improvement of good governance.  “This is basically in pursuit of our vision 2030 of becoming an upper middle income economy that is inclusive.

“At the same time, this then meets the vision 2063 of the Africa we want, because Zimbabwe is part of the African building block,” said Minister Murwira.

The peer review mechanism was a self-correcting mechanism for Africa in its wish to become a continent characterised by good governance.

Prof Murwira said Zimbabwe was very pleased to be part of this mechanism, which showed that Zimbabwe was part of the family of nations.

“Zimbabwe is engaging and re-engaging, Zimbabwe has nothing to hide, so it is free to engage with the world and we are improving along these lines and basically this is what the African peer review mechanism is all about.

“Zimbabwe joining this mechanism shows that it is promoting its image as a good citizen of the world, with absolutely no intention to have enemies but to completely develop friendship with the rest of the world starting with Africa,” said Minister Murwira.

President Cyril Ramaphosa said the APRM mission to promote the African Union’s shared values of democratic governance and inclusive development remained a priority.

“The APRM is a firm statement of the resolve of the African countries to strengthen effective governance and inclusive development, also the rule of law, and social and economic development.

“It is an important part of our efforts as individual states and as a continent to tackle instability, conflict, corruption and maladministration,” he said.

President Ramaphosa said the strategic plan for 2020 — 2024 continued to drive towards accession by all AU member states.

“Of the 55 member states, more than two thirds have already acceded to the APRM, this is a wonderful achievement,” he said.

“The most recent accessions are those of Zimbabwe, and Seychelles at our summit last year to bring our community to a total of 40.”

Easter Holidays Claims 9

Nine people have died in road accidents during this year’s Easter holiday compared to five who died in the same period last year.

The rise in the number of deaths this year has been attributed to the free movement of people following the lifting of the Covid-19 restrictions.

“This time around we have a situation where the Government allowed people to travel,” said national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi.

“Of the first two days of the Easter holidays, we have recorded a total 127 road accidents compared to 96 in the same period last year.”

Dear President Mnangagwa “We Need A Free And Fair Election”

Dear President Mnangagwa,

By Kennedy Kaitano- Dialogue that enables the development of processes that will result in undisputed election results is the only dialogue that is essential among stakeholders in the country in order to address the country’s challenges.

The reason why dialogue has failed in Zimbabwe is that you President Mnangagwa, who call yourself a listening President, said you will not have any dialogue with Chamisa if Chamisa brings up his election dispute to the negotiating table because the Constitutional Court declared you President. The Court may have made a verdict, but the evidence remains that the elections were rigged, and that must be addressed to avoid similar things happening in the future.

The opposition cannot be expected to be silent over rigging, even if the courts rule against their claims if they have irrefutable evidence. The opposition is entitled to share the evidence of rigging with anyone who cares to listen, including the international community, especially when a President who did not win a free and fair election gives a condition that he does not accept election rigging to be on the agenda of dialogue. Since you claim to be a listening President, you must live to your claim and listen to the evidence of your agents’ rigging the elections in your favor.

If you do not listen to issues that negatively affect the country, then people, including the international community, will say you are a hypocrite, and will never take the country out of the crisis it finds itself in. You, your colleagues in Zanu PF, and the compromised opposition should never blame sanctions on anyone, but on Government and Zanu PF’s human rights abuses.

People become very suspicious when a supposed President of the opposition praises a National President who the public knows to have rigged an election. This is why those opposition leaders who are attracted by the carrots you give will never be accepted by the people because people are fully aware of the harassment administered to them by your agents.

So despite the fact that the Constitutional Court judge found no evidence of rigging, you should accept that your supporters intimidated people as in the video of William Mutomba which has been shown in many places. You should accept the evidence of people having to be asked to register in Zanu PF registers at the polling stations which is a form of rigging. And most importantly, you should, in addition to publicly rebuking the actions of people like William Mutomba whose video terrorising the electorate went viral and others who committed similar crimes to rig the election in your favor, you must get them arrested for the crimes.

Nothing brings stability to a country more than a free and fair election. We need a free and fair election in Zimbabwe to cleanse the country’s image and bring back confidence. We need a free and fair election to get the people of Zimbabwe to work together.

As long as there is rigging, the people of Zimbabwe will remain bitter, and there will always be instability. These abuses are continuing under your nose, President Mnangagwa, and you have not said a word about it.

Video footage of Zanu PF leaders telling people that they will be evicted or prevented from gold punning if they support the opposition post the 2018 elections continue to circulate. These are the things that should be discussed in the dialogue.

Listening President, please swallow your pride and listen to evidence of election rigging by your agents. That will help find solutions to future elections, and that will move the country forward.

Funeral At Murderer’s Home

By A Correspondent- The family of a murdered Bulawayo man held his burial service at their neighbour’s home in Pumula South suburb yesterday accusing them of fatally beating him.

Blessing Zikhali (30) died on Wednesday after he was allegedly brutally assaulted at the neighbouring house where Khumbulani Sithole also known as Sniper, an umalayitsha (cross-border transporter) brandished a pistol to frighten people from rescuing his victim.
Zikhali’s family held the funeral service at Sithole’s home, three houses away from theirs.

“Police in Bulawayo are investigating a case of murder which occurred on Wednesday in Pumula South. The deceased is Blessing Zikhali (40) from Tsholotsho district who was unemployed. Accused one is Farai Fero aged 40, the second being Fortune Ngwenya aged 30,” said Insp Ncube.

“The now deceased was with his girlfriend at his place of residence when the two came and asked him to go to Ngwenya’s place. When they got there, the two men alleged that Zikhali had stolen clothes from the washing line earlier that day and an argument arose.”

Insp Ncube said the two men assaulted Zikhali with fists and a hose pipe all over the body and he sustained a cut above the left eye.

On March 31 at around 1AM, the two accused persons escorted the now deceased to ZRP Pumula intending to file a report.

“While at the police station, the officers realised that Zikhali was seriously injured and arrested the two men for assault. The police also called an ambulance to take Zikhali to Mpilo Central Hospital where he later died,” he added.

Insp Ncube urged members of the public not to take the law into their hands.
Zikhali’s relatives said they took the funeral service to Sithole’s home to show that the family is responsible for his death.

A Chronicle news crew yesterday attended the service but members of the Sithole family were not home.

Proceedings including body viewing were held at the neighbour’s gate before the family proceeded to Athlone Cemetery Extension for burial.

The Sithole family was not part of the burial and it is said they bought a goat to be slaughtered for mourners, but the Zikhali family would have none of it. The news crew found the goat tied at the locked gate. Zikhali’s aunt Ms Lindiwe Ndlovu said he was killed like a snake and the Sithole family should know that they are to blame.

“The reason we have taken Ble’s funeral wake to Sniper’s home is that Sniper is responsible for his death. He killed him together with his friends whom he bought alcohol so that they could join him in assaulting our son. He accused Ble of stealing his Manchester United T-shirt claiming that the T-shirt was expensive and it cost him R1 200. They claimed that Ble stole the T-shirt because the shoe-print of the person who stole was similar to Ble’s shoeprint,” said Ms Ndlovu.

“They fetched Ble from home at 8AM and started assaulting him until it was 1PM. Even after they assaulted him, he maintained his innocence, so they also came back at about 4PM and they assaulted him in front of his father and neighbours as they watched helplessly as Sniper, a known malayitsha, locked the gate to his home and drew a pistol making it impossible for anyone to render any assistance. Sniper threatened to shoot anyone who would enter his home as they assaulted him.”

She said they used a copper cable to assault him.

“They were assaulting him while tying him to a trailer of a car. They tied his body on the trailer just as Jesus was nailed to the cross. After realising that they had brutally assaulted him they then handed over his body to the police. That is what led to the arrest of Sniper’s accomplices Fortunate Ngwenya and Farai Fero and the two remain detained behind bars. So, a third culprit escaped together with Sniper who we are told crossed the border to South Africa. But fortunately, before his death Ble managed to tell police the people who were assaulting him,” she said.

“The way he was brutalised is the reason why as a family we had resolved that those responsible for his death, should take charge for his burial that is why we have brought Ble’s body to Sniper’s home. We also gather that he goes around bragging that killing is not new to him and he has two more bodies underground that he killed while he was still staying in Emakhandeni. We can’t have such a person as a neighbour. Right now, his family has deserted the home, we wonder how they will return.”

Ms Ndlovu said they would demand compensation for the death.

“We want this to bother him because you can’t just spill blood and not expect repercussions,” she said.

Zikhali’s uncle Mr Lot Zikhali said they want Sithole to be arrested and taking the funeral service to his home was just a form of protest.
“This is befitting to take the funeral to their home because they took our son when he was alive and returned him dead. I don’t think it is possible for us to live together as neighbours again.

People say kuyaxoliswana, this will not bring our son back. Even if we talk about some payments that some people may talk of as an appeasement, it would seem as if we are selling our child. Even if he pays whatever, it would not bring back our son because our child is gone forever.

We only demand that the law takes its course on Sniper. He has put us on life sentence we have to live with as this situation will not heal again. We call on the law to take its course,” said Mr Zikhali.

A neighbour Mrs Lynette Ndlovu said the community was heartbroken following the brutal murder.

She said the incident has left residents confused as to how they will live with the accused’s family.

“That Which Unites Us Is Far Greater Than That Which Divides Us”

All roads lead to the Zimbabwe Embassy in South Africa on 8 April 2021 where and when Matabeles, united behind Matabeleland restoration cause, will march in solidarity with #MRP9  and handover a memorandum of demand to the Ambassador of Zimbabwe.

As MLO we demand that:
1) the government of Zimbabwe release #MRP9 with immediate effect and leave MRP President Cde Mqondisi Moyo alone

2) the government of Zimbabwe drops trumped up treason charges against MLO President, Cde Paul Siwela, withdraw the pending warrant of arrest, stop raiding his home and harassing his family, stop its assassins from hunting down Cde Paul Siwela with the intention of killing him.

3) the restoration of Matabeleland state as at 3 November  1893

4) payment of US$100 billion as compensation for Matabeleland genocide in which over 40 000 innocent and unarmed Matabele civilians where murdered

Advocating for the restoration
of Matabeleland statehood is not a crime and it will never be.

We implore all Matabele individuals, NGOs and political organizations based in SA to get rid of organisational lines, come together  and throng the Zimbabwe Embassy on the said date.

An injury to one Matabele is an injury to all Matabele people. Today it is #MRP9 arrested,   MRP  President Cde Mqondisi Moyo and MLO President, Cde Paul Siwela on the hit list of the Zimbabwe government, tomorrow it could be you.

The Shona supremacist government of Zimbabwe is not selective in distributing its evil Grand Plan in Matabeleland. Matabeleland genocide and tribal Marginalisation suffered by all Matabeles stands as concrete evidence that no Matabele is safe in Zimbabwe.

Even the so called “most loyal and obedient Matabele sons and daughters of Zimbabwe”  who uphold the Zimbabwe constitution more than Shona supremacists themselves, are not safe.

Did Thokozani Khupe not work with them in the MDC T political project as Deputy President? Remember what happened after Tsvangirai’s death? Yes Shona masses refused
to be lead by a Matabele woman. They attempted to burn her inside a thatched hut and chased her out of Mashonaland calling her a dissident. If it was not for the rain that fell and extinguished the fire, there would be no Thokozani Khupe to talk about.

Did Kembo Mohadi not work with them at Zanupf? This one is still fresh in the minds of all Matabeles because it happened a few months ago and Mohadi is still licking wounds. He was fired in the most humiliating manner which according to the Shona supremacists, is the best way of treating Matabeles who they view as snakes and cockroaches. He must consider himself lucky to be still alive.  Kuyeza nakuwe!

Let all Matabeles swarm the Zimbabwe Embassy in Pretoria. According to the organisers all Mthwakazi regalia and anything that identifies one as Matabele is acceptable.

We hear that the angry youth of Matabeleland have requested Matabeles to bring Zimbabwe flags in their numbers so that they get rid of them in the most befitting manner.

“That which unites us is far greater than that which divides us”. Come one come all!

“Imposing Sanctions On Zanu Pf Is No Solution”- Rubbish. Punishment Is One Of Tripod Tenet On Which Rule Of Law Stand

By Wilbert Mukori- “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!” Is rightly considered the “Golden Rule” because it is the fountain of all just, fair and peaceful human relations; the fountain on which human civilization is build.

Like all rules, the Golden Rule is there to protect the just against the unjust and the weak against the strong, the fair against the unfair and the peace loving against those who would disrupt the peace for whatever reasons. There are unjust and selfish individuals out there who, if left to do as their please, will spoil everything for us all.

It is therefore imperative that those who break the Golden Rule must be punished. The punishment must serve two purposes; to reprimand the wrongdoer and thus making it clear their behaviour will not be tolerated. The punishment must assure the victims and society at large that the lawlessness will not happen again and, if practical, compensate the victim(s) of their lose.

The Golden Rule is common sense really. Sadly, many societies, nations, etc. have descended into chaos and lawlessness with some of them stuck there for generations because they have failed to apply common sense. It is not so much that these societies have failed to grasp the essence of “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!” They grasped all that! They have fallen flat on the faces on policing and enforcing the Golden Rule.

So, the Golden Rule alone is not enough to guarantee justice, peace, liberty, progress and prosperity for all. The Golden Rule must be policed and enforced without fear or favour. That too is common sense!

There is no denying Zimbabwe is a Banana Republic, a failed state, a pariah state, ruled by corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs who have been rigging elections to extend their tyrannical rule. The Golden Rule has been corrupted the wicked rule the roost. There is no justice, no peace and no progress.

The few ruling elite have become filthy rich at the expense of the majority who have been denied their freedoms, human rights and dignity. 41 years of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption

And rank lawlessness have all but destroyed the country’s once robust and promising economy. 50% of our people are now living in abject poverty and basic services like education and health care have collapsed after decades of being starved of funds.

Zimbabwe is standing on the edge of the precipitous abyss; the decades of corrupt and tyrannical rule have brought us here. There is only so much human beings can endure before they rebel and all hell breaks lose. Rebellion transforms rational humans into a lawless mob hell bend on death and destruction. Zimbabweans have been pushed well beyond the limit of endurance. We must act quickly to restore the rule of law and walk away from the edge of the abyss.

“The findings of the United states on human rights abuses in Zimbabwe are correct and everyone wants a situation where we don’t continue on that path,” acknowledged Lovemore Madhuku, National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) leader and a member of Mnangagwa’s POLAD.

Madhuku was commenting on the recent USA report castigating the Zanu PF regime for its repeated human rights violations. The Americans have made it clear they will not lift the economic sanctions impose of the regime until there are democratic reforms and good governance in Zimbabwe.

“The re-engagement efforts must not be affected by the human rights issues,” argued Madhuku, according to The Standard.

“There must continue to be reengagement, but the fact that there are human rights abuses must not justify the continuation of sanctions.

“Their approach to punish by imposing sanctions is not the way. You keep pointing them out and ensuring that Zimbabweans themselves are alert.

“For example, let us convince those that continue to vote for Zanu PF not to do so and let us continue to have reforms and push for electoral reforms and political reforms so that the next elections will be better and ultimately the solution to end all this is to change the government in the future.”

Madhuku’s arguments must be dismissed with the contempt they rightly deserve for two reasons:

  1. Madhuku does not deny that Zanu PF is a repeat abuser of human rights notable denying the ordinary Zimbabweans the right to a meaningful vote and good governance. For 41 years and counting Zanu PF has blatantly rigged elections and has, to this day, stubbornly refused to implement any democratic reforms. To argue that the regime should not be punished for its contemptuous disregard of the rule of law and the heart-breaking human suffering and deaths the decades of corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF rule have brought is foolish.

It is the more contemptuous considering Madhuku is a Law Professor! One shudders to think what he is teaching his students if he is against punishment, one of the trio tenets without which rule of law cannot stand.

  • “Let us continue to have reforms and push for electoral reforms and political reforms!” This is laughable if this was not such a life and death matter! The MDC leaders had five years to table reform proposals during the 2008 to 2013 GNU; they did not have to “push” Zanu PF then. They failed to table even one token reform in five years.

And ever since the GNU debacle, the MDC and the rest in the opposition camp, including Madhuku, have all participated in the flawed and illegal elections for the sake of few gravy train seats, a cut of the Political Party Finance Act budget allocation and, for presidential candidates, a seat on POLAD.

By participating in the flawed elections the opposition have given credibility to the process and legitimacy to the results. As long as Zanu PF is assured of the opposition’s participation and legitimacy the party will never ever implement any reforms. The opposition is not doing anything to end Zanu PF’s corrupt and tyrannical rule; they doing the exact opposite, they are perpetuating Zanu PF’s tyrannical rule.

Instead of lifting the sanctions imposed on Zanu PF leaders, the Americans and their Western allies must increase the sanctions and make them bite. Indeed, there is good reason to extent the sanctions to include the opposition leaders who have taken it upon themselves to frustrate efforts to pressure Zanu PF to implement reforms.

The worst this to happen to Zimbabwe today would be for all those in a position to punish Zanu PF thugs, for their contemptuous disregard of the Golden Rule, to let the rogues go scot-free!

Easter Death Toll Stands At 9 From 127 Road Accidents

Nine people have died in road accidents during this year’s Easter holiday compared to five who died in the same period last year.

The rise in the number of deaths this year has been attributed to the free movement of people following the lifting of the Covid-19 restrictions.

“This time around we have a situation where the Government allowed people to travel,” said national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi.

“Of the first two days of the Easter holidays, we have recorded a total 127 road accidents compared to 96 in the same period last year.”

Gwanda To Commercialise Amacimbi Harvesting

GWANDA Rural District Council (RDC) is awaiting approval of draft by-laws aimed at commercialising the harvesting of mopane worms (amacimbi/madora) in the area, which would help generate revenue for the local authority.

Mopane worms are part of the common Zimbabwean diet and a highly sought-after product mainly in Europe. Last year ZimTrade, conducted an assessment of mopane worms’ export potential and advised that the product was one of the low-hanging fruits Zimbabwe could easily exploit without much investment.

Gwanda RDC says it has since drafted by-laws that will introduce licences to individuals intending to harvest amacimbi under areas of its jurisdiction as a way of monetising the resource.

The local authority’s natural resources officer, Mr Sijabuliso Masango, said they were hopeful that the by-laws will be approved by the central Government.

“As the local authority we drafted by-laws for the harvesting of amacimbi and we are awaiting approval from the high office,” he said.

“Taking note that the harvesting is already underway and a bumper one is expected for that matter, we are eager to have the by-laws approved.”

Mr Masango said this will ensure the council collects revenue from harvesters who would have to pay for permits at about US$20 per year.

“This will go a long way in boosting our revenue and also it will help in our service delivery,” said Mr Masango.

Business Chronicle over the weekend visited areas under the local authority’s jurisdiction and observed harvesters busy at work with some picking the live insects on pathways while some were creeping on roadsides.

Mopane worms feed on mopane trees. Villagers who spoke to this news crew said the harvest was yet to commence fully.

“The size of mopane worms we have now is small but we are harvesting bigger ones and we expect that in a week or so all will be in good shape.

“Mopane worms are our source of livelihood and we hope to catch as many as we can,” said Mr Bhekimpilo Masuku from Timber Farm.

A Garanyemba villager Ms Retsepile Ncube said: “We hope the council by-laws come into effect quickly because at times people from outside the district come in large numbers to harvest and we are left with nothing here”.

Two Nabbed For Murdering A Neighbour For Allegedly Stealing Clothes From A Washing Line

By James Gwati-Two men from Bulawayo’s Pumula South suburb have been arrested for killing their neighbour whom they had accused of stealing their clothes from a washing line.

Bulawayo provincial spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube told the state media that they have arrested Farai Fero(40) and Fortune Ngwenya(30) on allegations of murdering their neighbour Blessing Zikhali (30).
He said the two allegedly fatally assaulted Zikhali whom they accused of stealing clothes belonging to Sithole from their washing line. After allegedly beating Zikhali, the two men escorted him to ZRP Pumula station where police called an ambulance to take him to the hospital.

“The now deceased was with his girlfriend at his place of residence when the two came and asked him to go to Ngwenya’s place. When they got there, the two men alleged that Zikhali had stolen clothes from the washing line earlier that day and an argument arose.”

Olinda, Tytan Marriage On The Rocks Again

By A Correspondent| There is, once again, trouble in paradise as the recently ignited marriage between Olinda Chapel and Tytan seems to be collapsing with the latter showing suicidal tendencies if his social media status is anything to go by.

The two shared suggestive social media posts that revealed the two may be going through a rough patch. Despite all the birthday gifts and sweet messages the two shared, there could be more underlying shortcomings in the not-so-perfect relationship.

Notwithstanding, Tytan made our guess even more apparent when he shared some pretty questionable statuses which evidently got many of his followers a bit uneasy.

Tytan said,

“I need a break from reliving trauma”

“No one cares if I’m alive”

“I’m such a burden-my loved ones would be better off without me”

“I want to stop suffering

“What’s the point of continuing?”

“I need a break from living”

All these are clear signs of someone going through depression. Back in 2019 when the two separated, Tytan hinted at the abuse he was suffering at the hands of her wife, who is evidently the breadwinner in the affair.

Posting on social media he said: “Our relationship has sadly ended due to a catalogue of events that took place in July 2019.

“I will be able to fully talk about the details of the reason why our relationship ended after the completion of police investigations and various legal proceedings.

“I am receiving support from a legal team and domestic abuse services. I would kindly ask my family, friends and the public to bear with me as l go through a very challenging and trying.

“Suicidal thoughts are not just I want to die, they are also…”

Duo Kill Neighbour For Stealing Clothes From Washing Line

By A COrrespondent- Two Bulawayo men from Pumula South suburb were arrested Wednesday for fatally assaulting their neighbour whom they accused of stealing clothes from the washing line.

The deceased, Blessing Zikhali, was later admitted to Mpilo Central Hospital where he died due to serious injuries from beatings by Farai Fero and Fortune Ngwenya.

It is reported that after beating Zikhali, the two men escorted the now deceased to ZRP Pumula station where the police called an ambulance to take him to the hospital.

Bulawayo provincial spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and urged members of the public not to take the law into their own hands.

Ncube said:

Police in Bulawayo are investigating a case of murder which occurred on Wednesday in Pumula South. The deceased is Blessing Zikhali (40) from Tsholotsho district who was unemployed. Accused one is Farai Fero aged 40, the second being Fortune Ngwenya aged 30.

The now deceased was with his girlfriend at his place of residence when the two came and asked him to go to Ngwenya’s place. When they got there, the two men alleged that Zikhali had stolen clothes from the washing line earlier that day and an argument arose.

Inspector Ncube added that the two men assaulted their neighbour with fists and a hosepipe all over the body and he sustained a cut above the left eye.

After they escorted the man to ZRP Pumula intending to file a report, that is when the officers realized that Zikhali was seriously injured and arrested the two men for assault.

The police also called an ambulance to take Zikhali to Mpilo Central Hospital where he later died.-statemedia

Family Holds Funeral At The Murderer’s House

By James Gwati-In a shocking development the family of a murdered Bulawayo man has held his burial service at their neighbour’s home in Pumula South suburb whom they are accusing of murdering the deceased.

Bulawayo provincial spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said two people — Farai Fero and Fortune Ngwenya — have been arrested over the murder. They allegedly fatally assaulted Zikhali whom they accused of stealing clothes belonging to Sithole from their washing line. After allegedly beating Zikhali, the two men escorted him to ZRP Pumula station where police called an ambulance to take him to the hospital.

Silence On Redeployment Of Matemadanda As Party Bigwigs Dissociate themselves From Allegations Of Working With Him

Zanu-PF has remained mum on the redeployment of national political commissar Victor Matemadanda amid reports of tension in the Midlands province, with several senior officials trying to dissociate themselves from allegations that they worked with him to fan factionalism within the party.

Matemadanda was redeployed recently and reports suggest that he will be appointed Zimbabwe’s envoy to Mozambique.

But some party insiders alleged that he lost the party commissariat post because he was being punished for allegedly fanning factionalism.

The former Defence deputy minister was reportedly working with some senior party members from the Midlands province, including the provincial chairperson Daniel Mackenzie Ncube, provincial youth league chairman Edmore Samambwa, and Provincial Affairs minister Larry Mavima, among others known as “Gokwe Boys”, to destroy the political careers of Local Government minister July Moyo and his State Security counterpart Owen Ncube and ensure that they do not get close to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

“They considered themselves as super Lacoste, more important than others. They were cooking up stories to create a divide between the two and Mnangagwa,” sources said last week.

Last week, Matemadanda said he was yet to receive any communication on his redeployment, adding that he was still the Zanu-PF national commissar.

He refused to comment on the matter yesterday, saying he was in church.

Zanu-PF national spokesperson Simon Khaya-Moyo referred all questions to Deputy Chief Secretary in the President’s Office George Charamba.

“On that one, please ask Charamba,” Moyo said curtly.

Charamba last week confirmed to NewsDay that Matemadanda would be redeployed outside the country.

He described his removal from the commissariat position as a promotion rather than demotion.

It has since emerged that several party bigwigs have been taking every opportunity to cleanse their names with Mnangagwa, Ncube and Moyo over their alleged dealings with Matemadanda.

Others reportedly told Mnangagwa that they only worked closely with Matemadanda to mobilise for the party.

In a statement yesterday, Mavima said he only worked with Matemadanda in his capacity as national political commissar and not to pursue any political agenda.

“Midlands is not divided and there are no factions that I am aware of, and I particularly do not belong to any of the alleged factions. I only supported the now former national political commissar Cde Matemadanda to the extent of him carrying out his duties as the commissar of the party and I, as the Minister of State for Midlands Province, and as a member of the (Zanu-PF) central committee from the Midlands province,” Mavima said.

“Inasfar as allegations that I am working to remove Cde July Moyo and Cde Owen Mudha Ncube, that is as preposterous as one can get. Cde July Moyo is my mentor and senior who has helped me to achieve the political levels and successes I have so far. I see no reason to fight him and neither do I have any ambitions to succeed him as I am not the appointing authority.

“As for Cde Mudha (Owen Ncube), I consider him to be a young brother who has done well for himself politically and is actually junior to me as I am in the central committee and he is still in the province,” Mavima’s statement read.

OPINION: Who Were The Targeted Criminals Surrounding The Late Mugabe?

By Leonard Koni| I have been going through and checking on those detained at Chikurubi Maximum Prison but I failed to locate one criminal who was surrounding the late President.
This is the million dollar question being asked by many Zimbabweans who are seeking infornation on what really transpired when they were caught in a frenzy of removing the former President.

It’s true people wanted the dictator Mugabe to go because he caused untold suffering of many Zimbabweans, stayed for too long, presided over a ruthless government and failed to manage the succession matrix.

Were these targeted criminals in the likes of Makomborero Haruzivishe, Cecilia Chimbiri and Joana Mamombe whom we see languishing in prison today or what?

In November 2017 we saw the late Subusiso Moyo clad in army regalia announcing on the national television that Mugabe was safe and that they were only targeting criminals surrounding him.

It is sad that the only person who was going to answer this  question is now late and was just a coup announcer but we still have the chief strategists with us.

Were these criminals the G40 crew like Jonathan Moyo, Walter Mzembi, Saviour Kasukuwere, Robert Zhuwao et al. I understand these lads were not even armed with a bow and an arrow but surprisingly tanks were rolled into the streets just for a few unarmed individuals.

It has become clear that there were two criminals in the house and the other criminals were outside waiting to storm and pounce on their prey and do the same act.

There were thieves catching other thieves and spared each other as they continue looting the country’s resources broadly now disguised as lawfully rulers.

We celebrated the unceremonial departure of Mugabe who did not allow the soldiers to shoot at 45° angle.

He maintained his stance that soldiers remained confined themselves at their respective barracks and we sanitised the arrival of Emmerson Mnangagwa’s adminstration which is now decimating the opposition. The people were used to fight factional battles within Zanu PF.

Today the country is now worst than what it was before the coup. If the coup really achieved its mission by now I think Zimbabwe would be starting enjoying reaping the fruits.

This is the greatest trick ever played on innocent and poor Zimbabweans. Lest we forget.

Mwonzora A Danger To Democracy-US

By James Gwati-The United States said MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora was a danger to the country’s democracy if one is to trace how he became the president of his “minor” political grouping.

This was revealed in a new report on the human rights situation in Zimbabwe, in which the US said Mwonzora’s “minor” political party was the beneficiary of court rulings that disfranchised voters.

“The High Court, in a series of decisions beginning in March, paved the way for a minor political party, the MDC-T, to challenge the leadership of the main opposition party, the MDC Alliance, ignoring earlier jurisprudence that ruled that political parties, as private and voluntary associations, should resolve their differences using internal remedies,” the US report read in part.

“This decision disenfranchised voters by allowing the minor political party to recall and replace elected MDC Alliance parliamentarians and local councillors.

“In June police and military arrested some and blocked other senior MDC Alliance officials from entering the party’s headquarters when MDC-T party members broke into the building.”

The damning report was a blistering attack on Mnangagwa’s human rights record with accusations that state security agents were being used to target government critics for abductions and torture.

Mwonzora says he wants to introduce a new kind of politics in Zimbabwe, which promotes dialogue and has been gravitating towards a working relationship with Mnangagwa’s government.

Embarrassed Mwonzora Shuns Media

By James Gwati- The embarrassed MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora has refused to answer questions from the media about his meeting with the west where he was told that he was an Emmerson Mnangagwa appendage.

Mwonzora was last week embarrassed by the west and was told that he was not a legit opposition leader.

Mwonzora’s spokesperson Lloyd Damba, refused to comment about the allegations that the envoys queried the MDC – T’s claim to be the official opposition party.

Damba referred all questions to the EU.

“We issued a statement on our meeting with the EU,” he said.

“If you have any doubts on what transpired, did you make an effort to reach out to the EU?”

Zimbabwe’s Future Is In Chamisa Not Mwonzora-EU And US

By James Gwati-The European Union and the United States said political dialogue in Zimbabwe should include Nelson Chamisa’s MDC-Alliance which is the country’s main opposition.

The two western allies said this in a virtual meeting which was held last week where they rejected to endorse Douglas Mwonzora’s “minor” MDC-T political grouping as Harare’s main opposition party.
The western bloc and her US ally last week told Mwonzora that he was not a genuine opposition leader after the lawyer, had approached them with a begging bowl.

Mwonzora was told in no uncertain terms that his claim to be the main opposition leader in Zimbabwe was dubious during a March 31 virtual meeting with EU heads of mission, multiple sources that followed the proceedings.

“The envoys told Mwonzora that they had challenges recognising him as the face of the opposition because he did not participate in the 2018 elections as a presidential candidate,” said the official, who requested to remain anonymous.

“The two parties, however, agreed that broad-based dialogue should include Chamisa.

Countdown To Mnangagwa’s End| NEWS REVIEW

Mnangagwa’s Cold Storage Investment That Never Came Through

An investment announced by the Mnangagwa administration 2 years ago that it would create 600 jobs, has flopped dismally.

Editors of the defunct Cold Storage Company (CSC) are concerned about whether the joint venture agreement between the Government and a United Kingdom investor, Boustead Beef still exists or has fallen through.

This emerged during the company’s first creditors’ meeting under interim corporate rescue held in Bulawayo last Wednesday after Boustead Beef, through their representative Mr Nick Havercroft, represented his organisation as a creditor.

In January 2019, the Government through the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement entered into  25-year joint venture agreement with Boustead Beef.

However, during last week’s meeting where the former CSC interim corporate rescue practitioner, Mr Ngoni Kudenga of BDO Zimbabwe Chartered Accountants presented his report, before his rejection by creditors, Boustead Beef presented themselves as a creditor whom CSC owed ZWL$3,2 billion.

The debt was provisionally accepted during the creditors’ meeting that was presided over by the Master of High Court, Mrs Rose Dube.

“Now that you (Mr Kudenga) are taking control of management and Boustead Beef’s position in that joint venture agreement that takes over operations at CSC, has that agreement been altered or qualifying Boustead Beef not as an investor because there is nothing relating to the investor that has been mentioned in that report,” said CSC former workers representative, Mr Ishmael Muzuru.

Mr Kudenga who was appointed CSC interim corporate rescue practitioner by Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement Minister, Dr Anxious Masuka last year, was rejected by the creditors following a High Court challenge by CSC former workers who were represented by Mr Dumisani Dube of Mathonsi Ncube Law Chambers.

During the meeting, the creditors voted in favour of Mr Vonani Majoko of Majoko and Majoko Legal Practitioners as the new interim corporate rescue practitioner.

The ex-CSC employees argued that because of his close relationship with Minister Masuka and previous relationship with CSC, Mr Kudenga’s appointment presented a conflict of interest and thus someone “independent and credible” should take over.

Minister Masuka placed CSC under reconstruction last year and Mr Kudenga was mandated with the overall responsibility of avoiding liquidation of the parastatal while ensuring it remains in a solvent state for the benefit of the company’s stakeholders, creditors including the company’s workers.

Another creditors’ representative said: “Your interim report to us, it looks like it’s denying the existence of a legal document (joint venture agreement), the shareholder (Government) is saying that the joint venture agreement has not been invalidated, but in your report, there is no mention of how you are working with this investor (Boustead Beef) to resuscitate CSC.”

Given the above context, the creditors said this implies that the two entities were independent of each other despite committing themselves into an agreement to resuscitate operations at CSC.

Among others, CSC creditors included urban councils such as Bulawayo City Council, Chinhoyi Municipality and Gweru City Council as well as the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution, and the National Social Security Authority.

The creditors said Mr Kudenga seemed to have general knowledge of the assets CSC has and did not know how much Boustead Beef has invested into the parastatal.

A legal officer from the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement, Ms Chenayi Garise, said as far as they understand the CSC-Boustead Beef agreement was still in place.

“As far as we understand, the joint venture agreement is still in existence and binding. Boustead Beef has not come to us to say the deal is no longer in existence,” she said.

The joint venture agreement is a US$400 million deal between CSC and Boustead Beef. Under the arrangement, the investor is required to inject a minimum of US$130 million over five years for the revival of operations at CSC.

During the proceedings and before the voting was done to elect a new interim corporate rescue practitioner, the Master of High Court requested Mr Kudenga to investigate why Boustead Beef presented themselves as a creditor, that information he was supposed to present at the next meeting had the creditors ratified him as the corporate rescue practitioner.

Under the joint venture agreement, Mr Kudenga said, CSC assets still belonged to the parastatal.

“The information is there and the assurance is that the assets still belong to CSC,” he said, during the meeting.

Mr Kudenga told the creditors that during the short time they have worked together with Boustead Beef, they had “problems” which needed to be looked at.

“Within the short time that we tried to work together, we had problems and it’s an issue that still has to be looked at.

“If you look at some of the terms that have been given to us, the issue of Boustead Beef agreement . . . ,we are supposed to look at the agreement and also verify the investment that was put by Boustead Beef,” he said.

“And at the end of the day, also look at the recommendations whether to continue or to modify the way we are going to work together…so, we still have to look at the agreement with Boustead Beef.”

In an interview after the creditors’ meeting, Mr Muzuru expressed gratitude over the latest development saying it was their hope that the new interim corporate rescue practitioner moves with speed to ensure they are paid their dues which are long overdue.

“We are happy because we wanted someone who is independent and credible. It’s us who have instructed Mathonsi Ncube law firm to actually challenge this because of the interest harboured by the one who was going to be appointed as the corporate rescue practitioner.

“We are expecting that he (Mr Majoko) comes in very soon and assist because the workers have suffered for a long time,” he said. -Chronicle/Additional reporting

Minister Says We Have Nothing To Hide

Amon Murwira

Zimbabwe is prepared to volunteer and expose itself to peer review for continuous improvement of good governance.

This was said by acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Professor Amon Murwira at the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) summit which was chaired by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. He said Zimbabwe had nothing to hide following its accession to a specialised agency of the African Union (AU) in February 2020.

“Zimbabwe is prepared to volunteer and expose itself to peer review for continuous improvement of good governance.

“This is basically in pursuit of our vision 2030 of becoming an upper middle income economy that is inclusive.n

“The most recent accessions are those of Zimbabwe, and Seychelles at our summit last year to bring our community to a total of 40.” -Herald

Chamisa Has Done Everything To Pour Jecha In Our Economy – Mavaza

Dr Masimba Mavaza

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Do economic sanctions destabilize the governments they target or are they meant to help the people of the targeted nations? Is there any shame left in those who impose sanctions on countries which are less fortunate? A form of foreign pressure, sanctions are typically meant to alter the policies of other countries. There is much pessimism on whether they ever work. This economic pressure works in at least one respect: it destabilizes the leaders it targets. sanctions should be balanced by a careful consideration of the policy’s real and sizeable costs for those caught in the middle.

Economic sanctions are a favourite approach of governments seeking to force change abroad without direct confrontation.
Economic sanctions are increasingly being used to promote the full range of American foreign policy objectives. Yet all too often sanctions turn out to be little more than expressions of U.S. preferences that hurt American economic interests without changing the target’s behavior for the better. As a rule, sanctions need to be less unilateral and more focused on the problem at hand. Congress and the executive branch need to institute far more rigorous oversight of sanctions, both prior to adopting them and regularly thereafter, to ensure that the expected benefits outweigh likely costs and that sanctions accomplish more than alternative foreign policy tools.

After 37 years in power, President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe resigned and His successor and former vice president, Emmerson Mnangagwa, promised a break from Mugabe’s authoritarian rule and economic mismanagement, declaring a “new Zimbabwe” that is “open for business.” As per his promise cde Emerson Mnangagwa delivered on his promises.

Zimbabwe’s political and economic reform were changed beyond expectations. The country’s trajectory over the short period Mnangagwa came into power changed in a very encouraging way for the international community to help support Zimbabwe’s recovery. The West had embraced Mnangagwa and all impediments which attracted sanctions was removed in a short time. Mnangagwa has done what he could do and there is nothing more he must do I order to have the sanctions removed.

In short, although Mnangagwa has deployed flowery reform policies.. Mnangagwa’s administration’s actions magnified any movement towards genuine political or economic reform. Repression has become a thing of the past and the economy continues to expand despite the circumstances. With the old guard and military still firmly in power Mnangagwa showed.skills of transforming — and dislodging perches atop the highly cartelised and patronage-system which Was set by the former regime. Despite all noises being made by the opposition genuine reform is in motion, in the next one to three years under present conditions in Zimbabwe Mnangagwa will have succeeded
Politics and economics are inextricably linked in Zimbabwe, and the country is pushing to recover while the two sectors are being addressed in tandem. To help the country recover from years of mismanagement, corruption, and state violence, Mnangagwa has managed to implement genuine political, economic, and security reforms.

While we must remember that sanction is a penalty levied on another country, or on individual citizens of another country. It is an instrument of foreign policy and economic pressure that can be described as a sort of carrot-and-stick approach to dealing with international trade and politics.

Bearing that in mind Mnangagwa has worked flat out to introduce a system which is workable.

As per his focus to lift Zimbabwe to a middle cLass nation Mnangagwa took a leading role to fight corruption and make Zimbabwe breath again.

The sanctions which are intended
to hit a nation’s pocket, they are commonly threatened but just as frequently criticised as ineffective.
Sanctions are categorized in several ways. One way to describe them is by the number of parties issuing the sanction. A “unilateral” sanction means that a single country is enacting the sanction, while a “multilateral” sanction means that a group or block of countries is supporting its use. Since multilateral sanctions are enacted by groups of countries, they can be considered less risky because no one country is on the line for the sanction’s result.

Another way of categorizing sanctions is by the types of trade they limit. Export sanctions block goods flowing into a country, while import sanctions block goods leaving the country. The two options are not equal and will result in different economic ramifications. Blocking goods and services from entering a country (an export sanction) generally has a lighter impact than blocking goods or services from that country (an import sanction). Export sanctions can create an incentive to substitute blocked goods for something else.

In the face of these unrelenting and if air sanctions Mnangagwa has managed to show that Genuine reform is likely under present economic and political conditions in Zimbabwe in the lead-up to national elections in 2023.

Zimbabwe is likely to continue on a path of political freedom protests without, political violence. All the pledges have been fulfilled.
Although the Mnangagwa government has taken some steps that are seen as an indication of progress — particularly on the economic front — there is a wide gap between the government’s effort and the reality on the ground. This because the sanctions have not been removed and it is making it tough to progress in these scenarios.

The Mnangagwa government continues to allow descending voices, Mnangagwa has allowed free political protests, and the media remain freed. Serious tangible steps have been taken toward reconfiguring Zimbabwe’s autocratic system.
Security forces have acted professionally during several protests since Mnangagwa came to power.
Although the military has always played a prominent role in Zimbabwe’s political economy, its influence has increased under Mnangagwa.

Economically Zimbabwe government enjoyed surplus and the introduction of a new currency aimed at curbing inflation, the economy has put its head above the mucky waters.

Zimbabwe suffered from fuel, food, and electricity shortages reminiscent of Zimbabwe’s political and economic crisis in the mid- to late 2000s, but now it has shaken the problems off. Thanks to Mudhara ED.

Despite all this work we have leant that sanctions will not be removed. Politics and economics are inseparable in Zimbabwe, and the country will be unable to recover unless the two sectors are addressed in a coordinated fashion.

Genuine reforms would go a long way toward putting Zimbabwe on a democratic path, lessening high levels of political polarization, and repairing the collapsing economy.
Reforms which also reassure potential investors and help to earn back the goodwill — and possible access to lending — of the international community.

While the goals of sanctions are to force a country to alter its behavior, there is much variation as to how the sanctions are leveled and whom they target. Zimbabwean sanctions are actually a victimisation process.

The widespread use of economic sanctions constitutes one of the worst abuse of human rights in itself. Sanctions against Zimbabwe must be frequently criticized, even derided. At the same time, economic sanctions are fast becoming the policy tool of choice for the United States in the post-cold war world. What is critical, moreover, is not just the frequency with which economic sanctions are used but their growing importance for U.S. foreign policy so clearly this is not for our nation.

Sanctions are blunt instruments that often produce unintended and undesirable consequences. Sanctions increased the economic distress on Zimbabwe triggering a dangerous and expensive exodus of people to the RSA ,United Kingdom and many countries.

What really is Zimbabwe expected to do. All has been done and still sanctions are in place. Everything expected of Zimbabwean government has been done. What exactly is our sin.

As a notion we now know that if we do not come together as one we will die apart.

Dialogue Necessary To Create A Conducive Environment For Undisputed Elections – An Open Letter to Mnangagwa

Dear Mr Mnangagwa,

Dialogue that enables the development of processes that will result in undisputed election results is the only dialogue that is essential among stakeholders in the country in order to address the country’s challenges.

President Chamisa’s Rising Popularity Gives Zanu PF Heavyweights Sleepless Nights

Tinashe Sambiri| MDC Alliance leader, President Nelson Chamisa’s rising popularity is giving Zanu PF leader, Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa sleepless nights.

This was said by MDC Alliance Youth Assembly spokesperson, Stephen Sarkozy Chuma.

Zanu PF is reportedly forcing touts to masquerade as MDC Alliance defectors.

Read statement below:

MDC Alliance: We Are Unstoppable

What You Need To Know About Added Sugars

12 Potential Signs You’re Eating Too Much Sugar

Upset stomach, irritability, and sluggishness are all possible warnings you’re overdoing it on the sweet stuff.

Sugar gets a bad rap, but the truth is that it’s a vital source of energy and essential to our survival. Of course, not all sugars are the same. Fructose found in fruits and vegetables and lactose in dairy-rich foods are natural sugars we don’t have to be as concerned about because these foods also have fiber and calcium, for example. Added sugars, however, which are often found in processed foods, are those we could do without, and most of us consume too much of them.

According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2020–2025, the average American consumes 270 calories of added sugars, or 17 teaspoons, each day.

Added sugars are anything that’s added to food to make it taste sweet, and this includes natural sugars like honey and maple syrup. “Even though they may be more wholesome than table sugar, it’s still contributing more calories but not much in the way of vitamins and minerals,” says Jessica Cording, RD, a health coach in New York City and author of The Little Book of Game Changers.

Sugar is sneaky and can hide under 61 different names, according to the University of California in San Francisco. Despite your best efforts to make healthy food choices, you could be getting more sugar than you bargained for.

Negative Effects of Sugar on the Body

Per Harvard Health Publishing, when we eat sugar, most of it gets broken down and absorbed in the small intestine.

Specialized enzymes attack larger molecules and convert them into three simpler sugars: glucose, galactose, and fructose. The liver and muscles store some of the glucose as glycogen, a molecule that can be turned back into glucose when your body needs it.

When glucose enters the bloodstream, however, levels of blood glucose rise. In response, the pancreas secretes insulin to help glucose get where it needs to go in your body.

If you’re consuming large amounts of added sugar, the cells can become resistant to insulin over time — a risk factor for systemic inflammation, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic conditions.

According to a study published in November 2016 in the journal Nutrients, consuming too much added sugar has also been linked to weight gain and obesity, risk factors for heart disease, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and cancer.

“Excessive intakes of added sugars impact our energy, mood, weight, and disease risk,” Cording says. “Across the board it can impact our physical and mental well-being.”

“In order for us to function as smoothly and as normally as possible, we need our blood sugar to be operating in the Goldilocks zone of energy,” says William W. Li, MD, a physician in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and author of Eat to Beat Disease.

Are You Eating Too Much Sugar?

The recommendations for limits on added sugars vary among industry groups. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2020–2025, which are published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and U.S. Department of Agriculture, recommend limiting calories from added sugars to no more than 10 percent each day. For someone who consumes 2,000 calories a day, that’s a maximum of about 12 teaspoons worth…

Divine Lunga Excels In SA

With his name currently a subject of debate in the local football fraternity, Warriors and Golden Arrows defender Divine Lunga was named the man of the match in yesterday’s 1-1 stalemate with Swallows FC in the Dstv Premiership.

The 25-year-old, whose late withdrawal from the Warriors squad was questionable, leading to revelations that he had issues with coach Zdravko Logarusic, has sparked divided opinions, with some taking his side, while others are taking the Croat’s.

In yesterday’s game against Swallows, which Arrows were unfortunate not to collect maximum points, Lunga was impressive for the Durban-based side and deservedly named the best player of the match.

His fellow countrymen Knox Mutizwa and Danny Phiri, took part in the clash, which saw second-placed Arrows conced a equaliser in the 4th minute of time added on, a result which potentially dents their title aspirations.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

In-laws Bash Man Over Unpaid Lobola

A Bulawayo man was mercilessly thrashed by his in-laws before they took away his wife and three children because he had not paid lobola.

As if the accusations that he was enjoying their daughter’s affection without giving them their dues as an appreciation for raising a woman who bore him three children was not enough, Hlebiso Ndhlovu from Northvale suburb was also accused of infecting his wife Patience Zifodya with a sexually transmitted infection (STIs).

This emerged at the Bulawayo Civil Court where Ndhlovu was suing his mother-in-law, Lorinah Zifodya from Queens Park West for disturbing his peace by constantly harassing him over unpaid lobola and infecting their daughter with an STI.

He said his in-laws turned him into a subject of ridicule when they attacked him in full view of police officers, who instead of rescuing him, laughed at him.

“I am applying for a protection order against Lorinah Zifodya who is my mother-in-law. She is violent against me, my children and wife. On 6 October last year she came to my house and took my wife and three children because I had not paid lobola.

“She teamed up with her husband Richard Zifodya and assaulted me at the police station. While assaulting me my mother-in-law was shouting on top of her voice accusing me of not paying lobola and infecting her daughter with an STI. This was because I had demanded that my wife and children should come and stay with me,” complained Ndhlovu.

He said his mother-in-law was also coming to his place threatening him with an unspecified action. He insisted that his in-laws should not refuse to recognise him as their son-in-law.

“I didn’t refuse to pay lobola, but it is my belief that the issue should be negotiated amicably. For the past 10 years I had been married to their daughter I wanted to pay lobola, but I’m no longer trusting them because of the harassment they subjected me to when my firstborn child passed on in August 2011,” said Ndhlovu.

In her response through her lawyer, the mother-in-law vehemently denied all the allegations levelled against her.

“Each and every allegation made thereon is vehemently denied. I never at any point physically and emotionally abused him, his wife and children. The application is intended in abusing the State’s limited resources in settling his personal vendetta.

“The applicant and his wife are not in good books. Last year applicant was claiming custody of the children and his application was dismissed. Averments sought by the applicant does not tally with the relief being sought.

“He just wants custody of the minor children and he should prove the existence of any form of violence and repeated acts of emotional violence. The lack of the necessary averments means applicant is not entitled to the relief that he seeks,” responded Lorinah through her lawyer.

She said Ndhlovu has been a very irresponsible father as he was squandering his income on his own while neglecting his minor children.

In her judgment presiding magistrate Nkosinomusa Ncube ruled: “Applicant’s application falls out of the armbit of a protection order, but is instead actually an application for custody. He is advised to approach the Juvenile Court which is specifically structured and sensitive to issues relating to children and it has the jurisdiction to order who will be the custodian of the children”.

The magistrate subsequently dismissed Ndhlovu’s application.-B-Metro

“Rapist” Attacks Police Officers

A Mutare, man who was reportedly caught raping a 16-year-old girl in a maize field dragged her into his makeshift cabin and held her hostage before going on to attack cops with a crowbar.

John Ndlovu (35) was only arrested after a back-up reaction team of police officers from the Canine Section came with dogs that pulled him out of the shack.

Ndlovu’s victim had to hide under the bed during the melee and was finally rescued with no visible injuries. On Monday, Ndlovu appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mr Langton Mukwengi, facing rape charges.

He was denied bail and advised to apply for bail at the High Court. Public prosecutor, Ms Peserverance Musukuto, told the court that the suspect raped the girl on March 27 at around 7pm.

It is alleged that on the day in question, the complainant was coming from Mangenje Business Centre when she met the suspect along the way.

The accused person grabbed her hand but the girl freed herself from the grip and ran into a nearby house for help.

However, the house owners chased her away after seeing Ndlovu in hot pursuit while armed with a hoe.

The suspect caught up with the complainant and dragged her to a nearby maize field where he raped her once.

While in the maize field, a passerby heard the complainant screaming for help and went to investigate.

But the Good Samaritan took to his heels after the accused person attacked him with stones.

After sensing that his hide-out was now compromised, Ndlovu dragged the girl further into the bush and raped her again.

He then took the girl to his cabin and held her hostage.

However, the girl’s mother was alerted by neighbours about her daughter’s whereabouts after they had seen Ndlovu dragging her into his cabin.

“She quickly went to the police and reported the matter. The officers who first attended the scene from ZRP Sakubva failed to arrest the suspect who was armed with a crowbar and a kitchen knife.

“Moments later, a reaction team comprising of officers from the Canine Section came and rescued the girl. A section of the cabin had to be destroyed as the cops descended on the suspect who was holding the teenage hostage,” said Mrs Musukuto.

Dogs were set out on the suspect who was subsequently overpowered and arrested.

Following the arrest, the cops discovered an assortment of ladies’ panties and dresses in the suspect’s cabin.

One of the investigation officers who spoke to this publication on condition of anonymity said more women could have been abused by the suspect as evidenced by the clothes recovered from the shack.- Manica Post

Auxillia Mnangagwa Outrider’s Death: Fresh Details Emerge

A TRAFFIC clearance police officer died when a motorbike he was riding collided head-on with a Toyota Altezza at the 131km peg along Harare – Chinhoyi Road near Lion’s Den while trying to clear way for the First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa’s convoy, police have confirmed.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the accident which occurred on Friday at around 4.30 pm when the driver of the Toyota Altezza, also a police officer, lost control of the vehicle while trying to pull off the road and swerved to the right, encroaching onto the lane ahead of an oncoming police motorbike resulting in the collision.

“Police confirm that on April 2, 2021 at 4.30 pm, a fatal road traffic accident involving Sergeant Freddy Chipato of ZRP Chinhoyi Traffic occurred at the 131 km peg along Harare – Chinhoyi Road near Lion’s Den. Sgt Chipato was on VIP traffic clearance duties riding a police motor bike while the First Lady’s convoy was on its way from Mhangura.

Suddenly, a motorist, Tinotenda Mutandiro, who was later identified to be a police officer stationed in Harare came driving a Toyota Altezza on his way to Karoi with one passenger on board. He tried to pull off the road to the left in a bid to give way to the clearing party but failed and swerved to the right.

The Toyota Altezza then encroached on to the lane of the motor bike which was proceeding in the opposite direction. The vehicle then collided with the clearing motor bike and Sgt Chipato died on the spot after sustaining serious body injuries,” he said.- The Sunday News

In an unexpected move by local authorities that has shocked residents across the country in the middle of poor or non-existent service delivery, there is a huge outcry and a call for these authorities to justify these sharp and exorbitant increases in rates and other utilities.

Zimbabwe National Organisation of Associations and Residents Trusts ZNOART are keen to hear from all local authorities concerned why they have been such an upsurge without taking into consideration their reciprocation of services commensurate with the new bills.

Nearly all urban authorities have huge shortfalls in providing safe and portable water, refuse collection, emergency services, health facilities and general welfare of residents.

These increases have been coming over the years and no improvement has been observed in fact there is rapid deterioration and service provision and unprecedented dilapidation of infrastructures such as roads, lighting and recreational facilities.

Although we are totally against these exorbitant charges residents have also lost confidence in how this revenue is put to use if they decide to pay.

As residents we are calling upon the responsible ministry to rise to the occasion and come to our rescue by rendering definitive intervention, we regard this move by local authorities as an unnecessary bull rush intended to fleece the ordinary ratepayer of their hard-earned resources.
We understand that it is our responsibility to pay for service rendered but we feel that the bills should be confined to reasonable and affordable parameters failing which the vicious circle of non-compliance by residents and the incapacitation of service providers will continue.

We also feel that this move was ill-timed as the ordinary residents are still suffering from the effects of the COVID pandemic related lockdown which implied the limitation of earnings in most households.

Given the prevailing situation of allegations and pending court cases relating to corruption and abuse of office by a number of senior officers in urban councils, residents find it hard to digest the justification of these high figures as sentiments are pointing towards the fact that council officials will continue to fatten their own pockets at the expense of service delivery.

It is better to institute affordable rates which will translate into a higher rate of compliance from residents than to bill residents with figures outside of their reach.

We implore local authorities to be responsive to the outcries of their residents and consider revisiting their decisions and reduce these tariffs in a manner consistent with the prevailing economic conditions.

Mnangagwa’s Panic-Stricken Regime Running Scared, Disrupts Harare West Constituency Meeting

Divine Lunga Proves Critics Wrong

President Chamisa’s Rising Popularity Gives Emmerson Mnangagwa Sleepless Nights

Tinashe Sambiri| MDC Alliance leader, President Nelson Chamisa’s rising popularity is giving Zanu PF leader, Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa sleepless nights.

This was said by MDC Alliance Youth Assembly spokesperson, Stephen Sarkozy Chuma.

Zanu PF is reportedly forcing touts to masquerade as MDC Alliance defectors.

Read statement below:

What Are Added Sugars?

WARNING-DISTRESSING VIDEO: Suspect Says It Was Impossible To Burn The Head But the Body

By A Correspondent | A Zimbabwe Republic Police incident video has surfaced of a murder suspect who justifies why he cut his victim’s head off, saying he chose to burn the rest of the body but the head, because according to him the skull is too precious.

ZimEye reveals how the suspect justifies the murder saying it all happened during a fight at work.

The development which might explain the motive behind a rise in ritual killings, comes in the wake of the government scandal over the murder of the 7 year old Murehwa lad, Tapiwa Makore, who was murdered in September and his head is still to be found to this day.

Below is the transcript of the cut interview-

SUSPECT: Oh no, I just wanted to bury the head down in the earth. https://twitter.com/ZimEye/status/1378742872653004802?s=19

ZRP MALE COP: You mean the head?

ZRP FEMALE: But why didn’t you also burn the head together with the body?

ZRP MAKE COP: Did you start by striking him?

SUSPECT: No, I decided that the head is too precious it should not be burnt.

ZRP FEMALE COP: Alright

SUSPECT: You do not burn a person’s hair while it is still on the head.

ZRP MALE COP: So you would still burn burn the head?

SUSPECT: Yes

ZRP MALE COP: Because the police need to understand this. They are clueless. It’s easier to burn a person’s body but the head is impossible to do the same?

SUSPECT: Yes very good (you’ve got it).

ZRP MALE COP: You began by striking him with a rock and then you cut him or what?

SUSPECT: We fought at work, and then I struck him with a plastic bottle; He then fell down, then I took a machete, at work,…

and I sliced his head off, and then I burnt the body.

ZRP FEMALE COP: You removed the head while he was still alive or after he’d died?

SUSPECT: He had died.

ENDS THE VIDEO.
