I note with grave concern the ongoing issue about a minor Child who died whilst giving birth in Marange area.

I am writing this statement as a mother of two beautiful daugthers, a woman, and a Zimbabwean who is particular about Child rights.

It is Edmund Burke who once noted that, “The only thing necessary for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing”. I refuse to do nothing.

This statement is a public notice to the Zimbabwe Republic Police to apprehend the suspect Evans Momberume in 24 hours of this notice.

In the event that there is no arrest in stated period, I am driving personally to Marange area and conduct a Citizen arrest against the suspect, and bring him to the nearest Police Station.

I shall be broadcasting from the location so that whole of Zimbabwe sees in real-time the events.

My heart bleeds as I hear plans to send a 9year old to replace the child who is now deceased. Whilst, we are free to pursue our own faiths, any faith and practice that endangers the welfare and security of minor children is a nuisance in our society.

We need to look out for each other, and protect our vulnerable Children.

“We Are Not Moved By Mwonzora Recalls”: Daniel Molokele

By A Correspondent | MDC Alliance MP for Hwange Central, Honourable Fortune Daniel Molokele says he is unmoved by recalls initiated by Douglas Togarasei Mwonzora’s MDC T.

Mwonzora is accused of working with the Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa to dismantle the MDC Alliance.

Commenting on the recalls, Hon Molokele said:

“Yesterday, the MDC T resumed its very unpopular and undemocratic recalls.

The two municipalities of KweKwe and Chipinge were the initial casualties.

It is rumoured that more announcements are expected that will affect other municipalities.

It is not yet clear if the recalls will also spread to the Parliament of Zimbabwe.

On my part, my position has NOT changed at all.

I remain fully loyal and supportive of the MDC Alliance as led by President Advocate Nelson Chamisa.”

MDC Alliance councillor for ward 24, Bulawayo, Arnold Batirai-Dube described the recalls as ” satanic.”

“The satanic recalls have emerged , my position is people driven.

I belong to the people, I belong to MDC ALLIANCE, I will never in my lifetime belong to satanic Mwonzora’s Zanu pf aligned party.

I BELIEVE IN PRESIDENT CHAMISA S LEADERSHIP,” Batirai-Dube wrote on Facebook.

Covid-19 Nightmare For Cash Strapped Patients

By A Correspondent- Most private hospitals offering Covid-19 treatment are turning the pandemic into an economic and psychological nightmare for patients, with some of the institutions charging admission fees of up to US$1 000 per night.

With most Government hospitals already overwhelmed by Covid-19 patients, the only hope available for those needing treatment is private care, whose costs have spiralled beyond the reach of many.

A survey carried out by The Sunday Mail over the last few days revealed that the cost of admission of a Covid-19 patient at private clinics such as West End and Avenues Clinic is ranging from US$800 to US$1 000 per day in the intensive care unit (ICU). Montagu Clinic, which operates under Avenues Clinic in Harare, caters for five-day admissions and is reportedly charging US$3 500 for a general ward, US$5 100 for its high-dependence unit (HDU), US$4 000 for a private ward and US$7 600 for the intensive care unit (ICU). Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo is demanding a deposit of US$5 000 for patients who need ICU hospitalisation, an eye watering amount.

Most Covid-19 patients now have bills running into thousands of US dollars, while some patients are losing their lives after opting out of the private hospitals.

Chief co-ordinator of the National Response to the Covid-19 in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Dr Agnes Mahomva, said the Government would look into the issue. She said while charging Covid-19 patients was an administrative issue on the part of the Ministry of Health and Child Care, it was the Government that gives permission to private hospitals to test and treat Covid-19 patients.

“Since this is a global pandemic, the Government roped in the private sector to help in treating and testing of Covid-19 patients. We encourage people to go to the public health institutions and follow the correct channels, they will receive help,” she said.

The Medical and Dental Private Practitioners of Zimbabwe Association (MDPPZA), a body of medical practitioners in private practice, said the charges were justified.

MDPPZA president Dr Johannes Marisa said healthcare workers treating coronavirus patients faced extraordinary risks to themselves and their families.

“Inputs needed to manage and treat a Covid-19 patient are very expensive, especially the procurement of oxygen. We are not funded by anybody and in essence we are left with little to nothing after treatment of a Covid-19 patient,” he said.

Dismissing the allegations of profiteering, Dr Marisa said: “We provide research-backed cutting-edge care and our outcomes are comparable to the best. This does make Covid-19 care expensive.”- The Sunday Mail

No Kind Words For Gumbura’s 25 Widows

By A Correspondent- People have expressed mixed views over the future of the late Robert Martin Gumbura’s 25 widows.

Gumbura died at the weekend at Chikurubi maximum prison, serving a 40-year jail term for rape.

The jailed late cleric had 25 wives.

People took to social media, airing different views about the future of his widows.

Some unsympathetic commentators said the 25 widows would break neighbours marriages by falling in love with married people.

Roki, Koffi Mnangagwa Praise Song Hits 2 Million Views In One Day

By A Correspondent- Man of the moment Rockford ‘Roki’ Josphats’ has just broken his record after the recently released music video “Patati Patata” hit 2 million views in just one day.

Roki smashed his own YouTube record of 1,2 million views which he achieved with another hit song, “Uchandifunga”.

It featured the legendary Congolese soukous singer, Koffi Olomide, and Tanzanian BET award winner, Rayvanny.

Despite what others deemed ‘controversial lyrics’, Roki is riding high and conquering Africa simultaneously with this new music video.

Jerusalema Hitmaker, Master KG, and Tanzanian musician, Diamond Platnumz amongst other local artists, have since endorsed Roki’s new track. At the same time, it was also premiered on Trace Africa on the same day it was released.

After a long sabbatical from the microphone during which many had already written his music career as done and dusted, it seems the 35-year-old music legend is back to conquer the music scene just as the old days.

Critics Recycle Damning Mugabe Anti-Madhuku Video

By A Correspondent- Suspected opposition politics members are circulating a late old President Robert Mugabe’s interview, which was carried by the state broadcaster many years ago in which the late ruler was denouncing National Constitutional Assembly leader, Professor Lovemore Madhuku.

In the interview, the late President, portrays Madhuku as a greedy person who mobilises citizens, makes them demonstrate against him, get arrested before getting paid for that by the west.

During his heydays, Madhuku gave Mugabe torrid times and staged a series of successful protests against Mugabe’s powers that the late ruler used to abuse.

Madhuku would collaborate with like-minded civil society organisations, university students, and the opposition and shut down the entire nation.

The recycled video is circulating when Madhuku, one of the Political Actors Dialogue members, recently made headlines for receiving a POLAD car from the government.

As if Madhuku is the only one who got the POLAD car, his haters pretend to view the NCA leader as a sellout who is now wining and dining with Zanu PF, the party he used to denounce.

The Constitutional law expert parted ways with the opposition MDC of the late Morgan Tsvangirai in 2008 when the latter decided to form a unity government with Zanu PF.

Before parting ways, Madhuku made it clear that the unity government would destroy the country’s opposition.

He also disagreed with opposition on giving in to Zanu PF’s demands of tasking the unity government with the responsibility of writing a new constitution.

Commenting on the old circulating video, political analyst and brother to the NCA President, Claris Madhuku, on his social media platform, said those denouncing the University of Zimbabwe Law lecturer were missing the point.

Below is Claris’ opinion:

It makes Professor Madhuku a very critical player in our local politics.
He is not very ordinary in his approach, i want to argue. He is not in the class of NC. He is more irritating as a critic because of his precision.

Then( when the interview was done), he was the undisputed leader of the Civic society in terms of defiance in Zimbabwe. It reveals how irritating he was to the government of Mugabe.

The reference had very little to do with his personality or greediness but the imagery of western donor support and confrontation politics. Mugabe had problems with the west( sponsors of regime change).

MDC Alliance has not learnt from the past and continues to use the tired approach of confrontation that is budgeted from the western narrative of calling for sanctions.

Madhuku has changed tact and strategy on the basis of reading the current leadership style being applied by ED.

ED can be neutralised by ideas and by engaging. He has also neutralised the west through the same.

Caps United legend Joe ‘ Kode’ Mugabe has died.

POLAD “Proposes” Postponing 2023 Elections

By A Correspondent- The Political Actors Dialogue (Polad) platform set up by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in 2018 yesterday exposed a serious rift in the group over whether the country should postpone the 2023 elections.

Some of its members have also poured cold water on calls by the MDC-T led by Douglas Mwonzora to delay the polls.

This comes after recent reports that Mwonzora approached Mnangagwa and asked him to postpone the harmonised 2023 elections on the premise that they would be costly and divisive.

Some Polad members yesterday told NewsDay that some members had a broader plan to have the elections postponed and to push Mnangagwa to incorporate them in government and Parliament.

President of the little known Republican Party of Zimbabwe, Kwanele Hlabangana, who is also a member of Polad, said such calls were dangerous and should not be entertained.

“Those people that want the 2023 elections postponed are very dangerous because elections in any country are a constitutional matter, and we don’t hold elections based on the wishes of people. We hold elections because we follow the Constitution. I don’t see any argument or debate around elections because we have a Constitution in this country,” Hlabangana said.

“What sort of a country will we be running if we just decide that there are no elections? Polad cannot have a different position to the constitutional position. The only thing we are doing as Polad is we are pushing for electoral reforms. We believe elections should not be disputed like the situation we had in 2018. We want to have free and fair elections where the winners win and we don’t want excuses. We are working on all reforms, security reforms and everything to do with the Constitution,” he said.

But other Polad members said elections were an exercise that would cost the country a lot and were divisive, hence the need to postpone them and appeal to Mnangagwa to incorporate them into government and Parliament.

“That is a more progressive move that we are pushing (Polad). We cannot be perpetually in election mode and with what we have achieved in Polad, we are in the right direction, and so that should proceed,” a Polad member, who preferred not to be named, said.

Last week, National Constitutional Assembly chairman Lovemore Madhuku said Polad was in Zimbabwe to stay as a permanent body. He said it was an important platform to push for electoral reforms.

Polad has been criticised as a Zanu PF and Mnangagwa project meant to hoodwink the international community into believing that there is unity in the country.

The grouping consists of political parties and individuals who contested and dismally lost in the July 2018 elections. Some 19 Polad principals last week received brand new vehicles from Mnangagwa.

They were also pampered with diplomatic passports, and are currently waiting to be allocated farms by government.

Gumbura’s Death Exposes Zimimbabwe’s Poor Prison Conditions

By A Correspondent- The death of the incarcerated Robert Martin Gumbura yesterday has exposed the government’s unpreparedness to protect inmates from health hazards.

Gumbura died from Covid-19 on his way to the hospital from Chikurubi Maximum Prison.

He contracted Covid-19 from his detention cells.

Chikurubi maximum security Prison has become a hot spot for covid 19.

A psychiatric section with 400 psychiatric inmates 257 tested positive to covid 19 during the week, ZimEye can reveal.

The situation has forced the authorities to introduce forced vaccination and testing to officers. No one can enter Chikurubi maximum security Prison gates without a vaccination card and testing certificate.

There has been no running water at the prison complex for two weeks now, forcing the infection rate to surge.

Both officers and inmates are fetching water from unprotected wells.

The development also comes when the prison facility has gone for more than four months without cooking oil for prisoners’ food.

Hopewell Exposes How Passion Java Rigged YouTube Views

By Dorrothy Moyo | In August, the heroic Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono shut-the-sports on the foul mouthed pastor Passion Java who had spent the weekend throwing a party over his first 2 million views.

Java, is the producer of the Mnangagwa election campaign song, Patati Patata featuring the Congolese Kofi Olomide.

Said Chin’ono: They don’t just rig elections, they also rig YouTube views! Dear ZANUPF comrades, We went to university in Europe and America, and some of our classmates are now executives at social media companies like YouTube! You can lie and rig to rural people but not to us. Happy weekend

EXCLUSIVE: How Gumbura Ran Out Of Luck At The Last Minute

By A Correspondent | The following story narrates how the late jailed preacher Robert Martin Gumbura Ran out of both luck and life as he was to be released from prison this year.

Gumbura’s Lawyer, Lovemore Madhuku tells ZimEye the man was set to be released this year, meaning his sentence of 40 years was being cut down.

Lovemore Madhuku

Gumbura died today and it was reported that he died due to COVID-19.

The ZANU PF card carrying member, was fighting his conviction for rape passed 7 years ago.

For years he maintained that he was innocent.

Speaking to ZimEye, Prof Madhuku said after getting bail pending appeal, his chances of getting bail were now very high, adding that this was to happen this year.

Below is an exclusive interview with the late preacher’s lawyer Lovemore Madhuku on Saturday evening. Prof Madhuku spoke to ZimEye’s Simba Chikanza.

Madhuku: It’s a very devastating death I am quite sad about it I am still not aware of what exactly happened, because I just got the news; I am out of Harare. I am still to check what happened.

Qu: So you are not aware of these reports that say he died because of covid?

Madhuku: that’s what I just got but that’s only come out at the same time as the news of his death. but we never got to know about the fact that it was because of covid-19.

Qu: when was he due to be released?

Madhuku: yes we had actually succeeded in getting his yes and sentence reduced from the sentence of 40 years to any effective sentence of 20 years and he had served a substantial portion of it.

We had also obtained relief for him to appeal, he had actually filed an appeal and we were now in the process of wanting to get bail pending appeal.

Qu: so that would mean that he would be released this year then?

Madhuku: I missed what you said. What I can tell you is that…

Qu: He was likely to be released this year, then, most likely?

Madhuku: Yes I think we were going to get something like that. Because after Kereke got bail pending appeal, his chances of getting bail were also very high, now.

Qu: Do you know enough about the conditions of the prisons?

Madhuku: under this current COVID situation they are really bad conditions there. I think the death really shows that something has to be done about the conditions, I think they have to improve; we have to attend; that death sends a message about the conditions.

Logarusic Survives Axe

This means there will be no drastic measures against the embattled Croat gaffer.ations made by the association’s technical and development committee on Logarusic’s future was also called off.

The Bryton Malandule-led ZIFA technical and development committee met last month soon after Zimbabwe’s disastrous performance at the 2021 COSAFA Cup, in which the Warriors finished bottom of the 10-team tournament.

Auxilia Mnangagwa A Crown Befitting A Mother: Mavaza

Mai Auxilia-Mnangagwa

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | As Zimbabwe prepares to honour their living and non-living heroes in an annually occasion, the president in his wisdom has taken this opportunity to honour some people past and present heroes.

True Zimbabweans have accepted with satisfaction the honouring among others of the First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa. Even though there is a few misguided pressure groups and political opposition parties who are seriously suggesting that the first Lady should not be rewarded.
The honouring of heroes must be done regardless of the hero’s proximity to the president of Zimbabwe. The fact that she is the wife of the president must never be the impediment to recognising hard and heroic work wherever It shows it’s head.
The First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa is A woman for all times and seasons, for all people, and for all occasions. She is God’s shining light, in the darkness, she is the way, leading others home, she is the life of Zimbabwe for all peoples.
In Auxilia Mnangagwa Zimbabwe has one of the greatest gifts God has given to each of us is our living memory. Because of it we have images of wonderful things that have happened to us in the past by people who were so concerned about us. On a larger scale, the country now has a great memory of a woman called Auxillia MNANGAGWA. A simple woman who lived a simple life not just playing politics and preaching the gospel but living the gospel she preached. Anyone who has seen a picture in the newspaper about her or a television show about her has a great memory. She did not only give food to the people of the rural areas and towns she was an Angel in the memory of many who were touched and those still being touched by her. The leper, the Aids patient, the poor, the indentured, the suffering comedians, the great singers, many of them have had dismal memories of the past, but this woman gave them a memory they will cherish forever. They will have a reason for hope. They will have a better life waiting them.
No First Lady in the last 42 years has created an impact on the memory of mankind as has Auxiliary MNANGAGWA. When Christ gave the words, “when I was hungry, you gave me to eat; when I was thirsty you gave me to drink and naked you clothed me”, Auxillia helped those words become reality in the lives of the unfortunate who had very few good memories.
As she is being honoured she will be and her legacy will be known for compassion love and care. Thousands of words have been spoken about her and what she has done for the downtrodden and the unfortunate. She gave love and it was unconditional.

The First Lady was born in March 1963 in Mazowe District in Mashonaland Central, where she did both her primary and secondary education.
She the proceeded to Silveira House in Chishawasha, were she was doing secretarial studies, she then joined the Ministry of Manpower Planning and Development in 1981.
Because she was a caring person by nature she took her hospitality love to the Rainbow Tourism Group where she worked in all hotel departments.
In pursuit of excellence Auxilia left the country to pursue studies in hotel and tourism administration in Switzerland and she graduated with her degree in 2001.
Auxilia was bursting with intelligence so she put it into practice In 2008, when she graduated with a Masters in Business Administration Degree from the Midlands State University in Zimbabwe.
Currently she is undertaking a PhD with the Midlands State University.
Auxilia is not that type of a person who just sits and bask in the glory of the husband she stretches her hand in every aspect for the best interest of the under privileged.
She is a former Chairperson of Pan African Parliament for the Southern African Region.
Auxilia has lived and breathed philanthropic work all over Zimbabwe. Because of her service to the public she is Passionately known as Amai, she is a champion of the needs of the vulnerable in society.

Contrary to the detractors Even prior to her becoming the First Lady, she has footprints demonstrating a passion for the needs of the vulnerable.
She was instrumental in the establishment of women’s banks in all constituencies in the Midlands Province.
She encouraged women empowerment through ownership of livestock and handcrafts (sewing knitting and clay-pot moulding),this resulted in most of the women being able to purchase their own residential stands and building houses for the first time in their lives.

She has proved that she is innovative as She also promoted floor-tiling of rural homes as a way of promoting good hygiene.
The First Lady also was instrumental in promoting women in cross border trading as a means of self-sustenance.
On assumption of her role as First Lady she has intensified her initiatives of empowering the vulnerable by forming the Angel of Hope Foundation.
As founder and Patron of the Angel of Hope Foundation she has spearheaded philanthropic work spreading its wings to the most marginalised communities and advocating for the preservation of their culture, for example the San people (bush men) and Doma community.
Through her Foundation the First Lady has visited communities and institutions donating foodstuffs, bed linen, stationary, ICT and medical equipment, and initiating comprehensive self-help projects like fishponds, nutrition gardens, orchards and free range chicken rearing.
Currently she has engaged the spouses of traditional leaders as agents of change and empowerment to influence other women under their jurisdiction to engage in self-help projects. Each spouse received two productive goats for a start in a nationwide goat rearing project.
Auxilia has initiated several women empowerment projects in partnership with both public and private players benefiting thousands of women.

In recognition of her selfless work towards women and children’s health the First Lady was appointed as Ambassador for Health and Childcare.

She was also honoured as Patron of Environment by the Ministry of Environment Water and Climate in recognition of her passion and hard work towards environmental preservation.

The First Lady is an active member of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) known for fighting against the spread of HIV and actively engaging the youth on sexual health matters discouraging premarital sex.

During the OAFLAD’ s 23rd General Assembly Ordinary Session in Niamey, Niger on 8th July 2019, she was elected Vice President of this African First Ladies Organisation as a result of her hard work which has been noticeable even beyond the national borders of Zimbabwe.
She has been facilitating free medical specialist services to marginalised communities through her outreach programmes.
She has also been providing accessible and free cervical, breast and prostate cancer screening through her mobile clinic screening programme.

The First Lady launched the National Human Papilloma Virus Vaccination (HPV), an anti- cancer programme expected to benefit over 800 000 girls aged between 10 and 14.
The First Lady has been actively advocating for safe sanitary wear in girls and women and has been donating sanitary wear including reusable sanitary wear.

She has been applauded by the Ministry responsible for Primary and Secondary education and other stakeholders for her keen interest in addressing and engaging adolescents by way of interactive sessions on a country-wide schools programme discussing issues around child abuse, early marriages, teen pregnancies, drug abuse, bullying and school drop outs.

Again she engages men under the Men’s Conference on issues of Gender Based Violence, Child Marriages, and Sexual abuse especially of minors as well as challenging men to improve their health seeking behaviours.

The First Lady hosts a series of Family Fun Days aimed at promoting wellness and recreation in especially women and the elderly through sport.

The First Lady hosts a series of workshops for widows & Orphans on Inheritance and Property Rights and Deceased Estates.
The nomination of the First Lady to receive an award is a perfect and noble thing ever done. Almost everyone loves the idea of “speaking truth to power.”  Standing tall, talking boldly, consequences be damned – how heroic! Auxilia stands for the truth and she is the Angel of reality.

Auxilia MNANGAGWA believed that “Everyone should be completely equal” she has fought for equality between man and man.
Additionally, over the years individual first ladies have held influence in a range of sectors, from fashion to public opinion on policy.

As a nation we thank Auxilia Mnangagwa we are so grateful for her family’s service and sacrifice…and we will always have her back. Mai has had extraordinary privilege of traveling all across this country.

Everywhere she has gone, and the people She met, and the stories she heard, She has shown the very best of the Zimbabwean spirit.
Auxilia has shown the incredible kindness and warmth enveloping her and the people she met sing of her humility and grace.
Heroes are a common part of our culture. Indeed, they are a common part of most cultures. More often than not, they are a model of the beliefs of a culture. And it is this that makes heroes an ideal means of evaluating the state of a people, an era, a nation, or whichever group such heroes may apply to.

Heroes represent to us far more than just entertainment – they represent a moral ideal.
Despite those few who try to criticise her Auxilia stands in the face of opposition, of evil, and they say “no”. Mai MNANGAGWA as a , hero refuses this burden of oppression of women by men She is man’s creative answer to oppression. Of all the First Ladies who graced Zimbabwe Auxilia has her own quality her willingness to fight evil, her strong sense of duty, her defined sense of good and righteousness, her humility despite her position and her consistency.

Consistency is often viewed as an impossibility in our daily lives but Auxilia has become an icon riding on consistency.
Auxilia is a model of good, of what is righteous, of the ideal citizen. To be inconsistent would require that she compromise on the good – and when one compromises on the good, there is but one thing you can compromise with: the evil. For a hero to be inconsistent for a second would be for him to willingly submit himself to evil. But our First Lady has shown us that power does not make her evil.
We thank the President for awarding this medal meant for heroes to Auxilia the wonderful First Lady.

We must all remember that heroes are a reflection of our culture, of who we are as a people. So who are we? What can we see in our culture today that is different, aside from our heroes? Mai MNANGAGWA will go on her knees to crown our lovely culture. She sits in the dust to cook sadza she is the mother of Culture.

We must remember that in 2019 Auxilia MNANGAGWA joined hands with Merck Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Merck KGaA Germany who organized their first ‘Merck Foundation Health Media Training’ on 16th September 2019 in Harare, Zimbabwe in partnership with Auxillia Mnangagwa, the First Lady of Zimbabwe and Ambassador of Merck More Than a Mother together with Ministries of Health and Information to break the stigma around infertility in Zimbabwe and rest of Africa.

Abduction Of Itai Dzamara According To Own Lawyer

Last picture of Itai Dzamara under abduction, confirmed by family

By Kennedy Masiye | Today, 7th August is Itai Dzamara’s birthday (born August 7, 1979). Itai Dzamara’s family continues to suffer a general state of anguish, insecurity and fear. Itai Dzamara was abducted on 9 March 2015 and six years after the abduction the family does not know the whereabouts of their beloved one.1 Itai Dzamara would have been celebrating his 42nd birthday with his family today!

I was Itai Dzamara’s lawyer and bear first-hand information on the encounters I articulate below. Six
months after High Court Judge Justice David Mangota ordered the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) to conduct a search for freelance journalist and pro-democracy activist Itai Dzamara, who went missing in March 2015, the ZRP summoned lawyers representing the Dzamara family to participate in a joint probe search following some information leads which were passed on.

I was part of that team! Also please note that the Zimbabwe Police Investigations team on the
disappearance of Itai Dzamara, which was then led by Assistant Commissioner Makedenge, has this
information.

Itai Dzamara is still missing as result of a forced abduction by functionaries of the Zimbabwean
government. The Government of Zimbabwe has not offered convincing proof that would allow any
reasonable person to determine that the allegations are not true. The Zimbabwe Republic Police has in its
possession all the evidence needed to seriously investigate the abduction but alas they have ignored,
neglected or simply refused to seriously investigate the case. The police even know the names of the people who are suspected to have abducted Itai Dzamara who are as follows: Tichareva Mubaira, Liberty Shamu, Owen Ziwanai Mazarura, Tendai Chinyani, Watson Marufu(identified as a military officer stationed at KGVI).

These names are also in the police communication written by Assistant Commissioner, Officer
Commanding Law and Order, Mr. Makedenge and dated 24 September 2015 addressed to the Zimbabwe Republic Police Director of Legal Services. I suggested to Mr. Makedenge to trace these suspects using information provided on the Identity documents with the Registrar General but refused!

3.https://www.thestandard.co.zw/2016/10/16/activists-name-dzamaras-abductors/

There is documentary evidence to show that Itai Dzamara was kidnapped and disappeared in Zimbabwe in March of 2015 and that act can be attributed to either or, jointly or severally to the Armed Forces of Zimbabwe, the Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Central Intelligence Organization in Zimbabwe. Various witnesses anonymously produced evidence of how Itai Dzamara was kidnapped, imprisoned in clandestine jails and tortured.

The police even have the number plate of one of the cars identified as used to abduct Itai Dzamara as ABG2862. Investigations revealed that the vehicle registration ABG2862 belonged to one Ishmael Matyenyika. Matyenyika was interviewed in my presence, even though his testimony seemed coached, he told the police and produced some documents showing that he bought the vehicle right at the same period the car was identified in the abduction.

The agreement of sale showed that Ishmael Matyenyika had acquired the vehicle from the Zimbabwe Republic Police vehicle auction at Southerton Police and it was previous owned by the police (what a coincidence). According to evidence available so far, the modus operandi of how Itai Dzamara was abducted seems to have followed a well know pattern on the practice of disappearances in Zimbabwe. They used at white twin cab motor vehicles and identified themselves as Police officers. The kidnapping was selective.

Furthermore, the testimony of the three witnesses who witnessed the abduction shows that Itai Dzamara was first placed under surveillance, then the kidnapping was planned. All the witnesses present at the barbershop were the abduction happened, testified that, before the abduction took place, they saw white double cab vehicles parked at all the street corners surrounding the barbershop. Photographic evidence and subsequent evidence in the police’ possession confirmed the existence of secret jails and of specially chosen places for clandestinely buring dead bodies.

4 Images of Itai Dzamara blindfolded, with hands tied behind his back were sent to the Dzamara family.

The images portrayed a subjection to cruel and humiliating treatment and torture. The family verified the image of the photo and confirmed that it was indeed Itai Dzamara. The evidence also showed that within the Armed Forces of Zimbabwe there was a torture group and an interrogation group in his unit. In police communication written by Assistant Commissioner, Officer Commanding Law and Order, Mr. Makedenge and dated 24 September 2015, investigating information received, it was highlighted that Itai Dzamara was abducted by the above mentioned people and taken to Border Gezi for four (4) days then moved to Goromonzi farm by Watson Marufu from Army KG6 after a meeting between the Army, Police, and CIO accusing each other.

The information also said that Itai Dzamara was killed and buried at Chikurubi prison cemetery, grave 71, exhumed, taken to a dam in Chitanda Farm, Mazoe Road. Chitanda Farm is where the CIO headquarters is being built. When queried by the family, and lawyers with executing a writ of habeas corpus filed in the High Court of Zimbabwe when Itai Dzamara was abducted, the authorities systematically denied any knowledge of the detentions or the whereabouts or fate of Itai Dzamara.

Surprisingly, even after the High Court ordered that that the Zimbabwe Police must give a report on the investigations to the court it took the police several months to comply only to act when lawyers threatened contempt of court proceedings. This attitude by the Zimbabwe government is not new, in the past, they have refused responsibility even in the cases of persons who later reappeared (Jestina Mukoko case and others) in the hands of the same authorities who had systematically denied holding them or knowing their fate. The kidnapping of Itai Dzamara was carried out in broad daylight by men in civilian clothes who used a vehicle with license plates. There can be no doubt that the government of Zimbabwe knows what happened to Itai Dzamara. The Dzamara family have the right to know the whereabouts of Itai and the government

has an obligation to investigate and hold the perpetrators accountable. The mere subjection of an individual to prolonged isolation and deprivation of communication is in itself cruel and inhuman treatment which harms the psychological and moral integrity of the person and violates the right of every detainee to treatment respectful of his dignity.

Tinashe Sambiri|MDC Alliance leader President Nelson Chamisa has distanced himself from Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s biography.

The Making Of Patati Patata

By Showbiz Reporter | The below footage is that of the actors and performers of the controversial song, Patati Patata.

Instrumentals of the track were done by the ever skilful, Oskid. The latter is seen doing what he knows best on his grey midi keyboard, tabbing through note after note across several octaves. There does not seem to be an error in what he is doing, and the keyboardKid grins out his conquest while everyone watches. After several layers have been belted, the battle is now of pumping human vocals.

The singers do not start blasting out before they throw a celebration. Oskid does not stop skidding, as if he is kidding.

In no time at all, the song is here, and yes it talks about love between couples, it says a woman is sweet while also describing Emmerson Mnangagwa. Is he the woman the song talks about or what? In case it does so, so what? This is the writer’s mind as they say:

ZANU PF Silence On Rape And Child Marriages Stunning

MDC Alliance Youth Assembly Concerned About Increase In Girl Child Abuses

07-08-2021

The MDC Alliance Youth Assembly notes with concern a surge in cases of child abuse particularly sexual abuse of the girl child.

The recent case of Melody Machaya (14) who died gruesomely whilst giving birth at a shrine of the Marange Apostolic sect is just a micro of the macro of this taunting social malady that is threatening our communities.

It is sad that many of these cases of child marriages are being swept under the carpet whilst victims suffer in silence.

As the MDC Alliance Youth Assembly, we call for the responsible authorities to make sure that perpertrators of such shameful acts are brought to book.

Rape in its various forms, child marriages and abuse have no place in the modern society.

We call upon all critical stakeholders to speak with one voice against abuse of the girl child.

It is worrisome that while every other individual or organisation are adding up their voices against rape and child marriages, we have a deviant grouping that remains tight lipped on the issue.

The silence of ZANU PF top officials on the Machaya issue and rape cases in general is loud and suspicious!

It is also ironic that in a week where the Machaya saga was topical, Emmerson Mnangagwa’s regime send a message to would be offenders by releasing a convicted rapist, Munyaradzi Kereke.

Action speaks louder than words!

The message from ZANU PF is very simple, “Rape, got to jail and we release you!”.

The abuse of women in the Office of President and Cabinet (OPC) as evidenced by Kembo Mohadi’s sexual excapades with his subordinates is a clear indictment on the regime.

As young social democrats, one of our ideological anchors is justice and in that regard we call for justice for Memory Machaya and all young girls facing such kind of predicaments.

BREAKING: Gumbura’s Lawyer Confirms He Was Set To Be Released This Year

By A Correspondent | The late jailed preacher Robert Martin Gumbura’s Lawyer, Lovemore Madhuku has said the man was set to be released this year, meaning his sentence of 40 years was being cut down.

Renowned academics have already dismissed Mr Mnangagwa’s biography saying it is a “smorgasbord of half-truths and deliberate misrepresentation of facts.”

President Chamisa has declared that he will never read Mr Mnangagwa’s biography.

“This (photoshopping) has come to my attention. I have never read and will never read any book about ED. Never ever.

Photoshopping can’t be a solution to our problems,” said President Chamisa.

MDC Alliance Secretary General Hon Charlton Hwende also described the production of the fake picture by Varakashi as desperation of the worst kind.

“Everything about ED is fake! Fake Presidential results, Fake Presidency , Fake Nationality Now they are faking President Nelson Chamisa’s picture reading a book on General Mujuru. Iro book renyu na Eddie Cross verengai Mega,” said Hon Hwende.

Threatened Zanu PF Fires Back

THE ARREST OF CLLR TAITI BUSUMANI PURELY POLITICAL:MDC-A MASH WEST

03-08-2021

The arrest of Cllr Taiti Busumani of Nyaminyami Rural District Council Ward 3 is not only illegal and unlawful but also political.

Councillor Taiti Busumani has excelled beyond expectation and ZANU PF is feeling threatened by the excellence and brilliance exhibited by this hardworking MDC Alliance Councillor hence the plot to scupper his clean record.

It is a shameful lie that Councillor Busumani was not involving the local leadership. For the record,Cllr Busumani has worked with his local leadership from the onset resulting in the fruition of countless projects in the ward.

The Constituency is a pro-MDC Alliance one hence the electorate and the party deployees work hand in glove. It is a fallacy to allege that Our Councillor was working in solitude without the local leadership yet the MDC Alliance lives and survives in the people.

The fact that the police illegally detained Cllr Taiti Busumani for three consecutive days without preferring a charge clearly exposes the political nature of these allegations. They detained him without a cause and were running around like headless chicken hoping to find a charge to nail him with but couldn’t find any.

It’s a shame in this day and age that the police force is reduced to a mediocre police force by some overzealous elements who choose to weaponise the law.

We wonder who could have instituted Cllr Taiti Busumani’s arrest when there was no complainant at all.We understand that Cllr Busumani was audited by the Council Auditors and also Auditors from the Ministry of Local Government and was found clean as a whistle.Arresting and detaining him without prefering charges is therefore a violation of his fundamental human Rights.

It is an open secret that the ZANU is clamouring for a by-election in the MDC Alliance controlled wards hence witchunting shamelessly even when they find no fault.

We therefore maintain our Councillor’s innocence and maintaining that it is nothing but sheer witchunting meant to villify him and a violation of his freedoms and liberties.

The only crime Cllr Taiti Busumani committed according to ZANU is to serve his ward wholeheartedly and to full fill his election promises which has not only pained but also given ZANU PF sleepless nights.

We would like to make it categorically clear and with no ambiguity whatsoever that as The MDC Alliance Mashonaland Best Province we will keep on delivering the best that we promised our electorate. We are relentless in our quest to full fill our election promises. The weaponisation of the Law to detail us will not stop us whatsoever!!!

Mutsvangwa Fumes Over Miles Tendi Analysis Of ED Biography

By A Correspondent- Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa has launched a scathing attack on UK-based academic and biographer Blessing Miles Tendi over his criticism of the recently published biography of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The book, authored by former MDC secretary of policy, Eddie Cross, titled A life of Sacrifice was launched at State House Thursday and chronicles Mnangagwa’s life.

Tendi, via his Twitter account, criticised the book alleging it has several omissions and historical falsehoods. He said:

Of historical falsehoods and silences:

1. Mnangagwa was not a member of the Crocodile Gang.

2. Silence on the 1980’s Gukurahundi.

3. Silence on the DRC War.

4. Silence on the death of Solomon Mujuru.

5. The 2017 military coup is referred to as a “military assisted transition”.

His remarks attracted criticism from Mutsvangwa, a former advisor to President Mnangagwa, who claimed Tendi himself made errors in the Solomon Mujuru biography – The Army and Politics in Zimbabwe: Mujuru, the Liberation Fighter and Kingmaker.

Mujuru, known by his nom-de-guerre Nhongo until 1992, when he retired from the army, was second in command of the Zimbabwe African National Liberation Army (ZANLA).

According to Tendi, Mujuru played a key role in enabling Robert Mugabe to seize the leadership of the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) in 1976. He eventually led Zimbabwe’s national army, became a businessman of some note, and continued to play significant roles in ZANU’s internal politics until his unexplained death in 2011.

Tendi chronologically tells Mujuru’s story from childhood, through his years in the liberation struggle and forward into independent Zimbabwe. He also claims Mujuru distrusted now president Emmerson Mnangagwa and opposed his rise within ZANU PF.

Mutsvangwa said:

Blessing Miles Tendi, you are free to write oceans of ink and forests of paper on selected topics of your choice on any historical event. What you cannot do is compel Eddie Cross to write about what he independently thinks.

You simply are just not his brain box. His grey matter is not your real estate. Neither is his writing hand your narcissist pen.

You wrote your rag book extolling an illiterate comrade as the epitome of guerrilla valour and prowess in the most glorious military endeavour of modern Africa’s anti-colonial, anti-racist warfare against the self-anointed Masters of the Universe of the West. In your specious tome, you blinded yourself to the modern African military genius that was General Magama Tongogara.

For reasons of pandering to compromised patronage, your eyes only opt to pick out specks on a big screen.

All said, you can never be a professional photographer to a wedding. Your camera lense will ogle about, registering gatecrashers and scruffy drunkards. Them rather than the folding ceremony and its enthroned bride and groom. Please do spare us your post-event can’t about the Chimurenga-Mvukelo. It will never serve as the substitute of the true historical experience that EDM painfully walked barefoot on smouldering embers.

ED Replaces The Late Army Commander Lt Gen Edzai Chimonyo

By A Correspondent- The new Commander of the Zimbabwe National Army is Lieutenant General David Sigauke with President Mnangagwa promoting him from major general and appointing him to the army command with effect from July 30.

Lt Gen Sigauke replaces the late Lt Gen Edzai Chimonyo who died last month.  As part of the reassignments within the top ranks of the army, Brigadier General Emmanuel Matatu was promoted by the President to Major General.

A third promotion came with the retirement of Brigadier General Sydney Bhebhe who moves to the retired list as a Major General. Before his promotion Lt Gen Sigauke was Chief of Staff general staff, the number two post in the army.

His promotion has seen a general reassignment of senior army officers. Major General Kasirai Tazira moves from Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) headquarters, where he was Inspector General, to Army Headquarters as Chief of Staff general staff.

From left, Defence and War Veterans Affairs Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, new Army Chief of Staff Administration Staff Major General Emmanuel Matatu, newly promoted Zimbabwe National Army Commander Lieutenant General David Sigauke and Zimbabwe Defence Forces Commander General Philip Valerio Sibanda pose for a picture at Defence House in Harare yesterday.

In turn Maj Gen Paul Chima moves from Chief of Staff administration staff at army headquarters to ZDF headquarters as Inspector General while Maj Gen Matatu moves from the Zimbabwe National Defence University to Army Headquarters as Chief of Staff administration staff.

Maj Gen Hlanganani Dube remains at Army Headquarters as Chief of Staff quartermaster.

Conferring the new insignia of rank to the three promoted general officers, Defence and War Veterans Affairs Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri said their promotion was an acknowledgement of the generals’ loyalty, hard work and diligence. She urged the generals to continue demonstrating high levels of professionalism which earned them the recognition.

“I wish to express my sincere gratitude to His Excellency the President and Commander In Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces for promoting these three general officers to the next higher rank,” she said.

To the new ZNA Commander, Lt-Gen Sigauke, Minister Muchinguri-Kashiri said the appointment was challenging and came with many expectations from superiors.

“As leader of the ZNA, you will be expected to rally soldiers in implementing Government programmes such as the NDS 1. You will also have responsibility to look after the welfare of the forces inculcating discipline and loyalty as well as capacitating them to adequately defend the country’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity,” she said.

Minister Muchinguri-Kashiri said the promotion of Maj Gen Matatu was well deserved and would add value to the ZDF in the capacity he would serve. She said the Zimbabwe Defence Forces acknowledged Maj Gen Bhebhe’s immense contribution during his long active service.

“Be reminded that the organisation will call upon you to render service, from time to time, tapping on your wealth of experience.

“It is my sincere hope that these three promotions inspire others as this is a reflection that the organisation rewards hardwork,” she said.

Lt-Gen Sigauke thanked President Mnangagwa for the recognition given to the three generals which he said was a show of confidence and trust. He promised that the work left by the late commander Lt-Gen Edzai Chimonyo would be continued.

“As I take over, I will ensure the vision is brought to fruition. We promise to serve Zimbabwe and ensure its people and territorial integrity are safeguarded at all costs,” he said.

Housing Cooperatives Fight ‘Fraudulent’ Transfer Of Harare Land To A Company Linked To Ken Sharpe

By A Correspondent| Housing cooperatives in Harare have approached the High Court challenging a joint venture agreement that saw City of Harare transferring land worth millions of United States dollars to a company controlled by Kenneth Raydon Sharpe’s Augur Investments.

According to the joint venture agreement in which City of Harare is a minority shareholder with only 30 percent shares, the two entities formed a company called Sunshine Development which was supposed to carry out a number of projects including construction of a hotel, a truck Inn and housing units among others.

As part of its contribution to the joint venture deal, City of Harare was supposed to transferred 99,4197 hectares but ended up transferring 239, 3823 hectares of prime Harare land while Augur Investments’ commitment of between US$20 million to US$30 million has not been honored to date.

In a High Court application challenging the transfer of City of Harare land to Sunshine Development Private Limited, a joint venture company with Augur Investments, housing cooperatives under their umbrella organisation the Zimbabwe Homeless People Federation and two other applicants sought to have the shareholders agreement and the joint venture agreement declared null and void.

The applicants, the Zimbabwe Homeless People Federation said the shareholders agreement that culminated in a joint venture agreement stipulated that Sharpe’s company Augur Investments would provide capital through a loan account for improvement of land supplied by City of Harare.

In terms of the Shareholders Agreement a total of 99,4197 hectares of land would be transferred to the 7th Defendant (Sunshine Development (Pvt) Ltd),”

Zimbabwe Homeless People Federation however claimed that more 239,3823 hectares of land eventually ended up being transferred to Sunshine instead of the 99,4197 as per the shareholders agreement.

The shareholders agreement between Sharpe’s company and City of Harare also involves the conversion of Warren Hills Golf Club, a recreation area on stands 8114 and 19606 Warren Park Township of Salisbury District into a residential housing units.

What has set tongues wagging is according to Zimbabwe Homeless People Federation the fact that Sunshine Development has not fulfilled any of its part of the bargain including injection of the capital sum of US$30 Million meant to operationalize the joint venture.

This is despite the fact that City of Harare has already transferred land to Sunshine Development as per the agreement.

The failure by Augur to inject capital into the joint venture has irked Zimbabwe Homeless People Federation who described the agreement as a fraudulent vehicle of extracting land from the City of Harare.

“The agreement therefore represented a fraudulent vehicle of extracting land from the City of Harare. This is against the laws of Zimbabwe. This is against the Constitution of Zimbabwe and the funding principles in the Constitution of Zimbabwe. This is against decency,” further reads the application.

A Call To An End To Child, Forced And Early Marriages In Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) is alarmed by media reports that a 14-year old girl, Memory Machaya, passed away recently while giving birth at an apostolic sect church shrine in Marange in Manicaland province, and reports that child, forced and early marriages are increasing in Zimbabwe.

The culture of child, forced and early marriages in Zimbabwe perpetuates gender-based violence and undermines the health, growth, dignity, security and development of the girl child in Zimbabwe.

Child, forced and early marriages are also linked to higher rates of school dropouts, unintended pregnancies due to sexual abuse and also increased risks of miscarriage, unsafe abortions, stillbirth, intrauterine haemorrhage and increased vulnerability to HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections among young girls.

Zimbabwe has a clear obligation under international and regional treaties and conventions and national legislation to take measures to prevent child marriages and address all forms of violence against women and girls.

Sections 78 and 81 of the Constitution provide that anyone below the age of 18 years is a child, and the Constitutional Court has confirmed that marriage with children under 18 years is prohibited. Section 78(2) of the Constitution provides that no person can be compelled to enter into a marriage against their will.

Section 70 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act (Chapter 9:23) provides that any person who has sexual intercourse with a person below the age of 16 years, with or without their consent, shall be guilty of rape or aggravated indecent assault or indecent assault.

The Domestic Violence Act (Chapter 5:16) criminalises abuse derived from any cultural or customary rites or practices, including child and forced marriages that discriminate against or degrade girls and women.

Sadly, in spite of these legal protections, there is an on-going and unabated practice in religious and cultural sects of rape, child abuse, and marrying-off young girls, exposing them to child pregnancies and worse.

It is against this background that ZLHR calls on:

•       Members of the apostolic sect to desist from practising these harmful practices as they expose young girls to sexual predators and is tantamount to rape and child abuse.

•       The Zimbabwe Republic Police and human rights institutions such as the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) and the Zimbabwe Gender Commission (ZGC) to investigate this issue and bring the perpetrators to account according to section 245 of the Constitution. Law enforcement agencies should enforce the law without fear, favour or
prejudice.

•       The Parliament of Zimbabwe to pass the Marriages Bill 2019 into law as a matter of urgency, during its current sitting, to align the legislation with sections 78 and 81 of the Constitution by repealing outdated provisions allowing young girls to get married at 16 years, or younger with the consent of the minister.

•       All stakeholders such as the civil society, ZHRC, ZGC, traditional and church leaders to coordinate themselves and engage on child, early and forced marriages.

•       All stakeholders to conduct awareness programmes to inform rural and urban dwellers about the dangers of child, early and forced marriages and the laws that are being violated. It is also important to educate society as a whole about gender-based violence and the laws and policies that exist in the country.

•       Communities to report child, early and forced marriages to the police and other stakeholders working in this area. Most cases remain underreported due to fear of retribution

LEAD PRESIDENT LAMENTS GIRLS’ S_EXUAL ABUSE

6 August 2021

I have been hurting the past fortnight about the Memory Machaya experience and subsequent death. As a mother and a woman, when I read about how she died I got shivers down my spine and could feel the pain of what she went through.

I have a 12 year old daughter and I would try to picture her being married and pregnant and my conscience screamed NO and pushed me to do something.

After doing research about the livelihoods of women and the girl child in the Marange Sect, I had three consecutive sleepless nights self introspecting on whether or not I have done enough as a women’s rights defender and girl child rights advocate.

This morning, I realized that I haven’t done enough as long as 12-17 year olds are still being married off before the legal age of consent to get married in Zimbabwe which is 18. I am ashamed that girls are subjected to sexual abuse and sexploitation in the name of religion and child marriage.

I am disgusted that I am one of those women who tireslessly claim to be fighting for the girl child whilst they are being denied access to education and subjected to servitude and living conditions which are as good as servitude.

This morning I made a bold decision to fight for the girl child in Bocha Marange and every other girl child who is being sexploited, abused and manipulated. This is fight I am going to fight and win.

Earlier today I was talking to one survivor who was nearly married off at 13 and below is what she said about how girls are chosen as brides in the Marange sect. “

1. So during the Pasika, the Priest chooses a wife or wives. Young girls will go to the priest’s house, help with the cleaning and washing. He will choose a wife. Ages 11 to 15 years old most times(Once went there with my cousin, we were around that age)

2. Dhepa / Virginity testing We would go for virginity testing during Pasika with the old women. Somewhere near the river. Escorted by the prophet. We would lie down and they check our private parts. All girls from 9 years old.

Virgins will be given a full leaf Non virgins a broken leaf. We would go back to the church grounds, sit , crowd gathered where people would be celebrating the virgins and mock the non virgins. The former would mostly get a man as 2nd or 3rd or 8th wife.

Not 1st because she is nolonger a virgin Virgins too would be chosen by anyone who wants. It would be the joy of the parents kuti mwana akatiziswa kupasika There is no lobola, madhara vanongomwa tea vese vowirirana zvavharana

In some cases parents wont even be aware mwana anongotiziswa vasingazivi, tricked like in my case dhara rakanyepera baba wangu, got address and wanted to just take me , make me a wife and my parents would know ndatova nenhumbu.

So there are cases like that. Problem kuti because its church and its allowed, parents will just accept and move on. Because of this setup, many Mapositori are poor.

There wld be 5 wives, 20 kids they cant afford, so they marry off the girls.” Imagine this is happening under our watch yet we purport to be advocates of women’s rights. There is no religion that is above the law. It is time tht every other woman who purports to be a woman’s rights defender starts to show her real teeth and start biting.

The girl child has been abused enough and enough is enough. • We will not be silent whilst a girl child’s self determination is denied by a religious system which is oppressive and manipulative. • We will not be silent when law enforcers are turning a blind eye to the thousands of cases of child abuse in Marange. •

We will not be silent when women are subjected to unbearable pain during labour on the name of religion. • We will not be silent when government pretends not to know the realities on the ground in Marange. • We will not be silent until the girl child is respected, given equal opportunity to education and lives as an equal person to the boys of this land.

I demand justice for Memory Machaya’s death and every other girl in Marange who is underage, married and pregnant. I call upon all the mother’s in Zimbabwe to stand with this worthy cause in our quest to protect the girl child.

Tomorrow I will highlight my recommendations to all various stakeholders. Lastly we need an honest dialogue as women with the President of this country pertaining to the issue of protection of the girl child.

United we stand Divided we fall.

Mapostori Reveal Covid-19 Vaccination Conditions

By A Correspondent- Members of the apostolic sect have said they were ready to be vaccinated against COVID-19, but the government should bring the programme right at the shrines to speed up the process.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Marondera herd immunity pro-vaccine campaign to be officially launched today, Johanne Masowe Echishanu (Jerusarema Bethsaida) leader Echoes Chiore said the sect members were ready for the COVID-19 vaccine.

“We are more than ready as Vapostori,” Chiore said. “We are even appealing to the authorities to bring the programme right to the shrines so that we capture all. We are in support of the vaccination programme.”

Chiore, popularly known as Madzibaba Echoes, leads one of the biggest apostolic sects in the country while Zanu-PF stalwart Lawrence Katsiru leads another.

The Marondera COVID-19 vaccination programme was initiated by businesses and residents running under the hashtag #MaronderaForHerdImmunityYesWeCan#.

Meanwhile, the campaign has received a major boost after the police, government and big companies rendered massive support.

Some of the big corporates supporting the initiative include Proton Bakeries, Nyaradzo and Doves Funeral Assurance and Marondera Municipality, among others.

Government through the Health ministry is expected to increase vaccination points today especially in the CBD and main bus terminus.

The COVID-19 campaign leader Emmanuel Danha applauded government and stakeholders for supporting the initiative towards achieving herd immunity in the farming town.

“We are going to officially launch the pro-vaccine campaign tomorrow (today) with a simple road show and processions. We started off using social media platforms and it paid off. We applaud all stakeholders, especially the government and the corporate world for coming forward so that we collectively fight this virus.

“The most important and interesting thing is that we have been assured of vaccine availability and we are expecting to double the number of those already vaccinated in no time,” he said. Marondera district, one of the hotspots in the country, is expected to vaccinate at least 122 000 people to achieve herd immunity.

Man Kills Grandfather Over Witchcraft

By A Correspondent- Villagers of Kandeya in Mount Darwin were on Monday shocked after an 82-year-old man was fatally struck with an axe handle by his 27-year-old grandson over allegations of witchcraft.

Owen Kudzai Kutika was dragged to Bindura Magistrates’ Courts yesterday charged with murder.

Kutika appeared before magistrate Samantha Dhlamini and was not asked to plead to a murder charge. He was remanded in custody to August 27.

Prosecutor Edward Katsvairo alleged that on August 2 at Bruton Farm, Mount Darwin, Kutika accused his grandfather of bewitching him.

The now-deceased, who stayed alone at Kandeya village, went to his house and around 7pm, the incensed Kutika pounced on him with a wooden axe handle.

He struck him twice on the left shoulder. He tried to escape, but the charged Kutika pursued him and ordered him to give his last prayer before fatally striking him several times on the head. Tsikiso was severely injured on the occiput and he died on the spot.

12 Million Views: The Most Watched Zimbabwean Video In Human History Exposes Chinese Cruelty.

The most watched online Zimbabwean footage in known history is a ZimEye video showing oppression of black workers by a Chinese company in Norton.

Simba Chikanza interview with the Chinese ambassador (video at bottom of article).

This came as ZimEye’s Simba Chikanza from 2019 pushed to interview Chinese President Xi Jinping, and the Asian country’s deputy ambassador had made an initial response on the thorny subject of the country’s alleged colonisation of Zimbabwe and the rest of Africa. This was following an exclusive expose’ by ZimEye on the paying of black workers in coins, by a Norton based Chinese company (video below- 12 million views to date. The footage has remained the most viewed video in Zimbabwean history (online). VIDEO:

(Readers please note that ambassador Zhao had asked to have this interview briefer kept out of the public eye as he threatened saying its disclosure would amount to what he termed a breaking of journalism rules.)

ZimEye however released byit for both public safety as well as legal reasons seeing the ongoing COVID-19 health risks that have seen Chinese visitors (potentially infected with coronavirus) being unleashed into the community without medical safety procedures such as quarantining. Another worry is the death of the first nearly 200 people in March 2020 from what the government claimed was malaria, one of which is of a 7 year old COVID female patient of whom the state instructed doctors to certify as of malaria.

Furthermore the embassy was given ample time since Sunday evening.

“….do we do it by force? Do we come here to take over the land? Do we kill people? Okay? Anyway, I think you should have your standards to make the judgement.”

ZB: – “Do you know how Zimbabwe is colonised?”

SC – Errm, are you saying is colonised or was colonised?

ZB: – “Errm, I mean do you know how Zimbabwe was colonised by the UK or by the Rhodes’ forces?”

SC – Oh, that was by force, that was definitely by both force and coercion. So it was a combination of force.

ZB: – “They killed. A lot of Zimbabweans were killed, and in the first Chimurenga, right? And, so I have several standards to judge whether it is colonisation or not, first do we do it by force? Do we come here to take over the land? Do we kill people? Okay? Anyway, I think you should have your standards to make the judgement, anyway, so we can set another date.”

TRANSCRIPT BRIEF WITH CHINESE AMBASSADOR ZHAO BAOGANG

Simba Chikanza (SC) with ambassador Zhao Baogang (ZB) at 6pm

SC – My interview with President Xi Jinping seeks to look into the future and the welfare of both Zimbabwean and Chinese citizens, locally and internationally.
SC – Are you happy with the general treatment of Chinese citizens by the government of Zimbabwe? I am looking into the future of both Zimbabweans and Chinese people, as currently Chinese citizens are being allowed into the country while locals are subjected to mandatory quarantining.

SC – Do the Self quarantine luxuries currently guaranteed Chinese citizens by the Zim govt, not create a looming-disaster against both the people and the government of China in the future?

ZB: – “Can we do it this way, you can send me a list of questions then I will think about it, then we could have some appointment, then we answer your questions, is that okay?”

SC – How much in value are the repayable loans that China has given Zimbabwe since the 2017 coup?

ZB: – “You can write down the questions and if I am in a position to answer the questions I will answer you then you have to check with others, that would be the most appropriate thing to do.

SC – Is China colonising Zimbabwe and Africa at large?

ZB: – “Eh, I think, all these are noted, and then I will think about it and how to answer your question. And do you know what is colonisation?”

SC – Colonisation is the takeover of a country by a foreign government whether that is done by force or done by coercion.

SC – There is also one which comes from a group of our community that is interested in wildlife and tourism. They are asking about – What measures President Jinping has taken to stop illegal trade of Wild animals between China and Zimbabwe. And amid allegations that the Chinese government is involved in this illegal trade.

ZB: – “It is already, no trade in wildlife between Zimbabwe and China now, no wildlife trade. So then anyway, you can send me the list of questions and we can set another date for the interview. Okay?

MDC Alliance Youth Assembly Concerned About Increase In Girl Child Abuse

ZANU PF Silence On Rape And Child Marriages Suspicious

Drama As Cop Flees “Botched” Robbery

By A Correspondent- A Gwanda man is lucky to be alive after being shot once by a suspected police officer in Gwanda at Cobra West Mine on Friday morning.

Vumani Moyo was shot once on the hip by an unidentified person clad in police uniform before fleeing and leaving the rifle behind.

According to a police memo seen by this publication, the accused disembarked from commuter omnibus silver in color and tried to arrest the owner of the mine, Thandiwe Moyo.

It is further stated that other workers tried to intervene resulting in the “police” firing and injuring Vumani before fleeing the scene living the rifle behind.

“An unknown male accused person clad in police uniform in possession of a rifle disembarked from the vehicle and called the informant who was at the hammer mill with some of her employees. The informant went close to the accused person who asked her what was happening at the mine. The informant told the accused person that that they were milling their gold ore. The accused person informed the informant that she was under arrest and he handcuffed her.

“This did not go down well with the informant’s employees who queried the arrest asking what the informant had done wrong. A misunderstanding between the accused person and the informant’s employees arose which led to the accused person firing one shot which hit Vumani Moyo,” read part of the police memo.

Police sources claimed that initial investigations revealed that the rifle, an AK 47 serial number ZRP2004 with 29 rounds and one used cartridge belonged to the ZRP. Efforts to get a comment from Police spokesperson Ass Comm Paul Nyathi were fruitless.

Cases of armed robberies are on the rise in the country with robbers mainly targeting mines and shops.

“IExpected Apologies From Mugabe Ministers”: Activist

By A Correspondent- United States-based MDC Alliance activist, Freeman Chari has said he expected apologies from ministers in the cabinet of the late former president Robert Gabriel Mugabe for the “wrongs” during their tenure of office but “none” of them apologised.

Mugabe presided over a deepening economic crisis in Zimbabwe, where the majority lived in abject poverty.

The gradual collapse of the economy is attributed to corruption and poor policies. The government blamed sanctions imposed by the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union and their allies at the turn of the millennium for alleged human rights abuses.

Chari said he thought the ministers in the Mugabe regime should have apologised for their contribution to the demise of the economy. He said:

I have been waiting for these former Mugabe ministers to just sincerely say… “I am sorry for the things I did or enabled under my watch. I will never do it again”. Nop, they are all clean!

I will keep reminding myself and others that we might have fallen on the same side but we probably do not have much in common. They had disdain for us, they were willing to exterminate us. Have we become so attractive to be worth of camaraderie or we are just convenient…?

Of all the ministers who were appointed by Mugabe between 1980 and 2017, Dr Nkosana Moyo is the only one who resigned, in 2001, citing differences between him and Mugabe.

Most, if not all, of the ministers during the Mugabe era were accused of engaging in underhand dealings at the expense of national development.

Some analysts argue that there is n difference between Mugabe’s cabinets and that of his successor, President Emmerson Mnangagwa while some say the latter is worse as far as corruption is concerned.

They say Mnangagwa has only paid lip service to fight corruption adding that his anti-corruption institutions – the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission and the Special Anti-Corruption Unit – are toothless

Professors Blast ED’s Biography As A Collection Of Lies

By A Correspondent |Former Movement for Democratic Change Change official Eddie Cross shocked all and sundry after penning Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa’s biography.

Prominent academics have described the biography as a collection of lies.

The book, launched on Thursday, attempts to portray Mnangagwa as a political saint.

Professor of History, Sabelo Ndlovu-Gatsheni has described the book as a “a glut of hagiographies masquerading as biographies.”

University of Oxford professor Miles Tendi argued:

Of historical falsehoods and silences:

  1. ED was not a member of the Crocodile Gang.
  2. Silence on the 1980’s Gukurahundi.
  3. Silence on the DRC War.
  4. Silence on the death of Solomon Mujuru.
  5. The 2017 military coup is referred to as a “military assisted transition”.

Inmates Hauled To Court Over Sodomy

By A Correspondent- Two prison inmates who have been serving their sentences at Khami Maximum Prison have been dragged to court after they anally rap_ed a fellow prisoner causing him to have sores on his behind.

It is alleged that while the 38-year-old victim was sleeping in his cell, Culture Sibanda got into his blanket and started to care_ss his testi_cles while rubbing his manhood against his thighs.

The violated man tried to push him away, but he threatened to crush his testi_cles if he resisted his se_xual advances, the court heard.

Fearing for his jewels, the inmate calmed down, Culture then allegedly anally assaulted him and sternly warned him not to reveal to anyone about the sod0my incident.

On the following day another inmate tiptoed into the same victim’s blankets and threatened to kill him if he screamed. He forced him to bend and anally assaulted him, the court heard.

After two days when the abused man was relieving himself in the toilet he felt pain from his “behind” and he noticed that he passed blood-stained stools.

He reported the matter to prison officer Godwin Mahlathini who escorted him to a police station where he made a police report.

Thulani and Culture appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja facing a sodomy charge.

Mnjanja remanded them in custody to 11 August.

Anti Corruption Commission Blasts “Sleeping” Govt Ministries

corruption

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) yesterday exposed massive looting by senior government officials and parastatal bosses, accusing line ministries tasked with playing an oversight role of “sleeping on duty”.

Zacc chairperson Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo told a virtual annual general meeting (AGM) that corruption was rife in government, parastatals and other entities.

She said a probe would soon be instituted to “fish out” those involved in graft.

“As a result of these compliance checks, as Zacc, we have noted that ministries that have an oversight role on State enterprises and parastatals are a cause for concern,” she said.

“Equally, companies run by majority shareholders or family businesses are of serious concern in terms of their adherence to corporate governance principles.”

Successive reports by Auditor-General Mildred Chiri have implicated government ministries and State enterprises in massive corruption that has prejudiced the country of billions.

Matanda-Moyo said the government should urgently review powers of ministries over State enterprises and parastatals under their watch.

“The government needs to urgently review the powers of ministries over State enterprises and parastatals under their purview to stem this culture of looting,” she said.

“It is our wish as Zacc that legislation amendments be made to the Anti-Corruption Commission Act to provide sanctions for non-compliance. It is not a secret that corruption in Zimbabwe is rampant in all sectors of our economy; that is, in government, State enterprises and parastatals, NGOs (non-governmental organisations) and the private sector. In 2019, Zimbabwe was ranked 159/180 on the Corruption Perception Index. Thus, we set ourselves some tough hurdles and challenging targets.”

Matanda-Moyo said Chiri’s reports had given the commission a starting point to deal with corrupt officials in ministries and parastatals.

“We received reports of the Auditor-General of Zimbabwe, tabled in Parliament. The contents of the reports gave rise to reasonable suspicion of incidents of either corruption, theft, misappropriation, abuse of power and/or other improper conduct in the public sector,” Matanda-Moyo said.

“In the circumstances and on the basis of the report of the Auditor-General of Zimbabwe, Zacc opened active investigations in respect of all ministries, government departments and State enterprises implicated in the report with a view of bringing to book all those implicated in any and all acts of corruption, theft, misappropriation, abuse of power and other improper conduct.”

On allegations that the financial books of Zacc itself were in a shambles, Matanda-Moyo said: “When the commission took office, we found that the previous financial statements from 2012 had not been done and neither were they audited.”

Matanda-Moyo said in 2019, Zimbabwe was ranked 159/180 on the Corruption Perception Index prompting them to set some targets to reduce corruption.

“I am delighted to report that we met these targets and indeed, in several areas, we exceeded them,” she said.

“These results were achieved despite some major challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and resistance and interference from some individuals in offices of high authority.  This makes the performance even more pleasing.”

The Zacc chairperson said they have stepped up efforts to curb corruption in line with calls to fight the vice.

“To date, Zacc has received a total of 157 high-profile cases and has investigated 76. Zacc engaged the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) who provided experienced staff to boost investigations,” she said.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has repeatedly threatened to weed out corruption and established an anti-graft unit in his office, the Special Anti-Corruption Unit (Sacu) headed by Thabani Vusa Mpofu to show his resolve to fight the scourge.

But Sacu has been accused of corruption and pursuing a political agenda to persecute Mnangagwa’s political foes.

Both Zacc and Sacu have also been accused of targeting small fish, leaving out government ministers and bosses to public entities who were the main culprits.

While the government claims sanctions imposed on the country by the West over two decades ago were the cause of the economic downturn, observers, who include Western embassies, say corruption was at the centre of the deteriorating economic situation.

Duo Abduct, Rape Man With Autism

By A Correspondent- In a real-life shocking case of forced penetration, two Bulawayo women allegedly ‘abducted and gang-rap_ed’ a 31 year old man with autism.

Autism is a serious developmental disorder that impairs the ability to communicate and interact.

The alleged perpetrators Buhlebenkosi Mpofu (24) from Matsheumhlope suburb and her accomplice only identified as Samantha, who is reportedly on the run, allegedly took turns to se_xually exploit the man, whose name is being withheld for legal reasons, after holding him captive at a house in the city.

After “rap_ing” the victim, who stays in Hillside suburb, they reportedly searched him and took away his wallet containing $550 and US$3.

Allegations against Buhlebenkosi and her accomplice are that on 22 July 2021 and at around 6pm they approached the victim who was waiting for transport along Robert Mugabe Way and 13th Avenue.

It is reported that when they reached him, they forcibly got hold of him by his hands and quickly dragged him to a house opposite where he was standing and forced him into one of the rooms.

While in the room they undressed the victim and pushed him onto the bed where they started caressing him and fondling his manhood.

Seeing that his magic stick was now ready for the adult game they then took turns to have se_xual intercourse with him. After the act they reportedly searched him and took away his wallet containing $550 and US$3.

The seemingly traumatised victim was later rescued by a passerby, who later accompanied him to his home, where they found his mother, who had been patiently waiting for him outside the gate.

The victim narrated the ordeal to his mother, who then went and reported the matter at Bulawayo Central Police station.

Investigations by the police led to the arrest of Buhlebenkosi. Buhlebenkosi has since appeared in court before Bulawayo magistrate Stephen Ndhlovu charged with two counts of theft and aggravated indecent assault. She was not asked to plead to both counts and was remanded in custody to 13 August 2021.

Faith Healer, Hubby In Soup For Burying Infant Hours After Death

By A Correspondent- A self-proclaimed prophet and her husband have landed themselves in trouble following the mysterious death of an infant at their hands.

The faith healer and her husband are alleged to have tried to cover up the child’s death by burying her within one hour without notifying the authorities. The strange incident occured in Harare’s Zimre Park suburb.

According to national broadcaster ZBC News, the faith healer and her husband are the paternal grandparents of the deceased child. The husband is employed at Zimre Park Secondary School as a security guard.

The now-deceased child is reported to not have been feeling well. The grandmother who is a known faith healer is reported to have tried to perform some rituals to heal the child. However, the rituals did not go as planned and the infant died.

The couple is reported to have connived to cover up the murder. Barely an hour after the baby died, the grandparents took the body to a nearby riverbank. Under cover of darkness, the grandfather dug a grave on the riverbank before burying the infant’s body. The grandparents were assisted by two other people in the burial.

However, the bursar and the caretaker at the school saw that something was amiss. They followed the developments from a distance and suspected that their colleague and his wife may have buried the child on the riverbank. Both the bursar and the caretaker were able to pinpoint the spot of the suspected burial.

The couple and two other people were later arrested after a police report was filed. The prophet apologised for her actions and claimed that they had acted out of ignorance. She went on to say that she thought people in towns also follow the same cultural rites practised in the rural areas.

According to national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the incident occured in June and four people have since been picked up by the police in connection with the case. They face charges under the Births And Deaths Registration Act (Chapter 5:02)

Woman Arrested For Turning Down Cop’s Se_xual Advances Acquitted

By A Correspondent- A Rusape woman is finally free after she was found not guilty of trumped-up charges filed against her by a spiteful police officer whose sexual advances she had turned down.

27-year-old Nomatter Chikunguru was arrested on 9 April by some ZRP officers who include Constable Brian Kasu. She was arrested at around 11 PM as she was heading home from work. Chikunguru works at Rusape General Hospital, where she is employed as a mortician by Heritage Funeral Parlour.

The police officers charged her with assaulting or resisting a peace officer as defined in section 176 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

She was accused of refusing to be apprehended by shouting and throwing stones at Constable Brian Kasu and assaulting him. Kasu was part of the unit which was enforcing Covid-19 lockdown restrictions. Other members of the unit included Assistant Inspector Chisenye, Assistant Inspector Dhambu, Constable Muza, Constable Makwarimba and Constable Masuka among others.

During her trial before Rusape Magistrate Rufaro Mangwiro, prosecutors alleged that Chikunguru acted unlawfully by refusing to be arrested. The prosecutors further alleged that she shouted and threw stones at Constable Kasu and assaulted him when police officers who were on night patrol raided a bottle store at Mabvazuva Shopping Centre.

Chikunguru, prosecutors said, was caught by a police dog as ZRP officers were reportedly trying to disperse a riotous “mob”.

The 27 year old woman denied the charges. She alleged that she was the victim in this case and that she was ill-treated by Kasu after she spurned his sexual advances. She further alleged that some police officers had refused to assist her to report a case against Constable Kasu.

After the police allegedly refused to assist her, Chikunguru was forced to engage the services of a lawyer. She was represented by Peggy Tavagadza of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.

Tavagadza argued that the charges levelled against her client were a fabrication to cover up for the abuse of power and brutality by the police officer.

Following a full trial, the magistrate acquitted Chikunguru and dismissed all the charges against her.

Mash Central Man Axes Grany Over Witchcraft Claims

By A Correspondent- A 27-year-old Mount Darwin man has exed to death his 82-year-old grandfather over witchcraft.

“The Solid Plans Of Rigging Elections Is Sickening”

By Wilbert Mukori- The right to free, fair and credible elections, the right to a meaningful say in the governance of one’s country is the mother of all rights because it is the guarantor of good governance and of all the other rights.

It is therefore shameful that 41 years after our independence and the benefit of 21st century human civilization we still fail to deliver free, fair and credible elections.

We started on the first footing by demanding “One man, one vote!” It is most disheartening how easily the nation has been blown off course!

Nothing, absolutely nothing, epitomised the white colonial oppression and exploitation of the black more than the denial of all blacks of a meaningful say in the governance of the country. The whites were the foreigners in someone else’s land, and they had the chic of denying the indigenous blacks a meaningful say in their own land. It is little wonder therefore that rancorous “One man, one vote!” struck a raw nerve and was answered with great passion by the blacks.

Sadly, the country’s black nationalist leaders, the late Robert Mugabe and now also late Dr Joshua Nkomo and their respective political parties, Zanu PF and PF Zapu, wanted to take over from the whites and become the country’s new supreme rulers. They wanted Zimbabwe to be a one-party state knowing fully well the move would deny the ordinary Zimbabweans their long cherished “One man, one vote!”

All attempts to unite Zanu PF and PF Zapu, the two main parties that waged the war of independence, have come to naught because the two could not agree on how the spoils of power would be shared out.

At the Lancaster House talks, the negotiations to usher independence, both Mugabe and Nkomo signed on to the multi-party democratic constitution. Mugabe was not bothered the country’s first election would not be not free, fair and credible.

Robert Mugabe and company’s 1980 election campaign message was simple enough: “If Zanu PF loses the election, the bush war will continue!”

Of course, the people voted to end the bush war; it is unwise to argue looking up the business end of an AK47 rifle. Once in power Mugabe started to systematically corrupt and state institutions such as the Judiciary, Police, Public Media, turning them into Zanu PF departments in all but name whose primary purpose was to keep Zanu PF in power at all costs.

The 1983 to 1987 Gukurahundi massacre gave Mugabe the excuse to crash his main political rivals Joshua Nkomo and his PF Zapu forcing them to sign the December 1987 Unity Accord and clearing the way for imposition of a de facto Zanu PF, one-party dictatorship.

To consolidate their iron grip on power, Zanu PF leaders have ridded roughshod over the people, denying them the basic freedoms and rights including the right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country and even the right to life! The country’s once robust economy took a nosedive because of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption under Zanu PF misrule. The nation was helpless to stop the rot because Zanu PF’s dictatorial powers included carte blanche powers to rig the elections.

It took Zimbabwe a decade and a half for a national consensus to finally emerged; for the country to end the economic decline and restore the individual freedoms and rights, the nation will need democratic changes designed to end Zanu PF’s dictatorial powers.

Morgan Tsvangirai and friends launched their Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) in 1999 as the party that will deliver the democratic changes the nation was dying for. In the last 21 years the people of Zimbabwe have once again risked, personal comfort, property, limb and life to elect MDC leaders into political office just as the blacks had risked all in pursuit of “One man, one vote!” Little did they know that Tsvangirai and company would betray them as readily as Mugabe and company had done!

Tsvangirai and company’s golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms, dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship and deliver all the individual freedoms and individual rights including the right to free, fair and credible elections was during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Mugabe: who naturally, did not want his super-duper dictatorial powers taken away; bribed the MDC leaders with the trapping of high office, and with their snouts in the feeding trough they forgot about implementing the reforms.

There is much, much more to why MDC leaders failed to implement even one democratic reform in five years of the GNU. Yes, Mugabe could bribe some of the MDC leaders but surely not all of them, there were over 110 MDC MPs alone in the GNU, and to silence them all for five years!

It turns out that Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends had never believed in the right to free, fair and credible election as the fountain of good governance, just as Mugabe and company had paid lip-service to “One man, one vote!” Tsvangirai and company had no regrets failing to implement even one reform during the GNU because they were super confident MDC would win the elections even if Zanu PF retained its carte blanche powers to rig the elections.

SADC leaders, who had been instrumental in getting Mugabe to agree to the formation of the GNU and the need for implementing the raft of democratic reforms, tried to have the 2013 elections postponed until reforms were implemented. “If you go into the elections next month,” they told Tsvangirai and company, “you will lose; the elections are done!”

As we know, MDC leaders ignored the regional leaders’ warning and participated in the flawed and illegal elections, so flawed Zanu PF’s victory was obvious long before the ballots were cast and hence the reason SADC leaders had said “elections are done”. By participating in the flawed and illegal elections MDC and their supporters had given credibility to the process and legitimacy to the results.

Buyer beware or “Caveat emptor!” is a universally accepted principle and it is just as relevant in buying goods and services as in electing leaders into public office!

Ever since the 2008 to 2013 GNU, Zanu PF leaders have learned that they can continue to blatant rig the elections and never have to worry about political legitimacy as long as the party allowed the opposition to win a few gravy-train seats.

The initial reaction of Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends to the blatant vote rigging by Zanu PF in the 2013 elections was to pass a 2014 party resolution not to participate in no future elections until all the reforms to guarantee free, fair and credible elections are implemented. “No reform, no elections!” MDC announced.

Mugabe and company completely ignored MDC’s demands for reforms, he knew MDC leaders will participate in the 2018 elections with no reforms in place; greed for the few gravy-train seats will trump party resolution and logic.

It is laughable some of the foolish ideas MDC leaders have come up with to justify why they are participating in elections process that are so flawed the elections “are done” long before the first ballots are cast. Morgan Tsvangirai’s big idea guaranteed to win rigged elections was to unite the opposition.

“Make no mistake about it; you the people under the banner of the MDC Alliance will resoundingly win the next election. We appeal to the region and to the world to stand by the people of this country as they navigate these dicey moments under a brutal regime,” announced Morgan Tsvangirai when he launched the MDC A on 5 August 2016.

“Congratulations Zimbabwe for endorsing this huge alliance as it marches to a resounding victory. We heard you and we have heeded your call.”

Nelson Chamisa, Morgan Tsvangirai’s successor as leader of MDC A embraced the opposition party coalition as the panacea to the nation’s need for meaningful economic and political change. He too heeded to the calls for opposition unity whilst ignoring the rational voices demanding the implementation of the democratic reforms BEFORE elections.

Once again, Zanu PF went on to blatantly rig the 2018 elections; it was Zanu PF, not MDC A, that had “a resounding victory”! And, thanks to MDC A’s participation, Zanu PF had the political legitimacy.

Two weeks ago, Nelson Chamisa announced on twitter that MDC A had “a SOLID PLAN that will bring real change in Zimbabwe”! (the emphasis on solid plan, is his not mine)

He said he was not going to reveal any details of his solid plan for obvious reasons – Zanu PF will steal them! Still there are a few things one can be certain of; first and foremost, since not even one token reform has been implemented since the last elections, the solid plan will be yet another attempt to win rigged elections.

In June Patrick Chinamasa, Zanu PF’s Acting National Political Commissar, announce that Zanu PF will not acquiesce to granting 3 to 5 million Zimbabweans in the diaspora the vote, Mnangagwa himself had conceded to this demand in September 2018. A candidate can be declared the winner if he/she polled one vote more than the other(s) underlining the importance of every vote. What more 3 million votes, especially when Mnangagwa was declared the winner in 2018 with a total of 2.4 million votes!

By denying 3 million plus Zimbabweans in the diaspora the vote, Zanu PF is rigging the 2023 elections in advance, the elections are done! There is absolutely nothing Chamisa’s SOLID PLAN can do stop the rigging, with two years to the election it is too late to have Zimbabweans in diaspora on the voters’ roll.

And by participating in the 2023 elections regardless of reality the election is already done, MDC A and their supporters will once again give credibility to the flawed and illegal process and legitimacy to the result!

We have now all but abandoned “One man, one vote!”, free and fair elections, in favour “solid plans” to win rigged, done and dusted, elections! The sheer stupidity of it all is nauseating!

It is obvious why SADC leaders have all but washed their hands clean of Zimbabwe’s mess and the international community has all but abandoned Zimbabwe to stew in its own endless disasters. Zimbabweans have shown that there are not serious about ending the country’s curse of rigged elections and bad governance and why should outsiders mourn louder than bereaved!

It is heart breaking that Zimbabwe is sinking deeper and deeper into economic poverty and political chaos because, as a nation, we have failed to grasp the concept of “One man, one vote!” and apply it for our own benefit, our children and posterity. Well, until we learn; we will remain in our own man-made hell-on-earth for there is no escape.

Chinese Company Named In US$100 Million Water Tender Scandal

By A Correspondent- A Chinese company China Nanchang was controversially awarded a US$109 million water tender by the has been named in the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) for the construction of Kunzvi Dam, despite the existence of a lower bid.

Another Chinese company, SinoHydro’s bid, which was rejected, amounted to US$66 million, giving a staggering US$43 million variation which has raised eyebrows.

A total of 11 companies were vying for the lucrative tender to construct the long-awaited water reservoir touted as the lasting solution to Harare’s water woes.

The contractor will work on a build, operate and transfer basis.

It emerged this week that China Nanchang’s winning bid was one of the highest.

China Nanchang’s bid is also higher than that of JR Godart (US$83 million), China Jiangxi (US$78 million) and R Davis (US$99 million).

SinoHydro had the biggest profile of the 11 entities, having previously successfully undertaken the expansion of the Kariba South Power Plant and is also on course to finish the expansion of the Hwange Thermal Power Plant.

It also won the tender for the establishment of the Batoka Gorge Hydro Power Plant to be shared between Zimbabwe and Zambia.

The other firms, which submitted bids higher than China Nanchang include Bitcoin and Kuch Construction (US$142 million) and Draw Card (US$109 million).

Documents seen by the Zimbabwe Independent this week show that SinoHydro, in a joint venture partnership with locally-owned Marmfold, submitted a bid worth US$65 523 463,61, while China Nanchang submitted a tender proposal valued at US$108 885 000.

According to the documents, on the affordability score, SinoHydro’s bid was ranked number 1 while China Nachang’s costly bid was ranked number 5.

The highest bid was submitted by Exodus and Company, valued at US$197 130 196,38, followed by a proposal by Nyagui Construction, which wanted to construct the dam at a cost of US$149 447 353,88.

Locally-owned firm, Masimba was ranked number 8 with its US$140 191 249,41 bid, while Multi Force Construction ended the race at number 7 with a US$121 286 896,77 proposal.

Upon losing the bid, which official sources allege was irregularly awarded to China Nanchang, SinoHydro wrote to Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Resettlement minister Anxious Masuka complaining about how the tendering process was handled.

In the letter of complaint, SinoHydro accused Zinwa of flouting tender procedures.

“Zinwa has officially noticed that the Kunzvi Dam project was awarded to China Nanchang at the price of US$108 247 807,50, which is around US$43 million higher than the lowest bidder price. So as the lowest bidder, SinoHydro herewith appeals to you against the unfair decision. SinoHydro submitted its bid at the most competitive technical proposal at the lowest price of US$65 523 463,61 which evidently must have won the bid,” SinoHydro wrote.

Official sources told the Independent this week that SinoHydro has since escalated its grievances to the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) as well as Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga, seeking annulment of the tendering process.

At the time of going to print, as understood by the Independent, the OPC was probing the allegations.

Prior to SinoHydro registering its complaint, Zinwa’s chief executive officer Taurai Maurikira had on Tuesday, written to the company disclosing the results of the tender process which was awarded to China Nanchang.

“The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa), has, in terms of Section 55(1)(a), of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Act, awarded the tender for the construction of Kunzvi Dam to China Nanchang P/L at the cost of US$108 247 807,50,” Maurikira wrote.

“Accordingly, be advised that your bid relating to the above was unsuccessful. You also stand guided through Section 67 of the Public Procurement and Disposal Act (PPDA). We thank you for showing interest in our tender, and it is my hope you will receive a positive outcome,” the letter reads.

SinoHydro also described the tender award as not just unfair, but illegal.

“We haven’t been clearly informed of the reason why our bid was rejected by Zinwa. In addition, hardly can we understand the reason why government decided to spend US$43 million more in the infrastructure project which is to benefit people’s livelihoods,” the letter further reads. “Besides, the tendering procedure is also illegal and not fair. At our own expense, we have conducted the supplemental investigation, core collection and various experiments relating to Kunzvi Dam which plays a vital role in water supply to the capital city, Harare.”

Approached for comment, Maurikira said: “The tender process is only over 14 days after the announcement of the winner. The 14-day window is given for any other submissions/complaints from losing bidders. After the 14-day window is over, then the process is deemed to be over should there be no issues raised. Where issues are raised, these are then dealt with. That’s the process for all tenders according to PRAZ (Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe).

“We are still within the 14-day period to give room for possible challenges to the award. I am of the opinion that answering these questions may compromise due process. I am comfortable to answer these questions after the 14-day window which expires on the 24th of August.”

Sources close to the tender told the Independent that SinoHydro was “disappointed by the decision made by the government” and was in the process of preparing an appeal at the Administrative Court.

“It is clear that considering a price variation of US$43 million separating the bid of Nanchang and SinoHydro, SinoHydro will seek legal recourse. A poor nation like Zimbabwe cannot afford to pay over US$43 million much more than the cheapest bid at a time government is struggling to source vaccines for its citizens. It’s clear, some people were corrupted,” a source said.

Contacted for comment yesterday, Masuka said he was not aware of the developments.

“I have not been made aware of those issues,” he said, promising to check.

Financial documents show that SinoHydro from 2015 injected US$3 million in preparatory work ahead of the submission of their bid to the government to take up the mega Kunzvi Dam project.

Since Independence in 1980, the construction and completion of the dam have been touted as a solution to Harare’s perennial water shortages and a key enabler to the country’s evolving agriculture sector.

But over the same time, the promising project has failed to take off due to protracted negotiations between the government and potential suitors.

Chiwenga Shivers As Delta Variant Plagues Harare

By A Correspondent- Clueless Vice President and Health minister Government Constantino Chiwenga, is in a panic mode following reports that 98 per cent of Covid-19 tests conducted in Harare lately have been linked to the deadlier Delta strain.

“A genomic sequencing for COVID-19 samples collected in Harare revealed that 98% of the samples were of the Delta variant,” Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa announced early this week.

Mutsvangwa said the national genomic sequencing survey was also being conducted.

The Delta variant which originated from India is responsible for massive deaths that battered the populous Asian country before spreading to the rest of the world.

The variant is more transmissible and deathlier than the first variants of the world pandemic.

The government further reports that as of 2 August 2021, Zimbabwe’s cumulative Covid-19 cases stood at 110 855, with 79 420 recoveries and 3 635 deaths.

Harare Metropolitan Province has the most number of new infections sitting on 2 361 during the week ending 27 July 2021, to 11 652 in week ending 2 August 2021.

Mashonaland East Province had 1 523, Mashonaland West Province (1 136), Manicaland Province (1 361) and Masvingo Province (1 106).
The recovery rate stands at 72%, with 98% of Covid-19-positive cases being attributable to local transmission. The number of active cases stands at 27 800.

There was a slight decrease in weekly cases from 14 275 during the week under review.

In a bid to arrests fatalities linked to the dreaded disease, the government has ramped up its vaccination drive with a total of 1 674 710 people had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 798 880 their second dose across the country.

The government says some 2 500 000 doses of vaccine are set to be acquired through direct purchase in August 2021, while a further 3 500 000 doses will be received during the month of September 2021 under the COVAX facility.

Community Service For Paedophile. What Is Going On?

By A Correspondent- In a shocking development, a paedophile will only serve 315 hours of community service after he was convicted of having “sexual intercourse with a minor.”

24 year old Artwell Mathe from Masikili Village in the Chief Shana area near Victoria Falls was convicted of having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl on several occasions.

Mathe who is married, appeared before Victoria Falls resident magistrate Lindiwe Maphosa facing charges of having sexual intercourse with a minor.

During the trial, the court heard that the married paedophile proposed love to the minor in August 2019. The 14-year-old accepted the love proposal. The following month, Mathe convinced the minor to come to his home. After she came, he seduced her and the two were intimate. This happened on at least one other occasion.

The perverse affair was discovered when the minor’s mother stumbled upon Mathe groping the 14-year-old in the bush. She reported the matter to the police. This led to the arrest of the paedophile on charges of performing an indecent act with a young person. He was later charged with having sexual intercourse with a minor.

During the trial, Mathe tried to deny the charges, claiming that he was never intimate with the 14-year-old. However, he admitted that she had slept over at his house on several occasions. He claimed that even though the two slept in the same bedroom during the sleepovers, they were never intimate.

The paedophile insisted that he was merely protecting the minor. Mathe claimed that the minor was being abused at home and used to seek refuge at his home.

The 14-year-old also spoke up in defence of the paedophile. She begged the court to drop all the charges against Mathe, claiming that the two were in love.

Magistrate Maphosa, however, convicted Mathe on all counts. She said that the courts have a duty to send a message that such acts were not acceptable.

The online publication, the reports the magistrate as saying,

“This offence is relatively serious as it involves a young person, most of whom are still school going and need to focus on school and not to have their lives complicated by older people, who lure them into prematurely engaging in sexual activities.”

However, after saying all this, she sentenced Mathe to 15 months in prison. She suspended 6 months on the condition that Mathe does not commit a sexual offence in the next 5 years.

The remaining 9 months were wholly suspended on the condition that Mathe performs 315 hours of community service. She said that she had considered that Mathe was a first-time offender who was married with one child.

Mnangagwa Rewards 2008 Blood Elections Instigator

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has promoted a top soldier who instigated the 2008 blood elections David Sigauke to the new Zimbabwe National Army commander.

The violence instigator’s appointment follows the recent demise of Lieutenant-General Edzai Chimonyo who succumbed to cancer

The now Lieutenant General Sigauke’s appointment is with immediate effect.

Before his new appointment, Sigauke was a Major-General and the military Chief of Staff (General Staff).

He was promoted to Major General on 18 December 2017.

Sigauke in 2008 after the defeat of the then Zanu PF Presidential candidate, Robert Mugabe by Morgan Tsvangirai of the MDC, incited violence against the opposition supporters.

Six months before the 2008 elections, Sigauke was quoted in the media as having said, “As soldiers, we have the privilege to defend this task (of guaranteeing Mugabe and Zanu PF rule) on two fronts: the first being through the ballot box, and second being the use of the barrel of the gun should the worse come to the worst. I may therefore urge you as citizens of Zimbabwe to exercise your electoral right wisely in the forthcoming election in 2008, remembering that Zimbabwe shall never be a colony again.”

Shock As Python Is Dumped At Dumpsite

Python

By A Correspondent- Ushewekunze residents yesterday woke up to find a python stashed in a white sack near a dumpsite.

Although it could not be established how the snake had ended up in the sack, onlookers said children who were playing close by spotted the huge reptile inside the sack.

Another witness claimed a suspicious elderly man had been spotted walking around the same area whilst holding a similar object.

“I was on my way to the nearby shopping centre when I saw these children playing around the dump site.”

“Before I could tell them to move away, they took off claiming they had seen a snake from one of the sacks.

“When I moved closer I then saw the python in the sack trying to find its way out, it eventually came out and became stagnant at the dumpsite,” said the witness.

“The 5 suspects who were evading the tollgate and roadblock through a dust road fled from the scene. Investigations have established that the goats were stolen in Mutawatawa.”

Zinwa In US$100 Million Chinese Bogus Water Tender Scandal

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) is embroiled in a tender scandal after it controversially awarded a US$109 million tender to China Nanchang for the construction of Kunzvi Dam, despite the existence of a lower bid.

Police Intercept Honda Fit Loaded With 16 Stolen Goats

By A Correspondent- Police in Harare have intercepted a Honda Fit which was loaded with 16 live goats.

Mnangagwa Promotes Mugabe Hard-Liner

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has promoted a top late former Zimbabwe’s long time ruler, Robert Mugabe hardliner David Sigauke to the new Zimbabwe National Army commander.

Singauke’s appointment follows the recent demise of Lieutenant-General Edzai Chimonyo who succumbed to cancer

The now Lieutenant General Sigauke’s appointment is with immediate effect.

Prior to his new appointment, Sigauke was a Major-General and the military Chief of Staff (General Staff).

He was promoted to Major General on 18 December 2017.

Sigauke has a history as a politically meddlesome top soldier, having in 2008 been linked to threats on voters who rejected then President Robert Mugabe in the election.

He was one of the top officers in the army brass who were once hard-line defenders of former President Mugabe.

The first round of the poll was won by late former MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai who was later forced out of the run-off poll following an orgy of state-sponsored violence against his party’s structures.

Doctors Reap Off COVID-19 Patients

Some medical practitioners in collusion with private health facilities are reportedly reaping off COVID-19 patients by charging extortionate fees for treatment, a local daily has revealed.

This followed reports that some health institutions in Harare have adopted hefty pricing for COVID-19 treatment with patients alleging that they were paying through the nose to be attended to even for mild conditions.

As admission and treatment for COVID-19 overwhelms public hospitals which are full to capacity, desperate patients were opting for the private practice. But the price range is beyond many people’s wallets.

There was a flurry of accusations with patients saying these facilities were profiteering from the pandemic while owners defended their pricing regime, saying importing medication and equipment was expensive.

In a post that went viral yesterday, a couple visited an upmarket private health facility (name supplied) for treatment after the husband developed COVID-19 symptoms.

“At first, the nurse insisted on us making a decision which protocol we will be going for before even seeing the doctor. We asked to see the doctor first and finally we got the consult. After testing positive for antigen, he was told that there were two treatments being offered, protocol two and protocol three,” the aggrieved family wrote.

The family was put on protocol two which involved being put on a nebuliser and jet fuel/drip at a cost of US$475 and US$250 shortfall if on medical aid. Also under protocol two, one will need to buy a treatment kit which costs $150.

Thereafter, the patient will need to come in everyday for five days to be put on the nebuliser and drip. This they said cost $475 per day, and medical aid does not cover it.

The couple alleged that the centre refused to give them a prescription for the treatment kit so that they could buy elsewhere and they claimed they could not disclose what was in the kit.

“I pleaded with the doctor if she could just write a prescription as hubby has mild symptoms, but apparently they are not allowed to disclose what is in the prescription kit. What makes it worse is you are not allowed to pay using RTGS (Zimdollars) as according to them, the pills are imported,” wrote the wife in her post.

However, after payment, they discovered that the pills in the treatment kit that cost US$150 included Ivermectin, Omeprazole Prednisone, Zinc, Aspirin, Colchicine and Doxycycline.

A quick check in local pharmacies revealed that the prescribed drugs cost about US$25. In most pharmacies, Ivermectin was going for between $5 and $8 for five tablets, Omeprazole US$2 for 10 tablets and US$3 for 30 Prednisolone tablets. Zinc costs $3 per 10 tablets, Aspirin $1 for 30 tablets, Colchicine $8 for a box and Doxycycline $7.

One pharmacist said one could sopt for the Azithromycin course which cost $6.

Even where some doctors charge around US$30 as consultation fee, treatment kit cost US$25 while maximum costs for a house visit is US$50, the total costs are not anywhere near the extortionate charges at some private facilities.

Back Off Zanu PF,Jonathan Moyo Tells Service Chiefs

Exiled former cabinet minister Professor Jonathan Moyo has called upon the Zimbabwe Service Chiefs to delink themselves from the ruling party ZANU PF and protect the gains of the liberation struggle.

Moyo was commenting on a photographic footage of the service chiefs attending the launch of the Eddie Cross penned biography of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Said Moyo, “SERVICE CHIEFS: witnessing Eddie Cross, an ex-Rhodesian who busted sanctions for Ian Smith’s UDI & cofounded the MDC, revelling over the launch of his intimate biography of Mnangagwa. So why does the military bash the MDC for Mnangagwa and treat it as the enemy of Zimbabwe?

“SERVICE CHIEFS fought for majority rule under one person one vote; in line with s67 of Zim’s Constitution that gives citizens the right to vote MDC, if they so choose; yet they bash the MDC for Mnangagwa, who’s just had his biography authored by an ex-Rhodie & MDC cofounder!”

Moyo urged the military to take advantage of the month of August to implement the delinking process.

“THIS BEING THE MONTH of commemorating heroes of the liberation struggle, the time has come for the Military, to delink itself from #ZanuPF and protect the MOST IMPORTANT gain of the liberation struggle: MAJORITY RULE, based on one person one vote in a MULTIPARTY DEMOCRACY!” He added.

On On the 28th of December 2005, the then president of the main opposition party, the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC),  Morgan Tsvangirai wrote a letter to the late President Robert Mugabe telling him that, “As the Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), you are no doubt acutely aware of the Constitutional provisions and the relevant Acts of Parliament governing the conduct and operations of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) and the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP). There are neither constitutional nor legal provisions in either the Constitution or the Defence Act and the Police Act which empower you to transform these national institutions into combative political units of your political party ZANU PF.”

The service chiefs have often been accused of interfering in civilian matters and taking sides with the ruling party especially during election times.

In 2017, the Generals stepped in to effect a military coup after accusing a faction of ZANU PF called G40 of purging ruling party members with liberation credentials.

Leading academic Professor Sabelo Gatsheni Ndlovu wrote on online publication Accord that, “In Zimbabwe, a strong alliance between ZANU-PF nationalist leadership and the military forces has stood at the road to democracy and post-nationalist dispensation. It has guarded the nationalist shrine up to today and has defined politics in terms of a straight-jacket that only fits those with nationalist and military background.”

Child Marriages Wreak Havoc In Chipinge

By Desdemona Munengwa| The continued closure of schools has had adverse effects on young girls in Chipinge as it has resulted in a sharp rise in teenage pregnancies and child marriage cases since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak early last year.

According to Likhani Muvhamba who works for Chipinge based Platform for Youth and Community Development (PYCD), lockdowns have worsened ill behaviour among children.

“Checheche is a fast growing into a town and children who live in and around the growth point are engaging in mischievous behavior, it is now common to see young girls and boys aged below 15 years in bottlestoles and night clubs,” said Muvhamba.

Catherine Vhutuza from ward 20 in Chibuwe, another area hard hit by teenage pregnancies reported many abortion cases.

Vhutuza said in her area, a young grade 7 girl died while giving birth, in a case that has left the area in disbelief.

According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), over 800 million learners from around the world have been affected, with one in five learners failing to attend elementary school, one in four missing higher education classes.

In an attempt to reduce teenage pregnancies, PYCD gender activist Cynthia Gwenzi said her organization has handled four cases of teen pregnancies in two weeks, three in Chinyamukwakwa and one in Mabee including a tragic one where a 14 year old girl died together with her unborn child.

Platform for Youth and community Development, Claris Madhuku told this publication that in Chipinge district where they have been raising awareness on Sexual Reproductive Health Rights, cases of teen pregnancies and early marriages are decreasing.

Recent reports of a young girl from Johane Marange apostolic Church who died during delivery after she was denied access to medical attention left the country shocked with child rights activists calling on government to bring the culprits to book.

Parly Petitioned Over Forced COVID-19 Vaccinations

Marko Shoko, a prominent human rights monitor from Public Information Rights Forum (PIRF) has delivered a petition to the Parliament of Zimbabwe in which he is demanding a stop to forced vaccination of Chinese vaccination against Covid-19.

Shoko who is a human rights activist wants workplaces to stop demanding vaccination certificates from workers. He says that forced vaccination is a violation of Section 35 of the Public Health Act which says that a person must consent to a health service treatment he is subjected to.

Shoko delivered the petition addressed to the Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda and dated 29 July 2021 to the Clerk of Parliament Kennedy Chokuda on 29 July 2021.

Chokuda confirmed receipt of the petition and said he was going to look into it.

President Emerson Mnangagwa and several of his senior Government officials have for some time now been making threats against those who don’t want to be vaccinated including that they will not get employed, they will not be allowed on public transport or their will not sell their farm produce to the Grain Marketing Board.

Shoko told The Mirror in an interview that demanding of Covid-19 vaccination certificates was violation of human rights and should be treated just like any other disease where one would produce his/ her health history at his or her own consent not to be forced.

Mlondolozi Ndhlovu a human Rights defender said it was inhuman for companies to force its employees to get vaccinated.

The Government is currently on a campaign to ensure that as many citizens as possible are vaccinated against Covid-19. The target to be achieved by December this year is 10 million and so far there are 798 880 who have received both Covid19 vaccination while a total of 1 67 470 have received the first jab.

The Government is using the Covid vaccine from China for the program and according to the Minister of Finance the country has spent US$93m in procuring the vaccine.

“Section 35 of the Public Health Act provides that no health service /treatment shall be provided to a person without consent. For the cause to be valid it must be voluntary and informed and the person consenting must have the capacity to make the decision. Such voluntary and informed consent is or refused to consent to a particular health service or treatment must be respected,” reads the petition.

On 21 July Telone released a statement to its employees stating that it was going to withdraw Covid allowance to all unvaccinated staff and all the unvaccinated staff were placed on leave.

Police Vow To Enforce COVID-19 Restrictions During Heroes, Defence Forces Holidays…

Police have from July 1 impounded 67 buses countrywide, while several people have been arrested on allegations of travelling without the required documents and violating the national lockdown measures.

This comes as the police urged people to comply with the regulations during the Heroes and Defence Forces holidays on Monday and Tuesday.

The arrests came after authorities intensified the enforcement of Covid-19 control measures, with police impounding buses that are operating illegally.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said police will ensure that no intercity movements were undertaken by travellers in line with the Government’s recent ban.

“Any pirate taxis, mushikashika or private vehicles found to be carrying passengers during this period will be dealt with in terms of the country’s laws,” he said.

“As from July 1 to date, the ZRP impounded 41 buses in Masvingo, 10 buses in Harare, seven buses in Mashonaland West, five buses in Mashonaland East and four others in Manicaland for intercity movements in clear violation of the Government’s directive.

“Transporters are strongly warned against defying the safety measures put in place by Government.”

Asst Comm Nyathi said the police will only clear commercial cargo and essential services to pass through check points and roadblocks.

They will also be conducting stop and searches, blitz and raids to account for people contravening the Government’s ban on bars, beerhalls and night clubs.

“Shebeen operators will also be arrested during the holidays,” said Asst Comm Nyathi. “The public is reminded that all public gatherings are banned and funerals should be guided by the figure of 30 mourners as stipulated by Government. – The Herald

Broke Mnangagwa Administration Fails To Pay Water Bills

By A Correspondent- Lands and Agriculture minister Anxious Masuka has okayed the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) water cuts to government departments failing to pay for water timely to clear the $2,4 billion water debt, of which the Defence and War Veterans Affairs ministry is the biggest defaulter with a $363 million bill.

This followed Masuka’s revelations in Parliament on Wednesday that fellow Cabinet ministers had ignored his notice to clear the debts before disconnections, forcing Zinwa to take a painful decision to disconnect supplies.

“I personally, wrote letters to the ministers to inform them of these impending inconveniences should they not settle these debts. However, many did not respond to these notices and Zinwa had to take the painful decision to disconnect supplies,” Masuka told Parliament on Wednesday.

The situation resulted in Zinwa disconnecting water to many government departments and local authorities like Gwanda and Beitbridge.

The disconnections triggered a public outcry as residents felt that the move was ill-timed when they were grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Masuka told MPs in the National Assembly that Zinwa will continue to disconnect water supplies to defaulting customers.

He said the debt had impacted negatively on the operational effectiveness and efficiency of Zinwa to provide water services.

He said the continued non-servicing of the $2,4 billion debt crippled Zinwa, resulting in its failure to fund critical inputs such as chemicals, fuel, electricity, repairs and maintenance costs, among others.

“As of July 30 2021, Zinwa was owed $2,4 billion by institutions that continue to receive potable water supply services from the parastatal, albeit with many continuing to default on their payments,” Masuka said.
“Zinwa was left with no option, but to issue notices of cessation of service to defaulting customers. I have an extensive list of the affected ministries, departments, agencies and institutions. The affected institutions are the Defence and War Veteran Affairs ministry after its offices in provinces were disconnected for a $363 million debt.”

He said the Justice ministry owed Zinwa $142 million, while the Home Affairs ministry owed $210 million, the Transport ministry $9,5 million and the Health ministry $192 million, resulting in supplies getting disconnected.

Masuka said non-payment of bills affected Zinwa’s capacity to deliver its mandate, including the drilling of 35 000 boreholes for marginalised rural communities to support the transformative Presidential Rural Horticultural Programme in order to improve access to clean, safe water by these communities.

“Water supply services are rendered on a self-financing basis and there is no direct funding from the government for operation or maintenance; thus defaulting institutions are benefiting from the few consumers who honour their obligations,” he said, adding that Zimbabweans need to pay for utilities timely.

Masuka’s utterances followed a statement on Wednesday, where he advised ministries that Zinwa will, as a last resort, take drastic measures to induce payment and raise awareness among Zimbabweans of the need to pay their water bills timely.

He said water supplies had been restored at some institutions that submitted credible payment plans, while some government departments had particularly paid, with the Finance ministry immediately paying $350 million.

“Beitbridge Municipality has submitted a payment plan for $20 million per month and services were restored yesterday. Gwanda Municipality has submitted a payment plan for $5 million per month and services were restored yesterday (Monday),” he said.

Masuka continued: “Zinwa’s monthly obligations amount to $643 million against collections of $200 million (31%). The most cost drivers at Zinwa are chemicals $96 million, repairs and maintenance $200 million and
Energy $161 million, accounting for 71% of the monthly costs. Salaries and wages constitute 25% of the monthly costs. The major debtors are government institutions (42%) and local authorities (22%).

Sigauke Appointed New Army Commander

David Sigauke

New army commander David Sigauke

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has elevated one-time ardent Robert Mugabe defender David Sigauke to new Zimbabwe National Army commander.

This follows the death of Lieutenant-General Edzai Chimonyo from cancer early last month.

The now Lieutenant General Sigauke’s appointment is with immediate effect.

Prior to his new appointment, Sigauke was a Major-General and the military Chief of Staff (General Staff).

He was promoted to Major General on 18 December 2017.

The new army boss has a history as a politically meddlesome top soldier, having in 2008 been linked to threats on voters who rejected then President Robert Mugabe in the election.

Sigauke was one of the top officers in the army brass who were once hard-line defenders of former President Mugabe.

Six months before the 2008 elections, Sigauke was quoted in the media as having said, “As soldiers, we have the privilege to defend this task (of guaranteeing Mugabe and ZANUPF rule) on two fronts: the first being through the ballot box, and second being the use of the barrel of the gun should the worse come to the worst. I may therefore urge you as citizens of Zimbabwe to exercise your electoral right wisely in the forthcoming election in 2008, remembering that Zimbabwe shall never be a colony again.”

The first round of the poll was won by late former MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai who was later forced out of the run-off poll following an orgy of state sponsored violence against his party’s structures.

Emmerson Mnangagwa Biography

POLAD Is Doomed- Sikhala

Tinashe Sambiri|MDC Alliance vice chairperson Hon Job Sikhala has said the Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa is the author of the country’s current problems.

Hon Sikhala also described Mnangagwa as an arrogant man.

Mnangagwa is isolated from the people of Zimbabwe, according to Hon Sikhala.

Writing on Twitter, the fearless politician dismissed POLAD as a “comedy of errors.”

“The arrogance of Mnangagwa is informed from the wrong premise that he dismisses Zimbabweans as people who talk without action.

May u pliz tell us whose money did u use to buy the POLAD motor vehicles?

Please take this question seriously. Some of us we just don’t talk I mean it

We are not isolated. It is rather Mnangagwa who is isolated from the people. People don’t like him. Rather they hate him as the author of all their problems.

Let those who enjoy association with Mnangagwa do it without minding our business.

Those in POLAD are finished,” argued Hon Sikhala.

We Will Never Join POLAD- Mahere

THE MDC Alliance says it has no intentions of joining the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD), describing it as a an outfit for illegitimate parties who are there to promote autocracy in the country.

MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Tuesday said nothing will entice the party to join the grouping.

This came after President Emmerson Mnangagwa said the door was open for them join after his administration doled out all terrain vehicles to POLAD principals.

Posting on her Twitter account, Mahere said the Chamisa led party will continue to call for better living conditions in the country and also push for political reforms against Mnangagwa’s regime.

“The MDC Alliance will never join POLAD. It’s not the function of a legitimate opposition party to take trinkets in exchange for cheerleading autocracy. We continue to hold the regime accountable, demand better lives for the people and push for reforms in all areas of governance,” Mahere said.

On Friday, Mnangagwa gave 19 Isuzu D-Max cars to leaders of political parties which participated in the 2018 presidential election.

POLAD was introduced by Mnangagwa soon after his disputed victory in the 2018 elections where he called upon losing presidential contenders to engage with him and share ideas in moving the country forward.

However, his archrival, Nelson Chamisa turned down the offer and maintained that he will never work with Mnangagwa.- NewsDay

Chamisa Mocks Mnangagwa Biography

By A Correspondent- MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa has condemned President Emmerson Mnangagwa biography.

Appearing in pictures comparing Mnangagwa’s biography and that of the late former Zimbabwe Defence Forces Commander, General Solomon Mujuru’s, Chamisa seemed to be doubting the latter’s history.

Zinwa Cuts Water From Mnangagwa Offices

Mwonzora Fires Four Chamisa Top Allies

By A Correspondent- The MDC-T led by Douglas Mwonzora has recalled four MDC Alliance Councillors in Chipinge Urban.

According to Chipinge Times, the four Councillors who have been recalled are chairman Zivanai Nyakuchena Ward 1, Sarah Marwa Sithole Ward 2, Raina Madenyika Ward 4 and Chrispen Rambu Ward 8.

The four are believed to be aligned to MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa. They were recalled on Thursday.

The Minister of Local Government and Public Works, July Moyo, has already written a letter to the acting Chipinge town secretary giving notice of the development. The letter read in part:

I wish to inform you that I am in receipt of a letter from the secretary-general of the MDC-T dated August 4, stating that the following, Zivanai Nyakuchena, Sarah Marwa, Chrispen Rambu and Raina Madanyika in terms of section 278 (1) of the constitution of Zimbabwe as read with section 129 (1) (k) wards (1), (2), (8) and 4 are now vacant.

Moyo said the council was expected to inform the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) about the four vacant council seats.

Mwonzora’s recalls have paralysed councils throughout the country and weakened the opposition in Parliament, making it easy for ZANU PF to pass controversial Bills.
