Mnangagwa Rewards Mwonzora, Gives His MP Ambassadorial Post

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed MDC-T Member of Parliament Priscillia Misihairabwi-Mushonga as Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Sweden.

Mnangagwa made the appointment on Friday and was announced by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Misheck Sibanda, in a Statutory Instrument of a Government Gazette.

President Mnangagwa also appointed Lovemore Mazemo as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Arab Emirates, while Alice Mashingaidze has been appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Federal Republic of Germany.

Misihairabwi-Mushonga is not the first sitting or former MDC legislator to be appointed an ambassador by President Mnangagwa’s so-called New Dispensation.

Former MDC legislator for Mabvuku-Tafara, James Maridadi, was appointed the country’s ambassador to Senegal in 2019.
The appointments of MDC officials in government have raised eyebrows, with some political commentators saying this is proof that the opposition is heavily infiltrated by State agents who would be rewarded after accomplishing their mission of destabilising the party.

MDC Turns 22, Chamisa Gives Powerful, Hopeful Message

By Nelson Chamisa-Two decades ago, a diverse range of people and groups came together to build a glorious movement that would play a significant role in shaping the governance of our country.

At the time, Zimbabwe was still in its teenage years, but it was facing serious challenges. Signs of stunted growth were already evident in the social, economic, and political spheres.

The men and women who had valiantly led the fight for our independence had reached the limits of their capabilities. The ship was running aground, and it needed to be rescued.

It was in this context that the People’s movement was born on 11 September 1999 to carry out this historic mission.

The journey was never going to be simple, but the People’s movement has stood firm and equal to the task. Given the magnitude of the resistance and repression from the forces of the establishment, it is no mean task the people’s movement remains alive and fighting.

This is so because the is a big idea of challenging repressive rule and promoting open, democratic, and transformative governance.

Those faithful to the idea have remained resolute and determined against numerous odds that would have buried any other ordinary political unit.

Over the years, the People’s movement has grown into something bigger than we could have imagined.Perpetual succession is a hallmark of enduring institutions. A strong institution must be able to survive its founders.

The leading lights of the People’s movement ’s founding era, luminaries like Morgan Tsvangirai, Gibson Sibanda and Isaac Matongo are no longer with us, but the institution has survived them.

This is a testament to the strength of their vision and leadership and to the durability of the idea whose seed they planted back in 1999.

For many of its faithful, the People’s movement has become a way of life; something that is woven into the social fabric of Zimbabwean society.

This is the reason why the idea has survived despite the enormous obstacles that have been thrown on its path since birth. The idea has retained persuasive value and authority among the people. Even its critics and detractors cannot afford to ignore it. Babies born in 1999, when we started, have since reached adulthood.

Their struggles have mirrored the struggles of the movement which resonates with their dreams and aspirations. It gives me enormous satisfaction seeing young Zimbabweans, some born shortly before or after its formation, taking ownership of the idea that it represents. They had the choice to take the easy path, becoming part of the gravy train.

But no, they chose the hard path, identifying with the movement that they know is dedicated to a more progressive way of governing the country bequeathed to them by their forebearers. The “Great” in Zimbabwe cannot be purchased by trinkets from the ruling establishment.

Over the past year, we have seen a sustained and determined effort by the people’s oppressors to undermine and destroy the movement.

This is because the oppressor despises a strong alternative. The oppressor prefers the outdated politics of the one-party state. The oppressor has used surrogates masquerading as opposition to impersonate us, usurp the People’s assets and to expel People’s lawfully elected political representatives from elected bodies.

They have even diverted public funds that we rightfully earned based on our performance in the 2018 elections. This money is dished out to their preferred opposition. The idea is to suffocate us politically and financially and drive us into extinction.

But they are suffering a fundamental delusion. They mistake buildings for institutions. They confuse money for votes. They erringly believe that a name and an idea are the same thing. They focus on materials, not ideas. They do not realise that the idea that holds us together transcends buildings, titles labels, entitlements, emoluments or money.

The painful reality, which they discover each time they stamp their hard boot upon us is that the movement that was established in 1999 is etched in the hearts and minds of the citizens. It does not die because a judicial officer has made a controversial pronouncement.

It is not erased from the hearts and minds of citizens because a partisan officer of Parliament has made an unfair decision to expel a duly elected MP.

It does not become redundant because a corrupted or partisan Minister has decided to divert resources to their favoured ones. It does not wither because some excitable ‘willing tools’ of the ruling party are wearing stolen robes.

It is a way of life that cannot be changed on the whim of a politician whose primary mission is to expunge a genuine opposition from the political landscape, replacing it with a government ‘created opposition’.

We are not the first in post-independent Zimbabwe. Indeed, we are not the first political party to have suffered an onslaught designed to cause extinction. There was ZAPU led by the iconic Dr Joshua Nkomo before us. Veteran nationalist Edgar Tekere formed the ZUM which challenged the attempt to establish a one-party state. Former Chief Justice Enoch Dumbutshena and his colleagues tried their hand at politics with the Forum party in the 1990s.

These parties were terrorized and ultimately swallowed or pummelled into submission by ZANU PF. We have stayed the course although much has been thrown at us. It is a mark of our resilience and collective believe that we have remained afloat. But we have not only survived.

We continue to challenge repression. The reason why the regime and its enablers continue their onslaught long after everything they have done to date is a mark of recognition of the political force that we are. Each time they knock us down using underhand blows, we rise and stand strong.

Not even the attempt to impersonate us will succeed. You can steal a label, but you cannot steal character. Citizens can see through the political gimmicks. They can identify the grain from the chaff.

Even democrats beyond our country can distinguish between a fake and the genuine article. Last week, I was invited to the inauguration of President Hakainde Hichilema in Zambia. His ascension to the highest office in our sister country is a proud moment for Africa, the people of Zambia and indeed a humbling one for all of us who are strong believers in the idea of a New Africa and democracy.

President Hichilema’s success reminds us that the pursuit of democracy requires principled leadership based upon resilience, consistency, determination, and strategy. He did not stop because the opposite side had thwarted him several times before. He did not give up because he was being persecuted. He did not throw in the towel because they were naysayers who said it was impossible. We draw great lessons and inspiration from that experience.

I began by looking back to the first days of our movement. I emphasised the fact that ours is a glorious movement based on an idea that is woven into the fabric of society.

They have tried many things. They will keep trying, hoping to put us down forever. But they will not succeed. They will fail because the movement is bigger than the material things that they are grabbing and destroying. We are rooted and headquartered within the hearts and minds of Zimbabweans. They cannot destroy what is written in the hearts and minds of the people.

I was a young man when we started along with others. I am now a full man and still at it. The idea of getting tired is a luxury that is unaffordable. We are inspired by the missionary zeal to transform anchored on the will to change. When I see the fervour among the young people, I am energised and reinvigorated.

So many young people have emerged since those early days in 1999. We thought by now, things would be better. They are not, but it has not been for lack of trying. I want to end by urging you all, young people of Zimbabwe, to seize the moment, just like your peers did in Zambia.

We can start this by registering to vote. The right to vote is one of the most central democratic rights that we enjoy. At 18, everyone can register as a voter and participate in elections. But while this is so fundamental and potentially life-changing it is regrettable that so many people still do not exercise it. Each time that an eligible person does not vote, they are outsourcing their future to the next person who is voting.
We can change this, but to do so we must take an extra effort and extra step, that mental leap to win Zimbabwe for change. As you know, change is anchored in belief. We need a progressive mindset that recognises the fact that every vote matters.

Remember this: a million votes are made up of a million single votes cast separately by a million individuals. A hallmark of our culture is that “I am because you are”. We call it Ubuntu. It is a recognition that one’s humanity and worth is not isolated from the humanity of the next person. Similar logic applies to our votes. Your vote counts because of the next vote. Together they can make a more significant impact.

That is why we must all, young and old, play our part as we push this historic phase of our struggle for better governance of our country. We need an inter generational consensus. We must seek and construct a new consensus, a new national convergence. We did it with the liberation promise. Let us do it once again with the transformation promise.

We are blessed with an abundance of resources, but at present, they are benefitting a few, a small clique that believes it has exclusive rights to them. Resources belong to all of us, but to change this primitive monopolisation we must converge in large numbers to challenge and defeat the forces that continue to hold the country hostage. They would not be a million if one thought voting was pointless. We must embrace the spirit of ants that know that the survival and perpetual succession of their colony depends on each one of them performing its respective role.

I Wish To Meet ED, Says Opposition Leader

Ideas Party of Democracy (IPD) leader, Herbert Chamuka has invited President Emmerson Mnangagwa to discuss the state of the national affairs and foster a way forward for economic recovery.

Chamuka, who is one of the several opposition leaders in the country told 263Chat from his South African base that Mnangagwa should give an ear to opposition parties who are outside Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) and hear their ideas for the country.

“My biggest wish is to meet with the President and talk about different things because we are not enemies and we will never be enemies. Even if a lot of people say many things Mr Mnangagwa did this and that, as long as he has not done those things to me or my party, I don’t have any proof.

“The issue that I have as a leader, I want Mr Mnangagwa and his Zanu-PF cabinet to sit down and dialogue with us. The dialogue that we have is how we can fix Zimbabwe. How do we remove the people from the mud? We can see the issue of the sanctions. We want to see how they can be removed but the ones at the top are difficult to deal with so what can we do to get out of the sanctions?” Chamuka said.

President Mnangagwa has been in consultation with POLAD members, a grouping of losing presidential hopefuls from the 2018 elections.

The POLAD group has been accused of fronting for Zanu-PF and furthering the interests of the ruling party in exchange for luxurious pecks.

The group is believed to be pushing for the postponement of the 2023 elections under the guise of COVID-19.

Mnangagwa has also been meeting with influential youths to try and win the youth vote ahead of the 2023 elections.

Chamuka said if Mnangagwa can meet up with people like Passion Java and Prophet Eubert Angel, then he should also meet with the opposition leaders.

“It shouldn’t be a problem to talk to Mr Mnangagwa because if he can talk to people like Twabam (Java) Eubert Angel and other people with no direction in the ruling of the country how will he be unable to sit down with us the politicians.

“So we wish that Mr Mnangagwa accepts us and sit down with us. but I want to be thankful that since forming the IPD we never have been disturbed by the police, war veterans or even Zanu-PF and what we have been doing in Zimbabwe is just going further easily,” Chamuka said.

Mahere Rips Into Thabela For Mocking Teachers

Tinashe Sambiri|MDC Alliance national spokesperson Advocate Fadzayi Mahere has slammed Education Ministry Permanent Secretary Ms Thumisang Thabela for mocking teachers …

Thabela said teachers who do not have money for transport should borrow from their friends.

Such utterances are reckless, according to Advocate Mahere.

“We need a Govt that pays teachers a living wage instead of mocking them for their penury and telling them to borrow from friends to make ends meet.”

Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe national coordinator Harison Mudzuri described the remarks as shocking…

“We heard the Permanent Secretary for Education in Zim Ms Tumisang Thabela mocking teachers in Zimbabwe for borrowing money for them to go to work and she sarcastically urged them to continue to do so. Teachers you heard for yourself.

The Zim gvt finds it ridiculous for teachers to report for duty under the current working conditions,” fumed Mudzuri.

Diamond Rush In Chimanimani Leaves Trail Of Destruction

HUNDREDS of illegal diamond panners and foreign nationals believed to be buyers are
flocking to Chimanimani following the reported discovery of alluvial diamonds near
Charleswood Farm.

This has resulted in all sorts of cars ranging from the latest SUVs to trucks descending on
the area, while flea market traders have set up base there.

Though security personnel have been deployed to thwart the illegal activities, the daring
panners had resorted to a cat-and -mouse games with the law enforcement agents.

Some of the panners were reportedly greasing the palms of unscrupulous law
enforcement agents and Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC) security
officials seconded to the area to gain entry.

Chimanimani District Development Coordinator Mr Joseph Manyurapasi, Officer
Commanding Chipinge District, Chief Superintendent Kennedy Nyaumwe and Chief
Chikukwa all confirmed the influx of illegal diamond panners in the area.

The illegal panning activities have disturbed operations at nearby farms, especially a Mr
Jeketere’s plot which is now littered with open shafts.

The panners are also encroaching on his homestead.

“We have had an influx of artisanal miners in Chimanimani in recent weeks. They
invaded Charleswood area. However, the police have managed to move in to clear the
area. Some of them are still lingering around hoping for an opportunity to carry on with
their illegal activities.

“From what we have gathered, there is nothing much in terms of diamonds being
obtained from the areas where the panners are camped.

Govt Punishes Teachers Who Haven’t Reported For Duty

Zimbabwean teachers who have chosen to stay away from work citing financial incapacitation will not receive their wages.

Public Service Commission secretary Jonathan Wutawunashe said in a press statement Friday that government’s wage payment arm has been ordered to withhold wages from absentee civil servants.

“The Salary Service Bureau has been instructed to process salary payments for civil servants strictly on the basis of work attendance registers submitted by Government Ministries and Departments.

“Ministries will indicate cases where personnel has been officially excused from duty to ensure the inclusion of such personnel on the payroll. Government commends the majority of civil servants for continuing to serve the public with dedication and commitment,” said Wutawunashe.

When local schools reopened early this month following a prolonged closure due to the Covid-19 induced national lockdown, a lot of schoolteachers elected to remain at home claiming their wages could not meet their livelihoods and fares to report to work.

A ministry official said this week that 30 percent of the 140 000 strong teaching workforce has been absent from duty.

But commenting Friday on the decision by withhold salaries by government, the Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe was adamant government should not dodge the real issues affecting the educators.

“Bhadharai vanhu maCdes. Very few people absent themselves just for jolly. Unlike top gvt officials who have various incomes, including T&Ss, teachers mostly depend on the $22k-30k that you pay them. The incapacitation is real,” said the teachers union.

Hallucinating and fabricating falsehood about Nelson Chamisa and Hakainde Hichilema: When activism loses its cause-and-effect!

By Nomazulu Thata| Activism has multiple dimensions and interpretations: Every individual defines for herself/ himself what one wants to achieve at the end of the day. On Bulawayo 24 media there was an article written by Mandla Ndlovu insinuating flagrant and daylight fabrication about the “connection and the friendship” between Chamisa and Hichilema. In his style we all know best, Nomusa Garikai picked it up espousing the article and spinning it out in hot political verbosity and air to get traction and attention of the frontline states and beyond. They are again informed by activist Nomusa about the “terroristic” intentions of the newly elected President Hakainde Hichilema and his friend Nelson Chamisa.

It is either personal hatred against Chamisa and Hichilema that has driven Nomusa Garikai to write a reckless article peddling falsehood he knows will attract attention to Zanu PF to react: Or is Garikai so envious about these two politicians who are apparently friends. Both suspicions are not far from the truth. A genuine political activist would have challenged the contents of the article by Mandla Ndlovu as figment of his hallucinations and dismiss it with contempt it deserves. Nomusa Garikai’s article, however, is meant to feed Zanu PF with a different narrative about Hichilema’s success presidential victory: an action meant to fuel Zanu to systematically injure Chamisa and Hichilema. According to my definition of activism, that is not genuine activism. In Shona we say: “huroi” in Ndebele “ubuthakathi” to think and act in the manner Nomusa has done.

Nomusa Garikai’s sudden spin of his activism is intended to harm he is otherwise an above average and politically enlightened persona about SADC regional politics and its challenges.  Has his activism turned suddenly to inexcusable hatred for Chamisa especially? His article is saying loudly: Zanu, look closely into the “relationship” between Chamisa and Hichilema, they are planning something in the continent of Africa. He is putting Chamisa in a situation that will hurt him personally together with Hichilema. Garikai knows the monster Zanu PF and how it will pick this message up and dwell on it in the style we know best. We talk about satanic verses! Be it Chamisa or Hichilema have the capacity to destabilize Africa.

In Ndebele we say, you do not need to carry around harmful herbs to be labelled a witch; harmful thoughts that one harbours about the other could be witchy. When has Nomusa started talking the language of “western sponsored Chamisa and Hichilema”? This is meant to deliver Chamisa and Hichilema on the spotlight of Zanu done deliberately to attract Zanu attention to react on both Chamisa and Hichilema. Politics is indeed a dirty game: but when even activists who are supposed to be vanguards of positive change start to insinuate and begin to be peddling falsehood to people and politicians whom they oppose, then it defeats the purpose of activism altogether.

I happen to know Nomusa Garikai his real name; an active blogger that wants to cover his activism is several names, which is also good in the way he chooses. He has penned more than 500 articles most of which are repetitive in their content: I do not how many times he has written articles and recycled them with the same message and content: hundred times? Seeing his articles without reading it, we can already predict what has been written; The MDC leaders have failed to implement even one democratic reform in five years, FIVE YEARS, of the GNU. Writes Nomusa Garikai. This has become his daily song and prayer for years and curiously he is so full of it!

How the MDC-Tsvangirai failed to implement one single reform in their GNU has been the song sung to us permanently we cannot even breath because of this one fact; by the way it is a fact: the question is, saying it a thousand times will solve what? Repetition of a fact of 2009 is going to change what in 2021? Will his repetition of the same meant to reverse time or the calendar to 2009 – 2013 and as according to his wishes, MDC-T starts to negotiate genuine reforms with Zanu PF that will usher and guarantee free and fair elections in future?

Wilbert Mukori or Nomusa Garikai or Patrick Guramatunhu does not listen to advice from anyone: He thinks this repetition is right course of activism. Mention to anyone the name Nomusa Garikai or Wilbert Mukori, the reaction is the same. People out there are fed-up of the same message coming from him.

Curiously, Nomusa Garikai’s articles quotes Albert Einstein’s famous statement a thousand times. If you do something repeatedly expect different results are clear symptoms of insanity.  Strangely he does not realize that this statement can apply to him equally. To continuously pound on a narrative repeatedly: MDC forfeited reforms during the GNU period of 2009 to 1013 is symptomatic madness: There is no rational: several people have commented on this fact but because Nomusa Garikai has pedestalized himself so high, will not take advice from simpletons. He thinks his political bar is beyond reach: Such people are dangerous. People of the mould of Nomusa Garikai, given power to rule will be despots and at the same breath justify their despotic rule intelligently.

“The opposition MDC-Alliance and the recently elected UPND of Zambia, have reportedly developed a plan to annihilate all long-standing ruling parties, especially former Liberation Movements in Africa by 2030 a senior MDC Alliance official from Harare who spoke to this reporter on condition of anonymity said.” Nomusa Garikai repeats this statement with hidden intentions bent to fuel a narrative and to spin falsehood into facts. This is the recklessness of activism without proper direction that is grounded on ideology but instead fuelled with hatred to anyone who opposes his views. The powerful messages that activists have in societies cannot be wished away. In that vein Nomusa knows the power of his articles and how they influence even governments. To say he cannot be blamed because Mnangagwa Zanu have already bagged Chamisa and Hichilema as targets to eliminate is wholly irresponsible and perfidious. Nomusa Garikai equally wants the two politicians eliminated: the purpose of his article.

The young man Chamisa could be our son. We dislike his politics and hence we critique him to lay bare his political shortcomings as means to reviews his political trajectory for the betterment of the party. We do not criticize him to deliver him to murderous party Zanu that pries on the blood of the innocent people. I wrote passionately about the intensions of Zanu to incarcerate President Chamisa having declared him a terrorist. Curiously, we never read one article from Nomusa Garikai condemning Zanu regime for labelling Chamisa a terrorist. Was Nomusa Garikai okay with Zanu accusing Chamisa of terrorism which he is not?

I believe in the sanctity of life that is precious. Much as I am anti-Chamisa politically, I least want to see him harmed by Zanu PF who have no respect for life. I am bringing home the message that activism must have positive meaning and direction. We must ask questions constantly; what we want to achieve at the end of the day. Activism should not be seen to give fuel to situations harmful to the people intended to liberate. True activism demands from us to standing back and reflecting the cause and effect of our political conviction.

It is easy for us activists to lose focus when we personalize issues frustratingly when we do not get the intended results we want. Activism has never been about political end results but about shedding light to politics that will be taken on board by politicians, and they orient their political trajectories with the critiques we shall have highlighted.

I hope Nomusa Garikai, or Patrick Guramatunhu or Wilbert Mukori will learn to take advice from lesser mortals. You are not alpha and omega in the scheme of things. You have been in the trenches of activism for long hence it is easy to pedestalize yourself as the only voice in the room. You are advised to lean back: take a break. Continue to critique Chamisa but do not affect critiques that is detrimental to him personally. At the end of the day Chamisa is our son. How would I feel if someone picked on my Nqobizitha, wrote an article detrimental to his person? Empathy should be our signature in activism; if not, then better leave activism altogether: Quitting and resigning from political activism is better than to turn into a counter revolutionary. We ask President Hakainde Hichilema to watch his back carefully. He can be assassinated by hidden forces building up against him in the region and beyond. Ba Hakainde Hichilema tili kabotu chitondimwe: Please be careful. Your fight for democracy successfully is an envy to many who are not happy about your rise to power. Be careful: watch your back: Lungu may not harm you but despots in the region may do. Do not be afraid to create democratic space for millions in SADC region: To be careful is not synonymous to be fearful of enemies. I am sending this article to Lusaka Times so that President Hakainde Hichilema can get this information somehow or other. Giving this caution, Zambian secret service may be aware of. Please guard your newly found Zambian democracy jealously

Tinashe Sambiri|The Movement for Democratic Change will celebrate 22 years of existence on Saturday September 11.

Despite frantic attempts by Zanu PF to annihilate the struggle for freedom, the popular movement has remained resilient.

From the days of the late founding President, Morgan Tsvangirai to the current generation led by the People’s President Advocate Nelson Chamisa, Zanu PF has been trying relentlessly, albeit without success, to destroy the political formation.

In a statement the MDC Alliance said:
On Saturday 11 September 2021, we celebrate the birth of our cause which was founded 22 years ago.

We now set our sights on completing the journey started by our forebears.

Under the able leadership of the people’s President

Notorious Land Baron’s Property Eyed For The Hammer

Fraudulent transactions done by the late Chitungwiza land baron Fredreck Mabamba involving land worth over US$16 million are following him to the grave, with one of the victims claiming three residential stands or US$13 000 from his estate.

Mabamba left behind a multi-million dollar estate, which is in its initial stages at the Master of High Court and the first victim’s claim is likely to open a floodgate of civil claims against the estate.

Among properties owned by Mabamba is a massive complex near Chitungwiza Town Centre, which is popularly known as “Mabamba Complex”, various properties registered under his schools — Long Range Academy, Rioboth Mission Primary and a fleet of vehicles.

Recently-appointed executors are still compiling a list of properties forming the estate of the late property mogul.

Mabamba collapsed and died in March this year while in remand prison. He had been referred to Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare where he was under guard.

He was facing charges of illegally parcelling out land worth over US$16 million belonging to Chitungwiza Municipality.

He died as his lawyer, Mr Tapiwa Munodawafa from Nyikadzino, Simango and Associates, was making submissions for his bail appeal at the High Court.

Judgment on the appeal was reserved.

A victim of Mabamba’s land deals, Mr Ezra Chidavaenzi of Greendale, Harare, has since written to one of the executors claiming back the US$13 000 he had paid in respect of three residential stands in Unit G, Seke, which later turned out to be the property of Chitungwiza Municipality.

He is claiming the money or alternatively three stands from the estate.

Mr Chidavaenzi had obtained a court order during Mabamba’s lifetime for payment of the money or delivery of the stands.

When Mabamba died, he was still to comply with the order in question, hence the victim has engaged the executor to the estate.

“Despite several demands to have my money refunded, the defendants (late Mabamba and his United We Stand Multi-purpose Cooperative) refused or neglected to pay.

“This led to the court processes and ultimately to the High Court, granting judgment in my favour on January 20, 2019. The court ordered the defendants to refund me US$13 390 with interest at the rate of 5% per annum from the date of issue of summons to the date of payment in full. It is against this above detail that I am lodging this claim of US$13 390 against the estate of the late Fraderick Mabamba,” reads the letter.

According to the claim, Mabamba through the cooperative, advertised that he was selling stands in Unit G-Extension, Seke.

“I approached the defendants looking for residential stands. Defendants and I signed an agreement of sale on 28 October 2001. I paid US$13 390 as the whole required amount for three residential stands which were allocated to me on paper as Stand Numbers 454, 455 and 456 Unit G Extension, Seke. It subsequently turned out to that the stands belonged to the Chitungwiza Town Council and had already been allocated to others, and that the first and second respondents had no right to sell them,” writes Mr Chidavaenzi.

Details of the transactions show that since 1999, Mabamba, a former Chitungwiza councillor and deputy mayor, abused his office and parcelled out stands without authority, pocketing US$13 724 000.

He allegedly created 200 residential stands in St Mary’s suburb, which he sold for US$600 000 and 230 stands on wetlands in Zengeza 4 worth US$1 058 000.

He allegedly sold another 57 stands in Zengeza 4 for US$3 000 each and a batch of 400 stands, which he sold in Unit A before receiving US$44 000 for two commercial stands in Unit B.

In Unit C, Mabamba allegedly sold 120 stands, while another 120 were allocated to people in Unit N and F, with one of the beneficiaries having exchanged the stand for his Toyota Gaia vehicle.

Mabamba was also accused of selling 76 stands in Unit G, 211 in Unit J, 151 in Unit K, and 227 in Unit L worth US$1 589 000.

In Unit N, Mabamba is said to have allocated 284 stands and created a stand for a hospital plus another 1 671 stands for his housing cooperative named United We Stand Multi-Purpose.- Herald

Is It Right To Exhume Robert Mugabe Against Family Wishes?

By A Correspondent-President Emmerson Mnangagwa has won his battle with the late President Robert Mugabe’s family, in which he was fighting for the exhumation of the body of the late ruler.

Grace Mugabe being consoled by former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo in Sept 2019

Mnangagwa’s victory was pronounced by the Chinhoyi Court Friday which ruled that the late Mugabe must be exhumed and reburied at the National Heroes Acre in Harare.

This followed an appeal challenging an earlier decision by Chief Zvimba ordering Mugabe’s exhumation.

Mugabe was buried at his Zvimba homestead after the family spurned pressure from the government to have the decorated liberation war icon’s remains interred at the National Shrine.

This is a developing story, more details to follow….

Grobbelaar Eyes Warriors Coaching Job

Warriors legend Bruce Grobbelaar says he is now ready to coach to the Warriors for the last time in his career.

Grobbelaar has managed the national team before, with his first spell coming in 1997 as a player-coach and then in 1998 on a full time basis.

Speaking with Alois Bunjira on the Intouch With Legends show, Grobbelaar said he wants to return to Warriors fold should the post become vacant anytime from now.

“I would like to have the last dance with the Warriors right now,” he said.

Asked why he has taken long to approach ZIFA over the job, Grobbelaar added: “They (ZIFA) already have got someone (Zdravko Logarusic) whom I feel hasn’t been the best…

“He is probably the worst manager the country has ever had, and that’s saying something.”

Meanwhile, Logarusic has, of late, come underfire for his record with the Warriors after managing just one win and four draws in fourteen games.

The latest defeat to Ethiopia on Tuesday in World Cup Qualifiers further worsened the situation and reports are suggesting a possible sacking in the coming days.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Facts About Ulcers

By Dr Ellane Simon
These are sores that develop in the lining of the esophagus, stomach and small intestines. This occurs when acid damages the lining of the digestive tract.
Causes include: H-pylori a bacterial infection, anti- inflammatory pain killers such as asprin, ibuprofen. Smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, stress and spicy food worsens ulcers but do not cause them.
Those with ulcers usually complain of: burping, passing excessive gas, bloody or dark poop, pain between belly button and breast bone when hungry, sometimes after meals or after certain types of food.
Treatment should be administered by health professionals and these include medication to treat bacterial infection, drugs that reduce acid secretion and stopping all anti inflammatory drugs.
Lifestyle modifications include:

  1. Reducing alcohol or stopping alcohol.
  2. Weight reduction if overweight or obese.
  3. Reduce fatty foods and spices
  4. Stop smoking

Woman Brutally Kills Boyfriend

A woman accused of killing her live-in lover before burning and burying his remains on a mountain was made to dig him up with a shovel while police officers taunted her, a video seen by ZimLive shows…

A police detective yelled “fuseki iwe” (f**k you) at Siphathisiwe Sifiso Dube, 49, as she retrieved the remains of Stanley Moyo from a shallow mountain grave in Siyaphambili Village in Filabusi.

“If I had come alone, I would have made her eat his intestines,” the detective adds as Dube busily places the reported human remains in a sack.

Police later ordered Dube – said to be a mum of seven – to carry the remains from the mountain on her head.

The unusual police methods used in the recovery of Moyo’s body would horrify even rookie detectives in other countries where victims and suspects are both treated with dignity, with forensic teams often assigned to secure the integrity of crime scenes and collect evidence.

Dube appeared before Filabusi regional magistrate Abednico Ndebele last Friday accused of teaming up with her son, Mqondisi Mnkandla, 20, and brother, Bhekimpilo Nkomo, 42, to kill Moyo following a domestic dispute.

The trio allegedly buried Moyo in a shallow grave on a nearby mountain, but after a few days discovered that dogs had dug the body up and were feasting on it. They then allegedly decided to burn the body, before reburying what remained.

In the video believed to have been shot by police officers, the detectives are heard demanding to be shown Moyo’s intestines and legs which are apparently missing.

Prosecutor Shepherd Moyo did not say what led to the August 16 killing which has horrified locals.

Ndebele remanded the trio to September 16 and advised them to appeal for bail at the High Court.

Ward 1 councillor Festas Ndlovu told reporters Dube and Moyo “had a history of fighting.”

“I gather they had fought before this tragic incident. Moyo had also tried to burn the woman in one of their huts,” Ndlovu said.

Dube was a widower who took in Moyo as a live-in lover, according to Ndlovu.

“Neighbours began enquiring where the man was when he could not be seen in the homestead. I understand a child who was staying with them told friends what happened until the matter reached the elders,” Ndlovu said.

Mnangagwa Confirms Working With Mwonzora

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF said it was more comfortable going to bed with Douglas Mwonzora’s pliable MDC-T and other fringe opposition parties under the auspices of the Political Actors Dialogue (Polad), but without Nelson Chamisa’s MDC Alliance.

This coincided with the release of Afrobarometer’s survey report, which revealed that the majority of election-weary citizens were vouching for a coalition government to restore economic stability in the country despite that it’s only about 18 months before the next general elections.

The last time Zimbabwe was under a coalition government was between 2009 and 2013 when Zanu PF coalesced with the two MDCs, bringing economic and political stability to the troubled southern African nation.
Zanu PF secretary for administration Obert Mpofu said the party recognised Polad as the sole platform to meet other opposition parties to discuss governance issues.
“While I may not dispute the findings of the survey on the position of our supporters on coalition government, our party does not recognise the so-called opposition party led by Chamisa,” Mpofu said.
“We recognise the one led by Douglas Mwonzora, which is also supported by the dictates of the Constitution because it is the opposition with the highest representation in Parliament after Zanu PF.
“Coalition governance is a product of certain processes which should be taken into consideration. Zanu PF has always been open for dialogue and those parties which are earnest in addressing the socio-political problems which are affecting the country have heeded to the call.”
He added: “This resulted in the formation of the Polad where leaders of political parties discuss issues which relate to the type of government they want. Zanu PF is the major political party in the country with the majority in parliamentary representation.”
He said his party was not under pressure for any coalition, but it was “out of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s wisdom to extend an olive branch to all other political parties who lost in the 2018 elections”.
Chamisa’s spokesperson Nkululeko Sibanda said the opposition leader has always been in support of unity, but has remained principled so as not to sacrifice the gains of democracy just for the sake of joining hands with other political parties.
“President Chamisa has always been preaching the same gospel of unity,” Sibanda said.
“He wants a unified nation, just like his supporters do. But there is a difference between a genuine coalition and a bastardised one which we have in the country where a political party — Zanu PF is dominating the so-called Polad just to further its interests to ensure a one-party State.”
He added Chamisa refused to join Polad because he did not want to sacrifice the will of the people, accusing its principals of being a bunch of useless people pursuing material benefits.
“Therefore, we are in agreement with our supporters who are opting for a coalition government because they are peace-loving, conforming to the party’s position, but we need political reforms for a level political ground to enhance democracy.”
Zanu PF has been accused of conniving with Mwonzora to decimate Chamisa’s party after the latter refused to recognise Mnangagwa’s victory in the 2018 elections.
Since Mwonzora took over as MDC-T leader, there has been speculation that Mnangagwa and Mwonzora were plotting to form a unity government to push for the postponement of the 2023 polls. Both have however, denied the claims.
But political analyst Ernest Mudzengi said by opting for a coalition government, citizens had lost hope for reforms under the Zanu PF regime.
“A coalition government is an alternative to usher in electoral reforms, but it is shortlived and temporary, as evidenced by the previous government of national unity.
“Calling for a coalition government is a sign of desperation. They are speaking from history where they saw a change during the unity between the now late MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai and Robert Mugabe,” Mudzengi said.
The survey noted that the majority of citizens felt that the main opposition political parties should be part of the broader coalition with the ruling party.
According to the report, 52% of respondents who are close to the ruling Zanu PF, and 66% MDC Alliance sympathisers endorsed the idea of a coalition government.
The Afrobarometer interviewed 1 200 adult citizens in April this year in partnership with the Mass Public Opinion Institute (MPOI).
“Support for a coalition government is the majority position among adherents of both the ruling Zanu PF and the opposition MDC Chamisa parties, as well as among residents of all provinces,” the Afrobarometer report said.
“Two-thirds (66%) of Zimbabweans ‘agree’ or ‘strongly agree’ that the main opposition political parties should be brought into government to form a coalition with the ruling party in order to solve the country’s political and economic problems,” it added.

Chamisa Remembers Tsvangirai, As MDC Turns 22

Zanu PF Feasts On Hungry MDC Officials

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF is feasting on hungry opposition MDC officials by giving them top government positions ahead of the 2023 elections.

Nick Mangwana, the Zanu PF government spokesperson, on Friday after the appointment of MDC-T MP Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga to the post of Zim Ambassador to Sweden, said President Emmerson Mnangagwa was scouting for patriotic opposition members.

“Even though for years, they were formidable legislators on the opposite side of the isle, President

Zim Woman Slices Hubby, Throws Body Parts In Toilet

By A Correspondent- The bail hearing for a 42-year-old Zimbabwean woman, who in 2015 allegedly killed her husband during a domestic dispute has been postponed to September 21 at the Mogwase Magistrate Court in North West, South Africa.

Nancy Majoni is accused of assaulting her husband Prosper Chipungare (44) with a hammer before dismembering his body with a spade in July 2015.

After which she dumped his remains in three separate pit latrines in the Sun City area.

North West spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Mr Henry Mamothame confirmed the latest development on Friday.
He said the postponement was effected due to technical glitches that were experienced with court recording devices.
“The State and the defence attorney agreed on the date for the commencement of the bail application,” said Mr Mamothame.
“The State intends opposing the granting of bail to the accused.

“Police reports reveal that Nancy Majoni was staying with her husband, Prosper Chipungare (44) at a rented room in Ledig near Sun City when they had a fight on Tuesday, 28 July 2015.”
He said Majoni allegedly assaulted her husband with a hammer until he fainted.
“She then hacked him with a spade and threw the body parts into three different pit latrines before cleaning the crime scene out.
Subsequent to the alleged killing, she went to Sun City police station where she reported her husband as missing,” he added.
The official said after committing the offence, the woman allegedly skipped the border to Zimbabwe.
He said she later confessed to her family and in-laws that she had killed Chipungare in South Africa.

Mr Mamothame said the families then travelled to the neighbouring country where the accused handed herself over to the police.
“She later led the police to the three different pit latrines where she had thrown the body parts, six years ago,” he said.
“An investigation by the police is underway and they managed to retrieve a skull and bones which will be subjected to DNA tests.”

Mnangagwa Finishes Opposition, Gives Them Top Government Posts

By A Correspondent- In a move aimed at dismantling the country’s opposition Zanu PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed MDC-T Member of Parliament Priscillia Misihairabwi-Mushonga as Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Sweden.

Mnangagwa made the appointment on Friday, which the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Misheck Sibanda, announced in a Statutory Instrument of a Government Gazette.

Victory For Mnangagwa As Court Orders Mugabe’s Exhumation

By A Correspondent-President Emmerson Mnangagwa has won his battle with the late President Robert Mugabe’s family, in which he was fighting for the exhumation of the body of the late ruler.

Grobbelaar Eyes Warriors Coaching Post

Facts About Peptic Ulcer Disease

PRESIDENT CHAMISA: IT’S A NEW DIRECTION -Every Vote Matters

By Nelson Chamisa

Nelson Chamisa

Two decades ago, a diverse range of people and groups came together to build a glorious movement that would play a significant role in shaping the governance of our country.

Harare Poly Student Hangs Self Over Girlfriend

By A Correspondent- A student from Harare Polytechnic committed suicide after his girlfriend of 4-years eloped to another man.

The deceased body of 27-year-old Takudzwa Chifamba was found hanging at his friend’s house in the same suburb in Highfield.

Battery acid, rat poison and a piece of rope were found next to his body.

Takudzwa decided to take his own life when he discovered that his girlfriend (only identified as Christine) had eloped after being  impregnated by another man.

Family spokesperson Brian Chifamba confirmed Takudzwa’s tragic death saying;

“We have been robbed of a loving brother who showed brilliance in most of his works.”

“He failed to receive immediate counselling after he learnt about his lover’s pregnancy for another man,” he said.

He reportedly left a suicide note at Christine’s house and also sent similar notes to some of his friends.

In the suicide note,Takudzwa wrote that he regretted giving his love to Christine. He also revealed that  there was a book with a written agreement with Christine to marry.

Before he committed suicide he tried to reach out to some of his friends but unfortunately they were not available. They only got to see his messages after he had passed on.

Social media influencer Wellence Mujuru urged boys and men to stop chosing suicide as an alternative but address their mental health matters through confiding and seeking help from others.

Man Escapes Death By A Whisker After 16yr Old Grandson’s Discipline

By A Correspondent- A 53 year old man from Makokoba suburb in Bulawayo escaped death by a whisker after he was allegedly struck with an iron bar several times all over body by his 16-year-old grandson who claimed he was disciplining him for being stubborn.

Alexander Maphosa was injured after he was allegedly assaulted by his grandson Tonderai Musavengana at their home in Makokoba suburb.

Circumstances are that on 4 September 2021 and at around 8pm Tonderai went into his grandfather‘s bedroom making noise.

His grandfather reportedly asked him to lower his voice and at the same time asked him the purpose of his visit to his bedroom.

In response, Tonderai reportedly told him that he had come to discipline him for being stubborn.

It is alleged that he then took an iron bar which he used to strike his grandfather several times all over the body.

The grandfather sustained injuries as a result of the savage attack and was taken to Mpilo Hospital for treatment. The matter was reported to the police leading to Tonderai’s arrest.

For the offence he has since appeared in court charged with physical abuse as defined in Section 3 (1) (a) as read with Section 4 of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter 5:16.

He was not asked to plead and was remanded out of custody to 17 September 2021.

Teenager’s Corpse Found In Toilet

By A Correspondent- The body of a Redcliff teenager was in the early hours of Tuesday found hanging in a local church toilet.

Residents from Redcliff’s suburb of Torwood found the body of Tinotenda Gundira in a toilet after the 15-year-old school dropout had gone missing.

Redcliff councillor Maxin Dabvu confirmed the incident.

Dabvu, however, said Gundira’s death remained a mystery.

“It’s very sad and tragic that we have lost such a young life under such unclear circumstances,” he said.

According to Dabvu, the community is convinced Gundira might have been murdered.

“We suspect the now deceased could have been murdered in a suspected artisanal mining fight and then they hung his body in the church’s toilet so that it would appear as if he had committed suicide,” said Dabvu.

The now deceased was involved in illegal coal mining within Zisco Steel environs.

“Due to unemployment, many youngsters have turned to various ways of survival, some of which is dangerous. Following the closure of Zisco Steel life has been tough for the Redcliff residents, but particularly tougher for the youths,” said Dabvu.

Zim Robber Nabbed In SA

By A Correspondent- A Zimbabwean robber has been arrested along with three South Africans for unleashing a reign of terror on motorists using the N1 Highway. The N1 is a major commercial road that links South Africa with its neighbours north of the Limpopo and Zambezi rivers including Angola, DRC, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said the gang would use spikes to immobilise vehicles before robbing motorists of valuables at gunpoint.

He said in response, police launched a sting operation to eliminate the criminals. “Four suspects Brighton Chauke (51), Paul Mudzingwa (47) the Zimbabwean, Tshepiso Relela (32) and Percy Chauke (32) have since been arrested in connection with the highway robberies,” said Brig Mojapelo.

The four appeared at the Mokopane Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged for robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of firearm and ammunition, and contravention of Immigration Act. They were all remanded in custody to September 17 pending further police investigations.

Brig Mojapelo said a team comprising the Mokopane Crime Prevention, Modimolle Dog Unit, Mokopane CIG, Detectives, Limpopo Tracking Team, Limpopo Provincial investigation unit, and the Heritage Protection Group, successfully tracked down the suspects. He said the suspects were found in possession of spikes packed in a bag, several firearms and ammunition, a vehicle sponsored by the department of social development, a 303 riffle with a sound suppressor, a police reflector jacket, cell phones, watches, router, all-star tekkies, and a laptop.

He said two of the suspects were arrested on Tuesday in Mabopane outside Pretoria. “One was found to be an undocumented foreign national and the other is a volunteer at the victim support centre at Rietgat SAPS. The other two were arrested on Monday 6 September 2021. More arrests are expected,” said Brig Mojapelo. The N1 highway has of late become a den of armed robbers targeting light vehicle motorists, commercial trucks, and cross-border buses.

With respect to Zimbabwean cross-border buses, criminals were now boarding the buses using fake names or stolen Zimbabwean passports pretending to be genuine travellers. After boarding the buses mainly in Pretoria, they then attack the passengers on the stretch between Hammanskraal and Polokwane.

Of late, Zimbabwean cross-border buses have become a target of violent crimes between Pretoria and Polokwane. Over 15 buses have been attacked by armed gangs in the last three years.

RG’s Office Reopens To The Public

By A Correspondent- The Registrar General (RG’s) Office has reopened to the public after having scaled down operations when the country recorded a spike in Covid-19 infections. Covid-19 cases increased towards the end of June resulting in President Mnangagwa imposing a tightened Level Four national lockdown.

At the peak of Covid-19 cases, the registry was mainly issuing burial orders. Issuance of birth certificates, passports and IDs were suspended during the intensified lockdown as Government had decongested the workplace to 20 percent.

President Mnangagwa on Tuesday reviewed the national lockdown from Level Four to Level Two and among the new measures, business is now operating between 8am and 7pm while the work place operates with 50 percent capacity.

The relaxation of lockdown regulations has seen the Civil Registry Department, commonly known as RG’s Office, increasing its services to the public and has started accepting passport applications, issuing births certificates and IDs.

A news crew observed passport seekers yesterday queuing to be attended to at the Passport Office in Bulawayo. Residents, however, expressed disappointment as only a handful of applicants were being attended to.

The public said officials told them that they were screening and prioritising emergency cases among the documents’ seekers.

“We are told that they started serving the public yesterday but only a few people are being attended to at the moment. I don’t know if it’s true that they are only serving 20 people per day and if we consider the number of applicants who are here, they will take months to attend to all of us. We have been waiting for the Passport Office to reopen but this is seriously underwhelming for us. Government should consider increasing the number of people being attended per day,” said a resident who identified herself as Mrs Nkomo.

In an interview, Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Deputy Minister Ruth Maboyi said the reopening of the RG’s Office to the public is in line with the reviewed lockdown measures.

“The RG’s Office had reduced its operations owing to the increase in Covid-19 cases. But since the cases have decreased it has reopened and we expect it to attend to as many people as possible and attend to their national documentation issues,” said Deputy Minister Maboyi.

She said the RG’s Office would gradually increase its services to the public and attend to existing backlogs. A comment could not be immediately obtained from the acting Registrar-General Mr Henry Machiri as his cellphone rang unanswered.

Mr Machiri is on record having said that Covid-19 has created a national documents backlog. Cabinet on Tuesday said the RG’s Office is expected to conduct a mobile national documentation exercise targeting the San community in Tsholotsho on Monday.

Briefing a post-Cabinet media briefing, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said the registration of 3 000 members of the San community would be conducted without hassles.

Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe recently told Chronicle that digital transformation of the Civil Registry Department would be completed by the end of December and will contribute to improved access of national documents.

Government partnered with a private partner to transform the registry into a modern department and would create a national biometric database for citizens and production of e-passports.

The deal is expected to enable diaspora-based citizens to acquire national documents including passports from where they are. At the moment, members of the public are struggling to obtain documentation with long winding queues being the order of the day, especially in major cities.

Recently, the RG’s Office had to call off a national identity registration exercise targeting Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council Ordinary Level candidates after its offices were thronged by hundreds of ID seekers.

The country is battling to clear a passport backlog of 225 747 with some passports applied for as far back as March 2019.

Love Muti Will Cause After Effects, Pastors Warn Congregants

Isaac Makomichi

Morgan Zvemangororo
The city of Masvingo has become a place to go for those who are looking for business charms and the so called oil for “riches.”

This comes after Masvingo controversial preacher Isaac Makomichi introduced what he calls the anointed herb.

He claims the herb makes anyone rich…

Various church leaders have described Makomichi as a sangoma.

“We have heard a lot about this oil, of course it works but this thing might cause disaster in future. He is helping people with extra ordinary charms but that doesn’t make him a true man of God. He must introduce himself as a sangoma,”claimed one senior church leader.

Makomichi’s followers claim he is mending their marriages and boosting their businesses.

They also say a man from the devil’s kingdom cannot help someone to have a peaceful life.

People questioned his authenticity after he wrote to the government officials seeking permission to move Marimba mountain. Weeks later he reportedly filled empty wells with water .

There are reports that people flock to Makomichi’s house to collect the oil…

“Moses used a herb heal sour waters, can you say Moses was a sangoma? A herb that works is better than the water that doesn’t produce good results. I’m open to every pastor, if you see a demon in me then come and cast it out or call me on +263777469342.

I always tell them to come or to invite me for prayers. They are powerless…

Exodus 15:25 Then Moses cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood.He threw it into the water, and the water became fit to drink,”

By A Correspondent| Top lawyer Professor Lovemore Madhuku has rescued a Harare motorist who rammed into Zimbabwe Defence Forces Commander, General Phillip Valerio Sibanda’s motorcade along Samora Machel Avenue last week.

The motorist Sinoia Desmond was sentenced to 12 months in jail for negligent driving but Madhuku who is also the President of the National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) party was able to argue for him to be granted bail pending appeal.

Assisted by Tawanda Takaendesa, Madhuku argued that the lower court “improperly exercised its discretion in respect of sentence in that an effective sentence of 12 months imprisonment is so manifestly excessive and so disturbingly inappropriate in all the circumstances of this case as not only to induce a sense of shock but also as an instance of an exercise in irrationality.”

Justice Webster Chinamhora of the Harare High Court said Sinoia Desmond’s appeal had bright prospects of success as he ordered him released on Z$50,000 bail.

Madhuku and Takaendesa also said having decided on an effective custodial sentence of less than 24 months, the magistrate grossly misdirected herself and erred at law in imposing a custodial sentence without giving serious consideration to a non-custodial sentence such as a fine or community service.

The lawyers said the Road Traffic Act (Chapter 31:11) provides for a penalty of a fine or imprisonment for the crime of reckless driving, but Mateko improperly exercised her discretion in imposing imprisonment with giving full consideration to the option of a fine.

Desmond’s trial heard that just before 5PM on August 23, he was driving on a side road parallel to Samora Machel Avenue going towards Msasa with one passenger.

Desmond failed to give way at the intersection of Samora Machel and Glenara Avenue and ploughed into the side of Sibanda’s Mercedes Benz driven by Mandlenkosi Mpofu.

General Sibanda was sitting at the back and on the left side which was impacted by Desmond’s vehicle. Sibanda’s aide, Squadron Leader Mark Pride Mangwende, was the other passenger in the Mercedes.

No-one was injured in the crash but prosecutor Caroline Mutimusakwa – who argued for a custodial sentence – said General Sibanda was “almost killed”, adding: “Desmond wanted to plunge the nation into mourning by killing the commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces.

“He was negligent for failing to observe a regulatory provision, failing to give way at a Give Way sign, travelling at a speed which was excessive under the circumstances and failing to stop or act reasonably when accident or collision seemed imminent.”

Quartet Barge Into Home, Steal US$1

By A Correspondent- Four armed robbers, who had covered their faces with balaclavas, smashed a bedroom window and got into the bedroom before tying family members with a wire and stealing electrical goods and US$1.

The incident happened this week on Wednesday shortly after 4am at a Montgomery plot in Bulawayo.

A source told B-Metro that four armed robbers, who were wearing balaclavas and armed with a machete, wire and axe, smashed a bedroom window and thereafter two of the four-member gang, got into the bedroom, while of the other two remained in the yard.

“They found the owner of the house awake. While lying prostrate on the bed, they told him to lie facing downwards and after that they tied his hands with a wire. They went into another room and tied his two cousins with a wire and left them lying on the floor. After that they ransacked the house and took two blankets, TV, decoder, cellphone and car battery,” said a source close to investigations.

They were not done yet as they continued searching for cash, finally stumbling on US$1 that they took before they fled with the loot, said the source.

Thirty minutes later, the owner of the house managed to untie himself and went to the room where his cousins were and untied them. He reported the matter to the police.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.

“I can confirm that a man from Montgomery plot was attacked and robbed by four armed robbers who were wearing balaclavas. We are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the four armed robbers. Anyone with information may contact any nearest police station,” said Insp Ncube.

ZIM COURT FLUSHES OUT ZINWA AND ORDERS RESTORATION OF WATER SUPPLIES

Case Alert

9 September 2021

NYANGA Magistrate Notebulgar Muchineripi has ordered Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) to immediately restore water connection to some premises belonging to a Nyanga man after the water utility had unilaterally disconnected supplies at his premises and resorted to self-help as a way to force him to pay a disputed water bill.

Officials from ZINWA had on 22 August 2021 disconnected water supplies at Chipo Chitowa’s premises located at Nyaruwaka Township in in Nyamaropa located in Nyanga District in Manicaland province without serving him a written notice of the disconnection of water or a court order authorising such action.

In an application filed on his behalf on 24 August 2021 by Moses Chikomo of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, the 51 year-old Chitowa argued that while his payments to ZINWA were up to date, he was shocked to receive a statement from the water utility which indicated that his account had outstanding arrears amounting to ZWL9 339.

Chitowa said he contacted ZINWA officials and registered a complaint over the water bill and they admitted to a potential error and pledged to investigate and advise him of the outcome of their probe.

However, the ZINWA officials never got back to Chitowa as promised and on 22 August 2021 he was surprised when officials from the state-run water utility visited his premises intending to disconnect water supplies and proceeded to do so even though he was not served with a notice of the disconnection of water supplies.

Chitowa protested that ZINWA had resorted to self-help by disconnecting water supplies without a notice or obtaining a court order authorising it to do so since he disputed the amount claimed and that the water utility had admitted to a potential error.

ZINWA’s actions Chitowa said, were unlawful and violated his fundamental right to the enjoyment and use of water as enshrined in Section 77 of the Constitution particularly when he had been diligently paying his water account and is up to date with his payments.

The Nyanga resident argued that while ZINWA has a right to collect its debts, it cannot do so by resorting to unlawful means.

He also argued that he together with other people at his premises had been exposed to unhygienic conditions since they can no longer use toilets, wash hands nor access safe drinking water as part of practising health and safety precautions necessary to curb the
outbreak and spread of coronavirus.

In response to the application, Magistrate Muchineripi ordered ZINWA to restore water supplies at Chitowa’s premises and ruled that if supplies are not restored within 24 hours after service of his order, the Messenger of Court would be empowered to restore water supplies at a cost which would be borne by the water utility.

In compliance with the court order, ZINWA officials restored water supplies at Chitowa’s premises.

“Zanu Pf Kids Are More Zanu Pf Than Their Fathers”: Prof Jonathan Moyo

By A Correspondent- Exiled former Cabinet minister Jonathan Moyo has opined that many grown-up kids with Zanu-PF parents are more Zanu-PF than their parents.

Prof Moyo said this on his Twitter page.

“AN UNTOLD but deep seated sociological truth about Zimbabwe today is that many grown up kids with ZanuPF parents are more ZanuPF than their parents. Therefore, Zimbabwe does not only need new leaders but it needs a Martin Luther King Jr. or a Kenneth Kaunda. God bless everyone!”

Drunkard Son In Law Hauled To Court Over Indecent Dressing

By A Correspondent- A woman rushed to Western Commonage Civil Court to seek an eviction order against her drunkard son-in-law who does not respect her as he moves around her house wearing boxer shorts.

Boxer strip down..man exposes self to mother in law

He also verbally abuses her.

Sithulisiwe Mafu (56) said she regrets letting her son-in-law, Arnold Mpofu (29), move in. She said when she was approached by her daughter, who is married to Arnold, asking to put up at her place, she agreed and allowed them to stay at her cottage.

She said after about a month her son-in-law started doing gardening wearing only a boxer short and that prompted her to engage her daughter to talk to him, but her efforts fell on deaf ears because he did not change.

Mafu was left with no choice but to confront Mpofu, but things got worse as he started coming home drunk and insulting her.

She decided to turn to the courts.

“I’m applying for a protection order against my son-in-law whom I’m staying with because when he is relaxing at home or doing gardening he would be wearing a boxer short. I have told him on countless times that culturally it is taboo to wear a boxer short in the presence of your mother-in-law, but he would go to a booze when he returns in the evening he would shout at me while accusing me of ill- treating him saying he is paying rent he has a right to wear as he pleases,” said Mafu.

Mpofu said: “I wore a boxer short because I took Mafu as my mother and I saw nothing wrong by wearing a boxer short.”

The presiding magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja granted Mafu the eviction order which compels Mpofu to move out of the house after three months. In addition to that he was ordered not to verbally abuse his mother-in-law and to dress decently since he was still staying at her house. -B Metro

Senior Army Chef Dies Mysteriously

By A Correspondent- A former top Zimbabwe National Army officer has been found dead at his home.

Retired Colonel Patrick Tawona Maponga was found dead at his home in Magunje on Tuesday morning. He was 60.

Maponga was a veteran of Zimbabwe’s war of independence. He lost his wife early this year.

According to a Hurungwe war veteran member, Don Nxele, the late Maponga was among freedom fighters who took the land reform seriously.

He said Maponga was first allocated a plot at the Nassau Farm near Karoi in 2001, but later moved to Mshowe Pools in Hurungwe East constituency in 2003. Said Nxele:

I remember that he was among the few freedom fighters who took farming as a business.

In 2004, he hosted African senior army officers who wanted to understand how the land reform was benefitting indigenous people at Mshowe Pools Farm.

Some came from Egypt, South Africa, Namibia and other Southern Africa countries. By then, he was into wheat and maize production.
Of late, Maponga had ventured into cattle rearing, horticulture, poultry and crocodile farming.

Maponga joined the liberation struggle at a tender age and was trained in Tanzania. He rose through the ranks to become an instructor in Mozambique before independence.

He was integrated into the Zimbabwe National Army soon after independence. He was among the soldiers deployed in Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo as an instructor.

At one time, he was deployed at Magunje 2.3 Infantry Battalion before he voluntarily retired in 1997.
Burial arrangements are still yet to be announced.
He is survived by eight children

MDC Alliance Confronts ZEC Over Voter Registration Process

By A Correspondent- The Nelson Chamisa led MDC Alliance has confronted the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) over the voter registration process.

The party reached out to Registrar General’s office and complained about ZEC’s failure to register new voters especially the youths.

“The existing facilities are underutilised, and it is clear that no system is responsive to reality on the ground, which are the issues we are highlighting. We are, therefore, proposing that all of us put sufficient pressure on ZEC to do what they are capable of doing by the law, and we wonder why they are not doing it.

In 2017, when the BVR (Biometric Voter Registration) was introduced, we had enough registration kits. Those kits are now gathering dust and it is a shame that we collectively allow that kind of thing to continue”, MDC Alliance Secretary for elections Ian Makone told journalists in Harare at a press conference.

Makone called on both ZEC and the registrar’s offices to decentralise their operations to enable citizens to acquire identification documents and register to vote.

Party spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said the MDC Alliance’s focus was assisting the youths in registering to vote.

” Our clear message for the young is to register to vote. Once you register to vote, the kind of change we promise is change that actually services your needs,” said Mahere.

Woman Kills Live In Lover, Buries Body In Mountain

Zimnat Launches Motor Vehicle Assessment Centre With Simulated Accident

accident

Zimnat General Insurance today (Thursday) launched its first Motor Vehicle Assessment
Centre with a head turning simulation of an accident along Leopold Takawira Street in
Harare, opposite Parirenyatwa Hospital.

The centre has been established so that its clients no longer have to look for quotations when submitting a motor vehicle insurance claim, if their vehicle is involved in an accident.

The centre, the first of its kind, provides vehicle assessment services for all Zimnat clients. It is a one-stop-shop for quotations and vehicle assessment. This means Zimnat clients no
longer need to worry about looking for quotations. Zimnat will do this for them as part of the service it provides for its motor insurance clients.

It will also offer them the use of a courtesy car for two days free of charge. The launch accident simulation was dramatic, with one of the cars involved in the supposed
accident hanging down from a tree.

Zimnat group marketing executive Tatenda Marongwe said this was intended to illustrate that no matter what happens or how bad the accident, Zimnat will look after its clients and make life better for them by taking their car immediately to its assessment centre and offering them a courtesy vehicle for use whilst their car is being assessed for repairs.

The Assessment Centre starts assisting its clients from the accident scene once they have
contacted Zimnat’s toll-free contact centre, which is available 24-hours-a-day, to advise it of the accident, its location and their details.

Towing services arranged by the Assessment Centre and the courtesy car are complimentary services that will be availed to all eligible Zimnat customers. Zimnat will also assess the accident damaged vehicles, authorise repairs and oversee the repair quality.

Zimnat General Insurance chief executive Stanley Mazorodze said that the Assessment
Centre has been established to make life easier for customers by ensuring they are provided with the best possible service during the motor insurance claims process.

“We know that being involved in an accident is a traumatic experience. We want to make the accident insurance claims process as simple and as easy as possible.

“We had already simplified it a great deal. We have now further simplified it by taking over
from our clients the responsibility for obtaining quotations for vehicle repairs. We have made our motor insurance claims process exceptionally easy by delivering all services under one roof.

“We want to make certain that our clients receive the best service and the best quality of
repairs for their vehicles when they make a claim through Zimnat,” he said.

Mustafa Sachak, the Zimnat group chief executive, said the company was continuously
looking for ways to make life better for its customers. That was why it had become a
‘company of firsts’.

reduce stress for our customers in the unfortunate event of an accident,” he said.

“We can never tire of living up to our purpose,” commented Ms Marongwe. “Our aim is to
make life better for others. This advertising campaign is intended to increase awareness of the many ways in which we can do this even in the unfortunate event of an accident,” she said.

ZIFA In Quandary Over Logarusic

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is in a difficult situation in coming up with a replacement for Warriors coach Zdravko Logarušic in the event they decide to fire him as is expected.

Reports suggest that the Croat is set to be sacked when the ZIFA board meets on Saturday to review the Warriors’ performance against South Africa (nil-all draw) and Ethiopia (0-1 defeat), respectively.

Logarusic won a single match in his 14 games at the helm of the senior men’s team and fans are baying for his blood.

There have been suggestions that ZIFA will get rid of Logarušic and replace him with a local coach, but the pool to choose from is quite limited

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza would have been a natural replacement for Logarušic, but his club, which is participating in the CAF Champions League, is likely to block the move.

Hiring Mapeza is also complicated by the fact that ZIFA owes him money from previous stints as national team coach and he would likely demand his dues first before committing to a new arrangement.

ZIFA are currently broke after they squandered all the money received from FIFA and CAF over the course of the year.

Former Warriors interim coach Joey Antipas, who presided over the Warriors’ first two matches in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and picked four points, does not hold the required qualifications.

A short term solution would be the appointment of either Tonderai Ndiraya or Lloyd Chitembwe who are both assistants to Logarušic.

There are some board members though who are defending Logarusic arguing that it would be hard to replace him.

They also contend that Logarušic has been unlucky in the campaign, especially with the blocking of United Kingdom-based players from travelling to Zimbabwe for the matches due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

“Complement Voter Registration With Electoral Reforms”: ERC

As citizens continue to motivate each other to register to vote, the Election Resource Centre (ERC) reminds the nation that for the people’s will to be reflected in the outcome of any election, there is a need to strengthen electoral processes which are accepted by all and sundry.

Zimbabwe’s elections have in the past suffered a credibility test which has resulted in the electorate losing confidence in the electoral system. For Zimbabwe to increase the credibility of elections, there needs to be an urgent need to address the following five (5) key areas:

1-Public Broadcaster and Media Coverage: All political parties must be granted equal media coverage by the public broadcasters and publishers. This ensures that citizens have access to information on all political parties and candidates contesting in elections as supported by the electoral laws.

The media plays an important role in helping citizens to hold elected officials accountable thus access to information by voters and equal access to the electorate by parties and candidates is important and must be objective.

2-The Conduct of Traditional Leaders: As per the dictates of the Constitution of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Traditional leaders must not further the interests of any political party or candidate or in any way participate in partisan politics. Compliance with the law is of paramount importance in order to ensure a balanced political and electoral environment.

Traditional leaders should, instead, facilitate equitable access to communities by all parties canvassing for support and ensure that the voter has access to information necessary to make an informed decision at the polls.

3- Independence of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC):- In administering its constitutional mandate to oversee elections, ZEC must be impartial and independent. ZEC’s activities, decisions and roles MUST not be influenced by anyone. More so, there ought to be transparency and accountability (responsibility to justify actions or decisions) to citizens, political parties and independent observers.

Ensuring verifiability (demonstration of accuracy beyond reasonable doubt) and inclusivity (providing equal access) of processes will enhance public confidence in the Commission. These processes extend to voter mobilisation and education, ballot printing, results transmission and political parties and civil society engagement.

4-Conduct of The Security Services: Security services must be professional, respect the rule of law and ensure that the electoral and political environment remains conducive for free and fair elections. The security services must respect the fundamental rights and freedoms of all persons and be non-partisan, national in character, patriotic, professional and subordinate to the civilian authority as established by the Constitution, (Constitution 211 (3).

5-Election Dispute Resolution (Mechanisms): There is a need to create accessible and functional mechanisms that ensure that electoral disputes are resolved, strengthening confidence and ensuring the credibility of electoral processes.

ZEC, ZRP and ZHRC must ensure compliance with criminal and electoral justice systems including fair investigation and immediate redress of complaints and reports of violence.

The mechanism of Multi-Party Liaison Committees must be decentralised to lower levels from the current national and provincial tiers.

Conclusively, voter registration should be complemented with the implementation of electoral reforms

George Charamba Nakedly Shares Video of Mnangagwa Aide Saying ZANU PF Is Now Dead

George-Charamba

By Farai D Hove | It never rains but pours for the man who betrayed President Robert Mugabe, George Charamba who yesterday publicly shared a video that nakedly displays his new boss, Emmerson Mnangagwa for transforming members of the public into bus passengers, in contrast to the Ian Smith style in which blacks were raised to multi millionaire status so they can own whole bus fleet companies.

Charamba publicly distributed the below video (transcript) in which a man, believed to be his agent, pleads with the masses to join his party ZANU PF on the basis of a few hundred ZUPCO buses.

The unnamed agent is heard even admitting to doubts on ZANU PF’s existence in 2021. The man screams out while trying to convince the public that his party is not dead.

“The party is still there; we are still in need of people,” says the man.

He says in full:

ZPCS Officers Stage Protest

By A Correspondent- About 400 Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) officers undergoing different specialist training at Ntabazinduna in Matabeleland North province reportedly staged a protest on Monday over the poor quality of food.

NewsDay reported sources as saying the situation got out of hand when the officers were served with a poorly-prepared meal for dinner.

Moreover, authorities have barred them from buying their own food outside the school perimeter, citing COVID-19. Said one of the trainees:

There is no food here. The little that we get is poorly cooked, yet they don’t allow us to go out of the schoolyard to buy supplementary food. Their canteen is empty.

Tension also rose when the trainees were forced to buy a simple T-shirt for $1 600 and a tracksuit for $4 500.

A meeting was held on Monday afternoon to resolve the uniform issue but there was an impasse as the trainees insisted that they didn’t have enough money to buy training uniforms.

The training is for three months and there are three training categories that include police training and security drawn from serving members.

When contacted for comment by NewsDay, the acting Commandant at Ntabazinduna Prisons Training School Chief Superintendent Priscilla Mthembo denied that there were protests at the depot.

She said:

As a training school for ZPCS, our trainees, correctional officers will never participate in any demonstration of any nature.

We offer a two-way communication channel between the management of the school and trainees and we have never had any complaints pertaining to food or tracksuits.

Our trainees and officers at large are very much aware of the proper channels to air their grievances.

So the allegations of students demonstrating or complaints about food or students being forced to buy expensive tracksuits are not true.

The school management will always be available to assist trainees in various areas of need as they undergo these important training programmes.

Chief Refuses To Step Down

By A Correspondent- The Negomo chieftainship has sparked a lot of pandemonium after the incumbent acting chief Luscious Chitsinde is allegedly refusing to step down despite acting for over a decade.

Today the Negomo clan sat down and decided to appoint Paradzai Kutyauripo as the substantive chief at a heated meeting that included part of the government officials and security.

A source familiar to the incident told this publication that Chitsinde was refusing to surrender power and he had hired thugs to disrupt the meeting there by paying them $30 each for the alleged disorderly conduct.

“The meeting was so tense because Chitsinde is refusing to surrender power hence he hired thugs to disrupt the meeting which he paid US$30 each but the plan was exposed in  Chiweshe’s various social media groups  and the thugs feared prosecution despite them milling around the premise with drums,” said the source.

Chitsinde could not be reached for comment as his mobile number was unavailable.

Mashonaland Central Provincial Development Coordinator (PDC) Timothy Tigere confirmed the chaos and said the ministry is waiting for the family to come up with a substantive chief.

“we are waiting for the family to come up with a substantive chief whom they will give to the Chief’s council and the chief council will then inform us of the latest development ,” Tigere explained.

However Chitsinde is well-known for punishing the late Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai after he married in November a taboo in Zimbabwean culture.

Gvt Cracks Whip On Private Schools Over Fees

By A Correspondent- The government has ordered private schools that increased fees without seeking approval to reimburse parents and guardians.

In a statement on Thursday, the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Tumisang Thabela, warned those behind the illegal hikes that they risk being jailed.

This comes after some private schools increased fees by up to 100 per cent and most have been demanding cash up front, refusing payment terms in settling the fees.

No school, private, council or Government-run, is allowed to increase school fees without the approval of the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.

Thabela said the Education Act states that fees or levies being charged by non-governmental schools should be approved by the secretary.

She said according to the Act, offenders shall be fined or jailed for a period not exceeding six months or be liable to both a fine and imprisonment. Thabela said:

Schools that had charged unapproved fees and levies should revert back to approved fees and levies and reimburse parents accordingly.

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education continues to strive to provide quality, relevant, inclusive, equitable and wholesome education for all Zimbabweans.

She also said when seeking approval for increasing fees, the increment must be justified. She added:

The permanent secretary shall not approve any increase of fees or levies sought in respect of the next term of the non-Government schools unless the increase of such fees and levies are justified by reference to some basis other than the application of the consumer price index, and the proposal to increase fees or levies has been approved by a majority of the parents at a meeting of the School Parents Assembly attended by not less than twenty per cent of the parents.

Zimra Intercepts 53 Smuggled Cars

By A Correspondent- The High Court has blocked the release by Zimra of vehicles imported by 53 people as it is suspected they were brought into the country using fake import licences in what is a far-reaching swathe of sneaky dealings in the vehicle import business.

Zimra is holding a large batch of vehicles at the behest of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, which is investigating several of its officials on allegations of corruptly issuing import licences for older second-hand vehicles.

More than eight import licence books went missing in April this year.

The 53 vehicle importers, among them car dealers, had approached the High Court on an urgent basis seeking to compel Zimra to release their vehicles.
They listed Zimra, the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission(ZACC) and the Minister of Industry and Commerce as respondents.
But already, some of the import licences have been traced back to the missing licence books, the High Court was told and so Justice Esther Muremba ruled the application was not urgent and tossed it out.
In her ruling, Justice Muremba said the vehicles were imported using fake licences and were still under investigation by ZACC.

“There was no compliance with the law. It does not matter that the applicants might have not played any role in the issuance of the fake import licences,” she said.
In opposing the application, ZACC said it was investigating a case of corruption regarding the vehicles, arguing they were subjects of illegal import licences or permits.
Although it was the Ministry officials who issued the illegal import licences, it was argued that the investigations were being done to establish whether or not there was connivance with the applicants.
On its part, the ministry argued that the import licences that were used to import the applicants’ vehicles are fake, and so the detention of the vehicles was justified at law.
Justice Muremba in the ruling found the explanation that was given by the Industry Minister for suspecting collusion between the applicants and the Ministry officials who issued fake import licences was sound.
“Clearly from the foregoing, the relief that is being sought by the applicants is such that it cannot be sought on an urgent basis in view of the investigations that are still on going,” she said.

“This is one case where preferential treatment of applicants’ case is not possible because investigations into fake import licences have not yet completed by the second and third respondents (ZACC and the Industry Ministry).”
Justice Muremba said non-legal remedies might have worked well for the applicants before they rushed to court. They could have worked with ZACC to expedite investigations.
She said the applicants could not rush to court to enforce an illegality.
“Clearly the applicants jumped the gun and there cannot be any urgency in the matter,” said the judge striking the matter from the roll of urgent matters.
The applicants all paid import duty and the vehicles were delivered into the country through Beitbridge Border Post. At the instance of Zimra, the vehicles were delivered to different bonded warehouses or transit sheds for storage. That is where the applicants were supposed to collect them.
However, when the applicants went to collect their vehicles, they were not allowed to collect them because the import licences which they used to import the vehicles were said to be under investigations. Government this year, introduced Statutory Instrument I89, which barred imports of motor vehicles that are more than 10 years old from the date of manufacture without clearance.

Chiefs Nearly Exchange Blows At Funeral

By A Correspondent- The long standing feud between Chiefs Council president Chief Fortune Charumbira and newly installed Chief Nemamwa recently escalated at a funeral when representatives from the two chieftaincies nearly exchanged blows over legitimacy issues.

During Serina Mangoma’s funeral in Nyoka Village near Chief Charumbira’s homestead last weekend, Charumbira clansmen disrupted the funeral programme and threatened to bash the Nemamwa chieftaincy representative Munyaradzi Mureyi who had been asked to give a speech.

The director of ceremonies called Mureyi to give a speech on behalf of Chief Nemamwa since the deceased was from the Nemamwa clan, much to the displeasure of the Charumbira clansmen who insisted they did not recognize the Nemamwa chieftainship.

Speaking to TellZim News after the incident, Mureyi said the program had been progressing smoothly until Mureyi was called him to speak on behalf of Chief Nemamwa and that is when Cephas Marashanye who is originally from Nemamwa but is a Charumbira sympathiser threatened to bash him if he speaks.

“Marashanye stood up and told me not to speak, at first I thought he wanted to speak himself since he is originally from Nemamwa but is a Charumbira sympathiser. I told him to speak instead but he said there was no Chief Nemamwa.

He then came and pushed me around and other people from Chief Charumbira’s side rose and threatened joined in shouting that there was no Nemamwa. I was pushed from around and I think it was a pre planed thing.

I later on managed to escape and the Director of ceremonies had to skip the chief’s part. I have since reported the matter to the police.”said Mureyi

Chief Charumbira confirmed the incident and said he was not there but saw videos of the clash and said the incident was not a new thing.

“I can confirm that there was an incident at a funeral involving people from Charumbira and Nemamwa.  I was not there but I got videos of what happened and it is normal where there are chieftaincy issues.

Chief Charumbira rubbished the resuscitation of Nemamwa chieftainship saying it was a fraud which has no legal basis to support it.

“However, the issue emanates from the politics at play that seeks to make  Nemamwa a chief. The move is irregular and illegal at law. It has no merit and they have no basis whatsoever,” said Charumbira.

He went on to say they were ready to contest it up to the highest court.

“We as the Charumbira people will contest that at the highest level. There are no records to show that Nemamwa was once a chief so there is nothing to revive. However, It is normal for a headman or village head to dream to become a Chief and the Nemamwa people were also dreaming.

“Nemamwa has been Headman since time immemorial and no one is interfering with that. If he wants to be a chief, he has to follow protocol and see if there is any basis for that. He was supposed to come to me as the Chief to tell me or go through the government which in turn would notify me,” said Charumbira.

Masvingo Provincial Development Coordinator (PDC), Dr Jefta Sakupwanya said he was not aware of the incident but said incidents of that nature are common between rival chiefs and revealed that the installation of Chief Nemamwa was imminent.

He said the installation of Nemamwa was stalled by the covid-19 induced lockdown saying if the situation improves they will sit with the chief’s council and deliberate on the way forward.

“It is quite normal to have such incidents. We however do not encourage people to engage in violence. We are waiting for the Covid-19 induced lockdown to be lifted, then we meet with the provincial chief’s council to discuss  the way forward.

“We are also waiting for a team from Harare that will draw the boundary lines between the feuding chiefs,” said Dr Sakupwanya.

The Charumbira clansmen are not new to controversy as they have been involved in battles against Bere clansmen before and after installation of Chief Bere.

A few years ago, government resuscitated Bere chieftaincy, a move that saw Charumbira losing a large portion of his land to Bere.

The revival and elevation of Nemamwa from headman to chief further threatens the survival of Charumbira who now presides over a few wards which lowers him to a headman.

The Second Republic is on a drive to solve colonial historical ‘anomalies’ which they say will address the case of Charumbira and Nemamwa, where the former was allegedly given land by the latter and therefore cannot be chief while the one who gave him land is a headman.

The Nemamwa clan has since nominated Tranos Manjiva as their Chief and is awaiting installation.

Government has also restored the Neromwe chieftainship and reclaimed their land from Chief Tshovani in Chiredzi.

Early white settlers on numerous acts of sabotage had abolished some chieftainships and pegged their land for white farmers while the native inhabitants were moved to other places.

Parliament Blocks Unvaccinated MPs

By A Correspondent- The Parliament has announced that unvaccinated legislators will not enter the parliament building.

Deputy Speaker Tsitsi Gezi announced Wednesday that they had tasked security personnel to block any MP showing up without proof they have been inoculated against Covid-19.

“I have to inform the House that the Committee on Standing Rules and Orders met and resolved that physical meetings can now resume for fully vaccinated Members and support staff.
“The production of Covid-19 PCR test certificate is mandatory for unvaccinated Members and staff.
“From 13th September 202, security personnel at the entrance have been instructed to demand vaccination certificates or valid Covid-19 PCR test certificates issued 48 hours earlier and will be valid for each week.”
The Deputy Speaker said a “maximum of 10 persons inclusive of Hon. Members, staff and invitees will be permitted to attend meetings physically in compliance with social distancing guidelines”.
She added, “In the National Assembly and Senate Chambers, the maximum number of persons allowed will be 100 and 80 respectively including support staff. Committees are encouraged to use a hybrid of physical and virtual meetings.
“Chief Whips have to ensure compliance with the requirements of allowable Hon. Members. Committees will determine those to attend either physically or virtually.”
Those who will not be accommodated in Committee Rooms or Chambers will participate from their hotel rooms.
Zimbabwe is keep to notch a vaccination herd immunity of 10 million citizens by end of year.
However, due to continued reluctance by citizens to show up for the free inoculation programme, government and some local firms have used the production of vaccination certificates as a condition for one to access allowances, sit for examinations or sit for a meal in a restaurant, among some of the conditions.

Madhuku Rescues Harare Man Who Rammed Into Valerio Sibanda’s Motorcade

High Court Blocks The Release Of 53 Smuggled Cars

Norton Man Hides 14-Year-Old Wife, Goes Into Hibernation

By A Correspondent- A Norton man has hidden his 14-year-old wife before going into hibernation, fearing arrest.

Tapiwa Muza went into hiding after the police launched a manhunt on him for impregnating his 14-year-old girlfriend.

The girl’s mother, who is based in South Africa, heard about her daughter’s pregnancy and threatened to take legal action against Muza, who stays with his grandmother in Glaudina.

Muza told H-Metro that he is living in fear over the threats of arrest he received and was at a safe house in Domboshava.

The girl’s mother told the same publication that she approached Dzivaresekwa police station for assistance with a view to taking her daughter from Muza.

She claimed Muza forced her daughter to switch off her mobile phone and instructed her to go to Chitungwiza where she collected her belongings and disappeared to an unknown place after they learnt that she (the mother) was in the country.

She said:

That forced me to seek guidance from police at Dzivaresekwa and the officers led me to Glaudina where Muza and the daughter were reported to have been in hiding.

I cannot allow my daughter to marry at that age and I am prepared to take her.

Muza’s uncle Elisha Marumahoko said the girl’s mother instructed them to keep the girl away from Muza until she arrives in the country. Said Marumahoko:

I was shocked to see her coming in the company of police officers demanding to see the girl and Muza.

Muza is in Domboshava and the whereabouts of the girl is not known since the day she went to her mother in Chitungwiza.

We are aware that Muza impregnated a minor and it’s a case but the girl’s mother failed to be honest with her real decision.

Muza confirmed to H-Metro that he was staying in Domboshava and living in fear. He said:

I am prepared to marry the girl… I am not abusing her as alleged but I fear arrest over impregnating the minor.

The mother also revealed that she separated from her daughter’s father when she was only two years old.

The issue of child marriages has been in the spotlight of late after Annah Machaya, a 14-year-old girl, died during childbirth at a Johanne Marange Apostolic sect shrine in Bocha.

Anna’s husband, Hatirarami “Evans” Momberume was arrested and his cases are pending before the courts.

Woman Kills Lover, Burns Body

Chamisa exposes Chigumba’s 2023 Election Rigging Plan

Reforms A Must Before Polls- Election Resource Centre

Grobbelaar Ready To Coach Warriors

Senior Army Officer Dies Mysteriously

George Charamba Nakedly Shares Video Exposing Mnangagwa Bribing Masses Turning Povo Into Passengers Instead Of Owners (Ian Smith Simple)

Zim Ambassador To Iran Dies

Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Iran, Christopher Mapanga, has died, several media reports have claimed.

Mapanga reportedly died on Wednesday evening but the cause of death has not been revealed. Reports claim he was suffering from liver disease.

According to MEHR News Agency, the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran issued a statement on Thursday saying that the Ambassador of Zimbabwe to the Islamic Republic of Iran had died.

The statement said that after receiving information about the tragic death of the Ambassador of Zimbabwe in the Islamic Republic of Iran, in coordination with law enforcement and judicial authorities, the necessary measures to identify and carry out legal formalities were quickly taken.

It also said that the necessary arrangements have been made in coordination with the Zimbabwean Embassy in Tehran.

It’s the second death of a foreign diplomat in Tehran in less than six months.

In May, Iranian police started investigating the death of a Swiss diplomat who died after reportedly falling from a high rise in Tehran.

The Swiss woman, in her 50s, fell from the upper floors of a 20-story building in which she lived in northern Tehran, the state-run IRNA news agency reported.

Man Strips Down To Underwear Before Own Mother In Law

A woman rushed to Western Commonage Civil Court to seek an eviction order against her drunkard son-in-law who does not respect her as he moves around her house wearing boxer shorts.

-B Metro

Lesson 11.

Memory Text: 1 Corinthians 10:6
“Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did”

INTRODUCTION
The Queens Museum of Art in New York, United States, houses the world’s largest architectural model of a city, depicting all of the buildings of New York. On a scale of 1:1,200 (where 2.5 centimeters or 1 inch corresponds to 33 meters or 100 feet) it covers nearly 870 square meters (9,335 square feet). It was originally completed in 1964 by 100 craftsmen who had worked for more than three years to complete the project. It has been updated to the 1990s and does not reflect the 2021 cityscape. It is an amazingly intricate and detailed copy of the original.

In the end, though, it is still just that: a copy, a model, a representation of something grander, bigger, deeper, and much more intricate than the model itself.

That’s how all models are, actually. They are not the original but function only as symbols of the originals. A model helps us grasp the essence of the original, but it can never replace it. Rather, it is there to help people better understand what the original is all about.

SABBATH: Model designs are still large element of architecture. They are used to mirror what a real city looks like & give a comprehensive depiction of the city. The New York Queens Museum of Art harbors one of the most largest models of a city. Made by 100 craftsmen in 1964, it mirrors the city of New York in the 1990s. Yet, it’s just but a copy. In the Bible, there are mini-models for us to grasp a bigger thing (Heb. 4).

SUNDAY: The Bible is full of “types” & “antitypes”. The word “type” is a Greek noun (“typos”) which means “example”. A type always points to an antitype. Types are models of larger things (1 Cor. 10:1-11 & Heb. 8:5). E.g; the earthly sanctuary (a “type”) & the heavenly sanctuary (an “antitype”); rock, bread of life, living water (types) means Christ (antitype); (Exod. 25:9, 16:31-35, 1 Cor. 10:4, John 6:48 & 4:10).

MONDAY: Not a dot is without value in the Bible. Even a jot/single word convey essential spiritual truths such as the rituals in the OT (Lev. 4:32-35, John 1:29; 1 Pet. 1:18-21). Details were given by God on what to do & which animal to sacrifice. Explanations are not always given. Israel might have understood its meaning (Lev. 17:11). Blood was key for atonement. The blood of Christ was shed for us (Lev. 4:32-35).

TUESDAY: The greatest sin of Israel was their faithlessness & rebellion. They received the gospel but with the spirit of unbelief. Many failed to trust God & disobeyed Him (Heb. 4:1-11 & 3:7-19). As a result, God’s true rest eluded them. Faith & rest in God are inseparable. God made rest; to enter it, you need to trust God. The early church believed the OT, Jesus as the Lamb & had faith in His saving sacrifice (Heb. 4:2, 3).

WEDNESDAY: Those who possess a soft & contrite heart find rest in God. Israel hardened her heart & failed to taste God’s rest. God’s grace took the new generation to the Promised Land, but their lack of faith hindered many from tasting the reality of salvation in Christ (Heb. 4:4-7, Ps. 95:8-11). Canaan was just part of the rest in Christ. God bids us not to harden our hearts. Now is the time (Ps. 95:7).

THURSDAY: Hebrews 4:8-11 points to God’s special end-time rest that has been present since Creation. Anytime we celebrate the Sabbath rest, we have a taste of the world to come (the end-time rest). This rest was & is not only for the Jews, for Joshua did not give Israel rest. It’s for all who accept Christ as their personal Savior (Gal. 3:26-29). The Creation account assures us that we can cease from our own works & trust God’s promise of salvation.

FRIDAY: Humans can cry with us but only God can dry our tears. Humans can offer us sympathy but only God can solve our problems. Oftentimes, we’re inclined to pour our trials & woes to human ears. We are not always willing to come to Jesus for aid. God’s promises are precious & sure. We must study His word, know His will, & confide in Him. Christ is waiting to hear our pleas & never forsakes. Have hope!

Discussion Questions

? What’s so special about the seventh-day Sabbath that it prefigures God’s heavenly rest for His people? That is, how does the Sabbath rest give us a foretaste of eternity?

? Atonement means reconciliation and indicates the way back to God. Think about this important statement found in Romans 5:11: “And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation” (NKJV). If someone were to ask you, “What does it mean to be reconciled to God, and what difference has this reconciliation made in your life,” what would you answer?

? How can we avoid majoring in minors in our Christian life? What keeps us focused on the big picture offered in God’s Word?

? Think again about all the mistakes made and the lack of faith the children of Israel manifested in the wilderness. Though the details of their challenges are different from ours (we’re not wandering through a vast desert), what common principles are there? That is, how in our own Christian walk might we be confronted with the same challenges they were, and how can we learn from their mistakes?
