Mliswa Fumes Over Chivhayo Acquital

Norton Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa has accused the National Prosecuting Authority of failing to present solid corruption cases before the courts leading to Zimbabweans losing faith in the judiciary.

Mliswa was commenting on the case where Wicknell Chivayo and his company, Intratrek Zimbabwe were cleared of allegations of bribing ex-Zimbabwe Power Company board chairperson Stanley Kazhanje with US$10 000 which the State had said was meant to influence awarding of the Gwanda Solar Project tender.

Said Mliswa, “This has become the order of the day. That’s why I have said our system is being let down by the Prosecutor General’s Office. We then end up accusing the Judiciary of being corrupt when the cases are actually weak. All these high-profile cases have gone to nothing.

We might as well bring dzana Mai Mupfumira to an end. The arresting officers are given instructions.”Mliswa also weighed in on the recent Central Bank list of forex dealers saying the cases will be thrown out of the courts.”It’s like all these cases of the black market dealers, it’s all noise it will come to nothing.

That is why I have challenged all by showing these companies using the black market. That is the reality but the Gvt refuses to recognize that. The rate will not go down, if there is anything it will go up. People will keep on trading.”There is a great Russian saying that, even if there is blood on the streets trading never stops.

This is what is happening. @ZACConline is doing do much yet the Prosecutor General is failing. The ZRP should learn to investigate before arresting. It’s not good.”

Shock As Suspected Witch Is Caught Stark Naked

By A Correspondent- A Nyanga woman suspected to be a witch was last week stark naked at a neighbour’s homestead in Sedze Village in Nyanga.

Mavis Nyambuya, who was accompanied by her two-year-old nephew who was also naked, was found wandering the homestead of her would-be victim, Memory Mahowa.

The Weekender learnt that Mahowa sought the assistance of self-confessed Mutare-based spiritual healer, Madzibaba Stephen Nzira to protect her homestead from merchants of the underworld, in a practice loosely known as ‘kuisa munamato’.

Madzibaba Nzira confirmed the incident and told The Weekender that Mahowa sought his services after her children began experiencing weird happenings such as waking up with strange markings on their hands. Madzibaba Nzira said:

It was a clear case of witchcraft. I did not disclose to them that their neighbour was behind these strange happenings.

I gave her some water to sprinkle around her house among other instructions. This was to act as a ‘fireguard’ from unwelcomed visitors like Nyambuya.

When Nyambuya was trapped, she was in the company of her two-year-old nephew whom I believe was being initiated into the practice. The child also had some marks on her hand.

The terrified and cornered Nyambuya screamed for help attracting a huge crowd that demanded for instant justice.

The police’s swift reaction saved her.

A recorded video of Nyambuya begging for forgiveness and crying while seated on the ground with the young girl has gone viral on social media platforms. She is heard pleading:
People are praying.

This place is holy. I am feeling hot. I am sorry about this. Please forgive me. My other colleagues have escaped.

Villagers expressed shock at Nyambuya’s move to recruit a young child into the witchcraft world.

Acting Chief Saunyama, said although he was yet to get finer details of the matter, he would summon Nyambuya to his court.

He said that Nyambuya will have to pay a fine of not less than three beasts if found guilty and she also faces banishment.

Popular Nyanga exorcist and traditional healer, Shingirai Mukotsanjera on Tuesday said that was pure witchcraft and this child was being initiated into witchcraft.

“Education Knows No Age. I Am Going To School”: Auxilia Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent- Infamous for being a hub of prostituti0n, drug abuse and a place where women’s dignity was not respected, paBooster in the sprawling settlement of Epworth assumed a new role.

From dusk to dawn, the place was always teeming with ladies of the night and consumers of their services.

Despite this, Amai Mnangagwa yesterday defied odds and used the place as the venue where she met women, among them, those intending to quit the oldest profession on a life-changing mission.

Some of the Epworth women will today begin their short courses studies under a partnership between First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa’s Angel of Hope Foundation and Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) to empower them through open learning.

This comes as more women from Epworth particularly those from paBooster area yesterday showed eagerness to register and take part in the programme.

A number of young girls and women who failed to complete their studies owing to various challenges, including being orphans and poverty, are keen to complete their education and earn a certificate thus Amai Mnangagwa is giving them a chance to do so.

The programme reinforces the First Lady’s drive to ensure no one is left behind in her multi-pronged empowerment initiatives.

She launched the programme in Epworth on September 13 which will see vulnerable women countrywide benefiting free of charge.

On that day, over 3 000 women were registered and are starting lessons today.

Beneficiaries include former ladies of the night, orphans, child head of families and people living with disabilities among many other disadvantaged groups.

The First Lady together with the university’s leadership and deans of faculties yesterday met with the second group of beneficiaries “paBooster” previously known as the hub of pr0stitution and criminal activities.

Amai Mnangagwa wants the women to shun criminal life and prostituti0n which exposed them to diseases and equip them with life skills to earn a decent living through the use of their hands.

ZOU pro-vice chancellor academic affairs Professor Nyakatau, representing ZOU Vice Chancellor Professor Paul Gundani said lectures from three of the university’s eight faculties would start in earnest from 9am to noon today.

“On September 13, 2021 Angel of Hope Foundation and ZOU started a national development partnership to uplift people in communities and to teach women and young girls through short courses free of charge.

“Amai, ZOU has committed itself to uplifting the dignity of the girl child. Today 30 September 2021 we are boosting relations between Angel of Hope and ZOU for community empowerment through open learning. At the initial meeting on September 13, more than 3000 people who are assisted by Angel of Hope Foundation registered to do short courses across all ZOU faculties,” he said.

The work to uplift the people’s standard of life through humanitarian and developmental programmes that are being led by the First Lady through her Angel of Hope Foundation, Prof Nyakatau said, helped the people of Zimbabwe to “work together removing challenges that may stop us from reaching national Vision 2030 as some of us could be left behind”.

He paid tribute to the leadership of Epworth Local Board for the assistance through the Epworth Board hall and their grounds for community empowerment through open learning.

“Amai, I want to inform those who are here and those who are listening that on October 1 2021 — three of ZOU’s eight faculties — Faculty of Applied Social Sciences, Faculty of Education and Faculty of Law are starting to offer courses in community engagement.

“Those who registered for disability-focused lessons, Early Childhood Development (ECD) and legal education are encouraged to commence their studies tomorrow (today) at the Epworth local board tomorrow from 9am to 12 noon.

“Amai, I want to notify those who are assisted by Angel of Hope foundation here present that through the community empowerment through open learning programme, ZOU will give short courses in the faculties of agriculture, applied social sciences, arts, culture and heritage studies, commerce, education, law, science and technology free of charge in 10 provinces of the country. Do not be left behind. A mother helps all her children,” he said.

Addressing the women yesterday, the First Lady implored the women to quit the world’s oldest profession and use the opportunity to study to change their lives.

“I am happy to come here at the Booster which is infamous for bad deeds. All that happened in the past happened, but must end today. Even God deplores these deeds. I’m happy you heeded my call to go to school which I launched on September 13. Because of Covid-19, we did not manage to meet at once and today I am here to meet you the second group.

“Epworth you are blessed because this programme started here. I have faith that if we study hard there will be change in our lives and even in our homes things will change.

“You will neither be found gossiping nor at the booster because you would have been empowered. After seeing my programmes at Angel of Hope of empowering communities, ZOU saw it fit to work together to mould the woman we want in Zimbabwe, the man we want, the daughter we want and the son we want. These courses would be given to us free of charge. The fact that we have this second group shows you are welcoming this programme we have. Would you not be happy to have a ZOU certificate?”

The First Lady said a number of people failed to complete their education because of various challenges while some were orphaned and they were lucky to have the ZOU programme on their doorstep.

“Some of you worked at night doing work of the darkness. Which works am I referring to here?” the First Lady asked.

In response, one of the women said; “I am one of the ladies who operate from here at the booster. This work is not easy Amai. The whole night you can work for a paltry US$2.

“A man may give you a dollar, but after the act he demands his money back. At times we are beaten up. Yesterday night we were here but were beaten up by some men saying prostituti0n was bad. At times if you bed a married man from our community, all the married women will team up to beat us up daily.”

The First Lady said such an account drove her close to tears.

“I feel like crying seeing a woman suffering like this, but is it worth it madzimai. Women, from today let us leave this life and start a new life. We have rejected the spirit of prostituti0n. We can end our challenges on our own as women. Booster has brought us diseases and children of different totems. May God hear us and cleanse this place.

“Let us work and those who do not want to go to school can engage in self-help projects using their hands. Grandmothers let us encourage our daughters and grandchildren to study and stay away from mischief. Children are being ruined by drugs and prostitution.

“Let’s go to school and uplift ourselves. Let’s work for our country which is worked for by you and me. Education knows no age and as I stand here I am also going to school,” she said.

Amai Mnangagwa said projects fostered unity and encouraged women to unite.

“Are there some who were not on talking terms,” she asked.

A woman who was part of the gathering confirmed that she was not in talking terms with some ladies from her area.

“Amai we live near the booster and we politely asked the ladies of the night not to wait close to our houses in the nude because our children were seeing them. This did not go well with these women who then looked for thugs to break into our homes just to fix us for reprimanding them. Our neighbour was beaten and injured by these thugs,” she said.

Another woman said: “I am not talking to my neighbour because she took my 15-year-old daughter and got her married somewhere I don’t even know, up to now I don’t know where my daughter is. We are not even related to this neighbour.”

In response, the mother of the nation implored the police to look into these cases and advised the women to approach police officers at the venue and present their cases.

She said some people feared reporting yet such platforms enabled people to open up.

She told the gathering about her 575 national call centre and urged them to utilise it.

Elated beneficiaries of the programme said they were keen to start a new life and end their wicked ways.

Fortunate Chisero (35) said she was thankful to the First Lady for her rehabilitation programme which would change their lives for the better.

“I thank the First Lady for bringing this programme here at the Booster. She is giving us education. I ended my education in Form 3 so I am grateful with her decision to uplift us here in Epworth. Most women were doing bad things at the Booster, but Amai has come to encourage us to leave this and its now over. We also thank the university that she collaborated with so that we get certificates,” she said.

The same sentiments were echoed by Tsitsi Masunda (35).

“I feel elated beyond measure because of this programme that has been unveiled by the First Lady here in Epworth. Today we have been given ZOU courses so from today we are leaving this business and learning to fend for our families using our hands. We promise to leave our bad behaviour.

Alice Pitara (59) said she would hit the ground running through a farming project.

“I am interested in a farming project. I am happy for this programme, especially for us the elderly we want to continuously learn about farming because we draw food from the soil. That is where we will get money to fend for our families.”

Gogo Pitara said the First Lady’s intervention would help ease some of the challenges that were being encountered at the Booster.

“At the Booster young women engaged in prostitution so we are happy that Amai has helped us to counsel our children. They should listen to the word of God and quit prostitution,” she said.

Councillor for Ward 3 Gift July promised the First Lady that he would engage the police to enhance patrols at the booster.

A Feather In The Cap For The Youth Assembly

02-10-2021

We, as the MDC Alliance Youth Assembly would like to extend our deluge of gratitude to the People’s President, Advocate Nelson Chamisa for the recognition of youths as evidenced by his latest appointments.

Of note is the elevation of our Secretary General, Cde Gift Ostallos Siziba and Youth National Executive Committee member, Discent Bajila to the Standing Committee and the National Executive Committee of the party respectively.

The appointment and elevation of Cde Ostallos to be the party’s Deputy Spokesperson is a feather in the cap for the Youth Assembly in particular and young people in general. It is also a confirmation that the party is going in the right direction by following modern trends in world politics where young people are taking the lead in political organizations.

As an Assembly, we are very much elated that our President has so much confidence in us, the youths. The recognition and elevation of youths is a clear statement by the People’s President that young people are the leaders of today. Indeed the future is always young!

We are also proud that the Assembly continues to be the leadership factory for the party. The President himself is also a product of the Assembly. In that regard, we also abundantly welcome the appointment of our former youth leaders, Promise Mkwananzi, Morgan Ncube and Caston Matewu to the National Executive Committee and Standing Committee.

Indeed our President has taken heed of our democracy icon’s words, the late Dr Morgan Tsvangirai who posited that this party should not be a one generational party.

We also welcome the affirmation by the National Executive Committee of our Youth Assembly National Chairperson, Cecilia Chimbiri and Acting Organizer, Lovejoy Chitengu. Indeed the Assembly is ready to mobilize and register more numbers of youths as we heard towards the 2023 election victory.

Behold, the new!

Congrats Cde Ostallos, congrats Cde Bajila!

S_ex Starved Ex Rapes Woman At Knifepoint

By A Correspondent- A Harare man has been arrested for raping his ex-girlfriend at knifepoint.

Alex Steblecki, 26, was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi who remanded him in custody and referred him to the High Court because the rape reportedly occurred in aggravated circumstances.

The court heard that on September 27, at around 7am Steblecki went to his 31-year-old ex-girlfriend’s place of residence and took her car saying that he was late for work and returned at around 2pm carrying his dirty laundry which he gave to the complainant’s maid and left.

Steblecki returned later that day in the evening and sat in the lounge and started demanding the complainant’s phone and she complied.

Steblecki reportedly started demanding to know why she had pictures of her vagina in the phone but when she asked to be shown, he failed to show her.
They later went into the kitchen at around 11pm and he locked the door and switched on the gas stove and he told her that if he couldn’t be with him, she would not be with other men and that prompted her to apologise in order to calm him down then he switched off the stove.
Steblecki threatened to kill her using a knife he got in the kitchen before he asked her to suck his manhood but she refused and he asked her why she was refusing yet she was sleeping with other men.

He then took her to the bedroom and raped her and after the incident the complainant called her brother who came with the police and Steblecki was arrested.
He was also in violation of a protection that barred him from visiting the complainants home.

Zanu Pf Minister Demands Money To Fund Conference From Byo Residents

A Correspondent- Zanu PF’s Bulawayo Provincial Affairs Minister Judith Ncube has launched a fundraising blitz to raise US$57 000 for the party’s virtual annual conference.

The Ncube wants Bulawayo residents to help fund the party’s conference, running from October 26 to 31 at Bindura University of Science Education in Mashonaland Central.

Minister Ncube challenged young business people and the youth in Bulawayo to raise funds within a week.

“My office is run by a political figure who happens to be myself. I saw it fit to invite you and others who have committed themselves into doing something. We are in support of our leadership and the ruling party Zanu-PF,” she said.
She said the Zanu-PF led government has come up with business-friendly policies and the business community must reciprocate by supporting it.
“Our presence as young people should be felt and we want you to walk tall and say come to Bulawayo and see how businesses are run. We should be able to raise US$57 000 because you are in the forefront of this fundraising as young businesspeople,” said Minister Ncube.

Sticky Fingered “Man Of God” Nabbed

By A Correspondent- Prophet Cherubim, who allegedly betrayed trust bestowed upon him by a friend, has been issued with a warrant of arrest after failing to appear in court.

Lucky Chakanyuka, 36, of Marlborough popularly known as Prophet Cherubim of International Arena of Miracles Church has been issued with a warrant of arrest after he failed to appear at Chinhoyi Magistrate’s Court to answer to theft charges.

The complainant is Kudakwashe Machiri of Chinhoyi.

Chakanyuka was supposed to appear before Chinhoyi magistrate Tamari Chibindi charged with one count of theft of trust property but the man of cloth was nowhere to be found after his name was called three times, resulting in the prosecutor, Tinoziva Chipupuri asking the court to grant a warrant of arrest in default.

Magistrate Chibindi consented and granted a warrant of arrest for Chakanyuka.

The alleged facts are that on July 29 Chakanyuka was given an ATM Card ZB Bank with a balance of $1 200 000 in trust so that he could withdraw $100 000 for the payment of Machiri’s medical bills.

However, Chakanyuka betrayed the trust bestowed on him and converted the money to his own use.

On August 5, Machiri noticed that the bank debited a total of $1 200 000 through several transactions made by Chakanyuka.

The matter was reported to police leading to the arrest of Chakanyuka.

A total of $1 200 000 was stolen and only $56 000 was recovered.

“Povo- Wake Up To The Reality And Fight This Rotten Arrangement!”

By Nomusa Garikai- ZEC has barred MDC Alliance from attending a ZEC organised all political parties meeting and the reaction from the MDC A spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere has been “full of sound and fury signifying nothing,” as William Shakespeare would say.

“Hon. Madzimure of the MDC Alliance has been barred from ZEC’s provincial consultative meeting for political parties which is scheduled for tomorrow in Harare. ZEC has an obligation to consult all stakeholders and to be independent,” said Mahere on Twitter.

ZEC has done a lot worse things than barring opposition members from attending stakeholders’ meetings which, from past experience, are just time wasting talk-shops. MDC A leaders know that ZEC; as is the case with the rest of the judiciary, Police, Army and all the other state institutions; is incapable of delivering free, fair and credible elections because it is a Zanu PF department in all but name.

“We reiterate our call for electoral reform and constitutional conduct on the part of ZEC,” continued the effervescent Mahere.

The 2008 Zimbabwe elections were a watershed because Zanu PF showed the full array of the party’s ability to rig elections. The part stepped in to stop ZEC announcing the result of the March 2008 vote and after six weeks of cooking up the figures Morgan Tsvangirai’s 73%, by Mugabe’s own Freudian slip, was whittled down to 47%, enough to force the run-off.

As far as Zanu PF was concerned, the run-off was all about punishing the people for having rejected the party in the March vote. And the people were punished; property was destroyed, the people were beaten, raped, abducted and over 500 were murdered in cold blood.

SADC leaders forced Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF to sign the 2008 Global Political Agreement (GPA), agreeing to the need for Zimbabwe to implement a raft of democratic reforms to restore the independence of ZEC, Police, Army, etc. and stop a repeat of the blatant cheating and wanton violence of 2008.

The GPA established the Government of National Unity (GNU) in which Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC-T and Arthur Mutambara and his MDC-M constituted the major partners. During the five years of the GNU, MDC leaders could do a lot more than “reiterate the call for democratic reforms”; it was in their power to implement the reforms!

Sadly, it was not to be; MDC leaders failed to implement even one token reform in five years of the GNU. Mugabe bribed Tsvangirai and company with the trappings of high office and, with their snouts buried in the feeding trough, MDC leaders forgot about the reforms for five years.

SADC leaders were the guarantor of the 2008 GPA and they made one last minute bid to get the reforms implement. They wanted the scheduled July 2013 elections postponed until the reforms were implemented.

“In 2013 the Maputo Summit, in June 2013, before the elections, the Maputo Summit was all about having the elections postponed – the SADC summit. I went there,” Dr Ibbo Mandaza of SAPES told Journalist Violet Gonda.

“I was there at the Summit and Mugabe pretended to agree to a postponement of the elections. If you recall, the postponement was based on the need to reform at least electoral laws.

“And after that Summit, Morgan Tsvangirai, Tendai Biti, Welshman Ncube, all of them were called to a separate meeting by the Heads of State of SADC in the absence of Mugabe, that same evening. And they were told; I was sitting there outside the room with Mac Maharaj; they were told ‘if you go into elections next month, you are going to lose; the elections are done’.”

As we know Tsvangirai and company ignored the SADC leaders’ warning and participated in the 2013 elections for the same reason the MDC leaders had failed to implement the reforms during the GNU – greed. MDC leaders knew Zanu Pf was offering a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition and they found the bribe irresistible.

At it 2014 MDC-T congress the party resolved they would never participate in future elections until the reforms were implemented. “No reform, no elections!” they said.

By the end of the following year, 2015, it was clear the party was going to participate in future elections even if not even one token reform was implemented. Greed had once again got the better of MDC leaders.

By participating in the flawed and illegal elections, MDC A is gives the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy and in return the MDC leaders get a share of the spoils of power.

MDC A’s repeated calls for reforms are worse than Judas Iscariot’s futile gesture of throwing away the thirty pieces of silver after the deed was done. At least Judas was sincere in his remorse since he not only throw away the blood money but went on hang himself. MDC leaders are stubbornly refusing to admit they sold-out in failing to implement any reforms but worst of all are now the ones keeping the Zanu PF dictatorship in power as long as the later keeps paying them the thirty pieces of silver.

“We reiterate our call for electoral reform and constitutional conduct on the part of ZEC,” continued the effervescent Mahere. Yes darling, we have heard that thousands of times and so has Zanu PF.

It is the lack of political will and discipline by opposition to stand firm in demanding the implementation of the democratic reforms that is giving Zanu PF the confidence to ignore demands for free, fair and credible elections.

There must be consequences for breaking the rules others there is no incentive to up hold the rules especially by those who are benefiting from breaking the rules. MDC A keep participating in the flawed elections because they are getting a few scraps, which is better than nothing but trouble which is what povo are getting.

MDC leaders have given up the fight for free, fair and credible elections and settled to whatever scraps Zanu PF throws at them. It is for povo to wake up to this new political reality and to fight to end to this rotten arrangement.

Matanga In Soup Over Teargasing Commutters

ZIMBABWE Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) on Thursday 30 September 2021 petitioned Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga to furnish the human rights organisation with a written undertaking in which law enforcement agents shall be directed to desist from the prevalent practice of throwing teargas canisters into
loaded public transportation vehicles.

In the letter written by Tinashe Chinopfukutwa and Paidamoyo Saurombe, ZLHR told Matanga that the indiscriminate throwing of teargas canisters into loaded public transport vehicles amounts to excessive and unjustifiable use of force by ZRP members and amounts to a violation of the passengers right to human dignity and the right to personal security as provided for in Section 51 and Section 52 of the Constitution.

ZLHR said its concern and request follows the recent circulation on social media of a video, where ZRP members allegedly threw teargas canisters into a Mulaudzi bus, which was carrying passengers.

In the video, passengers could be seen stampeding and scurrying to escape the teargas fumes which had engulfed the bus and it was clear from the video that some of the victims are young children, who were clearly choking from the teargas fumes.

The lawyers also advised Matanga that they are in the process of preparing a court application for the ZRP members’ conduct in question to be declared a violation of passengers’ fundamental rights guaranteed in the Constitution and for an order prohibiting such conduct.

Driver Reveals How The Police Murdered His Conductor

By A Correspondent- A driver of a commuter omnibus (kombi) has narrated how police officers assaulted his conductor on 14 September leading to his death three days later.

The body of the 28-year-old Luke Zuze, the kombi conductor, is still at Parirenyatwa Hospital mortuary as the family awaits the burial order.

Zuze was fatally assaulted by four wanted police officers after he had allegedly refused to pay a bribe for carrying passengers in a kombi not registered under the Zupco franchise, resulting in a fight.

The assault happened at around 5:30 pm along Granary Road and the conductor died three days later in hospital. The kombi driver, George Pirwa, Friday narrated the incident:h

We were coming from Mbare and when we were near Whitehouse, we pulled off the road to drop off some passengers. That is when two of the police officers confronted us, telling us that we had been arrested.

One of the police officers jumped inside the vehicle while the other one remained standing outside. Zuze walked towards the door on the driver’s side since he was outside the vehicle and took the car keys and then ran towards the shops at Whitehouse.

Pirwa said the police officer standing outside the vehicle went after Zuze and caught him about 70 metres away from the kombi.

The officers called their colleague who had remained behind with Pirwa informing him they had arrested the conductor. The police officer ordered the driver to disembark from the vehicle so that they go to the scene where Zuze had been arrested.

They arrived and found the handcuffed Zuze lying facing downwards making sounds suggesting he was suffering in pain. The police officer that had arrested him was assaulting him and his colleague joined in the assault.

Zuze later shouted that he had broken his left leg when the police officer tripped him to the ground during the arrest.

Pirwa checked Zuze’s leg and discovered that it was broken.

An unregistered white Toyota Mark 11 that the police officers were using arrived at the scene carrying two other police officers.

They ferried Pirwa and Zuze and drove along High Glen Road before stopping the car just after the roundabout near High Glen Shopping Centre.

They then threatened the duo with detention adding that they were going to prepare dockets so that they would be sent to court for prosecution.

Pirwa later called his colleague named Ronald requesting him to attend to his kombi which he had left in Whitehouse.

He ran out of airtime and one of the police officers asked for Ronald’s number and called him using his mobile phone.

They drove to Sally Mugabe Hospital where one of the officers made arrangements to ensure that Zuze was admitted.

The officers then asked for his driver’s licence and took the kombi keys before they disappeared.

Pirwa remained with Zuze at the hospital and the following morning he went to a police base in Whitehouse to make a report.

When the officers who made the report were called, they said they were handling the case and had opened a docket at Marimba Police Station but failed to give a reference number.

Pirwa was then ordered to go to Marimba Police Station where he discovered that no such report was made and that the officers are not based at that station.

An assault report was made but when Zuze died a few days later, the report changed from assault to murder before being referred to CID Homicide for further investigations.

Hospital officials said Zuze’s body needed to undergo a COVID-19 test for a post mortem to be conducted. Zuze tested positive.

The body was then referred to Parirenyatwa Hospital where post-mortem for such cases is conducted.

The forensic post mortem was conducted on Wednesday this week September 29, and results are expected within 30 days.

The family is now waiting for a burial order. Zuze, who stayed in Westlea, is survived by his wife and two children, one aged five and a newborn baby.

MDC Alliance Activists Still Detained Over ZEC Offices Gathering

MDC Alliance Harare Provincial Youth Secretary, Tatenda Johanes Karichi who is a tax Driver and Chrispen Bvirwa are still detained at Harare Central police station for Unlawful gathering.

The trio and about eight Journalist who were later released have been arrested early Thursday at Zimbabwe Electoral Commision offices in Harare.

Speaking to Denford Ngadziore, he said only Journalists were released while him and other two other leaders are Still in custody.

‘I and other two leaders are  Still detained for unlawful gathering. Only journalists were released”, he said.

Earlier in the morning, MDC Alliance Youth National Spokesperson Stephen Sarkozy Chuma issued a statement  condemning the arrest and the detention of Harare Province leadership.

“The MDC Alliance Youth Assembly is riled by the arrest and detention of its leaders from Harare Province today.

“We condemn in strongest terms the arrest of our youth leaders for exercising their right to petition and demonstrate as enshrined in Section 59 of the country’s supreme law, The Constitution of Zimbabwe.

“Among those arrested is Harare Province’s Secretary, Denford Ngadziore. Apart from our youth leaders, nearly 8 journalists were rounded up by the police. This is a clear indication too that Emmerson Mnangagwa’s regime has criminalized journalism.

“Those arrested were picked up near ZEC Provincial Offices at Cecil House.
“As the MDC Alliance Youth Assembly, we want to put it clear to the regime that the arrests are illegal and unconstitutional!

“The regime is behaving worse than terrorist organizations like Boko Haram on its very own citizens hence threatening peace if citizens are to respond.

“A regime that does not respect citizens’ rights like that of Mnangagwa risks public anger and is a threat to peace. We demand for the immediate release of our members”, said Chuma.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights are at the Central representing Ngadziore, Tatenda Johanes Karichi and Chrispen Bvirwa.

“Nick Mangwana Violating The Constitution”: Prof Jonathan Moyo

Exiled former Information Minister, Professor Jonathan Moyo has warned the Secretary of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana that he faces legal action if he “continues to be partisan.”

Moyo was responding to Mangwana’ Twitter post which suggested that President Emmerson Mnangagwadeserves five more years in office. Mangwana tweeted:

Reasons for #FiveMoreYears are very clear. He needs to finish what he started.

Mangwana also attached a picture by newZWire, a local publication that reported on growth recorded by Innscor, the country’s biggest consumer goods producer.

In response, Moyo said Mangwana, who is a “civil servant,” was violating the Constitution of Zimbabwe by openly showing support for President Mnangagwa. He said:

SECRETARY @nickmangwana, as a civil servant, your outrageous partisan campaign for Mnangagwa’s 2023 cause is in breach of s200(2) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe (see attachment). You must withdraw your partisan campaign, cease and desist pronto; or face brutal court action!

Man Who Axed Wife While The Children Watched Kills Self

By A Correspondent- A 48 year old man, who allegedly axed his wife to death in Harare, has committed suicide in Beitbridge after failing to skip the border to South Africa.

It is reported that on September 27, Tinashe Ruzaya Paunosvisva of the Ushewekunze area in Harare killed his wife Ronah Masango with an axe while their two minor children watched in horror.

He then escaped to Beitbridge with the intention to cross over to South Africa, but later committed suicide at the Lutumba Business Centre, some 20km before Beitbridge town along the Masvingo road, after failing to jump the border.

The police officer commanding the Beitbridge district, Chief Superintendent Tichaona Nyongo confirmed the incident today.

“He was wanted in connection with a case of murder at Southlea Park in Harare. The man’s body was found lying by the roadside at Lutumba Business Centre by a passer-by who informed the police. A search was done leading to the discovery of a suicide note in his pocket,” he said.

The body has been taken to the Beitbridge district hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.

Paunosvisva wrote a suicide note, stating that had his wife listened to him, they could still be together.

ZLHR PETITIONS MATANGA OVER INDISCRIMINATE THROWING OF TEARGAS CANISTERS

Harare Man Rapes Ex-Girlfriend At Knife-Point

Shock as Villagers Catch Witch Red-Handed

By A Correspondent- Villagers in Nyanga’s Sedza area have caught a woman suspected to be a witch stark naked at a neighbour’s homestead.

Mavis Nyambuya, who was accompanied by her two-year-old nephew who was also naked, was found wandering the homestead of her would-be victim, Memory Mahowa last Saturday night.

Ramaphosa To Issue Covid-19 Vaccination Certificates

By A Correspondent- South African President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that his government will be rolling out a Coronavirus vaccination certificate which will be used to facilitate travel, access to establishments and gatherings and other forms of activity that require proof of vaccination status.

Speaking during a briefing on Thursday Ramaphosa said, “This evening, I would like to talk to you about four matters that are vital to our fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and the recovery of our society and economy. These are, firstly, the intensification of our national vaccination campaign; secondly, the measures we will be taking to further open our economy; thirdly, the introduction of a vaccination certificate; and, fourthly, our engagements with the United Kingdom to restore travel, tourism and trade.”

He added that the Department of Health will soon be rolling out a vaccination certificate, which will provide a secure and verifiable proof of vaccination.

“It can be used to facilitate travel, access to establishments and gatherings and other forms of activity that require proof of vaccination status. Our approach is informed by World Health Organization guidelines and is in line with international best practice.

“Streamlining and standardising proof of vaccination will also go a long way towards getting a number of international travel restrictions both from and into our country eased. Getting vaccinated is not only about protecting yourself and those around you.”

“I Am Also Going To School”: Auxilia Mnangagwa

Thieving Prophet Nabbed

Malawi Former Top Official Commits Suicide In Parliament

By A Correspondent- A former deputy speaker in Malawi on Thursday shot himself in the head inside parliament, where he had gone for a meeting, parliament said.

Clement Chiwaya, who was 50, killed himself inside the parliament building, where he had gone to discuss vehicle benefits entitled to him when he left office in 2019.

Police spokesperson James Kadadzera confirmed the incident but refused to give details until he had received a full report from investigators.

Parliament “regrets to inform the public that the former deputy speaker… committed suicide at the parliament building,” it said in a statement.

It said the incident was linked to “frustration with the implementation of his conditions of service.”

Chiwaya bought his official vehicle at the end of his five-year term in 2019, as provided for in his contract.

But he had tried to get parliament to pay for damages incurred in an accident that happened six months later.

He took the case to court. The legal process is still pending.

The statement from parliament appeared to suggest that Chiwaya, who moved in a wheelchair, had sneaked a gun into the high-security building.

“Having been a person with a disability, the (security) scanner alerts were deemed to be from the wheelchair,” it said.

A source at parliament told AFP that Chiwaya shot himself in the head inside the office of the clerk of parliament, Fiona Kalembera.

Before he became deputy speaker, he served as a member of parliament from 2004. – Eyewitness

State Intensifies Mamombe Persecution, Delays Trial

By A Correspondent- A Harare magistrate has postponed to October 13 the case in which Harare West legislator Joanah Mamombe (MDC Alliance) is accused of faking her own abduction.

Mamombe, who appeared before magistrate Stanford Mambanje, is being charged together with other party activists Cecilia Chimbiri and Netsai Marova.

The State, represented by Michael Reza, had asked the court to proceed to trial claiming an application made at the High Court by the trio to stop the proceedings had been dismissed.

Reza, however, did not have the court order, claiming he could not bring it to court, but had made a loud phone call with the prosecutor dealing with the case at the High Court in the presence of the accused’s lawyer.

The accused persons’ lawyer Jeremiah Bhamu, however, accused the State of misleading the court, claiming yesterday’s remand was for the purpose of confirming the status of the matter at the High Court.

Bhamu said it was never a trial date and as far as he knew, the matter was still stayed.

“With respect to whether the trial can proceed, the record will show that last time, we appeared before magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti-Guwuriro, who said she should wait for the matter to be concluded by the High Court,” Bhamu said.

“Today was not a trial date, but to advise the court of the status of the High Court application. No order has been placed before you or if the State has that order.”

Mambanje then postponed the matter.

“This is a remand court. If the matter is coming for trial, it should have gone to the right court. I didn’t know the matter was coming for trial. This court will be bound by the High Court order to stay the proceedings,” he ruled.

The trio is accused of lying to the police that they were abducted after they were found dumped in rural Bindura by their families and police in May last year.

Steward Bank expands remittance network, partners Senditoo and Thunes

HARARE – Steward Bank, a member of EcoCash Holdings Zimbabwe Limited, has announced new partnerships with international money transfer service providers Senditoo and Thunes, further expanding its growing remittance network to over half a dozen partners.

The new partnerships are expected to increase foreign currency inflows into the country as people living and working abroad get more convenient channels to send money back home through the additional service providers. The new partnerships are also expected to offer ease of access for local beneficiaries who will be able to collect the remitted funds at any Steward Bank branch throughout the country.

Zimbabwe has been battling foreign currency shortages over the past few years due to a number of reasons, among them low foreign direct investment and a lack of access to cheap international loans.

Mr Courage Mashavave, Steward Bank’s chief executive, said the financial institution was pleased to be playing its part in contributing to foreign currency inflows into the country by partnering with leading international remittance players to offer fast and affordable transfers to support local citizens and the Zimbabwean economy.

“A considerable number of families in Zimbabwe depend on remittances to put food on the table and address other expenses. These new partnerships give further options for Zimbabweans abroad wishing to send money to their loved ones back home to do so conveniently and safely,” he said, announcing the unveiling of the partnerships on Friday.

He added that Steward Bank, which currently partners Sasai Remit (formerly Cassava Remit UK and EcoCash Remit SA), World Remit, Small World, Mama Money in addition to Senditoo and Thunes, was committed to enhancing financial inclusion by integrating diverse payment systems.

Senditoo is an international value remittance service co-founded by Zimbabwean-born techpreneur, Mr Takwana Tyaranini in 2016. The fintech has rapidly grown and now covers 39 countries in Africa. Thunes is a Singapore cross-border payments fintech, with a global network in 113 countries.

Mr Mashavave said the new partnerships will enhance his bank’s global coverage and make international remittances more convenient to both the bank’s account holders and unbanked customers in Zimbabwe.

Remittance transfers are fast becoming the preferred means of sending money home as they offer real-time transactions that are simple and safe. According to the World Bank, remittance flows to Sub-Saharan Africa are projected to rise by 2.6 percent this year, from US$42 billion in 2020, supported by improving prospects for growth in high-income countries.

An estimated 2.5 to 3 million Zimbabweans live abroad and each year send a significant amount of money to support their family back home.

Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube recently said foreign currency remittances from the diaspora reached US$1 billion in 2020 alone, compared with US$636 million in 2019.

Lawyers Write To Police Boss Demanding An End To Throwing Of Teargas Into Buses

By A Correspondent| The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) has written to the Commissioner General of Police Godwin Matanga demanding a written undertaking that his officers will desist from firing tear canisters into loaded public transport vehicles.

In its letter, ZLHR told Matanga that the indiscriminate throwing of teargas canisters into loaded public transport vehicles amounts to excessive and unjustifiable use of force by ZRP members and also amounts to a violation of the passengers right to human dignity and the right to personal security.

“Worried by persistent use of teargas by the police, we have written to CG Matanga asking him to furnish us with written undertaking that ZRP members shall be directed to desist from prevalent practice of throwing teargas canisters into loaded public transportation vehicles,” posted ZLHR on Twitter.

“Our concern and request follows the recent circulation on social media of a video, where ZRP members allegedly threw teargas canisters into a Mulaudzi bus, which was carrying passengers.

In the video, passengers can be seen stampeding and scurrying to escape the teargas fumes which had engulfed the bus & it is clear from the video that some of the victims are young children, who were clearly choking from the teargas fumes,” ZLHR added.

Mliswa Fumes Over Chivhayo Acquittal

Khanyi Mbau Re-unites With Lover Kudzai

Media personality Khanyi Mbau is back in Dubai like she never left and her bae Kudzai Mushonga is a happy man, who went out of his way to give his woman a royal welcome back to the desert city.

After chanting “shiti indoda eDubai” and then making a hit track out of it with Sir Trill, Khanyi Mbau has changed her tune to ”landela indoda eDubai”.

The queen of bling boarded a first class flight back to Dubai on Thursday, heading back to her bae. She shared a snap of her passport with the plane ticket while waiting for her flight at the airport and switched off the comment section on Instagram.

The pair’s relationship hogged headlines when Khanyi abruptly left Dubai during their vacation and landed in SA without Kudzai’s knowledge. This led to Kudzai thinking Khanyi had gone missing and the whole thing played out on Instagram as Mzansi watched.

However, as things unfolded it became clear that Kudzai was remorseful and Khanyi was willing to forgive him. The pair must have fixed what was broken because last week Khanyi was video calling Dubai and the pair were having an online party for two.

They have also been saying cute things to each other on social media, with Kudzai always singing Khanyi’s praises and Khanyi admitting that she didn’t harbour any ill-feelings towards the Zimbabwean businessman.

Khanyi got a welcome back fit for queen, with everything from riding in Maybach V Class to getting a bouquet of roses and a sparkly gift from Cartier.

The pair looked smitten and got cosy in the car.

Mukupe Fumes Over Cleveleland Development Conservationists Want Stopped

Former Finance Deputy Minister Terence Mukupe has allegedly been caught in an obscene rant over a stand in Cleveland.

He is building a stadium in the area.

In the leaked audio Mukupe is heard attacking Community Water Alliance’s (CWA) Hardlife Mudzingwa.

CWA together with Combined Harare Residents Association (CHRA) have been demanding a stoppage of developments on wetlands in the area.

According to them, “the area falling under lease agreement is a wetland protected under the Ramsar Convention.“Sad events of our painful past experiences showed us how flooded houses built on wetlands add an unnecessary cost on tax payers.”

However Mukupe has disputed the point and says tests were done in his stand and it was found that it’s not a wetland.

“For your own information the property next to mine belongs to Tendai Biti, I’m not hearing you making noise about it.

“I have done nothing that is outside the law. My papers are intact.

“You don’t have enough information, my stand is for a football stadium, for a soccer pitch”, he charges.

The ZANU PF politicians then goes on to insult Mudzingwa with some unprintable words adding that he shall be taking him to court.

Cleveland Action Alliance chairperson Jimmy Mahachi recently also called for the stoppage of development in the area.

“We are worried by developments in the Cleveland Action Alliance area, which is a Ramsar site and source of water for Cleveland dam and Lake Chivero.

Mukupe has however been quoted in the media declaring that construction is going ahead.

ED Warned Over Mugabe Corpse War

South African based academic Dinizulu Macaphulana  (real name Dr. William Mpofu) has warned President Emmerson Mnangagwa that the spirited fight to have the late President Robert Mugabe’s corpse reburied at the national shrine will be his downfall.

Macaphulana added that the legal wrangle over Mugabe’s body led by his daughter Bona will lead to Mnangagwa’s defeat.

Said Macaphulana, “Some time ago I deposited a view that the political fight that will bring down Emmerson Mnangagwa is the fight between himself, his faction, versus the Robert Mugabe family. There was a lot of laughing at me that happened. I want to insist that eventually it is the Mugabes led by his child that will open a crack that will open Mnangagwa to defeat and destruction. This obsession with Mugabe’s dead body will dissolve Mnangagwa.”

In 2019, Macaphualana foretold that Mnangagwa will persecute the Mugabes leading to Bona taking over as leader of the family and rally Zimbabweans against Mnangagwa.

“Unbeknown to most of you is that in ZANU-PF now, no one can, with rhetoric and logic move even the stones better than Bona Mugabe. If you remember the young Mugabe you know half the story. She will speak in a tone and accent never before heard.

“She will speak in proverbs like a possessed woman. Wait to witness Bona Mugabe before a rally and you will come back to me. Her family and herself will be punished to suicide, and then the Mugabeness in Bona will kick in. So, opposition, do not be found in irrelevance when this starts. Be found with the people, and Bona will have to talk to you or the people will go to Bona and you will have to talk to her.”

Macaphulana recently alleged that the late Solomon Mujuru’s body parts were harvested before he was killed and later burnt.

“Solomon Mujuru’s murder was one burnt offering carried out in ritual occult style that mixed assassination with pure witchcraft. Many Zimbabweans dont know it that Mujuru was killed alongside a girl that was unknowingly used to trap him and that some of his body parts , including a foot, were harvested for ritual purposes. Exactly why Mugabe refused to have his body surrendered to the sorcerers he once worked with and used.”

Understanding Prostate Cancer

Prostate Cancer
The prostate gland is an organ found only in males positioned just below the bladder and surrounds the top portion of the tube that drains urine from the bladder. The major function of the prostate is to produce fluids that nourishes and transports sperms.

This organ called the prostate gland is more likely to develop cancer. Cancer occurs when cells in the body start to grow without control.

Cells in nearly any part of the body can become cancer cells, and can then spread to other parts of the body.

Prostate cancer is a type of cancer that affects the prostate gland. It is one of the most common types of cancer in males. Many prostate cancers grow slowly and are confined to the prostate gland. However, while some types of prostate cancer grow slowly and may require minimal or even no treatment, other types are aggressive and can vastly spread to other parts of the body.

Some of the signs of prostate cancer include.

• Frequent urination.

• Weak or interrupted urine flow or the need to strain to empty the bladder.

• Frequent urge to urinate at night.

• Blood in the urine.

• New onset of erectile dysfunction.

• Pain or burning during urination, which is much less common.

• Discomfort or pain when sitting, caused by an enlarged prostate.

• Back pain and bone pain if cancer have spread.

Risk factors for prostate cancer include:

  1. Age- common in the elderly usually above 50years
  2. Race- blacks have a high risk of having aggressive and advanced prostate cancer
  3. Family history- previous history of prostate cancer or breast cancer has shown an increased risk of having prostate cancer.

How to know you have prostate cancer?

Prostate cancer sometimes in its early stages one is asymptomatic and difficult to tell if they have prostate cancer.

Even with symptoms above one cannot tell alone with that as other prostate diseases might have similar symptoms.

If one suspects or have symptoms above should consult a doctor to have a physical examination and investigations done to assess if they have prostate cancer.

Treatment can be started early and the type of treatment to be administered one will discuss with their doctor.

Furore As Prophet Elopes With Form Two Girl

GUTU – Joe Makumbe (43), a self-styled prophet has left Soti Source Resettlement villagers in Gutu North angry after he allegedly eloped with a girl (name supplied) who was doing Form 2 at Tongogara High School.

Soti Source High School head, Judith Shamhu confirmed the case and said that the girl is no longer coming to school.

Sources told The Mirror that Makumbe, a polygamous prophet from Johanne Masowe (Venguo Tsvuku) who comes from the Matizha area under Chief Serima in Masvingo was camped with the girl’s family for two months as he prayed for the family and did his work in the area.

At the beginning of this month, Makumbe returned to his home but he went away with the girl.

He allegedly came back on September 21, 2021 and paid US$20 tsvakirai kuno, the first amount paid in the process of lobola and the girl’s family accepted it.
It is unlawful under the Zimbabwe Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, to marry a girl who is under the age of 18 and it is also unlawful for parents to participate in such a marriage.

Acting Masvingo Police Spokesperson, Lloyd Masundire said the Police is not aware of the case.
Efforts to get a comment from the girl’s mother (name supplied) were futile.

However, girl’s uncle confirmed the case stating that the marriage rites were yet to be performed.

“As a family we were equally moved after it came to our notice that the child had eloped with the prophet. We were never informed on anything,” said the uncle.
Gutu Ward three councillor Francis Mago could not be reached for a comment.

Plan International an organisation that concerns itself with issues of the girl child said early or forced marriage or unions are a violation of children’s human rights as it rob millions of girls under 18 around the world of their childhood.

Shamhu said the School is going to investigate the matter and file a report establish with the District Schools Inspector.

“The girl is no longer attending School. I have heard that she has been married off to a man with several wives. As a school we are supposed to establish what really transpired so as to come up with an informed decision,” said Shamhu.

There was an outcry in the country last month an underage girl is said to have died while giving birth at a church shrine in Manicaland with many people calling for investigations of most of the indigenous churches. Those girls are normally forced into early marriages.

According to UNICEF 12 million girls globally are forced into marriages before the age of 18 every year and nearly 650 million women alive today were married before their 18th birthday.

“Daughters are frequently seen as burdens or commodities because of pervasive gender inequality…

“In places where the groom’s family pays a bride price, parents in difficult economic circumstances may marry off their daughters as a source of income,” says the United Nations Population Fund.- Masvingo Mirror

Of Young People In Busines And Zim Political Environment …

By Vimbai D Tanyanyiwa

Being a Zimbabwean Youth in Business is very tough cause as much as you try to not be involved in politics it always comes back to haunt you.

The policies in place that affect the economy are put there & drafted by the same politicians you try so much to not be aligned to. So basically what am I saying? I am saying we are

SCREWED!!!

The environment right now is not favourable to anybody – we are doing toxic politics in Zimbabwe.
People can’t publicly express what they support cause they will be attacked.

If you are in business & you choose to support opposition you will have problems in your business with the other team. Who knows they might just wake up taking it from you or framing charges of any sort on you
If you support the ones in charge – you will be dragged by the opposition left right & centre & bullied into submission
What am I saying? We are doing toxic politics in Zimbabwe & we need to change?

The reason why some seem Apolitical is because if they tell you what they truly support; the likes will drop – they will lose the respect you give them & they will be attacked so they will pretend to laugh with you in comments & act like you share the same interests yet they are propelling those making us all suffer in poverty.
If only we could be tolerant we would know who exactly is with us in this journey & who isn’t & you wouldn’t guess people’s loyalty but because if an artist posts a message you swarm on his wall & you attack him ; you have made it obvious that only one side has to be supported & I disagree with that.

What is democracy if our behaviour is going to be that of dictators? Let’s be tolerant so that we really know who is who & we don’t wake up thinking the other guys don’t have support yet the ones we think support are just pretending to support so that you don’t attack them on social media!!

Also be very vigilant on who to do business with –
A wise man once told me ; just one bad name to be linked with in your business and you are screwed! It made me very careful from that day to disdain the free lunch and do due diligence on who I want to be associated with.

Warrant Of Arrest For Sticky Fingered Prophet

“I Feel Like Crying Seeing A Woman Suffering Like This”: Auxilia Mnangagwa

Police Cash In On Fines

By A Correspondent- Police have raised nearly $32 million after arresting and fining over 44 000 touts, unregistered vehicles and cars fitted with dangerous bar headlights under ongoing operations being conducted countrywide.

Among those that were arrested and fined were 328 people that were found with dangerous weapons. Of those arrested, 21 790 were touts, 13 855 unregistered vehicles while 8 416 were motorists with cars that are fitted with illegal bar headlights.

They were all fined a total of $31 604 000 from Sunday to yesterday in separate incidents.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the operations were continuing.

“The ZRP has intensified operations on unregistered motor vehicles, touting and dangerous weapons among other crimes,” he said.

In July, police warned that extended headlights mounted on vehicles that have been blamed for causing fatal accidents are illegal.

Through Statutory Instrument 129 of 2015, Government banned the mounting of additional headlights by motorists. The law states that those who want to make any modifications to their cars should first seek authority.

Additional headlights which some motorists have fitted on their cars cannot be dipped, compromising the vision for other drivers.

This is said to contributing to unnecessary collisions, some of them fatal, at a time when human error contributes most to the country’s road accidents statistics.

“Those lights are illegal in terms of the law. Remember we have Statutory Instrument 129 of 2015 which was promulgated by Government. It makes it clear on the type of headlight that can be fitted on a vehicle which are either two or four and have dimensions required and the number of the required watts,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.

“So, all the motorists who include haulage trucks, kombis, buses and other private vehicles who are using these lights are committing criminal offences. And the message should be loud and clear that they risk being arrested. They cause accidents, they disturb the vision of other motorists and definitely the police will take action.”

Ramaphosa To Issue Covid-19 Certificates

SOBERING CLIMATE REPORT SIMPLY REINFORCES THE DAILY HARDSHIPS THAT MANY COMMUNITIES IN AFRICA FACE

30 September 2021, Johannesburg, South Africa: Sivan Ya’ari, Founder & CEO of Innovation: Africa, discusses the importance of water in the changing climate and the pivotal role solar water pumping systems can play in the efforts to provide clean water to those most vulnerable.

Touted as the most solid and urgent report released to date, theUN’s recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) Special Report revealed that climate change is widespread, rapid and intensifying.

Although a key finding in the report highlights that global temperatures are expected to reach or exceed 1.5°C of warming over the next two decades – the Arctic lost an area of sea ice equivalent in size to that of Florida between June and mid-July 2021 – it isn’t only temperature increases which should be cause for alarm, but also the impact of unstable wetness and dryness cycles critical for health and agriculture.

Today, a change in climate is primarily felt through a change in water. Unicef predicts that by 2040, if drastic measures aren’t taken, almost 1 in 4 children will live in areas of extremely high water stress.

As the numbers currently stand, a staggering 784 million people live without basic access to clean water, roughly 1 in 10 people on earth, and Sub-Saharan Africa is experiencing the slowest rate of progress toward water security in the world. Aside from the detrimental impact on health this lack of water carries, it is also a crucial input for agricultural production and food security.

Agriculture is at the heart of Africa’s economy and has an extensive social footprint. It accounts for 14% of the total GDP in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as the majority of employment for the continent’s population.

But, due to increasing water scarcity, Africa is simply not able to reach its full agricultural potential, leaving many to face the negative impact of climate change without any help. Serious adverse effects on food security and on livelihoods at the regional, national and individual household levels are becoming increasingly prevalent.

The challenges faced by low-income countries are, among others, a lack of funding, education and infrastructure to take action. But as governments feel the pressure to ramp up their climate change strategies in the wake of the IPCC report, renewable energy should be our immediate answer to Africa’s water crisis and it’s in the form of solar power.

Solar powered water systems offer a cost-effective and sustainable way for communities to access safe and clean water which is becoming ever more critical to rural African communities. Clean water can exponentially limit the transmission of diseases such as cholera, diarrhoea, dysentery, hepatitis A, typhoid and polio.

With access to clean water, communities are healthier, women and children are freed of the burden of collecting water and now have the opportunity to attend school and/or establish income-generating businesses such as farming, brickmaking and much more.

In terms of farming, when local grids are unreliable or in some cases non-existent,  solar-powered and efficient drip-irrigation, for example, is increasing farm-level incomes by five to 10 times, improving yields by up to 300% and reducing water usage by up to 90%. This has incredible economic impact for communities relying on farming to keep themselves sustained and bring in life-changing revenue.

Just a few solar panels can transform communities. Solar energy can address many critical gaps and challenges associated with climate change policies, and in turn, socioeconomic growth.

“At Innovation: Africa we have seen first-hand the impact that solar water pumping systems and access to clean water can have. Providing communities with reliable access to clean water changes everything, allowing them to lead healthier and more secure lives. The technology exists, the cost is minimal and the impact is truly transformative. We have seen It across the 500 villages we have already helped. There Is no doubt that capturing energy from the sun to pump clean water Is the only efficient solution to making a real change and to fighting today’s climate change and challenges” explains Ya’ari.

So why, despite having the best solar resource in the world available at a fraction of the cost, are so many African countries continuing to falter? Many have already succeeded in making the necessary advancements to scale up renewables, such as adopting support policies and promoting investment and regional collaboration. But most of the continent is still severely lagging on the renewable energy front.

The time is now for African countries to reimagine their energy policies and commit to bringing solar power to rural communities. The IPCC report has been described as a code red for humanity, but it should rather serve as a green light for reimagined energy and water policies

Stop Your Officers From Teargasing Passengers, Police Boss Warned

By Jane Mlambo| The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) has demanded a written undertaking from Commissioner General of Police Godwin Matanga that riot officers will end the habit of firing tear canisters into loaded public transport vehicles.

In the video, passengers can be seen stampeding & scurrying to escape the teargas fumes which had engulfed the bus & it is clear from the video that some of the victims are young children, who were clearly choking from the teargas fumes,” ZLHR added.

ZLHR’s letter to Matanga follows the recent circulation on social media of a video, where ZRP members allegedly threw teargas canisters into a Mulaudzi bus, which was carrying passengers.

In the video, passengers can be seen stampeding and scurrying to escape the teargas fumes which had engulfed the bus.

Some of the victims are young children, who were clearly choking from the teargas fumes.

The police have since responded to the incident saying they do not condone the behavior of the officers and that action will be taken without fear or favour.

“The ZRP is investigating the alleged tear smoke incident on a Mlaudzi bus where people are seen scurrying to safety and assistance on a video which has gone viral on social media.

“The ZRP does not condone such acts by police officers and will certainly ensure action is taken without fear or favour. The public is urged to assist in identifying these officers and also the exact place where the incident took place,” said the police.

Sticky Fingered Prophet Nabbed

Bribe Taking Chitungwiza Policeman Shamed

By A Correspondent- A Chitungwiza policeman has been shamed for demanding a US$100 bribe before returning it to a businessman after being reported to his superiors.

Assistant Inspector Archford Gerald Muguta allegedly demanded US$100 from a businessman who operates bottle stores and restaurants and he was given the money before a complaint was lodged, leading to his shaming.

Officer Commanding Chitungwiza District Chief Superintendent Severino Muguti acknowledged that the issue had been brought to his attention and they were making investigations.

“Once an issue is brought up, we conduct investigations and if the officer is found wanting, he is charged,” said Chief Supt Muguti adding that any other communication is channelled through the police public relations department.

Muguta told H-Metro that it was an old case and that he had returned the money after a complaint was lodged.

“Zvakatopera. The money was returned, it is an old issue.

“Let me come there and explain what happened,” he said.

Called later to explain more on the issue, Muguta attacked this journalist before hanging up the phone.

There is a recorded phone call where the caller believed to be Muguta was trying to sweet-talk the businessman.

“Mukanya (businessman) ko wondipisireiko iwe? Ndafonerwa manje manje neH-Metro zvichinzi ndakatora mari ndikaidzosera,” said Muguta.

He told Mukanya that he had told H-Metro in a phone call that the video he appears in while taking the money was fake.

“Mari iya ndakaipihwirwa pacharge office and there was no one recording the video ndizvo zvandamuudza.

“Ndamuudza kuti mavideo enyu amunawo ndeekubikira. Ndamuudza kuti nyaya yacho ndeya kare,” he said.

Mukanya said he was shocked with Muguta’s bribe demand which he then gave him, but not before lodging a complaint with the latter’s superiors.

“It irked me that a person could just come and demand money just like that.

“What wrong did I do?

“I told his superiors and the money was returned,” said Mukanya.

Zanu Pf Chairman Hauled To Court Over Violence

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF’s chairman for Harare province Goodwills Masimirembwa had a chair thrown at him during preparations for chaotic district elections held last weekend.

Masimirembwa’s deputy, Godwin Gomwe, appeared in court charged with assault over the September 24 incident.

Gomwe, who is accused of throwing the chair which left Masimirembwa with a scratch on his leg, was remanded to October 25 for trial by Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi.

The National Prosecuting Authority alleged that Masimirembwa chaired a Zanu PF provincial meeting at the party headquarters in Harare to discuss impending district elections.

Gomwe arrived as the meeting was ending at around 1.15 PM and immediately complained that the meeting was held without him being notified.

Masimirembwa, the court heard, advised Gomwe that notice of the meeting was sent through a Whatsapp message.

Gomwe allegedly accused Masimirembwa of creating fictitious party districts to facilitate the rigging of internal elections in favour of Harare’s minister of state, Oliver Chidau, in forthcoming Zanu PF provincial elections.

Gomwe is alleged to have shouted obscenities at Masimirembwa saying he will deal with him.

He allegedly proceeded to pick up a chair which he threw onto the legs of the Masimirembwa, who was seated.

The prosecution says the chair, which is held as an exhibit, caused a scratch to Masimirembwa’s right leg.

Zanu PF is still dealing with the fallout from last weekend’s district elections amid widespread allegations of vote manipulation.

Violent scenes were witnessed in the Midlands, Mashonaland Central and Manicaland as officials clashed during the divisive vote.

EMA SPEAKS OUT ON CHINESE MINER’S OPERATIONS IN UZUMBA

NATIONAL LOCAL

Information Alert

30 September 2021

The Environmental Management Agency (EMA) says it is yet to receive an environmental impact assessment report from Heijin Mining Company, a Chinese mining company, which is on the verge of displacing several villagers from their ancestral land in Uzumba Maramba-Pfungwe.

On 2 September 2021, Tinashe Chinopfukutwa of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) wrote a letter to the Mining Commissioner for Mashonaland East province and to the Environmental Management Agency seeking explanations regarding the existence of a prospecting licence authorising Heijin Mining Company to peg the village so as to conduct
mining activities.

This came after villagers engaged ZLHR as they were at the risk of losing their homesteads, farming fields and grazing land to Heijin Mining Company.

In the letter, Chinopfukutwa said in the event that a prospecting licence was granted to Heijin Mining Company, then the pegging of Kaseke Village is unlawful as a holder of a prospecting licence shall not exercise any of the rights conferred in terms of the prospecting licence on communal land without the consent of the occupier.

The human rights lawyer stated that the pegging of Kaseke Village without consultation and the consent of the occupiers of the land is unlawful and that in terms of Section 31(1)(h) of the Mines and Minerals Act, no holder of a prospecting licence can proceed to peg
communal land occupied as a village without the written consent of the Rural District Council of the area concerned.

Chinopfukutwa asked if any Environmental Impact Assessment was conducted in relation to the mining project and to be furnished with an Environmental Impact Assessment report and a copy of the certificate approving the prospecting and pegging of Kaseke Village by
Heijin Mining Company. However, in response to the request by ZLHR, Juliet Mavu, EMA’s
Provincial Environmental Manager for Mashonaland East province, disclosed that Heijin Mining Company is yet to submit an Environmental Impact Assessment report for its intended mining project and therefore no Environmental Impact Assessment Certificate has been issued out to the miner.

The Environmental Impact Assessment report, is an instrument which is relied upon to identify and assess the potential environmental, social and health impacts of a proposed project, evaluate alternatives, and design appropriate environmental and social management plans during the lifecycle of the project.

Mavu said EMA received a prospectus for the proposed Kaseke and Chibvi 2 black granite mining, cutting and polishing plant in Uzumba Maramba-Pfungwe District from Heijing Mining on 29 June 2021.

Surrender Your Goblins Before It’s Too Late, Zim Prophet Orders Ramaphosa Ministers

Own Correspondent

The President of South Africa, Cyrial Ramaphosa is reportedly under pressure following claims by Zimbabwean preacher Isaac Makomichi that there are witches in his cabinet.

The preacher further claims the “witches” are stealing public funds to buy houses for their sangomas so that they will occupy high positions forever.

Makomichi is known of performing controversial miracles including moving mountains, filling empty wells with clean water and making people rich.

Some Christians describe Makomichi as a magician who uses secret powers to perform miracles.

Makomichi also claimed the ministers must come to him to surrender their goblins before it’s too late.

“With all the respect I would love to see President Ramaphosa to pray for him, he is a good leader but the problem is that there are few witches in his cabinet.

Those ministers are stealing public funds to buy houses for their sangomas, one of his ministers is in trouble with his goblin and the other one – her goblin feeds drinks blood of senior officials.

Those ministers must surrender their goblins.
They must feel free to contact me on my WhatsApp +263777469342. I will kill their goblins and then give them holy oil for protection. These ministers joined cults and they are destroying the people of South Africa,” claimed Makomichi…

OPINION: Zimbabwe Under Attack As The United Nations Special Rapporteur Is Deployed.

By Dr Masimba Mavaza| THE United Nations (UN) will deploy a special rapporteur to Zimbabwe to probe the impact of sanctions on the country and determine if President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government was not using them as a scapegoat to the prevailing economic crisis.

The UN special rapporteur Alena Douhan, from Belarus, will be in Zimbabwe from October 18 to 28 at the invitation of government. Her visit will include meeting the government officials, the opposition and members of civic society. She will again hear from general public and more specifically concentrate on how the law is being applied in Zimbabwe. The report she will write and her findings will be presented to the UN Human Rights Council at its 51st session to be held in September next year.

“She is currently seeking the views of all relevant stakeholders to inform the thematic and geographical focus of the visit and subsequent reporting,” read a statement by the office of the UN Human Rights High Commissioner. “In order to gather first-hand information related to the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures on the enjoyment of human rights in a specific country, enabling her to conduct her assessment and evaluation of such impacts, and thus to prepare relevant recommendations and guidelines on means to mitigate or eliminate these adverse impacts, the special rapporteur undertakes field visits.”

Zimbabwe has been under US sanctions since 2001 when the world super power, the United States, signed the Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act into law in response to the land redistribution program and in pursuit of regime change.

The sanctions have been renewed over the years since 2001 and in March 2021, the US renewed its sanctions regimes in respect of Zimbabwe after the MDC trio of Nelson Chamisa and Tendai Biti went to America to ask for more sanctions.

These sanctions have caused untold suffering of the children of Zimbabwe pushing our economy down. Despite the pleas by President Mnangagwa and the former President RG Mugabe the sanctions remained on our throat.

To add salt to the injury the European Union (EU) also imposed sanctions, which they described as targeted even though the target was the whole country.

Despite the serious sufferings caused by these Sanctions on Zimbabwe and the untold suffering it came with, in February this year, the EU renewed its sanctions on Zimbabwe, imposing an arms embargo and a targeted asset freeze against the Zimbabwe Defence Industries for one year until 20 February 2022.

The EU justified this evil deed by saying “in light of the “continued deterioration of the humanitarian, economic and social situation” in Zimbabwe, and “the continuing need to investigate the role of security force actors in human rights abuses”.

This was a lame excuse but it motivated The UK government to also slap an asset freeze and travel ban on four Zimbabwean senior security sector officials, who are said to be responsible for committing serious human rights violations and, as such, undermining the rule of law.”

The late former President Robert Mugabe, correctly stated that sanctions were hurting the ordinary people.

President Mnangagwa, when he assumed power, said that sanctions were derailing the country’s economic recovery and he has been engaging the West to review their sanctions regime. To this end Cde Mnangagwa has invited the UN to see the extent of the sanctions.
If it was my way the inspector should be booked at Nyamutamba Hotel in Chitungwiza so that she experiences the effects of the sanctions first hand.

Other officials and companies linked to the governing party are also on the sanctions list and this has affected those employed by these companies.

In March 2017, the Human Rights Council adopted resolution 34/13 on human rights and unilateral coercive measures that stressed that unilateral coercive measures and legislation violated international law.

The resolutions also highlighted that in the long-term, the measures may result in social problems and raise humanitarian concerns in the States targeted.

But local opposition parties and observers who are sympathisers of the opposition parties have begged for more sanctions against Zimbabwe regardless of the impact on the common person. They argued that in Zimbabwe, sanctions were not behind the economic crisis.

The special rapporteur will meet various representatives of government before having private meetings with UN agencies in Zimbabwe, as well as international and regional organisations, international financial institutions, the national human rights institution, and representatives of the diplomatic community present in Harare.

It is this time surprisingly the opposition will start to exaggerate on things in Zimbabwe so that they can get the sympathy of those oppressing us. There will be a lot of stage managed issues which will border on the side of abuse in order to convince their handlers that Zimbabwe is not in a good state to have sanctions lifted. The importance of independent external monitoring of countries to prevent torture or ill-treatment from occurring is well established.

The principle that the inspection and monitoring of other countries can promote the protection of human rights and prevent torture and ill-treatment has become well established in international human rights law. While international human rights instruments make it clear that independent monitoring of is the gold standard when it comes to protecting rights, regional forms of inspection can also play important roles in fulfilling authorities’ human rights obligations.

Internal or governmental prison inspection can take many forms, including auditing and budgetary reviews, examinations of human resources issues, and investigations of compliance with protocols and policies.

Zimbabwe has started expressing concern that the opposition is exhibited an insufficient degree of political polarization. What a difference the new dispensation made. As we approach 2023s Election Day, the Zimbabwe political landscape has become a Grand Canyon uniting all political divides.

Despite a pervasive presence in politics, lying has played a role in formal models of elections, and the opposition have taken it a step further by lying to the international world in order to pile more sanctions on Zimbabwe.

The Western world has developed a model that allows opposition parties in the campaign stage to misrepresent their policy intentions if elected to office, and in which the willingness to lie varies across candidates. You will find that the opposition is more willing to lie and is favoured by those who advocate for a regime change. this advantage is limited by the electoral mechanism and to such an extent that more honest candidates win a significant fraction of elections.

Most notably, the possibility that some candidates lie more than others affects the behavior of all candidates, changing the nature of political campaigns in an empirically consistent manner. This effect also implies that misleading conclusions will be drawn if homogeneous candidate honesty is assumed.

The Zimbabwean situation is simply the word of the opposition against that of the people of Zimbabwe. And, depending where you have read or heard about the accusations and counter-accusations flying between the opposition and the rest of Zimbabwe you will realise that the opposition is being a trifle “economical with the truth”. The fact that most of what Western world see will have originated in either leaks from unnamed witnesses, or via the as yet unsubstantiated claims on MDC complaining machine will have only further muddied the waters.

But the biggest problem the West and their boys in Zimbabwean opposition have is that a growing number of people, whether inside or outside the Western bubble, are finding it increasingly difficult to take either side at their word.

They have both long been devotees of what can be called strategic lying”. This is a technique coined by the opposition in their campaign and played masterfully during many elections campaigns in which they tell a deliberate lie with the purpose of shifting the news agenda onto their preferred territory.

It doesn’t matter if their lie is easily rebutted. The ultimate goal of strategic lying is to have an impact on the salience of issues. Calling for a guard rail against these lies to come from within the West quickly goes from curious to bewildering, along with the second embedded presumption that politics and compromise are a natural pairing rather than a contradiction in terms.

We must always remember that mud sticks visibly on clean clothes. This does not make mud part of the clean surface. Striking quick and hard is one of the key components of the strategic lie playbook, as the sanctions advocates demonstrated and could also be seen during the 2018 general election.

Clearly, strategic lying raises a number of major ethical issues, but there is also an important practical one.

The quality of our democracy depends on the quality of the political debate within the public sphere. New campaigning techniques of sanction begging represent a real threat to both the debate and our democracy and something needs to be done urgently to address this problem.

Each time something is to take place in the international space the opposition starts lying with a straight face. One wonders why was it easy for tendai Biti to skip court towards the United Nations General Assembly. It was all strategical. He was literally begging for a warrant of arrest so that they can tell the UN that they are being tormented for being the opposition. This explains why The three MDC infamous laddies of J Mamombe C Chimbiru and another absconded court few days before the UN Assembly. It was to portray Zimbabwe as an authoritarian nation.

It is more curious that social media is awash with the video of a bus alleged to have had a tear gas canister thrown in the bus full of passengers. This video does not show a single police officer in the vicinity.

If the tear smoke was thrown in by an officer surely this officer was way out of line.
If thorough investigations are done you will realise that this officer could have been a member of the opposition bent on soiling the name of our police force.

The opposition is so fond of lying such that there is no difference between a liar and an MDC official. They naturally lie and have no shame for it.

If you continue looking at the space you will see a sharp increase in the cases of abuse of power. The reason is simply the MDC wants to have evidence to give to their handlers and have enough evidence to maintain sanctions.

For us to try and rebut the lies being peddled in the different forums it will look like we have something to hide.
It is evil that we have people who are in our country but seriously digging a hole to mess the country.

Chamisa and Biti must remember that if you drill a hole in a boat you the will sink with you in it. Calling for sanctions does not give votes. It simply makes you an enemy of the people.

Zimbabwe has nothing to hide and looks forward for the UN representative to come to Zimbabwe. We pray she will be able to see the fiction from reality.

Zimbabwe is the only country we can call ours in the whole world.

Police At It Again- Teargas Bus Full Of Passengers

By A Correspondent- Police have started investigating a case in which some unidentified police officers on Tuesday threw teargas canisters into a Mulaudzi Bus full of passengers at an area yet to be identified.

Although police are still not yet sure about the scene, a viral video circulating on social media shows distraught passengers, including children, struggling to disembark from the tear smoke-filled bus through windows.

A child is seen falling face down upon exiting the bus while a woman drenches another child’s face with water in a bid to neutralise the smoke’s effect.

Some people allege that the incident occurred near Fidelity housing scheme in Harare located along the Harare-Masvingo highway while others said it was in Masvingo.

Other people also alleged that it was in Beitbridge.

The Beitbridge bound bus was alleged to have been involved in a high-speed chase with the police before being teargassed forcing the passengers to jump out of the bus.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said disciplinary action will be taken against the officers involved.

“Investigations are still in progress and we will take action against those errant officers.

“We are still trying to find out the area in which the incident occurred to ascertain whether it’s Harare, Masvingo, Mutare or Beitbridge. But what I can assure you is that action will be taken and we want these officers to account for their actions,” he said.

In October last year, seven police officers threw teargas canisters into a Rimbi bus full of passengers at the Harare Exhibition Park. The seven police officers, who were arrested after the incident, had wanted to arrest the bus driver because he had a Class 2 driver’s licence instead of a Class 1 required to drive buses.

The officers were identified, with the one responsible for throwing the canister having been arrested.

“Disciplinary action was taken against the officer responsible and he has since engaged lawyers and the matter is still pending before the courts.

“However, we want to give a stern warning to officers who engage in activities that tarnish the image of the force that action will be taken,” Asst Comm said.-statemedia

Khanyi Mbau Re-unites With Zim Bae Kudzai

The Law Is Struggling To Keep Up With Technology

By Jacob Mutisi- Now that the cyber security and data protection bill is awaiting the signature of the President of Zimbabwe to become law.

The purpose of the bill is to consolidate cyber related offences and provide for data protection with due regard to the Declaration of Rights under the Constitution and the public and national interest, to establish a Cyber Security Centre and a Data Protection Authority, to provide for their functions, provide for investigation and collection of evidence of cyber crime and unauthorised data collection and breaches, and to provide for admissibility of electronic evidence for such offences.

The  bill will create a technology driven business environment and encourage technological development and the lawful use of technology.  It is now over since the bill was proposed and crafted taking into cognisance how technology has and is fast progressing in our country let alone throughout .

Technology is advancing at a breakneck pace. With each passing day, new technologies and advancements make our world easier, safer and point toward a brighter future. But with each advancement and innovation, legal issues arise.

Due to the time it has taken to complete the legal process there are so many shortfalls on our current bill which has risen since the time it was formulated. As you peruse through the bill there are terms like mobile money, social media and electronic transactions that are not mentioned anywhere in the bill.

The bill does not provide laws that protect the number one form of transacting in Zimbabwe which is the use of mobile money. In fact the term mobile money is not referred to in the cyber security and data protection bill.

Mobile money is an innovation that provides financial transaction services via mobile phone, including to the unbanked community in Zimbabwe. The technology has spread rapidly in Zimbabwe, “leapfrogging” the provision of formal banking services by solving the problems of weak institutional infrastructure and the cost structure of conventional banking.

Majority of Zimbabwean cyber crimes are now being executed through these platforms and are mostly recorded as fraud as our legal framework has no provision of mobile money crimes. There is now an immediate need to revisit the bill and include mobile money using the commonly used mode of introducing new law through the SIs.

Another term that is missing in the bill is , social media has become one of the most prominent forms of communication. Messages conveyed via social media may have numerous ramifications which can lead to legal prosecution and dismissals.

On a personal level, insensitive and quarrelsome users can significantly affect the lives of others through defamation, trolling and bullying. From a business perspective, the employer-employee relationship is complicated by, amongst other issues, risks to reputation, goodwill, defamation, vicarious liability, and the divulgence of confidential information.

There is a need to immediately revisit the bill and include the implications of social media laws that protect the nation and its citizens.

We are a cashless society and Zimbabwe’s financial technology has continued to evolve at a faster rate than ever, and as banking and money management becomes increasingly electronic.

It is a well known fact that new capabilities are not only for convenience, but also come with security issues. Electronic transacting refers to the transfer of funds from one account to another through electronic method. This form of transacting is not fully covered in the bill.

With this new cyber security and data protection bill ICT professionals are calling for the Government of Zimbabwe to immediately put together a group of ICT and cyber security advisory board that will revisit the bill and advise the government on areas that need immediate attention before the legal framework is put into action.

Shock As Malawi MP Kills Self In Parliament

By A Correspondent- A high-ranking former Malawian MP, Clement Chiwaya, has shot himself dead in an office in parliament.

Mr Chiwaya, who was a wheelchair user after he contracted polio at the age of two, served as deputy speaker between 2014 and 2019.

In a note he left shortly before the shooting, he wrote about the dispute he had with parliamentary officials over the ownership of a specially adapted vehicle.

After stepping down as deputy speaker he began a process to allow him to buy the car provided by parliament that enabled him to drive despite his disability.

He paid for the vehicle but he accused parliament of failing to transfer ownership. In a statement released after the ex-MP’s death, parliament said that the matter was still in court.

Local media are reporting that Mr Chiwaya entered the office of the clerk of parliament on Thursday and shot himself with the clerk watching.

In his note, he said he was tired of begging for what belonged to him and said he took his own life for fear of “hurting others”.

Mr Chiwaya, born in 1971, became a disability rights activist and successfully ran as an MP three times.

Police are now investigating how he was able to enter parliament, which is usually under heavy security, with a loaded pistol. In its statement parliament said that security officials thought that it was his wheelchair that triggered the metal detectors.

“Povo- Wake Up To The Reality. ZEC Has Done Worse”

Horror Mix- Up At Graveyard

graves

By A Correspondent- The Bulawayo City Council’s records of cemeteries are in shambles leading to the mislaying of the dead in reserved graves and the reopening of graves with remains.

According to the Council, this is what led to the mix up for the Ngulube family when their father’s reserved grave was found with human remains.

In August, Bulawayo City Council initiated investigations of possible theft of reserved burial space at Athlone Cemetery after the family of the late Mr John Jani Ngulube (103) had to endure the horror of finding human remains in his last rest place and two other graves which had been offered as replacements.

He had paid the local authority for the reserved grave for the last 20 years, preparing for his death.

According to Council spokesperson, Mrs Nesisa Mpofu, their investigations revealed that there was a mix up in records.

“Further investigations revealed that the reserved graves for the affected family (Ngulube family) are still available and unused. There was a mix up in locating the exact position due to staff turnover and a mix-up of records,” said Mrs Mpofu.

There were fears that the graves might contain bodies of murdered people and used as a cover up, since some are not identified.

Mrs Mpofu said their investigations will not involve digging up reserved graves to find out if they are empty.

“These are possibly proper burials that were done and there was a mix up with records. Exhumation can only be done if there has been a request for exhumation,” she said.-Statemedia

Zanu PF Official Arrested For Beating Up Mnangagwa Ally

A Correspondent- Zanu PF Harare Provincial deputy chairman Godwin Gomwe has been arrested for beating his boss.

Gomwe appeared at Harare magistrates court facing charges of throwing a chair at Zanu PF Harare Provincial Chairman Goodwills Masimirembwa at the party’s offices last weekend.

Gomwe was remanded to October 25 for trial by Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi.

The court heard that Masimirembwa chaired a Zanu PF provincial meeting at the party headquarters in Harare to discuss impending district elections.

Gomwe is alleged to have shouted obscenities at Masimirembwa, saying he would deal with him.

President Chamisa Bemoans Economic Meltdown…

Tinashe Sambiri | Zimbabwe’s economy requires permanent transformation strategies not stopgap measures meant to hoodwink citizens, MDC Alliance leader President Nelson Chamisa has said.

The economy is fragile as a result of poor government policies, according to President Chamisa.

He also presented the MDC Alliance economic recovery plan.

See statement below:

The economic ‘stability’ is fragile stability and is not going to last! The 2 giant elephants in the room are exchange rate disparities between the formal rate & black markets which are far apart by 100% (the black market rate is 2x the official rate) and corruption.

We will have a rapid accelerated transformation and a boom in the economy that would make Zimbabwe shine great & more importantly create gainful employment opportunities for all the people, raising the standard of living for the hardworking Zimbabwean people.

Our New Government will institute a market-sensitive, people- centered & development-oriented sound economic policies which are predictable, consistent, investor friendly & business boosting thus fostering an enabling business environment which guarantees return on investments

The exchange rate disparities and the punitive export retention negatively affect exporters – the goose which lays the golden eggs. This has created arbitrage opportunities and unofficial forex trading which will worsen the disparities, total collapse of the auction system.

Sleeping Woman Gets Phonecall from Pastor

A man who assaulted his wife with a baton and fists after she received a phone call from her pastor while they were sleeping has been arrested.

A source close to the couple said Nomazulu Khumalo, a nurse stationed at Gokwe General Hospital, on Tuesday this week visited her husband, Julius Takaidza (41), in Bulawayo.

She received a phone call while in bed and things turned ugly for her.

“While they were sleeping at around 10pm on Tuesday, Nomazulu received a phone call from a man she said was her ‘pastor’. When she answered the call, her husband listened to the conversation,” said the source.

After the phone call, he accused her of cheating on him with her pastor.

“He fumed at his wife and accused her of cheating on him with a pastor. After that he leapt from the bed and thumped his wife with a baton. As if that was not enough he severely hit her with fists all over the body. She sustained bruises on the body and a swollen face,” said a source.

After being assaulted Nomazulu rushed to Tshabalala Police Station and reported the assault.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident. He urged couples to solve their differences amicably or engage elders in the community whenever they are faced with a dispute than to take the law into their hands. -B Metro

Teen Arrested For Poking Fingers Into 3y Old’s Privates

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly inserting his finger into the privates of a three-year-old.
The incident happened this week on Monday in Cowdray Park suburb.Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and urged parents to monitor their children.

“Times have changed and now we are living in a globalised world so this means our children are copying what they see on TV and practise it.

“We would like to urge parents to monitor what their children watch because if they let them watch anything on TV, they could watch X-rated films and such films have a bad influence on the children.

There is a high probability that the 14-year-old could have watched X- rated film,” he said.

A family insider said on the fateful day the boy was playing with the child and she got too tired and the 14-year-old neighbour carried her to his home and put her on his bed.

“They spent a large chunk of time playing together, and the child felt tired. The boy carried her to his home and laid her on his bed in his bedroom.

“He then inserted his forefinger into her private parts and played with her private parts. The minor woke up to find him having inserted his finger into her private parts, in pain and bleeding as well,” said an insider.

She rushed to her mother and asked her to wash her panty because she was bleeding, the insider added.

Worried by that, her mother asked her what happened to her and she revealed that her neighbour inserted his forefinger into her private parts.

She reported the matter leading to the arrest of the boy. – B Metro

MBINGA-IDIOT: Mudiwa Hood’s Disgusting Video Mind Controlling Other Men’s Wives, Has To Be Gunned Down

– As all our women run to this Male-Witch, something has to be done.

By Dr Blast Jukwa | After all the advice against his abusive boasts which destroy the family institution, one would have thought the singer. Mudiwa Hood would soon apologise to all men for open-zipping into their bedrooms. But alas Mudiwa continues to stay aloof, and after this piece of immoral umbrage, he swiftly beats his chest silently, because he has accomplished his mission- ‘grooming other men’s women so they eventually bed him.’

The Mudiwa Hood stadium video posted online 5 days ago shows a woman battling to escape her man while screaming for the singer.

A skillful ZimEye contributor had to shape out a befitting Mudiwa Hood headline, in a piece of Editorial Satire so to hush the marriage-breaking-abusive-boasts the singer recently uttered as he lowered millions of struggling Zim husbands during this pandemic, in front of their wives.

If the title had been written differently, Mudiwa would have gotten what he gloats for – underpanting other men’s relationships.

Mudiwa recently abused other men by saying their women must forsake them if the man does not have money.

President Robert Mugabe’s son, Chatunga, 2 weeks ago, criticised Mudiwa saying people who mock those trying to make ends meet forget that some have made it in life due to connections while some have tried everything possible but still failed.

Chatunga writing on Twitter, said he had in the past come across people fighting hard to make things work without success.

“being broke is a mindset” statement iri is bullshit. I’ve seen some hustlers who tries very hard but zvichitoramba if yu ar privileged enough to get connections you don’t hve to mock varikuedza or put unnecessary pressure,” said Chatunga.

When the Mudiwa abusive footage came out, the ZimEye contributor on Thursday ended up thrusting out the opposite of the reaction Mudiwa was hoping to get from the public through the footage- shame. This was the most appropriate thing to do seeing the further damage to relationships the latest screaming would cause as some printed out saying “Mudiwa is now hot,” he’s caused a woman to jump away from her man. To this day, Mudiwa who must apologise to his victim, the abused man, has remained mum, perhaps because he has gotten what he was seeking.

So after this video’s surfacing, what will now happen to every marriage – more women will jump out of their seats to bed-worship this Chitungwiza lad?

This Mudiwa utter nonsense must be condemned by all family loving Zimbabweans. Any takers?

President Chamisa Speaks On Deepening Economic Crisis

Tinashe Sambiri|Zimbabwe’s economy requires permanent transformation strategies not stopgap measures meant to hoodwink citizens, MDC Alliance leader President Nelson Chamisa has said.

Rwanda’s Offer to Zimbabwean Teachers, Tip of the Iceberg

Walter Mzembi with Rwanda's president Paul Kagame - file picture

Rwandan President Paul Kagame

Dr Takavafira M. Zhou | As PTUZ, we have over a long period approached the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education with suggestions for government to government agreements for export of teachers at regional, continental and global levels. Such agreements could go a long way in enabling teachers to make money over a period of 5 to 20 years which they can ultimately invest in Zimbabwe in general and education system in particular. Sadly, our suggestions have over a long period been snubbed. We remain disturbed by a mere closetion with Rwandan offer when the whole of Southern African countries are getting teachers from Zimbabwe on a silver platter that also do not have national protection as they are used as cheap labour. There is therefore need to adopt a broad phenomenon approach that can see Zimbabwe benefitting from training and expertise of it’s own teachers in the same way Cuba benefitted from the expertise of it’s own doctors. That panacea can, therefore, not only come from a government to government agreement with Rwanda but with willing countries regionally, continental and globally. Nor must this be restricted to graduates from Chitepo’s ideological school as some warped opinions are suggesting. It is also sad that while outside countries like Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, Swaziland, Mozambique, South Sudan and Rwanda appreciate the expertise of teachers from Zimbabwe, we are busy denigrating teachers at home. What an oxymoron? Is it a case of a disciple failing to get honour in his/her home town, I wonder? As much as the brain circulation can go a long way in injecting capital in the country, we must also ensure a balance and continuous supply by investing in quality public education, and paying teachers in Zimbabwe well.

We have even suggested offering Zimbabwean examinations regionally where it has many takers from Zimbabweans located there and those who envy our education system, but our sound suggestions have not found takers within the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. We certainly cannot make a difference when we have education officials who are not dynamic, innovative and industrious. We even need exchange programmes with other Southern African countries so that we benefit from cross pollination of educational ideas in Southern Africa, more so given the fact that the current borders are artificial creations of colonialists that must never create barriers to development but provide opportunities to brain circulation and development. At any rate we have SADC protocols that can be utilised to make this a reality.

Hopefully the incoming Minister of Education would be receptive to professional ideas and stop Matema’s long march along the commandist road of vandalism and peddled lies.

With more insight, greater planning and dexterity, Zimbabwe can grow to greater heights as an educational hub of Southern Africa.

ZEC Disowns Chamisa

By A Correspondent-The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) has excluded the opposition MDC Alliance from its provisional consultations in provinces meant to discuss electoral developments saying they don’t know who the MDC Alliance is.

The commission is rolling out programmes to discuss the electoral concerns, the legal framework, the electoral cycle, voter registration, delimitation and the polling process in preparation for future elections.
An internal memo indicated that Zec was waiting for instructions from unnamed authorities regarding the MDC Alliance issue.

Speaking to NewsDay on Wednesday, Zec spokesperson commissioner Joyce Kazembe confirmed that the MDC Alliance was not invited. She said:
We did not extend our invitation to MDC Alliance to be part of a stakeholder meeting because the matter regarding the name MDC Alliance is still before the courts.

Now we don’t know who MDC Alliance is before the court’s final judgment; hence we could not invite MDC Alliance. We can’t acknowledge it until the court judgment. As it stands, we await the court judgment to be able to work with MDC Alliance, just like other political parties in Zimbabwe.

MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said the development was confirmation that ZEC was partisan and serves the interests ZANU PF. She added:
The MDC Alliance is the biggest political party in the nation. There is no lawful excuse for barring it from stakeholder engagement.
We are the only political party that has put forward an alternative Electoral Bill. In line with our reform agenda, we have published our principles for reliable, inclusive and credible elections in Zimbabwe as an alternative to the present electoral policies that do not bode well for democracy…

Political analyst Rashweat Mukundu it was not for ZEC to determine who is and who is not a political party adding that barring the MDC Alliance makes Zec an interested party in the fights in the mainstream opposition.
He added that the latest “error” exposed Zec as unqualified to run elections in Zimbabwe, and called for its disbandment.

“Out Zimbabweans First Ahead Of The Chinese”: LEAD

Press Statement

Thursday, 29 Sep 2021 11:27

We are concerned with the people of Zimbabwe are being treated as second class citizens by the government of Zimbabwe.

It now seems as Chinese foreign nationals now have rights to our natural resources more than us native Zimbabweans.

Our fellow brothers, sisters , mothers and fathers deserve to be considered for all investment opportunities in their communal lands ahead of the Chinese in Zimbabwe. Native Zimbabweans at the grassroots continue to be elbowed out of key wealth creation opportunities within the mining sector.

It seems like no one cares about how they feel about the development programs and processes that affect them on a personal basis when they are sidelined and denied opportunities. Their welfare and their health matters as it is highlighted in the constitution of Zimbabwe that everyone has got a right to health, ownership and safety.

We were saved from colonization and imperialism by unity and through unity we shall be saved from exploitation. We are concerned that the Chinese owned mining firm have struck a jackpot in Zimbabwe ‘s warren park area after being controversially granted authority to carry out their activities.

This is harzadous to the health of the people who are nearby residents. This causes structural damage to homes and also affects the environment as it is environmentally unfriendly. Chinese mining firms were also recently accused of displacing communities in Mutoko and Uzumba without clarity on compensation.

It is disappointing to get to grasp how the government doesn’t consider the needs of the people. The people who put their trust in them into power. These activities are also destroying wildlife sanctuaries in Hwange.

The collateral damage that makes Zimbabweans suffer as the government is paying a price to China for tackling the pandemic through vaccines and infrastructural development by sacrificing the health and livelihoods of the people is not fair.

We implore government to consult citizens of Zimbabwe before the rush to enter into deals that continue to impoverish and make our people destitute and helpless.

Any foreign direct investment should promote and upgrade the livelihoods of locals in the areas of investment.

They are at least supposed to do what they have agreed to do and not claim title to communal lands that belong to the people of Zimbabwe.

LEAD stands for justice and for the needs of the people.

We are the voice of the voiceless and we reiterate that no Zimbabwean should be considered last in any investment opportunities.

Let us put Zimbabwe and all Zimbabweans first.

MDC Alliance Youth Assembly Condemns Arrest Of Harare Yuoth Leaders

30-09-2021

The MDC Alliance Youth Assembly is riled by the arrest and detention of its leaders from Harare Province today.

We condemn in strongest terms the arrest of our youth leaders for exercising their right to petition and demonstrate as enshrined in Section 59 of the country’s supreme law,

The Constitution of Zimbabwe. Among those arrested is Harare Province’s Secretary, Denford Ngadziore. Apart from our youth leaders, nearly 8 journalists were rounded up by the police.

This is a clear indication too that Emmerson Mnangagwa’s regime has criminalized journalism. Those arrested were picked up near ZEC Provincial Offices at Cecil House.

As the MDC Alliance Youth Assembly, we want to put it clear to the regime that the arrests are illegal and unconstitutional!

The regime is behaving worse than terrorist organizations like Boko Haram on its very own citizens hence threatening peace if citizens are to respond.

A regime that does not respect citizens’ rights like that of Mnangagwa risks public anger and is a threat to peace.

We demand for the immediate release of our members.

MPs Restless Over Promised Stands

Members of Parliament (MPs) are reportedly restless as their terms of office are coming to an end with the government yet to allocate stands promised to them.

We have government laws which say that we cannot just allocate people stands in bushes without any developments like sewers, roads or any servicing. We agreed that as Parliament, together with the Minister of Finance, money should be allocated for infrastructural development.

We need to look for land, and we agreed to carry out an exercise to ascertain whether there is land. We had another exercise with the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Lands to determine whether there is land in different towns in Zimbabwe so that we fulfil these promises.

He added that the land is available but the challenge is infrastructural development and servicing of such land so that when the MPs are allocated a stand, they can get title deeds as required by the law

By A Correspondent- A couple that began to get steamy in their small Toyota Yaris were left embarrassed when they accidentally knocked the handbrake and were sent flipping down a hill.

A couple had to be embarrassingly rescued by police after their car flipped during a steamy vehicle encounter.

The randy pair were in the middle of a love-making session in their small Toyota Yaris when they accidentally knocked the handbrake.

Company representative Tinashe Paradise Magada (33), who is accused number two in the case, on Wednesday appeared before Harare magistrate Tranos Utawashe, who remanded him to this Thursday for bail ruling.

It is alleged that in February 2019, Magada decided to purchase foreign currency on the parallel market.

He went on to open a corporate bank account whose number is 1036879153 with Steward Bank in the name of Dreams High Investments (Pvt) Ltd, which is accused number one.
