Individuals, Businesses Fall Over Each Other, Donate To Zanu PF

By A Correspondent- Individuals and businesses are reportedly falling over each other to donate towards the Zanu-PF national conference which kicked off yesterday.

Zanu-PF acting spokesperson Mike Bimha told journalists that party members had contributed for their upkeep in different provinces as they will be following proceedings on virtual platforms as measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.

He said companies had also supported the ruling party to ensure a successful conference.

“You have people in provincial centres from districts and will have to have food and accommodation. It shows commitment and support,” Bimha said.

“The private sector came in to assist us, most of them came unsolicited and came in to say, ‘we appreciate what the party and government are doing and want to contribute’.

“One of the forthcoming companies donated some special regalia to the presidium and politburo,” he said, adding the company owners came to thank the party for “allowing an environment for thriving business”.

He said the politburo received reports on the preparations for the conference.

“The people want time to meet with leaders and take stock of what we are doing as a party. Resolutions came from provinces to generate resolutions which have now been brought to the centre and our members are aware of where we want to go in terms of social issues, economic issues, tourism, you name them.”

Zim In SA In Limbo Over Permits

By A Correspondent- Zimbabweans in South Africa are in limbo over the fate of their exemption permits that are set to expire in December this year, as the South African government is mum on the way forward.

Although there is no official figure of how many Zimbabweans are resident in South Africa, reports said there are about 300 000 with the Zimbabwe Exemption Permits (ZEPs) that allow them to live and work in the neighbouring country.

The permits were first issued in 2010 under the Dispensation of Zimbabweans Project (DZP). The programme was renewed in 2014 as the Zimbabwe Special Dispensation Permits (ZSPs) before they were introduced as ZEPs in 2017.

Leader of the African Diaspora Global Network, a migrant-rights organisation based in South Africa, Dr Vusumuzi Sibanda, said Zimbabweans had a legitimate expectation for that government to make an announcement soon so they could plan accordingly.

“The biggest challenge is these permits have been extended or rather, were actually issued for the first time in 2010. Of course now 11 years down the line, the South African government has not communicated, as to whether it intends to renew the permits or not yet there’s an expectation it would renew them,” he said.

Dr Sibanda said Zimbabweans in South Africa, who used those permits are people who have property, are employed and would be affected if the permits were not renewed.

“If the government has decided it is not going to renew those permits obviously, it would have to inform people in advance. The South African may not even rely on the fact that the permits expire in December, so people expect or start to move because of a legitimate expectation born out of the times that permits have been renewed,” he explained.

The migrant activist noted that if the South African government decided not to extend the ZEP, it ought to have informed people well in advance, perhaps a year or two before.

They should have said this time, we are not going to renew those permits so that people can make alternative arrangements. As a result, we are looking at a situation now where people are unsure as to what is going to happen,” Dr Sibanda said.

“Even when people have lease agreements or bank accounts, will these close, end or have such contracts terminated at the end of this year, because no one will want to enter into a contact with people whose permits are expiring at the end of the year.”

In April 2009, South Africa’s cabinet approved what was known as the DZP, allowing permit holders to work, conduct business and study in South Africa.

According to Home Affairs, 295 000 Zimbabweans applied for the permit and just over 245 000 were issued.

This was an attempt to regularise the residence status of those Zimbabweans residing illegally in SA due to political and economic instability at home.

Those permits started expiring in December 2014, prompting Home Affairs to introduce a new permit scheme called the ZSPs, which were valid for three years.

Nearly 198 000 ZSPs were issued, according to the Department of Home Affairs.

When the ZSPs expired in 2017 they were replaced by the ZEPs that were issued in terms of Section 31 of the Immigration Act which allows the Minister of Home Affairs to grant foreigners the rights of permanent residence for a “specified or unspecified period when special circumstances exist” that justify the decision.

Logarusic Finds New Job ?

Former Warriors coach Zdravko Logarusic is reportedly leading the race for the Simba SC post, which is now vacant after the club parted ways Didier Gomes Da Rosa.

Loga was sacked as Warriors coach in September following a string of poor results in which he won only one game in the 14 he oversaw.

The firebrand tactician is, according to reports in Tanzania, likely to replace Da Rosa, who was relieved of his duties after Simba SC were eliminated from the CAF Champions League, by Botswana side Jwaneng Galaxy.

Should he land the post, Logarusic won’t be new in the Simba dugout, having been there between 2013 and 2014.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Luke Malaba Presence At Zanu PF Conference Shocking, Unbelievable – Election Watchdog

Tinashe Sambiri|Controversial Chief Justice, Luke Malaba, made a mockery of his esteemed office after attending the Zanu PF annual conference in Bindura.

Malaba’s integrity is questionable because of his association with Zanu PF and Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa.

In a statement, Zimbabwe Election Advocacy Trust described Malaba’s gambit as shocking and unbelievable.

“We are shocked to note that Chief Justice Luke Malaba is part of the delegation at a ZANU PF conference currently underway in Bindura. His involvement in partisan political activities jeopardizes electoral processes and render the whole Judiciary system biased thereby denting it’s Integrity.

Furthermore, his conduct has bastardized the maxim and principle of separation of powers.

Section 165 sub section 4d of the Constitution prohibits members of the judiciary to attend politcal meetings.

This is a gross violation of the Constitution by a person who is entrusted as a doyen and custodian of the law.We therefore call for his immediate resignation and a quick return to order and sanity in the Judiciary system. ZEAT…. fostering democratic elections!

Former Byo Senator Distances Self Over Facebook Post

By A Correspondent- Former Bulawayo MDC senator, Matson Hlalo has distanced himself from a Facebook post published early this week by the MDC-T claiming the firebrand politician is an active member of the party.

An MDC-T official Christopher Mtetwa posted a photo accompanied with a message implying  that Hlalo, also a former Bulawayo councillor, was one of the people on the photo.

“President Mwonzora will win by over 66% of the ballot. Feeling fantastic with Matson Hlalo and four others in Chikanga 2 Mutare,” reads part Mtetwa’s post.

However, the post immediately attracted the wrath of the former legislator who distanced himself from the Douglas Mwonzora-led party.

“Me and Mwonzora are like oil and water. We do not mix at all. The last time when I had contact with him was several years ago when he caused my expulsion from Parliament,” Hlalo said.

“Mwonzora made sure that the letter of expulsion was hidden from me so that I could not challenge the purported reasons for my dismissal from the party which eventually led to my expulsion from Parliament,” Hlalo told NewZimbabwe.com.

He went on to describe Mwonzora as a crook.

“I do not wish to meet or hear anything about that crooked person. The level of his party’s desperation for support is embarrassing. Feeling fantastic to be with me , my foot!”

Hlalo said he has never been to Mutare for a very long time.

The MDC Alliance Bulawayo provincial spokesperson Swithern Chirowodza said the MDC-T was claiming membership from non-supporters.

“This is not the first time the MDC-T has claimed membership to people who are not their members. We are not surprised by this command membership which the party is trying to borrow from their colleagues in Zanu-PF,” Chirowodza said.

Efforts to get comment from the MDC-T spokesperson Witness Dube were unsuccessful.

Zim’s Most Wanted Armed Robber Skips Bail

By A Correspondent- One of Zimbabwe’s most wanted armed robbery suspects, Conwell Junior Kasambarare (26) believed to be part of Musa Taj Abdul’s gang, and is facing a plethora of robbery and housebreaking charges has jumped bail and police are now hunting him down, yet again.

He was rearrested early this year on charges of committing a spate of heists countrywide, including the famous Mashwede Holdings robbery.

He was granted bail on these armed robbery charges last month but on Tuesday failed to turn up in court for his latest remand hearing and a warrant of arrest was issued.

His suspected accomplice, Mike Harris Chiyangwa, did appear in court as ordered before Harare magistrate Mr Ignatio Mhene but Kasambarare failed to turn up so the State represented by Mr Shepherd Makonde applied for the warrant of arrest.

The two are accused of robbing Petzim Service Station in Machipisa, Highfield, in this latest case. Sources close to the investigations from CID Homicide, which deals with all serious violent crime including robbery, said they were making frantic efforts to locate Kasambarare whose whereabouts are still not known.

On Tuesday this week, the court heard that the two had allegedly armed themselves with an unknown pistol and iron bars then went to the service station in a Mazda truck.

Upon arrival, they asked the security guard whether they had fuel at the pump then suddenly one of them pulled out the pistol and pointed it at the guard.

They allegedly force marched the security guard to the store room where they tied his hands with a belt and ordered him to lie down before breaking into the office and there stole a medical kit, hair clipper and a generator battery before proceeding to the next shop stealing 14 Exide batteries.

When the two were arrested, they allegedly implicated Spicer Takawira and Chamu Takawira as their accomplices and those two are also being charged for the same offence. Kasambarare of Budiriro 2 was arrested together with two other alleged accomplices, Luckson Mudyara (47) of Budiriro 1 and Mike Chiyangwa (32) of Old Highfield.

In February, police launched a manhunt for Kasambarare after he was released last year on bail after facing charges of being part of a gang committing a spate of armed robberies countrywide. He was rearrested but managed to get admitted to bail again.

Spicer Takawira, an alleged accomplice in the Machipisa robbery, was recently arrested on charges of house housebreaking and theft. Kasambarare, Takawira together with Leo Mandaza, Godwin Kusikwenyu and another man only identified as Chamu, allegedly committed seven cases of housebreaking and theft in Harare.

Takawira, Musafare Mupanhanga and Kasambarare are also alleged to be part of the gang that raided Mashwede Holdings last year and got away with over US$100 000, R42 000, $14 000 worth of fuel coupons, firearms and 20 live rounds of ammunition.

In March last year, Mashwede Holdings lost the cash to five workers and nine suspected robbers.

Among the five workers were two brothers related to the business owner, while two were security guards.

The five workers, Mupanhanga and Kasambarare, were then arrested and appeared in court where their case is still pending.-statemedia

“We Are Now More Popular”: ED

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said the ruling ZANU PF will win the 2023 elections saying the party has gained popularity over the past few years.

He attributed the party’s growth and success to “its ability to accelerate the transformation of the socio-economic conditions of Zimbabweans.”

Addressing party members at the end of the ZANU PF 19th National People’s Conference in Bindura this Saturday, Mnangagwa said:

Our structures are vibrant with more active members, supporters and sympathizers. The organisational reach of our party must continue to widen, capturing the greater part of our nation. We are indeed winning our election before election date. Our expansive membership attests to the ever-growing faith, trust and allegiance, which the people have to the revolutionary party.

He added that ZANU PF “under the Second Republic has shown that it is the only party capable of delivering a better and more prosperous future for the people of our great country.”

He speaks when Zimbabwe is submerged under economic, humanitarian, and political crises that manifest through soaring inflation, poor salaries for workers, and a deteriorating democratic space.

Meanwhile, the opposition MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa has also expressed confidence that it will unseat Mnangagwa in 2023.

Political analysts are calling for political and media reforms to ensure that there is a level playing field ahead of the election. They say the current political landscape favours the ruling party.-statemedia

Conflicting Statement Haunt Zanu PF

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF officials have issued contradicting statements on the violence its alleged supporters inflicted on opposition MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa.

Chamisa and his party claim that members of the governing party attempted to assassinate him and at least try to disrupt his “meet the people” tours in rural areas for the past three weeks.

ZANU PF acting political commissar Patrick Chinamasa accused Chamisa of provoking party members when the violence started in Masvingo three weeks ago. Chinamasa said:

What I heard happened in Masvingo was that the opposition leader wanted to force himself on an audience that did not want to listen to him.

He had no right to force people to listen to him. He had a right to address people but only those who were willing to be addressed by him.

In this case, my information is that the villagers did not want to be addressed by him for obvious reasons.

If you listen to a madman, you become part of his cast, you will be portrayed as part of his cast, he will then go ahead and say, I have lots of support, which he does not have.

So our ZANU PF people have a right to say, we don’t want you to address us, we don’t want to, it’s my right, but if you force me to listen to you, I have reason to be angry.

But on Friday, Zanu PF acting spokesperson Mike Bimha said the ruling party had no policy of beating up opposition supporters.

He told NewsDay:

If they are being harassed, beaten or threatened, they should report such cases to the police. The police is there to investigate if they receive those reports. But if they bring the reports to us as a party, we will of course report to the police to investigate.

They have not come to me, or my security department to report such cases. As a party, we have no policy of beating up people. It is not our policy; why should we beat up people? We are an organised organisation.

Some cite election violence over the years as proof that ZANU PF is a violent party. Some also cite the recent violence that marred the party’s restructuring exercise as evidence that violence was inherent in the party.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Thursday admitted that intra-party violence was also tearing the party apart during his address to the Zanu PF central committee.

Ward 2 area Mwenezi east Responsible Authorities and the regime

Ward 2 is a blessed area and has great people in the country who hail from this ward among them Econet CEO D Mboweni.

However it is disheartening to note that we are trailing behind in as far as development is concerned. The responsible authorities seem to be seated relaxed from the comforts of their homes without delivering the much anticipated representation.

Ward 2 needs are brave vibrant and fast moving somebody in council inorder to ensure developmental issues are addressed. Of late we have heard about the college planned to be built in rata however the project has gone to the ashes and no one has piled pressure or speared the project to a success.

Health. Matande area needs a clinic so that it reduces the distance for people from Marande,Rutavo,Machindi villages. If really there was a workaholic WDCO Ward Developmental Committe such projects could have already been kickstarted.

Rata township and the Ward center have got no water. How then can we ensure hygiene and good service delivery when such an important place has got no water. People have to walk for more than a kilometer to fetch water at the township and ward center.

The councillor have hosted several meetings at the place but is still blinkered to see the need for a water source. It should also be noted that the responsible authorities now have a dependency syndrome upon humanitarian aidNGOs.

They have ceased to seek other avenues that create infrastructural development. Politicization of Aid .

The zanu pf regime has always politicized food aid and agricultural inputs and this has left out opposition members or non active people.

At the end, incompetent people who later sell of the agricultural inputs benefit from these aodes through a zanu pf political ticket.

Local entrepreneurs and producers like Masukume Bakery , needs a well innovative councillor in the ward who can find ways through to boost and find a good formidable place and market for the bakery.

Healing. Ward 2 also needs healing following the political violence of 2000 and 2008. People need be enlightened through peaceful and unifying means so that developmental projects move swiftly without suspicions and conflicts.

It is also amazing that in ward 2 there are people who still occupy many different jobs per person.

At times people are not informed of these programs hence the same people in connection continue to benefit eg programs like Peer educators and other voluntary programs.

Road Infrastrucure Chikwavaire road has been neglected ut needs attention and we need our councillor knocking the doors of those that should rehabilitate the road that connects with Runde river.

There should also be recreational programs to control alcohol abuse by the youth in ward 2. A councillor initiative is crucial at this point.

We need well sponsored ball games. Fishing and canoing activities in the local dams, capentry and welding clubs also have to be established. This would not only occupy people from commiting crimes but would also generate incomes foe tgw local people.

A sound Information and Communication framework for ward 2 is also essential. In a modern day Zimbabwe we expect to have a Netone and Econet powerstation that covers every coner of Negari area.

Unlike the current situation wherenetwork is not available when its cloudy and dont even cover some surrounding areaa like Manhondp village.

We expect our local leadership to have approached these service providers and beg for the issue to addressed. Obviously if approached , econet wouldnt take long to address. Surely ward 2 needs grace, we lack such type of leadership that can represent people across all lines. They have no people’s interests at heart.

They just enjoy allowances they get at meetings and workshops. Come elections they would want to use force to get our votes. Instead of addressind bread and butter issues they are concentrating on trailing and silencing the voices of the poor Timothys in the ward.

How can we achieve or develop our ward when the level of hatred we have against an opposing voice is just so high. Toilets Toilets . Many households have no proper toilets some use the bush.

We need our Councillor to push and foward such issues to the donor community and to the council for assistance. Instead of repeatedly preaching pfumvunza and sloganeering Pamberi leaders should be discussing and ensuring healthy and hygienic service delivery to tge tac payer villagers.

We need someone who can make stastical assessement and a proper report of what needs to be done to develop our Negari.

Traditional leaders should not be frog marched to Zanu pf meeting they should be apolitical and not take sides. We need them to advise and identify areas that need to be developed. Therefore Zanu pf politicians should let hands off traditional leaders and stop using them as their commissars.

Development comes after peace, unity and love.

Biti Breathes Fire Over UN Special Rapporteur’s Biased Report

By A Correspondent |MDC Alliance vice president Hon Tendai Biti has said United Nations special rapporteur Alena Douhan is dishonest and biased in her conduct.

Addressing a media briefing in Harare on Friday, Hon Biti accused Douhan of plagiarizing reports she did in Syria and Venezuela.

The report was written prior to her visit to Zimbabwe, according to Hon Biti.

Douhan presented her findings on the impact of Western sanctions on Zimbabwe.

“We had a meeting with Douhan but she was deeply reluctant to take note of our concerns.

She claimed her mandate was narrow and confined to the issue of sanctions imposed on Harare.

We were stunned by the way she refused to listen to our side of the story.

Her report proves beyond doubt that she has totally ignored our grievances.

She is dishonest and biased in her conduct,” said Hon Biti.

“As MDC Alliance, we had a meeting with the UN special rapporteur on coercive measures, from 3pm to 5pm this (Wednesday) afternoon.

She advised us that our views would be considered and that she would hold a press conference and then issue a statement on Thursday.”

“Douhan’s report is shallow, biased and irrelevant. She ignored the flagrant violation of human rights, the issue of stolen elections and the legitimacy crisis,” added Hon Biti.

Douhan’s 10-day visit to probe the impact of sanctions on Zimbabwe ended on Wednesday.

Infidelity Row- Man Torches Neighbor’s Home

By A Correspondent- A man from Emthunzini suburb in Bulawayo assaulted his wife with fists and a rope accusing her of having an affair with their neighbour before he later set his and his alleged love rival homes ablaze.

Tsitsi Mufarachisa (29) is legally married to Themba Handina (32). While the pair were relaxing in the living room Themba accused his wife of two-timing him with their neighbour Maxwell Machiwa (34). When Tsitsi tried to defend herself, her husband charged at her and grabbed her by the throat.

“He bashed her with fists all over the body. As if that was not enough he reached for a rope and thrashed her all over the body with it. In the process, he tore her blouse leaving her brea_sts and stomach uncovered,” said a neighbour who declined to be named.

The bare-breas_ted woman managed to free herself from the tight grip of her husband’s hands and sprinted to Emthunzini police base where she reported her man. While she was at the police she received a phone call from a neighbour informing her that her husband had set their home ablaze.

Police accompanied her to their home and were shocked to find property that included their matrimonial bed, blankets, clothes and mealie-meal up in smoke

Themba was not done because later on that day he set his love rival’s employer’s house on fire. He fled and is still at large.

“Property that included sofas, cupboard, bed and kitchen utensils were burnt,” a neighbour added.

Tsitsi denied that she cheated on her husband with Maxwell.

“Maxwell is my neighbour and we are used to each other and there is nothing more than that. One of my neighbours lied to him (Themba) that I’m in love with Maxwell while we are not,” she said.

She added: “He (Themba) accused me about the issue on Saturday in the evening. The following day on Sunday he assaulted me and I failed to wake up because I was in intense pain and my back was swollen. This week on Monday he came from a booze and again he assaulted me with fists and a rope all over the body. I had to run to a police station to report him.”

Maxwell said: “I treat Tsiti as my sister and I’m a family friend to the couple. There is no way I could have fallen in love with her. It’s sad that he set my employer’s rooms on fire.”

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident. The total value of the damaged property is estimated to be US$1 000. Insp Ncube urged couples to engage third parties whenever they are faced with disputes.-HMetro

Hopewell Chin’ono Exposes Alena Douhan Plagiarised Venezuela Report By 77% Overlap Into Zimbabwe’s

By A Correspondent | The award-senior-journalist Hopewell Chin’ono has exposed how the Sanctions Rapporteur, Alena Douhan plagiarised her own report smuggling it into what she claims is her expert investigation over Zimbabwe.

Douhan concluded her Zimbabwe visit on Thursday by announcing a report criticised by many quarters as merely supporting ongoing war crimes.

She on video said her itinerary has included victims of Mnangagwa’s own sanctions against the population, when however her own program she has only government officials listed thereon.

Her visit has been criticised by victims as cruel with 1 August victim, Alison Charles calling her out on what must be done.

https://youtu.be/tb6yxuP-4OA
Alison Charles’s brief message.

Meanwhile, posting on Saturday morning, Chin’ono said Douhan’s Zimbabwean and Venezuelan reports have a 77% similarity overlap.

He said briefly: Douhan plagiarized 26% of her entire Venezuelan report lifting chunks & reproducing them into her Zimbabwean report.

Go to the last tweet to see the word plagiarism percentage.

I have looked at her Zimbabwean report versus her Venezuelan report.

Tomorrow I will look at her Syrian report versus her Zimbabwean report, and versus her Venezuelan report.

This is tragic for a professor, it is a fraud and unethical more so because she is representing the United Nations.

It means she is swindling the people paying for her work, and not producing organic academic work.

A better explanation is that she is paid to produce content meant for propaganda purposes, and not for serious discourse about the subject she claims to be an expert on.

The last 4 slides are the color coordinates that will assist you to draw meaning to her 2 reports!

20% similarity is way too much.
Hers is on 26% which is tragic!

Plagiarism does not only refer to stealing someone’s work, hers is self plagiarism which is unethical.
She didn’t cite this which is deeply problematic!

By A Correspondent- A drunk teenage boy who was scolded by his relative for taking bronco decided to gulp cotton pesticide leading to his death while he was being rushed to a clinic.

The incident happened in Murwira Village, Chisina Ward 3 in Gokwe, Midlands’ province.
A relative who declined to be named said Sibonginkosi Dlamini (16) had become a drug addict as he used to take bronco.

Bronco is a commonly abused cough syrup.

When Dlamini’s relative realised that Dlamini was getting wasted by taking bronco she severely scolded him.

“It was around 8pm last week on Sunday when she sat him down and reprimanded him for taking bronco and warned him to refrain from it.

“It seems that did not go down well with him because at around 9pm he gulped a cotton pesticide and died moments later while he was being rushed to Krima Clinic,” said a relative.

Councillor for Ward 3 Shungu Maruza confirmed the incident.

“We are saddened by the untimely death of the youngster. It is sad because he died without falling sick, but after he was scolded for taking drugs,” he said.

He added: “Children in the past belonged to the whole community, but that has changed thus affecting children’s behaviour as people just watch wrong being done. The laws in the family impact society but we no longer have those laws.”-BMetro

Lawal Ibrahim Fagge, a spokesman for the religious police called Hisbah confirmed the bizarre incident to Xtreme News Nigeria saying;

“Chiefs Own Zanu PF”

By A Correspondent- Chiefs’ Council president Fortune Charumbira Friday publicly declared that chiefs were the owners of the ruling Zanu PF party in open defiance of the national Constitution which forbids traditional leaders from being partisan.

Chief Charumbira made the remarks while addressing delegates at the party’s annual conference in Bindura.

He said:

On behalf of all chiefs and headmen, I want to say, we are together with Zanu PF.

We got invited through a letter and that letter showed who we are. We were invited as delegates, but if you go to the start, we are the owners of Zanu PF.

We come as owners of the party, the reason for the existence of Zanu PF is all about traditional leadership, and it is about injustice.

This party is ours, which is the truth. War veterans, you fought the war, you are shareholders, but we are the owners, and others are members, which is the truth.

Chapter 15.2 of the Constitution forbids traditional leaders from being members of any political party or in any way participate in partisan politics, act in a partisan manner, further the interests of any political party or cause or violate the fundamental rights and freedoms of any person.

Traditional leaders have often been accused of forcing their subjects to support Zanu PF during elections to the extent of threatening to banish them or deny them handouts for supporting the opposition.

Charumbira also claimed that the alleged rift between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga was a lie meant to divide the party. Chiwenga is reportedly leading a faction that is seeking to dislodge Mnangagwa from power.

He warned Zanu PF delegates to stop the divisive power fights which threaten to raze the ruling party following recent violent internal elections.

He added:

This party is ours, we will correct it when it is going astray. You are now having a lot of noise in the party. It hurts us when you fight. This is our party…

This comes weeks after Mnangagwa admitted to the chaos in the ruling party while addressing a politburo meeting.

R10m Fugitive Nabbed

By A Correspondent- A fugitive who swindled a South African company of over R10 million, jumped bail and later sneaked into Zimbabwe where he lay low for almost five years was last week arrested in Zimbabwe.

This was after a successful extradition application by South Africa at the High Court in Harare.

Last week, police stumbled upon Reginald Bernstein in Bulawayo and took him to court where he was committed to prison pending extradition to South Africa.

Bernstein, who enjoys both Zimbabwean and South African citizenship, allegedly swindled his former employer, Dainfern Golf Estate and Country Club’s Home Owners’ Association, of over R1 million and transferred it into his wife’s bank account.

He was employed as an accountant. When he appeared at the Specialised Commercial Crime Court in South Africa in 2016 facing fraud charges, he was freed on bail, ordered to surrender his South African passport, which he did.

But Bernstein vanished, having managed to get a Zimbabwean passport, and police investigations revealed that he had dual citizenship and had fled to Zimbabwe.

A warrant of arrest was issued against Bernstein and a manhunt began. Intelligence gathered by the South African police revealed Bernstein was hiding somewhere in Zimbabwe.

Cooperation between Zimbabwe and South Africa led to a successful application for the suspect’s committal to prison pending extradition.

The South African Government will meet all the costs associated with the extradition of Bernstein.

Bernstein was arrested in March 2018 in Victoria Falls.

A month later, an application for extradition was filed before a Victoria Falls magistrate but was dismissed because the State had no original documents from South Africa.

Mr Mutangadura, who heads the Asset Forfeiture Unit, took over the case on appeal at the High Court and argued the matter until the court ordered the extradition of the fugitive.

New Born Baby Mortuary Mix-up For Mahusekwa Family

By A Correspondent- A Mahusekwa family has refused to bury a new born baby which died at Marondera Provincial Hospital without DNA tests being conducted after an alleged mortuary mix up which saw them failing to collect the body on the first day.

The family is suspecting foul play after the body could not be located on the first day, only to be found the next morning without a tag. The family insists they will only collect the body after DNA tests.

In an interview, family spokesperson Mr Nelson Saidi said they were waiting for DNA results which were conducted yesterday before deciding to bury the baby.

“We were shocked when the health officials told us that they could not locate our baby,” he said. “When the body of our baby was taken to the mortuary it had a tag. We want to know who removed the tag and how the baby was found at a place we had all looked for and failed to locate it, and who removed the tag.

“We had made agreements with health officials that our child was going to be buried, not incinerated. After we processed the death certificate, we were told our baby was nowhere to be found, only to be found the following day.

“So, we refused to bury the baby before DNA results and we are told that the results will be ready after seven days. The baby, which was claimed to be ours, shows signs of having stayed in the mortuary for days, but our baby has only a day in the mortuary and we are not collecting the baby for burial until we are given satisfactory results.”

Marondera Provincial Hospital superintendent Dr Celestino Dege confirmed the incident, saying they were waiting for DNA results to establish what could have transpired.

“We are aware of the incident and as of now we are waiting for the DNA results to ascertain what happened at the mortuary,” he said

Unprotected S_X In Bulawayo Vuzu Parties

By A Correspondent- A study has revealed that there could be rampant backyard abortions by desperate teenagers who indulge in risky sexual activities during Vuzu parties in Bulawayo.

The study entitled ‘Exploring the practice of Vuzus among young people in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe was conducted by Aids Healthcare Foundation (AFH) in partnership with Grassroot Soccer (GRS).

A total of 122 young people were recruited into the study, all drawn from different areas in Bulawayo and the youngest being 15 and the oldest being 24 years old.
Of those, 77 were female and 45 were males.

Some said they participate in Vuzu parties just to trend on social media and gain popularity.
Findings show that absenteeism of parents and guardians often lead them to participate in the parties.
The parties are characterised by alcohol and drug use, sexual activity and usually in secretive gatherings by young people although there are adults who are always keen to provide the venue, drugs and alcohol so that they can take advantage of young girls.
Drugs used include cocaine, meth, lack widow, marijuana, weed cakes, shisha and cough syrup.

The parties are commonly referred to as booze, naked party, orgy party, pool party, rave, emasofeni, turn up, cashtime, get together and house party.
Teenagers in Bulawayo are known to organise these drugs and alcohol-fuelled parties where they engage in sex marathons and other risky behaviours oblivious of the dangers, they put their lives in including unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections like HIV.
Respondents highlighted that during sex marathons, condoms are not used leaving them at a risk of contracting STIs and falling pregnant.
The get-togethers, which are known as Vuzu parties although the source of that word is unknown, often lead to unprotected sex and anti-social behaviour.
Speaking during the launch of the findings of the study GRS country manager Mr Bekimpilo Moyo said Vuzu parties appear to be very common in Bulawayo although the extent to which they have persisted through Covid-19 restrictions remains unknown.
He said a majority of those who attend indicated that they had attended the parties many times ranging from five to 50 times.

“Drug and alcohol abuse are defining characteristics of Vuzu parties and many young people say they partake in order to have fun. Drugs used include cocaine, meth, black widow, marijuana, weed cakes, shisha, cough syrup among others,” said Mr Moyo.
He said they also noted with concern that extreme power dynamics were at play as respondents said older male attendees provide younger female participants with drugs and alcohol to lower their inhibitions and make them lose control.
“Sex workers also attend Vuzu parties and one respondent highlighted that she engaged in transactional sex at Vuzu parties,” said Mr Moyo.
Motivating factors for attendance include peer influence and seeking outlets to relieve stress emanating from home as well as an opportunity to engage in sexual activity.
“There are also concerns about the future consequences of the heavy drinking and drug use at Vuzu parties. One youth respondent noted that his greatest regret of attending the parties was addiction and that some of the girls fell pregnant during the marathons forcing them to conduct abortions with the help of older women as they did not even know who was responsible for the pregnancies.”
He said Vuzu parties are also deemed as an outlet for stress relief from socio-economic problems at home.
Young people also reported that they attend the parties to make money, either through selling drugs or transactional sex.

“When asked about times that they were invited to a Vuzu party but did not attend, youth respondents gave a variety of responses, falling largely into two categories. Curfew or parents being present at home was one reported barrier as well as a lack of transport or pending house chores,” said Mr Moyo.
Some respondents indicated that they lacked money to attend, or that they didn’t have proper clothes to fit in at the party.
“Young people recommend that parents, older residents, police and church leaders should lead a campaign to address Vuzu parties with religious leaders providing spiritual guidance to young people. Using the police to suppress such parties could potentially save a lot of young people from the disastrous effects of Vuzu parties,” said Mr Moyo.
He said other young people requested for risk reduction approaches to Vuzu parties making them safer places with condoms readily available which would make these parties cooler spaces to chill.
Young people further suggested that such parties change venues from secretive to public places and from nights to afternoons.
AHF foundation country programme manager Dr Ernest Chikwati said the study was meant to ascertain what was fuelling the parties, age groups involved and the activities associated.

He said Vuzu parties were not a Bulawayo phenomenon as they are being conducted countrywide but with different names.
“We have discovered that these parties are quite prevalent and it is not only youths who attend sex parties but also adults who are hungry to take advantage of adolescents. Some said they can sleep with five to 10 people per day and its unprotected sex which is very risky,” said Dr Chikwati.
He said there was a need to look at how to address this as youths were saying they do not have enough entertainment and sports facilities where they can have fun.
“We need to revive Ubuntu in the community where we are all responsible for the wellbeing of every child. We have people who do not care to report that Vuzu parties are being held near or next to them,” said Dr Chikwati.
He said going forward, an all-stakeholders meeting will be held to form a committee that will ensure the issue of Vuzu parties is addressed.
“These parties fuel HIV transmission as stated by respondents who say they can have sex marathons without the use of condoms. We need to come together as stakeholders, communities and even politicians and tackle this scourge,” said Dr Chikwati.

Bulawayo provincial Aids coordinator Mrs Sinatra Nyathi said the study was an eye opener for the community especially parents and guardians who must play their part to protect the adolescents.
“We are grateful to our partners who helped us conduct this research and it is clear that these parties are prevalent in the city. As Bulawayo we will unite to come up with a way forward and engage churches, media, parents and all our partner organisations to tackle this challenge,” said Mrs Nyathi.
She highlighted the need to give adolescents a chance to speak out without judgment so that relevant interventions are crafted.
“HIV infections are still rife, these Vuzu parties have also fuelled pregnancies leading to backyard abortions and this leads to maternal deaths.

The protesters threatened to block Chamisa’s motorcade, which they anticipated would pass through the area on its way to Mt Darwin.

Newsday reports that the angry-looking Zanu Pf supporters threatened to attack the news crew for covering their protests, unwittingly revealing that the protest was intended to block Chamisa.

Elephants Impose Curfew In Victoria Falls

By A Correspondent- A herd of elephants has imposed an early curfew in central Victoria Falls.

The elephants roam the streets of the resort town every night starting as early as 7PM, causing residents to be indoors.

Residents who knock off after 7pm have encountered the jumbos on numerous occasions.
Those who reside in the nearby Low Density suburb and Rainbow Flats are forced to retreat indoors as early as 7pm as the presence of jumbos on the streets has become common.
The elephants, sometimes move around in groups of five and there are also some lone rangers.

Perimeter fences and pre-cast walls have been brought down, gardens and fruit trees destroyed as the elephants hunt for food.
There has been no attack on humans although some bulls have reportedly charged at some residents.
The jumbos announce their arrival by shaking and breaking mango tree branches to eat the fruits.
They usually emerge from a bush near Inyathi Safaris along Park Way and they move along the road past Rainbow Hotel gate towards the city centre.

Some Parliamentarians who attended the pre-budget seminar in Victoria Falls recently tested the ‘mighty power’ of the jumbos as one bull temporarily barricaded Park Way near Rainbow Hotel as it slowly moved along the road towards town causing a traffic jam.
Residents are sometimes froced to use alternative longer routes to avoid the jumbos when they knock off from work after 7pm.
Mr Douglas Musiringofa who lives in Dale Crescent in Low Density said the elephants are permanent night visitors.
“It is now dangerous to walk along Dale Crescent at night as elephants from a bush near Baobab Primary School use this road.
The elephants have caused so much damage particularly to livelihoods as they have destroyed gardens. People had turned backyards into gardens but all has been destroyed. The elephants come almost every night,” said Mr Musiringofa.
The residents said the elephants were now an environmental hazard as they scavenge for food in rubbish bins littering the area.

They said during the day baboons were also a menace as they scavenge for food in the same bins.
Another resident Mr Enoch Dzambo who lives along Hobson Drive said besides elephants, they have a challenge with hippos.
“We now know that we can’t just go outdoors at night. They are now a permanent sight like it’s a game viewing zone.
Besides elephants we have two hippos that also come every night and leave in the morning. They will be browsing on the lawn outside and I think they pose more danger than elephants,” he said.
The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority has reported that most human-wildlife conflict deaths are caused by hippos, elephants, crocodiles and lions.
Ms Alice Nzuza of Rainbow Flats said Zimparks rangers once patrolled the area and scared the elephants away but they keep coming back.
“It’s no longer safe to move about after 7pm especially around town or nearby suburbs. The elephants have destroyed all our vegetables and broken our perimeter fence. Mango trees have also been destroyed,” she said.
Another resident Mrs Sikhanyisiwe Mudimba added: “We are now scared of being outdoors at night especially after 7pm.

Most people no longer have gardens and that’s really a livelihood issue.”
Zimparks spokesperson Mr Tinashe Farawo yesterday said he was yet to receive a report on the problem animals in Victoria Falls.

Exemption Permits Dilemma For Zimbabweans In South Africa

Zimbabweans in South Africa are in limbo over the fate of their exemption permits that are set to expire in December this year, as the South African government is mum on the way forward.

“They should have said this time, we are not going to renew those permits so that people can make alternative arrangements.

Doves Suspends Three Employees Over Empty Coffin Saga

By A Correspondent- Doves Funeral Services has suspended three of its employees as it seeks to get to the bottom of a case in which an empty coffin was presented to a bereaved family in Nyanga.

The actual body of deceased Maxwell Chimwamurombe was eventually buried at Mbudzi Cemetery in Harare some days later.

Doves Funeral Services managing director, Mr Talent Maziwisa told The Herald in an interview that the company had nothing to hide and was prepared to use experts such as scientists and carry out DNA tests to ensure that the truth is laid bare.

He said they had since engaged the concerned family members in Nyanga and traditional leaders in the area in their quest to find closure to the case which occurred in March this year. Said Mr Maziwisa:

As management we have created a committee to investigate. The initial preliminary investigations were not conclusive but made it imperative that we engage the family so that they are aware of the concerns we had picked.

Our view is that the whole process is scientifically done, exhumation, DNAs where necessary so that the late Maxwell is laid to rest. As a company we have nothing to hide. We have done three suspensions to clear the ground for thorough internal investigations. We empathise with the family given what they are going through emotionally.

Reports indicate that relatives and friends of the late Maxwell Chimwamurombe gathered in Avilla area, Nyanga in March this year for burial where Doves brought an empty coffin.

Without conducting body viewing due to the prevailing Covid-19 restrictions, the family went on to bury the empty coffin.

Some six months later, the family learnt from sources that Doves had realised the anomaly three days after the burial of an empty coffin, but decided to offer the deceased a pauper’s burial at Mbudzi cemetery without notifying the family.

In a bid to rectify the anomaly, Doves engaged the traditional leaders in Nyanga who fined them a beast and later allowed them to conduct a fresh burial in his area of jurisdiction.

Chief Saunyama, born Victor Saunyama, confirmed engaging Doves Funeral Services.

UN Special Rapporteur Dishonest And Biased, Says Biti

Tinashe Sambiri|MDC Alliance vice president Hon Tendai Biti has said United Nations special rapporteur Alena Douhan is dishonest and biased in her conduct.

War Veterans Reject Zanu PF

Members of the War Veterans’ Welfare Pressure Group (WVWPG) have distanced themselves from ZANU PF, saying they are not concerned about the ruling party’s affairs.

Forty (40) ex-combatants who are WVWPG members were arrested on Tuesday in Harare for protesting against the $16 000 per month pension stipends they are currently getting.

They were taken to various police stations in Harare and charged with inciting public violence.

They are being represented by Tinashe Chinopfukutwa, Paida Saurombe and Blessing Nyamaropa of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.

WVWPG chairperson Amos Sigauke said the heroes of the armed liberation struggle were disappointed with ZANU PF’s lack of concern for their welfare and henceforth, their “political marriage” with the ruling party was over. Said Sigauke:

We are not attending [the ZANU PF Annual People’s Conference currently underway in Bindura] because we are not ZANU PF. We have nothing to do with ZANU PF. We are not involved in ZANU PF politics.

We are not even a ZANU PF faction. ZANU PF has its own problems, which we are not concerned with.

If there is anyone among us who wants to attend the ZANU PF rally, they can go in their own capacity.

We are not concerned about their affairs. What we are concerned with is for government to consider our plight and review our monthly earnings.

If government addresses our concerns, then you will not see us here.

Meanwhile, ZANU PF acting spokesperson Mike Bimha said members of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) were part of the party conference underway in Bindura.

Said Bimha:
The war veterans that were allegedly protesting in town are just a few individuals with their own views detached from the position of the association which is affiliated with our party.

The ZNLWVA is the latest wing that joined to form our party and we are working well with them.

If there were issues with regards to the members’ affiliation to the party, the chairperson Comrade Mutsvangwa would have notified us.

So far, there are no complaints as far as membership of the war veterans in ZANU PF is concerned. War veterans are part of the proceedings of the conference underway.- NewsDay

Protesting War Vets Granted Bail

By A Correspondent- The 39 war veterans who were arrested for demonstrating over low pension payouts on Tuesday have been released on Z$5 000 bail each by a Harare magistrate.

They are being accused of participating in an illegal demonstration with the intent to promote public violence.

Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), representing the veterans of the 1970s war, said the ex-combatants have been in police and prison custody since Tuesday.

The lawyers said their clients were arrested for allegedly singing “Chimurenga songs” during a protest where they intended to hand over a petition to the Parliament of Zimbabwe and to President Mnangagwa’s office detailing their grievances.

The lawyers proceeded to file a bail application seeking the release of the war veterans after Magistrate Mateko dismissed their two applications filed Thursday for the war veterans’ immediate release. Added the lawyers:

Mnangagwa Dismisses Chamisa Assassination Attempts

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa has shocked the nation by saying that the MDC Alliance president Nelson Chamisa was staging his own attacks.

Mnangagwa said this when he was addressing Zanu PF Politburo members Wednesday at the start of his party’s People’s Annual Conference.

“We should ignore the emotional grandstanding by certain elements of our society. We should give them deaf ears. As they try to attract international attention against their own country,” Mnangagwa said.

Chamisa has been under attack by some unruly Zanu PF hooligans in Masvingo, Manicaland and Mashonaland West provinces, where he was having his meet the people rallies.

According to MDC Alliance Vice President Tendai Biti, Chamisa escaped with his life after a bullet whisked in and out of his rear vehicle window, missing him by a few inches in failed attempted assassination in Zimunya area just outside Mutare.

“As he drove from Chipinge an unlawful ambush was mounted, gunshots were fired and one of the bullets actually whisked in the left rear passenger seat where he normally sits as a VIP,” Biti said after the Mutare incident.

“It is quite clear that there is a desperate attempt, a clear attempt to ensure that our party president does not meet Zimbabweans, we condemn in the strongest terms the actions by Zanu pf that are behind these unlawful attacks on our president both in Masvingo and in Manicaland.”

Doves Fires Three Workers Over Corpse Theft

Prophet T Freddy Speaks On Human Manure Passing-Out Congregant

Harare-based preacher, Tapiwa Freddy, has said he was also shocked to see an elderly woman defecating on stage during his healing service recently.

A video that has since gone viral presents Freddy praying for the woman and the woman departs from his presents only to stoop a few metres away and discharge waste in front of all the congregants.

Addressing the video, Freddy said he was also shocked to witness the instant deliverance when he was praying for the woman.

He claims that the elderly woman had not been going to the toilet for some days before she was brought to him for prayers.

 He said:

On praying for her, she instantly received her healing and I was also shocked by the instant deliverance.

We have been witnessing several people vomiting, crying, and manifesting in various ways during their deliverance, and defecating was part of the deliverance since it had to do with stomach disorders.

If you watch other live services used to be carried by the late Prophet TB Joshua you agree with me that some of the people would be screened half-n_aked with their private parts exposed.

Social media critics were, however, not impressed with Prophet T Freddy’s means of healing. Some called out religious leaders to consider their congregants’ dignity when performing their “healing miracles”.

In contrast, others criticized the so-called miraculous healing and accused prophets of exploiting the gullible and the desperate.

Other critics also questioned why he posted that video considering the fact that it was of bad taste. Responding to the critics, Freddy claims that Goodness and Mercy Ministries church posts everything they do during the service.

#BREAKING- UN Watch Slams Alena Douhan’s One Sided Propaganda

Reported the UN Watch in a statement:

In wake of criticism for her one-sided itinerary designed to support the rights-abusing Zimbabwean regime’s efforts to remove international sanctions, UN envoy Alena Douhan was forced to change tack by inviting submissions from opposition voices during her visit to the country.

A Belarus academic, Douhan was appointed in March 2020 by the UN Human Rights Council as its second “Special Rapporteur on the negative impact of the unilateral coercive measures.” The Cuban-backed post was created in a 2014 resolution sponsored by Iran on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement, and was designed to define Western sanctions against rogue regimes as violations of human rights.

Her first report to the UNHRC complained about Western sanctions that target the regimes of Iran, Syria, Venezuela and Cuba. Instead of calling out their gross abuses, Douhan blamed problems in those countries on Western sanctions. In February 2021, she undertook a major propaganda visit to Venezuela, portraying the Maduro regime as a victim of U.S. sanctions. Maduro cited Douhan in his latest speech to the UN General Assembly.

Douhan’s latest visit is to Zimbabwe, a country rated “Not Free” by Freedom House and sanctioned for its poor human rights record by the U.S., the UK the European Union and others.

Zimbabwe’s regime invited Douhan as part of its campaign to lift international sanctions. “We welcome the UN Special Rapporteur Dr, Douhan, who is coming to interact with our people to unpack the effects of sanctions,” said a spokesperson.

“It was a pleasure to welcome the UN special rapporteur for human rights to Zimbabwe,” said President Emmerson Mnangagwa, after meeting with Douhan in the capital Harare. “Her 10-day trip aims to assess the impact of punitive economic sanctions on ordinary Zimbabweans. These sanctions are illegal and hurt the most vulnerable in our society.”

Despite the regime’s claims that international sanctions have undermined the Zimbabwean economy, the reality is that the U.S., UK, EU and others have applied targeted sanctions to individuals and companies linked to the ruling Zanu PF party’s human rights abuses and not against the country itself.

Douhan  to Meet with 26 Regime Ministers

In addition to a meeting with the president, Douhan’s initial itinerary included individual meetings with an astonishing 26 government ministers as well as other officials.

Notably, however, the supposed human rights expert did not plan to meet with members of the opposition or civil society.  Neither would Douhan be speaking with the media as, according to government officials, this would “jeopardize” her mission.

Bizarrely, though, Deputy Foreign Minister David Musabayana claimed that “as a government, we are not even privy to whom she is going to meet. She just said non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civic society groups or any other interested groups would also be involved.”

“As government, we have been asked to stay away from her. We have not looked for her or phoned her. I don’t even know where she is and what she is doing because it is her independent research. She has her own systems on how she is going to navigate, to get the leads and get the information that she needs,” he said.

Is sending 26 ministers to meet Douhan the government’s idea of staying away from her?

Zimbabwean Academic: Douhan is “hardly an honest broker”

The top-heavy emphasis in her itinerary hardly comes as a surprise given Douhan’s previous visit to Venezuela, of which a U.S. State Department spokesperson noted: “Instead of meeting with NGOs, independent journalists, members of the opposition, political prisoners, and other victims of harassment and attacks directed by Maduro and his supporters, the UN Special Rapporteur visiting Caracas spoke almost only to regime insiders and others the regime authorized.”

This sentiment was echoed by UK-based Zimbabwean academic Alex Magaisa, who said “the so-called special rapporteur who comes from Belarus, one of the world’s biggest human rights violators, which is also facing sanctions, is hardly an honest broker. Her itinerary, which is brazenly one-sided, is a clear indicator that the script has already been written in advance.”

Eventually, perhaps under pressure to at least give the impression of balance, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Commission (OHCHR) released a statement inviting submissions from all interested parties saying that Douhan “would also like to meet with non-governmental, business community, civil society organizations and opposition, in particular, those whose activities may be affected by unilateral coercive measures, as well as academics with specific expertise in this field.”

The statement is similar to comments Douhan made during her Venezuela trip where she claimed to have “sought to meet the widest range of people to listen to their experience and insights,” including opposition members. Whether she in fact will meet with and listen to Zimbabwe opposition figures is the question.

If her Venezuela mission is any guide, Douhan’s report to the UNHRC on Zimbabwe, due next year, will likely call for the lifting of sanctions with little or no consideration for the regime’s abuses that prompted them, blame Western democracies for problems caused by Mugabe and his successor, and turn a blind eye to the government’s oppression of the Zimbabwean people.

UPDATE OCT. 29:

As predicted, Alena Douhan called for the lifting of unilateral sanctions against Zimbabwe in a statement released at the conclusion of her visit, saying: “The US and other States should lift their sanctions on targeted individuals and entities and end over-compliance. The time is ripe for sanctioning States and key national stakeholders to engage in a meaningful structured dialogue on political reform, human rights and the rule of law, and abandon rhetoric on sanctions as an advocacy tool.”

According to Zimbabwe’s Times, Douhan “didn’t meet opposition parties outside the Political Actors Dialogue (Polad), a collective of political parties sympathetic to President Emmerson Mnangagwa — something which didn’t sit well with the majority of civic society and the MDC Alliance.”

In her full preliminary report, however, Douhan claimed to have met with a wide cross-section of society but noting “with regret that a substantial number of NGOs and some other interlocutors failed to engage with the mandate due to various hateful and intimidating messages that appeared in social media and news outlets, and an alleged fear of losing foreign donations.” The nature of this is left unclear.

The Times of London noted: “Douhan has a history of blaming problems in countries such as Iran, Syria, Venezuela and Cuba on western sanctions, according to the monitoring group UN Watch.”

Rata township and the Ward center havw got no water.

Doves Funeral Services Sacks Trio Over Empty Coffin Saga

Mr Maziwisa:

Biti Dismisses UN Special Rapporteur Report

Tinashe Sambiri|MDC Alliance vice president Hon Tendai Biti has said United Nations special rapporteur Alena Douhan is dishonest and biased in her conduct.

Another Murder Charge For Ex Cop Who Killed Six

Rosemary Ndlovu

By A Correspondent- Ex Tembisa cop Rosemary Ndlovu continues to make headlines even after her conviction on six counts of murder, with the latest shocking revelations stating that she may have been behind the death of her 13-year-old son who died of food poisoning in 2008.

Ndlovu is in jail for the murder of six people, including her sister and boyfriend, for insurance payout purposes.

During investigations of the six murders, a close family member told police that Ndlovu had another child who died in 2008 and an inquest case was opened due to the circumstances under which he died.

The relative who did not want to be identified asked the investigating officer to revisit the case saying they suspect she killed her son.

Information from the inquest docket revealed that the boy, who was 13-years-old at the time, was admitted at Zamokhuhle due to food poisoning on 30 June 2008.

The boy was discharged on July 12. However, he was rushed back to the same hospital and was declared dead on arrival.

The hospital informed police leading up to the investigation. In her statement, Ndlovu said that the child had a meal at 16h00 then went to bed at 17h00.

When he didn’t get up by around 19h00, Ndlovu said she got worried, went to check up on him and realised that he was not waking up.

She said she called her friends and they rushed the child back to Zamokuhle where he was declared dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, Ndlovu is also accused of organising a hit on her former boss and another cop while she was in prison.

Allegations are that Ndlovu paid an alleged hitman a few hundred rands to kill the two as she blamed them for her arrest.

However, the plan was later exposed and a case of conspiracy to murder was opened in Tembisa in October 2018.

After her arrest, Ndlovu was kept at Johannesburg Prison where she is alleged to have had access to a cellphone. She allegedly attempted to organise the murders of the two.

“She was then transferred to Kgosi Mampuru Prison in Pretoria,” a source said.

Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed that Ndlovu was facing the two additional charges. He did not provide further detail, saying the matter was still under investigation.

“We can confirm that there are two cases of conspiracy to commit murder.

“Both cases were provisionally withdrawn at court pending further investigation. Unfortunately, we cannot divulge more information as the cases are still under investigation,” he said.

Last week, Ndlovu was convicted for the murders of her sister Audrey; Audrey’s son Brilliant Mashego; her live-in lover Yingwani Maurice Mabasa; cousin Witness Madaka Homu; niece Zanele Motha, and another relative Mayeni Mashaba.

She was also found guilty of defeating the ends of justice by tampering with the scene of the crime where Audrey died.

Judge Ramarumo Monama also convicted Ndlovu on four counts of defrauding Clientelle Limited, 1 Life Insurance, Old Mutual and Assupol.

Ndlovu is expected back in court on 5 November where sentencing arguments following her conviction in the six murders would be heard.-

A drunk teenage boy who was scolded by his relative for taking bronco decided to gulp cotton pesticide leading to his death while he was being rushed to a clinic.

Tagwirei Linked Company Demands Apology From Biti

Local civil engineering company Fossil Contracting (Pvt) Limited has threatened to sue MDC-Alliance vice president Tendai Biti for defamation over a tweet in which he allegedly associates it with another local company, Sakunda.

Fossil Contracting (Pvt) Limited has since written a letter of demand to Biti asking him to pull down the tweet in which through his Twitter handle @BitiTendai, he allegedly falsely associated the firm with Sakunda Holdings, which is believed to be under sanctions from the West and so the tweet could see Fossil come under sanctions itself.

In a letter prepared by lawyer Mr Admire Rubaya and sent to Biti on Wednesday, Fossil Contractors demanded that Biti pull down the tweet and apologise through his Twitter handle.

Mr Rubaya, in the letter, said Fossil Contracting (Pvt) Limited had no connections with Sakunda and threatened to sue Biti for defamation in the event that he fails to pull down the tweet and apologise within 48 hours.

Biti allegedly tweeted on September 5, 2021 saying: “Fossil Contracting is #Sakunda. Why are these contracts not subjected to tender? How does a country get owned by a few predatory cartels into everything, mining, fuel, banks, buses, hospitals etc. How does a regime function on banditry, fraud & state capture. #Zimbabwean LivesMatter. Fossil is owned by Sakunda.  Obey is Kuda’s blue eyed boy and sits on many Sakunda Boards.” Fossil Contractors claims that Biti’s tweet was malicious and defamatory to its good reputation.

“The tweet falsely associates our client with an entity which is under sanctions in what appears to be a malicious attempt to attract international sanctions upon our client,” said the firm. “A simple verification with the Companies Registry can and will establish that our client has no ownership relationship with Sakunda.

Our client is neither owned nor controlled by Sakunda, its shareholders, directors and/or proprietors in whatever manner.

“In light of the above, our instructions are to demand, as we hereby do, the publication of a full, unconditional and unreserved withdrawal of the tweet and the related-imputations together with an expression of regret on the tweet relating to our client within 48 hours of receiving this letter.

“This should be tweeted for five consecutive days on your Twitter handle @Biti Tendai. Further, our client instructs us to demand that your Twitter handle pulls down the above-quoted defamatory tweet.

“In the event that you fail to retract the defamatory tweet as demanded, our client shall proceed to issue summons and claim damages for defamation without any further notice to you. We hope there shall be no need to proceed in such a manner and look forward to the unconditional retraction of the defamatory tweet.”

Mr Rubaya, in the letter, said Fossil Contractors was a leading civil engineering contracting company with very strong international ties, links and partnerships. The company has a traceable record of success in construction and civil engineering projects and recently attained ISO certification.

“Our client is also a member of local and international organisations and professional bodies which require very high ethical standards from its members,” said Mr Rubaya.

“The widely published tweet which has global reach has demeaned our client’s status and it has seriously damaged our client’s major asset, which is its goodwill and trading brand.

“Our client’s reputation has been severely damaged. Our client advises us that it is now at the verge of losing many lucrative contracts as the report has cast it in bad light. “Our client is likely to incur quantifiable financial losses.”

Zimbabweans In SA Panic Over Exemption Permits

Zimbabweans in South Africa are in limbo over the fate of their exemption permits that are set to expire in December this year, as the South African government is mum on the way forward.

“They should have said this time, we are not going to renew those permits so that people can make alternative arrangements.

Arrested War Veterans Still Detained

By A Correspondent| Thirty-nine liberation war veterans will spend the night in prison detention after Harare Magistrate Barbra Mateko deferred her ruling to Friday 29 October 2021 on their application seeking to be set free citing violation of their fundamental rights by law enforcements agents who arrested them early this week.

The liberation war veterans, who were arrested by Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers on Tuesday 26 October 2021 in central Harare, were charged with participating in a gathering with intent to promote public violence, breaches of peace or bigotry as defined in Section 37(1)(a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

Prosecutors claimed that the war veterans gathered at Africa Unity Square singing “Chimurenga songs” with the intention to promote pubic violence or breaches of peace or realising that there was a real risk or possibility of forcibly disturbing the peace, security or order of the public.

The war veterans, prosecutors charged, intended to handover a petition to Parliament and at Munhumutapa Building, which houses President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s offices outlining their grievances but were told to only allow five people to do so but reportedly refused and insisted that they all wanted to present as a group.

The prosecutors claimed that the war veterans refused to heed an order issued by ZRP officers to disperse and started singing “revolutionary songs” and thereby disturbing the peace and movement of pedestrians and some vehicles.

In court, the war veterans filed an application seeking an order for their immediate release after telling Magistrate Mateko that their arrest and detention was arbitrary and unlawful as they had not been advised of the charges they were facing upon arrest and were only told on Wednesday 27 October 2021 after their lawyers had protested against the conduct of the law enforcement agents.

The liberation war veterans, who are represented by Paidamoyo Saurombe, Idirashe Chikomba, Tinashe Chinopfukutwa and Blessing Nyamaropa of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights and Chawaona Kanoti also argued that they should be immediately released from custody as they had been detained for more than 48 hours without being brought to court in breach of Section 50 of the Constitution.

Magistrate Mateko, who ordered the detention of the war veterans in remand prison, will hand down her ruling on Friday 29 October 2021 at 11:15 AM.

Man Torches Wife’s Lover’s Home

He said investors were showing increasing confidence in the local economy.

“The signing of a US$1,8 billion agreement attests to the growing confidence of global capital in our economy and the policies of the Second Republic,” said President Mnangagwa

UN Special Rapporteur Releases Statement Before Hearing MDC Alliance Out

By A Correspondent- The Nelson Chamisa-led MDC Alliance has rubbished United Nations special rapporteur Alena Douhan’s report on the outcome of her findings on the impact of Western sanctions on Zimbabwe, describing it as pre-determined as it did not capture the opposition’s views.

MDC Alliance vice-president Tendai Biti claimed in a tweet on Wednesday evening that the UN special envoy exposed her bias by releasing her report mid-way into their meeting.

“We are shocked that the UN and Douhan released its statement in the middle of our consultation. We are the biggest political party in Zimbabwe and we consider such conduct fraudulent, unprofessional and predetermined,” Biti tweeted.

“As MDC Alliance, we had a meeting with the UN special rapporteur on coercive measures, Douhan, from 3pm to 5pm this (Wednesday) afternoon. She advised us that our views would be considered and that she would hold a Press conference and then issue a Press statement (on Thursday).”

The MDC Alliance delegation that met Douhan included Biti, party secretary-general Chalton Hwende, secretary for international relations Gladys Hlyatwayo and welfare secretary Maureen Kademaunga.

Biti described Douhan’s preliminary report as a scandal since it was issued while they were still in a meeting with her.

Douhan’s 10-day visit to probe the impact of sanctions on Zimbabwe ended on Wednesday with an address to the media on her findings.

In the report, the envoy said the southern African country had been on sanctions for too long, hence it was difficult to decipher their impact as several factors needed to be taken into account.

“Unilateral sanctions, secondary sanctions and over-compliance in their complexity have exacerbated the pre-existing economic and humanitarian crisis, inhibiting the building of essential infrastructure and international and inter-institutional co-operation necessary for the achievement of the sustainable development goals,” part of the UN report read.

The UN accused Western countries of influencing her tour by allegedly threatening civic society organisations against meeting her.

“Although the special rapporteur had the opportunity to meet many representatives of independent civil society organisations and human rights defenders, she notes with regret that a substantial number of non-governmental organisations and some other interlocutors failed to engage with the mandate due to various hateful and intimidating messages that appeared in social media and news outlets, and an alleged fear of losing foreign donations,” the UN said in a statement yesterday.

“The special rapporteur reiterates her invitation to all interlocutors to share their views and experiences on the impact of unilateral sanctions on the enjoyment of human rights in Zimbabwe, ahead of the final report.”

Douhan also acknowledged that the country was in deep problems which Zanu PF alone could not solve, calling for meaningful dialogue between Harare and the West, opposition parties, civic organisations and other stakeholders.

A final report will be tabled at the UN Human Rights Commission in September 2020.

Political analyst Enerst Mudzengi said if what Biti claimed was true, then Douhan’s statement was “not a product of full consultations. The rapporteur could have misdirected herself.”

But analyst Alexander Rusero said Biti was undiplomatic in his claims.

“Biti should understand that a preliminary statement is an abstract, it is not the final statement,” he said.

“There is a balance of probabilities, on one side, the lifting of sanctions, which suits the Zanu PF narrative and on the other hand, acknowledgement of the deep-rooted problems in the country which Zanu PF cannot solve alone, but with genuine opposition, which means the MDC Alliance. The MDC Alliance should pick on the positives.”

Another analyst, Eldred Masunungure said: “To be impartial and objective, a special rapporteur, as a fact-finder, cannot midstream release a report that does not seem to capture the breath of opinion from another key stakeholder. That minimises the views of the stakeholders and the rapporteur deserves to be criticised for being partial. What she did shows an attempt to undermine the opinions of other contributors.”

While the UN has called for lifting of sanctions by the West against Zimbabwe as they are hurting the economy, the United States (US) has reiterated that corruption was the cause of Zimbabwe’s economic woes.

US senator Jim Risch, a leading member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said Zimbabwe should implement tangible reforms and stop conducting pointless anti-sanctions campaigns that would not bring social, economic or political reforms.-Newsday

ZANU PF Says We’ve Reached 4 Million Voters After Adding Mai Titi, Passion Java, Madam Boss Facebook Likes

By Farai D Hove | After taking socialites Madam Boss, Mai Titi and Passion Java, the ruling Zanu PF party has announced it has reached four million members across the country following its ongoing restructuring exercise, acting ZANU PF party spokesperson Mike Bimha has claimed.

Two months ago, the heroic Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono shut-the-sports on the foul mouthed pastor Passion Java on how the numbers are everything from suspicious to discredited.

How 2,5 million votes are being created?

“They don’t just rig elections, they also rig YouTube views!,” said Chin’ono.

He continued: ‘Dear ZANUPF comrades, We went to university in Europe and America, and some of our classmates are now executives at social media companies like YouTube! You can lie and rig to rural people but not to us.”

Chin’ono revealed how Java’s Youtube numbers were all just purchased. See tweet below-

This time, speaking during a Central Committee special press briefing at the party headquarters in Harare yesterday, Bimha said the party was more than united ahead of the people’s annual conference where the Zanu PF First Secretary and President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to officially open the indaba today. Bimha said according to the report presented by acting party political commissar Patrick Chinamasa during the Central Committee meeting, the restructuring exercise was progressing well.

“The party is focusing on cell structures and that this exercise has gone well, resulting in the establishment of branches and currently the party districts,” he said. “As of now, we are safely talking of having reached a four million membership in terms of the exercise up to this stage.” Bimha shot down allegations being peddled by naysayers that the party was battling some factionalism, saying it was more than united. Zanu PF Mashonaland Central provincial chairperson, Kazembe Kazembe, leader of the host province for the national annual people’s conference, said all was set for the official opening of the gathering. “We are more than ready to host the other nine provinces,” he said. “In fact, we have been ready for more than one year. We are so excited that this time around it is historic as we are the first province to host a virtual conference in the history of Zanu PF.”

Acting deputy secretary of the Youth League, Tendai Chirau, said the wing, as an endeavour to embrace modernity and use of Information Communication Technology, had developed an automated Whatsapp chat board. Chirau said the chatboard allowed for registration of members as well as interaction. – state media/additional reporting.

LIBERATION WAR VETERANS DETAINED IN PRISON OVER ANTI-GOVT PROTEST

THIRTY-NINE liberation war veterans will spend the night in prison detention after Harare Magistrate Barbra Mateko deferred her ruling to Friday 29 October 2021 on their application seeking to be set free citing violation of their fundamental rights by law enforcements agents who arrested them early this week.

Prosecutors claimed that the war veterans gathered at Africa Unity Square singing “Chimurenga songs” with the intention to promote public violence or breaches of peace or realising that there was a real risk or possibility of forcibly disturbing the peace, security or order of the public.

In court, the war veterans filed an application seeking an order for their immediate release after telling Magistrate Mateko that their arrest and detention was arbitrary and unlawful as they had not been advised of the charges they were facing upon arrest and were only told
on Wednesday 27 October 2021 after their lawyers had protested against the conduct of the law enforcement agents.

The liberation war veterans, who are represented by Paidamoyo Saurombe, Idirashe Chikomba, Tinashe Chinopfukutwa and Blessing Nyamaropa of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights and Chawaona Kanoti also argued that they should be immediately released from custody as they had been detained for more than 48 hours without being brought to
court in breach of Section 50 of the Constitution.

Magistrate Mateko, who ordered the detention of the war veterans in remand prison, will hand down her ruling on Friday 29 October 2021 at 11:15 AM.
