Mwonzora Grabs Gweru Mayoral Post

By- Former Gweru mayor and councillor for ward 1, Hamutendi Kombayi has bounced back as the city’s mayor.

Kombayi belongs to the Douglas Mwonzor’s MDC-T. He replaces Josiah Makombe, who was recently recalled as councillor by Mwonzora.

Kombayi polled 11 votes against Martin Chivoko’s 4 votes in an election which was held at the Town House Tuesday morning.

Kombayi was fired as the mayor of Gweru in 2017 by the then Local Government Minister Saviour Kasukuwere.

Mother In-law, Daughter Circumcise Daughter’s Hubby With A Bottle

By- Zvishavane resident magistrate Mr Archie Wochiunga has remanded Laida Mwedzi and her daughter Gladys Shava in custody after the two appeared before him on charges of attempted murder.

The charges arose after the two attacked the daughter’s lover and “circumcised” him as punishment for accidentally spilling an illicit brew they were drinking.

Mwedzi (45) and Shava (26) from Vengai Village in the Mazvihwa area were not asked to plead, and were remanded in custody to January 17.

Mr Wochiunga advised them to apply for bail at the High Court.

The mother and daughter are accused of attempting to kill Onias Hove (46), whom they allegedly knocked unconscious after striking him on the head with an empty beer bottle and subsequently cutting off his foreskin with a broken bottle on Christmas Day.

It was the State’s case that at around 6PM on Christmas Day, Mwedzi and Hove got into an argument at her homestead after he accidentally spilled an illicit brew known as Double Punch, which they were drinking.

An incensed Mwedzi allegedly grabbed an empty beer bottle and struck Hove once on the head and he collapsed.

Her daughter Shava allegedly jumped on Hove and choked him until he lost consciousness.

They allegedly used a broken beer bottle to cut off Hove’s foreskin while he was still unconscious.

When he regained consciousness, Mwedzi and Shava threatened Hove with more unspecified harm if he sought medical attention or reported the matter to police, promising to use traditional medicine to heal his wound.

Hove, however, reported the matter to the police when he left their homestead resulting in the arrest of the mother and daughter pair.

Mr Isheanesu Mashayanye appeared for the State.

Full Text: Statement On MDC Alliance National Standing Committee Meeting

COMMUNIQUE ON 11/01/2022 NATIONAL STANDING COMMITTEE MEETING

On the 11th of January 2022, the National Standing Committee of the MDC Alliance met in accordance with the party’s constitution. The National Standing Committee received the reports of the President and the Secretary-General. The following matters were deliberated upon:

A. Deepening National Crisis

  1. Political Environment & Economic Crisis: Contrary to the regime’s propaganda that paints a false picture of economic progress, the party expresses concern over Zimbabwe’s multi-faceted governance, economic and social crisis which has manifested in mass starvation, over-taxation, corruption, hyperinflation, 49% extreme poverty, joblessness, wage erosion, poor earnings by civil servants and poor remuneration crisis in the education sector. We condemn the continued implementation of anti-poor policies which will be a matter of the past under an MDC Alliance Government.
  2. Beitbridge Forced Migration Crisis: The forced migration crisis at Beitbridge Border Post is a manifestation of a longstanding crisis of governance in Zimbabwe. While people move from country to country throughout the world, the Zimbabwe-South Africa migration is driven largely by chronic unemployment and extreme poverty in Zimbabwe which are directly connected to the illegitimacy of Mr Mnangagwa’s regime and the nation’s deep-seated governance crisis. We call for an urgent resolution to this crisis.

B. Agenda 2022

  1. Agenda 2022 Address: Consistent with our tradition, the people’s President will unveil the Agenda 2022 statement on a date to be advised to give the nation direction and the expectation of things to be accomplished this year. The movement will do the needful to win Zimbabwe for change. The people’s leadership commits to raising the morale of the suffering masses, leading a monumental citizen organization effort and ensuring citizens are at the centre of change as we build the new.
  2. Election Preparedness: The people’s leadership is building a platform for a citizen-based campaign to mobilize for change, do the heavy lifting and carry out intensive preparations as we work to secure 6 million votes in the 2023 election and a two-thirds majority in Parliament. The people’s movement is still standing and we have successfully resisted the regime’s attempt to return Zimbabwe to one-party rule. Zimbabwe remains plagued by an illegitimacy crisis which has tainted all arms of government. Our core business is to secure transformation and change in Zimbabwe by winning elections and forming the next government. We thank the citizens for standing firm in rejecting dictatorship, corruption and injustice. We will continue to be a solidarity movement that practices ethical leadership and puts the people first in all policy-making, political activities and the implementation of our activities.
  3. Voter Registration Campaign, Youth Mobilization Drive & Electoral Reform Agenda: We repeat our call for all citizens to REGISTER TO VOTE. The people’s leadership calls for ZEC to stop the unconstitutional and illegal voter suppression and creation of bottlenecks in the voter registration process. We also call for the delivery of a transparent, verifiable voters’ roll. We call for the implementation of the electoral reforms set out in our Principles for Reliable Inclusive and Credible Elections in Zimbabwe (PRICE) document, including the alignment of the Electoral Act to the Constitution, the demilitarization of the ZEC secretariat, media reform and a transparent census and delimitation process. We call for a “BVR-type” voter registration blitz. We further demand that the national identity document crisis be addressed urgently. The movement has embarked on a dedicated youth mobilization drive to ensure that the young are registered and mobilized to vote and defend the vote in 2023.
  4. Remembering Dewa Mavhinga: The MDC Alliance continues to celebrate the life of Dewa Mavhinga who passed away at the end of last year. Dewa was a champion of human rights and the struggle for a better Zimbabwe. His legacy will be remembered by the many Zimbabweans for whose cause he bravely fought.
  5. The Release of Makomborero Haruzivishe: The MDC Alliance welcomes the release of the people’s hero, Makomborero Haruzivishe whose brave fight against tyranny and repression in Zimbabwe continues to inspire both the young and old. We maintain that he is innocent. It is not a crime to demand a better society.

Mnangagwa Ally Loses US$5K To Armed Robbers

By- Armed robbers raided a Mashwede Holdings food court in Southlea Park, Harare, early Monday morning and got away with a safe containing over US$5 000 after attacking some security guards manning the premises.

No arrests have been made and police detectives from the CID Homicide are still looking for the suspects.

Although the details were still sketchy, sources close to the investigations said the gang raided the premises at around 1 am before attacking the security guards manning the premises.

They then broke into one of the offices and took away the safe that contained the money before disappearing.

A manhunt has since been launched for the robbers.

Mashwede Holdings was in 2020 raided by robbers who got away with over US$100 000, R42 000, $14 000 worth of fuel coupons, firearms and 20 live rounds of ammunition.

In that incident, Conwell Junior Kasambarare (26), believed to be part of the famous Musa Taj Abdul gang, Spicer Takawira and Musafare Mupamhanga are alleged to be part of the gang that robbed the premises. He was arrested.

Kasambarare who is facing multiple robbery and housebreaking charges failed to turn up in court for his latest remand hearing last Tuesday, prompting the issuance of a warrant of arrest and police have launched a manhunt for him, yet again.

Mapeza Speaks On Warriors Loss To Senegal

Norman Mapeza believes the Warriors will need to work on their conversion rate after failing to utilise the chances that fell on way in the 1-0 defeat to Senegal in the Afcon 2021 Group B opener on Monday.

Zimbabwe created several opportunities and made promising attacks but wasted all of them.

The team also received set-pieces in dangerous positions, and again, nothing came out of it.

The Warriors then conceded a penalty in the 97th minute after Kevin Madzongwe handled inside the box. Sadio Mane stepped up and scored the spot-kick.

Speaking after the match, Mapeza said: “We are just going to work on our conversion rate. I think we did a lot in the final third where we had some good opportunities. We also had some opportunities on set pieces.”

The gaffer, however, was happy with the overall performance and heaped praise on his charges.

He added: “I am proud of my boys. We worked so hard. Our minds are now on the game against Malawi where I think we need to give our all so that we can get maximum points because I think if we can manage to get 4 points we will get to the round of 16.

“That is where much of our focus will be against Malawi (on 14 January).”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

ANC Calls for “Lifting Of Sanctions” Against Cuba, etc but not Zimbabwe – New Awakening

… condemn rigged elections too

By Patrick Guramatunhu | “The #January8statement at @MYANC’s 110th anniversary by @CyrilRamaphosa called for the unconditional lifting of sanctions against Cuba, solidarity with Palestine and Western Sahara, but was silent on #ZimSanctions: @MYANC/@ZANUPF_Official relations are now in smoke,” revealed Professor Jonathan Moyo, the self-exiled former Zanu PF Cabinet Minister, on twitter.

President Cyril Ramaphosa

If SA is finally waking up to the reality that Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown is not cause by sanctions, as Zanu PF would have everyone believe, but decades of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and rank lawlessness that has the country labelled a pariah state. One hopes that SA is also waking up to the reality that Zanu PF has been rigging elections to stay in power.

President Cyril Ramaphosa said Zimbabwe’s 2018 elections “went well”. He was lying, of course. How can an election process that failed to produce something as basic as a verified voters’ roll be anything but a farce!

If SA was to refuse to endorse Zimbabwe’s 2023 elections, which Zanu PF is rigging already by denying 3 million Zimbabweans in the diaspora the vote “until the West imposed sanctions are lifted”, for example. It is a feeble excuse; why should Zimbabweans in the diaspora be denied their fundamental right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country over a matter in which they had no say. Worse still, why deny the vote to Zimbabweans in SA and other nation that have not imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe.
Considering Mnangagwa “won the 2018 elections with 2.4 million vote or 50.8% of the cast votes.

The 3 million diaspora vote is very significant: 3 out of a possible 8 million registered voters or 37% of the electorate. How can the elections be anything else but a farce if one of the contestants is allowed to cherry pick and deny 37% of the electorate the vote!
If SA and one or two other SADC countries were to refuse to endorse Zimbabwe’s 2023 elections as a free and fair process and thus endorse Zanu PF’s legitimacy this will put Zimbabwe back in the situation it was in after the 2008 rigged elections. Zanu PF was forced then to sign the 2008 Global Political Agreement, agreeing to the implementation of a raft of democratic reforms designed to restore the individual freedoms and rights of all Zimbabweans including the right to free, fair and credible elections.
Alas, the 2008 to 2013 GNU comprising of Zanu PF and the two MDC factions led by Morgan Tsvangirai and Arthur Mutambara failed to implement even one reform in five years. The world can be rest assured no stone will be left unturned to make sure competent men and women are given the task of implementing the reforms this time! – SOURCE: zimbabwelight.blogspot.com

MDC Alliance Blasts “Incompetent” ZEC

Tinashe Sambiri| MDC Alliance has challenged the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission( ZEC) to implement key reforms before polls.

ZEC’s credibility is under the spotlight following the snail- slow pace at which the commission is conducting voter registration programmes.

MDC Alliance Namibia has challenged ZEC to implement electoral processes in an objective manner.

See MDC Alliance Namibia statement:

Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) must revisit it’s constitutional functions:Mdc Alliance Namibia fumes!

09 January 2022

Mdc Alliance Namibia comprehends that the constitutional functions of the purported independent body ZEC are as follows: 1)Preparing for conducting and supervising all Elections in Zimbabwe and referendums.2)Ensuring that elections are free, fair, transparent, credible and perfect in accordance with the law. This is however, in antithesis, that has not transpired as Mdc Alliance and other stakeholders claim that the institution is biased in favour of Zanupf serial elections fraudsters. Our message is very clear, ZEC should religiously follow the supreme law of the country by ensuring that elections are free, fair and credible.

Multiple irregularities from ZEC in terms of directing and controlling voter registration become a clear testimony that the organisation does not respect the constitution of the country. It has dismally failed to direct and control voter registration since the formation of Mdc Alliance. The country has experienced voter apathy because ZEC does not conduct voter education to lure virgin voters and the obvious reason is their symphathy the Harare regime. Mdc Alliance Namibia demands that releasing voters rolls and registers should be done within the confines of the supreme law. We absolutely condemn the excess rigging through the capture of the body.

Moreover, Mdc Alliance Namibia alleges ZEC of providing inaccurate, inadequate and biased information to the electorate favouring the incumbent party. It must be clear to the citizenry that the operations of the body should be in compliance with the ZEC Act which has been abandoned taking instructions straight from the Shake Shake Building! We demand an independent body that represents and protects the will of the people. In short ZEC must be disbanded for abusing the constitution.

Against its mandate to keep the public informed about preparations of elections, ZEC has chosen to ignore the masses. There is no voter registration campaign launched by ZEC, the registration centres remain hidden and inaccessible from the general populace which is a deliberate ploy to promote voter apathy. Only 63 registration centres out of the expected 2000 is pathetic for an election body that claims to be independent from the Harare regime. Results of votes are always a challenge and all matters concerning the work of the commission are questionable. In 2008, the poll results took a month and a half before they are published which is quite satanic in a democracy.

On numerous occasions the ZEC has been dubbed captured by the clueless Zanupf and their independence questioned by the alternatives as well as international independent media. ZEC never condemned Zanupf political violence and intimidation of voters prior and post elections. Mdc Alliance Namibia believes that the June 2008 elections
could not be conducted fairly due to high levels of torture and forced disappearances. We believe that the violence was state- sponsored, and in most cases they are sponsored by the state militia. We are seriously condemning this tomfoolery.

Furthermore, Mdc Alliance Namibia would like to warn members of the police, Zimbabwe National Army, and prison officers to resist being compelled to vote for Zanupf thugocrats. We absolutely blame ZEC for completely failing to condemn public confessions among Zanupf officials that Mr Mnangagwa will continue to rule regardless of electoral results, which has energised counterfeit war veterans and poor Zanupf youths to provoke politically motivated violence.

Mdc Alliance Namibia also believe that the commission has failed to conduct it’s duties of regulation efficiently since it didn’t act on the biased, such as the censored state-run Herald newspaper, which they are required to exercise in their mandate. The captured media is wholely one-sided and subjective in favour of Zanupf and the current president. We totally blame ZEC for publishing incorrect figures of registered voters, inciting racial, religious and political hatred among citizens.

In a nutshell, Mdc Alliance Namibia urges all social democrats across the globe to put pressure on ZEC as a way of forcing the commission to bring comprehensive political and electoral reforms.

We should push for more registration centres and these must be accessible as well. It is unexpected that citizens struggle to register to vote in an independent country.

Facts About Cervical Cancer

Screening for cervical cancer

All adult women should undergo periodic cervical cancer screening. Screening aims to detect precancerous lesions, that is, abnormalities in the cells of the cervix, which, if left untreated, can develop into cervical cancer. When found, precancerous lesions must be treated.

Screening and treatment of precancerous lesions, also referred to as “secondary prevention” is the second pillar of the recommended WHO’s comprehensive approach to cervical cancer. There are a number of recommended screening and treatment options.

The Global strategy to accelerate the elimination of cervical cancer as a public health problem recommends that 70% of women are screened with high-performance tests by ages 35 and 45 years.

HPV vaccination (primary prevention) and cervical cancer screening, with treatment of precancerous lesions must be scaled up together in low- and middle-income countries.

Screening might also result in cervical cancer diagnosis. Detection of cancer and treatment must be done together (tertiary prevention), as cervical cancer can be treated effectively, particularly if detected early.

Black Stars Lose Opening Match

Sofiane Boufal’s 82nd-minute strike handed Morocco a narrow win over Group C rivals Ghana in their Africa Cup of Nations opener.

The former Southampton winger pounced on to a loose ball before hammering his effort into the far corner.

It was a rare moment of quality in an otherwise uneventful game in Yaounde as four-time winners Ghana frustrated their opponents.

Morocco were untroubled in the closing stages, cantering to their win.

The North African side came into the game having won all six of their World Cup qualifiers last year, but the 1976 winners were made to work for their three points.

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Romain Saiss had gone close for the Atlas Lions, heading narrowly off target in a tight first half.

For all of Morocco’s possession Vahid Halilhodzic’s side were nearly behind in the 73rd minute as Joseph Paintsil’s curler was superbly stopped by keeper Yassine Bounou.

Black Stars skipper Andre Ayew also went close with a looping volley only for Angers’ Boufal to net the winner at the other end minutes later.

And, after taking the lead, Morocco nearly doubled their advantage in the closing stages with Samy Mmaee heading a set-piece just wide.

Zvishavane Woman, Daughter Circumcise Man With Beer Bottle

2 Reasons Why Owen Ncube Was Fired.

ANALYSIS : The relieved State Security Minister, Owen Ncube last Saturday drove 2 kombis full a group of machete wielding men to a Zanu PF winery in Shurugwi to violently threaten everyone against him following the just ended party primary polls.

48hrs later, Mudha was addressing a meeting of Directors on Monday morning when George Charamba’s signed letter was delivered firing him.

https://youtu.be/-iQJ9YxZibc

Another reason why he was removed is that he was also implicated in the sudden death of the ZIDA Director Douglas Munetsi.

Mudha and Local Govt minister, July Moyo are on record approaching Munatsi 2 days before his sudden death. An impeccable source tells ZimEye:

Munatsi told me 2 days before his death that he was approached by Ncube and July Moyo saying the gold deal he was about to conclude , he must pause it and buy gold from Dubai belonging to Mudha and Tagwirei.

Mnangagwa on Saturday was told this man who killed the man you hired, Munatsi, has become a problem, you need to remove him. So Mnangagwa had to fire him because of that.

Ncube was the 2nd most protected after the Vice President.

A commentator speaking to ZimEye said Ncube possessed neither wisdom nor education.

Mwonzora Fails To Find By-Elections Candidates

By- MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora is said to have failed to find candidates to represent his party in the March 26 council by-elections in various parts of Matabeleland and Midlands.

According to documents seen by Harare Open Council, the party has multiple areas which have absolutely no candidate to represent them.

These include Kusile Rural District Council (RDC) in both Wards 15 and 19, Beitbridge Ward 6, Umzingwane RDC Ward 20, Gwanda Ward 7 and Insiza Ward 11.

The party has also failed to get candidates for Mbizo Ward 12, Zibagwe Ward 8, Gokwe North Ward 23 and Mberengwa West for Ward 25 and 34.

Takawira Ward 3 and Guruve Ward 7 in Mash Central also have no candidates for the party.

Other provinces in which the party has failed to get candidates include Zvimba, Chegutu and Mhondoro Mubaira in Mash West.

Mwonzora has also not fared well in Manicaland failing to get candidates for Makoni Ward 4, Mutare Ward 9 and Ward 17.

The party has however received numerous applications from candidates intending to contest in parts of Harare and Marondera.

Mwonzora has previously been accused of seeking to have the elections scrapped in a clandestine meeting with President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

According to reports, the former MDC Secretary-General is in favour of a Government of National Unity (GNU).

Armed Robbers Attack Mnangagwa Ally’s Food Court, Get Away With US$5K

ZEC Labours To Defend Rigging Attempts

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has struggled to explain why they postponed the Mobile Voter Registration process.

Below is ZEC’s statement issued by their Acting Chief Elections Officer J. P. Chigidji:
Postponement of Mobile Voter Registration After consultations with other critical players in voter registration, the mobile voter registration exercise pencilled for 06 December 2021 has been postponed to February 2022. The need to uphold inclusivity, which is one of the Commission’s core values, has necessitated this postponement.
This deferment is meant to allow all eligible stakeholders to acquire national identity cards, which are requisite for voter registration.

The period initially slated for the voter registration exercise would have excluded some stakeholders without national identity cards.
The postponement will also give Civil Registry enough time to prepare for issuance of identity documents to a large population within a specified period.

Zimbabwe Played Brilliant Football – Cisse

Senegal coach Aliou Cisse has admitted that his side struggled to break the Warriors despite winning the Afcon 2021 Group B opener played on Monday.

The Terenga Lions snatched the victory right at the death after being frustrated by Zimbabwe for almost the entire game.

Sadio Mane scored a 97th-minute penalty which came as a result of a handball by Kevin Madzongwe.

Speaking after the game, Cisse commended the Warriors’ performance, saying: “It was a tough and contested game.

“I would like to congratulate the Zimbabwean team who did not give up, who was eye-catching.

“But I think we had opportunities to kill the game. We did not do it. We lacked realism and efficiency.

“The second period was much more balanced. We never gave up, and it was difficult to have these three points.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

About Cervical Cancer Screening

MDC Alliance Piles Pressure On ZEC To Implement Reforms

EU, UK, Canada Fund For 800,000 Zimbabweans Hit By Drought

STATEMENT: HARARE, Zimbabwe, January 11, 2022 -/African Media Agency (AMA)/- A global network of humanitarian agencies has today announced the purchase of an innovative insurance policy in partnership with African Risk Capacity (ARC) and the Government of Zimbabwe.

The policy is to protect more than 800,000 people in Zimbabwe from drought risk during the 2021/2022 agricultural season.  The $2.5 million USD policy purchased by Start Network and provided by African Risk Capacity, is built on parametric insurance. This means it pays out before a crisis, according to pre-agreed scientific triggers, based for example on rainfall data. Unlike the standard humanitarian model, in which aid agencies receive funding only after a crisis has hit, the approach enables governments and their partners to plan for and respond before the worst effects of a drought are felt, thereby saving more lives and livelihoods.

Start Network members involved in this initiative in Zimbabwe and the potential implementing partners (in the event a pay-out is made) are; Action Aid Zimbabwe, Action Contre La Faim/Action Against Hunger, CAFOD, Catholic Relief Services, GOAL, Plan International, Tearfund, Trocaire and World Vision Zimbabwe (WVZ). Local non-governmental organisations are participating in the planning and will also lead on the response to continue enhancing locally led humanitarian action. These include Zimbabwe Project Trust (ZIMPRO), Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe (EFZ), Family AIDS Counselling Trust (FACT) Zimbabwe, Nutrition Action Zimbabwe (NAZ), Simukai Children Protection and Caritas Bulawayo/Gokwe/Hwange/Masvingo/Mutare.

All planning will happen alongside the Government of Zimbabwe and UN-WFP, who also signed a policy with African Risk Capacity. If the policies pay out, the Government of Zimbabwe, Start Network members, and other development partners and non-governmental organisations will deliver complementary programmes of support to ensure the widest number of the most at-risk are supported. The Honourable Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Professor Mthuli Ncube, welcomed the support from Start Network. He highlighted how the Government of Zimbabwe continues to promote a shift from reactive response to a proactive approach to managing disaster risks such as droughtHon M. Ncube said, “Parametric insurance delivers timely financial relief before natural disasters strike. After receiving complementary support from UN-WFP as a replica partner in Pools VI and VII, the partnership with Start Network will make Zimbabwe the first ARC Member Country to have two Replica partners for the current Pool VIII. This demonstrates the trust our partners have in Zimbabwe’s disaster risk management approach with the ARC Group.” Speaking on behalf of the African Risk Capacity Group, Ibrahima Cheikh Diong, Director-General/UN-ASG praised the strong alignment among the partners that made the initiative possible. He said, “The human impacts of natural disasters can only be meaningfully mitigated through smart partnerships harnessing the resources of multiple actors for holistic solutions.

We salute the strong leadership of the Government of Zimbabwe in the continued show of confidence in the ARC mechanism. Parametric insurance, such as provided by ARC Limited, remains one of the best risk transfer tools because it ensures a quick mobilisation of relief efforts upon the trigger of a disaster event. We are very optimistic that the rest of the continent will embrace the culture of preparedness and early action as we march in solidarity towards a climate resilient Africa.” Start Network’s Disaster Risk Finance Coordinator for Zimbabwe/Start Fund Regional Advisor-East and Southern Africa, Nelly Maonde, commenting on the initiative said, “It is time more support goes towards proactive and not only reactive models of humanitarian action. We have seen great success following two years of running a similar programme in Senegal and we anticipate the same success for Zimbabwe.

For too long we have seen the consequences of waiting for the risk to turn into a crisis first before we act – this only leads to suffering. By proactively managing disaster risks, more lives can be saved, more livelihood assets can be protected, vulnerable groups can be spared from resorting to negative coping strategies undermining their future potential and resilience.” World Vision Zimbabwe (WVZ) National Director, Assan Golowa said, “We are happy to host the network coordination in Zimbabwe. As WVZ, we have responded through Start Network many times including the typhoid response under WASH in Bulawayo, urban cash response in Norton and notably during Cyclone Idai, one of our most unprecedented disasters in Zimbabwe. Many other Start Network members in Zimbabwe have been recipients of Start Network funds for various other emergency responses and anticipatory actions, contributing to saving lives and minimising the suffering of Zimbabweans. We look forward to the continued collaboration among the network members and other disaster risk finance initiatives in Zimbabwe”.

A similar policy was purchased in Senegal for the 2019/2020 growing season and a $10.6 million USD pay-out meant that more than 300,000 people were supported. The new policy signing in Zimbabwe is part of Start Network’s aim to revolutionise the aid sector by catalysing new ways of preparing for crises and thereby helping to create more resilient communities.  This initiative is funded by Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) Development Bank on behalf of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation (BMZ) and the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). Start Network is comprised of approximately 55 members globally with 20 operating in Zimbabwe.

Zim Court Hears Prisoners Demand To Vote

HIGH Court Judge Justice Munamato Mutevedzi will on Tuesday 25 January 2022 preside over the hearing and determination of an application filed by some prisoners seeking an order compelling Zimbabwean authorities to allow them to vote during elections.

In the application which was filed in June 2017, but is being heard now after the presiding Judge Justice Clement Phiri passed on in January 2021 after reserving judgment in July 2018, the prisoners want the High Court to issue an order compelling Justice, Legal and
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Hon. Ziyambi Ziyambi, Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba and ZEC as the elections management body, to register them on the national voters roll and facilitate their voting on election day.

The prisoners, Yvonne Musarurwa, Tungamirai Madzokere and Last Maengahama, who have since been released from Chikurubi Female Prison and Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, and are represented by Advocate Tererai Mafukidze, instructed by Jeremiah Bamu of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, argued that since the period that they had been in
prison detention from 2011, ZEC had neither carried out any voter education, including voter registration nor enabled prisoners to vote during the several general and by-elections which were held in Zimbabwe.

Musarurwa, Madzokere and Maengahama argued that they were asserting their constitutional rights particularly the right to vote in elections and referendums as enshrined in Section 67 (3) (a) of the Constitution.

They argued that they are entitled to exercise their political rights regardless of their status as detainees.

Days Of Tyranny Are Numbered, Biti Warns Mnangagwa

Tinashe Sambiri|MDC Alliance vice president Hon Tendai Biti castigated the Zanu PF regime for bombing the Gukurahundi memorial site.

Hon Biti also accused the regime of capturing the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.

“On #MakoMonday we welcome back
@MakomboreroH
. Incarcerated for 12 months for simply standing up for truth & justice . This surely is a pathetic fascist tin pot regime. Fortunately the days of tyranny are numbered .

Constitutional obligations can not be avoided and only to be met by a pathetic meaningless apology . Truth is
@ZECzim
is a completely captured institution that is incapable of delivering a free fair credible & legitimate election,” wrote Hon Biti on Twitter.

He added:
“The continued destruction of Gukurahundi memorial plaques & cites is sick & repulsive. It epitomizes everything wrong about Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa and his short troubled reign . It’s a nutshell of everything wrong about present day Zimbabwe post the 2017 coup . #Shame.”

Mzembi Says ED Appointed A Clown In Mudha

By A Correspondent| Former Tourism minister Walter Mzembi has slammed President Emmerson Mnangagwa for appointing the now dismissed State Security minister Owen Ncube saying he never understood how he chose him for a ministerial appointment.

Mzembi said Mudha is a clown with the modicum of intellect and statecraft to assume such a position.

Letter To Zambian Mayor Ms Chilando Chitangala- When A Neighbor’s House Is Burning You Don’t Rush And Pour Petrol.

Dear Ms Chilando Chitangala

Greetings to you in Jesus name!

I am responding to your declaration of war on Zimbabwean immigrants.

You are a person who hold such a powerful and influential position in the Zambian society.

I urge you to help Zimbabwean immigrants legal or illegal. These are men and women facing different problems. I encourage you to help them and even give them permits.

Zimbabweans and Zambians we have been good friends for long time. I urge you to maintain this spirit.

When a neighbor’s house is burning you don’t rush and pour petrol.

Zimbabweans are facing serious problems in their country I urge you to be compassion and assist needy people, men, women and children. Those who are selling in streets, these are poor and innocent people trying to earn living in a decent way.

Our Western brothers even Christians have turned against us.

Our love for God and compassion require us to do that. To love strangers not to terrorise them or put them in danger or incite hate against them.

We don’t want Zambia to be like South Africa which burn starving immigrants in streets.

Our Lord Jesus Christ was an immigrant in Egypt. The Bible openly speak against abuse of immigrants.

My Mayor I urge you to be sympathetic to problems of immigrants please let us not join sadists and evil doers who love to inflict pain instead of helping those in crisis.

For a long time I have been impressed by attitude and positiveness of Zambians. It will be embarrassing and pervasive if Zambia becomes a society that abuse immigrants. Especially Zimbabwean neighbors.

I have a dream, the political and economic crisis in Zimbabwe shall soon come to an end. Zimbabweans shall return home.

Thank you for your kindness during difficult times like this..

Yours for poor Zimbabwean immigrants in Zambia.

Its job is often difficult, dangerous and demanding; so in order to do it, the Army needs to have high standards of behaviour all the time. These are Values and Standards of our soldiers.

The Values should guide and develop the army into the sort of people they should be: the Standards explain how the army should behave.

The Army profession is built on a foundation of discipline and standards. Discipline and standards are intrinsic within the Army culture of trust. Discipline guide the manner of performance. Soldiers are expected to conduct themselves according to the discipline of the military art and science. With discipline, they chose the hard right over the easy wrong in the face of temptation, obstacles, and adversity.”

It’s not an exaggeration when its stated that the Army have been forced to do more with less. With the current operational tempo, they have ongoing operations in many parts of the world where they are called to serve as peace keepers. Currently our soldiers are in Mozambique fighting the islamic rebels together with other soldiers from the region.A whole generation of Soldiers grew up in the Army, that have not known anything else but the ARFORGEN cycle. They train for deployment, redeploy, retrain and deploy again, wash, rinse and repeat. This frenetic operational tempo caused the Army over time to pay less attention on discipline issues in order to accomplish the mission. Zimbabwe has witnessed Soldiers who are failing to meet basic Army standards such as basic discipline. These are the soldiers who have applied their training on the civilians and became robbers in army uniform. Those Soldiers who have not seen combat and allowed to stay in the ranks resulted in perception of double standards and indiscipline. The idle soldiers are over-stretched middle ranked officers, high stress levels and the fragile soldier- public relationship are increasingly taking a toll on discipline, the cornerstone upon which the tradition name, fame, and valour of the armed forces is built.

Today, the name soldier is synonymous with armed robbery. The most discussed topic in Zimbabwe now is about the armed forces and the steady decline of standards of discipline. “The good old days” are remembered with pride and the present ‘state of affairs’ are often deplored.
The discussion of conformity and rebellion of Zimbabwean Soldiers within the frame of military discipline and punishment is done under the armpits. Issues involving the military were discussed away from the public domain. But this thick curtain has been lifted by the indiscipline and robberies being committed. It is the public which nears the brunt of this cruel barbaric behaviour by our soldiers.
One of the factors that enabled the soldiers of the immediate Post independence era to endure terrible conditions and less pay was discipline. Military discipline makes the difference between a mob and an army. It is a form of behaviour that is the consequence of training and indoctrination, designed to ensure compliance to orders among individuals and groups, to create and maintain cohesion in military units. The fact that we now have robberies gang dights street fights shooting of civilians public drinking in uniform and armed is evidence that discipline is the glue that holds groups together and makes them act as one in response to orders.

Our soldiers need brutal training to mould them as an army. Our soldiers uses to be drawn upon a pool of recruits, some of which were already accustomed to industrial discipline in factories and other workplaces. QAll working-class soldiers would have been used to being at the bottom of society, with all that entailed. Even so, all armies subjected new recruits to basic training which ranged from the unpleasant to the brutal, the aim being to break down the individuality of the new soldiers and to mould them into a group that would carry out orders unquestioningly.

Discipline was operated with a carrot-and-stick approach. Conforming brought benefits: regular food, leave and other privileges. Rebelling incurred punishments, which differed from battalion to battalion. Most were fairly minor stoppage of privileges, giving offenders unpleasant or dangerous duties. Sometimes the command will use Field Punishment: the most severe version including tying a malefactor to a fixed object for a period of time. Although much resented, this was more humane than the traditional punishment of flogging.
Soldiers used to know their main duties. They list main duties as obedience; cleanliness; sobriety and honesty.

The boys wore the uniform with pride.

Mutiny was the gravest military crime, for it struck at the very heart of military discipline, and desertion was not far behind for similar reasons. Sometimes the purpose was to act as a warning or deterrent to others, with the justice of sentences passed on individuals of less importance than the disciplinary needs of the army. There were certainly cases, perhaps numerous ones, of psychiatric casualties (soldiers who have sustained mental wounds) being shot. Civilian justice and military discipline served two different purposes.

So stealing a fire arm was taken as preparation of mutiny. So it was so serious that only commissioned officers will take fire arms to their houses.

Discipline is an important factor in holding armies together, but it is not the only one. The army should be taught an individual, belief in the cause, loyalty to unit and/or comrades, leadership and other issues, this should be significant.
Being a soldier is not easy. The soldiers are asked to do things not asked of other people. They have to be aggressive and strong in battle, yet behave properly and show self-control all the time. They are not trained to be at war with the civilians.

The nation has to trust the army and the army has to be trustworthy.
Soldiers have to be courageous,
disciplined, respect others and show love the civilians not by robbing them. They must have integrity and loyalty and selfless commitments. Robbery is a selfish adventure and is a sign of gross indiscipline.

If then army is to live by its Values, then the Standards are clear. The Army’s Standards are designed to ensure that all their behaviour is lawful, appropriate and totally professional.

Low standards, both professional and personal, damage the team. This might cause failure on operations, with soldiers getting seriously injured and killed. This is why the Army depends on high standards, and why it has a more demanding approach towards certain types of behaviour and relationships than the rest of society.

Unfortunately the crop we have in the army now are just employment seekers. They did not respond to a call but they joined the army just to get a job. They were motivated by money.

Normally one answers to a call to join the army. It is a calling not an employment.

These days we have civilians in uniform.

Soon after the new dispensation then soldiers were thrust into the roadblocks to mingle with the public. They were not prepared for such a public mingling.

They were corrupted by combie drivers and some corrupt people. The soldiers tested bribe money and they now have to look for the money at gun point.

This now gave way to the robbers in uniform.

The other problem is that the recruitment procedure of the army has been abused. Prospective soldiers had to bribe recruiting officers for them to be considered and enlisted.

These then ho out of their way and commit several crimes.

We have some bullies in uniform. If they have an altercation with a civilian at a bottle store and maybe get defeated in a fist fight, the soldier hoes back yo the camp and come back to the bar or pub with a heavily armed unit to revenge. This is a total abuse of the army. There is no reason whatsoever these soldiers could be robbers.

Our soldiers need retraining and those committing robberies must be heavily punished.

We yearn for a day our soldiers will reclaim the glory of the yesteryears.

Our police officers have to increase their presence on the ground and stop and searches must be introduced.

There must be an increase in the road blocks and search for arms.

We must never be allowed to degenerate into South Africa. Zimbabwe is peaceful and we must all work towards maintaining and keeping the peace.

The motormouth legislator has previously accused Mudha and Local Government minister July Moyo of using Mutami against him.

ZEC Reveals Reason Behind Postponement Of Mobile Voter Registration

By A Correspondent- Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has issued a statement clarifying the reasons behind the postponement of the Mobile Voter Registration process.

The statement is issued after local media reported that the commission apologised for “depriving thousands of prospective first-time voters an opportunity to participate in the upcoming by-elections after it failed to provide adequate and accessible registration centres throughout the country.”

In a statement, ZEC said it communicated these reasons with stakeholders on 24 Nov 2021.

Below is the statement issued by ZEC’s Acting Chief Elections Officer J. P.

Woman Resists DNA Tests, Says Not In The Best Interest Of The Child

HARARE – A woman resisting attempts by her ex-boyfriend to perform a DNA paternity test on their son told a court it was not in the best interests of the child.

Pardon Matavanda has filed an application at the Harare Magistrates Court seeking an order for Lorraine Vimbiso Taruvinga to be compelled to submit their two-year-old son to a DNA testing centre within 14 days.

In a notice of opposition filed on January 6, Taruvinga said Matavanda should have approached the High Court, arguing that the lower court had no jurisdiction. Substantively, she is arguing that submitting her son for a DNA test would violate the child’s constitutional rights.

She said the relief sought by Matavanda “amounts to a violation of the minor child’s constitutional rights, particularly section 52(c) of the constitution which provides the right to bodily and psychological integrity which includes the right not to be subjected to medical or scientific experiments, or the extraction or use of their bodily tissue without informed consent…”

Matavanda said he became suspicious about the child’s paternity after Taruvinga denied him access “several times.”

“I used to believe that the minor child is my biological son and Taruvinga made me believe so. Due to her actions, I now strongly doubt the paternity of the child. I have also tried to engage her to subject the child for paternity tests but she has flatly refused to do so,” Matavanda said in his application.

He told the court that he was in the process of writing his will and would like to include his son as a beneficiary – but he needs confirmation that he is the biological father first.

Taruvinga denies blocking Mutavanda’s access to the child.

“If he is honest about seeing our son and that I have denied him access,” she says in court papers, “the competent relief provided by the law is to seek access to the minor child. The allegation that I have denied him access is not a basis upon which any court should grant the relief sought in this matter.”

Taruvinga also rejected Mutavanda’s claim that the DNA test has become important because he is drafting his will.

“I am advised that a person writing a will can bequeath his assets to any person even if they are not related. It is not a requirement that someone must know the paternity of a heir for that heir to be included in the will,” she argues.

Zambia Declares War On Zim Migrants

LUSAKA Mayor Chilando Chitangala has declared war on more than 3,000 foreigners are trading in Lusaka Central Business District, most of whom she said are Zimbabweans and other foreigners riding on fake Zambian names to cover up their stay in the neighbouring country.

The Patriotic Front-PF politician warned that the Lusaka council in collaboration with the Immigration department will soon remove the foreigners from the city in order to restore sanity

The statements by Chitangula come as nearly 200 000 Zimbabweans are also under the cosh across the Limpopo where their stay on special exemption permits is on the line, with just under 12 months left to regularise their stay or face being deported.

Speaking when she featured on Hot FM’s Breakfast show yesterday, Ms Chitangala said most of the foreigners are even using fake Zambian names to conceal their real identities and some of them sleep at Intercity Terminus thereby causing congestion at the station.

She said that while most of the foreigners who hail from Zimbabwe, a good number are from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Tanzania.

“They sell various goods such as second-hand clothes, biscuits, alcohol, plaiting hair among others.

“We have gathered that most of them do not have valid documents to trade and live in Zambia and have even applied for market stalls at City market,” she said.

Reacting to her comments, some readers on the Lusaka Times social platform expressed regret over her statements which they said could inflame xenophobia which has so far been unheard of in Zambia.

Others alleged that she was raising the issue to divert attention from her Council colleagues, most of whom are from the ruling UPND and are believed to be angling to push her out.

Armed Robbers Raid Mashwede Holdings Again

By A Correspondent- Armed robbers raided a Mashwede Holdings food court in Southlea Park, Harare early Monday morning and got away with a safe containing over US$5 000 after attacking some security guards manning the premises.

Kasambarare who is facing multiple robbery and housebreaking charges failed to turn up in court for his latest remand hearing last Tuesday, prompting the issuance of a warrant of arrest and police have launched a manhunt for him, yet again.-statemedia

FULL TEXT: Electoral Lobby Group Worried Over Timing Of Voters Roll Closure

The Zimbabwe Election Support Network (ZESN) welcomes the promulgation of Statutory Instrument (SI) 2 of 2022, proclaiming a date for the holding of by-elections to fill in vacancies in wards and constituencies.

The holding of by-elections were indefinitely suspended as a means to curb the Covid-19 pandemic through SI 225A of 2020. In accordance with the law, by-elections should take place not more than 90 days after the seats fall vacant. While the move came rather late, allowing the electorate an opportunity to exercise their democratic right and to be represented is commendable.

However, ZESN is concerned about legal provisions relating to the timing of the closing of voters’ rolls ahead of elections. It is understandable that the voters’ roll has to be closed early enough to ensure ample time for inspection so that candidates can be nominated by registered voters.

Nevertheless, this may disenfranchise some potential voters. The threat of disenfranchisement is more in relation to local authority by-elections in which the voters’ roll closes with the occurrence of the vacancy. In comparison, for National Assembly by-elections, according to section 26A of the Electoral Act, the voters’ roll closes two days after the proclamation of the election date by the President.

The legal provision on the voters’ roll means that while people may register to vote now after proclamation, their participation will only be significant for the pending delimitation of electoral boundaries and for the 2023 harmonized elections.

In the case of the upcoming by-elections, the threat is exacerbated by the fact that owing to COVID-19 restrictions and the indefinite suspension of by-elections through SI 225A of 2020, and the attendant uncertainty, many potential voters may not have registered to vote by the time the proclamation was made.

ZESN also noted concerns raised by some stakeholders in relation to 2021 registration statistics recently shared by ZEC. It is ZESN’s view that the statistics 2 951 are an indication that few people were able to register in continuous voter registration process in the last three years and again this can be attributed to a number of factors including COVID-19 restrictions, lack of resources to travel to ZEC provincial and district offices to register.

ZESN implores the government through the Justice Ministry and the Election Management Board to reconsider the provisions on the closure of the voters’ roll for both Local Authority and National Assembly in light of the Statutory Instrument which quarantined democratic rights of citizens for almost 2 years.

In view of the above, the Network calls upon the government and ZEC to consider a special voter registration exercise, such as a blitz, particularly targeting wards and constituencies where by-elections are due to be held so as to enfranchise as many potential voters as possible, who may not have had the opportunity to register earlier. As such, the legal provisions relating to the closing of the voters’ rolls would have to be waived in this ‘special arrangement’.

This would have to be followed by widely conducted voter education to accurately and adequately inform the electorate.

To allay fears of the suspected underreporting of registration statistics, ZEC should consider pursuing an open data policy and share disaggregated statistics and, importantly, allow adequate time; as many channels as possible; and allow for the timeous inspection of the voters’ roll that is also  widely publicized.

“Zimbabwe Is A Failed State And We Must Mobilise” Argued Former ZCTU President – No Wonder We Are Stuck

By Wilbert Mukori- “Zimbabwe is a failed state!” Peter Mutasa, outgoing President of ZCTU to News Day in an interview.

“Our solutions come from clear problem identification. We are now a failed State,” he explained.

“The reasons for State’s failure are known. It is dictatorship. Dictatorship has led to political disputes because of violent and disputed electoral processes and results and has led to the subversion of the Constitution and rendered all the constitutional institutions and instruments dysfunctional.

“The first step in resolving the Zimbabwean crisis is, therefore, to end the military dictatorship and transition to democracy. All other solutions are hinged on transitioning from this mode of governance and require Zimbabweans to address this problem.”

Agreed with you 100%!

“Citizens have no option, but to mobilise for collective action and the Constitution grants citizens such political rights. It is not simple, but through civic and political education and exposing the effects of dictatorship, citizens may agree on the necessity of the struggle,” he continued.

Could not disagree with you more! This is the same nonsense of “if we mobilise and take collective action we will not be defeated” recycled and regurgitated from such sources as the MDC leaders!

Yes, Zimbabwe is a failed state!

Yes, the root cause of Zimbabwe being a failed state is the failure to hold free, fair and credible elections which has left the country stuck with this corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship.

But no, the solution to stopping Zanu PF rigging the elections is not “mobilising people to register to vote, voting in numbers and then defending the vote”, as Nelson Chamisa and his MDC A friends have argued a thousand times. This is one of many similar variations to the opposition’s “winning in rigged elections (WIRE) strategies”.

MDC leaders have tried these WIRE strategies ever since they failed to implement even one meaningful democratic reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU when the nation had its best opportunity ever to implement the democratic reforms designed to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections.

MDC leaders had the chance to implement the reforms and stop the vote rigging; they failed to implement even one reform in five years of the GNU. And ever since, they have argued the reforms are not necessary because they have WIRE strategies. All nonsense because we all know what Zanu PF’s voter rigging juggernaut is capable of.

In the March 2008 elections, SADC leaders had pressured Zanu PF to switch-off its vote rigging juggernaut, for the first time since the country’s independence. Tsvangirai garnered 73% of the votes.

However, when Zanu PF realised that MDC was heading for landslide victory, the party switched the vote rigging juggernaut back on in time to stop ZEC announcing the results. The party then spend the next six weeks “recounting” the 5 million votes and Tsvangirai’s 73% was whittle down to 47%, enough to force a runoff. And during the runoff Zanu PF used wanton violence to punish the voters for rejecting the party in the earlier vote. Mugabe “won” the runoff with a whopping 84%!

Failing to implement even one meaningful reform when they had the chance to do so in one of the most foolish mistakes MDC leaders have ever done. They have only compounded their treasonous betray of failing to implement reforms by insisting in participating in flawed and illegal elections under the pretext of these WIRE strategies.

Zanu PF has blatantly rigged and win the 2013 elections and all these that that have followed. Zanu PF is set to blatantly rig the 2023 elections; all these WIRE strategies are just hot air.

Indeed, by mobilising and participating in these flawed elections, MDC is giving the flawed process credibility and the vote rigging Zanu PF regime legitimacy.

In the 2018 elections Nelson Chamisa claimed that he was the winner polling 2.6 million votes to Mnangagwa’s 2.4 million. Chamisa failed to produce the V11 forms, the vote count summary sheet produced by each Polling Station. To be fair to Chamisa, ZEC too failed to produce all the V11 forms, hence the reason why ZEC had three different tallies of the votes which it could not reconcile.

The whole election process could not be trace and verified because ZEC had failed to produce something as basic as a verified voters’ roll. There will be no verified voters’ roll in 2023 either, ZEC has done nothing to produce one and, with less than a year and half to go, it is too late to do so now.

So Chamisa will be calling on his supporters to “defend” a result he cannot substantiate or verify!

The sheer stupidity of MDC A’s position is mind boggling: MDC A, against all advice, are the ones insisting in participating in flawed elections knowing fully well that Zanu PF will rig the elections and by participating MDC A is giving Zanu PF legitimacy. The MDC A is then hoping to wrestle power from Zanu PF by staging street protests!

After 42 years of rigged elections and the country in a serious economic and political mess one would think, everyone has finally had enough of trying to win rigged elections and are ready for a more rational solution – implement the democratic reforms and stop anyone rigging the elections.

Chitungwiza Sangoma Marries 12 Wives From Selling Goblins

By A Correspondent- Business is certainly booming for a Zimbabwean traditional healer who is living lavishly despite having a huge family.  The sangoma, 68-year-old Sekuru Kafura has married 12 wives and fathered an incredible 100 children, all from selling tikoloshes (goblins) and other money-making charms to his clients.

Unlike most sangomas, Sekuru Kafura does not hide the fact that he sells money-making goblins to anyone who can pay for the services.

Speaking to the state-owned Sunday Mail from his home in Chitungwiza, Sekuru Kafura opened up about his business of selling goblins.

“There is nothing to be ashamed of. I sell goblins to whoever can afford. I have been doing this since 1972, and this is not a secret,” he said.

He did not reveal how much he charges his clients for the goblins.

However, his son Moses Kafura, who doubles as his father’s assistant, had no qualms about revealing how much his father charges for goblins. Moses revealed that one must bring between US$500 and US$2500 if they want to procure a goblin for themselves. The amount paid depends on the “power” of the supernatural creature in question.

“When it comes to goblins, we have three packages. We charge US$2 500 (approximately R39 000), US$1 500 (R23 400 and US$500 (R7800) for the three packages on offer,” he said casually.

Sekuru Kafura is a very traditional person who believes in polygamy. Over the course of his life, he has married 12 wives and fathered a century of children. However, he is now left with nine wives after three of them died in the last few years.

He also maintains strong ties to Malawi, the country of his birth. Two of his wives and six of his children reside in the country.

The traditionalist did not take kindly to questions on how he manages to satisfy his many wives in the bedroom, insisting that it is a private matter that other people should not be concerned about.

“Why should I openly discuss such private issues with the nation? Such issues are private and can only be discussed by me and my wives.”

He also revealed that he does not drink and smoke as he regards such activities as a waste of time. He would rather spend his time on making more children.

“I have no time for drinking and smoking. I would rather spend that precious time on increasing my brood.”

Despite this, the sexagenarian is not your archetypical traditional healer. He does not stay in the village and prefers a lavish and flashy lifestyle for his huge family.

The 68-year-old is always well-groomed and impeccably dressed. He moves around in the latest cars and has a fleet of 35 vehicles. The fleet boasts some of the latest and most powerful vehicles from BMW and Mercedez Benz, just to name a few.

He is also business savvy and runs a thriving farm in Beatrice. At the farm, he raises cattle, pigs and poultry, among other projects. Sekuru Kafura has also invested in real estate, and in Harare alone, he owns more than 20 houses.

The stylish sangoma does not scrimp when it comes to feeding his family. His family consumes a massive 118 loaves of bread every single day. This translates to US$826 (R12 800) per week on bread alone. The family also consumes a full beast every week. They also spend tens of thousands of dollars every month on groceries and toiletries.

Although he has allowed four of his sons to learn the trade of being a traditional healer, he insisted that they will only be able to practise after he is dead.

“They will only become fully-fledged traditional healers after I am gone. My father taught me this craft and I only started healing people long after my father had died. I will do the same with my sons; I will not allow a situation in which I will one day compete for clients with my own children.”

He also added that he does not want any of his daughters to be traditional healers, arguing that the profession is for men only.

“Who among you gentlemen would want to marry a traditional healer? I don’t want my daughters to get divorced for being traditional healers. Traditional healing, in my view, is a man’s domain,” he observed.

ZEC Invites Foreign Observers For By-Elections

By-The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has invited observers ahead of the March by-elections which will see 117 local authorities and 28 National Assembly seats up for grabs.

Most of the seats became vacant following recalls of MDC-Alliance members by rival MDC-T following a Supreme Court verdict that Nelson Chamisa illegally assumed the leadership of the opposition party. Polling in other areas has been necessitated by the death of MPs and councillors.

ZEC has since gazetted the election observer fees which will see local observers and local media accredited with Zimbabwe Media Commission paying US$10 or equivalent using the bank rate.

The commission said observers from the African continent will pay US$20 while observers from foreign Embassies in Zimbabwe will pay US$50.

Journalists from international media houses will also pay US$50 accreditation fees while observers from outside Africa will have to part with US$100. Read the statement:

Hooker In Soup Over Threesome With Minor Teens

By A Correspondent- A self-professed hooker has landed herself in hot water after she was arrested following a threesome with two minors aged 15 and 16.

The two juveniles, who cannot be named due to their ages, are alleged to have hired 23-year-old Nothabo Sibanda on 27 December following a night out. After negotiating on a charge for her services, the three went to Nothabo’s house in the Emthunzini suburb.

The three are alleged to have become intimate until the late hours. One of the boys later realised that it was too late for him to return home. At this point, both boys decided to spend the night at the lady of the night’s home.

While the two minors were sleeping at Nothabo’s house, one juvenile’s parents got worried and filed a police report that he was missing.

B-Metro reports that following some investigations, the police learned that the two were last seen in the company of Nothabo. The officers then tracked down the errant pair at Nothabo’s house. Upon being questioned, the teenagers revealed that they had hired Nothabo for her services.

She was arrested and charged with having sexual intercourse with minors. When Nothabo appeared before Western Commonage Court resident magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja, she was not asked to plead. However, she was released on free bail and remanded out of custody to next week on Tuesday for commencement of trial.

Last year, a self-professed hooker from Harare made headlines after she was arrested for bedding a 13-year-old boy.

26-year-old Precious Teya was initially denied bail when she appeared before Harare provincial magistrate Vongai Guwuriro facing indecent assault charges. She was directed to apply for bail at the High Court and remanded in custody.

She was later freed on $10,000 bail following a successful bail appeal at the High Court after Justice Tawanda Chitapi ruled that based on the evidence presented, the juvenile was a willing and consenting participant.

The case is still ongoing at the courts.

Malaba Blames Funding Problems For His Capture By Mnangagwa

Chief Justice Luke Malaba has bemoaned the lack of funding in the Judiciary Services Commission (JSC) by the Treasury saying this exposed it to judiciary capture.

Malaba added due to poor funding the JSC is losing experienced employees unhappy over poor remuneration.

He was speaking during the State of the Judiciary Address (SOJA) in Harare Monday.

The chief justice begged the government to ensure that judicial officers were well paid to avoid corruption.

“It is, therefore, important that the government should constantly review the salaries of the workers so that they remain relevant to the prevailing economic situation. The JSC witnessed a high staff turnover in the year under review because of low salaries,” he said.

In 2021, according to Malaba, the JSC lost a total of 88 members of staff through resignations. At least 18 were magistrates.

Malaba said human capital is the most important resource in the success of any organisation as such must be prioritised.

“To stem the high turnover of professionally competent and skilled employees, an employer, whether public or private, must ensure that it has in place attractive and competitive conditions of service.

“It is no exaggeration to say that justice suffers when judicial officers are underpaid,” he said.

According to Malaba, the JSC experienced the challenge of inadequate funding in 2021.

He said they were unable to make developments due to lack of funding and had to rely on the support of development partners or was forced to cut down some of its operations.

Malaba said the judiciary in terms of the Constitution must retain its independence from the other organs as it was unhealthy to seek funding from outsiders because of Treasury’s failure to disburse enough funding.

“On account of the comity expected from it due to the principle of separation of powers, the judiciary ought not to be put in a situation in which it has to actively petition for funding from the Executive; nor should it be demanding the release of funds allocated to it thereby risking compromising the said comity,” he said.

“The judiciary is unable to actively fundraise. A Judiciary that knocks on several doors begging for funding or that engages in commercial activities for the generation of income undermines the public’s perception of its ability to adjudicate on disputes impartially.

“It is hoped that the Treasury will consider the implementation of the system of block release of adequate funds to the judiciary from its appropriated budget funds to pre-empt the frequent visits to it by officers from the JSC pleading for money for its operational needs,” he said.

Provincial Elections Leave Zanu PF Fractured As Chaos Reign In All Provinces

Tension is swirling within Zanu-PF circles ahead of today’s potentially explosive politburo meeting amid reports of continued chaos over the just-ended provincial polls, name-dropping of President Emmerson Mnangagwa by some candidates and alleged security sector involvement in the recent party polls.

Impeccable sources within the party yesterday told NewsDay that fireworks were expected at today’s politburo meeting, which is set to discuss the just-ended party elections, and other issues that include a push for the party to hold an elective congress this year.

The provincial polls were so chaotic that national political commissar Mike Bimha’s office was reportedly inundated with complaints of massive irregularities like rigging, name-dropping of Mnangagwa and his deputy Constantino Chiwenga’s names, and intimidation.

Bimha has since indicated that the election results would only be released after being approved by the politburo, the party’s second highest decision-making body after the central committee.

In a letter dated December 30, 2021, addressed to Bimha, aspiring provincial chairperson for Matabeleland North province Believe Gaule Ncube claimed that the provincial polls were marred by intimidation and rigging.

“Following the just-ended provincial elections to elect Zanu-PF provincial leadership, in the case of Matabeleland North province, there has been a series of gross irregularities, omissions of justice and commissions of injustices by certain individuals campaigning for the opponent candidate, namely Richard Moyo, who is also Minister for Provincial Affairs. The uncalled for behaviour is deployed to ensure that by all means necessary, there will be an unjust victory for the candidate in the name of Richard Moyo for scrutiny of the election process and nullity of an unfair outcome,” Ncube wrote.

“…There was gross intimidation of the electorate that supported and preferred me Believe Gaule. Two days before the election in question, the opposing candidate Richard Moyo’s campaign team made claims that the party does not allow anyone to oppose and compete with a minister in an election.

“They went on to claim that Richard Moyo is the President’s choice, and he has been endorsed by the President. To many, voting otherwise could be seen as opposing the word of the President and first secretary of the party HE E.D Mnangagwa. There is a recorded audio in support of this and witnesses (those who were addressed on that particular day) abusing the President’s name for private gain cannot and must not be tolerated.”

He added: “There was deliberate distortion of voter credentials, where some voters who were expected to vote for me had their names and surnames correctly captured in the register, but their national identity numbers had been deliberately wrongly captured, rendering them ineligible to vote.

“It is absurd for one to accept that the whole province had a total of 10 000 votes cast. It is worth noting that money was a game changer as Richard Moyo’s campaign team paid the election facilitators to aid in the rigging process.”

Ncube said the appointment of election facilitators was compromised, with the district co-ordinating committees reportedly appointing those in Moyo’s camp to run the elections without following procedures prescribed by the commissariat.

He alleged that figures were tampered with.

“In Nkayi, on the day of the election, police officers manning the Nkayi South polling stations allegedly told the voters to vote for the minister (Moyo) saying going against the minister was going against the President,” he said.

“In Lupane and Hwange districts, all of the opponent’s campaign efforts were allegedly centred on denouncing other competitors, thus to say anyone who supported me Believe Gaule, was termed an opposition supporter (MDC). This partly contributed to the voter apathy because it was said by someone in the rank of a minister.”

Manicaland provincial chairperson Mike Madiro also raised similar allegations, accusing former national commissar Engelbert Rugeje of presiding over biased polls.

“I am submitting a grave complaint, particularly focused on Rtd General Rugeje in the discharge of his fiduciary role as party provincial returning officer. His conduct exhibited unrestrained personal and political bias against my candidature while showing unbridled preference for the other contestants,” Madiro wrote to the party’s top leadership.

“He used Makoni district as a bastion to rig the elections through creating phantom or ghost voters to offset my lead in an attempt to nullify or thwart my outright victory. He also blindsided prospective voters deemed to be my supporters. I am submitting this appeal against the possible announcement of a tainted result which does not reflect the will of the majority party membership for Manicaland province.”

In Mashonaland Central province, businessman Tafadzwa Musarara controversially lost to Home Affairs minister Kazembe Kazembe amid allegations of vote rigging.

Sources from other provinces told NewsDay that the provincial elections had further divided the party along factional lines.

Mliswa Says Police Boss Matanga Is Next On The Firing Line

By A Correspondent- Norton member of parliament Temba Mliswa said the police Boss, Godwin Matanga was the next to be fired after the Monday dismissal of State Security Minister Owen Mudha Ncube.

Mudha, a close President Emmerson Mnangagwa ally, was fired Monday for unspecified reasons.

His dismissal from the cabinet was announced by Misheck Sibanda, the Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet.

In a statement announcing the ouster of Mudha, Sibanda only said the former state security minister had been relieved of his duties for misconduct “inappropriate for a Minister of Government.”

Responding to Mudha’s ouster Mliswa through his tweeter account, said ZRP Commissioner-General is next to be fired.

Our security system was a laughing stock. How does one who hasn’t been in the struggle, has no experience and is uneducated comprehend and formulate security strategies? DG Matanga, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1………

Mliswa has for a long time been accusing Ncube and Matanga of using state security departments for their personal gains.

R1 Million House Party Host Loses Siblings In Horror Crash

By -A South Africa-based Tsholotsho businessman, who hosted a party that was dubbed the “R1 million house warming party” in December in his rural home, has lost three brothers in a car accident in the neighbouring country.
The accident is said to have happened in Hammanskraal, northern Gauteng Province when the siblings together with a number of passengers were returning to South Africa from Zimbabwe.
Businessman, Mr Ndumiso Sibanda hosted a two-day classic party in Mathetshaneni Village on December 24 and 25 and over 20 musicians participated. The accident victims were traveling in a white Toyota GD6 vehicle.
Mathetshaneni village head Mr Philemon Ndlovu confirmed the deaths of the three brothers. He said the deaths have plunged his area into the mourning.

“We received news that they died in a car accident in South Africa on Saturday.
We gather the accident happened around 3am and from the little information we are getting, it seems the driver of the car might have slept resulting in the car overturning.
We are yet to be briefed fully on all details.
It is a very sad development in my area as the family had hosted a wonderful event in December which brought the community together,”said Mr Ndlovu.

He said the names of the deceased were Lucky Deep Tshuma, Mbekezeli Sibanda, and Sie Sibanda but was not able to give their ages.
When reached for comment from his base in South Africa, a distressed Mr Sibanda said: “Kunjalo mfowethu, kwenzakale mfowethu (Yes, it true. It happened my brother).”
Efforts to get more details from him were fruitless as he said he was still to come to terms with the development.
Councillor for the area, Clr Manager Sobani said he was yet to get details of the accident as he was attending a funeral in Plumtree.
“I will be back in Tsholotsho tomorrow. I am yet to get details of what transpired but it is an unfortunate development in my ward,” he said.
Mr Sibanda was hailed for supporting artistes at a time when the Covid-19 pandemic had grounded them.

Owen Ncube Fired For Sponsoring Bloodshed

By- The former Minister of State for National Security Owen Ncube was fired for promoting violence in the period running to the December 28 Zanu PF provincial elections in the Midlands province, the state media has revealed.

Mudha, during that period, is said to have sponsored internal party terror groups that caused havoc in Midlands.

Several party meetings in the Midlands province were aborted after vicious fights caused by the pro-Ncube faction had erupted.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa Monday, fired Ncube for what he only called “conduct that was deemed inappropriate for a Minister of Government”.

But the state media said Mudha was fired for sponsoring violence.

“Although no specific reason was given for the dismissal, there are reports he may have been removed for his role in recent political disturbances in the Midlands Province during Zanu PF’s provincial polls,” the Herald reports.

Political analyst and resource consultant for Chitepo School of Ideology, Mr Goodwine Mureriwa said the dismissal of Cde Ncube was a wakeup call for everyone in position to work in accordance with the mandate of their position.
“Though I am not privy to the reasons behind his dismissal, what I can say is that this is a wakeup call to everyone in positions of authority to work in accordance with the dictates of their jobs.
“President Mnangagwa has made it very clear that his administration will provide servant leadership, working for the people as well as serving in a manner that develops the country and the economy at large.
“The President is hands on and when he makes such a decision he will be fully aware of what is going on and maybe what the person was doing is at variance with what he was appointed for.

“In my view I think this will go a long way in reminding people, whatever positions they occupy that they should always work for the good of the party and Government, the President has shown that he will not hesitate to crack the whip for corrective measures,” said Mr Mureriwa.
Cde Ncube was first appointed to Government as Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in 2017.
The Gokwe Kana, House of Assembly member was re-assigned to head the Ministry of State for National Security in 2018, a position he held until his dismissal yesterday.

Hakufiwi Musiiwa was attacked at around 5am, allegedly by Norman Mutakayi (36) who wanted to force his uncle to consult a prophet.

He later died after being forced to walk for about 10km.

The victim was bleeding from the nose and had a bruise on the back of the head.

Morocco Claim Crucial Victory Over Ghana

Morocco face debutants Comoros on Friday (16:00 GMT) before Ghana play Gabon (19:00 GMT).- BBC

90K Zimbos Kicked Out Of SA

By -At least 89 000 Zimbabweans have been arrested and deported from South Africa for illegally staying in that country.

Former ZCTu president Peter Mutasa, said most of the victims either entered or stayed in that country without proper documentation.

He said this development could have been avoided if the region had listened to Zimbabwe labour unions, civic society groups and human rights activists’ warnings about Zimbabwe’s economic and political crisis.

Thousands of Zimbabweans flock into neighbouring South Africa and Botswana in search of jobs and better lives.

Mutasa said:
We have been talking about these issues as labour, as human rights activists that SADC and AU have to take a progressive and practical position on Zimbabwe crisis, we have got a crisis. SADC has to resolve this crisis before it degenerates and now it has degenerated. So SADC, South Africa and other Africa countries have to agree that Zimbabwe has got crisis.
This problem has now caused humanitarian crisis it is not enough for South Africans to just push Zimbabweans back where they cannot get livelihoods and to where they can starve, 61 percent in here are food insecure so all those people are looking for food.
Political analyst Wurayayi Zembe says undocumented Zimbabweans flocking into South Africa is confirmation that the Emmerson Mnangagwa government has failed. He said:
That’s a symptom of the failure to govern Zanu PF government in Zimbabwe, it has been failing to provide Zimbabweans with jobs. Jobs are a basic need of Zimbabweans so that they can earn their legitimate lives.
The Zimbabwe government has remained mum over this latest mass exodus of citizens.

MDC Alliance Mourns Veteran Cadre

Chingwizi(Mwenezi east) MDCA* *activist laid to rest

7 January 2022

The MDCA led by President Chamisa has been engulfed by a dark cloud down in the remote areas of Mwenezi east.

We lost a brave courageous cadre Fadzai Dhave popularly known as Mai Chikoboda who dedicated her life and time to the struggle. Mai Chikoboda was laid to rest on 5 January 2022.

Despite being staying in the deep end of Mwenezi where ZANU pf brutalises opposing voice, Amai Chikoboda remained resolute a stance which few women can stand.

Mai Chikoboda was Chingwizi Branch Vice Chair lady and despised those who claim that MDCA is nowhere in resettlement areas as she was a pillar of strength there. She was a true activist who attended most party meetings and events.

May Her Soul Rest In Eternal Peace.

Chingwizi people are well known for being neglected by the ZANU pf government since their displacement. It therefore an eye opener to all Resettlement dwellers that ZANU pf has nothing good to offer hence there is need to embrace the spirit of the late Mai Chikoboda.

My Dreadful Prison Experience- Mako

Tinashe Sambiri|Prominent human rights activist and MDC Alliance Youth Assembly member, Makomborero Haruzivishe, says life in prison is dreadful.

Mako spent 10 months in prison for speaking on behalf of suffering citizens.

Asked to comment on the prison experience, Mako Haruzivishe said:

Prison, you know, it can only be equated to hell…prison especially if you are a prisoner of conscience like me, it’s a kind of hell, a different kind of hell, with all the pains and everything, but however because of my strong will and determination, and the will to succeed, succeed in terms of achieving an inclusive and democratic Zimbabwe, in which all citizens’ issues and concerns are addressed, the…physical pain and mental pain I managed to ignore it, and because we know that it is not an easy road and great sacrifices will be made, others have made bigger sacrifices, others have paid the ultimate price…

You can talk of Itai Dzamara, you can talk of all these victims of the ferrets.

You can talk of all those victims of politically motivated violence sponsored by the state. So this was just prison, and it in no way changed my fuse, if it changed it changed them for the better. Because one thing that we have to remember is that for us to achieve our mission, we will have to remain resolute to demand what belongs to us.

The charges that I got in here for, if you read the Constitution they are Constitutionally guaranteed rights freedom assembly, freedom of expression, and they tried to criminalise that, it is awkward but it only serves to strengthen me more than what they wanted to, to scare me away and one word is with the people we are in charge, and victory is certain.

Asked if he received threats while in prison, Mako said:

” Definitely, from prison to court, State capture is a reality and getting into prison for this prolonged period, enabled me to see that we have a bigger fight than what we actually imagined, especially within our Justice system, we have a bigger fight and we have to pull up our socks and we need to be more concentrated, we need to be even more radical in terms of organising on terms of educating the masses for them to understand the problem that we are in which chiefly emanate from military state capture.

It’s unfortunate that we don’t have much time, it’s a security place and there was riot police all over since yesterday even today, so but I hope we will get more time and I can give you more details about these 10 months 22 days.”

ZEC Admits “Rigging” Elections

ByThe Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Sunday admitted that it had deprived thousands of prospective first-time voters an opportunity to participate in the upcoming by-elections after it failed to provide adequate and accessible registration centres throughout the country.

ZEC has already closed the voters’ roll for the by-elections slated for March 26 this year.

ZEC spokesperson Joyce Kazembe Sunday told NewsDay that the electoral management body had realised that several people failed to register to vote due to the inaccessibility of its 72 district centres.

She said as the country prepared for the 2023 general elections, ZEC would roll out 9 000 biometric voter registration kits to ensure that people travel short distances to registration centres. Kazembe said:

We know that there are some who stay far from the district offices who may not be able to easily access the registration centres, but for now, we are abiding by the law. But we are sorry. We apologise.

However, the registration process is still ongoing for other elections other than the by-elections. We have 9 000 biometric voters’ registration kits that we will roll out throughout the country to ensure complete accessibility of the registration service.

But civic society groups and rights lawyers accused ZEC of deliberately minimising access to the voter registration centres to frustrate potential first-time voters being mobilised by various groups.

Constitutional lawyer Lovemore Madhuku said some provisions of the Electoral Act also deprived a significant number of people of the opportunity to vote; hence the need to amend the legislation. He added:

The Act states that the voters’ roll closes when the local authority vacancy arises, but would the electorate know that very well? In this election, an individual may be able to vote for the National Assembly member, but fail to vote for the councillor. There are some citizens who develop the interest to vote only when there is a proclamation. Every reasonable democracy allows them to vote. There is also a need for training of civic society on the key constitutional dictates of the electoral process so that they provide the necessary essential information to the people.

The electoral management body recently attracted the wrath of the public after it gave two different figures regarding the number of first-time voters it registered last year.

Initially, it said only 2 000 had registered as first-time voters throughout the year, but later revised the figure to 2 951 and both were lower than 9 000 which the Project Vote 263, a local civic group claimed to have assisted to register.

ZEC was also criticised by civic groups after it initially indicated that 22 000 deceased voters would be removed from the voters’ roll, before bumping up the figure to 35 085.

Chitungwiza Sangoma Sells Goblins Like Tomatoes

By-A Chitungwiza-based traditional healer, Sekuru Kafura, says he sells goblins to fortune seekers.

Sekuru Kafura told Sunday Mail that prominent people from all over the country visit him seeking goblins.

There is nothing to be ashamed of. I sell goblins to whoever can afford them. I have been doing this since 1972 and this is not a secret.

… When it comes to goblins, we have three packages. We charge US$2 500, US$1 500 and US$500 for the three packages on offer,” he narrated.

He also said that he had sired 100 children and is married to 12 wives, excluding three that died in the past five years.

The 68-year-old is also a successful businessman and farmer.

The Malawi-born traditional healer loves flashy, expensive cars and his garage holds 35 vehicles, among them the latest BMWs, Ford Rangers, Mercedes-Benz and commuter omnibuses.

He said his very large family consumes a beast every week and spends US$826 every week on bread alone.

Unlike the typical traditional healer, Sekuru Kafura, who resides in Unit J, Chitungwiza, is a well-dressed teetotaller who does not take traditional snuff.

He told The Sunday Mail that he is currently training four of his children to become traditional healers after he is gone. He said:

They will only become fully-fledged traditional healers after I am gone. My father taught me this craft and I only started healing people long after my father had died.

I will do the same with my sons; I will not allow a situation in which I will one day compete for clients with my own children.

Sekuru Kafura warned people who are reportedly using his name to defraud his clients. He said:

I am aware of people who are using my good name to rob people. My clients are being robbed in broad daylight.

What I can only say is that those that are doing this must stop or face the consequences.

Pokelo’s Ex-Lover Endorses Mnangagwa

By- Hip-hop veteran Stunner has joined the bandwagon of local artists who support President Emerson Mnangagwa if a video making rounds on social media is anything to go by.

Stunner is seen in a video with three fans endorsing Mnangagwa’s rule whilst showing off Men BelievED designer clothes.

Men BelievED is a movement by men meant to garner support for the Zanu PF leader ahead of the 2023 elections.

The video was received with mixed feelings amongst the artist’s fans with some blasting him for joining Zanu PF whilst others defended his constitutional right to support whoever he wants.

Other artists who have publicly expressed their support for Mnangagwa are DJ Towers and Passion Java Records which houses artists such as Roki, DJ Oskid and others. The two have been embarking on nationwide campaigns for Mnangagwa and donating food.

Late last year, Zanu-PF appointed musician and dancer Sandra Ndebele as its representative for young women in economic development and empowerment in Bulawayo.

After the appointment, Independent Member of Parliament for Norton, Temba Mliswa scoffed at the recruitment as ‘pitiful’adding that it was “a clear scramble for popularity and youth support.”

Last year, comedienne Mai TT led a women’s delegation that met Mnangagwa at State House under the banner Women for ED [economic development].

Modelling instructor and mental health advocate Sipho Mazibuko also joined the ruling party and is registered under ward four in Bulawayo.

The country which is battling an economic crisis, high unemployment, corruption and lack of investment will hold its harmonised elections in 2023.

Mliswa Predicts Matanga’s Ouster

BEST MOVE EVER!! Sources say this letter was handed to him whilst he was conducting a CIO Director’s meeting this morning. Hamba! I told you we didn’t need this guy, he created too many problems and was a huge liability to not only the Party, but to @edmnangagwa too
One can’t just treat people wrongly with impunity. I don’t usually get such info wrong. People who occupy such positions must be qualified and support the country’s vision; serious people. This isn’t an office to be abused or used to settle personal scores

Our security system was a laughing stock. How does one who hasn’t been in the struggle, has no experience and is uneducated comprehend and formulate security strategies? DG Matanga, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1………
Today I’m popping champagne HAMBA!!!!

Mliswa has for a long time been accusing Ncube and Matanga of using state security departments for their personal gains.

‘Mnangagwa’s Tweet That Made Zimbabwe Lose To Senegal’

By Dorothy Moyo | Below is the tweet by the ZANU PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa which according to many citizens is responsible for bringing bad luck on the national team today.

Zimbabwe was bashed 1-0 by Senegal during the AFCON cup qualifier. Many Zimbabweans say Mnangagwa should not have said anything because whatever he is involved in dies instantly. Mnangagwa had before the match tweeted saying “Warriors! All of Zimbabwe is behind you today!”

He was asked to withdraw his words as they would mess the game outcome, which later became the inevitable.

Cape Verde Edge 10-Man Ethiopia

Striker Julio Tavares headed home the winner as Cape Verde Islands shrugged off their COVID-19 woes to beat 10-man Ethiopia 1-0 on the opening day of the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.

Tavares forced home diving header after a superb cutback pass from Garry Rodrigues on the stroke of half-time at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde as the Cape Verdians joined hosts Cameroon on top of the Group A standings.

Cameroon had come from behind to beat Burkina Faso 2-1 in Sunday’s opening match at the newly-built venue.

Cape Verde were forced to start the match without coach Bubista, in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19, and had just six substitutes on the bench, with a further nine players isolating, and two injured.

But Ethiopia made their task easier when defender Yared Bayeh was sent off after 10 minutes.

He tripped Tavares from behind with the Cape Verde striker bearing down on goal and the Angola referee Helder Martins, having initially cautioned Bayeh, changed his mind after reviewing his decision on the pitchside VAR screen.

Ethiopia gamely fought on despite the disadvantage of being a man down, and looked to be taking a psychological boost into the break by managing to hold Cape Verde at bay, before Tavares’ brave finish from close range.

Just minutes earlier, Ethiopia had a chance to be first on the score sheet when Abubeker Nasir intercepted a poor back pass from Irish-born Roberto Lopes but goalkeeper Marcio Rosa, winning only his third cap, was quickly off his line to smother the opportunity.

Ethiopia, who were the first team to arrive in Cameroon for the tournament a fortnight ago, are one of the few countries at the finals not hampered by COVID-19 infections.

Cape Verde next meet Burkina Faso on Thursday, while Cameroon will face Ethiopia.- ESPN

Cervical Cancer Screening
