Suspicious Mining Permit Emerges, Granting Over 40 Hectares to Alleged ED Son
Harare, Zimbabwe – A controversial mining permit has surfaced, raising concerns over potential favoritism in the allocation of the country’s gold resources.
The controversial mining grant to Patson Tapiwanashe Mnangagwa
The permit, which grants exclusive mining rights to over 40 hectares of land, has been issued to an individual suspected to be a child of the ZANU PF leader. The special grant, registered under the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development, allows gold extraction in a prime mining region, sparking suspicions of political influence.
Critics have raised serious questions about transparency, pointing out that such large-scale permits are rarely granted to ordinary Zimbabweans.
As speculation grows, authorities have yet to comment on the origins of the permit or the connections of its recipient. However, the emergence of this grant is likely to intensify debates over corruption and the control of Zimbabwe’s mineral wealth.
ZANU PF Director of Information and Publicity, Farai Marapira, has dismissed allegations of factionalism within the ruling party.
He emphasized that the party remains united under the capable leadership of President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.
In a statement, Marapira stated:
“There are no factions in @ZANUPF_Official. We are all united under President Mnangagwa’s leadership.
Revolutionary wartime songs are sung at every gathering, and it’s unfortunate that some overly eager individuals see shadows where there are none.
The Party’s stance is clear at our meetings; we have structures in place. Decisions are made at our conferences, and press briefings are conducted by Ambassador Mutsvangwa, not rogue pressers from Tom, Dick, or Harry.
ZANU PF operates through structured processes; when we meet, we engage in meaningful discussions and make collective decisions.
All other noise is mere chatter and of no consequence… don’t pay attention to it. Regarding the video, I realize I haven’t provided one recently, but I promise to share it within the next seven working days. I’m certain you’re eagerly anticipating it, as there’s so much progress I’m excited to share with you—stay tuned!”
An 11-year-old boy from Adelaide Park in Harare tragically drowned in a water-filled open pit on Sunday. Tanaka Makosa was playing with his friend when he slipped into the pit, which had been left unattended.
According to his friend, Tanaka had wanted to test the water’s depth and called out for help once before being submerged. The friend rushed to find help, but it was too late to save Tanaka.
A neighbor, Mr. Japhet Chinganga, attempted to rescue Tanaka but was unable to save him. Tanaka’s mother, Mrs. Mercy Taimo, expressed her devastation, saying she had spent the day with Tanaka and his friend before they left without her noticing.
The incident has raised concerns among Adelaide Park residents about the numerous open pits in the area, which pose a significant risk to children’s safety. Residents have called for a permanent solution to prevent similar tragedies.
The company responsible for the stone quarry, Gum Tree Mine, attributed the open pits to efforts to unclog the road during the rainy season in 2022. The manager, Mr. Brian Gwelo, expressed sadness over the incident and stated that the company is working on reclaiming the pits.
Broadcaster Multichoice announces it has cancelled Walter Magaya’s church program
In an exclusive operation ZimEye in which has monthly collaborated with senior police bosses since Sept 2024, the Waterfalls Police Inspector Nyarai Gunhe who in the period Sept 2024-Jan 2025, has been referring Walter Magaya’s staff members to the same Office In Charge who stamped the fake UNISA certificate the preacher used in his High Court case against ZIFA, was engaged. The Inspector was today caught on a LIVE broadcast arranging to receive another suspicious payment of USD1,000 from @phdmagaya’s deputy Clive Musango declared in writing as for the purpose of authenticating another @unisa certificate for the preacher since the first one done on 15 Dec 2024 that @ProfMadhuku argued against in the High Court.
Today’s arrangement is not the first involving the same officer and the same Walter Magaya employee. They have been in the same payment operation since Sept 2024. The first time the purpose of payment of USD500, was for covering up the rape of several women caged at the hotel and covering up evidence following the murder of Magaya’s bodyguard, Liberty Chinembiri. In none of these cases, has the officer raised alarm.
Officers including Inspector Nyarai Gunhe have been receiving suspicious money from Walter Magaya since 7th Sept 2024 and just today 30 Jan 2025, a payment of USD1,000 for another UNISA certificate was accepted for by Inspector Nyarai Gunhe to be dropped off at 10.30am; this time the officer was communicating with an investigative journalist at ZimEye through her official phone number + 26377 248 ****
Bosses at PGHQ (headquarters) in the period 8 Sept 2024 right down to 30 Jan 2025, have told ZimEye Inspector Gunhe broke the code, and an investigation was underway at the time of writing.
This official ZRP operation was run due to the rapid disappearance of case evidence at the police station, payments spotted in Magaya’s bank accounts since 2017, and of late, the fake UNISA certificate.
Senior officers confirmed to ZimEye that Officer Gunhe’s communications to the undercover journalist since Sept 2024 constitute serious wrongdoing. A project was set up soon afterwards since 8 Sept 2024.
The payment arrangement was broadcast LIVE on the ZimEye Facebook page. The journalist who successfully infiltrated Walter Magaya’s operations was posing as a Tinashe sent by Magaya’s overseer Clive Musango. More on the ZimEye news website

By Munacho Gwamanda- The Trump administration has sent a blunt message to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government, urging it to take full responsibility for Zimbabwe’s healthcare system, including procuring antiretroviral therapy (ART) and ensuring clinics are adequately staffed.
For decades, Zimbabwe has relied heavily on international donors, particularly the United States, to fund its HIV/AIDS response.
Since independence in 1980, the U.S. has provided over $5 billion in humanitarian and development assistance, with more than $1 billion disbursed in the past three years alone.
Much of this aid has come through initiatives like the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, which have been instrumental in Zimbabwe achieving the 95-95-95 UNAIDS targets—ensuring 95% of people living with HIV know their status, 95% of those diagnosed receive treatment, and 95% of those on treatment achieve viral suppression.
However, corruption and mismanagement have plagued Zimbabwe’s healthcare sector.
Millions of dollars intended for HIV treatment and public health programs have been lost to graft. High-profile scandals—such as the COVID-19 procurement scandal in 2020, where Health Minister Obadiah Moyo was dismissed over corruption allegations—have fueled donor skepticism.
Reports have also linked politically connected elites to the looting of funds meant for essential drugs, leading to widespread shortages in hospitals and clinics.
Now, the Trump administration is shifting its stance on foreign aid.
In line with President Trump’s Executive Order on Reevaluating and Realigning U.S. Foreign Aid, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has paused all foreign assistance funded by the State Department and USAID pending a review.
A statement from the U.S. Embassy in Zimbabwe confirmed the policy shift:
“It is time for Zimbabwe to take seriously its responsibility for the health of its people. For HIV, Zimbabwe has hit the 95-95-95 targets. They urgently need to be focused on buying ART and getting nurses in clinics. They can do this.”
Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Daniel Garwe, has urged civil servants in Masvingo to support the extension of President Mnangagwa’s term to 2030 or face the consequences of stress and high blood pressure.
Garwe made the remarks during the handover of title deeds to government employees at Masvingo Polytechnic on Thursday. He emphasized that those who oppose the idea risk suffering from health issues like hypertension.
“The 2030 agenda is a done deal,” Garwe said. “President Emmerson Mnangagwa is here to stay. If you don’t want to suffer from high blood pressure, support the call for the extension of his term beyond 2028. Those opposing the conference resolution are simply misguided.”
He further added, “The 2030 agenda is unstoppable. Tell your colleagues that we are not going back on this one.”
South Africa’s national team coach, Hugo Broos, is confident that his side can emerge victorious against Zimbabwe in Group B of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The two neighboring countries were drawn into the same group during a draw held in Rabat, Morocco, on Monday.
Broos believes that Egypt is the favorite to win the group, but he is optimistic about Bafana Bafana’s chances against Zimbabwe. “When I look at our opponents at the AFCON, I think Egypt are the favourites to win the group… And then we have Zimbabwe again, they’re a neighbour of South Africa,” Broos told SAFA Media.
Broos acknowledged that matches against Zimbabwe are often challenging, but he pointed out that South Africa has dominated their previous encounters in the
The announcement of the provisional Mighty Warriors squad for the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026 Qualifiers has raised eyebrows, with star player Rudo Neshamba’s conspicuous absence from the team sparking speculation.
While the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has not officially commented on Neshamba’s exclusion, sources close to the team suggest that the decision may have been due to a combination of factors, including form, fitness, and team dynamics.
Neshamba, a key player for the Mighty Warriors in previous tournaments, has been a consistent performer for her club team. However, her absence from the national team has raised questions about the selection criteria and whether there are any underlying issues.
The provisional squad, led by Coach Sithethelelwe Sibanda, boasts a mix of local and international talent, including Australia-based forward Yolanda Kanyai and Emmaculate Msipa and Ruvimbo Mucherera, who play in Israel.
As Zimbabwe prepares to face Angola in the first round of the qualifiers in February, fans and pundits alike are left wondering why Neshamba is not part of the squad. Only time will tell if the decision to exclude her will pay off for the Mighty Warriors.
A gruesome incident has unfolded in Bulawayo’s Cowdray Park suburb, where a 34-year-old woman, Happiness Chimbangu, allegedly killed her husband and two children following a domestic dispute.
Chimbangu is accused of using a metal digger to fatally stab her husband, Edwin Chimbangu, 35, and their children, Promise, 4, and seven-month-old Prudence.
Acting Bulawayo police provincial spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, speaking to State media, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are currently underway.
Giving water to accident victims, especially those with severe injuries, is not advisable for several reasons:
Internal injuries: The victim may have internal injuries, such as bleeding or organ damage, that can be worsened by drinking water.
Shock: Accident victims may be in shock, and drinking water can cause a sudden drop in blood pressure, making the situation worse.
Swallowing difficulties: Injured victims may have difficulty swallowing due to head or neck trauma, which can lead to choking or aspiration.
Anesthesia complications: If the victim needs surgery, drinking water can complicate anesthesia administration and increase the risk of complications.
Delayed diagnosis: Giving water may mask symptoms, making it harder for medical professionals to diagnose the extent of the injuries.
It’s essential to follow proper first aid protocols and seek medical attention immediately. Medical professionals will assess the victim’s condition and provide appropriate treatment.
Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame has accused South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa of dishonesty regarding their conversations about the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Kagame claims that Ramaphosa’s public statements about their discussions have been distorted and filled with lies.
“I held two conversations this week with President Ramaphosa on the situation in Eastern DRC, including earlier today.
What has been said about these conversations in the media by South African officials and President Ramaphosa himself contains a lot of distortion, deliberate attacks, and even lies,” Kagame stated.
Kagame clarified several points, including that the Rwanda Defence Force is a professional army, not a militia. “The Rwanda Defence Force is an army, not a militia,” he emphasized.
He also criticized the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Mission in the DRC (SAMIDRC), stating that it is not a peacekeeping force, but rather a belligerent force authorized to engage in combat operations. “SAMIDRC is not a peacekeeping force, and it has no place in this situation. It was authorized by SADC as a belligerent force engaging in offensive combat operations to help the DRC Government fight against its own people, working alongside genocidal armed groups like FDLR which target Rwanda, while also threatening to take the war to Rwanda itself.”
Kagame also denied that Ramaphosa had given him any warnings, saying, “President Ramaphosa has never given a ‘warning’ of any kind, unless it was delivered in his local language which I do not understand.”
Furthermore, Kagame revealed that Ramaphosa confirmed to him that the M23 rebels did not kill the South African soldiers, but rather the FARDC (Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo). “President Ramaphosa confirmed to me that M23 did not kill the soldiers from South Africa, FARDC did,” Kagame said.
Kagame emphasized that South Africa is not in a position to be a peacemaker or mediator in the conflict, stating, “If South Africa wants to contribute to peaceful solutions, that is well and good, but South Africa is in no position to take on the role of a peacemaker or mediator. And if South Africa prefers confrontation, Rwanda will deal with the matter in that context any day.”
Controversial businessman and Zanu PF benefactor Wicknell Chivayo has fired back at Acting President Constantino Chiwenga, calling him a “failed politician” after Chiwenga’s anti-corruption remarks on Monday.
Speaking at the burial of former Deputy Chief Secretary Justin Mupamhanga at the National Heroes Acre, Chiwenga warned corrupt elements within Zanu PF, accusing them of enriching themselves through illicit means. He invoked the term zvigananda, a wartime label for individuals who amassed wealth dishonestly, and emphasized that Zimbabwe’s founding principles rejected greed and self-enrichment.
“Our Vision 2030 is for all of us, not just for those you call mbinga [tycoons],” Chiwenga stated. “In the liberation struggle, we called them zvigananda—those who grow big tummies through ill-gotten wealth and questionable morals.” While Chiwenga did not mention anyone by name, many saw his remarks as a thinly veiled attack on Chivayo, who has faced accusations of profiting from inflated state contracts.
Chivayo, not one to shy away from confrontation, took to social media on Wednesday to respond directly, vowing not to be intimidated. “I will always support President E.D. Mnangagwa and Zanu PF’s vision, and no individual, big or small, can instill fear in me. I will neither be moved by nor shaken by any veiled threats from failed politicians,” Chivayo declared.
Additionally, Chivayo sought to distance himself from a controversial letter that allegedly requested permission from local banks to withdraw up to US$20 million per month for undisclosed transactions.
Chivayo, a convicted fraudster who served time in prison in 2005 for money laundering involving R837,000, remains a prominent figure within Zanu PF. Despite his criminal background, he has continued to flaunt his wealth and secure lucrative government deals, raising ongoing questions about the party’s commitment to combating corruption.
Two learners from Morgenster High School, a Reformed Church in Zimbabwe-run institution are feared dead following a devastating head-on collision along Nemamwa road.
The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday when a kombi and a Honda Fit collided.
According to police sources, the learners were traveling home with their parents after school when the accident occurred.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is yet to release an official statement on the incident.
The Morgenster High School community is likely to be shaken by this tragic incident.
The school and the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe will likely offer support and counseling to the families of the learners involved and their fellow students.
Bright Madhuyu, the coordinator of the Bikita Residents and Rate Payers Association (BIRRA), is living in fear after security agents from the Central Intelligence Organization (CIO) threatened him at his home. The threat followed his efforts to demand accountability and transparency from the Bikita Rural District Council (RDC).
Madhuyu had requested a government-sanctioned report from the Hungwe Commission of Inquiry regarding corruption allegations at the Bikita RDC. These accusations stem from two years ago, when top officials purchased high-end Toyota GD6 vehicles without government approval and formed a private company, Hanyani, to operate council business illegally.
After BIRRA raised the issue on their social media platforms, following unsuccessful attempts to obtain the report from the council, Madhuyu was confronted by security officers who threatened him with unspecified actions.
“They came to my house last night after the issue sparked heated debate on our platforms and threatened me. I am scared and living in fear,” said Madhuyu.
This is not the first time Madhuyu has been targeted. Last November, security agents harassed him after BIRRA raised concerns about the exploitation of local resources by Chinese-owned Sino Mine and Bikita Lithium Mine, which were accused of doing little to benefit the community.
BIRRA leaders also report receiving anonymous calls from individuals claiming to be from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) using private numbers.
Efforts to obtain comments from the CIO and ZRP officials in Masvingo were unsuccessful.
The threats and intimidation against Madhuyu and other BIRRA leaders are a grave concern for the safety of human rights defenders who advocate for quality service delivery while fighting corruption and demanding transparency and accountability.
By Crime and Courts Reporter-A group of armed robbers stormed a Redan Service Station in Harare, as captured in a CCTV video now circulating on social media.
The masked criminals forced their way into the petrol station’s office, threatening employees and demanding cash.
ZimEye is, however, in the process of establishing the location and the name of the petrol station.
This latest attack adds to the growing wave of violent robberies targeting service stations, businesses, and homes across Harare.
Armed gangs have become increasingly brazen, often using sophisticated weapons and getaway tactics.
Recent high-profile heists include the robbery at a Mukuru money transfer outlet in July and a daring daylight raid on a fuel station along Simon Mazorodze Road in June.
Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

By Munacho Gwamanda- Controversial and self-imposed interim secretary-general of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Sengezo Tshabangu, has abruptly withdrawn his support for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s third-term bid, declaring that his faction will oppose any constitutional amendments to extend Mnangagwa’s rule beyond 2028.
This announcement comes just weeks after Tshabangu publicly endorsed Mnangagwa’s potential third term during a high-profile visit to the president’s Precabe farm in Sherwood, Kwekwe.
His previous stance had drawn sharp criticism from opposition figures, who accused him of betraying the democratic cause and aligning with ZANU PF’s authoritarian ambitions.
However, following a meeting with Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda, Tshabangu has reversed his position.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Nqobizitha Mlilo, he denounced the third-term agenda as “repulsive and repugnant,” arguing that it is incompatible with Zimbabwe’s democratic aspirations. “The recurring question: Will the CCC support calls for President Mnangagwa’s third term? Framed this way, it’s a pointless discussion,” said Mlilo. “The postponement of the 2028 elections or the so-called 2030 agenda cannot be reduced to the messianic redemption of a country by an individual. These matters have not been lawfully presented in any legitimate forum of national governance—they remain an internal ZANU PF issue.”
Tshabangu’s abrupt shift has raised eyebrows, with critics questioning his sincerity and political motivations.
Many believe that without the backing of state institutions, he would not have been able to seize control of the CCC, leading to suspicions that he remains indebted to ZANU PF.
By A Correspondent | ZimEye | President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s “endless-voltage- inventor” Maxwell Sangulani Chikumbutso is a fraud convict who has a history of proven illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm arm that was used in multiple robberies in Harare, ZimEye reveals.
Sangulani Chikumbutso changed his own name soon after his conviction for fraud.
On Tuesday, Mnangagwa announced Maxwell Chikumbutso as a persecuted inventor facing arrest by the government to stop his scientific activism for which he was once poisoned. ZimEye has fact checked this claim and found Chikumbutso as one of many undercover agents the ZANU PF run state conveniently persecutes.
The world’s highest mountain isn’t Mt Everest; it’s in Harare, ZW, and it’s called Mt Ever-Arrest, where agents are quickly promoted to lead political parties, and only get discovered when they start winning empty defamation cases against Mnangagwa’s advisors. Those who have ears…
Police and prosecutors report there is strong evidence linking Maxwell Sangulani Chikumbutso to various armed robberies in Harare. Some of the court records have since disappeared from the court records website archives.

Opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has called President Emmerson Mnangagwa an unforgiving and heartless individual.

The SANDF has made it clear that it will not tolerate the loss of its personnel and is taking decisive action in response to the attack.
The deployment of fighter jets underscores the seriousness with which South Africa views the deaths of its troops and sends a strong message of retaliation against those responsible for the killings.
The M23 rebel group has been involved in ongoing conflicts in the DRC, and tensions have escalated in recent months, particularly in the North Kivu region. The South African government and military leaders have vowed to continue their support for peacekeeping operations in the region, despite the recent loss of life.
A shocking incident has come to light in Harare, where a 20-year-old man from Mazowe was allegedly robbed and raped by three women. The suspects, Diana Sibanda, 35, Brendy Msipa, 35, and Tabeth Harris, 33, appeared in court on charges of robbery and sexual assault.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on January 25 when the victim was driving on Leopold Takawira Street. Sibanda allegedly forced open the passenger door, stole the victim’s phone, and threatened him with a screwdriver. The victim was then taken to a nearby house, where Msipa and Harris allegedly joined in, undressing and raping him.
The trio allegedly demanded money, stealing US$20 and later US$80. They also forced the victim to hire a taxi to his home. However, the situation took a turn when the victim spotted police nearby and called for help, leading to the women’s arrest and the recovery of his belongings.
The suspects have been remanded in custody until February 13, pending further investigation.
In a bizarre twist of events that has sparked both outrage and laughter across Zimbabwe and South Africa, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has found himself at the center of a mockery following his enthusiastic endorsement of a so-called “invention” that turned out to be nothing more than an imported car from China.
The mastermind behind this elaborate ruse is none other than Maxwell Sangulani Chikumbutso, a Zimbabwean entrepreneur who successfully passed off a foreign vehicle as his own innovation, leaving many questioning the integrity of both the inventor and the president.
The incident unfolded during a high-profile event at the State House, where Chikumbutso proudly unveiled his “creation” — a vehicle that he claimed to have engineered himself. To the astonishment of attendees, including Mnangagwa, the car showcased modern features and sleek design, leading the president to lavish praise on its supposed inventor. “This represents our nation’s potential and ingenuity. We must support our local innovators!” Mnangagwa proclaimed, seemingly oblivious to the truth behind the vehicle’s origins.
However, social media users and skeptical citizens quickly began to unravel the deception. Investigative efforts revealed that the car was, in fact, imported directly from a Chinese manufacturer, complete with documentation that traced its journey from overseas to Zimbabwe. The revelation sent shockwaves through the nation, igniting a flurry of memes and satirical commentary aimed at both Chikumbutso and the president.
Many Zimbabweans took to platforms like Twitter and Facebook to poke fun at Mnangagwa’s gullibility, while others voiced their frustration over the ongoing difficulties faced by genuine local inventors who struggle for recognition and support. “Now we know why the president is so keen on innovation—he believes everything he’s told,” one user quipped, highlighting the irony of the situation.
Chikumbutso, for his part, has remained largely silent following the fallout, raising questions about the motivations behind his audacious claim.
By Munacho Gwamanda- Controversial preacher Walter Magaya is under fire after his claims of holding academic qualifications from the University of South Africa (UNISA) were debunked.
The university publicly refuted assertions that Magaya had a Marketing Diploma or an honorary PhD from the institution, declaring any certificates he presented as fraudulent.
The university issued a statement on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, clarifying that their records show no evidence of Magaya ever being registered or graduating from UNISA. Reads the statement: The University of South Africa (Unisa) notes with serious concern information doing the rounds in the public domain as well as in a recent video circulating on social media, where it is purported that a certain Zimbabwean national, Walter Magaya, is a graduate or alumnus of the university. Responding to a media query from a certain international media platform, the university confirmed that, based on the information provided by the said media platform, the system of the university could not find any record showing that Mr Magaya was ever registered or graduated with Unisa. This effectively means that Unisa does not have Mr Magaya either as a student or a graduate. Any certificate/s he produces which he claims to be from Unisa is/are therefore fraudulent. Subsequent to the issuing of the media response, the university also came across a video clip in the social media domain, wherein Mr Magaya also claims to have received an honorary doctorate from Unisa. The university has never conferred any honorary doctorate on Mr Magaya and strongly condemns this false claim. We believe that conduct of this nature damages and brings our brand into disrepute and we reserve the right to take appropriate corrective action. Relevant authorities within the university have therefore been requested to take the necessary legal action in this regard.
Magaya’s deceit was brought to light after he was disqualified from contesting the presidency of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) for failing to meet the minimum educational requirement of five O-Level passes.
He then attempted to use a purported UNISA diploma as proof of his qualifications in a bid to overturn the ruling despite the diploma’s questionable authenticity.
This scandal adds to a string of allegations and controversies surrounding Magaya, including accusations of rape, attempted murder, and the infamous claim to have discovered a cure for HIV/AIDS.
His credibility continues to be questioned, not only in the religious community but also in the public eye, as his leadership in both the church and football remains overshadowed by these serious allegations.
Harare-based football giants, Dynamos FC, have made a significant addition to their squad with the capture of talented left-back Takudzwa Gerald Taurayi from DZ Royals. The 23-year-old defender has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Glamour Boys, bolstering their defensive options.
Taurayi’s signing is a major coup for Dynamos FC, who have been seeking to strengthen their backline.
The young defender’s impressive performances for DZ Royals caught the attention of the Glamour Boys’ coaching staff, who believe he has the potential to become a key player for the team.
With his pace, skill, and defensive prowess, Taurayi is expected to bring a new dimension to Dynamos FC’s defense.
His arrival is a timely boost for the team, who will be seeking to challenge for honors in the upcoming season.
Dynamos FC fans will be eagerly awaiting the opportunity to see Taurayi in action, and the club’s coaching staff will be working closely with him to ensure a smooth transition into the team. With this exciting new signing, the Glamour Boys are sending a clear message that they are committed to building a strong and competitive squad.
Opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has called President Emmerson Mnangagwa an unforgiving and heartless individual.
In a recent interview with Studio 7, Chamisa expressed his strong views, accusing Mnangagwa of holding a personal grudge against him. He suggested that the President’s animosity stems from Chamisa’s popularity among the people of Zimbabwe and his victory in previous elections.
“Mr. Mnangagwa hates me because I am loved by the people of Zimbabwe,” Chamisa said. “My crime is that I defeated him in the past elections, and that’s why he holds this grudge.”
Chamisa also addressed the role of Sengezo Tshabangu, Secretary of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), whom he described as a “typical Zanu PF puppet” and a “tool of destruction.”
“I have not abandoned the people’s struggle; I only left an infiltrated party,” Chamisa stated. “As for Sengezo Tshabangu, he is just another Zanu PF instrument.”
Chamisa’s comments highlight the ongoing tensions between opposition forces and the ruling government in Zimbabwe.
Three notorious criminals who had terrorized Masvingo residents and business owners with a spree of armed robberies have been sentenced to a combined 345 years in prison.
The offenders, Clever Svuure (28), Vusumuzi Bhebhe (25), and Yasin Joseph (21), were apprehended by Masvingo police after investigators linked them to a robbery that took place in the early hours of January 15, 2025.
The trio was involved in a shocking string of 14 armed robberies carried out in a single day.
At their recent court appearance at the Masvingo Regional Magistrate Court, Svuure was sentenced to 95 years, while both Bhebhe and Joseph received 125 years each for their involvement in the crimes.
In a shocking move, President Donald Trump has imposed a 90-day freeze on all foreign aid spending, including funding for HIV programs, putting millions of lives at risk. This decision affects the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), a crucial program in the global fight against HIV/AIDS, as well as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) efforts to combat tuberculosis (TB) globally.
“The US government has played a critical role in fighting HIV and TB globally, and this freeze could undo years of progress,” warns Dr. Madhukar Pai, a professor at McGill University. “I hope the global health community rallies to advocate for continued US support.”
PEPFAR, launched in 2003, has been instrumental in saving over 26 million lives, providing antiretroviral treatment for millions, conducting HIV testing, and supporting maternal and child health initiatives, particularly in Africa. The program operates in over 50 countries and has enjoyed bipartisan support across four presidential administrations.
The consequences of the funding halt could be catastrophic, with the Foundation for AIDS Research (amFAR) warning of unnecessary suffering and increased transmission rates.
Over 190,000 clinicians and healthcare workers worldwide rely on PEPFAR support, and the sudden halt could disrupt essential HIV treatment services, testing, and prevention efforts.
As Dr. Pai notes, this could be a wake-up call for global health to be less dependent on any single donor. “African nations, for instance, could use this moment to increase local manufacturing of essential medicines and vaccines, reducing reliance on foreign aid.”
Nelson Chamisa Accuses Mnangagwa of Being Unforgiving and Heartless

Chamisa’s comments highlight the ongoing tensions between opposition forces and the ruling government in Zimbabwe.
By Munacho Gwamanda-The University of South Africa (UNISA) has disowned controversial preacher Walter Magaya, refuting claims that he holds a Marketing Diploma accredited by the institution.
This revelation further undermines Magaya’s bid to overturn his disqualification from contesting for the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) presidency.
Magaya, founder of Yadah FC and a prominent figure in Zimbabwean football, was barred from the ZIFA race after failing to meet the minimum requirement of five O-Level passes.
In an attempt to challenge the ruling, he submitted a photocopied and certified diploma purportedly from UNISA as proof of his academic credentials.
However, in a letter dated January 28, 2025, addressed to journalist Maynard Manyowa of Dug Up, UNISA categorically denied any record of Magaya’s enrollment or qualification. The letter stated:
“Kindly be advised that based on the details you provided, our system could not trace either a student number or date of birth for Mr. Magaya. This effectively means that we do not have Mr. Magaya as a student of UNISA.”
Despite this, Magaya insisted that his alleged diploma—a higher qualification—should exempt him from the O-Level requirement.
Although Magaya has made significant contributions to Zimbabwean football, including building a stadium and sponsoring women’s football, his reputation is tainted by serious controversies and allegations.
He previously claimed to have developed a cure for HIV/AIDS and has faced multiple allegations of sexual abuse from women within his church.
This latest scandal raises further questions about Magaya’s credibility as a prophet and a public figure.

Washington, DC- A severe shortage of HIV treatment supplies is looming after US President Donald Trump imposed a 90-day freeze on all foreign aid spending, including funding for HIV programs, in a move that threatens to unravel decades of US-led global health initiatives.
The State Department confirmed in a memo that the freeze affects current foreign assistance programs, including the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), which has been instrumental in fighting HIV/AIDS worldwide.
The suspension extends to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), further jeopardizing efforts to combat tuberculosis (TB) globally.
The decision has drawn sharp criticism from global health organizations, warning that even short disruptions can have devastating consequences.
PEPFAR, launched in 2003 by then-President George W. Bush, has been one of the most significant global health programs in history.
With a total of $100 billion spent, it stands as the largest public health commitment by any single country to fight a specific disease.
The program operates in over 50 countries and is credited with saving upwards of 26 million lives.
PEPFAR provides antiretroviral treatment for millions, conducts crucial HIV testing, and supports maternal and child health initiatives, particularly in Africa, which remains the epicenter of the epidemic.
Despite political shifts in Washington, PEPFAR has enjoyed bipartisan support across four presidential administrations.
However, Trump’s freeze signals a departure from this long-standing consensus, injecting uncertainty into global HIV/AIDS relief efforts.
The consequences of the funding halt could be catastrophic.
The Foundation for AIDS Research (amFAR) warns that the abrupt cessation of PEPFAR-supported programs will result in unnecessary suffering and increased transmission rates.
More than 190,000 clinicians and healthcare workers worldwide rely on PEPFAR support, and the sudden halt could disrupt essential HIV treatment services, testing, and prevention efforts.
According to amFAR, PEPFAR funds:
Antiretroviral treatments for 222,000 people annually.
HIV tests for more than 224,000 individuals.
Over 7,000 cervical cancer screenings per year.
Care for more than 3,500 women experiencing gender-based violence.
USAID, another pillar of US global health assistance, has invested $4.7 billion in TB programs since 2000.
With its funding now suspended, progress against TB—one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases—may be severely hindered.
Global health experts are sounding the alarm over the repercussions of Trump’s decision. Dr. Madhukar Pai, a professor at McGill University and associate director of the McGill International TB Centre, called this a “crisis moment” for global health and development.
“The US government has played a critical role in fighting HIV and TB globally, and this freeze could undo years of progress,” Pai said. “I hope the global health community rallies to advocate for continued US support.”
However, Pai also sees an opportunity for other nations to step up in response to the US withdrawal.
“This could be a wake-up call for global health to be less dependent on any single donor,” he noted. “African nations, for instance, could use this moment to increase local manufacturing of essential medicines and vaccines, reducing reliance on foreign aid. Likewise, G7 and G20 nations should consider filling the funding gap left by the US.”
As of last week, all US foreign assistance remains frozen for at least 90 days pending a review, though the period could be extended. If Trump’s funding pause continues, millions of lives could be at risk, and the US risks losing its position as a leader in global health diplomacy.

A devastating incident in Phola, near Witbank, has led to a 60-year-old father, Fanie Petros Mtshali, being sentenced to 15 years in prison for murdering his daughter. The Witbank Regional Court delivered the verdict on January 21, 2025.
The tragic events unfolded on September 10, 2022, when the victim arrived home around 11 pm, prompting a confrontation with her father. A heated argument ensued, with the father reprimanding his daughter for her late arrival.
In a moment of uncontrolled anger, the father slapped his daughter, causing her to fall onto a television set. Sadly, she suffered fatal injuries and passed away at the scene.
The Zimbabwe men’s football team, the Warriors, have been placed in Group B for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), alongside football powerhouses Egypt, regional rivals South Africa, and Southern Africa neighbours Angola.
The draw, which took place in Rabat, Morocco on Monday, sets up a challenging path for the Warriors as they face some of the continent’s top teams. Egypt, with their rich footballing history, is expected to be a particularly tough opponent, while South Africa and Angola will also provide stiff competition.
The AFCON 2025 tournament is set to be held in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has intensified its efforts to boost its revenue collection, announcing new tax measures targeting livestock this week. This move has raised concerns among already struggling citizens, particularly farmers, who are now being asked to include the value of their livestock—such as goats, sheep, and other animals—as part of their gross income for tax purposes.
ZIMRA’s latest initiative is in line with Section 8 (1) (h) of the Income Tax Act, which mandates farmers to include the closing stock value of livestock in their income reports. According to the law, livestock includes not only cattle, sheep, and goats, but also pigs, crocodiles, poultry, ostriches, zebras, and horses. These animals are further classified into “stud” livestock, which are kept for breeding, and “ordinary” livestock, which are either born on the farm or purchased for purposes other than breeding.
Farmers must report the value of their livestock at the close of the year, which is incorporated into their gross income for tax calculations. To determine this closing value, farmers can choose from various valuation methods, but these methods must be approved by the ZIMRA Commissioner.
As ZIMRA stated, “The reviewed values must be approved by the Commissioner,” emphasizing the need for approval for any adjustments.
This new move comes at a time when many Zimbabweans are already facing severe economic hardships, and farmers are expressing concerns that these measures could add further strain.
One farmer, who wished to remain anonymous, shared their frustrations: “We’re struggling to feed our families, let alone deal with more government regulations- that will only add to our financial burden.”
Critics argue that this latest tax imposition will only exacerbate the economic challenges faced by smallholder farmers, particularly those who rely heavily on livestock for their livelihoods.
Despite the concerns, ZIMRA maintains that the new measures are necessary to increase government revenue. A spokesperson for the authority stated, “As a country, we need to ensure that every taxable item, including livestock, is properly accounted for in order to sustain public services.”
Farmers, however, remain skeptical, wondering whether this new tax system will further push them into deeper financial trouble. The pressure is mounting for both the government and citizens to find a balance between revenue generation and economic survival in a nation already grappling with inflation and unemployment.
Zimbabwe’s prominent opposition leader, Advocate Nelson Chamisa, has declared that the time has come to address the nation’s ongoing political crisis, which he argues is hindering the country’s progress and development. In a statement released on Tuesday, Chamisa emphasized the critical need to restore trust between the government and the people in order to foster national unity and success.
“There is no government that can ever prosper, succeed, or be functionally effective when the majority of the citizens are not in agreement with it,” Chamisa stated. He went on to stress that the deep-rooted mistrust between the government and the citizens has been a major obstacle to the country’s advancement. “We must and will fix this problem,” he added, showing his resolve to address the issue head-on.
Chamisa, who leads the opposition party Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has been vocal about the need for political reforms and greater accountability from the government. His comments come at a time when many Zimbabweans are struggling with economic challenges and feel increasingly alienated from their leadership.
The lack of faith in the government, according to Chamisa, is not only a political issue but a barrier to economic recovery and national development. “The people must have trust in their leaders, and without that trust, the entire nation suffers,” Chamisa remarked.
The opposition leader’s call to action highlights the urgency for dialogue and political reconciliation, as Zimbabwe faces a crossroads in its path to stability and prosperity. His comments resonate with many citizens who have long expressed frustration with the current political climate and are eager for change.
The Harare Province Juniors Football Development League (HPJFDL) is facing an uncertain future due to a prolonged leadership crisis. The league’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) and elections, which were expected to usher in new leadership, have been inexplicably delayed.
Rumors are rife that the current leadership is deliberately stalling the electoral process, fearing that they will lose their positions if elections are held. This apprehension is fueled by the league’s dismal performance in 2024, which was marred by allegations of financial mismanagement, poorly organized tournaments, and questionable appointments.
The 2024 season was widely regarded as a disaster, with many clubs and academies expressing frustration with the league’s leadership. As a result, there is a growing consensus among stakeholders to install a new, competent executive to revitalize the HPJFDL.
With the league’s future hanging in the balance, it remains to be seen when the AGM and elections will be held, and whether the current leadership will relinquish power to make way for a new, more effective administration.
One thing is certain, however: the status quo is unsustainable, and drastic changes are needed to restore the HPJFDL to its former glory.
South Africa’s assistant coach, Helman Mkhalele, admitted that his team was hoping to avoid being drawn into the same group as Zimbabwe for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Bafana Bafana were placed in Group B alongside Zimbabwe, Angola, and Egypt during the draw, which took place in Rabat, Morocco, on Monday evening.
Ahead of the draw, Mkhalele spoke to SABC Sport, expressing his preference: “If I had to choose, I wouldn’t want South Africa to be in the same group as Zimbabwe, and possibly Nigeria or Benin, as we’re already facing them in the World Cup qualifiers.”
After the draw paired South Africa with Zimbabwe in Group B, Mkhalele remarked, “It’s not a huge surprise that we were drawn with Zimbabwe. We know each other well, and it’s a tough group. All the teams in the group have improved, so it will be a challenge. We aim to build on the momentum from the last edition.”
South Africa finished as second runners-up in the 2023 AFCON, after claiming victory in the third-place playoff.

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | At a time when Emmerson Mnangagwa has been denounced by uniformed soldiers as of Monday, he has suddenly popped back at work, to collaborate his own units who are undercover characters; and the ZBC channel, late Tuesday reported one Maxwell Chikumbutso, a character synonymous with sudden death of prominent people. Mnangagwa paraded Chikumbutso at State House as an inventor of an electric car and a motorbike, both ‘that run forever without any fuel.’ Chikumbutso uses his said inventions to project Mnangagwa as a promoter of science and development. The car Chikumbutso presents could be put into immediate use as an ambulance or a rescue vehicle to travel around the country forever without petrol or diesel cost; but it is really a fake invention. A short search reveals the two are actually on sale second hand on Chinese websites, and Chikumbutso simply placated his logo onto them soon after an explosive ZimEye interview revealed Chikumbutso has not even invented a toothpick in his lifetime. (See interview link below).
Chikumbutso has been grilled by ZimEye over the sudden death of prominent people that happened soon after he had popped up in public in the same way he has done today, posing as an inventor. One of the people who died suspiciously is Marry Chiwenga’s cousin, Genius Kadungure, who Chikumbutso has befriended a few weeks before .
ZimEye investigations reveal Chikumbutso is an undercover army unit member of Mnangagwa’s, one of whom is doubtlessly needed at a time when scores of civil servants have disowned Mnangagwa.
A leading researcher in the US, Bvumavaranda Technocrat, went further to show that the same car Chikumbutso is boasting of investing does not qualify as an electric vehicle.
“This is Chikumbutso’s so-called free-energy car. If you believe this pathetic contraption is what Tesla had in mind, you are a certified dununu….,” wrote Bvumavaranda.
An electrical engineer Wilbert Mukori said Chikumbutso’s claim that he has invented something that violates the laws of thermodynamics is a farce.
“Chikumbutso is saying he is using radio waves; but radio waves do not have much energy in them; for you to be able to capture enough energy to drive a vehicle that is even more challenging. You cannot get energy from nothing. You cannot convert it from one form to another… you are defying the laws of thermodynamics,” said Mukori.
Over 6 different international media companies have fact checked and concluded that Chikumbutso is a scammer.
The development tells a dark story of how while Mnangagwa’s deputy Chiwenga can boast of support from uniformed forces, Mnangagwa is likely to be stronger because he uses undercover military personnel. (A separate investigation was done in 2022 exposing other characters.)
Mpumalanga- Unknown assailants in Mpumalanga province have burnt down a fleet of buses at four of its depots across Monday evening.
Putco bus company spokesperson Lindokuhle Xulu said initial reports indicated an unknown group of assailants ambushed and bound security at the Moloto depot before setting buses alight and opening fire inside the depot.
“The violent attack resulted in two employees being injured. One was shot in the leg and the other was hit on the head with a chair,” he said.
He said the rampage spread throughout the night, with depots reporting buses set on fire.
In total, 47 buses were burned at the Moloto, Wolwekraal, Siyabushwa and Vaalbank depots.
Xulu said despite the damage, Putco buses continue operating in the affected areas under heightened supervision.
“The company is fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities in the ongoing investigations.”
An investigation by UK-based journalist Maynard Manyowa has uncovered that the marketing diploma recently presented by Prophet Walter Magaya at the High Court is allegedly fraudulent.
Magaya submitted the diploma to contest his disqualification from the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) elections, arguing that he should not have been excluded for failing to meet the O’ Level certificate requirement. He claimed that his three diplomas, including the one now revealed as fake, were equivalent to or exceeded the required qualification.
However, a letter from the University of South Africa (UNISA), dated January 28, 2025, discredited Magaya’s claims. In the letter, which was sent to Manyowa via email, UNISA stated:
“Dear Mr. Maynard Kudakwashe Manyowa, your media inquiry regarding the above has reference. Kindly be advised that, based on the details you provided, our system could not trace either a student number or date of birth for Mr. Magaya. This effectively means that we do not have Mr. Magaya as a student of UNISA.”
The revelation raises serious questions about Magaya’s credentials and his intentions in the ZIFA presidential race.
Meanwhile, Magaya has alleged that he was coerced into supporting Nqobile Magwizi, the eventual winner of the ZIFA presidential election. The founder of PHD Ministries claims he backed Magwizi’s campaign under pressure from “elders” and “powerful people” after his disqualification in December.
A disturbing trend of intimidation has emerged in Zimbabwe’s healthcare sector, with hospital staff at Gutu Mission Hospital facing threats from aides of Zanu PF senator and State Minister Lovemore Matuke.
The workers had spoken out against Matuke’s donation of an outdated anaesthetic machine, which they claim poses a significant risk to patient safety.
The machine, a Mindray and Datray Ohmeda model, was donated during Matuke’s 2023 election campaign, with claims it was purchased for US$25,000 from the United States.
However, hospital staff have raised concerns about the machine’s viability, citing its obsolete nature and unavailability of spare parts.
“The machine is obsolete, and we cannot use it for surgical procedures,” said a hospital staff member, who wished to remain anonymous.
“It’s a risk to patient safety, and we urge the authorities to provide us with functional equipment.”
In a shocking turn of events, Matuke’s aides visited the hospital on Monday, demanding to know who had disclosed the information about the outdated machine. This blatant attempt to intimidate hospital staff has raised concerns about the prioritization of patient safety and the adequacy of resources in Zimbabwe’s healthcare system.
The incident highlights the need for greater transparency and accountability in the donation of medical equipment.
It also underscores the importance of protecting whistleblowers who speak out against substandard donations that put patient lives at risk.
A donation of an anaesthetic machine by Zanu PF senator and State Minister Lovemore Matuke to Gutu Mission Hospital has sparked concerns about patients’ safety.
The machine, a Mindray and Datray Ohmeda model, was donated during Matuke’s 2023 election campaign, despite claims it was purchased for US$25,000 from the United States.
However, workers at the hospital have raised serious concerns about the machine’s viability, citing its obsolete nature and unavailability of spare parts.
This is particularly worrying, as Gutu Mission Hospital is the only referral hospital in Gutu District with a surgical theatre, relying heavily on functioning medical equipment for patient care.
“Hon. Matuke donated a brand-new machine, and those saying it’s outdated are simply misinformed,” said a Zanu PF official, defending the donation.
However, this contradicts the concerns raised by local health workers, who fear that the equipment may put patients’ lives at risk.
“The machine is obsolete, and we cannot use it for surgical procedures,” said a hospital staff member, who wished to remain anonymous.
“It’s a risk to patient safety, and we urge the authorities to provide us with functional equipment.”
The hospital authorities have been reluctant to publicly address the issue, and Dr. Mutero Mupereki, the Gutu District Medical Officer, was unavailable for comment.
The donation of outdated equipment raises serious concerns about the prioritization of patient safety and the adequacy of resources in Zimbabwe’s healthcare system.
As it stands, Gutu Mission Hospital is left with a piece of equipment that may endanger patients’ lives rather than provide them with adequate care.
UNISA Denies Record of Walter Magaya’s Alleged Qualification – Legal Trouble Looms
January 28, 2025
By Dorrothy Moyo | ZimEye | The University of South Africa (UNISA) has officially denied any record of Walter Magaya as a student, despite his claim of possessing a diploma from the institution. The revelation raises serious legal implications, as Magaya had submitted the disputed qualification to the High Court of Zimbabwe to challenge his disqualification from the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) presidential race. Legal experts warn that this could expose him to charges of perjury and contempt of court, both of which carry severe criminal penalties in Zimbabwe.
UNISA Denies Magaya’s Credentials
In a letter addressed to journalist Maynard Kudakwashe Manyowa, UNISA responded to an inquiry regarding Magaya’s alleged qualification, stating:
“Based on the details you provided, our system could not trace either a student number or date of birth for Mr. Magaya. This effectively means that we do not have Mr. Magaya as a student of UNISA.”
This casts serious doubt on Magaya’s claim of holding a National Diploma in Marketing, which he submitted in court proceedings. His legal battle arose after he was barred from contesting the ZIFA presidency due to his failure to produce proof of having five O-Level passes, as required by the ZIFA electoral rules.
Potential Criminal Charges: Perjury & Contempt of Court
Magaya’s actions could now have criminal repercussions, as submitting a fraudulent document in a court of law is considered perjury, a serious offense under Zimbabwean law.
• Perjury (Section 183 of the Criminal Law Code in Zimbabwe)
• Definition: Making a false statement under oath or submitting a fraudulent document in court.
• Penalty: Up to 20 years in prison if found guilty.
• Fraud (Section 136 of the Criminal Law Code)
• Definition: Intentionally misrepresenting facts for personal gain.
• Penalty: Up to 35 years in prison, depending on the severity and financial impact.
• Contempt of Court (Common Law Offense)
• Definition: Willfully disobeying or misleading a court.
• Penalty: Unlimited fine or imprisonment at the judge’s discretion.
A legal expert, speaking anonymously, told reporters:
“If Magaya knowingly submitted a fake diploma, this is a clear case of perjury. Courts treat such offenses seriously, as they undermine the integrity of the justice system. He could be looking at a substantial prison sentence if convicted.”
High Court Rejected Magaya’s Appeal
Justice Tawanda Chitapi, who presided over the case, dismissed Magaya’s application to overturn his disqualification, emphasizing the legal requirement for candidates to present authentic educational credentials. The judge stated:
“A requirement to have five O’Levels must be met. Just for the avoidance of doubt, if one relies on a diploma, the issue is not that a diploma is higher than O’Level. The applicant would be required to produce an O’Level certificate even if he holds a PhD.”

Public Scrutiny and Growing Backlash
Social media has erupted with reactions, with many questioning the authenticity of Magaya’s diploma. Tech and education analyst Kudzai Mutisi was among the first to highlight discrepancies in the document’s formatting, suggesting that the certificate number and structure do not align with UNISA’s standard diploma format. He stated:
“This is not a National Diploma from UNISA… Folks shouldn’t do these embarrassing things. The numbers on the certificate HAVE MEANINGS!”
(Source: iharare.com)
What Happens Next?
With UNISA’s official response now public, authorities may launch a criminal investigation into the matter. If prosecutors determine that Magaya intentionally misrepresented his academic qualifications in court, he could face immediate arrest and formal criminal charges.
Additionally, UNISA’s statement may prompt further scrutiny into other qualifications Magaya has claimed in the past, potentially leading to a broader fraud investigation.
Developing Story
This is a developing story, and we will continue to provide updates as more information emerges.
Munacho Gwamanda- Self-proclaimed CCC interim secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu has intensified efforts to solidify his faction’s position within the fractured opposition party by announcing plans for an elective congress.
His ally, Mbuso Siso, confirmed that legal disputes with acting CCC leader Welshman Ncube had delayed progress but emphasised that groundwork was well underway. “We are mobilising across the country, with the latest meeting held in Masvingo over the weekend,” Siso said. “We aim to test our grassroots support and bring in fresh leadership. Congress dates will be finalised once the legal challenges are resolved.” Siso took a swipe at Ncube’s leadership, claiming it lacked popular support. “The MDC was founded in Matabeleland, and we cannot fail to produce a capable leader from the region. Welshman Ncube is clinging to 2019 structures invalidated by the court, while our CCC faction, established in 2022, operates as a separate entity,” he argued.
The faction is pushing for a Global Political Agreement (GPA), similar to the arrangement that led to Zimbabwe’s Government of National Unity in 2009, to address electoral reforms and political differences before the next elections.
“We need a GPA to ensure fair elections and resolve key political disagreements,” Siso said. Faction spokesperson Nqobizitha Mlilo added that restructuring efforts were already in motion to address weaknesses within the opposition. “Restructuring is ongoing, and it’s too early to speculate about leadership contests. Our immediate focus is on preparing for the congress,” Mlilo stated.
Tshabangu’s factional moves come against the backdrop of his controversial ties to Zanu PF, which critics argue have undermined the opposition’s credibility.
Known for his cordial relations with Zanu PF officials, Tshabangu has been accused of acting as a destabilising force within the CCC to weaken the opposition’s electoral chances.
Analysts say Tshabangu’s faction benefits from Zanu PF’s tacit support, evident in the state media’s favorable coverage of his activities.
This alliance has sparked accusations of betrayal within the opposition, with some members viewing Tshabangu’s actions as part of a broader strategy to fragment the CCC and tilt the political balance in Zanu PF’s favour.
By Munacho Gwamanda-Ministers pushing for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s continued stay in power were left humiliated on Monday as Vice President Constantino Chiwenga shot down their agenda during the burial of national hero Justin Mupamhanga at the National Heroes Acre.
Among those in attendance were Agriculture Minister Anxious Masuka, Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi, Information Minister Jenfan Muswere, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Tsitsi Gezi, and traditional leader Chief Negomo—all known Mnangagwa loyalists who have been vocal in advocating for the President’s unconstitutional extension beyond the two-term limit.
However, Chiwenga, who has been growing increasingly assertive in recent months, made it clear in his speech that any attempt to override the constitution would not be tolerated.
In what many interpreted as a direct rebuke to Mnangagwa’s inner circle, Chiwenga emphasized the importance of constitutionalism, reminding those present that Zimbabwe is for all democracy.
“We all swore to a shared future where everyone has a seat at the table, a culture of equal opportunity where every Zimbabwean serves equally,” Chiwenga declared. “But this culture of selfishness, greed, and corruption, where a few get rich through ill-gotten wealth, must end. Vision 2030 is for all Zimbabweans, not just for these so-called ‘mbingas’ — those we used to call ‘zvigananda’ during the war.”
Throughout Chiwenga’s speech, Mnangagwa’s ministers sat stone-faced, their body language betraying discomfort as their push for an unconstitutional extension was openly dismissed.
Observers noted that Ziyambi Ziyambi, who has been the legal architect behind Mnangagwa’s power consolidation efforts, appeared particularly uneasy.
Muswere, a key propagandist in state media narratives, was seen avoiding eye contact, while Chief Negomo, known for his dramatic public loyalty to Mnangagwa, kept his head down.
Chiwenga’s remarks are being interpreted as a clear warning that Mnangagwa’s faction should abandon any hopes of extending his presidency beyond his constitutional term limit.
With growing factionalism in Zanu PF, this latest development further fuels speculation that Chiwenga is positioning himself as the rightful successor to Mnangagwa.
Political analysts suggest that the military faction, which has historically backed Chiwenga, is growing impatient with Mnangagwa’s maneuvers to cling to power.
The burial of Justin Mupamhanga—himself a longtime operative in Zimbabwe’s security sector—provided the perfect stage for Chiwenga to reaffirm his authority before key party and military figures.
Despite the public humiliation, Mnangagwa’s loyalists have remained silent, with no official responses from the ministers present.
However, insiders indicate that there is growing panic within Mnangagwa’s camp following Chiwenga’s speech.
COMMENT | Farai D Hove | ZimEye | Kana Paine munhu azvipedza ega, ndiMnangagwa- if there’s anyone who has finished himself, it is Mnangagwa: The political dynamics in Zimbabwe’s capital city have reached a boiling point just 24 hours after an extraordinary display of public support for Vice President Constantino Chiwenga at the National Heroes Acre. The monumental gathering chanted a reimagined version of Nelson Chamisa’s popular campaign song, replacing Chamisa’s name with Chiwenga’s: “Siyanai naye Chiwenga, tiende mberi” (“Leave Chiwenga alone so that we can make progress”).
As Chiwenga entered the shrine in a display of unparalleled grandeur, reminiscent of a standing head of state, the crowd’s message was clear: leave Chiwenga alone. This chant, and the sheer size and emotion of the gathering, signaled a seismic shift in Zimbabwe’s power dynamics, casting long shadows over President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s position as the nation’s leader.
Emmerson Mnangagwa holed up in a hotel room a hours after 60 people had chanted him down at Glasgow , on 1 Nov 2021.
Anyone wishing to understand what has happened to Mnangagwa in the last 24 hours does not need an expert to diagnose. Everything is out there, and the last time a crowd (a very small one of less than 60 people) shouted similar chants against him, the voices were powerful enough to trap Mnangagwa inside a tiny hotel room and he had to telephone TV whistleblower Shepherd Yuda begging for permission to go over and drink beer with his supporters. Permission was denied. The LIVE video was broadcast by ZimEye during the Glasgow COP26 Climate Change Conference.
No bullet or military force is needed anymore and what MPs particularly ZANU PF legislators need to do is to lodge an updated complaint over Sengezo Tshabangu who the world’s oldest United Nations of all parliaments, IPU’s Human Rights Committee, has declared an imposter, to whistleblow that his boss is the-fake-1975-entrant-Emmerson Mnangagwa. This document once read out even as a mere complaint, is enough a broadcast to retire Mnangagwa officially, quietly.
De Facto Power Shift
While Mnangagwa remains the ceremonial president, the balance of real power has tilted toward Chiwenga. His growing influence is not merely a result of ambition but a culmination of fear and frustration brewing across the political spectrum. Chiwenga’s presence and his control over the military apparatus are sending ripples through Zimbabwean politics, reinforcing his position as the de facto center of authority.
Insiders and analysts alike point to a pattern: Chiwenga’s tenure as acting Commander-in-Chief during Mnangagwa’s temporary absence from common-man-realities has cemented his image as the true wielder of power. The public perception is that he embodies stability and strength, qualities many see as lacking in Mnangagwa’s leadership.
” How come the crowd seems to be made up of members of the armed forces only?,” asks Ed Shava.
The shift is underpinned by a broader fear strategy that has inadvertently united factions previously divided by ideological and personal differences. A general analysis is that that this unity is born out of a shared existential threat, as political actors feel expendable in the current environment. This dynamic is no longer just about loyalty or opposition; it is survival, and Chiwenga has become a symbol of resistance and strength in the face of growing instability.
The government’s crackdowns and tactics, which were initially intended to isolate and intimidate dissenters, have ironically led to an unintentional coalition of the fearful. Rivals who previously viewed one another as threats are now finding common ground, galvanized by their shared distrust of the Mnangagwa administration.
The National Heroes Acre ceremony was as much a political theater as it was a commemoration. Chiwenga’s majestic entry, coupled with the crowd’s emotional endorsement, effectively served as a coronation. The moment was symbolic: it communicated to all observers, both domestic and international, that Chiwenga is no longer merely a vice president but a political force to be reckoned with.
Observers have noted that the messaging from the crowd was strikingly intentional. By adapting a song associated with Chamisa, the opposition leader, the gathering signaled a strategic alignment. This wasn’t just about supporting Chiwenga; it was a repudiation of Mnangagwa and the status quo.
What This Means for Zimbabwe’s Future
The implications of this shift are profound. If the political establishment continues to perceive Chiwenga as the unifying force around whom both opposition and dissenters rally, Mnangagwa’s position could be further undermined. The ceremonial nature of his presidency may soon become untenable, paving the way for a full-blown political reconfiguration.
This unfolding situation also raises critical questions about Zimbabwe’s future governance. If Chiwenga assumes more power, will his leadership bring the progress that the crowds at Heroes Acre chanted for, or will it solidify military dominance over civilian politics?
For now, the narrative remains clear: fear has united the fragmented political landscape, and Chiwenga stands at its center. The next moves by both Chiwenga and Mnangagwa will define not only their political legacies but also the trajectory of Zimbabwe as it navigates this volatile chapter in its history.
The streets of the capital city are abuzz, and the signs of change are unmistakable. Zimbabwe’s political elite and ordinary citizens alike are bracing for the next act in this high-stakes power struggle. Whatever happens next, it is clear that Constantino Chiwenga has emerged as a central figure whose influence will shape the nation’s future.-ZimEye
Hiding in a hotel room, Emmerson Mnangagwa cows behind a camera hours after less than 60 protesters chanted him down in Glasgow 2021.
By Munacho Gwamanda- Acting President Constantino Chiwenga has launched a scathing attack on President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s loyalists, including politically connected businessmen accused of exploiting their ties to the presidency to amass wealth at the expense of the nation.
Speaking at the burial of Justin Mupamhanga at the National Heroes Acre on Monday, a visibly enraged Chiwenga lambasted what he called “zvigananda” (leeches) — individuals who have become synonymous with corruption and greed.
His fiery remarks were widely interpreted without naming names as a veiled swipe at flamboyant businessman Wicknell Chivhayo, whose controversial government contracts and ostentatious lifestyle have long sparked public outrage.
The term “mbingas” has come to symbolize individuals who flaunt wealth acquired through questionable means, often leveraging political connections.
Chivhayo, infamous for failed multi-million-dollar energy projects and his penchant for gifting luxury cars to politicians and celebrities, has become a poster child for this phenomenon.
His extravagant loyalty to Mnangagwa has only fueled speculation about the growing factionalism within Zanu PF.
Chiwenga’s denunciation of these figures marks a clear rebuke of the culture of patronage and excess that has deepened inequality in Zimbabwe.
His comments come amid whispers of intensifying rivalry between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga’s factions as Zanu PF manoeuvres for control ahead of the 2028 elections.
Critics suggest that Chiwenga’s remarks are not only a critique of corruption but also a strategic move to assert his authority as internal power struggles escalate.
The cartoon depicts a caricatured figure adorned with an assortment of lavish and extravagant items. The person wears a $45,000 jacket, a $47,000 chain, $10,000 wrist accessories, and $5,000 shoes, showcasing an ostentatious display of wealth.
In the background are two high-end luxury vehicles: a Rolls Royce Ghost priced at $700,000 and a Maybach valued at $300,000. Contrasting the high-cost items, the figure’s brain is humorously labeled as $0.00, suggesting a critique of misplaced priorities or an ironic commentary on materialism.
By Jonathan Chando | In 1976, we maintained the military code and upheld the Ten Commandments “Nzira dzemasoja.” We had a slogan which said “Pasi nezvigananda!” literally translated to “down with bourgeoisies.” We also maintained a code never to praise or worship a commander or leader through slogans like “pamberi nanhingi.” We were steadily prosecuting the war of liberation under the command of the military committee of ZIPA, a unified force of ZANLA and ZIPRA.
When the nationalists came and hijacked the liberation struggle in 1977, they banned the slogan “Pasi nezvigananda,” introduced the praise slogan “Pamberi na Cde Robert Mugabe,” and they trashed “Nzira dzemasoja.” The nationalists disbanded the unified force of ZIPRA and ZANLA and caused division between ZANU and ZAPU.
That was the beginning of a neocolonial puppet regime transformation disguised as independence, led by nationalists who had been turned by the Rhodesian Special Branch and the British MI6.
They arrested the members of the military committee and intended to assassinate them all, save for Samora Machel, who told them that no cdes would be killed on his territory for disagreeing with each other. These commanders were incarcerated until 1980. They wanted to execute them like Tongogara and others had done to the Nhari and Badza group!- ZimEye

Herbert Chitepo
This was after the Gweru Congress where Sithole was elected First Secretary of ZANU and he personally appointed Robert Mugabe his Secretary General.
From jail Ndabaningi Sithole asked Herbert Chitepo to lead the ZANLA WAR COUNCIL fron Zambia.
Mnangagwa is transfered to Khami Prison in 1965 at the request of Ken Flower, Ian Smith’s Chief Intelligence Officer, where he is not allowed to meet with others thrre like Mohadi because he was classified D Class. It has never been established what Flower’s motive for the transfer was.
This is where rumors of secret meetings with officers from Ken Flower’s Special Branch emanate from.
In 1972, Mnangagwa is transfered back to Salisbury where he hooks up with Mugabe, Tekere and others. Mugabe entices him to enrol for an LlB Degree with the University of London so they could study together. They did their essays together for the law degree, and Mnangagwa was released in November 1974 alongside Mugabe and Tekere but had to wait until late December for his deportation to Zambia since his lawyers were claiming he was Zambian to minimise chances of being re-arrested.
Sithole too was released in 1974 November, but Mugabe claimed he had sold out to Ken Flower and Ian Smith so his three friends in jail had ousted him and chosen Mugabe instead.
Chitepo argued three people were not a Congress so that wasn’t binding.
Mnangagwa frequented Josiah Tongogara’s house in Zambia but never visited Chitepo.
Mugabe then visited Mnangagwa in Mumbwa in Zambia in January 1975.
Mnangagwa by that time was completing his LLB with the Unoversity of Zambia ??.
A meeting between Mnangagwa, Mugabe and Tongogara happened but no details of the meeting were made public.
Mnangagwa then developed a romantic relationship with Tongogara’s sister Jayne, whom he then went on to marry.
On March 18 in 1975, Herbert Chitepo was assassinated through a bomb planted in his car, barely 3 months after his encounter with Mugabe.
Zambian police responded by rounding up Zanu leaders and Keneth Kaunda in particular fingered Tingogara.
Zanu then left Zambia to go and fight from newly independent Mozambique, and Kaunda told Samora Machel the guys were a bunch of murderers and should not be trusted. It took very long for Samora to trust Tongogara and Robert Mugabe.
Zanu claimed Kaunda had sold out through Detente with Vorster so they had to leave Zambia.
In April 1975, Robert Mugabe and Tekere fled to Mozambique and Mugabe was then made caretaker First Secretray.
Mnangagwa started working as a lawyer in 1975. He was persuaded to pay Tongogara a family visit in Maputo in 1976. He did come on holiday with his family, then Mugabe and Tongogara persuaded him to leave his job and join them. He went back to Zambia, and returned in 1977 to become Robert Mugabe’s personal assistant.
Rumors of him being a spy were spread, and the conspiracies pointing to Mugabe, Mnangagwa and Tongo as the people behind Chitepo’s assassination swelled.
By Farai D Hove | ZimEye | Harare, Zimbabwe — Leaked minutes from a recent Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting have revealed that President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s initiative to issue title deeds to beneficiaries of the land reform programme may have a deeper political agenda. While publicly presented as an economic empowerment programme, the leaked documents suggest that the move could be aimed at consolidating political power and advancing the ruling party’s interests ahead of the 2025 elections.
The state media recently reported that 2,500 title deeds will be issued by March 2025 as part of the government’s efforts to streamline land ownership and improve access to capital. However, the leaked minutes raise questions about the motivations behind this initiative, as they outline a strategy that intertwines economic reforms with political objectives.
Leaked Details
Key points from the leaked PCC minutes include:
1. Issuance of Title Deeds Nationwide: The minutes highlight plans for President Mnangagwa to extend the issuance of title deeds to both agricultural and urban land, with landowners required to pay between 2 and 8 cents per square meter. The payments would be spread over 20 years at an interest rate of 7.5%, raising concerns over the financial burden this could place on beneficiaries.
2. Focus on Underperforming Districts: Makonde district was flagged in the minutes for having the lowest registration figures in the province, with only 69,000 names submitted on cell registers, compared to over 100,000 in other districts. This has led to directives to improve registration efforts in areas deemed underperforming.
3. Party Discipline and Loyalty: The minutes emphasize the need for ZANU-PF members to remain disciplined and avoid engaging in anti-leadership discourse, particularly on social media, signaling a crackdown on internal dissent.
4. Presidential Term Extension: Perhaps the most controversial point in the minutes is the resolution to push for the extension of Mnangagwa’s presidential term to 2030. The document indicates that legal processes are being prepared to facilitate this extension, which would effectively delay leadership change for another five years.
Concerns Over Political Motives
The issuance of title deeds has been framed as a measure to secure property rights and enable beneficiaries to access financing for agricultural activities. However, the timing and structure of the programme have raised suspicions that it is designed to secure political loyalty by tying landowners to the government through long-term financial obligations.
The term extension resolution adds further weight to these concerns, with critics questioning whether the programme is being used to manipulate beneficiaries into supporting Mnangagwa’s continued leadership.
Implications for Zimbabwe
While the issuance of title deeds could address longstanding issues in land tenure and improve economic opportunities, the revelations in the leaked minutes suggest that the initiative may be serving dual purposes: addressing economic challenges while simultaneously advancing the political goals of the ruling party.
The government has not yet responded to the leaked minutes, but the revelations are likely to spark debate over the role of land reform in Zimbabwe’s political landscape. As the country approaches the 2025 elections, the intersection of land ownership and political power is once again under scrutiny, with significant implications for the nation’s future.-ZimEye

Tatenda Chinoda Dhege, a senior official in the office of Zanu PF National Party Chairperson Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, narrowly escaped death on Friday night after being involved in a horrific road accident.
Dhege, who serves as the party’s director at the headquarters in Harare, was driving a white Toyota Hilux Revo when the incident occurred.
According to sources within Zanu PF, Dhege was returning home from the Buhera office when the accident took place. He failed to stop at the T-junction where the road intersects with the Murambinda-Chivhu Highway. “He was supposed to turn right onto the highway towards Mashaka Village in Chief Nerutanga’s area, Buhera, but instead, he veered off the road and crashed into a tree,” a Zanu PF insider explained.
The vehicle rolled multiple times and eventually landed on its roof. The source further speculated, “It is suspected that the vehicle’s brakes failed, which may have contributed to the accident.” Fortunately, Dhege was not injured in the crash, although his car sustained severe damage.
No official comment could be obtained from the police.
Sengezo Tshabangu, the controversial Secretary of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), controversially skipped his own rally in Masvingo on Saturday.
Tshabangu, often seen as a figure with close ties to Zanu PF, failed to attend the event at Mucheke Hall in Masvingo Urban, reportedly due to a disappointing turnout.
“His aides advised him against attending after assessing the situation,” said a source familiar with the matter. “This was supposed to be Tshabangu’s first provincial rally after he allegedly took over the CCC party with the help of Zanu PF.”
The rally, which was meant to galvanize support in Masvingo, a region considered to be a stronghold of CCC leader Nelson Chamisa, was left in disarray after Tshabangu’s sudden change of plans. “Masvingo is highly disappointed by Tshabangu’s failure to attend the provincial rally,” a local observer commented. “He knew that Masvingo is Chamisa’s stronghold but cancelled his visit at the last minute. I am angry.”
The event, described as poorly organized, saw a mere 10 members of parliament and senators in attendance. Key figures included Chief Whip Nonhlanhla Mlotshwa, Chief Whip of the National Assembly Charles Moyo, Senators Linda Sibanda, Bvumo, Phulu, and Maxwell Mdluri. However, the absence of Masvingo’s councillors, mayors, MPs, senators, and provincial council members was a stark sign of discontent within the party.
The lack of support from prominent local officials and the absence of Tshabangu himself has sent a clear message of dissatisfaction among CCC members in the province.
Zanu PF social media activist Cleopas H Mukungunugwa stirred controversy on Sunday by claiming that popular musician Winky D is harbouring bitterness because he hasn’t received a car from controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo.
In a post on social media, Mukungunugwa pointed to Winky D’s alleged resentment, stating, “Winky D is simply bitter because Sir Wicknell Chivayo @wicknellchivayo has never given him a cent or a car.” Mukungunugwa went on to suggest that the artist had relied on donations from the US Embassy, claiming, “He used to survive on the ‘dirty coins’ from the US Embassy until Donald Trump wisely halted the aid.”
Mukungunugwa continued by urging Winky D to stay away from politics, adding, “Winky D should stay away from politics.”
The social media activist also took aim at the musician’s fashion choices, quipping, “Apa Akapfeka Mucheka WeMaCurtain zvake?”—a derogatory comment aimed at the artist’s style.
Winky D, known for his outspoken views, has often found himself at odds with the government, making him a target of Zanu PF supporters like Mukungunugwa.
While Mukungunugwa’s remarks were aimed at discrediting Winky D, it remains to be seen how the musician will respond to these accusations and whether they will spark further political tensions.

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has strongly condemned the recent attack on peacekeeping soldiers in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) by M23 rebels. In a statement released on Saturday, the SADC Secretariat denounced the attacks, emphasizing that they undermine the sovereignty, territorial integrity, peace, and security of the DRC and the SADC region ¹.
The M23 rebel group’s pursuit of territorial expansion has exacerbated the already dire humanitarian and security situation in Eastern DRC, leaving thousands dead and millions displaced, particularly women, children, and the elderly. The recent attack in the Eastern city of Goma resulted in the tragic loss of at least 13 foreign peacekeepers ¹.
SADC has extended its heartfelt condolences to the families and countries of the deceased. The organization’s mission in the DRC, SAMIDRC, remains committed to supporting efforts to address the prevailing security and humanitarian crisis in Eastern DRC.

By A Correspondent| Opposition FORUS party leader Irene Muyenziwa has called on Zimbabweans to defend constitutionalism and reject political maneuvers that undermine democracy.
In a statement, Muyenziwa urged citizens to demand accountability and adherence to the rule of law as a nation.
“Zimbabwe’s constitution is the foundation of our democracy, and it must be respected,” she declared. Any attempt to sidestep its provisions risks destabilizing the country and eroding the trust of the people in their leaders,” she said
Muyenziwa’s remarks were particularly pointed as she criticized the controversial “ED 2030 push,” a move by factions supporting President Mnangagwa to extend his tenure beyond constitutional limits.
She warned that such actions could trigger a constitutional crisis and urged the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to intervene where necessary to ensure Zimbabwe remains on a democratic path.
In addition to her domestic advocacy, Muyenziwa is strengthening Zimbabwe’s ties with regional leaders.
Her recent engagement with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum highlighted her focus on fostering regional cooperation.
“Our challenges are not isolated. Zimbabwe is part of a greater African family, and together, we can forge a path that benefits all our people,” she said
By Munacho Gwamanda- Acting President Constantino Chiwenga has issued a scathing warning to corrupt Zanu PF-linked elites.
Speaking at the burial of Justin Mupamhanga at the National Heroes Acre on Monday, Chiwenga, visibly irate, denounced politically connected businessmen, whom he labelled “zvigananda” (leeches).
His remarks were widely interpreted without naming anyone as a direct attack on flamboyant businessman Wicknell Chivhayo, infamous for his controversial government tenders and ostentatious lifestyle.
Chiwenga lashed out at the so-called “mbingas” — individuals who have become symbols of corruption and greed in Zimbabwe. He said: “We all swore to a shared future in which everyone had a place on the table, a place in the sun, for a culture of equal opportunity where every Zimbabwean served in equal measure. Zveubvanzu ubvanzu kudya kwemhumi takazviramba. Our Vision 2030 is for all of us, kwete dzamunoti mbinga, kuhondo taizviti zvigananda, those who grow big tummies through ill-gotten wealth and questionable morals.”
The term “mbingas” has become synonymous with individuals who exploit public resources to amass wealth, often flaunting their riches through luxury cars, opulent lifestyles, and political patronage.
Chivhayo, a self-styled tycoon with a penchant for gifting high-end vehicles to celebrities and politicians, has long been a controversial figure.
His involvement in questionable energy projects, including a multi-million-dollar solar tender that failed to materialize, has drawn public outrage.
Chivhayo’s allegiance to President Mnangagwa and his extravagant displays of loyalty have added to his notoriety, especially amid whispers of deep-seated divisions within Zanu PF.
The call to dismantle the culture of “mbingas” is long overdue as the country continues to grapple with economic collapse and widening inequality.
Critics suggest Chiwenga’s remarks may reflect simmering tensions between Mnangagwa’s camp and his own faction as the party wrestles with internal power struggles ahead of the 2028 elections.

By A Correspondent| Spitzkop Farm Residents Association has trashed the demand by the alleged land owner Diana Catherine Rodrigues, a British citizen that she is in the process of recovering her former land as she has lost court battles twice and that the Association has moved on.
Spitzkop Farm Residents Association has won two court court applications brought by Rodrigues who claimed ownership of the land and lost.
Rodrigues in the first court application had asked the court for an order stopping the development of the farm as residential stands and they lost in the High Court case number 3862/20.
The alleged land owner also tried to place a caveat on the property on High Court case number 3671/24 and lost again.
Rodrigues was then ordered to pay costs in both matters, which is remaining outstanding and the costs have been taxed in excess of US$7000.
The association said Rodrigues has no physical address resulting in the association failing to execute against the court orders.
According to the Association in responding to Rodrigues application to repossess the land they submitted that the land was procedurally acquired as a Derelict land in terms of the laws of the land and cannot be reversed.
The Spitzkop Farm Residents Association said they placed the adverts in local newspapers for the whole month in November 2020 to give notice to any person having or pretending to have any rights of the land but none responded.
The Spitzkop Farm Residents Association were given title deeds of the land after all processes were followed and no one challenged it after placing adverts in the paper.
The Association also challenged the alleged Farm owner’s court application of citing a dead person Urebai Rodrigues saying doing that showed incompetent of their application since they did not cite the executor of his estate.
“It can be noted and, is without a doubt common cause that they are other partics herein that ought to have been included In particular, as can be gleaned from the urgent chamber filed under HCH3834 24, there are two developers at the property one of which actually has a subsequent title thereto.
“The application, without inclusion of the said individuals is unproper and cannot be allowed to proceed. It should, accordingly, be struck off from consideration,” they submitted.
Meanwhile, the Association through its Chairperson Artmore Chinoyevedza maintains that Rodrigues, who has failed to appear in person or engage meaningfully in any meetings, is a “non-existent” entity.
A case of possible impersonation is currently under investigation by the police under RRB 6020376, raising further questions about the legitimacy of her claims.
The Spitzkop Residents Association asserts that all legal procedures were meticulously followed to secure tenure and advertisements were placed twice in national newspapers, and thorough due diligence was conducted, including collaboration with the all-relevant administrative authorities.
They submitted that under section 13 of the Titles Registration and Derelict Lands Act, once title is granted, it is irreversible by law, guaranteeing secure ownership for the Association.
According to Chinoyevedza, “the Association’s work had aligned with the government’s land reform policy, which prioritizes equitable land distribution and the empowerment of marginalized communities.
They submitted that by rehabilitating the land from the damage caused by sand barons and bringing critical amenities to the community, the Association, through a consortium of developers and investors turned the property into a thriving properly planned and serviced residential area.
The Association added that their legal victories reaffirm their rightful ownership and highlight the significant role of land reform in building a better future for all Zimbabweans.
By Munacho Gwamanda-11, members of the Johanne Masowe church were hit by a Honda Fit on Sunday while returning from a night prayer.
The Honda Fit driver lost control of his vehicle and ploughed into the 11 who were returning from night prayers in Nketa, Bulawayo.
One of the victims died on the spot after being trapped underneath the vehicle and had to be extricated by members of the Bulawayo Fire Brigade, who arrived at the scene shortly after the tragic incident near Chicken Corner leisure outlet, between Nketa Drive and Masiyephambili Drive.
“Upon arrival, the Brigade found 11 people lying on the ground, some with fractures, spine injuries, and lacerations. A Honda Fit was found in a ditch with one person trapped underneath, who was suspected to be dead on arrival. The Brigade extricated the trapped victim and conveyed the injured individuals to Mpilo Hospital,” said Bulawayo Chief Fire Officer Mr Mhlangano Moyo.
He said that preliminary details indicated that the driver had lost control of the vehicle.
“The information we gathered is that the Honda Fit driver lost control and ploughed into a group of Johanne Masowe Church members who were returning from night prayers.
The deceased was handed over to ZRP details. The vehicle and the roadway were rendered safe by the Brigade,” said Mr Moyo. -State Media
Vice President Constantino Chiwenga publicly criticized businessman Wicknell Chivayo during a speech at the burial of Justin Mupamhanga at the National Heroes Acre on Monday, accusing him of indulging in corruption and unethical behavior.
Chiwenga contrasted Chivayo’s actions with the ideals of the liberation struggle, stating that unlike the principled combatants of that era, Chivayo’s pursuit of wealth through questionable means is deeply troubling.
“Our vision for 2030 is for all of us, not for those who grow fat through ill-gotten wealth and dubious morals,” Chiwenga remarked, referencing those who enrich themselves at the expense of others. “A nation is as developed as its weakest citizen, and as its remotest area,” he continued, emphasizing the need for inclusivity and equity in national development.
Chiwenga assured the public that the government is aware of ongoing challenges faced by citizens, including unreliable public transport, an unregulated informal market, and issues in healthcare and infrastructure. He reaffirmed that efforts are being made to address these problems.
Additionally, Chiwenga touched on the importance of succession in leadership, underscoring the values of mutual respect, equity, and equality as fundamental principles for effective governance.
“The gold, the diamonds, the platinum, the sought-after lithium, uranium, gas, oil, and rare earth minerals—all of which foreigners never fully enjoyed before our time—must now be shared fairly for the development of Zimbabwe,” Chiwenga concluded, reinforcing the need for resource distribution to benefit the nation’s people.
Zanu PF official Killer Zivhu has boldly claimed that President Emmerson Mnangagwa will rule Zimbabwe for 29 years, defying expectations that his current term will end in 2028.
Despite the constitutional limit on Mnangagwa’s tenure, hardliners within the ruling party are pushing for the postponement of elections, allowing the veteran leader to extend his time in power. Zivhu, a prominent Zanu PF figure, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday to make his prediction.
“I’ve backed ED [Emmerson Mnangagwa] since day one, envisioning a 20-year leadership,” Zivhu said in his post. “While others sought his removal, we worked tirelessly behind the scenes. Mark my words, ED will lead for 29 years. This isn’t bootlicking. It’s reality.”
Zivhu’s comments come amid rising speculation about the future of Zimbabwe’s leadership. Many within Zanu PF, especially the party’s hardline factions, see Mnangagwa as a long-term leader and are advocating for measures that would ensure his continued reign beyond 2028.
His assertion that Mnangagwa will stay in power for nearly three decades has sparked debate, with some supporters welcoming the idea, while critics see it as an undemocratic push to maintain control over the country.
Sengezo Tshabangu, the controversial Secretary of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), faced a setback at his rally over the weekend, as the event turned into a spectacle of free beer and chaos rather than political discourse.
The rally, held at Mucheke Stadium, saw a crowd primarily made up of Zanu PF youths who seemed more interested in the free alcohol than the political messages being shared. “We came to eat and drink alcohol,” admitted one well-known Zanu PF member, who attended the event but showed little enthusiasm for Tshabangu’s speech.
Despite efforts to bus in Zanu PF supporters, the rally failed to attract genuine interest, leaving many observers to describe the event as a “farce.” The crowd’s focus remained squarely on the refreshments rather than the content of the rally, leaving Tshabangu’s political aspirations in question.
The event also highlighted shifting political dynamics in the Masvingo region. Many local political figures, including councillors, Members of Parliament, and provincial council members, have distanced themselves from Tshabangu, signaling a growing disillusionment with the CCC’s influence in the area.
One local councillor noted, “Tshabangu’s presence here is more of a curiosity than anything else. The real loyalty is still with President Chamisa.”
The lukewarm reception to Tshabangu’s rally reflects the challenges he faces as he tries to gain a foothold in Masvingo, where support for CCC remains uncertain. The rally’s failure has left many questioning whether Tshabangu can rebuild trust and credibility in the region.
As loyalty to Nelson Chamisa remains strong, it’s unclear how Tshabangu will navigate these political hurdles moving forward.
However, the absence of Masvingo’s councillors, mayors, MPs, senators, and provincial council members was a stark sign of discontent within the party.
The lack of support from prominent local officials and the absence of Tshabangu himself has sent a clear message of dissatisfaction among CCC members in the province.
By Munacho Gwamanda-Another bridge constructed under the Emmerson Mnangagwa regime has collapsed, raising fresh concerns about corruption and the poor quality of government-funded infrastructure projects.
The Sesame Bridge in Gokwe South District, Midlands Province, rebuilt by the Ministry of Transport after being destroyed by heavy rains in December 2023, has once again succumbed to rainfall.
Gokwe South Rural District Council (RDC) CEO, Jabulani Gute, confirmed the collapse on Monday, attributing it to the absence of crucial structural reinforcements.
“The bridge was weak because it didn’t have gabions,” Gute told The Mirror. Gabions are containers filled with rocks, concrete, or other materials used to stabilise and reinforce structures against erosion.
Gute added that the heavy rains also partially damaged the Manhede Bridge in Mapfungautsi Constituency, although it remains usable. “We have recorded some rainfall-related challenges in our area. Sesame Bridge was washed away again due to the heavy rains and the failure to include gabions in its construction,” he explained.
He emphasised that repairing the bridge during the rainy season is impossible due to high water levels. “We’ve temporarily closed the bridge until the rainy season ends. At that point, we can properly assess the damage and prepare the bill of quantities (BOQs) needed for repairs.”
The collapse of Sesame Bridge is not an isolated incident.
Several bridges and roads built under Mnangagwa’s administration have failed, sparking public outrage.
Observers point to corruption as the root cause, with government tenders allegedly awarded to unqualified contractors who deliver substandard work.
In recent years, reports have surfaced of contractors cutting corners and misappropriating funds meant for infrastructure development.
This trend has left communities vulnerable, as poorly built roads and bridges fail to withstand seasonal rains.
Critics have also accused the Mnangagwa government of prioritising political patronage over public safety.
While millions of dollars are allocated to infrastructure projects, the lack of oversight and quality control has made such investments a glaring example of inefficiency and waste.
By Business Reporter-Zimbabwe’s retail sector is on the brink of collapse as major chains and outlets struggle to stay afloat in an increasingly hostile economic environment.
The latest casualty is N Richards, which recently closed its Hatcliffe and Tynwald outlets, signalling deeper cracks in the formal retail sector.
These closures come amid a worsening currency crisis, leaving many retailers unable to restock shelves or keep their doors open.
Established brands like OK Zimbabwe are reportedly grappling with restocking challenges as the Zimbabwean dollar (ZWL) continues to lose value against the US dollar.
The Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) has raised alarm over the sector’s viability, blaming the dual currency system for forcing retailers to accept ZiG payments while sourcing supplies in US dollars.
The crisis has not spared major players:
Spar Zimbabwe recently shuttered its Queensdale branch.
Choppies Zimbabwe exited the market entirely.
Mahommed Mussa reduced its retail space by 60%.
In a statement, CZR lamented the ongoing closures, warning of dire consequences for the formal economy:
“The continued collapse of formal retail and wholesale businesses underscores the crisis. The fiscal, monetary, regulatory, and statutory frameworks have created an uneven playing field. While formal businesses crumble, the informal sector thrives unchecked, eroding market share.”
Zimbabwe’s formal retail sector is also struggling to compete with the unregulated informal market, which benefits from tax evasion, lower operational costs, and non-compliance with labor laws.
This wave of closures harks back to the 2008 hyperinflation crisis, when the Zimbabwean dollar collapsed and businesses shut down en masse.
Today, skyrocketing operational costs and dwindling consumer purchasing power are pushing the formal sector closer to the edge.
The CZR has called on President Emmerson Mnangagwa to urgently stabilize the economy and protect the formal sector from further collapse.
Without decisive intervention, Zimbabwe risks a repeat of its economic nightmare, leaving formal retailers in the dust while the informal market thrives unchecked.
The closure of N Richards’ two outlets is yet another grim reminder of the worsening economic turmoil and the uncertain future of formal businesses in the country.
By Munacho Gwamanda-Acting President Constantino Chiwenga has presided over an unusual and grim series of state burials in one week, raising eyebrows about the increasing number of high-profile deaths linked to the post-2017 coup power structure.
Last Wednesday, Chiwenga supervised a triple burial at the National Heroes Acre, laying to rest John Bvundura, Chen Chimutengwende, and Retired Major General Solomon Siziba.
Today, he returns to the revered site to bury yet another “national hero,” Justin Mupamhanga, who passed away last Wednesday.
Since the 2017 coup that catapulted Mnangagwa to power, Chiwenga’s allies have been plagued by an unsettling series of deaths, leaving political analysts and the public questioning whether this pattern is coincidental or a reflection of Zimbabwe’s murky political waters.
Notably, the following figures have succumbed under mysterious or sudden circumstances: Perrance Shiri, the former Air Force Commander and Minister of Agriculture, a close military ally of Chiwenga during the coup, died reportedly of COVID-19, although rumours of foul play circulated widely. Sibusiso Moyo, Zimbabwe’s Foreign Affairs Minister, known for announcing the coup in 2017, died of COVID-19 complications, sparking speculation about political motives. Joel Biggie Matiza, the Transport Minister and another staunch ally of Chiwenga also succumbed during a COVID-19 surge, though the timing of these deaths raised eyebrows. General Amoth Chingombe – A close collaborator of Chiwenga during the 1992 drought relief operations, his demise added to the growing list of fallen comrades. Douglas Nyikayaramba– The retired Major General and a confidant of Chiwenga, also passed away under suspicious circumstances.
Mupamhanga’s death adds another layer to this narrative.
A war veteran who joined the liberation struggle in 1975, he became a key figure in Zimbabwe’s intelligence and economic strategy.
As Deputy Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Mupamhanga played a pivotal role in monitoring government programs, particularly during crises like the 1992 drought and the early 2000s food shortages.
Mupamhanga’s retirement in 2019, orchestrated by Mnangagwa, marked his quiet exit from public service after years of significant contributions to Zimbabwe’s governance.
While state funerals are common for those declared national heroes, the frequency of these burials under Chiwenga’swatch—and the mysterious patterns surrounding his inner circle—paint a somber picture.
Questions linger about the extent of political rivalries and whether these deaths signal deeper fissures within the ruling Zanu PF.
By Munacho Gwamanda- The Higher Education Ministry has said it recorded a 67% pass rate in the October/November 2024 National Foundation Certificate (NFC) to Higher National Diploma (HND) examinations.
The Higher Education Examinations Council (HEXCO) conducts the college exams.
The results were announced last Friday, and HEXCO centres were advised to start collecting results from their respective regions on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.
On Friday, Professor Fanuel Tagwira, Permanent Secretary for Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, said 67 per cent of students succeeded.
In the November/December 2023 exams, HEXCO recorded a 68 per cent pass rate, marking a major improvement from the 60 per cent pass rate achieved in 2022. Tagwira thanked all stakeholders involved in the examination process for contributing to the high pass rate.
By Business Reporter- One of the country’s largest retailers, N Richards, has closed its Hatcliffe and Tynwald outlets, signalling deeper cracks in the formal retail sector as businesses buckle under economic strain.
The closures come on the heels of widespread challenges facing formal retailers.
Major chains, including OK Zimbabwe, are reportedly facing difficulties in restocking due to the ZIG crisis.
The Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) has also sounded the alarm on the viability of formal retail shops.
The country’s formal retail sector has struggled to compete with the unregulated informal market, which dominates by avoiding taxes, licensing fees, and compliance with labour laws.
CZR attributes the closures to the dual currency system, forcing retailers to accept ZWL while operating in a dollarized supply chain.
The economic turbulence has not spared big names:
Spar Zimbabwe recently shuttered its Queensdale branch.
Choppies Zimbabwe exited the market altogether.
Mahommed Mussa reduced its shop space by 60%.
In a statement, CZR expressed grave concern over the closures, highlighting the severe consequences of an unforgiving economic environment:
“The continued closure of formal retail and wholesale businesses underscores the crisis. The fiscal, monetary, regulatory, and statutory frameworks have created an uneven playing field. While formal businesses crumble, the informal sector thrives unchecked, eroding market share.”
CZR has called on President Emmerson Mnangagwa to address these challenges and stabilize the sector urgently.
The closures evoke memories of the 2008 hyperinflation crisis when businesses shut down en masse due to the collapse of the Zimbabwean dollar.
With skyrocketing operational costs and dwindling consumer purchasing power, Zimbabwe risks repeating history if urgent measures are not taken to protect the formal economy.
N Richards’ decision to close two outlets adds to a growing list of casualties in the country’s retail sector, reflecting the worsening state of the economy and raising questions about the future of formal businesses in the country.
Seh Calaz has publicly called for a clash with Winky D.
In a statement over the weekend, Seh Calaz wrote: “Winky D DiBigman, good show mumusha maMambo yesterday ??. I challenge you to a clash anytime, anywhere. If you’re afraid of a clash, we can do a show with different sets and let the audience decide. If you win, I’ll know you’re still Bigman, as you were before. The proceeds should go to charity—helping the less fortunate, including the blind, the disabled, street kids, and all those suffering.
Remember back when Daddy D, Badman, and Sniper gave you your first clashes? You were just starting out, but now it’s your time. Let’s face off on stage and let the people decide.
Winky D has been avoiding diss tracks for years, but at least Mambo gave him a chance to respond quickly. Now let’s throw another track into the speakers and see what happens!
To Mbare, the bands, and the people of Zimbabwe—thank you for showing the world that we’re not violent. Some tried to paint us as troublemakers, but Mbare proved that we are free and peaceful. And to those who have been critical, including those who have been handed cars by Sir Wicknell, it’s all rooted in jealousy and bad mind. If it were Mapfumo, I would understand, but Sir Wicknell? Keep doing your thing!
As for the complaints about being sabotaged or excluded from shows—let me remind you. For 12 years, I’ve been blocked from over 50 shows, and that’s just the beginning of the story. Yet, we keep pushing through. You all talk about how we should behave, but who are you to decide what’s good for us?
The SWAN show was proof that we are not trying to tear anyone down. If Winky D is on the poster, they’ll remove me, and that’s how toxic things have become. It’s clear that there are forces at play that want to stop us from succeeding.
But the truth is, even the organizers of Swan Show—who came to introduce Fodya at Mbare, our home ground—felt threatened. They were afraid to face the reality of the situation, but that’s the nature of business. People with money don’t have the time to listen to their fans and supporters. It’s a harsh world.
Thank you for reading, Bhangwela Famous Paragraph!!! Yes, you’ve read it all .
For all the real entertainment and Dancehall music lovers!!!”
A devastating gas explosion in Rujeko, Masvingo, resulted in the tragic death of a 14-year-old Form 1 pupil.
The incident occurred last night, leaving a family in mourning.
According to authorities, the explosion was caused by a cooking gas leak. “The blast was so intense that it left a trail of destruction in its wake,” said a police source.
The victim’s mother, a municipal officer, is currently receiving treatment in hospital. “She’s fighting for her life, and we’re praying for her recovery,” added the source.
In a critical condition, the victim’s aunt has been transferred to a hospital in Bulawayo for further treatment. “We’re shocked and saddened by this tragic loss of life,” said a neighbour. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.”
A stern warning has been issued by Taurai Kandishaya, a Zanu PF youth league official, to church leaders who spoke out against President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s bid for a third term in office. This comes after a group of church leaders released a joint statement urging President Mnangagwa to respect the country’s constitution and refrain from extending his rule beyond 2028.
Kandishaya’s response, posted on Facebook, cautioned church leaders not to interfere, stating that they must understand their boundaries. His message was widely interpreted as a direct threat to those opposing the President’s third-term bid.
This warning has sparked significant controversy, with critics arguing that it reflects the increasing political pressure on religious organizations in Zimbabwe. The church’s involvement in politics has long been a sensitive issue, with many fearing government intimidation to silence opposition.
As the debate surrounding Mnangagwa’s future grows, Kandishaya’s statement signals escalating tensions between the ruling party and those holding it accountable to the constitution.
