King Munhumutapa Freed After One Month In Jail

By A Correspondent| The High court has set free Timothy Chiminya, a traditional leader, who had spent more than one month in prison after he was arrested and charged for allegedly undermining authority of or insulting President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Chiminya, who was arrested by some Zimbabwe Republic Police officers on 16 December 2024 and charged with undermining authority of or insulting the president as defined in section 33(2)(a)(ii), had languished in prison after he was denied bail on Wednesday 8 January 2025 by Harare Magistrate Sheunesu Matova, who ruled that he is a security threat and did not deserve to be released from prison as he had dethroned some traditional leaders, who were installed by President Mnangagwa and that some subjects of the Chiefs, who were removed, were bound to “fight” the Chiefs, whom he had installed.

This compelled Chiminya’s lawyer Gift Mtisi of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, to file an appeal against Magistrate Matova’s decision at Harare High Court on Tuesday 7 January 2025, seeking his release from detention on bail.

On Friday 31 January 2025, High Court Judge Justice Faith Mushure upheld Chiminya’s appeal and set aside Magistrate Matova’s decision denying the traditional leader bail.

In granting bail to Chiminya, Justice Mushure ordered him to pay US$200 or its ZiG equivalent as bail surety and restricted him to a 25 kilometre travel radius from Harare Central Police Station until his matter is finalised.

The Judge also ordered Chiminya to report twice every week on Mondays and Fridays at Harare Central Police Station until his matter is finalised including surrendering his passport with the Clerk of Court at Harare Magistrates Court.

The traditional leader was also ordered not to interfere with state witnesses or investigations and to continue residing at his given residential address until his matter gets finalised.

Chiminya returns to court on 5 March 2025.

Joy For Zvigananda As Chiwenga Hands Over Power Back To Mnangagwa

By Munacho Gwamanda-Vice President Constantino Chiwenga officially returned to his position as the country’s second-in-command on Wednesday following the return of President Emmerson Mnangagwa from his month-long leave.

Chiwenga had been serving as Acting President for the past 10 days, having taken over from his co-deputy, Kembo Mohadi, who held the role for 19 days.

Chiwenga’s brief tenure as Acting President reignited long-standing tensions within Zanu PF, particularly between himself and Mnangagwa’s loyalists.

Over the years, the rivalry between the two has deepened, dating back to the 2017 coup that ousted Robert Mugabe.

While the military played a pivotal role in installing Mnangagwa as President, Chiwenga, then the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) commander, was widely perceived as the real architect of the power shift.

Since then, factional battles within Zanu PF have intensified, with Chiwenga’s camp angling for succession in 2028 when Mnangagwa is expected to step down.

During his recent stint at the helm, Chiwenga did not shy away from flexing his political muscle, issuing thinly veiled threats to Mnangagwa’s inner circle.

Addressing his supporters, he warned Mnangagwa’s loyalists, whom he derisively referred to as Zvigananda (bootlickers), that their time was running out.

He further suggested that some of them could face jail time when he ascends to the presidency in 2028.

This bold declaration sent shockwaves through Mnangagwa’s camp, as it was perceived as a direct challenge to the sitting President’s authority.

Despite the evident friction, Presidential spokesperson George Charamba downplayed any tensions upon Mnangagwa’s return.

In his statement, Charamba avoided addressing the political undercurrents, focusing instead on economic matters.

“The President is now officially back from his leave, and as you may know, there have been certain economic developments in the past few weeks. Remember, he had to break his leave last week to chair a meeting that focused on economic developments in the country. His major focus will now be on the economy, and some major decisions will be made in that regard,” Charamba stated.

Mnangagwa’s return also coincides with his upcoming diplomatic engagements.

He is set to lead a Southern African Development Community (SADC) delegation to Tanzania later this week for an extraordinary joint meeting with the East African Community (EAC) to discuss the security situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

While these international responsibilities take precedence, analysts argue that Mnangagwa will also have to turn his attention to the growing rift with Chiwenga and the internal power struggles that could shape Zimbabwe’s political future.

Another ZIMRA Officer Nabbed Over Fraud

By A Correspondent

A Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) officer stationed at the Victoria Falls border post, Jean Felix Kudaro, has appeared in court on charges of criminal abuse of office. This follows the arrest of two other ZIMRA officers over the weekend, also facing similar allegations.

Kudaro, a customs officer at the border post, is accused of unlawfully facilitating the importation of 10 motor vehicles older than 10 years, in contravention of Statutory Instrument 54 of 2024. The alleged offenses took place between January and December 2024.

According to the prosecution, Kudaro received both electronic and manual documents from clients and is said to have completed the vehicle valuation process, altering the chassis numbers to deceive his supervisor during the vehicle age verification process. The falsified documents were reportedly submitted for approval, and once approved, Kudaro entered the correct chassis numbers into the ASYCUDA World System.

It is further alleged that Kudaro manipulated physical valuation sheets and replaced the original documents with accurate details before final processing. Additionally, he allegedly released the vehicles without properly recording them in the release register or ensuring their registration, as required by station standing instructions.

The scheme was exposed when a vehicle that had not yet physically arrived in Zimbabwe was discovered to have already been registered.

Kudaro has been denied bail and is set to return to court on February 17th for the continuation of his trial.

In related developments, two other ZIMRA officers, Philip Kuvenga and Rangariraishe Zingwe, also facing similar charges, have been denied bail.

Dangers Of Over-reliance On Bookish Economic Theories

PRESS STATEMENT: THE DANGERS OF OVER-RELIANCE ON BOOKISH ECONOMIC THEORIES AND BRETTON WOODS INSTITUTIONS – A CALL FOR PAN-AFRIKAN ECONOMIC SOVEREIGNTY
Date: 4 February 2025

The recent economic turmoil in Zimbabwe, marked by the closure of five OK Zimbabwe branches and the retrenchment of 347 CBZ Holdings employees, is a clear indication that our economy is bleeding. The continued job losses and business closures are a direct result of economic policies that prioritize the satisfaction of foreign institutions over the real needs of Zimbabweans.

Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube’s obsession with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank is misguided and detrimental to our economic sovereignty. The Bretton Woods institutions have never been the saviors of Afrika; instead, they have systematically trapped us in a cycle of debt, structural adjustment programs (SAPs), and economic stagnation. Their so-called “solutions” have never worked for Afrika, and they never will because their interests are not aligned with ours.

A Pan-Afrikan Call for Economic Independence

Afrika’s liberation struggle was never just about political independence—it was about total economic emancipation. The same revolutionary spirit that drove the land reform program in Zimbabwe must now be applied to economic governance. Just as we reclaimed our land from settler-colonialists, we must now reclaim our economy from foreign manipulation and neo-colonial control.

For decades, Afrika has been subjected to economic theories that do not take into account the realities of our societies. We have been told to liberalize markets, privatize state assets, and peg our currencies to foreign benchmarks—all while our industries collapse, our youth remain unemployed, and our natural resources are looted by foreign corporations.

It is time to reject these bookish economic theories that serve the interests of global capital while destroying our local economies. We need to shift towards organic, homegrown economic solutions that empower the people, build strong industries, and create sustainable wealth.

A New Economic Path for Zimbabwe and Afrika

Instead of wasting time in endless IMF meetings, Mthuli Ncube should be meeting with local business leaders, industrialists, trade unions, and economic thinkers who understand Zimbabwe’s realities. Our solutions must be centered on:

  1. Currency Stability & Economic Sovereignty
We must strengthen our own currency through strategic economic planning instead of relying on IMF-driven monetary policies that only serve to weaken us.
  2. Industrialization & Value Addition
Zimbabwe and Afrika must move away from being mere exporters of raw materials and invest in industries that process our resources locally. This will create jobs and boost our economies.
  3. Empowerment of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Local businesses need access to capital, tax incentives, and protection from unfair competition. SMEs are the backbone of any economy and must be prioritized over foreign interests.
  4. Labour Protection & Job Creation
Policies must be put in place to prevent mass retrenchments and ensure that Zimbabwean workers have job security and sustainable livelihoods.
  5. Afrikan Financial Independence
Afrika must develop its own financial institutions that serve the interests of Afrikans, rather than relying on Bretton Woods institutions that keep us in perpetual economic slavery.

Conclusion

We can no longer afford to be dictated to by institutions whose sole purpose is to maintain the economic subjugation of Afrika. Just as we fought for our land, we must now fight for our economic independence. It is time for Zimbabwe and Afrika to chart their own economic destiny, free from the shackles of neo-colonialism and predatory capitalism.

We call upon the government of Zimbabwe to prioritize the needs of its people over the demands of the IMF and World Bank. Our economic future lies in our own hands—not in boardrooms in Washington or Brussels. We must think Afrikan, act Afrikan, and build Afrikan solutions for Afrikan challenges.

For a truly independent Zimbabwe, for a sovereign Afrika!

Mnangagwa Minister Desperately Calls for Geza Arrest

By A Correspondent

ZANU PF Politburo member and Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Ziyambi Ziyambi, has announced that the party intends to request Police Commissioner-General Stephen Mutamba to arrest war veteran and Central Committee member, Blessed Runesu Geza, on charges of murder.

Speaking at a ZANU PF meeting in North Court, Zvimba East Constituency, on February 3, Ziyambi emphasized the need for an investigation into an alleged incident from several years ago, where Geza was accused of being involved in the death of an unnamed individual at his homestead.

Ziyambi stated:
“In the past, he murdered someone at his homestead and the case was not thoroughly investigated.

If you murder someone, the case does not just disappear, we’re going to tell Mutamba to investigate.”

Ziyambi’s comments come amid growing tensions within the party, with ZANU PF’s Mashonaland West Province recommending the expulsion of Geza from the party.

The expulsion suggestion is based on allegations that Geza has been undermining and threatening President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Geza, known for his outspoken criticism, has accused President Mnangagwa of violating the constitution, worsening corruption, and betraying the principles of the liberation struggle.

He has also demanded Mnangagwa’s immediate resignation, making his position within the party increasingly precarious.

Chiwenga Aide Faces Jail Over Denouncing Mnangagwa

By Munacho Gwamanda-Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi has directed the police to arrest outspoken war veteran Blessed Runesu Geza, a vocal critic of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s controversial Vision 2030 Agenda.

Ziyambi, who is also a ZANU PF Politburo member, wants Police Commissioner-General Stephen Mutamba to press murder charges against Geza, reviving an old case that had long faded from public discourse.

Speaking at a ZANU PF meeting in North Court, Zvimba East Constituency, Tuesday, Ziyambi accused Geza of being involved in an unresolved murder case at his homestead years ago. He declared:

“In the past, he murdered someone at his homestead, and the case was not thoroughly investigated. If you murder someone, the case does not just disappear. We’re going to tell Mutamba to investigate.”

ZANU PF’s Mashonaland West Province has since recommended Geza’s expulsion from the party, citing allegations of undermining and threatening President Mnangagwa.

Geza, a staunch ally of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, has been a persistent critic of Mnangagwa, accusing him of constitutional violations, deepening corruption, and betraying the ideals of the liberation struggle.

His attacks have intensified in recent months, with calls for Mnangagwa’s immediate resignation.

His latest outbursts have exposed the simmering power struggle between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga, which has defined Zimbabwe’s political landscape since the 2017 military coup that ousted Robert Mugabe.

While Mnangagwa consolidated power post-coup, Chiwenga, the architect of the military intervention, has remained a formidable force within the security establishment and party structures.

Insiders suggest that Geza’s outspokenness reflects broader discontent within Chiwenga’s camp, which has grown increasingly frustrated with Mnangagwa’s grip on power and his perceived betrayal of promises made during the coup.

His attacks mirror sentiments echoed by other military-aligned figures who feel sidelined as Mnangagwa positions himself for a potential third term beyond 2028.

The move to arrest Geza is seen as part of Mnangagwa’s strategy to neutralize dissent within ZANU PF, particularly from Chiwenga’s allies who are believed to be laying the groundwork for a leadership challenge.

The weaponization of the legal system against political opponents has become a hallmark of Mnangagwa’s rule, with several opposition figures and internal party rivals facing similar crackdowns.

Chiwenga, Mnangagwa In Tense Exchange

Chiwenga and ED at the State House

By Political Reporter-Tensions within the ruling Zanu PF party reached a boiling point today at State House Harare, where President Emmerson Mnangagwa appeared to be under intense scrutiny from his deputy, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

The high-level meeting convened to bring together Provincial Ministers and heads of government departments, took place against the backdrop of a growing power struggle between the two leaders over succession.

While the meeting was officially framed as a routine government briefing, images from the event suggest a different story.

A widely circulated photograph captures a seemingly tense moment between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga, with the latter engaging the president in an intense exchange.

Meanwhile, two figures in the background, who appear to be closely aligned with Chiwenga, are seen observing the interaction with calculated seriousness.

The image has fueled speculation that Chiwenga’s camp is ramping up pressure on Mnangagwa as the battle for control of Zanu PF intensifies.

The president’s decision to continue holding government meetings despite being officially on leave has also raised eyebrows.

Analysts believe Mnangagwa is attempting to project authority and maintain a grip on the government machinery at a time when Chiwenga is making strategic inroads within the party’s power structures.

Traditionally, when a Zimbabwean president goes on leave, the vice president assumes control.

However, Mnangagwa’s persistent presence at key state functions suggests he is wary of leaving Chiwenga with too much space to maneuver.

The internal battle between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga, which has been simmering since the 2017 coup that ousted Robert Mugabe, has intensified in recent months.

Chiwenga, a former army general who played a crucial role in installing Mnangagwa in power, is now believed to be positioning himself as the natural successor.

His faction within Zanu PF has been consolidating support, particularly among military-aligned party officials and war veterans who feel sidelined by Mnangagwa’s leadership.

The divisions within Zanu PF are expected to widen as the country inches closer to the 2028 general elections.

While Mnangagwa has not publicly declared whether he will seek another term, his recent maneuvers suggest he is not willing to bow out without a fight.

Chiwenga, on the other hand, is reportedly mobilizing support within the security sector and key government institutions, making it increasingly difficult for Mnangagwa to exercise unilateral control over the party and the state.

Today’s meeting at State House may have been a standard government gathering on the surface, but the underlying dynamics reveal a much deeper crisis within Zanu PF.

Mudha Ncube Dishes Out Brand New Mobile Phones To Zanu PF Youths To Defend Mnangagwa On Social Media

Zanu PF Minister of State for Midlands, Owen Mudha Ncube, declared ally of Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa has vowed to crush social media dissent.

Ncube recently distributed brand new Samsung smart phones to Zanu PF youths to dilute dissenting voices on social media.

” We want you to counter negative voices on social media. You know that our enemies are making noise on social media. You must hunt them down and identify them. That’s why we have given you these gadgets,” said Ncube.

Another Top Zimbabwean Caught With Fake UNISA PhD

By Munacho Gwamanda- Another high-profile Zimbabwean, has been caught with a fake UNISA PhD.

Shackmore Wellington Timburwa, the Zanu PF Member of Parliament for Chegutu West, has been exposed for fraudulently claiming a doctoral degree, barely a week after Walter Magaya was exposed for the same.

Timburwa, who goes by the name Shacky Timburwa, staged a fake graduation ceremony in 2023, where he posed in academic regalia and declared himself a PhD graduate.

He took to social media, celebrating what he called “the culmination of years of hard work, late nights, and endless research.”

However, investigations have since revealed that his doctorate is entirely fictitious.

An investigative news portal, Dug-Up, exposed Timburwa’s deceit, linking him to a broader scam involving multiple socialites, including a Zimbabwean legislator and Malawian personalities.

On November 4, 2023, the group participated in an elaborate scheme at the University of South Africa (UNISA), receiving counterfeit degrees.

Although they donned graduation gowns and held maroon placards with the word “Graduation,” UNISA later clarified that it had no record of awarding them any degrees.

The entire event was a staged fraud designed to lend an air of legitimacy to their fake academic credentials.

UNISA quickly disowned the Malawian recipients of the fraudulent doctorates, but Timburwa seemingly evaded scrutiny despite attending the same event.

Since then, he has continued to use the title “Dr.” in official engagements, misleading the public and his constituents.

The issue of fake academic credentials has also entangled other high-profile Zimbabweans, including controversial preacher Walter Magaya.

Facing potential jail time for academic fraud, Magaya is being investigated by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) after allegedly submitting a forged UNISA diploma in his bid to contest the ZIFA presidency and in a High Court challenge.

UNISA has categorically denied that Magaya was ever a student or graduate of the institution.

Despite the scandal, Magaya’s loyal followers remain unwavering in their support.

During a recent church service at his Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries in Harare, Magaya broke down in tears, overwhelmed by the solidarity of his congregation.

They erupted into a song, “Siyanai naye Magaya” (“Leave Magaya alone”), demonstrating their allegiance.

While Magaya refrained from addressing the allegations, his followers dismissed the accusations as a smear campaign.

This is not the first time Magaya has faced accusations of fraud.

In 2016, he was arrested for falsely claiming to have discovered a cure for HIV/AIDS, a claim he later retracted under government pressure.

His failed housing project also left thousands of congregants stranded, leading to legal battles. His controversial attempt to enter football administration has only fueled further skepticism about his intentions.

ZACC has since requested documentation from ZIFA and the High Court to verify Magaya’s academic claims.

If convicted of forging qualifications, he could face criminal charges, further damaging his already controversial reputation.

Zimbabwe has seen a surge in individuals, particularly politicians and socialites, seeking honorary or outright fake PhDs to bolster their public image.

The obsession with academic titles reflects deep-seated societal pressures where credentials often translate to power and influence.

While genuine academic achievements require years of rigorous study, some opt for shortcuts, acquiring fraudulent degrees to gain prestige and credibility.

The Role of Love Psychics in Twin Flame and Soulmate Connections

Love is a mysterious and powerful force, often leading people on a journey to find their perfect match. Many individuals seek guidance from love psychics to understand their relationships, especially when it comes to twin flames and soulmates. These deep connections can be challenging, and a love psychic can help provide insight, clarity, and reassurance.

In this blog, we’ll explore how love psychics play a role in identifying and nurturing twin flame and soulmate connections.

Understanding Twin Flames and Soulmates

Before diving into the role of love psychics, it’s important to understand the difference between twin flames and soulmates.

What Is a Twin Flame?

A twin flame is believed to be the other half of your soul, split into two separate bodies. This connection is intense, often filled with passion, growth, and challenges. Meeting a twin flame can feel like a mirror reflection of yourself, bringing up both strengths and weaknesses.

Twin flame relationships can be:

  • Emotionally intense – The bond is strong, sometimes leading to emotional highs and lows.
  • Spiritually awakening – Meeting your twin flame often triggers personal growth and transformation.
  • Challenging – This relationship is meant to push you towards self-improvement, which can sometimes cause tension or separation before reunion.

What Is a Soulmate?

A soulmate is someone you share a deep and natural bond with, but unlike a twin flame, they are not your “other half.” Instead, soulmates are individuals you connect with on a profound emotional level, bringing love, support, and understanding into your life. Many people turn to love psychics to gain deeper insights into their soulmate connections and understand the spiritual aspects of their relationships.

Soulmate relationships can be:

  • Harmonious – They provide love, comfort, and emotional security.
  • Long-lasting – Many soulmate relationships lead to marriage or lifelong companionship.
  • Supportive – They help you grow and evolve but in a less intense way than twin flames.

How Love Psychics Help Identify Twin Flames and Soulmates

A love psychic uses their intuition, spiritual abilities, and tools such as tarot cards, astrology, and energy readings to help people understand their love connections. Here’s how they assist in identifying and guiding twin flames and soulmates.

1. Recognizing the Signs of a Twin Flame or Soulmate

Many people feel confused about whether they have met a twin flame or a soulmate. A love psychic can:

  • Read your energy and vibrations to determine the type of connection you share.
  • Interpret your past life experiences, which may influence your current relationships.
  • Offer insight into whether your relationship is a spiritual journey (twin flame) or a stable, supportive love (soulmate).

2. Providing Clarity on Relationship Challenges

Twin flame relationships often go through a separation phase, causing emotional distress. A psychic can help by:

  • Explaining why the separation is happening and what lessons need to be learned.
  • Offering guidance on healing and overcoming emotional barriers.
  • Predicting when and how a reunion may occur, based on spiritual timing.

For soulmates, a love psychic can provide clarity on:

  • Whether the person is truly your soulmate or just a strong connection.
  • Potential obstacles in the relationship and how to navigate them.
  • Future outcomes, helping you make informed decisions.

3. Offering Spiritual and Emotional Guidance

Many people turn to love psychics for emotional healing and self-discovery. They can:

  • Help you understand your emotional patterns in love.
  • Guide you towards self-love and personal growth before fully embracing a twin flame or soulmate relationship.
  • Recommend spiritual practices like meditation, journaling, or energy healing to strengthen your bond.

Common Questions People Ask Love Psychics

When consulting a love psychic about twin flames and soulmates, people often ask:

  • Have I met my twin flame or soulmate yet?
  • Why is my twin flame connection so challenging?
  • Are we destined to be together, or is this just a lesson?
  • What can I do to attract my soulmate into my life?
  • How can I heal after a painful separation from my twin flame?

A psychic can provide personalized answers, offering reassurance and helping individuals navigate their love life.

How to Choose a Trustworthy Love Psychic

If you’re considering a love psychic reading, here are some tips to find a reliable one:

  • Check Reviews & Testimonials – Look for psychics with positive feedback and real experiences from past clients.
  • Choose a Specialization – Some psychics specialize in twin flames and soulmate readings, making them more qualified for your questions.
  • Trust Your Intuition – If a psychic’s energy doesn’t feel right, it’s okay to move on and find someone else.
  • Avoid Scammers – Be cautious of psychics who guarantee specific outcomes or demand extra payments for removing curses or spells.

Conclusion

Love psychics play a valuable role in helping people understand and navigate twin flame and soulmate connections. Whether you’re looking for confirmation, guidance, or emotional healing, a trusted psychic can provide deep insights into your love life.

If you’ve ever felt an intense connection with someone and want to know if they are your twin flame or soulmate, a psychic reading might help bring clarity to your journey.

Call to Extend Mnangagwa’s Term is Not Legally Binding – Top Lawyer

By A Correspondent

Prominent Zimbabwean lawyer Brighton Mutebuka has argued that the ZANU PF resolution to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term of office is not legally binding.

Mutebuka, who practices law in the United Kingdom, explained that if Mnangagwa had not accepted the resolution, it would indicate that there was no “meeting of the minds” or informed consent, which is a key principle in contract law.

He wrote:
“At the Bulawayo Conference, @ChinamasaPA on live TV stated that ED had refused to accept the resolution on the basis that he was a Constitutionalist.”

Mutebuka continued, saying, “If he failed to accept it, it means that there was no ‘meeting of the minds’ and thus informed consent on his part, which is a well-established doctrine in contract law.”

He further referenced the concept of “consensus ad idem,” a doctrine highlighted in the famous English case of Smith v Hughes. Mutebuka emphasized:
“This principle asserts that both parties in an agreement must fully understand and agree on what they are committing to.”

In his assessment, Mutebuka suggested that Mnangagwa, by not openly accepting the resolution, appeared to be avoiding responsibility:
“ED is practically hiding behind his proxies & pretending to be reluctant/unwilling to embrace the resolution. He is practically the most reluctant beneficiary of a brazen attempt to violate the Constitution ever – if he is to be believed, that is.”

He concluded that, “Essentially, he needed to accept the resolution at the time that it was tabled, prior to its adoption as a legally binding resolution. Doing so afterwards, even secretly, won’t suffice!”

However, Mutebuka was skeptical of the legal implications of the matter in Zimbabwean courts:
“The above carries no weight in Malaba’s courts, where decisions in politically sensitive cases are perhaps only eclipsed by those dished out by Iranian, Russian & Taliban courts!”

He ended with a sharp observation on the President’s silence:
“On paper, with the way ED is deafeningly silent on the drama surrounding the aftermath of the resolution, you would think that he has been kidnapped and is being held to a ransom!”

Mutsvangwa Threatens To Punish Geza For Challenging Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent

In a dramatic and firm response, Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa has threatened to take action against war veteran Blessed Geza after he publicly criticized President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s attempt to infringe upon Zimbabwe’s Constitution.

This came in light of comments made by Geza that appeared to challenge Mnangagwa’s leadership and political maneuvers.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Mutsvangwa sharply condemned Geza’s remarks, branding them as “outlandish, treasonable and egregious rantings.”

He claimed that the comments violated the core principles of Zanu PF and were a direct affront to the discipline expected of members of the party’s Central Committee.

Mutsvangwa also accused Geza of attempting to undermine the integrity of war veteran entities that remain loyal to Zanu PF, referring to the actions as reckless and detrimental to the party’s unity.

Mutsvangwa’s statement read:

“The outlandish, treasonable and egregious rantings of errant Runesu Geza offended the hallowed tenets of Party Discipline for a Member of the Central Committee.”

Furthermore, Mutsvangwa warned that the relevant party organs were already investigating the matter and would swiftly take action to address the violation.

The Zanu PF spokesperson emphasized that the party’s commitment to supporting President Mnangagwa was unwavering, and all members should remain loyal to the party’s resolutions and the Constitution.

He added:
“The Department of Information assures the Party membership of absolute loyalty of the rank and file supporters to President Mnangagwa and that they retain full confidence of the full and legal implementation of Resolution #1 of the Oct 2024 Bulawayo Conference under the aegis of the 2013 Constitution of Zimbabwe.”

Threats Won’t Silence Us: MURRA

By A Correspondent

Masvingo – The Masvingo United Residents and Rate Payers Alliance (MURRA) has vowed that threats from powerful politicians involved in illegal gold mining activities around the city’s water reservoirs at Tagert Kopje hills will not silence their fight for residents’ rights to clean, potable water and a safe environment.

MURRA Director, Anoziva Muguti, spoke out recently, revealing that he has been receiving anonymous threats from illegal gold panners in the area who have warned of harm to him and his staff for reviving a High Court case. The case seeks an interdict to halt the illegal mining operations that threaten both the city’s water supply and the safety of its residents.

“We will not be intimidated. We will continue to fight for justice and accountability, no matter the cost,” Muguti said.

The threats are linked to MURRA’s ongoing efforts to stop illegal mining on the hills, which poses a serious risk to the town’s water supply. Since 2020, MURRA has been leading the charge, taking the Masvingo City Council, the Ministry of Mines, and the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) to court over the issue.

“We will not back down. The people of Masvingo deserve nothing less than clean water and a safe environment,” Muguti added.

Residents are deeply concerned for their safety as the illegal miners use hazardous chemicals like cyanide, which could contaminate the water supply. There are also fears that mining activities beneath the water tanks could lead to their collapse, endangering the lives of residents in the Majange, Hillside, and Tagert Kopje suburbs, where over one million cubic liters of water are stored.

Despite the threats, Muguti remains steadfast, declaring that MURRA will continue to expose the corrupt practices undermining the community.

“We are not alone in this fight. There are countless others who have suffered at the hands of these illegal mining operations. Together, we demand justice and accountability,” he emphasized.

In addition to the environmental risks, residents have reported that the blasting of rocks in the area has caused cracks in their homes, raising fears that their houses could collapse at any moment.

MURRA has not yet reported the threats to the police as they are still investigating the identity of the individuals behind the intimidation. However, they do have the names of several powerful politicians and their families, though these will not be disclosed until they are confirmed through legal processes.

“We are taking our time to ensure the right people are held accountable. We will reveal names only once the courts have positively identified them,” Muguti concluded.

Can Psychics Communicate with the Dead? The Truth About Mediumship

Mediumship is the claimed ability to connect with spirits or communicate with the deceased. Many psychics and spiritual practitioners believe they can act as a bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds. While some people wholeheartedly trust in mediumship, others remain skeptical, questioning whether these experiences are real or simply illusions.

Types of Mediumship

There are different ways mediums claim to receive messages from the dead. These methods vary based on how they perceive or interpret spiritual energies.

1. Mental Mediumship

This is the most common form of mediumship. The medium receives messages through thoughts, images, voices, or sensations in their mind. They may hear words, see visions, or feel emotions associated with the deceased.

2. Physical Mediumship

In this form, spirits supposedly manipulate physical objects or sounds. Examples include levitation, spirit writing, and objects moving on their own. Physical mediumship is rare and often met with skepticism.

3. Trance Mediumship

A trance medium enters an altered state of consciousness, allowing a spirit to take over their voice, writing, or actions. Some famous trance mediums claim to deliver messages directly from the deceased.

4. Channeling

Channeling is when a medium serves as a vessel for a spirit, allowing it to communicate through them. This could be done through speech, automatic writing, or even through art and music.

The Science Behind Mediumship

Many scientists and skeptics argue that there is no conclusive proof that mediums truly communicate with the dead. Some theories suggest that the information provided by psychics comes from:

  • Cold reading – Observing a person’s body language, expressions, or responses to make educated guesses.
  • Hot reading – Researching information about a client before a session.
  • The subconscious mind – Some believe that mediums tap into their own intuition or subconscious rather than an external spirit.
  • Confirmation bias – People tend to remember hits and forget misses, reinforcing belief in psychic abilities.

Despite skepticism, many believers claim to have had profound experiences with mediums that felt real and comforting.

Can Mediums Truly Speak to the Dead?

The answer depends on personal belief. While science has not yet confirmed mediumship as a real phenomenon, millions of people worldwide trust in it based on personal experiences. Some well-known cases of supposed spirit communication have left even skeptics questioning their beliefs. If you’re curious to explore readings for yourself, you can find cheap psychics who offer affordable sessions to help you gain insight.

Famous Mediums and Their Claims

Many famous mediums have gained recognition for their alleged ability to communicate with spirits:

  • John Edward – Known for his show “Crossing Over,” where he delivered messages from the dead to audience members.
  • Theresa Caputo – The “Long Island Medium” claims to receive messages from spirits in everyday life.
  • Edgar Cayce – A historical figure known for his trance readings and spiritual insights.

While these figures have many believers, they also face criticism from skeptics who argue that their abilities are more psychological than supernatural.

Why Do People Seek Mediums?

People turn to mediums for various reasons, often rooted in grief, curiosity, or the need for closure. Some common reasons include:

  • Coping with Loss – Many find comfort in hearing messages they believe come from deceased loved ones.
  • Seeking Guidance – Some people believe spirits provide insights about their future.
  • Validating Personal Experiences – Those who have felt a spirit’s presence seek confirmation through a medium.

How to Tell if a Medium is Genuine

If you’re considering consulting a medium, here are some tips to distinguish between a genuine spiritual practitioner and a potential fraud:

  1. Avoid vague statements – A true medium should provide specific details that resonate with you, not just general statements that apply to anyone.
  2. Be wary of high fees – A good medium should not overcharge or make unrealistic promises.
  3. Research their background – Look for reviews, testimonials, and any history of fraudulent activity.
  4. Trust your instincts – If something feels off, it probably is.

Final Thoughts: Belief or Illusion?

The question of whether psychics can communicate with the dead remains unanswered in scientific terms. However, for those who have had powerful experiences with mediums, the belief in the afterlife and spirit communication is very real.

Regardless of one’s beliefs, mediumship continues to offer comfort and hope to many. Whether it is a genuine connection or simply a psychological tool for healing, its impact on people’s lives cannot be denied.

Govt Publishes Pictures Of Mnangagwa In Sad Facials

This is Emmerson Mnangagwa’s forlorn face soon after arriving back to a presidency whose power is now in the hands of his deputy Constantino Chiwenga since last Monday. Pictures shared by the Information Ministry show his deputy somewhat authoritatively gesticulating to him during their conversation captured on camera. This is a day after Justice Minister and Mnangagwa ally Ziyambi Ziyambi was interviewed over the ongoing military announcements to unseat him (Mnangagwa) in the event he moves a finger to arrest war veterans voicing their displeasure at his leadership. Ziyambi was also exposed over his aides’ threats to poison Constantino Chiwenga with “crocodile milk,” as punishment for not supporting Mnangagwa’s desire to violate the constitution and remain president till 2030. Ziyambi’s Anti-Geza Press Conference Was Made Up Of Fake ZANU PF Members Promised Title Deeds | Full Text

The Provincial Chairman
Mashonaland West Province
CHINHOYI

05 February 2025

Dear Cde Mliswa

RE: Mash West in Political Leadership Crisis.

The recent presser at North Court Farm is a shame for our province. It was first intended to be done at National Headquarters but later shifted to the farm where farm dwellers are facing conviction. The farm dwellers at Northfolk farm were used to create a crowd due to their pending evictions which they are fighting. What was clear was their confusion on the words around Cde Geza because they have never met him and for a fact were not even aware he is a Central Commitee Member. These people were railroaded and manipulated into attendance to an agenda which had nothing to do with their grievances. The challenge was the agenda to talk of Cde Geza did not gain traction hence failure of most DCC and Provincial members to attend the meeting. Abuse of people at North court who are facing legal challenges must be condemned by all right thinking Cdes. Those people are desperate and deserve to be assisted on their genuine problem .

The meeting at North Court did not have mandate to fire Cde Geza as it did not constitute any organ of the party. It was merely a rallying point to help impoverished compound dwellers facing evictions. That is why the compound dwellers started leaving the venue whilst leadership was still speaking.

The PCC meeting today can only recommended to NDC for Cde Geza to be dismissed from the party through a charge sheet which shall be handed over to Central Commitee for deliberations. Only the Central Commitee can charge Cde Geza and recommend the issue to NDC. However it is apparent that those who are pushing an agenda are also capable of tearing the party constitution to meet their goals.

Cde Geza is from Kadoma and the first complaint should infact come from Kadoma before the provincial leadership meetings. It baffles the mind why a presser had to be done 200km away from Kadoma where he stays and originates from.

Pressers in themselves do not remove problems; infact they have drawn attention to our province and pathetic mobilisation deficiencies.

We have not heard Mash East convening a PCC to fire Cde Mavetera for her behavior at the national shrine in front of the then Acting President and Second Secretary of the party Cde Chiwenga.

Cde Mary Mliswa and Cde Ziyambi please be aware that you were all imposed into those positions you hold today without merit. Please recognise the fact that your loss of elections means the generality of people do not have support for you and your schemes. Please do not abuse your proximity and benovelence of our head of state and First Secretary of Zanu PF.

The people of Mashonaland West are watching you as you partake into your tribal agenda against the masses of Mashwest province. We need more unity in Mash West and ZANU PF at large without toxic pressers and publicity gerrymandering.

Cde Chairman may you please be guided by principles of Revolution not self centered agendas.

Regards

Cde Gifford Gomwe
Mash West.

Another Chigananda Emerges

By A Correspondent| While much of the public’s attention has been focused on controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo and his questionable donation of luxury cars to musicians and prominent figures, another name has emerged in a similar fashion.

The new ‘chigananda’ is non other than Paul Tempter Tungwarara, who claims credit for bringing in the investor behind the new city development in Mt Hampden.

The new chigananda yesterday giftedToyota GD6 vehicles to celebrated comedians Sabhuku Vharazipi and Chairman, in a move that has now become synonymous with corrupt and controversial businesspeople around President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Tungwarara recently sparked a social media storm after criticizing outspoken war veteran and Zanu PF Central Committee member Blessed Geza. This came after Geza held a press conference opposing Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 agenda. Tungwarara dismissed Geza’s remarks as “retrogressive,” warning that such opposition poses a significant threat to Zimbabwe’s ongoing development efforts.

Appointed by Mnangagwa as the Special Presidential Investment Advisor to the United Arab Emirates, Tungwarara has not been without controversy. He previously faced criticism over allegations of inflating the cost of constructing a pre-cast wall at the State House on Chancellor Avenue.

ZANU PF Issues Strong Statement Against Geza Amidst Internal Power Struggles

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | The ruling ZANU PF party has issued a scathing statement against Runesu Geza, accusing him of treasonous and reckless utterances that violate party discipline. In a press release signed by Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa, the party’s spokesperson, ZANU PF declared that its disciplinary organs are handling the matter to ensure it is swiftly resolved.

The statement comes amid escalating internal tensions within ZANU PF, particularly concerning Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s future in the party. Sources within the ruling party indicate that Geza’s remarks were in support of Chiwenga, further intensifying the power struggle between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy.

The ZANU PF Department of Information reassured party supporters of the rank and file’s loyalty to Mnangagwa, insisting that the implementation of Resolution #1 of the October 2024 Bulawayo Conference remains in full effect under the 2013 Constitution of Zimbabwe.

This development follows a day of dramatic political maneuvers, with Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi denying allegations that he advised Mnangagwa to fire Chiwenga while also dismissing reports that he orchestrated threats against the Vice President using coded language about “crocodile milk” (poison).

Ziyambi’s Denials and a Video Evidence Confrontation

Speaking exclusively to ZimEye at around 8:00 PM, Minister Ziyambi initially denied involvement in moves to push Chiwenga out of the ruling party. However, when confronted with a full-color video clip showing an official ZANU PF meeting where these threats were issued, his stance shifted.
• “It’s not a crime, but it’s criminal to lie about what was never discussed,” Ziyambi stated, referencing his own advice to Mnangagwa to appear unaware of the constitutional amendment plot.
• When asked if the amendment was designed to push out Chiwenga, he responded dismissively: “From where? Congress elects a successor. Yati yagara here? [Has Congress sat yet?]”
• Pressed further on whether Mnangagwa intended to extend his rule beyond 2028, Ziyambi asked: “Who said he (Chiwenga) cannot be elected in 2030?”

When presented with evidence that Mashonaland West ZANU PF structures were openly singing songs calling for Chiwenga to be “fed crocodile milk”, Ziyambi initially denied knowledge of such threats. But after being shown a video of a ZANU PF provincial chairperson making these declarations in an official meeting, he abruptly ended the conversation and sped off at 8:30 PM.

Political Fallout and Rising Tensions

This latest internal purge suggests that Mnangagwa’s camp is moving aggressively to neutralize pro-Chiwenga voices within the party. The public censure of Runesu Geza is widely seen as part of a broader strategy to silence dissenters and consolidate Mnangagwa’s grip on power amid speculation of a third-term bid in 2028.

ZANU PF’s decision to fire back at Geza comes as war veterans and elements within the military grow increasingly restless over Mnangagwa’s alleged attempts to violate the agreement between “Soko naShumba” (the Crocodile and the Lion), which was the power-sharing pact between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga in 2017.

With the 2028 elections looming, tensions within ZANU PF are at an all-time high, and Mnangagwa’s succession battle is far from settled.

Zanu PF MP Caught With A Fake PhD

By Munacho Gwamanda-Shackmore Wellington Timburwa, the Zanu PF Member of Parliament for Chegutu West, has been exposed for fraudulently claiming a doctoral degree.

The Mighty Warriors are determined and ready to fight for a spot in the prestigious continental competition.

Will War Veterans Accept Mnangagwa Cash Bribe?

By A Correspondent

In a bid to quell dissent among war veterans, particularly outspoken critics like Blessed Geza, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has rolled out a US$1.5 million fund aimed at empowering former freedom fighters. The initiative is seen as a strategic move to silence those opposing his third-term agenda.

The Presidential War Veterans Fund, part of Mnangagwa’s broader “Leaving No One and No Place Behind” philosophy, seeks to recognize and reward the contributions made by war veterans, ex-political prisoners, detainees, restrictees, non-combatant cadres, and war collaborators to Zimbabwe’s independence and nation-building.

A beneficiary of the fund expressed gratitude, saying, “This is unheard of since 1980. We applaud the President for remembering us in such an impactful way. The money will be put to good use and will ensure that every waiver in the constituency benefits and has the chance to start a project or business of their choice.”

Another recipient of the fund added, “I’m speechless, I never expected to witness this in my old age. The President has done something we never anticipated would happen. I already wanted to start a poultry project, and now I have the chance. I am going to ensure it is a success, and the fund keeps revolving.”

The programme has already been launched in three provinces, and its reach is expected to expand further. Chikomba West legislator, Honourable Tatenda Mavetera, lauded the initiative, emphasizing, “The President has shown he is a leader who incorporates everyone for economic development. One cannot deny the work he has done to uplift youths, women, and now war veterans. I’m excited about the programmes that are going to be implemented this year through this fund, and what’s amazing is how the President has said no interest will be charged to those who will access the fund. What more can you want from our President?”

Masvingo’s Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Ezra Chadzamira, added, “This is a programme that will not only capacitate our veterans but will ensure that they contribute economically to the country’s vision through various initiatives they will implement from the fund. Everyone is set to benefit, and systems are being put in place to ensure transparency and accountability.”

The War Veterans League Secretary, Cde Douglas Mahiya, stated that a Trust would be created for the distribution of the funds across provinces. He also emphasized, “The President is a man who walks the talk. He has assured war veterans that they will be capacitated and cushioned against the economic challenges facing the country, and he has lived to his word. Today, Masvingo and Mashonaland Central have received their share, and other provinces will follow suit. The National Executive has approved the Trust that will see them borrowing money, which will be used as collateral.”

This strategic move, intended to ensure loyalty and maintain the support of war veterans, is yet another example of Mnangagwa’s efforts to consolidate his power and secure his political agenda.

Zapu Dismisses Mnangagwa Third Term Agenda

By A Correspondent

ZAPU President Sibangilizwe Nkomo has issued a stern warning against any attempts by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to extend his tenure beyond 2028, vowing strong resistance from his party.

Nkomo emphatically rejected the notion of a coup, but insisted that ZAPU demands “fair and transparent elections” in 2028, emphasizing that Mnangagwa must step down once his second and final term expires.

Speaking to the press in Bulawayo recently, Nkomo condemned the current president’s attempts to prolong his rule, calling them “the grandfather of all illegalities.”

He asserted: “Mnangagwa sneaked into power on the back of a military coup in 2017 and now seeks to extend his rule by staging another coup against the constitution of Zimbabwe. It is a treasonous ambition that no patriotic Zimbabwean should entertain.”

Nkomo criticized the ruling ZANU PF party, claiming that since Zimbabwe’s independence in 1980, they have continually “taken the country’s citizens for granted.” He added, “We categorically reject claims that Zimbabweans wish to endure more suffering beyond 2028.

Only the merchants of death and suffering can agitate for the extension of Mr Mnangagwa’s presidential term even by a week.”

Furthermore, Nkomo called on Zimbabweans to withdraw their consent for Mnangagwa’s government, stating, “We also call on the people of Zimbabwe to withdraw their consent and refuse to be governed by Mr Mnangagwa’s government beyond 2028.”

Nkomo promised that ZAPU would take bold action in response to any attempt to extend Mnangagwa’s rule. “Mnangagwa’s administration will see a side of us they have never witnessed before. We will take the lead in making this country ungovernable as long as there is no electoral mandate from the people.”

The ZAPU leader warned that civil disobedience would be encouraged and further steps to undermine Mnangagwa’s government would be considered if the regime “foolishly chooses to dig in.” Nkomo added, “His first term, powered by a military coup, and the second one, secured from a stolen mandate in August 2023, have been disastrous enough for the people.”

He criticized Mnangagwa’s leadership, claiming that there is no vision for Zimbabwe’s future. “There is no iota of evidence to suggest that in 2030, Zimbabwe will provide upper-middle income for ordinary Zimbabweans.”

“Chigananda” Chivayo Continues To Splash Looted Cash

By A Correspondent

Controversial Zanu PF businessman Wicknell Chivayo has once again made headlines by giving comedian Bhutisi, whose real name is Admire Kuzhangaira, a brand new motor vehicle.

This marks another controversial gesture from Chivayo, whose wealth and business dealings have often been surrounded by mystery.

Chivayo, who has close ties with President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has been at the centre of public attention due to his business dealings, which have raised eyebrows.

Recently, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga publicly criticized Chivayo, accusing him of looting State funds, adding fuel to the controversy surrounding the businessman.

Despite the mounting pressure and criticism, Chivayo remains defiant.

In a Facebook post on Monday, he celebrated his gift to Bhutisi and further fueled his public image” as a benefactor.”

Chivayo shared an enthusiastic message with his followers:

“After an OVERWHELMING and record-breaking response from the comment section, I say a big CONGRATULATIONS to prominent comedian BHUTISI…

Chivayo continued to express his admiration for Bhutisi’s success, writing, “To you my brother BHUTISI, you started off with a TOYOTA AQUA and now you are a proud owner of a Mercedes Benz C200. May this be a sign that God loves you, and if you give thanks and praise up above, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE… Keep working hard, you are destined for GREATNESS… WELL DONE…???”

This latest act comes amidst ongoing public scrutiny of Chivayo’s wealth and his connections to Mr Mnangagwa.

Ahead of these crucial encounters, coach Sithethelelwe Sibanda expressed her satisfaction with the players’ readiness and enthusiasm. “We are excited to start our preparations for the AFCON qualifiers, and we are confident that with the talent and dedication of our players, we can achieve great things,” Sibanda said in a statement released by ZIFA.

ZIFA President Nqobile Magwizi also pledged full support for the Mighty Warriors, vowing to provide everything necessary to ensure the team’s success. “We stand behind the Mighty Warriors and will ensure they have all the support they need to excel,” Magwizi said.

The team’s first target is to overcome Angola and advance to the second round, where they will face the winner of the tie between Malawi and Congo. The ultimate goal remains securing one of the 12 spots available for the final tournament, which is set to take place in Morocco.

The Mighty Warriors are determined and ready to fight for a spot in the prestigious continental competition.

Mnangagwa Bribes War Veterans With USD 1,5 Million Cash

Military Announcement: Justice Minister Finally Responds To ZDF Threat To Stop ED From Violating Constitution | EXCLUSIVE

Justice Minister Responds to Military Threat Against Mnangagwa

By Special Correspondent | ZimEye | Zimbabwe’s Justice Minister, Ziyambi Ziyambi, has dismissed claims that he advised President Emmerson Mnangagwa to fire his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga, amid growing political tensions that have now escalated to a military threat to remove Mnangagwa. His remarks come after a leaked viral unofficial press conference featuring a member of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) warning against any move to push Chiwenga out of power.

Speaking exclusively to ZimEye around 8 PM, Ziyambi strongly denied orchestrating efforts to sideline Chiwenga, dismissing allegations that he instructed ZANU PF structures to threaten the Vice President with “crocodile milk”—a euphemism for poison. “It’s not a crime, but it’s criminal to lie about what was never discussed,” he said, referring to claims that he directed Mnangagwa to pretend ignorance over calls for an unconstitutional amendment to prolong his rule.

However, when presented with a video clip from an official ZANU PF meeting where the pronouncements were made, Ziyambi evaded direct answers. “Videos never speak about VP,” he responded when confronted with footage of himself issuing directives.

As tensions within ZANU PF mount, concerns have risen over whether Mnangagwa intends to extend his stay in power beyond constitutional limits. When asked whether the constitutional amendment is aimed at eliminating Chiwenga from succession, Ziyambi countered, “From where? Congress elects a successor. Has congress sat yet? Who said he [Chiwenga] cannot be elected in 2030?”

The leaked press conference by the ZDF member, now circulating widely, underscores the military’s resistance to any move that would betray the long-standing agreement between war veterans and the ruling party, particularly the so-called “Soko naShumba” pact. This agreement is believed to outline power-sharing arrangements between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga.

Ziyambi further downplayed threats against Chiwenga, insisting that declarations from Mashonaland West leaders—who were caught on video chanting about feeding Chiwenga “crocodile milk”—did not amount to a political directive. “Where did Mash West sing that song? I am not aware of ZANU PF issues being confined to agreements between two people. I thought we go to congress?” he argued.

Despite his denials, he was confronted with video evidence showing a Mashonaland West provincial chairperson making statements advocating for Chiwenga’s poisoning. Shortly after, Ziyambi abruptly terminated the conversation and left the interview at around 8:30 PM.

The Justice Minister’s response does little to ease growing fears of an internal power struggle that has now drawn the attention of Zimbabwe’s military. With war veterans and army officials reportedly taking a firm stance against any betrayal of their agreement with Chiwenga, the political landscape remains volatile.

Government Threatens to Jail Social Media Critics as Zanu PF Infighting Intensifies

By A Correspondent

In a move widely interpreted as an attempt to silence social media critics, the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) issued a stern warning on Monday about the “escalating cyberbullying” in the country.

The statement was viewed by many as a direct response to the ongoing political divisions within the ruling Zanu PF party.

Zanu PF is currently embroiled in internal strife over President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s push for a third term. One faction within the party is backing Mnangagwa’s agenda, while another, said to be aligned with Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, is actively opposing it.

The political tension has spilled over into social media, where critics have been vocally discussing the ongoing power struggles.

In its statement, POTRAZ reaffirmed its commitment to protecting individuals in the digital space. “The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), as the designated Data Protection Authority under Section 5 of the Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07], remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the safety, privacy, and dignity of every individual in our digital community,” the authority said.

POTRAZ expressed concern over the growing trend of cyberbullying, which it described as harmful, malicious behavior carried out through digital platforms. “Cyberbullying is a malicious act that involves sending or posting harmful, intimidating, or humiliating messages or information on social media platforms, private chats, or other digital forums,” the statement read.

“This behavior is intended to coerce, intimidate, harass, threaten, or cause substantial emotional distress to victims. In extreme cases, it can lead to self-harm or even suicide.”

The statement also underscored the emotional and psychological toll that cyberbullying takes on its victims, noting that the consequences of such behavior can be severe.

“This behavior can lead to self-harm or even suicide, highlighting the grave emotional and psychological consequences it imposes,” the statement continued.

“POTRAZ is clear about the legal ramifications of cyberbullying in Zimbabwe. The authority pointed out that cyberbullying is a violation of personal privacy and a criminal offense under the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform Act) [Chapter 9:23].”

“Anyone convicted of cyberbullying may face:

A fine up to level 10,

Imprisonment for up to 10 years, or

Both a fine and imprisonment,” it warned.

POTRAZ also called on all Zimbabweans to foster a more respectful and supportive online culture. “We urge all Zimbabweans to embrace a culture of kindness, empathy, and mutual respect in their online engagements. Let us work together to build a digital community where everyone feels safe, valued, and protected,” the statement said.

EXCLUSIVE: Justice Minister Interview Over Clear Video Threats To Poison VP Chiwenga

By Special Correspondent | ZimEye | As the country ends another day with two virtual presidents, Justice Minister Ziyambi has denied advising President Emmerson Mnangagwa to fire his deputy Constantino Chiwenga, and to pretend like he’s clueless of the calls to illegally amend the constitution.

He also denied commanding ZANU PF structures to threaten Chiwenga with crocodile milk, another term for poison, as he said there are no such calls. This was before being presented with a full colour video clip of an official party meeting where the pronouncements are made.

Speaking exclusively to ZimEye at around 8pm, minister Ziyambi initially said:
“It’s not a crime but it’s criminal to lie about what was never discussed,” referring to his own instructions to Mnangagwa that he must pretend like the ZANU PF leader is not behind the tearing apart of the constitution.

He was reminded of the video recording of him passing instructions to party members and then he responded saying , “Videos never speak about VP.”

The amendment is all about pushing VP out, is it not?, he was asked, to which he said,

“From where. Congress elects a successor. Yati yagara here? [ has congress sat yet?]

“Who said he (Chiwenga) cannot be elected in 2030,” he asked ZimEye.

“How does a resolution done last year get launched this year. Have you ever heard him (Mnangagwa) saying l want to stay on,?” he went on.

That’s what the army and war vets don’t want and it is a betrayal of their agreement between Soko naShumba which is very clear; and that Mash West leadership is already singing kuti VP tichavakushisa mukaka weGarwe, which is a statement that you guys want to kill the VP.

And then you come out and hold a press conference firing Geza, over his support for the VP. That whole presser was yours kaHonourable? You are the boss, so how can you say you didn’t tell First Lady, when you said it yourself you would tell ED himself yourself, on your own kuti violate your contract with the people of Zimbabwe and with the VP?, he was asked, to which he said,

“Shamu just said vanhu kumusha varikuti… does that translate to launching or ED saying l want?”

Over the prayer-song that calls for Chiwenga to be fed crocodile milk, Ziyambi initially denied its existence, saying, “Where did Mash West sing that song. l am not aware of ZANU PF issues being confined to agreements between two people. l thought we go to congress?,” he asked.

He was presented with the video of one of his juniors who is the Chair person in Mash West who is inside an official provincial meeting pronouncing declarations that the vice president must be sprinkled with crocodile milk.

He then sped off to terminate the conversation at around 8.30 pm . Follow ZimEye for more

Prophet Uses Manhood To Exorcise Evil Spirits From Congregant

By A Correspondent

A 55-year-old self-proclaimed prophet from Uzumba’s Chief Nyajina area has been arrested and charged with rape. The prophet allegedly used his position of authority to manipulate and assault a female congregant.

According to court records, the prophet gave the complainant a prophecy in May 2023, claiming she would experience fertility issues. He instructed her to visit his residence for prayers, where she stayed for three days.

On the third day, the prophet instructed the complainant to wake up at midnight for a prayer session. He claimed she had an unknown object in her womb that could only be removed through sexual intercourse with him. The prophet threatened the complainant with death if she refused to comply, and subsequently raped her.

The incident came to light on February 1, 2025, when the prophet informed the complainant’s husband that she needed to return to his residence to complete the prayers. The complainant revealed to her husband that the prophet had raped her, leading to a police report and the prophet’s arrest.

The prophet has been placed on remand and is scheduled to appear in court again on February 17, 2025.

Ziyambi Ziyambi Stirs Controversy: Geza’s Rebellion Against ZANU-PF Leadership

By Shelton Muchena| Cde Blessed Geza, a revered war veteran and longtime member of the central committee, was expelled during a tumultuous Mashonaland West gathering chaired by Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi.

However, Cde Geza popularly known as Bombshell’s expulsion has been long anticipated following his attack to the President Mnangagwa and his 2030 cronies.

Known for his passionate speeches and steadfast adherence to the party’s foundational values, Geza ignited controversy with his bold proclamation that “the only 2030 President Mnangagwa will see is half past eight on the clock.”

This provocative statement not only raised eyebrows but also exposed fissures within the party, eliciting mixed reactions from members.

The situation escalated further when Ziyambi Ziyambi, an influential cabinet minister and party stalwart, confirmed that Geza had earlier refused to endorse President Mnangagwa as a ZANU PF candidate in the recent elections.

This act of defiance was seen as a serious breach of party protocol and a direct challenge to presidential authority, fueling perceptions of betrayal against the party’s core tenets.

Ziyambi’s remarks highlighted the intensifying rifts among party leadership, underscoring the shifting dynamics as ZANU PF braces for critical upcoming elections.

Initially intended to bolster party unity, the Mashonaland West conference quickly devolved into chaos following Geza’s audacious statements. His expulsion was not merely a sidelining of one member but rather a clear indication of the broader internal turmoil plaguing ZANU PF—a party facing fierce challenges amid declining public support and a rising tide of opposition.

As the dust settles over Geza’s removal, senior party leaders are increasingly reflective about the implications of their own loyalty. Many war veterans, who once viewed Geza as a steadfast champion of their cause, are now reconsidering their allegiance to a party perceived as straying from its original purpose. The confusion is further amplified as Geza’s supporters rally behind him, igniting a spirit of rebellion against the existing leadership.

This internal conflict transcends individual rivalries; it epitomizes a profound ideological battle within ZANU PF. As the party navigates the turbulent waters leading into the next electoral cycle, the repercussions of Geza’s ousting will likely resonate far beyond the confines of Mashonaland West.

In the wake of this upheaval, observers are left pondering the future of ZANU PF in a nation yearning for meaningful change. Will Blessed Geza rise from the ashes of his expulsion to become a voice for a rejuvenated movement?

Or will the aspirations he championed be sacrificed as the party marches on without him? Only time will reveal the answers to these burning questions as Zimbabwe stands at a political crossroads.

If Geza’s expulsion is primarily a consequence of his insulting remarks directed towards the President, then it stands to reason that a similar standard of accountability should be upheld for others who have made derogatory comments about General Chiwenga.

It is essential to maintain consistency in the enforcement of consequences for disrespectful behavior, regardless of the individual in question. Selective enforcement could lead to perceptions of bias and unfairness within the political landscape, undermining the principles of justice and equality.

If insults and slander are deemed unacceptable in the case of the President, then the same principle should logically extend to General Chiwenga and any other public figures.

Establishing this standard is critical in promoting a culture of respect and civility in political discourse, ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their position, are held to the same ethical guidelines.

Real Madrid has been handed a setback as central defender David Alaba continues to struggle with match fitness after picking up an injury. The club released an official update on his condition following tests conducted by their medical team on Tuesday.

The statement from Real Madrid confirmed the issue, stating, “Following tests carried out on our player David Alaba by Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an adductor injury in his left leg.” The club assured fans that Alaba’s recovery is being closely monitored, as he works to regain full fitness and return to action.

Alaba, who has played a vital role in Real Madrid’s defense since joining from Bayern Munich, has been struggling for match sharpness in recent weeks. Despite this, he was brought on for a few minutes in Madrid’s recent game, which underlined his ongoing battle to regain full fitness after a period of recovery.

This injury is a further setback for Alaba, who had been working to regain his spot in the starting lineup. His experience, leadership, and versatility have been crucial for the team, making his absence a worrying prospect for both Real Madrid and their supporters.

The official statement did not specify a timeline for Alaba’s return, leaving fans uncertain about how long the Austrian international will be sidelined. However, the club’s medical staff will continue to assess his condition as they manage his rehabilitation and recovery.

While Alaba’s absence leaves a gap in the defense, Real Madrid will look to other members of the squad to step up in his place. ZAPU Vows To Resist Mnangagwa Third Term Agenda

“Chigananda” Chivayo Donates Brand New Vehicle To Bhutisi

Please go and see Madzibaba Chipaga at ENTERPRISE CAR SALES and collect your C200 and 5000 USD cash… Zvisinei COMMENT SECTION yapopota saka usasiye mumiriri wako we Mweya he must also get an AQUA and 1000 USD… The phrases ISHE VANO SEKA ZVAVO and ISHE VANODZOKORODZA ZVAVO were just hilarious and got me laughing all weekend ???.”

National Foods Withdraws From Stock Exchange As The Economy Collapses

By Business Reporter-National Foods Holdings Limited (Natfoods), Zimbabwe’s largest food producer has officially terminated its listing on the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange (VFEX), marking yet another blow to investor confidence in the country’s struggling economy.

The decision, first announced in 2024, was attributed to the company’s reduced need for capital from public equity markets.

However, analysts view the move as symptomatic of broader economic turmoil, reflecting waning confidence in Zimbabwe’s capital markets and the deteriorating business environment.

In a statement issued on February 3, VFEX Head of Markets Robert Mubaiwa confirmed that Natfoods traded on VFEX for the last time on January 31.
“The Victoria Falls Stock Exchange Limited (VFEX) hereby notifies the investing public of the voluntary termination of the listing of ordinary shares of National Foods Holdings Limited (NTFD.vx) with effect from 31 January 2025,” said Mubaiwa.

He further stated that shareholders had met on December 18, 2024, and passed a resolution to voluntarily delist in accordance with Section 11 of the VFEX Listing Requirements.

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe subsequently approved the delisting request under Section 64 (1) (a) (i) of the Securities and Exchange Act [Chapter 24:25].

The delisting of Natfoods comes at a time when Zimbabwe’s economy is reeling from persistent inflation, foreign currency shortages, and declining consumer purchasing power.

The retail and manufacturing sectors have been particularly hard-hit, with major retail chains such as OK Zimbabwe, Spar, and N. Richards either closing stores or scaling back operations due to rising costs, supply chain disruptions, and dwindling sales.

Natfoods’ departure from VFEX underscores a broader crisis in Zimbabwe’s financial markets, which have struggled to attract investment amid an unpredictable policy environment.

The VFEX, established in 2020 to lure investors with incentives such as trading in US dollars, has faced limited success, with several listed companies either struggling or reconsidering their positions.

The company’s decision also raises concerns about the long-term viability of Zimbabwe’s capital markets and the ability of local businesses to secure funding through public listings.

With inflation eroding savings and disposable incomes, many businesses are opting for alternative financing mechanisms or reducing reliance on external capital altogether.

The collapse of major retailers and the exit of a dominant food manufacturer from the stock exchange paint a grim picture of Zimbabwe’s economic trajectory.

If policymakers fail to address underlying issues such as currency instability, high taxation, and inconsistent regulations, more companies may follow Natfoods’ path—either by delisting, downsizing, or shutting down completely.

State Ready To Prosecute Chimombe, Mpofu

The State led by prosecutor Anesu Chirenje says it is ready to kickstart the trial of Zanu PF central committee member Mike Chimombe and his business partner Moses Mpofu on a US$9 million street lights tender scam.

The matter has already been indicted to the High Court, with the trial set to commence on March 24 this year.

The accused, represented by Arshiel Mugiya, were advised of the trial date on Friday when they appeared before magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa.

It is the State’s case that in January last year, Harare City Council resolved to rehabilitate its street lights in preparation for the Sadc Summit held in the capital in August.

The council invited bids, and 11 companies, including Juluka Endo Joint Venture (Pvt) Ltd where Mpofu is a co-owner, submitted bids for the project.

The tender documents stipulated that all prospective bidders should have stamped audited financial statements for the last two years.

Bidding companies were also required to provide proof of payment of special procurement oversight committee and administration fees, among other requirements.

Prosecutor Anesu Chirenje told the court that on April 19 last year , an evaluation committee awarded four companies eight lots to rehabilitate the streetlights.

Executive Air Accused of Flight Log Irregularities Amid Tax Evasion Allegations

By A Correspondent| Executive Air, a prominent aviation company, is facing serious allegations of failing to properly log its flights, raising suspicions of tax evasion and regulatory violations.

According to sources, the company has been accused of omitting key details in its flight logs, including flight paths, cargo manifests, passenger information, and crew details.

These omissions could constitute a breach of aviation standards established by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ).

A close source, speaking on condition of anonymity, alleged that Executive Air is exploiting relaxed oversight by the CAAZ to bypass proper flight logging procedures.

“They are taking advantage of the lax enforcement to avoid paying taxes. This is not just about compliance; it’s about a deliberate effort to cheat the system,” the source claimed.

Ed Mordat, a key figure connected to the controversy, recently denied allegations of irregular practices within Executive Air.

Despite this, the company has not issued an official statement to address the growing concerns. Efforts to contact its representatives for comment have been unsuccessful.

The alleged lapses have attracted the attention of aviation authorities, who are reportedly initiating investigations to uncover the full scope of the violations. If proven, these irregularities could lead to severe penalties, including fines, suspension of the company’s license, and further audits into its operations.

Aviation consultant who did not wants us to publish his name  reveal the importance of strict compliance in the industry.

“Flight logs are fundamental for ensuring accountability and safety. These allegations, if true, compromise the integrity of not just Executive Air but also the broader aviation ecosystem,” He said.

This incident highlights a potential gap in oversight by CAAZ, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of aviation regulations. The aviation community and the public now await further updates as investigations progress.

Mnangagwa Thugs Attack Chiwenga Top Ally

By Munacho Gwamanda- President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s allies are pushing for the expulsion of renegade war veteran and Zanu-PF Central Committee member Blessed Geza, accusing him of undermining the party leadership.

Geza, a key ally of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, has emerged as one of the few within Zanu-PF openly challenging Mnangagwa’s push to extend his rule beyond the agreed two terms.

His stance has put him on a collision course with Mnangagwa’s loyalists, who now seek to silence him through expulsion.

At the heart of the fallout is the unresolved power deal struck between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga following the 2017 coup that ousted Robert Mugabe.

At the time, the agreement was that Mnangagwa would serve two terms and then hand over power to Chiwenga.

However, as Mnangagwa consolidates his grip on power, his camp is now working to extend his term beyond the constitutional limit, effectively sidelining Chiwenga.

This growing rift has fueled tensions within Zanu-PF, with war veterans and other party factions aligning themselves on either side of the divide.

Geza, representing the disgruntled war veterans, has taken a bold stand, arguing that Mnangagwa must honor the initial power-sharing agreement and step aside for Chiwenga.

In Mashonaland West, the recommendation to expel Geza was made at a meeting held at North Court in Zvimba East Constituency, where thousands of party supporters gathered, from grassroots members to senior officials.

During the meeting, Zanu-PF Politburo member and Minister of Justice, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs Ziyambi Ziyambi led the calls for Geza’s removal, accusing him of abusing his position in the party to challenge Mnangagwa’sauthority.

“Individuals are allowed to air their grievances democratically, but using the party’s name to attack our leadership is unacceptable,” Ziyambi said. “The attack on President Mnangagwa shows that Geza does not respect the party’sconstitution, which requires members to be loyal to the leadership.”

He further warned that Geza’s actions would not be tolerated and insisted that anyone who wished to challenge Mnangagwa should wait until the party’s elective congress in 2027.

Geza’s refusal to support Mnangagwa’s extended rule has deepened existing factional battles within Zanu-PF.

His absence from crucial party meetings, including the Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) and Central Committee sessions, has been interpreted as defiance.

Provincial chairperson Mary Mliswa-Chikoka described his stance as treasonous and insisted that Mashonaland West province was fully behind Mnangagwa.

“If Geza wants to attack our President, he should leave Zanu-PF and oppose him from outside. He does not represent the voice of Mashonaland West,” she said.

Zanu-PF’s Women’s League and Youth League also echoed the calls for Geza’s expulsion, with Provincial Youth Chairperson Tapiwa Masenda warning that the party’s vanguard would not tolerate any opposition to Mnangagwa’sleadership.

Mnangagwa’s continued snubbing of Chiwenga and his camp signals a clear intention to eliminate any remaining threats to his leadership within Zanu-PF.

The move against Geza is just one example of a broader strategy to neutralize opposition within the party, ensuring that Mnangagwa remains unchallenged.

Another New University On The Cards

By Munacho Gwamanda-The government has approved a proposal by the Brethren in Christ Church (BICC) to establish the University of Matopo, adding yet another institution to Zimbabwe’s growing list of universities.

The Higher Education Quality Assurance Committee (HEQAC) of the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE) granted the church permission to proceed with the project.

BICC, which currently runs several mission schools, including Matopo High School, Mtshabezi High School, and Wanezi High School, will now expand its footprint into tertiary education.

With this development, Matabeleland South Province will see its number of universities rise to three, joining Solusi University and Gwanda State University.

In a letter addressed to Professor Henry Sibanda, chairperson of the University of Matopo Trust (UMT), ZIMCHE Chief Executive Officer Professor Kuzvinetsa Dzvimbo confirmed that the provisional registration for the university is valid from January 2025 to January 2026.

“We are pleased to inform you that the application by the proposed University of Matopo for registration was approved by HEQAC of ZIMCHE. The proposed University of Matopo is hereby granted provisional registration, which shall be valid for 12 months from January 10, 2025, to January 11, 2026.”

The provisional registration allows the institution to develop physical facilities, assemble academic resources, and submit academic programs for ZIMCHE’s consideration and approval.

However, Prof. Dzvimbo emphasised that the university cannot begin recruiting students until it receives further approval.

Before the provisional registration expires, the University of Matopo must apply for full accreditation by submitting the required documents and paying the prescribed fees.

The establishment of the University of Matopo comes at a time when Zimbabwe’s higher education sector is rapidly expanding.

The country now has more than 20 universities, including state-owned and private institutions.

Public universities include the University of Zimbabwe, Midlands State University, and the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), among others.

Despite the growth in the number of universities, the sector faces severe challenges, particularly concerning the welfare of lecturers.

While new universities continue to emerge, lecturers at existing institutions are struggling under worsening economic conditions.

Many academics are forced to supplement their incomes through side businesses or leave for better-paying jobs abroad.

The ongoing brain drain has led to shortages of qualified personnel in critical areas, affecting the quality of education.

University staff have repeatedly protested over poor salaries, with some earning wages far below the cost of living.

In recent years, some institutions have struggled to pay salaries on time, leaving lecturers demoralized.

Higher education stakeholders have questioned whether Zimbabwe’s focus on expanding universities is sustainable, given the financial struggles facing existing institutions.

Critics argue that resources should be directed toward improving the quality of education, retaining qualified lecturers, and addressing infrastructure shortages before new universities are established.

ZIMRA Officers Nabbed Over Shady Car Importation Deals

By A Correspondent

Two Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) officers stationed at Victoria Falls have been charged with criminal abuse of office following allegations of facilitating the illegal importation of motor vehicles.

Philip Kuvenga and Rangariraishe Zingwe, both customs officers at the Victoria Falls Border Post, are accused of unlawfully assisting in the importation of 20 vehicles older than ten years, a violation of Statutory Instrument 54 of 2024. The alleged offenses are said to have taken place between January and December 2024.

According to the prosecution, the accused individuals accepted documents from clients both electronically and manually. They then manipulated vehicle valuation processes, altered chassis numbers, and submitted these falsified documents to their supervisor for approval. The manipulation was reportedly aimed at deceiving the supervisor during the vehicle age verification process.

Once the altered documents were approved, the officers allegedly entered the correct chassis numbers into the ASYCUDA World System. They are also said to have modified physical valuation sheets or replaced the original documents with the corrected ones before finalizing the processing of the vehicles.

Additionally, the officers are accused of releasing the vehicles without recording them in the release register or ensuring proper registration and insurance, as required by station procedures.

The fraudulent activities came to light when a vehicle was found to be registered despite not having physically arrived in Zimbabwe. An investigation was launched, leading to the arrest of the two officers.

Jenarari Finds Warmth In Church

By A Correspondent

Vice President General (Retired) Dr. Constantino Chiwenga, a key figure in Zimbabwe’s political landscape, is finding solace in the church amidst escalating tensions within the ruling party, Zanu PF. As the battle for succession intensifies, Chiwenga’s position has come under scrutiny, with growing whispers that he may be a stumbling block to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s bid for a third term in office. While Mnangagwa’s supporters push for a 2030 agenda that extends his leadership, Chiwenga’s influence and loyalty to his principles are raising questions about the future direction of the party.

In a significant personal moment, Chiwenga was recently inducted into the Roman Catholic Guilds at the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception at the House of Nazareth in Harare. This event, marked by his wife Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga and children, highlighted the Vice President’s deep connection to his faith, which has been a guiding force throughout his life.

Speaking to the media after the ceremony, Chiwenga spoke passionately about the role of the Catholic Church in shaping his character and guiding his service to the nation. “I was baptized soon after my birth on the 2nd of July 1956 and I have been a Catholic ever since. Fast forward, when I went to the war of liberation in 1973, I never stopped my Catholicism. I went to war with my rosary and I came back with it,” Chiwenga said. His statement is a testament to the enduring strength of his faith, which he says has been integral to both his personal and professional life.

For Chiwenga, the church has been a steadfast support system through various trials. The guild system within the Catholic Church encourages members to deepen their faith and build a strong sense of community, values which Chiwenga aligns with his approach to leadership. He emphasized that the church plays a key role in promoting national cohesion, unity, and peace—values he believes are essential to Zimbabwe’s development.

Chiwenga’s commitment to the church and his strong sense of moral duty appear to guide his approach to governance. His routine, which includes arriving early to work and staying committed to his faith, seems to reflect a man dedicated to both his country and his belief system. This blend of personal conviction and professional dedication is perhaps what sets Chiwenga apart in Zimbabwe’s increasingly complex political environment.

However, as Zanu PF’s internal struggles over succession heat up, Chiwenga finds himself at the center of the storm. His supporters argue that his military background, leadership experience, and commitment to Zimbabwe’s sovereignty make him a natural successor to Mnangagwa. Yet, Mnangagwa’s allies are pushing for him to extend his rule beyond the constitutional limits, with the 2030 agenda serving as the rallying point for those who wish to see the President remain in power.

As the nation watches these developments unfold, Chiwenga’s public return to his religious roots may be an attempt to find balance in the midst of political turbulence. Whether or not the church can provide him with the guidance needed to navigate this volatile situation remains to be seen, but it is clear that Chiwenga’s faith continues to serve as a cornerstone of his leadership.

In the coming months, Zimbabwe will likely see an intensification of political maneuvering within Zanu PF, with Chiwenga’s role in the succession battle likely to remain a pivotal topic of discussion. As the church serves as a source of solace for the Vice President, it may also play an unexpected role in the unfolding political drama.

Zanu PF Leaves Learners In Limbo After “Stealing” BEAM Funds

By A Correspondent

In a troubling development, the ruling Zanu PF party has been accused of hijacking the Basic Education Assistance Module (BEAM) in Masvingo Province, with government insiders revealing that well-connected individuals are now benefiting from the programme intended to assist vulnerable students.

The BEAM programme, which was created to help financially disadvantaged students access education, has long been a lifeline for many families in Zimbabwe.

However, sources within the Ministry of Education have disclosed that influential figures are now using their power to redirect the benefits of the programme to their own advantage.

“The BEAM programme has become chaotic. Government is struggling to fund and above all, those associated with Zanu PF are seizing the BEAM Programme. The whole thing is disastrous,” said a school head, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Education in Zimbabwe is among the most expensive in Africa, and as a result, over 500,000 primary and secondary school learners have dropped out due to financial constraints. BEAM was originally intended to alleviate this burden by offering financial assistance to students from poor families.

Unfortunately, the programme has struggled with inadequate funding, and now, with political figures allegedly exploiting it for personal gain, many vulnerable students are being left without the help they desperately need.

Despite promises from the government to improve education access, the constitutional guarantee of free primary education and affordable secondary education remains largely unfulfilled. As the government’s ability to fund BEAM continues to wane, the situation grows increasingly dire for families already facing financial hardship.

The situation in Masvingo Province is just one example of how the political elite’s involvement is threatening the future of education for Zimbabwe’s underprivileged students. The misappropriation of resources from programmes meant to help the poor only deepens the divide between the wealthy and those in need, undermining the goal of providing equal access to education for all.

As the crisis deepens, questions remain about how the government will address this growing scandal and whether real change will ever come for the students who depend on BEAM to stay in school.

Geza Says Mnangagwa Is A Korokoza

By A Correspondent

In a stunning turn of events, war veterans, led by Blessing Geza, have issued a public apology for their role in helping Emmerson Mnangagwa ascend to power during the 2017 coup that ousted Robert Mugabe. Geza, a Zanu PF Central Committee member, expressed deep regret at a press conference held in Harare on Sunday.

“I am deeply sorry and with hindsight, I regret this,” Geza said, visibly emotional. “We replaced Mugabe with a monster, a korokoza,” he added, using the Shona term for a small-scale gold panner, which he used to describe Mnangagwa’s leadership as opportunistic and destructive.

Geza went on to criticize Mnangagwa for what he sees as a dynastic grab for power, stating that the president has handed over the reins of state power to his wife and children. “Mnangagwa is busy building a family empire. We helped in a big way, and today he says we are bad,” Geza lamented.

His remarks have drawn attention to the growing disillusionment among some war veterans who were once strong supporters of Mnangagwa’s leadership. These comments also suggest that the country’s political landscape is seeing increasing internal divisions, with those who once helped bring Mnangagwa to power now questioning his leadership.

The war veteran’s apology adds another layer to the complex and often volatile political situation in Zimbabwe, where many are increasingly disillusioned with the direction in which the country is heading.

Wolves Target Zimbabwean Midfielder

Zimbabwean midfielder Marshall Munetsi is reportedly on the verge of joining Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 28-year-old, hailing from Mabvuku, has been a standout performer for French Ligue 1 side Stade Reims, netting 15 goals since his move from Orlando Pirates in 2020.

With Wolves currently struggling near the bottom of the Premier League table in 17th place, securing just 19 points from 24 games, the club is looking to strengthen its squad during the ongoing transfer window to boost their chances of avoiding relegation.

French outlet Foot Mercato claims that Munetsi is high on Wolves’ radar, and the club, managed by Vitor Pereira, is reportedly prepared to make a substantial offer to Reims for the Zimbabwean international, whose contract runs through to 2027.

If the transfer goes through, Munetsi would become the second Zimbabwean player to represent Wolves, following his national teammate Tawanda Chirewa.

Chiwenga Seeks Solace From Church As Infighting Continues In Zanu PF

Magaya Cries In Church As Fraud Scandal Deepens

Magaya crying in church

By Munacho GwamandaControversial preacher Walter Magaya, facing possible jail time for academic fraud, broke down in tears during a church service at his Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries in Harare over the weekend.

Magaya is under investigation by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) for allegedly submitting a fake University of South Africa (UNISA) diploma in his bid to contest the ZIFA presidency and in a High Court challenge.

UNISA has since denied issuing the qualification, confirming that Magaya was neither a student nor a graduate of the institution.

Despite the scandal, thousands of his followers, including international visitors, rallied behind him.

As he entered the auditorium, the congregation erupted into a song, “Siyanai naye Magaya,” expressing solidarity with their embattled leader.

Overwhelmed by the support, Magaya knelt in prayer, visibly emotional.

While he declined to discuss the controversy, his followers dismissed the allegations as a smear campaign.

Overseer Admire Mango, a senior PHD official, highlighted the church’s growing international influence, while a congregant, Trynos Mazvivinga, insisted that Magaya’s failed ZIFA bid did not shake their faith.

Magaya, who built his empire on faith healing, miracle claims, and business ventures, has frequently faced accusations of fraud.

In 2016, he was arrested for falsely claiming to have discovered an HIV/AIDS cure.

He later withdrew the claim under government pressure. His failed housing project also left thousands of congregants without the promised properties, leading to legal disputes.

His attempt to enter football administration raised further skepticism. Critics saw his ZIFA presidency bid as another ploy to extend his influence under false pretences.

ZACC has since requested documents from ZIFA and the High Court to verify his academic claims.

If found guilty of forging qualifications, Magaya could face criminal charges, further damaging his already controversial reputation.

Mai Praise Spotted In Mbare

Dear Editor. I spotted Mai Praise of the Makandiwa-magic era.

Preacher, Emmanuel Makandiwa grew up with his uncle, a tsikamutanda in Muzarabani before connecting with another well known powerful witch doctor in Mbare called Mai Praise (who the Herald called, “a vagrant-street woman, prophetess” around 2010-11.

Since then, from nowhere, her shrine in Mbare got shut, and she was taken into the preacher’s mansions, where she just disappeared from the world scene. Her last sighting was inside Prophet Makandiwa’s church meeting.

Where is Mai Praise now, UFIC congregation?

How The Presidential Heifer Program For Youths Was Abused

By A Correspondent | A Presidential Heifer Distribution Program was launched at a farm belonging to Douglas Kwande, a businessman based in Gweru and a close associate of the President.

The launch took place in Kwekwe District in February 2022, attended by ZANU-PF bigwigs, youth leadership, and provincial leaders from all ten provinces.

At the event, healthy pedigree heifer cattle were paraded before the delegates, showcasing what was intended for distribution.

Under the program, each provincial youth leadership was allocated 80 heifers, which were to be distributed to beneficiaries across various districts. The initiative was designed as a revolving distribution program, aimed at sustaining youth empowerment through cattle breeding.

However, it took nearly two years for the youth to receive the promised heifers—and when they did, it became apparent that the original healthy pedigree heifers had been swapped with undernourished, low-quality rural heifers.

The Heist: How the Youths Were Deceived

When the youth leadership finally accessed the heifers, they realized that what had been promised and what they received were vastly different.
• The healthy pedigree heifers from the launch had been replaced with malnourished rural cattle.
• Many of the weakened heifers died during transportation to their supposed beneficiaries.
• The youth leadership, under pressure to accept the inferior cattle, had no choice but to take them, even though many never reached their intended recipients.

Investigations Reveal the Scandal

An investigation into what happened to the original heifers uncovered a well-orchestrated scheme involving high-ranking individuals:
1. The two-year delay in distribution allowed Douglas Kwande and Local Government Minister July Moyo, in consultation with the President, to purchase cheaper rural heifers to replace the original pedigree heifers. These rural heifers were significantly cheaper, allowing them to pocket the difference.
2. A farm in the Lowveld was acquired by the First Family through the office of Masvingo Minister of State, Ezra Chadzamira.
3. Douglas Kwande then approached an indigenous cattle breeder, Victor Mhanga, based in Somabhula, to hold the original pedigree heifers at his farm before they were secretly moved to the First Family’s newly acquired Lowveld farm.
4. The pedigree heifers were later transported to the Lowveld, managed by Mhanga, who was given a Toyota 4×4 truck to facilitate his frequent travel between Gweru and the Lowveld for cattle management.
5. Kwande kept a significant number of the stolen heifers for himself, while the bulk was delivered to the Lowveld farm, now controlled by the First Family.
6. To complete the cover-up, Kwande and the President have since bought pedigree bulls to start a private cattle breeding program using the ill-gotten heifers that were meant for youth empowerment.

Observation: A Presidential Pattern of Corruption?

This heifer scandal is yet another example of how presidential programs, supposedly aimed at empowering the people, end up benefiting the President and his close allies.

Instead of uplifting the youth, state resources were once again siphoned for personal gain, with the Presidential Heifer Program turning into a personal cattle empire for the ruling elite.

This scandal raises critical questions about the true nature of government-run empowerment programs—and whether they are genuine initiatives or simply vehicles for high-level corruption.

Chiwenga Seeks Divine Backing

By James Gwati-Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has explained his attendance and induction into the Roman Catholic Guilds at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Harare this past Sunday, a move that has sparked intense speculation about his political and personal trajectory.

Dressed in formal attire before donning the guild’s robe with the help of his wife, Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga, the former military general’s public embrace of his Catholic faith comes at a time of heightened political tension within ZANU-PF, where he remains locked in a power struggle with President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Addressing reporters after the Sunday church service, Chiwenga insisted that his faith has been a lifelong commitment:

“I was baptized soon after my birth on July 2, 1956, and I have been a Catholic ever since. When I went to the war of liberation in 1973, I never stopped my Catholicism. I went to war with my rosary, and I came back with it. If I am not mistaken, I am one of the first people to be in the office, I come to work early, and my commitment to the church serves as a motivation to my work.”

Catholic guilds are groups of faithful who unite to serve their community through religious devotion and charitable works.

Chiwenga’s induction into this structured environment raises questions about whether his public display of faith is genuine or a calculated political manoeuvre.

Chiwenga’s religious display comes amid ongoing tensions with Mnangagwa, his onetime ally turned political rival.

Their relationship, which began as a strategic military-civilian alliance, has deteriorated into a high-stakes battle for dominance within ZANU-PF.

As a career soldier, Chiwenga played a decisive role in Zimbabwe’s political history.

Rising through the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) ranks, he was instrumental in the 2017 coup—officially termed Operation Restore Legacy—which ousted Robert Mugabe and installed Mnangagwa as President.

In return, Chiwenga was rewarded with the Vice Presidency and the powerful Ministry of Defence portfolio, cementing the military’s political role.

However, cracks in their alliance soon emerged as Mnangagwa moved to consolidate power, systematically sidelining military-linked figures and appointing loyalists in key security positions.

Chiwenga, representing the military-backed faction of ZANU-PF, has increasingly found himself isolated.

The rivalry has escalated over the years, with political purges, strategic appointments, and even suspected assassination attempts.

Chiwenga’s unexplained illnesses, which forced him to seek prolonged medical treatment in China, fueled speculation that he was being targeted.

Within ruling party circles, Chiwenga is seen as Mnangagwa’s most formidable internal threat.

Some analysts believe he is positioning himself for a takeover—either through the 2028 elections or an internal power shift within ZANU-PF.

Chiwenga’s decision to align himself with the Roman Catholic Church could be an attempt to broaden his appeal beyond the military and political elite.

The Catholic Church remains a powerful institution in Zimbabwe, often playing a critical role in political and social discourse.

For a man whose public image has been defined by military command and political battles, his sudden embrace of faith suggests a shift—whether genuine or strategic remains to be seen.

Is Chiwenga seeking divine intervention in his political fight, or is this another calculated move in Zimbabwe’s high-stakes power game? Only time will tell.

Magaya Faces Jail

By Munacho GwamandaControversial preacher Walter Magaya is under investigation by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) over allegations that he submitted a fraudulent diploma from the University of South Africa (UNISA) in his bid to contest for the ZIFA presidency and in a High Court challenge.

The founder of the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries and owner of Yadah Stars Football Club, has built his empire on faith healing, miracle claims, and business ventures.

However, his credibility has often been questioned due to past scandals, ranging from fake prophecies to unfulfilled investment promises.

ZACC has written to ZIFA, requesting the documents Magaya submitted when he applied to run for president in last month’s ZIFA executive committee elections.

The anti-corruption body has also reached out to the Judicial Service Commission for records of his High Court application, where he challenged ZIFA’s decision to bar him from contesting due to his lack of five O-Level passes.

At the heart of the probe is a purported marketing diploma from UNISA, which the South African university has categorically denied ever issuing to Magaya.

In a statement released on January 29, UNISA stated:

“We do not have Walter Magaya either as a student or a graduate. Any certificate/s he produces which he claims to be from UNISA is/are therefore fraudulent.”

Despite UNISA’s confirmation, Magaya had presented a certified copy of the diploma—verified by Waterfalls police—to ZIFA as proof that he possessed a qualification exceeding the minimum requirement of five O-Level passes.

Magaya has long been a polarising figure, frequently accused of misleading his followers through staged miracles, false prophecies, and fraudulent business schemes.

Magaya has claimed to heal people of chronic illnesses, including HIV/AIDS and cancer, through his anointed oils and prayers.

In 2016, he was arrested and charged for allegedly falsely advertising a cure for HIV/AIDS—a claim dismissed by medical experts.

He later retracted the statement after pressure from the government and health authorities.

In another high-profile case, Magaya predicted that Zimbabwe would experience economic prosperity within a short time, a prophecy that failed to materialise.

His claims of foreseeing national events have often been met with skepticism, with many accusing him of fabricating or recycling vague predictions.

Magaya has also been accused of defrauding congregants and investors through dubious business ventures.

In 2019, he launched a housing project in which thousands of people paid deposits for residential stands.

However, years later, many complainants have yet to receive the promised properties, with some taking legal action against him.

As the owner of Yadah Stars Football Club, Magaya has positioned himself as a major figure in Zimbabwean football.

However, he has made several exaggerated claims about transforming the local football scene—promises that have largely remained unfulfilled.

Critics saw his attempt to contest the ZIFA presidency as another attempt to extend his influence under false pretences.

With ZACC actively pursuing the case, Magaya could face criminal charges if found guilty of forging academic qualifications.

He could face imprisonment for fraud and misrepresentation if convicted, further tarnishing his already controversial reputation.

Marshall Munetsi Linked with Premier League Move

Sports Correspondent

Zanu PF Hijacks Basic Education Assistance Programme, Leaving Vulnerable Learners Struggling

Wrong Blessed Called To Police Law And Order Over War Vets Presser

The Zimbabwe Republic Police Law and Order have invited journalist Blessed Mhlanga for questioning following an explosive press conference where former Zanu PF legislator and central committee member Blessed Geza launched a vitriol against President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s 2030 bid.

Posting on social media, Mhlanga said; “I have been invited to Law and Order Harare Central. The reasons of the invitation have not been explained to me. I will therefore be presenting myself this afternoon at 3 pm, with my Lawyers.”

Blessed Geza yesterday addressed a press conference where he warned Mnangagwa that his 2030 bid will not succeed while ripping into his campaigners including Tatenda Mavetera and Daniel Garwe.

Zanu PF In Move to Extend Mnangagwa’s Term Without Referendum?

By A Correspondent

Zanu PF has taken its controversial resolution to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term beyond 2028 a step further, with party officials asserting that there is no need for a referendum to amend the Constitution. This comes after the party raised the issue at its Annual National People’s Conference in Bulawayo last October, where it was decided that the constitutional changes required to extend Mnangagwa’s rule would be implemented through Parliament.

At a Mashonaland Central Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting on Saturday, Zanu PF National Political Commissar Munyaradzi Machacha announced that the resolution is now in the implementation phase. “At a party policy meeting last Monday, we agreed to allow the Parliament of Zimbabwe to implement Resolution Number One as presented at the conference. There is no going back in implementing the resolution,” Machacha declared.

The Zanu PF proposal seeks to extend Mnangagwa’s presidency by postponing the upcoming national elections to 2030 via a Constitutional Amendment, bypassing the need for a national referendum. This would allow the current president to remain in office for a further term, despite the fact that the Constitution stipulates a maximum of two terms for any president.

Machacha, speaking firmly in support of the resolution, stressed that those opposed to the idea should have voiced their concerns during the party’s conference or through provincial and district coordinating committee meetings. “Those who are against the resolution had their chance to raise their objections at the conference or at the relevant meetings. Now, we are moving forward with the implementation,” he added.

This decision has sparked widespread concern among opposition groups and civil society, who view the move as an attempt to violate the Constitution and further entrench Zanu PF’s hold on power. Critics argue that by circumventing a referendum, the party is undermining the democratic process and disregarding the will of the people.

As the Zanu PF leadership pushes ahead with the constitutional amendment process, the question of whether this move will be met with significant opposition or legal challenges remains to be seen. For now, it is clear that the ruling party is determined to ensure that Mnangagwa stays in power beyond the 2028 term limit.

From Power to Prayer: Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s Steadfast Journey to Roman Catholicism

By Shelton Muchena, United Kingdom

Zimbabwe’s political landscape is currently in muddy waters with the country’s two most powerful men determined to out witty each other.

The other one has taken his farm as an area where political missiles are strategically launched towards his deputy, while the latter has gone in to the synagogue to also launch his arrows, albeit from the spiritual standpoint.

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s profound spiritual journey is a testament to the transformative power of faith. A powerful military leader and then a prominent figure in the country’s political landscape, Chiwenga found solace and purpose in an unlikely place: the Roman Catholic Church and his party.

Chiwenga’s entry into politics was not driven by faith but by duty. As the head of Zimbabwe’s military, he played a key role in the political coup that led to the ouster of former president Robert Mugabe in late 2017. Amidst the country’s political strife and problems, he felt empty inside, cut off from the spiritual guidance he had known since childhood.

“I often wondered deeply about purpose and morality,” Chiwenga says. “In the midst of political turmoil, I searched for something deeper – something lasting.”

Building on the teachings of his youth, he returned to the Roman Catholic faith that had shaped his early life. He began attending Mass regularly, which eventually led him to join the Roman Catholic Church, a group focused on community development, service, and spiritual growth.

The Roman Catholic Church became a sanctuary for Chiwenga, providing him not only with spiritual nourishment but also with a platform for action outside of politics. It was in this organisation that he found a diverse group of people united in faith and committed to apostolic service in the church and the wider community.

He said, “The organisation taught me the importance of humility and service. “In politics, we often focus on power and authority, but in leadership, I learned that true leadership comes from serving others and spreading love,” he said.

Through active participation in various programs, Chiwenga began to understand the role of faith in solving social problems. From health campaigns to educational programs, the party’s work resonated with his desire to contribute positively to society. He recalled the efforts made to help vulnerable children and families. His experiences touched his heart and increased his desire to serve people beyond politics. Chiwenga’s entry into the Roman Catholic party not only strengthened his faith but also changed his perspective on leadership. Describe a time of reflection during organisational meetings, which led to communal prayer and written discussions for a culturally responsible future. The change began to permeate political action.

“I now often seek God’s guidance when making decisions,” he says. “It’s not just about leadership; it’s about leading with compassion and integrity, putting the welfare of the people first.”

His story has inspired many of his countrymen, sending a message that faith can be a powerful force for change and unity, even in the midst of the most oppressive power structures. Chiwenga’s journey is an example of how faith and leadership can be combined, emphasising the importance of integrity in public service.

As a member of the Roman Catholic Party, Vice President Chiwenga has played two roles: as a government leader committed to improving the country’s living standards and as a servant of God committed to uplifting the poor. It serves as a reminder that faith is not a private matter but a call to action.

“I believe that leadership is not just about power, but about the love you show to others,” he says. “The organization taught me to lead with my heart, and in doing so, I found my future,” he says.

Through his spiritual journey, Constantino Chiwenga not only rediscovered his faith but also demonstrated his role as an agent of positive change, illuminating the path for others to follow. In a world where politics and power are often divided, his story stands as a beacon of unity, demonstrating the power of faith, work, and community to unite.

Chiwenga, who remains vice president and a committed member of the Roman Catholic Party, remains committed to promoting a culture of compassion and hope in Zimbabwe, demonstrating that the true measure of leadership is not in title but in the love and service he shows to others.

Donald Trump Withdraws All Funding to South Africa Over Land Expropriation Act

By A Correspondent

In a bold move that has stirred international controversy, US President Donald Trump has announced the cessation of all funding to South Africa in response to the country’s implementation of the Land Expropriation Act.

According to the Limpopo Newspaper, Trump also issued a stark warning that further actions might be taken against the South African government if the law is not reversed.

The Land Expropriation Act, signed into law last month by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, has sparked considerable debate both locally and abroad.

The Act grants the government the power to expropriate land without compensation for the sake of public interest, with the aim of addressing historical land imbalances in South Africa.

President Trump’s decision to withdraw funding is a direct consequence of this controversial legislation.

“The US will no longer provide any financial assistance to South Africa while this dangerous policy is in place,” a US government source said.

“It is imperative that governments respect property rights, and this new law undermines that principle.”

The South African government, led by President Ramaphosa, has defended the Land Expropriation Act, emphasizing that it is a necessary step to redress the legacy of apartheid and address economic inequality.

However, critics, including Trump, argue that the policy could lead to widespread economic instability and hurt both local and foreign investments.

War Veteran Geza Says We Replaced Robert Mugabe With A Monster

By A Correspondent

In a stunning turn of events, war veterans, led by Blessed Geza, have issued a public apology for their role in helping Emmerson Mnangagwa ascend to power during the 2017 coup that ousted Robert Mugabe.

Kadoma Prophets Stone Local Man To Death

By Munacho Gwamanda-Two Kadoma dased self-styled prophets allegedly stoned to death a neighbour over a misunderstanding in religious beliefs last Friday.

The two who reside in Kadoma’s Mupamombe suburb
stoned Sheperd Mpofu to death while lying on the ground after being knocked over by a clay pot thrown by Misheck Muperiwa (22) and his colleague Costain Tshuma (28).

Both are on the run.
Acting provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Effort Chapoto, said that on Friday last week, at around 7am, Muperiwa and Tshuma, both of Kadoma, were conducting prayers around the houses surrounding their shrine.
“The two were moving around scattering ashes and charcoal which they said were holy and had powers of cleansing and protecting their shrine as well as the area of Mupamombe from evil spirits.
“The exercise did not go down well with the now deceased who questioned the two.
“A misunderstanding arose as the now deceased tried to block the two from further carrying their mission and this deteriorated into a fierce battle,” he said.
Muperiwa hit Mr Mpofu in the face with a clay pot (mbiya), which smashed as it struck, and he fell.
The two then pelted him with stones until he was unconscious.
One of Mr Mpofu’s neighbours, Simbarashe Gombera, tried to stop Muperiwa and Tshuma, but was also pelted with the stones. Mr Gombera then rushed to make a report at the Ingezi police base.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Kadoma and Criminal Investigations Department (CID) details attended the scene but discovered that the body of Mr Mpofu had been rushed to Kadoma General Hospital in an attempt to save his life.

He was, however, pronounced dead on arrival, and the body was taken to the same hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

ZACC Goes After Magaya Over Fake UNISA Diploma

HARARE – The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has launched a fraud investigation against Walter Magaya after doubt was cast over the authenticity of a diploma he submitted to ZIFA and the Harare High Court.

ZACC has written to ZIFA requesting documents submitted by Magaya when he applied to run for president in last month’s elections for a new ZIFA executive committee.

The anti-graft body has also reached out to the Judicial Service Commission seeking the record of proceedings in Magaya’s High Court application challenging ZIFA’s decision to bar him from the elections on the basis that he did not possess 5 O’ Levels.

ZACC sent out the requests for information on January 31.

At the centre of the investigation is a marketing diploma purportedly obtained at UNISA, which the university insists it never conferred on Magaya.

Magaya had submitted a copy of the diploma, certified as a true copy of the original by Waterfalls police, to argue that he had a higher qualification than the O’ Level passes required for the ZIFA job.

UNISA said it does not have Walter Magaya “either as a student or a graduate.”

“Any certificate he produces which he claims to be from UNISA is therefore fraudulent,” the university said in a January 29 statement.

Magaya, a self-styled prophet and founder of the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministry, is the owner of Yadah Stars which plays in the Premier Soccer League.

240 Couples Graduate From Toose Program in Chiredzi

CHIREDZI – A total of 240 couples graduated last week after completing six months of intensive training under the Toose project, a family well-being initiative spearheaded by Plan International Zimbabwe and the World Food Programme (WFP) in nine wards of Chiredzi urban.

The colorful graduation ceremony, marked by role plays and heartfelt testimonies from participants, was the fourth since the project began in 2020.

The Toose project initially started as a cash-based transfer program designed to cushion Chiredzi urban families from the food crisis brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and recurrent droughts in Zimbabwe’s lowveld region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chiredzi Deputy District Coordinator Gift Machukele, who was the guest of honor, commended the initiative for its role in building stronger families and communities.

“Let me hasten to thank men and women who have dedicated their lives to family well-being, reduction of intimate partner violence, and all forms of violence against women and girls. What is most pleasing about this graduation is that it paves the way for community development because socially and economically empowered families result in progressive communities,” said Machukele.

Participants who shared their experiences testified to the program’s life-changing impact, particularly in improving communication and strengthening relationships within their families.

“I was a person who never planned together with his family. If I got money, I would not take it home—I had girlfriends everywhere and never gave my wife attention. But now, I am a changed person. I consider my wife first and do my best to please her. Even my money—she will now take charge of my wallet,” said Onias Mukwazhe.

Another participant, Tarisai Toperesu, admitted that before joining Toose, he rarely spent quality time with his family. However, the training helped him understand the importance of communication and joint decision-making.

“I learned about communication, especially positive time. We need to break with our culture that says the father and mother do not have time together. I found positive time to be a grinding mill that grinds all household problems. From now on, I will sit down with my wife, make plans, and agree together toward our family vision,” said Toperesu.

Christina Muyambo, a participant from Tshovani, shared how the program helped her overcome anger and resentment caused by domestic abuse.

“Due to the abuse I suffered from my husband, I struggled to forgive people and sometimes took out my anger on my children. But since I started attending Toose sessions, I have learned to forgive my husband and to avoid mistreating my children,” said Muyambo.

Toose focuses on strengthening families through various interventions, including social empowerment sessions and economic initiatives such as Internal Savings and Lending Schemes (ISALS), locally known as mukando. Participants receive training on critical topics such as effective communication in relationships, visioning for a happy family, power dynamics, and positive time management.

ZANU PF HQ Staff Chase Away Justice Minister Ziyambi As Press Conference Expelling Geza Is Cancelled

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | ZANU PF seniors at their main base in the capital have chased off a large group of party members preparing for a 2030 agenda press conference to expel controversial war veterans, scheduled for today, ZimEye can reveal.

ZANU PF Mash West members led by chairperson Mary Mliswa and Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi were scheduled to arrive at the party’s Harare Head Quarters, at 2pm for a press conference to fire Central Committee member, Blessed “Bombshell” Geza.

ZANU PF HQ

@ZANUPF_Official staff members at Harare HQ have however told the group to do it elsewhere.

Sources tell ZimEye following the denial, they have relocated to Zvimba East, Northcourt Mt Hampden premises (next to Charles Prince Airport). The leaders behind this initiative are accused of receiving USD11million for the purpose, according to other sources.

The prolific war veteran, Blessed Geza, just yesterday called for Emmerson Mnangagwa’s resignation with immediate effect, accusing him of leadership failure.

The decision by ZANU PF HQ staff members to deny Ziyambi was done by a group of people who regard Geza as one of the chief custodians of the liberation struggle.

A comment from Mary Mliswa could not be obtained at the time of writing.

Her colleague, Ziyambi is known for instructing at a recent party conference that members must pretend that Mnangagwa is not part of the call to extend his term to 2030.

2 weeks ago, he spoke on video saying when he next meets the president, he will say the call to change the constitution is “something created in our rural areas,” when the truth is it was actually launched at Emmerson Mnangagwa’s own farm, Precabe in the ZANU PF leader’s presence in January.

Tempers are boiling in ZANU PF as core members gang up to stop Mnangagwa from changing the country’s constitution following a motion set up by a group of loyalists who include Energy Mutodi. The motion seeks to cancel 2028 elections and make Mnangagwa head of state till 2030.

Mnangagwa last year said anyone seeking “to be like me” needs to first go through the death row and drink poison before becoming president. His statements have triggered a shift of support and last week Monday a large crowd denounced his threats, as party members sang, “siyanai naye Chiwenga, tiende mberi- leave Chiwenga alone so that we can make progress!”

A line has since been drawn in the sand and the country now has two virtual presidents, one who leads the ganangas(corrupt people) denounced by Constantino Chiwenga at the heroes acre function last Monday, and the other who heads the gandangas- liberators.

country now has two virtual presidents, one who leads the ganangas(corrupt people) denounced by Constantino Chiwenga at the heroes acre function last Monday, and the other who heads the gandangas- liberators.

For how long will the party and country continue under two centres of power?

Wicknell Chivhayo Rubbishes General Chiwenga

By Munacho Gwamanda- Zanu PF sympathizer, a controversial businessman, and convicted fraudster Wicknell Chivhayo has once again defied Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, proceeding with his extravagant financial pledges despite growing political tensions and allegations of corruption.

Chivhayo, a self-styled benefactor known for his ostentatious generosity towards celebrities and public figures, has now shifted his focus to Zimbabwean football, where his involvement in the recent Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) presidential election has sparked widespread controversy.

Chivhayo has long been associated with dubious business dealings, state contracts, and allegations of financial misconduct.

His controversial past includes a 2005 fraud conviction and his involvement in the failed 100-megawatt Gwanda solar project, where he was awarded a US$172 million tender but failed to deliver, despite receiving an advance payment of US$5 million from the Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC).

Despite numerous accusations of corruption and close ties to ruling party elites, Chivhayo has remained a high-profile businessman, often flaunting his wealth on social media and cultivating relationships with influential figures.

Vice President Chiwenga recently issued a stern warning against individuals leveraging their political connections for self-enrichment, condemning them for accumulating wealth through illicit means.

Speaking at the National Heroes Acre last week, Chiwenga—without naming Chivhayo directly—criticized certainfigures within ZANU-PF who had “grown big tummies through corruption.” The remarks were widely interpreted as a direct rebuke of Chivhayo’s activities and his growing influence.

In response, Chivhayo indirectly fired back at Chiwenga, dismissing him as a “failed politician.” His defiance signals a broader power struggle within the ruling elite, with Chivhayo seemingly enjoying protection from other high-ranking officials who benefit from his financial muscle.

Chivhayo’s latest controversy centers around the ZIFA presidential election held on January 25, where he faces accusations of vote-buying.

His financial backing of newly elected ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi has drawn scrutiny, with critics alleging that his promises of US$10 million and 78 brand-new vehicles to ZIFA voting delegates amounted to undue influence.

Despite the backlash, Chivhayo remains defiant. In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), he dismissed the allegations as”baseless and misleading,” arguing that he holds no official role within ZIFA and is not bound by FIFA’s Code of Ethics. He further stated:

“If the losing candidates are so heartbroken, I’m happy to meet them, apologize, and agree on a gentleman’s private settlement, rather than have them tarnish my precious name over unfounded allegations.”

Twine Phiri and Phillemon Machana, the losing candidates in the ZIFA presidential election, have escalated the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), contesting Magwizi’s victory.

Magwizi secured a decisive win with 61 out of 77 votes (80%), while Machana and Phiri received six and four votes, respectively.

In their CAS submission filed on January 29, Phiri and Machana demand the annulment of the election results and call for fresh polls within 30 days.

They further seek to bar Magwizi from contesting again, accusing him of failing to distance himself from external financial backers like Chivhayo.

Their petition highlights alleged breaches of ZIFA statutes, including claims that Youth Minister Tino Machakaire improperly endorsed Magwizi before the election.

Additionally, one delegate reportedly photographed their ballot under duress, raising concerns over the credibility of the voting process.

Phiri and Machana argue that ZIFA statutes mandate immediate reporting of undue influence to FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF), a requirement they claim was blatantly ignored.

If CAS rules in their favor, Zimbabwean football could face further turmoil, potentially leading to FIFA sanctions.

Chivhayo’s continued defiance of Chiwenga and his involvement in the ZIFA elections underscore his enduring influence despite a history of controversy.

As the legal battle unfolds, the case could expose deeper rifts within Zimbabwe’s political and business elite, with Chivhayo seemingly positioning himself as an untouchable figure.

Whether Chiwenga’s warnings will translate into tangible action against him remains to be seen, but for now, Chivhayo’sflamboyant defiance continues to dominate headlines.

Chiwenga Invades Roman Catholic Church Service

James Gwati– Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and his wife, Colonel Miniyothabo, attended a Roman Catholic Church service in Harare on Sunday.

During the church service, Chiwenga joined the Catholic’s guide wing and became a volunteer.

Dressed in formal attire before donning the guild’s robe with the help of his wife, Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga, the former military general attended the service in a display that sparked speculation about his political and personal trajectory.

A Catholic guild is a group of faithful united by their Catholic beliefs, often working together to support their local community.

Some guilds are occupational, while others focus on specific church activities.

Chiwenga’s membership comes at a time of heightened political tension within the ruling ZANU-PF, where he remains locked in a power struggle with President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Chiwenga, a career soldier who rose to become the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), played a pivotal role in Zimbabwe’s political history.

A battle-hardened veteran of the liberation war, he steadily climbed the ranks in the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA), eventually becoming a close ally of then-President Robert Mugabe before turning against him in 2017.

His defining moment came in November 2017, when he led a military coup under the pretense of “restoring order” within ZANU-PF.

Dubbed “Operation Restore Legacy,” the coup ousted Mugabe after 37 years in power, paving the way for Mnangagwa—who had just been fired as Vice President—to assume the presidency.

Chiwenga was rewarded with the Vice Presidency and the powerful post of Minister of Defence, signalling the military’s grip on civilian politics.

Despite their alliance during the coup, Chiwenga’s relationship with Mnangagwa has since soured.

The two men represent different factions within ZANU-PF: Mnangagwa leads the civilian political elite, while Chiwenga embodies the military-backed old guard.

Over the years, their rivalry has played out through political maneuvering, purges, and even suspected assassination attempts.

Chiwenga’s mysterious health ailments, which led him to seek medical treatment in China, fueled speculation that he was being targeted.

At the same time, Mnangagwa has moved to consolidate power by sidelining military-linked figures and appointing loyalists to key positions, including within the security sector.

In ZANU-PF circles, Chiwenga is often viewed as the biggest internal threat to Mnangagwa’s grip on power.

Some analysts believe he is strategically positioning himself to take over through the 2028 elections or another internal party shake-up.

Chiwenga’s decision to publicly embrace his Catholic faith may be more than just a personal commitment—it could also be a calculated political move.

The church holds significant influence in Zimbabwean society, and aligning with religious institutions has long been a tactic for politicians seeking broader appeal beyond their traditional support bases.

For a man who has spent most of his life in the barracks and political corridors, the rare sight of Chiwenga in church adds an intriguing layer to his political manoeuvring.

Gutu East MP Ganyiwa Faces Expulsion From Zanu PF

By A Correspondent

ZANU PF is preparing for a by-election in Gutu East following the expulsion of MP Benjamin Ganyiwa, marking another chapter in the ongoing internal power struggles within the ruling party. The party’s officials have been making the rounds in the constituency, informing supporters of Ganyiwa’s expulsion and upcoming recall from Parliament.

Ganyiwa’s expulsion comes after a disciplinary hearing where he was charged with multiple offenses. He faced four key allegations: failing to control party supporters who attacked leadership on a WhatsApp group, holding unauthorized meetings that defied provincial leadership, and demonstrating insubordination to higher party officials.

The tensions surrounding Ganyiwa’s expulsion are further heightened by ongoing factional divisions within ZANU PF, with factions aligned to both President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga at odds. This ongoing infighting has become a prominent feature of the party’s internal politics, leading to actions like Ganyiwa’s dismissal.

A local ZANU PF official in Gutu East made it clear on Saturday that the party would not tolerate insubordination. “If you don’t respect the party leadership, you are gone,” the official stated. “Ganyiwa is gone, we are preparing for a by-election here.”

Benjamin Ganyiwa’s expulsion is not an isolated case. Roy Bhila, an MP from Chiredzi, is also facing similar actions after appearing before a disciplinary committee. These moves underscore the party’s growing intolerance for any perceived defiance against its leadership, as divisions continue to play out in the public eye.

With the by-election now in the pipeline for Gutu East, the dispute over leadership within ZANU PF is far from over, and it remains to be seen how these internal battles will affect the party’s broader political strategy.

Herald Subtly Positions Chiwenga as Head of State Figure Amid Mnangagwa Rift

By Dorrothy Moyo | ZimEye | Harare, Zimbabwe – Zimbabwe’s state-controlled newspaper, The Herald, has sparked intense political speculation after publishing an article that subtly elevates Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s public image, portraying him as a statesman of presidential stature while downplaying President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s authority.

In an article covering Chiwenga’s induction into the Roman Catholic guild, The Herald meticulously crafted an image of a deeply principled, God-fearing, and hardworking leader, a move that analysts see as a deliberate attempt to prepare the public for a potential transition of power.

Chiwenga as a National Leader: The Subtext in The Herald’s Coverage

Rather than portraying Chiwenga in his capacity as Vice President, the state-run paper framed him as a head-of-state figure, highlighting his commitment to national service, discipline, and Christian values.

Key phrases used in the article emphasize:
• His selfless dedication to the country.
• His discipline and work ethic, suggesting a leader who is first in the office and committed to national duty.
• His spiritual and moral grounding, aligning him with Zimbabwe’s traditional values.

Political analysts argue that these strategic portrayals are rarely accidental in Zimbabwe’s tightly controlled state media. Instead, they reflect a broader political narrative being shaped behind closed doors.

Mnangagwa’s Absence: A Deliberate Omission?

One of the most striking aspects of the article is the complete absence of Mnangagwa’s name or reference to his leadership. In state media, particularly The Herald, major political figures are rarely given significant coverage without some mention of the sitting president to reinforce the established power structure.

By presenting Chiwenga as a dedicated national servant without acknowledging Mnangagwa’s leadership, The Herald has inadvertently—or deliberately—suggested that the Vice President is more aligned with the nation’s values and future.

A Signal of Power Shift?

This latest coverage comes at a time when Mnangagwa is facing growing resistance over his controversial attempt to extend his presidency to 2030 by manipulating the Constitution. Reports of an internal power struggle within ZANU-PF and the military have intensified, with Chiwenga seen as the primary contender to challenge Mnangagwa’s rule.

Several key observations suggest that this article is part of a larger effort to reshape public perception:
1. Chiwenga’s Portrayal as a Statesman: The article focused on his leadership qualities rather than his party role, a stark contrast to past portrayals of Mnangagwa as the sole authority.
2. Alignment with the Church: Zimbabwe’s history has shown that political leaders often seek religious endorsements to solidify their public support. The emphasis on Chiwenga’s Catholic faith suggests an effort to present him as a leader of integrity and morality.
3. Work Ethic and National Duty: Statements about his early office hours and national dedication create an implicit comparison with Mnangagwa, who has faced criticism over alleged corruption and ineffective leadership.

The Mnangagwa-Chiwenga Rivalry: A Political Volcano Ready to Erupt?

This portrayal of Chiwenga comes amid growing speculation that he is positioning himself to replace Mnangagwa, either through a negotiated transition or a more forceful political maneuver.
• Recent military movements and Mnangagwa’s increasingly tight security measures have fueled rumors that the president is operating under virtual house arrest.
• The war veterans, a historically powerful force in ZANU-PF politics, have also begun questioning Mnangagwa’s legitimacy, further isolating him within the party.
• The resurfacing of Chiwenga’s 2017 military credentials in state media has been interpreted as a subtle reminder of who orchestrated Mugabe’s removal—and who could do it again.

Is The Herald Preparing Zimbabwe for a Post-Mnangagwa Era?

If The Herald’s Chiwenga-focused narrative continues, it may indicate that state-controlled media is laying the groundwork for an impending leadership transition.

This strategic public relations move is reminiscent of how Mugabe’s exit was foreshadowed in the media before the 2017 coup. The gradual glorification of Chiwenga, coupled with the silence on Mnangagwa, suggests that political forces within ZANU-PF are subtly signaling a shift in power.

What Next?

Zimbabwe now stands at a pivotal moment, with multiple scenarios unfolding:
1. Chiwenga consolidates military and party backing, forcing Mnangagwa out.
2. Mnangagwa retaliates, attempting to neutralize Chiwenga before losing full control.
3. A negotiated settlement emerges, paving the way for a “soft transition.”

With state media playing an increasingly transparent role in shaping this narrative, Zimbabweans are watching closely—because when The Herald starts rewriting history, a new chapter in the country’s leadership is never far behind.- ZimEye

Mnangagwa Left With Days After Changing Constitution To Rule to 2030

Mnangagwa Risks Ouster Over Constitution Manipulation as ZANU-PF Pushes Term Extension

Harare, Zimbabwe – President Emmerson Mnangagwa is facing mounting resistance within Zimbabwe’s ruling ZANU-PF and beyond, as his controversial bid to extend his rule until 2030 has sparked outrage over allegations of constitutional mutilation. The move, now in its implementation phase, has exposed deep fractures within the party and intensified speculation that Mnangagwa’s grip on power is rapidly weakening.

Mnangagwa’s Constitutional Gamble

ZANU-PF has escalated its push for a Constitutional Amendment that would delay the 2028 elections by two years—effectively extending Mnangagwa’s term without public consent. The party, which passed this resolution during its 21st Annual National People’s Conference in Bulawayo, is now executing it through Parliament, sidestepping a referendum.

“There is no going back in implementing the resolution,” declared ZANU-PF National Political Commissar Munyaradzi Machacha, signaling that the party has already instructed Parliament to proceed with the amendment.

Harare Provincial Chairman Godwills Masimirembwa further claimed that the extension does not interfere with Zimbabwe’s constitutional term limits since it merely postpones elections rather than granting Mnangagwa an additional term. However, legal experts and opposition leaders argue that this is an outright subversion of the Constitution, designed to entrench Mnangagwa in power beyond his mandated two terms.

Growing Resistance from ZANU-PF and the Military

Despite party officials insisting on the legitimacy of this move, dissent is rapidly growing within ZANU-PF, the military, and war veterans—three critical pillars that historically determine Zimbabwe’s leadership transitions.

Recent public appearances and political maneuvers by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga have fueled speculation that the military might be positioning itself to challenge Mnangagwa’s rule. Last week, Chiwenga’s grand entrance at the National Heroes Acre—where a massive crowd erupted in chants of a pro-opposition Nelson Chamisa song—was interpreted as a powerful statement that Mnangagwa’s authority is under siege.

Analysts now warn that Zimbabwe is on the verge of a political showdown, with Chiwenga emerging as the key alternative power center.

Virtual House Arrest? Mnangagwa’s Movements Under Scrutiny

Rumors have intensified that Mnangagwa is under virtual house arrest, with increasing reports that he is heavily guarded inside his roaming motorcade, unable to move freely due to security concerns.

While government officials have dismissed such claims as “opposition propaganda,” a closer look at the president’s recent public engagements suggests heightened security measures and a reduction in unscripted appearances—a sign that he may no longer be fully in control.

Political insiders reveal that Mnangagwa’s declining influence within ZANU-PF has driven him into a defensive posture, relying on an ever-tightening inner circle as pressure mounts from both the military and key party figures.

Chiwenga’s Power Play: A Silent Coup in Motion?

Sources indicate that Chiwenga, a former military commander who led the coup against Robert Mugabe in 2017, is now maneuvering behind the scenes to challenge Mnangagwa’s legitimacy. If he consolidates military and party support, Mnangagwa’s position could become untenable within weeks, if not days.

A recent public poll on Mnangagwa’s political survival paints a grim picture for the embattled leader:
• 61% believe he will last only three days once military backing shifts fully to Chiwenga.
• 18% predict a three-week survival period.
• 14% give him at most three months.
• Only 7% think he could remain in power for another three years.

These statistics underscore the widespread belief that Mnangagwa is running out of time.

Fallout from Mnangagwa’s Alleged Plans to Fire Chiwenga

Adding to the tension is speculation that Mnangagwa intends to dismiss Chiwenga in a desperate attempt to neutralize his growing influence. However, such a move could backfire catastrophically, accelerating Mnangagwa’s downfall rather than securing his position.

The president’s recent warnings that anyone attempting to replace him “must go through the death row” or “take poison first” suggest that he recognizes the existential threat posed by Chiwenga and is bracing for a last-ditch battle.

War Veterans Join the Resistance

The once-loyal war veterans’ association, which played a pivotal role in bringing Mnangagwa to power in 2017, has now openly questioned his leadership. Their recent challenge to Mnangagwa and controversial businessman Maxwell Chikumbutso suggests that the faction is preparing to withdraw support altogether.

The veterans have raised several key demands, including:
1. Proof that Mnangagwa was poisoned in 2017, a claim he has often used to justify political purges.
2. Evidence that Chikumbutso’s “endless electricity” invention is legitimate and not a scam.
3. Clarification on why Mnangagwa appointed convicted armed robber Paradzayi Kutyauripo to a government position.
4. An explanation of when Mnangagwa allegedly ceased working for the Rhodesian security services.

These pointed questions indicate that Mnangagwa’s long-standing allies are now turning against him, further weakening his position.

The Unfolding Coup: Will Mnangagwa Survive?

The current political climate bears striking similarities to the events leading up to Robert Mugabe’s 2017 ouster. If Mnangagwa has truly lost the support of the military and party elites, his removal could be swift and decisive, much like Mugabe’s.

While Mnangagwa’s inner circle insists he remains in control, opposition leaders and independent observers believe Zimbabwe is on the brink of another leadership shake-up.

What’s Next?

With constitutional amendments underway, military tensions rising, and war veterans distancing themselves from Mnangagwa, the next few weeks could determine Zimbabwe’s political future.

Three potential scenarios could unfold:
1. Mnangagwa successfully pushes through the constitutional amendment and clings to power until 2030.
2. Chiwenga consolidates military and party control, forcing Mnangagwa to resign or flee.
3. A negotiated transition emerges, allowing a compromise leadership shift without a full-scale coup.

Regardless of the outcome, one thing is clear: Zimbabwe is entering a new era of political uncertainty.

Is This the End for Mnangagwa?

For now, Mnangagwa faces his biggest political crisis since taking power in 2017. His bid to manipulate the Constitution to extend his rule has sparked internal rebellion, alienated key allies, and emboldened his political enemies.

With Zimbabweans already predicting his imminent downfall, the country could soon witness a dramatic shift in leadership—whether through a coup, a backroom deal, or an unprecedented resignation.

As the crisis deepens, all eyes are on Harare to see if Mnangagwa can survive—or if history is about to repeat itself.

Woman Sentenced to Five Years for Trafficking Newborn from South Africa to Zimbabwe

Woman Sentenced to Five Years for Trafficking Newborn from South Africa to Zimbabwe

Harare, Zimbabwe – A Zimbabwean woman convicted of trafficking a two-day-old baby from South Africa to Zimbabwe with the intent of selling the child for adoption outside Africa has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Janet Marimo, who conspired with the infant’s mother, Pauline Maganga, paid R25,000 to purchase the child before attempting to arrange an illegal adoption abroad. However, authorities foiled her plan, arresting her in Harare before the transaction could be completed.

Presiding over the case, Magistrate Donald Ndirowei acknowledged that standard sentencing guidelines for such crimes typically carry a 10-year prison term. However, he ruled that “special circumstances” warranted a reduction.

“The court found the accused was bona fide in her mistaken understanding of adoption laws in both South Africa and Zimbabwe,” Magistrate Ndirowei stated. “Her ignorance of the law and lack of sophistication were deemed special circumstances.”

The court also took into consideration the role of Maganga, the baby’s biological mother, who was sentenced to 10 years in May 2024. Maganga testified that she first connected with Marimo through a Facebook adoption group in March 2023.

Marimo, who administered the online group, facilitated discussions about adoption among its six members, including individuals from South Africa, Zimbabwe, and the United States. It was through this platform that she engaged with Maganga, leading to the illicit arrangement that ultimately resulted in their arrests.

Authorities have warned that illegal adoption networks continue to pose a significant threat, with law enforcement agencies ramping up efforts to dismantle such operations. The case has sparked renewed calls for stricter regulations and public awareness on legal adoption procedures to prevent further exploitation of vulnerable children.

This developing story highlights the complex intersection of poverty, desperation, and legal loopholes that traffickers exploit to facilitate illegal adoptions. Authorities urge the public to report suspicious adoption activities to prevent similar cases.

Zim Economic Crisis : Will Mthuli’s Plan Make A Difference?

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwe’s economic crisis continues to worsen, and Finance and Investment Promotion Minister Mthuli Ncube’s recent remarks about the role of the informal sector offer little hope for resolution.

Ncube placed blame on the informal sector for the difficulties supermarkets are facing, claiming it is the “competition from the informal sector” that is exacerbating the situation. However, this explanation fails to address the deeper systemic issues at play.

In a statement released on Friday, Ncube argued that the economic troubles stem from informal traders who are bypassing formal retail channels. “Since the beginning of 2023, some manufacturers have been opting to supply their goods directly to customers and informal retailers, bypassing wholesalers and retailers,” he said. According to Ncube, this practice has put formal businesses in direct competition with the informal sector, which operates outside of formal regulations, including taxes and labour laws. This, he asserts, has led to the closure of some supermarkets and stores.

However, while Ncube’s comments focus heavily on the informal sector, they overlook the internal failures of formal businesses. He acknowledged that “poor management and poor corporate governance” have contributed to the struggles of some large retail chains, leading to business closures. This raises the question: is it fair to solely blame informal traders for the crisis when formal businesses are also facing significant challenges due to mismanagement?

Ncube’s statements come in the context of a worsening economic situation in Zimbabwe, where rising inflation, high unemployment, and unsustainable living costs continue to drive many businesses and individuals toward the informal economy. Despite efforts by the government to tackle the issue, such as the introduction of a 5% withholding tax on unregistered micro and small enterprises (MSMEs) and a reduction in the VAT registration threshold, the informal sector remains a substantial force in the economy.

To address the impact of informal trading, Ncube outlined measures in the 2024 Mid-Term Budget and the 2025 National Budget, including the mandatory use of Point-of-Sale (POS) machines by all informal traders and a crackdown on goods deemed “smuggled.” While these measures may contribute to improving compliance, they fail to address the underlying issues facing both formal and informal sectors. In his statement, Ncube also proposed additional actions, such as “leveling the playing field between formal and informal businesses” and “enforcing collaboration between Local Authorities and Central Government in the licensing and enforcement processes.”

Yet, the central issue remains unaddressed: the government’s failure to create an environment where formal businesses can thrive, and where the informal economy is better integrated into the national economy rather than treated as a scapegoat.

“Research and consultations indicate that some of the reasons formal businesses are experiencing distress include competition from the informal sector, poor management, and poor corporate governance,” Ncube said. Yet, the constant focus on competition from the informal sector diverts attention from the real need for a comprehensive economic overhaul.

The government’s proposals include enforcing international best practices for tax compliance, strengthening enforcement through a Domestic Interagency Enforcement Team, and introducing additional incentives to support local industry. However, these measures might not be enough to tackle the root causes of Zimbabwe’s ongoing economic crisis.

In conclusion, while Mthuli Ncube has proposed several steps aimed at formalizing the informal sector and promoting tax compliance, the economic crisis in Zimbabwe cannot be solved by simply blaming the informal economy. A more holistic approach is needed—one that addresses poor governance, supports business growth in both the formal and informal sectors, and ultimately creates a sustainable economic environment for all Zimbabweans. As the country moves toward Vision 2030, it is clear that without deeper structural reforms, the crisis will persist.

Minister Mthuli Ncube’s focus on external factors, while important, misses the bigger picture, and it’s time for a shift in focus toward real economic solutions.

Warriors Coach Nees Ready for AFCON

Soorts Correspondent

Zimbabwe Warriors coach Michael Nees has returned from his holiday break, re-energized and focused on achieving success in both the AFCON finals and World Cup qualifiers.

With the AFCON finals looming in December and World Cup qualifiers resuming in March, Nees is aware of the challenges ahead. “We have a double project,” he said. “On one hand, we have to develop towards the AFCON finals, while on the other, we have to immediately perform well in the World Cup qualifiers.”

Nees attended the AFCON draw in Rabat, Morocco, where Zimbabwe was grouped with Egypt, South Africa, and Angola in Group B. Despite the tough draw, Nees is confident that the Warriors can hold their own. “We need to peak at the AFCON finals, not before,” he said. “We have to prepare well and make sure we bring maximum performance on the pitch.”

The German coach also met with new ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi in Rabat, describing their conversation as “very positive.” Nees acknowledged that the World Cup qualifiers are crucial but believes that Zimbabwe still has a chance to turn things around.

The Warriors will resume their World Cup qualifying campaign in March with matches against Benin and Nigeria. Nees is looking forward to the challenge, saying, “We will do our best. Whatever comes, we will do our best.”

With the AFCON finals in December, Nees is targeting a spot in the knockout stage. “Our goal is to progress to the second round and then see how far we can go,” he said. Nees also praised Angola, describing them as a team with “very skilful players.”

Zanu PF Internal Power Struggles Continue

By A Correspondent

ZANU PF’s Midlands Province has called for the immediate expulsion of Blessed Geza from the ruling party’s Central Committee, citing his recent actions and affiliations.

During a meeting, Midlands Provincial Chairperson Edson Chiherenge announced that the decision to remove Geza had been unanimously supported by all ten provinces and is now awaiting implementation. “We stand firm against Geza. All provinces have endorsed his removal from the Central Committee,” Chiherenge declared, leading the crowd in chants of “Pasi naGezi,” which translates to “Down with Geza.”

Chiherenge continued, emphasizing that Geza has aligned himself with opposition forces.

“Geza has shown no loyalty to the party. He has been associating with Chamisa and Kasukuwere,” he said, signaling the party’s dissatisfaction with Geza’s actions.

This call for Geza’s expulsion follows his recent involvement in leading a press conference with a faction of war veterans, where they demanded the resignation of President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The group accused Mnangagwa of nepotism, corruption, and economic mismanagement, issues that have sparked controversy within the ruling party.

In response to the move to oust him, former ZANU PF member Saviour Kasukuwere, who has been a vocal critic of Mnangagwa’s administration, fired back, saying the plotters’ actions were futile. “It’s too late now,” Kasukuwere stated defiantly. “When they’ve failed to improve the healthcare system, failed pensioners, failed the army, failed the police, and brought hunger and misery to the people, they resort to insults. Get ready, it’s over now.”

The growing rift within the party signals a turbulent road ahead for ZANU PF as the internal power struggles continue to unfold.

Mnangagwa Minister Says Zimbabweans In America Must Return Home

By A Correspondent

The callous comments by Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Daniel Garwe, during a recent civil servants meeting in Masvingo have raised concerns across the nation.

Garwe not only threatened action against war veteran Blessing Geza but also endorsed U.S. President Donald Trump’s controversial plan to deport Zimbabweans living in the United States.

Addressing civil servants and ZANU PF supporters at Masvingo Polytechnic on Thursday, Garwe began by discussing Geza, who last week made headlines with a press conference attacking government officials, including President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Garwe took aim at Geza, saying, “Blessing Geza ndiBhoki, saka takurova Bhoki tiwone kuti akatumwa nani. Pane akatuma Bhoki kuti ataure zvisina basa,” meaning “Blessing Geza is a puppet, so we will deal with him and see who sent him. Someone is controlling him to speak nonsense.”

While Geza refrained from naming the individuals behind his comments, Garwe was clear in his assertion that Geza was not acting independently. “Geza is being controlled by a master, and he is going to be jailed over corruption,” Garwe continued, hinting at the possibility of legal repercussions for the war veteran.

In a surprising turn, Garwe also took the opportunity to comment on U.S. immigration policy, praising President Trump’s move to deport 504 Zimbabweans believed to be “illegally staying” in the United States.

“Let them come back home,” Garwe declared, adding that these individuals had been actively attacking Mnangagwa on social media. His words sparked alarm, with critics labeling the minister’s comments as both callous and politically charged.

Garwe’s statements have been met with concern by many, with some questioning the ethics of using the deportation issue to target political adversaries. The minister’s rhetoric, especially regarding the deportation of Zimbabweans, seems to blur the lines between domestic politics and international relations, raising further questions about the priorities of the government.

Arsenal Thrash Manchester City

Sports Correspondent

Arsenal delivered a resounding statement of intent with a 5-1 thrashing of Manchester City, sending shockwaves to Liverpool and reigniting the Premier League title race.

The Gunners burst out of the blocks, taking the lead within two minutes through Martin Odegaard’s clinical finish. Arsenal thought they had doubled their advantage just four minutes later, but Gabriel Martinelli’s strike was ruled out for offside.

Manchester City struggled to find their footing, with David Raya producing a spectacular save to deny Joško Gvardiol. Despite occasional flashes of brilliance, City were largely outplayed by Arsenal’s slick passing and movement.

As the half drew to a close, Savinho forced Raya into another stunning stop, ensuring Arsenal maintained their slender lead at the break.

The second half began with a dramatic twist, as Erling Haaland equalized for City within ten minutes of the restart. However, Arsenal’s response was swift and decisive, with Thomas Partey restoring their lead just a minute later.

From that point on, Arsenal assumed total control, with Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kai Havertz, and substitute Ethan Nwaneri all finding the net to seal an emphatic 5-1 victory.

This statement win sends a clear message to Liverpool: Arsenal will fight tooth and nail for the Premier League title. The Gunners’ performance was a testament to their determination and quality, and they will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with in the title race.

Rare Pictures Of Chiwenga In Church

Masvingo City Council Student On Attachment Dies in Road Accident

By A Correspondent

A tragic road accident on Sunday claimed the life of an intern working with Masvingo City Council, as she was travelling to Vumba, Manicaland Province, for a church mission.

Sources at the Civic Centre, Masvingo City Council headquarters, confirmed the heartbreaking news.

“One of our students, who had been attached to our building inspectors’ office in the Town Planning department, lost her life in a tragic accident yesterday in Vumba. She was part of a group that had traveled there for a church event. The vehicle they were traveling in was a kombi. Her name was Nyasha Mutusva, and she was studying Urban Planning at GZU,” said a City Council official.

“Mourners are currently gathering at 4406 Chiteza Crescent, Rujeko B. MHSRP,” the official added.

Masvingo City Mayor, His Worship Aleck Tabe, expressed his condolences and stated, “I am still in the process of gathering all the details, but I will provide further information as soon as possible.”
