Sick Kembo Mohadi Joins #ED2030 Hymn

By Munacho Gwamanda- The ailing co-Vice President Kembo Mohadi has publicly thrown his support behind President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s controversial #ED2030 campaign despite his persistent health challenges and the ongoing power struggles within ZANU PF.

On Monday, Mohadi, who has suffered multiple public health scares, made the remarks while mourning the late national hero and former Manicaland governor, Tinaye Chigudu.

Chigudu, who succumbed to a long illness last Wednesday at his Mt Pleasant home in Harare, is set to be buried today at the National Heroes Acre.

Mohadi’s ill health has been a matter of public concern for years.

The 74-year-old politician has collapsed on several occasions while attending official functions, fueling speculation about his ability to continue in office.

Despite these setbacks, Mohadi has remained a key figure in Mnangagwa’s administration, even after being fired in 2021 following a sex scandal.

He was quietly reinstated in 2023 as the second Vice President, serving alongside Constantino Chiwenga, in a move widely seen as Mnangagwa’s strategy to maintain a delicate balance of power within the party.

Mohadi’s endorsement of Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 agenda is seen as a calculated move to solidify his allegiance to the President amid intensifying power struggles with his deputy, Chiwenga.

The fissures between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga have been growing, with the former army general increasingly asserting himself in political and military affairs.

Chiwenga, who led the 2017 coup that ousted Robert Mugabe, has long been viewed as the heir apparent to Mnangagwa.

However, Mnangagwa’s push for a third term—despite constitutional limits—has deepened tensions.

The inclusion of Mohadi, a longtime Mnangagwa loyalist, in high-profile engagements such as the #ED2030 campaign appears to be a bid to counterbalance Chiwenga’s growing influence.

In a statement issued through his Chief-of-Staff, Clever Chirume, Mohadi expressed his sorrow over Chigudu’s passing, linking it to the broader struggle for Zimbabwe’s development.

“The Vice President joins His Excellency the President and the nation in mourning Cde Tinaye Chigudu, who has since been declared a national hero. It is sad that yet another gallant son of the liberation struggle has died a few weeks after we buried four others,” said Mohadi.
“Furthermore, it is unfortunate that those of us who participated first-hand in the liberation struggle are now leaving when their wisdom and guidance are still required. This is the generation that demonstrated loyalty and resilience against the colonial regime, qualities we require to attain Vision 2030 of an empowered upper-middle-income society.”

Born on August 13, 1942, Chigudu played a crucial role in Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle.

After being expelled from Harare Secondary School in 1964 due to his political activism, he joined ZAPU and received military training in North Korea as a ZIPRA cadre.

Upon returning, he was deployed as an intelligence officer but was captured in 1965 and detained for 12 years in Gonakudzingwa, Gweru, and Whawha prisons.

Following his release in 1977, Chigudu exiled himself to the UK, where he studied law at Exeter University between 1978 and 1981.

Returning to Zimbabwe, he held various government positions, including Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Home Affairs and later for Mines and Mining Development.

He served as the Governor and Resident Minister of Manicaland from 2005 until his retirement in 2008.

Chigudu also worked as a senior consultant under the United Nations Development Programme, helping structure the Ministry of Interior for South Sudan.

He is survived by his wife, Esther Chigudu (nee Dumba), and seven children.

Zanu PF Factions Fight For Control Of National Hero’s Burial

By Own Correspondent

Tensions within Zanu PF are set to boil over at the burial of national hero Tinaye Chigudu, with two party factions preparing for a showdown.

Chigudu, who passed away recently, will be laid to rest at the National Heroes Acre on Monday, and the event has become a focal point for a power struggle within the party.

On one side, a faction within Zanu PF is pushing for the extension of President Mnangagwa’s term beyond the constitutional limit, while the opposing faction insists that he should step down at the end of his current term in 2028. The rivalry between these two factions has intensified, and all eyes are now on how this will unfold during the national hero’s burial.

Meanwhile, Chigudu’s body has arrived in Chiendambuya, allowing Manicaland Province to bid farewell to their son. The body will be returned to Harare this afternoon, where it will lie in state at Chigudu’s residence in Mt. Pleasant ahead of the burial at the National Heroes Acre on Monday.

As the burial approaches, it’s clear that the internal battle for control within Zanu PF will loom large over the solemn occasion, with each faction seeking to assert its influence and stake its claim to the party’s future.

Mayor Mafume Under Siege

Harare mayor Jacob Mafume’s stance against corrupt city officials is backfiring as the underfire top executives are ganging up against him, this publication can reveal.

The mayor who on Tuesday and Wednesday was pressured by the Commission to admit some of the illegal dealings at the Town House,is a victim of a well-orchestrated move to discredit him by Town Clerk Chisango and former Housing director Marara in connivance with some members of the commission. This is according to some inside sources at the beleagured municipality.

The source says his bold move to block the reinstatement of Chisango has not gone well with the cabal.

“One of his major undoing was his resistance to allow Chisango back to work after his controversial acquittals which have also caught the attention of ZACC.

“Its sickening that Mayor Mafume is demanding accountability which the Commission was also set up for but he is now being victimised,”said the source who requested anonymity.

Another source claimed that a named commissioner called a top council official pleading with him to have Chisango reinstated.
Commenting on the inspection in loco at Mafume’s residence, the source said it was quite suspicious why the Mayor was picked while former housing director Marara who bounced back in controversial circumstances never got one.

“Its quite telling that the Mayor is being set up here.Marara has been implicated in a number of corrupt scandals but not even an inspection in loco was done at his residence this just gives a picture of favouritism mearnt to soil Mafume’s image,”added the source.

This publication was made aware of reports of Chisango bribing the commission’s secretary with residential stands in Westlea.

Reports are filtering in that Town Clerk Chisango is on the run after fleeing ZACC investigators.
Meanwhile, the tiff between NPA and ZACC has raised eyebrows on the handling of the court case involving top Harare city officials. The NPA withdrew charges against Chisango (Town Clerk), Never Murerwa Supply Chain Manager), Denford Zhungu (Principal Accountant), Tawanda Mutenhabundo (Engineering Technician), and Artkins Mandaza (Principal Contracts Administrator) over a US$9 million street lights tender. However, the anti-corruption body,ZACC,has stated it will go on to prefer new charges on these accused persons despite their acquittal.

ZRP Cop Charged Over Missing US$623,000

Harare, Zimbabwe — A senior Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer, Isaac Chigidora (28), has been charged with embezzling US$623,462.79 from the ZRP Consolidated Fund. Chigidora, who was responsible for administration and human resources in the fund, allegedly stole the money in cash from the safe deposit box.

He was arrested while serving as the officer in charge of operations in Mutoko and appeared in court, where he was remanded in custody. A ruling on his bail application is expected tomorrow. The ZRP is being represented in the case by Chief Inspector Lameck Munyaka, who is acting as the secretary of the ZRP Board of Trustees.

According to the State, between September 2023 and July 2024, Chigidora falsely reported transferring cash to Joyce Mine, a facility that ceased operations in 2021. Instead, he allegedly pocketed the funds, and to date, none of the missing money has been recovered.

The case has sent shockwaves through the police force and the public, raising concerns about financial oversight within the ZRP. Authorities are expected to tighten controls on the management of police funds in response to the scandal.

Chigidora remains in custody as the court deliberates on his bail application. More updates to follow as the case unfolds.

Chadzamira, What Methods Did Mnangagwa Use to Kill Our Son Itai Dzamara?

Nomazulu Thata | ZimEye | How did my son Itai Dzamara meet the moment of his death? If Mnangagwa is feeding you with freebees, you can manage to hallucinate in the way you are talking.

You are telling us to pray for the supreme Leader, Comrade Mnangagwa. Truly, you have never been on the receiving heavy hand of this murderous president of Zimbabwe. Obviously, you are testing the resilience of the population; their suffering is beyond what a human can endure.

How many citizens have been murdered by Mnangagwa, a man with blood on his hands. You tell usto pray for a man who decimated 20,000 innocent citizens. You have the hide to tell us to pray for a murderer. Which true God will listen to devilish and satanic prayers exclusively for him? A man who has no qualms when it comes to killing those whom he suspects are not on his side. How did Solomon Mujuru die? He was of Shona tribe and a former Zanu General, all the same he was devoured by his own.

Quoting the bible to justify huwori wa Mnangagwa: its satanic. Those verses you are quoting are misplaced when it comes to Mnangagwa. Even Mugabe hated this man but managed to use him to kill, maim the oppositionand dissenting voices. Mnangagwa is dangerous, he has murdered thousands of citizens even those in Zanu, even those of Mashona tribe are not spared. Mnangagwa is now devouring his own people. Chadzamira, your comrade is beyond bible verses. At best you are abusing the holy scriptures to get more freebees. At best stop insulting the insulted people of this nation. Mnangagwa murdered thousands of people, and he does not lose sleep. He has no guilty conscience about the deaths he has committed and is killing even today.

Its Mnangagwa who knows how Itai Dzamara was executed at his behest. Its Mnangagwa who know howSolomon Mujuru was decimated. The deaths of soldiers who died during the 2017 coup is known by Mnangagwa and Chiwenga. Yet we are told to kneel and pray for the Führer in honesty and in truth. After the coup, he eliminated the very people who gave him power to take over from Mugabe. Where is General Sibusiso Moyo and other Generals who dropped dead one by one after the coup. Mnangagwa does not lose sleep, he murdered to assume absolute power after their demise. However, Mnangagwa failed on Chiwenga to finish him off: Chiwenga survived poisoning. Mnangagwa is the man we are supposed to pray for him in earnest and in truth; according to Chadzamira.

Maybe, Mr. Chadzamira you are right that we must pray to God. Pun intended. That bible has stories of genocide atrocities committed in God’s name. He lets Mnangagwa go killing frenzy. He kills without guilt because he knows #godiswithit#. This is a man who connives with a poor woman to finish her hubby, Chiwenga: it did not happen. But Merry will suffer this misshape until death. Mnangagwa does not lose sleep because he put Merry in a precarious situation. He does not assist her either but left her to dry! How satanic can it still go? Sure, we must pray for ED earnestly and in truth! This god is a jealous god, a hateful God; he is a murderous god, he is a vindictive god. A destructive god who can even curse generations and generation to come; can live under his curse to five generations. ED is the chosen one from holy-evil God. For this reason, he kills willy nilly: his conscience is clear.

Mnangagwa is looting wealth resources meant for the entire nation. He has ballets of dollars in his home, one cannot count, even himself he can’t count the bales of dollars in his home. We must continue to pray for our Führer. How many street children are there in all towns and cities. Who cares for them if they are not cared for by NGOs of Caucasian origin. They bring their own resources to give hope to the forgotten and oppressed. When they do so they are insulted again for offering those benevolent services to the downtrodden. Our roads are deaths traps: our hospitals are death traps; our schools are death traps: the water we drink are death traps, this week, about 50 people have died of a medieval disease simple to treat, Cholera. Mnangagwa does not lose sleep because of dilapidated national infrastructures most of which were left by colonial past. Two governments have not risen to the occasion of giving decent lives to citizens for four generations.

Mnangagwa offers foreigners of Chinese origin to loot resources: Zimbabweans are told to work for them as slaves. Chinese employers shoot at Zimbabwean employees at will, if they asked for their slender monthly payments. If they reported cases of abuse fromemployers, no law listens to them but will listen to Chinese version of the story. We never saw this coming when we were liberating this nation. We hoped our resources will be made use to develop Zimbabweans and not Chinese. Was this not the very bone of contention to fight for freedom of this nation: to be free and be prosperous? What is the difference between the life we lived during colonial times and the slave-like lives we live today under a black government? IAN DOUGLAS SMITH WAS BETTER THAN MNANGAGWA government period.

Father which art in Heaven, bless our führer Mnangagwa and his children forever. Yes, Mr. Chadzamira, we are praying as you can see. It is inconceivable how Zimbabweans will endure humiliation in various degrees by this hell of a government of Mnangagwa. We are told to pray for him all the same even if he is abusing his power over us. The economy is at the edge of collapse. Resilient citizens wake up in the early hours of the day to market their products at Mbare. Mbare was burnt down by the state, accused of sinking the Zig dollar. Seeing the burnt down Mbare, you feel the satanism and hate that caused the destruction of the marketplace: the place where people were trying their utter best to put bread on the table for their children. Mnangagwa decides to burn it down to spite them. In Shona we say, “Hutsinye”. Chimwe ne chimwe chinenguva yacho, mufunge! Everything will come to pass. Whoever thought Mugabe government would be history. Mnangagwa is 85 years old. All things being equal, he will depart from this earth like the innocent person he murdered. What a god! He lets goodness and human kindness to be subordinated to evil. Glad I am not a Christian!

I quote Chadzamira: “Insubordination, unethical conduct, indiscipline and disobedience are all characteristics inhumane behaviour which calls for dismissal from church by supreme leader hence as politicians, we also operate within the confines of biblical texts and discourses. Pray for only supreme leaders since they carry blessings for us all, and without submission to them, we are nothing and best candidates for hell,” Chadzamira declares.

OPEN LETTER: Reflecting On Dr Kwame Nkrumah Vision

His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana,
Flagstaff House, Accra, Ghana

Thro’

Dr. Callistus Mahama,
Executive Secretary to the President,
Flagstaff House,
Accra.

Date: 31st January 2025

Your Excellency,

REKINDLING THE VISION OF OSAGYEFO DR. KWAME NKRUMAH FOR GHANA AND AFRICA’S TRANSFORMATIVE FUTURE

On behalf of the African Continental Union Consult (ACUC), we extend our warmest greetings and commend your unwavering commitment to the development and progress of our dear nation, Ghana.

As we reflect on the profound legacy of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, it is imperative that we draw inspiration from his vision and strive to realize the full potential of Ghana and Africa.

Dr. Nkrumah’s dream was not just for Ghana but for a united, self-reliant, and industrialized Africa.

He envisioned a continent free from economic dependency, where its people harness their vast resources for sustainable development and prosperity.

Today, as Ghana stands at a crossroads of economic challenges and governance complexities, we must rekindle that spirit of visionary leadership, bold policy direction, and unwavering patriotism.

Your leadership has demonstrated resilience and foresight, and as you assume once again the highest office of the land, the expectations of the people remain high.

Ghana needs decisive action to address pressing issues such as economic revitalization, industrialization, youth empowerment, technological advancement, and infrastructural development, goals that align with Dr. Nkrumah’s ideology of self-determination and economic emancipation.

To this end, ACUC humbly submits for your consideration key thematic areas that could define Ghana’s transformational agenda under your stewardship:

Economic Independence and Industrialization:

Moving from a raw material-exporting economy to an industrialized, value-added production system is crucial.

Policies prioritizing manufacturing, agribusiness, and technology-driven industries must be central to our national development agenda.

Education and Innovation:

Investment in STEM education, technical training, and research institutions should be amplified to cultivate a generation of problem-solvers and innovators who can drive Ghana’s technological advancement.

Pan-Africanism and Regional Integration:

Strengthening Ghana’s role in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and fostering stronger economic ties with African nations will be essential in achieving economic resilience and collective prosperity.

Youth and Job Creation:

Policies that stimulate entrepreneurship, support small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and create sustainable employment opportunities for the youth should be prioritized to curb unemployment and promote economic inclusivity.

Energy and Infrastructure Development:

Expanding access to reliable energy, investing in modern transportation networks, and improving digital infrastructure will position Ghana as a competitive player in the global economy.

Your Excellency, your historic commitment to Pan-Africanism was exemplified in 2016 when your administration granted Ghanaian citizenship to 34 Afro-descendants.

This initiative, spearheaded by Dr. Maulana Maulana and supported by your then Executive Secretary and former Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Ambassador Kwesi Quartey, was a historic step in reconnecting the African diaspora with the motherland.

It sent a powerful message of inclusion and belonging, reaffirming Ghana’s role as a beacon for African unity and integration.

Your symbolic “Key of Return” to African-descendants must not remain a moment in history but a sustained initiative.

It is our hope that your administration will expand this program, enabling awarded citizens to integrate fully into Ghanaian communities and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Their diverse skills, investments, and cultural heritage can play a vital role in achieving and sustaining the 24-hour economy model you envision.

Furthermore, the issue of neo-colonial divestitures of state properties, including strategic assets such as Ghana Telecom, warrants urgent reassessment.

Repossessing such assets could be instrumental in strengthening national development goals under your 24-hour economy framework.

Ensuring that Ghana maintains control over its key economic resources will be crucial in building a resilient and self-sustaining economy.

Your Excellency, the burden of leadership is great, but the opportunity to shape history is even greater.

The people of Ghana look to you not only to uphold the tenets of democracy but to also lead the nation into a new era of economic transformation and social equity.

It is our collective responsibility to ensure that the ideals of Dr. Nkrumah remain alive and relevant in shaping the destiny of our beloved nation.

As you embark on this crucial journey, may wisdom, strength, and the unwavering support of the people guide you.

Ghana’s future lies in bold leadership, and I trust that you will rise to the occasion to deliver on the aspirations of the people.

We hope, the properties of the Nkrumah’s Convention People’s Party, (CPP) as requested by the Party are returned to the rightful owner under your watch as the President of Ghana, who believes in the idea/ ideals of Kwame Nkrumah, and indeed, from the stalk of the CPP.

With utmost respect and best regards,

Benjamin Anyagre Aziginaateeg, CEO, African Continental Union Consult, ACUC.

What are THC Gummies?

Intro

THC gummies are taking the cannabis world by storm. They give THC users a trendy and delicious way to feel the effects of marijuana without having to smoke it. These are quite soft and come with a chewy texture. Also, containing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the underlying ingredient that brings the high.

In fact, the edible cannabis market, including gummies, was worth roughly 9.46 billion US dollars in 2021. It may grow to 34.15 billion US dollars by 2031. People usually order THC gummies online or buy delta 8 gummies because they don’t look like typical marijuana and come in a huge number of flavors. Many people also use these potent THC gummies for recreational or medicinal purposes.

Definition and Composition

Let’s break down the definition and composition of these tasty treats:

  • What are THC gummies: A creative and tasty way to consume cannabis in the form of a product you can eat.
  • Psychoactive ingredient: These include THC, and THC is known to cause high feelings. Some legal THC edibles also contain other cannabinoids. For example, you have quality full-spectrum THC gummies that have a high dose of CBD for a gentler, more relaxing experience or hemp delta 8 products, a psychoactive cannabinoid that’s smoother and gentler than delta 9.
  • Strain: Some gummies contain strain-specific compounds. You can choose from the most relaxing indica THC gummies or potent hybrid THC gummies for a balanced mind and body high.
  • Dosage: Comes in a variety of potencies so customers can select the desired amount of THC content.
  • Variety: Starting from normally flavored such as cherry and watermelon to sour-based, there is so much variety!
  • Consumption method: Easy to consume and discreet, making them one of the most demanded products by cannabis consumers.

Please note that the onset of effects of THC edibles differs from hemp THC tinctures which you put under the tongue or inhalable ones such as hemp delta 8 vapes, flavored THC cartridges, or legal THCA flowers.  Edibles take around 30 minutes to two hours to kick in. With tinctures and inhalable products, the effects kick in within 15 minutes or less.

If you’re after a faster onset of effects, try legal weed carts or smoke some of the strongest THCA flowers sold by trusted online dispensaries.

THCA is nonpsychoactive but converts into psychoactive THC when heated. You can order THCA products online, but only choose those that are lab-tested and come with a certificate of analysis.

Ingredients:

Usually made from a mix of:

  • Sugar and corn syrup for sweetening the deal
  • For that chewy texture – they have added gelatin or pectin
  • They also have different added flavors – natural or artificial.
  • Food coloring so they look like average gummies

Hemp-Derived THC Gummies vs Marijuana-Derived THC Gummies

When it comes to THC gummies, there are two main types. It is hemp-infused and marijuana-infused. They are very different from each other and knowing these differences may help you pick the most suitable gummy for you. Let’s break them down!

Hemp-Derived Gummies:

  • Marijuana is derived from the common cannabis plant. But it contains less than 0.3% of THC content.
  • More frequently contain higher levels of CBD which gives it a more balanced effect.
  • In most cases legalized according to federal law because of low THC concentration.
  • May contain other cannabinoids such as delta-8 THC. Unlike delta-9 THC is relatively non-psychoactive.

Marijuana-Derived Gummies:

  • They are made from marijuana plants and mainly contain over zero point three percent THC.
  • They often have a higher THC content, which can be anything from ten to 30%. This results in a more potent psychoactive reaction.
  • Recreational marijuana is legal in some states of the USA. However, some US states still don’t recognize the drug as legal for recreational purposes.
  • It is usually sold in different variants. Indica, Sativa, or Hybrid depending on the effect required.

THC Vs CBD Gummies

While both THC and CBD gummies come from the cannabis plant, they offer very different experiences:

THC Gummies:

  • Legal delta 9 THC products are rich in THC, implying that they produce psychoactive effects otherwise known as the “high”.
  • They are popularly used for relief and in cases like chronic pain or insomnia.
  • Positive and negative effects of the drugs can manifest in as soon as 30 minutes to a period of two hours.

CBD Gummies:

  • Usually contain a concentration of CBD that does not exceed 0.3% of THC, so they do not cause a psychoactive effect.
  • Sometimes used for non-psychiatric purposes. Such as for treating inflammation, pain, or headaches.
  • The best form of gummies is available in isolated, broad-spectrum, and as well as full-spectrum such as the best CBD gummies for stress which contain CBD, THC, and other cannabinoids.

Potential Benefits of THC Gummies

THC gummies are not just for fun. These chewy delights can be stimulating and provide therapeutic benefits. Let’s explore some of the key benefits:

  • Chronic Pain Management: Compelling evidence shows that patients who use cannabis for chronic pain have improvements with approximately 40%. They rated their pain as better managed compared to those who do not take THC Gummies.
  • Mood Enhancement: People are prone to getting happy and generally feel better after taking THC gummies because the chemicals in the brain produce feelings of happiness.
  • Social Interaction: It may also sometimes be known as a social activity enhancer. Because, for many, THC serves as a way to calm down emotionally in social interactions.
  • Enhancing Sleep Quality: THC gummies are popular among sleep issue remedies. This is because they help improve sleep by promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety, making them a potential natural remedy for insomnia.

FAQs: Starting THC Gummies

How do I start using THC gummies?

Even though THC gummies come with health benefits, new-time users should be very careful when consuming them. Cannabis affects everyone differently based on their tolerance, and metabolism. So you should begin with a lower amount if you are a beginner.

Do THC gummies make you feel good?

THC produces dopamine, a neurotransmitter in the brain that makes you feel better. This causes emotional and physical relaxing effects.

Are THC gummies legal?

Due to its psychoactivity, THC possession, use, or sale may be legal in some places and not in others. Always check your state laws before buying. A good alternative to THC gummies is Amanita muscaria gummies. This mushroom is legal, and you can also buy Amanita muscaria gummies for sale online.

How long do effects last?

If you consume THC in gummy form, the effects in some cases only start after 30 minutes to two hours but can last up to 12 hours or longer.

How actually safe is it to consume THC gummies?

THC gummies are relatively safe for use by adults. They can be toxic to children and first-time users. Not only because of the desired effects lasting longer than those of smoking, but additionally because edible THC products pose a heightened danger to people who consume more than the recommended amount.

What is the THC dosage in gummies?

THC gummies should not be taken in amounts greater than two point five mg for first-time use and should not exceed ten mg in the serving size for frequent users.

What should I avoid before consuming THC gummies?

THC gummies should be taken with caution. Read the label of the product, follow the general guidelines, take a small amount, and do not combine it with other stimulants.

Thomas Mapfumo Releases FreeStyle On Blessed Geza During Interview

By Simba Chikanza | ZimEye | Africa’s oldest music legend Thomas Mapfumo is skeptical of prolific war veteran Blessed Geza, who he accuses of being part of the rot in government. Mapfumo who insists that only Nelson Chamisa must lead the country, revealed these views as he went into a melodically monologue during an interview on Friday. Video excerpt below

Verse 1:

Ivava varikutaura nhasi, ndivo vakatisvitsa pano,

Vachi supporter chimusangano, chinonzi ZANU PF,

Vakabva kusango, vaine pfungwa, yekuti vanoda kuita One Party State,

Hapana mumwe, anozofanirwa kutonga.

Tshabangu’s CCC Scandal: Harare Mayor Faces Jail

By Municipal Reporter-Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume, a key ally of controversial CCC secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu, faces possible imprisonment over corruption allegations linked to fraudulent tenders and bribery.

A Commission of Inquiry into the City of Harare’s operations has implicated Mafume in looting municipal funds through corrupt tender allocations and kickbacks.

Testimony before the commission claims Mafume accepted a US$200,000 bribe in 2019 from Quill Associates, a company contracted to supply accounting software to the municipality.

The money was allegedly used to purchase a house at 9 Sky Master in Belvedere.

When questioned about his residence, Mafume initially told the commission he lived in Belvedere but later changed his statement, claiming he resided at 110 Coronation Road in Greendale, citing safety concerns.

Quill Associates, through its managing director D. Van Heerden, has strongly denied any involvement in bribery, demanding a public apology and retraction from the commission.

In a letter dated February 6, the company dismissed the allegations as baseless and damaging to its reputation.
“We are deeply troubled by these allegations, which lack credible evidence and seem to be driven by factors unrelated to the facts,” the company stated.

The complaint letter was copied to the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, the clerk of Parliament, and the chairperson of the parliamentary portfolio committee on public works.

Quill Associates insists it never independently sought re-engagement with the City of Harare in 2024 and challenges the commission to provide empirical proof of the bribery claim.

Mafume’s legal troubles are the latest in a series of controversies surrounding Sengezo Tshabangu, whose disputed leadership of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has sparked internal turmoil and weakened the opposition party.

Tshabangu, a self-proclaimed CCC secretary-general, has been accused of working to dismantle Nelson Chamisa’s political movement by recalling elected opposition members and installing loyalists.

His factional manoeuvring led to the expulsion of key CCC legislators and councillors, enabling the ruling ZANU-PF to tighten its grip on local governance.

Tshabangu’s actions have raised suspicions of state collusion, with critics alleging he is a political pawn used to undermine democratic opposition structures.

Mafume, a beneficiary of Tshabangu’s power moves, now finds himself at the center of a corruption scandal that further taints the CCC faction aligned with the controversial secretary-general.

His potential prosecution could deal yet another blow to Tshabangu’s camp, reinforcing claims that his leadership has been more about personal and political survival than genuine opposition politics.

Mamelodi Sundowns Crush Rivals Pirates

Sports Correspondent

Mamelodi Sundowns delivered a powerful statement in the Betway Premiership title race with a dominant 4-1 victory over Orlando Pirates at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The win saw Sundowns extend their lead at the top of the table to nine points over the Buccaneers, albeit with one more match played.

From the outset, the game was a tactical battle, with both teams initially taking a cautious approach. However, Sundowns broke the deadlock in the 14th minute when Grant Kekana put the home side ahead. A well-taken free-kick by Marcelo Allende found Kekana, who struck a shot that hit the underside of the crossbar. The ball bounced over the goal line before spinning back into play, but the linesman correctly awarded the goal, giving Sundowns an early 1-0 lead.

Five minutes later, Sundowns had a chance to double their advantage. Another set-piece, this time from a corner by Teboho Mokoena, found an unmarked Lucas Suarez. However, Suarez’s header was well saved by Pirates goalkeeper Sipho Chaine, keeping the Buccaneers in the game.

In the 27th minute, Sundowns extended their lead to 2-0 in spectacular fashion. Lucas Ribeiro, showing both strength and pace, pounced on a loose ball in his own half, powering through the Pirates defense before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner of the net for a brilliant solo goal.

Pirates’ first real chance of the game came late in the first half when Deon Hotto missed the target after being set up by Paseka Mako. Sundowns were also denied a third goal as Peter Shalulile’s close-range effort was saved by Chaine at his near post.

The Buccaneers managed to pull one back in the 57th minute. Hotto, linking up with Evidence Makgopa, fired off a shot that appeared to be heading wide. However, a deflection off a Sundowns defender sent the ball looping over goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, bringing the score to 2-1 and briefly reigniting hope for the visitors.

But Sundowns quickly regained control, and just before the hour mark, Ribeiro completed his brace to restore the two-goal cushion. After a clever setup from Iqraam Rayners, Ribeiro made no mistake, dispatching a precise left-footed shot just outside the penalty area to make it 3-1.

In the 78th minute, Sundowns put the final nail in the coffin with a stunning strike from Mokoena. Given plenty of time and space outside the box, Mokoena unleashed a powerful right-footed drive that flew past Chaine, securing a 4-1 victory for the Brazilians.

The result was a comprehensive performance from Sundowns, who dominated possession and showcased clinical finishing throughout. The win sees them maintain their place at the top of the Premiership, with a significant gap now between them and their rivals, Pirates. With the title race heating up, Mamelodi Sundowns have once again proven why they are the team to beat this season.

VP Chiwenga Avoids Tinashe Mugabe, Secretly Smuggles Kids to China for DNA

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Constantino Chiwenga subjected his three kids to DNA tests, soon after getting his wife, Marry imprisoned.

Chiwenga had at the time gotten his wife imprisoned over allegations based on distrust of her, soon after being made to believe that the same sole and first victim of the attempted assassination through a grenade that exploded under her feet at White City is the one who wants to kill him.

Chiwenga started believing that the mother of his three kids is not at all a bomb victim, but an attacker who wants to kill him. This was after 4 unidentified men had travelled to his bedside while recovering in China.

His belief comes just as LIVE video footage at the White City bombing on 23 June 2018, shows Marry collapsing soon after a small hand grenade had been thrown onto her legs, just after President Emmerson Mnangagwa had wallked off to a ZBC interview point.

Chiwenga dodged local DNA services like Tinashe Mugabe’s show, and chose to fly his two boys and one girl to China. The three kids who are also blocked from seeing their own mother for 6 years to date, were forced for endure 11,000 kilometres, a two day journey, mid air, just to get their blood DNA swabbed. Records in ZimEye’s possession show the kids were also told to maintain the disconnection from their own mother imposed by the father.

The development comes as Chiwenga prepares to be made president of Zimbabwe per demands forwarded by war veterans like Blessed Geza.

Chiwenga has been contacted for comment on this matter by ZimEye, and a male aide of his responded by saying, the plight of Marry Mubaiwa does not affect the economy and so should be left for the courts to decide. He also said at a family level he has a large purse ready for any emergencies in the event of the economy crashing as a result of investor trust-loss on sanctity of life concerns.

“Ini ndinogara nekatundu kangu kanoita kuti kana ndiine zvandasangana nazvo [ndakagadzirira],” he said. LISTEN TO AUDIO BELOW…

Chiwenga got his wife imprisoned in Nov 2019 and she is currently on bail, facing several charges that were raised soon after her husband fell out with her.

Blessed Geza Is Not A Saint At All, Says Opposition Youth Leader…Do You Agree ?

By Womberaiishe Nhende

As an opposition youth leader, I have made it clear that Blessed Geza is no saint, and I believe it’s time for us to critically assess his true political motives.

His actions have raised questions, and I am not alone in thinking that he might be playing a political game for personal gain, rather than working for the collective good of the people.

The real question that must be asked is whether Geza truly wants change for everyone, or if his agenda is driven by personal ambitions—simply to secure a place in the corridors of power. I believe the people need to clearly understand this distinction.

Are we witnessing a genuine desire for change, or just a power play for one man’s inclusion in the political elite?

In my view, Geza’s behavior mirrors that of certain political figures from the past, figures like Matemadanda and Mahiya, who once sought to be the voice of the people but later exposed their personal motivations. I believe that Geza is just another version of these individuals, using the opposition to gain support and sympathy. However, we, the people, cannot afford to be gullible. We must see through this manipulation and recognize it for what it is.

A statement I made, which has garnered much attention, is: “Hanzi Hakuna muWar Vet akambopinda muState house” (There is no war veteran who has ever entered the State House). This remark points to a broader dissatisfaction with individuals from the war veterans’ community. Despite their historical role in the struggle, some now seem to be positioning themselves for high political office, without ever having truly participated in the fight for power. This is something I cannot simply overlook.

I also recall the actions of Matemadanda and Mahiya, who at one point openly supported the opposition, only to later flip and embrace the ruling party when they saw an opportunity for personal advancement. It’s not a new story. These kinds of political switches have been happening for years, and I believe we must remain cautious and vigilant, because the true nature of these figures often becomes clear only after they’ve gained enough support.

A key moment in this saga, one that I will never forget, was a rally at Africa Unity Square. The event ended in frustration, marking the moment when many opposition figures, who had once strongly opposed the ruling party, began shifting their allegiance. When Emmerson Mnangagwa (ED) came to power, these same individuals, who had been vocal in their opposition, suddenly started claiming that the “State House is a straightjacket.” In other words, they suggested that no one can enter the highest office without compromising their values and principles.

In closing, I urge the public to question the true intentions of figures like Geza. If they are not committed to the cause of the people, we must not tolerate their political maneuvering. Our opposition must stay united, focused on delivering meaningful change. We cannot afford to allow individuals to manipulate the system for their own personal gain.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, I remain unconvinced that Geza’s actions will truly reflect a commitment to the people. I can only hope that the public remains discerning, as the real test will be whether Geza addresses these accusations or if his actions only serve to deepen the skepticism about his loyalty to the people’s cause.

Makandiwa Predicts The Fall Of Mnangagwa

By Munacho Gwamanda – Controversial preacher Emmanuel Makandiwa has issued a stark warning about President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s 2030 agenda, stating that those pushing the vision lack foresight.

Makandiwa’s remarks were captured in a viral video circulating on social media, where he criticized the long-term vision as impractical and detached from Zimbabwe’s current political and economic realities.

His prediction follows another prophetic warning last week by Prophet Ian Ndlovu, who suggested that a coup could unfold before the end of next month.

There is growing speculation about deepening power struggles between Mnangagwa and his deputy, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

Reports suggest that a faction of high-ranking security officials and war veterans convened a clandestine meeting this week to strategise on countering Mnangagwa’s attempts to extend his rule through the #ED2030 agenda.

In his video, Ndlovu issued an ominous statement:

“We must continue to pray for our nation… Two trains are set to collide. I personally pray for peace for all ordinary Zimbabweans, but change must not be stopped, in whatever form it needs to come.”

The intensifying political rift echoes past conflicts within Zimbabwe’s ruling elite.

Historical cases such as the 2017 coup, which led to Robert Mugabe’s ouster, reveal a pattern of internal military interventions when factions feel threatened.

The late former Air Force Commander Perrence Shiri, a key architect of Mugabe’s removal, was known to hold covert meetings with allies like Paradzai Zimondi and Bindura South MP Remigious Matangira.

Both Shiri and Zimondi died under mysterious circumstances during the COVID-19 pandemic, fueling speculation that Mnangagwa sought to eliminate potential challengers.

Mnangagwa has been systematically sidelining Chiwenga, reducing his influence in government and military structures.

However, despite purging several senior military officers linked to Chiwenga, some factions remain fiercely loyal to the former general.

Unlike 2017, Mnangagwa has fortified his control over Zimbabwe’s intelligence agencies and security forces, making any potential coup attempt riskier.

However, history suggests that power in Zimbabwe remains unpredictable, and military-backed interventions remain a possibility if discontent within the security sector continues to rise.

As the political climate grows increasingly volatile, the coming months could prove decisive in shaping Zimbabwe’sfuture leadership.

Whether Mnangagwa successfully consolidates his power or faces an internal revolt remains to be seen.

Zimbabwe’s ongoing power struggle reflects patterns seen in other African nations where liberation-era leaders faced internal challenges.

Mnangagwa engineered a coup and ousted Robert Mugabe in a 2017 coup after years of infighting within ZANU-PF and the military.

His attempts to extend his rule led to backlash from war veterans and security forces.

In Mozambique, Samora Machel eed Mozambique’s independence struggle but faced internal resistance from factions within FRELIMO.

His mysterious death in a plane crash in 1986 remains a topic of debate.

Julius Nyerere in Tanzania, voluntarily stepped down but struggled with political factionalism in his party.

Nelson Mandela in South Africa, unlike his counterparts, Mandela stepped down after one term, ensuring a smooth leadership transition.

In Zambia Kenneth Kaunda lost power through democratic means after years of resistance to political reform.

Namibia’s Founding Father Dies

WINDHOEK – Namibia’s founding President, Sam Nujoma, has died at the age of 95.

Nujoma, who led Namibia’s fight for independence from South Africa, passed away on Saturday after a prolonged illness.

He had been hospitalized for the past three weeks, battling a condition from which he “could not recover,” President Nangolo Mbumba announced in a statement on Sunday.

With the “utmost sorrow and sadness,” Mbumba said he was announcing “the passing of our revered freedom fighter and revolutionary leader.”

“Our Founding Father lived a long and consequential life during which he exceptionally served the people of his beloved country,” he added.

Born to poor farmers from the Ovambo tribe, Nujoma was the eldest of 10 children.

In 1949, he took a job as a railway sweeper near Windhoek while attending night classes.

There, he met Herero tribal chief Hosea Kutako, who was lobbying to end apartheid rule in Namibia, then known as South West Africa.

Kutako became his mentor, guiding him as he became politically active among Black workers resisting a government order to relocate to a new township in the late 1950s.

At Kutako’s request, Nujoma began life in exile in 1960, leaving behind his wife and four children.

That same year, he was elected president of the South West Africa People’s Organisation (SWAPO) and shuttled from capital to capital, seeking international support for Namibia’s independence.

SWAPO launched an armed struggle in 1966 after South Africa refused a UN order to relinquish its mandate over the former German colony, arguing that it was a buffer against the advance of communism in Africa.

The resource-rich sub-Saharan country finally won its independence in 1990.

Nujoma won the first democratic election and, over his three terms, presided over a period of relative economic prosperity and political stability.

His policies on AIDS earned him international recognition, though he faced criticism for refusing to rehabilitate several hundred SWAPO members who had been imprisoned in Angola as suspected spies for apartheid South Africa.

Nujoma was also known for his strong rhetoric against homosexuality, which he called “madness,” and in 2001, he warned that gays and lesbians would be arrested or deported.

His handpicked successor, Hifikepunye Pohamba, easily won the presidency in 2005, but Nujoma was widely seen as the power behind the throne and remained politically influential for several more years.

“He inspired us to rise to our feet and to become masters of this vast land of our ancestors,” President Mbumba said.

President-elect Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah paid tribute to Nujoma’s “visionary leadership and dedication to liberation and nation-building,” saying his efforts “laid the foundation for our free, united nation.”

“Let us honor his legacy by upholding resilience, solidarity, and selfless service,” said Nandi-Ndaitwah, who will be sworn in as president on 21 March after winning last November’s elections.

Nujoma’s leadership and his role in Namibia’s liberation struggle align him with some of Africa’s most significant independence-era figures, including Robert Mugabe, Samora Machel, Julius Nyerere, Nelson Mandela, and Kenneth Kaunda. These leaders played pivotal roles in their respective nations’ fights against colonial and apartheid rule, shaping the continent’s political trajectory.

Prophet Foresees Coup By March

By Munacho Gwamanda – Renowned prophet Ian Ndlovu has issued a striking prediction of a possible coup, warning that it could take place before the end of next month.

There are fierce power struggles between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

This clash , could lead to a dramatic political showdown.

Ndlovu’s prophecy comes amid reports that a group of high-ranking security officials and war veterans held a secret meeting this week to strategize on blocking Mnangagwa’s attempts to extend his rule beyond his current term through the #ED2030 agenda.

In a video now going viral on social media, Ndlovu issued a cryptic but ominous warning:

“We must continue to pray for our nation… Two trains are set to collide. I personally pray for peace for all ordinary Zimbabweans, but change must not be stopped, in whatever form it needs to come.”

Reports indicate that a powerful faction of military and war veterans, disgruntled by Mnangagwa’s growing authoritarian grip, recently convened at a secret location in Mashonaland Central.

The province, historically known as a hub for political coups, has long been a stronghold for anti-Mnangagwa elements within ZANU-PF and the military.

A close source to the group emphasized that their patience with Mnangagwa’s maneuvers was running out:

“You hear what credible war veterans like Blessing Geza are saying. He is not hallucinating; he is communicating a message from the script, and you must listen to him carefully.”

Mnangagwa’s steady consolidation of power has intensified tensions with Chiwenga’s loyalists in the military, many of whom believe the Vice President is the rightful heir to the presidency.

This is not the first time that power struggles within Zimbabwe’s ruling elite have led to political upheaval.

The late former Air Force Commander Perrence Shiri—who played a key role in the 2017 coup that ousted Robert Mugabe—was known to hold secret meetings in the middle of his Bindura Arcadia Dam with allies like Paradzai Zimondi and Bindura South MP Remigious Matangira.

Both Shiri and Zimondi died under mysterious circumstances during the COVID-19 pandemic, with insiders suggesting that Mnangagwa eliminated them to weaken potential challengers.

Despite Mnangagwa’s relentless efforts to sideline Chiwenga, sections of the military remain loyal to the former general.

This has fueled speculation that any further moves to isolate or weaken Chiwenga could provoke a military intervention similar to the one that led to Mugabe’s downfall.

Unlike in 2017, Mnangagwa has fortified his control over Zimbabwe’s intelligence agencies and has purged several senior military officers linked to Chiwenga.

However, history has shown that Zimbabwe’s politics remains unpredictable.

The rift between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga has been widening since the 2017 coup, with the Vice President increasingly sidelined from key government and party structures.

As tensions escalate, many observers believe Zimbabwe could be on the brink of another military-backed power shift.

Namibia’s Founding Father Sam Nujoma Has Died

Windhoek – Sam Nujoma, the guerrilla leader who became Namibia’s first president after it won independence from South Africa in 1990, died aged 95 on Saturday, the Namibian presidency said in a post on Facebook.

Nujoma had been hospitalised over the past three weeks, battling an illness from which he “could not recover”, Namibian President Nangolo Mbumba said in a statement announcing the death.

“It is therefore with utmost sorrow and sadness that I announce this morning of the 9th of February 2025 to the Namibian people, our African brothers and sisters and the world at large, about the passing of our revered freedom fighter and revolutionary leader,” Mbumba said.

Epworth Faces Shortage Of Condoms

CONSTITUENCY UPDATE BY HONORABLE MHETU EPWORTH NORTH MP

In my capacity as the Member of Parliament for Epworth North, I visited health centres in the constituency on January 5, 2025 to ascertain the situation at various clinics following the recent freeze on aid programmes by the American government.

I managed to visit and interact with staff at Epworth Poly Clinic, Overspill Clinic and was assured that currently, there is enough medication for the 22 000 residents on Anti-Retroviral Therapy.

The National Pharmaceutical Company (Natpharm) is currently supplying ARVs to the health centres and the current stock of ARVs will be informed to me later after a detailed audit and I shall keep the constituency updated.

I was also briefed that at present, there is 4 months’ supply of condoms left.

However I was alerted to the reduction of staff at these health centres after Zimtech and PEPFAR withdrew 6 nurses and 5 primary counsellors from Epworth Poly Clinic. At Overspill Clinic, 5 nurses and 4 primary counsellors have left while 1 nurse and 2 primary counsellors have left Epworth Mission Clinic.

Currently, skeletal staff at these health centres are overwhelmed with work and the District Medical Officer made a plea for the government to bring in LOCUM staff to fill the void.

As the Member of Parliament for Epworth North, I will engage various Government Ministries and Departments to ensure that LOCUM Staff is supplied at the these health centres in Epworth North.

I have also taken it upon myself to engage various donor agencies and well-wishers to ensure adequate medication supplies at our health centres in Epworth North.

On behalf of the people of Epworth North, I do hereby make a passionate appeal to the United States government to review its stance on foreign aid and continue to save lives.

Prior notice on cutting aid- at least 24 months- would have been appropriate, since the abrupt stall of aid does not only pose a risk to beneficiaries but is also a violation of legitimate expectation. The government of Zimbabwe passed its budget in December 2024.

Funds to cover this gap may require a supplementary budget which may not be possible since the citizens are already overly taxed.

As the Member of Parliament for Epworth North, I would like to reiterate my commitment to ensuring residents receive quality health care.

ZiG Doomed

By A Correspondent

In a surprising and controversial statement, Zanu PF official Killer Zivhu has vowed to walk naked if Zimbabwe’s ZiG currency ever regains its value.

Zivhu’s statement on Friday sparked mixed reactions from the public and political circles.

Zivhu reflected on the current state of Zimbabwe’s economy and the value of the ZiG currency, which has struggled to gain traction.

The Zanu PF official suggested that if ZiG were to be used exclusively for everyday transactions, from petrol to groceries and salaries, it would indicate a significant shift in the country’s economic stability.

“The day we have ZiG petrol only, ZiG fees only, ZiG groceries only, ZiG salaries only, is the day I’ll move around naked calling for an amendment of our constitution,” Zivhu declared.

He further emphasized his stance, adding, “For now, the light isn’t bright enough to tamper with our constitution. #ZimConstitution.”

. The ZiG currency has been part of discussions on ways to stabilize the local economy, but its value has been under question due to various economic factors.

The Zanu PF official’s vow to walk naked if the ZiG gains value has caught the attention of both supporters and critics.

While some have laughed off the statement as a dramatic exaggeration, others have questioned the broader implications for Zimbabwe’s constitutional framework.

Brett Muvhet Announces Formation of New Political Party in the Diaspora

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Pretoria, SA – In a bold and unprecedented move, activist and political commentator Brett Muvhet has announced the formation of a new political party aimed at uniting Zimbabweans in exile and the diaspora. Speaking in a video message, Muvhet described the initiative as a necessary step in the fight against the ruling regime, which he claims has closed all political avenues for opposition within the country.

“For years, I have firmly believed that a people’s revolution is the only way forward to remove the regime in Zimbabwe,” Muvhet declared. However, he noted that influential figures, including business and political elites, have been reluctant to engage in revolutionary discourse, prompting the decision to establish a formal political structure.

Brett Holley

A Political Party with a Revolutionary Foundation

Unlike traditional opposition movements within Zimbabwe, Muvhet envisions this party as a platform primarily for Zimbabweans in exile. “Many of us cannot return to Zimbabwe without facing persecution,” he explained. “So, this party will be based in the diaspora, but with the goal of eventually playing a role in Zimbabwe’s future, whether through revolution or diplomatic means.”

Muvhet revealed that, despite discussions with members of various opposition parties, there appears to be little urgency for unification ahead of the 2028 elections. Instead, opposition groups remain focused on building their individual bases, leaving those who advocate for a more radical transformation excluded from key political discussions. “The international community and regional bodies are engaging with these fragmented parties, but we are not invited. That is why we need our own political base.”

Selective Membership and Ideological Clarity

Emphasizing quality over quantity, Muvhet stated that membership in the new party will not be open to everyone immediately. “You will have to apply to be part of the leadership. This is not about numbers—this is about committed individuals who understand what we stand for,” he said. While general supporters will be welcomed, formal membership will only be granted after the release of a book outlining the party’s principles, policies, and vision for Zimbabwe.

Among the key issues to be addressed in this manifesto are land reform, border policies, taxation, and economic policies. “Until that book is out, we won’t take membership requests. You need to know exactly what you’re supporting,” he stated.

Financial Appeal for a Political Launch

Muvhet has launched a financial appeal to fund the party’s operations, requesting Zimbabweans to contribute $4.50 per month via a subscription model. He argued that financial support would accelerate their efforts, covering essential costs such as office space, research teams, and grassroots mobilization within Zimbabwe.

“I could continue doing this alone, but it will take much longer. If we get at least 900 to 1,000 Zimbabweans contributing, we can formally launch this party and push for real change,” he said. He also acknowledged skepticism over fundraising efforts, citing past abuses of political donations, but reassured supporters that funds would not be used to enrich himself. “I live an average life, drive average cars, and wear overalls to work. This money will go into the movement, not my personal lifestyle.”

A Response to Political Instability and the Looming Coup

Muvhet warned of growing instability within Zimbabwe’s ruling elite, claiming that internal conflicts and economic collapse could lead to another coup. “The regime has run out of things to steal. Now, they are turning on each other,” he said, predicting imminent political shifts. However, he maintained that regardless of what happens, a movement built on strong principles will always be necessary in Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

In his closing remarks, he challenged Zimbabweans to take action. “You can sit back and hope for a miracle, or you can invest in a real political movement. God helps those who help themselves,” he urged.

With this announcement, Muvhet has positioned himself as a new political force in Zimbabwe’s opposition landscape, sparking debate over whether his movement will gain traction or face the same challenges that have plagued other opposition efforts. As the political climate in Zimbabwe remains volatile, the coming months will determine whether his vision for a “people’s revolution” can translate into tangible change.- ZimEye

Trump Hits SA With Sanctions

By A Correspondent

In a significant shift in U.S. foreign policy, President Donald J. Trump has issued an executive order targeting South Africa, imposing sanctions in response to what he describes as “egregious actions” by the South African government.

The order comes after South Africa enacted its controversial Expropriation Act 13 of 2024, which allows the government to seize agricultural property from ethnic minority Afrikaners without compensation.

The U.S. president condemned the act, stating that it represents “shocking disregard of its citizens’ rights.” Trump further criticized the government’s broader actions, claiming they dismantle equal opportunities in areas such as employment, education, and business, while also fueling violence against minority landowners. He also pointed to South Africa’s foreign policy moves, including its stance on Israel and its growing ties with Iran.

“The United States cannot support the government of South Africa’s commission of rights violations in its country or its undermining of U.S. foreign policy,” Trump said in a statement. “This poses national security threats to our Nation, our allies, our African partners, and our interests.”

As part of the executive order, the U.S. will halt all foreign aid to South Africa. “The United States shall not provide aid or assistance to South Africa,” Trump declared, emphasizing that South Africa’s actions cannot be ignored without repercussions. The U.S. will also prioritize the resettlement of Afrikaners who are fleeing government-sponsored racial discrimination, including land confiscations. “We are committed to promoting the resettlement of Afrikaner refugees escaping these injustices,” the order stated.

Additionally, the president confirmed that the United States would not attend the upcoming G20 summit in November. This move underscores the administration’s stance on South Africa’s policies, signaling the growing tensions between the two nations.

In terms of refugee resettlement, the order directs the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Homeland Security to take steps to prioritize the admission and resettlement of Afrikaners affected by racial discrimination. The plan for this resettlement program is to be submitted to the President through the Homeland Security Advisor.

The executive order also mandates that U.S. agencies, including USAID and PEPFAR, cease providing financial aid to South Africa. As part of these sanctions, the U.S. will also block any future foreign assistance to the country, including the annual $440 million allocated for HIV/AIDS programs through PEPFAR.

“The United States is taking this action to protect our values and interests. We stand against any government that undermines human rights and acts contrary to international standards,” Trump added.

This development marks a pivotal moment in U.S.-South Africa relations, with far-reaching consequences for the future of foreign aid, refugee resettlement, and international diplomacy.

Notorious Robbers Nabbed

By A Correspondent

Two armed robbers, Munyaradzi Sigareta Zakaria (38) and Zvikomborero Rukoni Zvikoni (29), have been sentenced to 10 years in prison after being convicted of robbery by the Harare Magistrates’ Court.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the pair enticed their victims by offering them a ride in a white Toyota Probox (registration AGC 3919). Once the victims were inside, they brandished knives, threatened them, and forcefully took their possessions.

On 20 October 2023, Zakaria and Zvikoni, together with two accomplices who remain at large, carried out two separate robberies in Harare:

In the first incident, which occurred in Marlborough along Harare Drive, the robbers threatened Bernadette Yvete Chafachinoyaura with knives and stole her Samsung Galaxy M02 phone, US$13, a silver engagement ring, and other items.

In the second incident, on Lomagundi Road, the robbers blindfolded Patience Dadirai Choto, threatened her with a knife, and stole her belongings.

Trump Attacks SA Over “Abuse of Citizens’ Rights”

By A Correspondent

President Donald Trump has announced a suspension of foreign aid to South Africa, accusing the government of “mistreating” white landowners. The decision emphasizes the resettlement of white “Afrikaner refugees” to the United States.

Trump’s move follows a series of social media posts in which he claimed that South Africa is engaged in a “massive Human Rights VIOLATION.” This declaration has sparked significant controversy, with critics arguing that it promotes conspiracy theories regarding the treatment of white South Africans.

The South African government is currently working on land reform policies designed to address historical injustices. These efforts involve redistributing land from white farmers to Black South Africans, in an attempt to rectify the legacy of apartheid-era land ownership disparities.

The suspension of aid has raised concerns about the future of US-South Africa relations and the potential impact on crucial programs, particularly those addressing HIV/AIDS. In 2023, South Africa received over $400 million in aid from the US, primarily allocated for HIV/AIDS initiatives. The halt in assistance could threaten these vital programs, worsening the country’s already strained fight against the disease.

Critics of Trump’s decision argue that it is based on faulty assumptions and a lack of understanding about South Africa’s land reform policies, which are designed to address inequality rather than target specific racial groups. Many view the suspension as an attempt to placate Trump’s conservative base, rather than a genuine concern for human rights.

The Fifth Floor Conspiracy

By Dorrothy Moyo | ZimEye ~ The Fifth Floor Conspiracy In the heart of the capital, where power was never given but seized, the shadow of betrayal loomed over the 5th Floor Flats.

This was no ordinary building; it was a silent witness to whispered conspiracies, a place where ambitions were either realized or buried. At its entrance, Shumba, a frail old man draped in a Zimbabwean-colored scarf, trembled. His grip on the golden key labeled “State House” was weak, his authority slipping away like grains of sand. Before him stood Soko, a towering soldier with a cruel glint in his eye.

One hand clutched an AK rifle, while the other was outstretched, demanding the key. Behind them, a woman lay lifeless on the cold pavement. Her body, battered and broken, told the story of a war fought in silence. She had been more than collateral—she had been a message.

Soko’s voice rang out, sharp and unforgiving. “Shumba! The time for mercy is over. Give me the key!” Shumba’s fingers trembled. He had ruled for decades, outplaying rivals, silencing enemies, bending the will of the nation to his own.

But now, he faced the monster he had created. “Soko… but you have already taken everything… even her life.”

His voice was barely above a whisper as his gaze flickered toward the fallen woman. A sinister smirk spread across Soko’s face. “Ndogezwa naGeza! The sins of the fifth floor have been washed away. But do you think your crimes have been erased?” Shumba shuddered.

The fifth floor—a place where secrets were buried, where those who stood in the way of power met their end. He had ruled from the top for years, and now, he was being dragged down by the same ruthless hand he had once used to crush others. “Your time is over,” Soko growled, yanking the key from Shumba’s grasp. The golden metal glinted under the fading sun—a symbol of power stolen, an empire overthrown.

As the city of Harare bustled on, oblivious to the silent coup unfolding in the shadows, Soko turned toward State House, his grip on the golden key tightening. Shumba stood frozen, watching his legacy crumble before him. And the 5th Floor Flats?

They stood tall, retaining the blood stains from the brutality of yesteryear.

More Shops Close As Economy Sinks

By Business Reporter- Zimbabwe’s retail sector is reeling under immense pressure, with several major retail chains—including N. Richards, Spar, and OK Zimbabwe—shutting down branches due to the worsening economic crisis.

The situation has reignited calls from industry and commerce sectors for urgent government intervention to salvage the collapsing economy.

The formal retail sector has been grappling with a host of challenges, including high inflation, a depreciating local currency, foreign currency shortages, and stiff competition from a booming informal market.

The introduction of the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency has further complicated the economic landscape, triggering uncertainty and disrupting trade flows.

In recent months, major retailers have struggled to stay afloat.

OK Zimbabwe, one of the country’s largest supermarket chains, has been forced to close several outlets, citing dwindling revenues and rising operational costs.

Spar, another leading retailer, has also downscaled operations, with some franchisees shutting down completely due to unsustainable business conditions.

N. Richards Group, which primarily serves as a wholesaler, has faced similar pressures, with a shrinking customer base as informal traders increasingly source their stock through alternative channels.

These closures reflect deeper economic turmoil in Zimbabwe, where formal businesses are finding it difficult to compete with an ever-expanding informal sector that operates largely outside the tax system.

In an interview with NewsDay this week, Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) president Tapiwa Karoro attributed part of the problem to the government’s taxation policies.

He pointed out that the recently introduced 5% withholding tax on non-registered micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) has discouraged informal traders from purchasing goods through formal wholesalers.

This has driven more transactions underground, depriving the formal economy of much-needed revenue and further squeezing legitimate businesses.

“This has resulted in low tax compliance, reduced productivity, constrained investment, and limited access to social security benefits,” Karoro said. “While the tax measure seeks to enforce compliance, it has inadvertently discouraged informal traders from engaging with formal wholesalers, thereby pushing more transactions into the black market.”

Karoro urged the government to consider a graduated tax structure with lower initial rates to incentivize businesses to register formally.

He emphasized that formalizing the economy is crucial for sustainable economic growth, increased tax revenue, improved business productivity, and greater investor confidence.

The Consumer Council of Zimbabwe (CCZ) has also raised concerns over increasing retail closures.

In a statement this week, the CCZ highlighted that the dominance of informal traders—who often evade taxes and operate without overhead costs—has created an uneven playing field, making it difficult for formal retailers to survive.

“The continued shutdown of formal retailers and wholesalers is a worrying trend that affects consumer choice, product quality, and overall economic stability,” the CCZ statement read. “Many consumers rely on structured retail outlets for price stability and quality assurance. Their collapse could lead to unregulated markets, price distortions, and potential consumer exploitation.”

To address these challenges, industry experts have called for a multi-pronged approach involving incentives, regulatory reforms, enforcement mechanisms, and digital transformation.

They argue that a balanced and inclusive economic environment is essential to reversing the current decline of the retail sector.

Violence Erupts At Zanu PF Meeting Amid Growing Factionalism

By A Correspondent

In a startling incident over the weekend, Zanu PF youths clashed violently during a meeting in Midlands Province, underscoring the deepening factional battles within the ruling party.

Sources within the party have confirmed that the altercation took place on Saturday as party affiliates and youth members faced off amid rising tensions.

The discord comes at a time when Zanu PF is grappling with a fierce internal struggle between two factions. One faction is advocating for an extension of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term in office, seeking to bypass constitutional limits.

On the other side, another faction is fiercely resisting such maneuvers, further dividing the party.

According to Zanu PF sources, the violent clash occurred when party affiliates, who hold influence outside of the party’s official structures, engaged in physical confrontation with members who are aligned with the party’s established hierarchy.

“Zanu PF party structures are no longer supreme as Affiliates members attack Zanu PF Shurugwi Youth Affairs,” an insider revealed.

A particularly intense moment was captured when a woman from the Midlands, identified as Saru, reportedly shouted, “Tipe hembe yedu holding one Comrade,” referencing the alleged chaos at the gathering.

Sources suggest that Saru, a driver of a local kombi (minibus) in the constituency of Minister July Moyo, was involved in the skirmish.

The situation escalated further, with observers calling for intervention from senior party members.

“Boss Hon John Clever Paradza must read a riot act, Affiliates must respect party structures,” the Operation Restore Legacy Facebook page posted on Saturday, emphasizing the need for discipline and respect within the party.

This episode highlights the ongoing rifts within Zanu PF, where power struggles and factionalism continue to threaten the party’s unity. As internal conflicts rise, party officials are under increasing pressure to maintain control and ensure that the party’s structure remains intact.

The altercation serves as a stark reminder that Zanu PF’s internal conflicts are far from resolved, and the coming months may see further clashes as the factions continue their struggle for influence

How to Find Trustworthy Online Casinos for South African Players

Online gambling in South Africa has quickly grown in popularity in recent years, offering players easy access to entertainment and potential winnings. But due to a myriad of platforms offering gambling platforms, it can be difficult to distinguish between reliable and untrustworthy ones – it is vitally important that security, fair play, and responsible gaming remain top priorities when choosing where you play – this guide outlines all essential considerations when selecting a reputable online casino.

Licensing and Regulation

A reliable online casino should operate under a valid gambling authority license issued from an internationally reputable organization such as the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), UK Gambling Commission (UKGC), or Curacao eGaming Authority – these bodies enforce stringent regulations to protect player safety. Fair gaming and responsible financial practices; domestic regulations do exist as well; however, most South African online players rely on internationally certified platforms.

Verifying a casino’s license:

  • Scroll to the bottom of a casino’s homepage to discover its licensing details.
  • Cross-check your license number against the official regulator website to ensure its legitimacy.
  • Ensure the casino displays appropriate regulatory seals and certifications from licensing authorities for transparency.
  • Research whether the licensing body has an established track record of upholding regulations and taking appropriate steps against fraudulent casinos.

Unlicensed casinos should be avoided. Their operations lack oversight, increasing the risks of unfair games, financial fraud, and security breaches. A licensed casino provides legal recourse in case of disputes, making it the safer choice for players.

Data Security and Protection Services in Massachusetts

Online casinos handle sensitive player data such as bank and personal details with care, employing high-level encryption measures and cybersecurity safeguards to protect players against fraud, identity theft, and cyber threats. A reputable platform will also use high-level protection measures against these risks.

Key security features to look out for:

  • SSL Encryption: Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology encrypts data transfers between players and casino servers, protecting sensitive information from being intercepted by hackers.
  • Two-factor authentication (2FA) provides additional security by requiring an extra step for verification, such as sending a code to mobile device users.
  • Secure Payment Gateways: Reputable casinos typically offer reliable payment methods, such as Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, Skrill, and cryptocurrencies, for secure transactions.
  • Firewall Protection: Prevents unwarranted access to player accounts and financial transactions through firewall protection.

Before registering with any casino, carefully examine its privacy policy to learn how it handles and protects user data. Make sure it does not share it with third-party advertisers or external entities without prior consent.

Game Fairness and RNG Certification

Fair play is essential in online gambling, so any trustworthy casino must use Random Number Generator (RNG) software to ensure game outcomes are random, fair, and not manipulated to favor the house unfairly.

To verify game fairness:

  • Look for third-party certifications from testing agencies like eCOGRA, iTech Labs, or GLI (Gaming Laboratories International). These agencies audit casino games for randomness and fairness before certifying them.
  • Check to see whether the casino provides Return to Player (RTP) rates for its games. RTP rates indicate the expected payout percentage over time. Higher RTP rates indicate greater chances of success for players.
  • Read player reviews and independent reports to verify consistent fairness in-game results.
  • Verify the casino doesn’t have a history of altering game algorithms in such a way as to reduce player odds unfairly.

Casinos that do not provide adequate transparency regarding their gaming algorithms should be avoided. Certified casinos regularly undergo audits to ensure compliance with fair gaming standards.

Payment Methods and Withdrawal Policies

The best online casinos in South Africa provide secure banking options, ensuring fast and fair transactions. Be wary of platforms that do not support South African-friendly payment methods, such as:

  • Credit and Debit Cards (Visa, MasterCard and American Express)
  • E-Wallets (Skrill, Neteller, PayPal, and EcoPayz)
  • Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Tether provide privacy-oriented players with financial solutions.
  • Instant EFTs and Local Payment Options such as SiD Secure EFT, Ozow, and SnapScan offer convenient transactions.

Before signing any withdrawal policies at an online casino, take time to familiarise yourself with their policies:

  • Processing Time: Processing times at casinos vary; faster withdrawals indicate an organized casino with effective banking systems.
  • Withdrawal Limits: Many casinos set withdrawal limits based on daily, weekly, or monthly frequencies—make sure they match your expected withdrawal frequency.
  • Verification Requirements: Reputable casinos require identity verification before processing withdrawals to prevent fraud and protect their customers. This process typically includes providing government-issued ID documents such as utility bills or proof of address as part of this verification procedure.
  • Currency Options: Before choosing an online casino, ensure it accepts transactions using the South African Rand (ZAR) to avoid unnecessary conversion fees.

Reading the withdrawal terms and conditions can help avoid delays and hidden fees. Transparent casinos clearly outline their banking policies without leaving you wondering about vague restrictions or hidden charges.

Customer Support and Responsiveness

Reliable customer service is an indicator of an online casino’s trustworthiness. A quality site will offer various support channels and respond promptly to any inquiries that arise.

  • Check for: Live chat support immediately assists in withdrawal delays or technical problems.
  • Email and Phone Support: These two methods offer flexible options for inquiring, with responses often arriving within 24 hours.
  • FAQ Section: An extensive FAQ page can provide quick solutions for common concerns without direct assistance.
  • For an optimum experience, South African casino players should select an establishment that provides support in English and local languages.

Before depositing money, test the support team by asking a few queries. If their responses are slow or lack real assistance, consider looking elsewhere for better assistance.

Features for Responsible Gambling Features

Reputable casinos promote responsible gambling by providing tools that assist in controlling players’ gaming habits. Such features could include:

  • Deposit and Wager Limits: Enabling players to limit how much they deposit or bet over an extended period to avoid overspending.
  • Session Time Reminders: Inform players of their session length so that breaks can be taken and excessive gambling can be avoided.
  • Self-Exclusion Options: Allow users to temporarily or permanently disengage from gambling if desired with temporary and permanent self-exclusion options.
  • Accessing Support Organizations: Trustworthy casinos connect players who experience gambling addiction to support organizations such as Gamblers Anonymous, GamCare, and the National Responsible Gambling Programme (NRGP).

Casinos that lack responsible gambling features may put profit before player health, whereas responsible casinos actively support healthy gaming habits.

Player Reviews and Reputations

Researching other players’ experiences can offer insight into a casino’s trustworthiness. Look for reviews on gambling forums, industry websites, and social media platforms.

  • Consistent Positive Feedback: Look for regular commendations related to security, game fairness, and fast payouts.
  • Complaint Resolution: Assess if the casino responds professionally and effectively to player concerns and resolves them quickly.
  • Warning Signs: Discouragement in winnings distribution, poor support services, or unfair game outcomes should serve as red flags for further investigation.

Independent review sites and gambling communities can help you evaluate a casino before signing up.

Finding a trustworthy online casino in South Africa requires careful investigation and an attentive approach. Checking licensing, security measures, gaming certifications, reliable payment options, and responsive customer support is key to ensuring a positive experience, avoiding scams while gambling confidently, and knowing your money and data are safe.

Kagame “Ignores” Mnangagwa In Tanzania

By Munacho Gwamanda- Rwandan President Paul Kagame, has arrived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, for the EAC-SADC Joint Summit aimed at resolving the ongoing crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

However, his arrival was marked by a notable diplomatic moment that has fueled speculation about escalating tensions between Rwanda and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

In a video of his arrival, Kagame entered a room with African leaders and initially bypassed Zimbabwean President and SADC Chairman Emmerson Mnangagwa, before returning to greet him.

This seemingly minor act has drawn attention, given the recent hostile exchanges between Kagame and SADC leaders, particularly South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The strained relations between Rwanda and SADC intensified last week when SADC, under Mnangagwa’s chairmanship, accused Rwanda of funding the M23 rebels operating in eastern DRC.

During a recent SADC summit in Harare, the bloc explicitly blamed Rwanda for backing the rebel group, which has been responsible for the deaths of 14 South African soldiers deployed as part of the SADC peacekeeping mission in the region.

The accusations triggered a heated diplomatic clash between Kagame and Ramaphosa.

The South African leader openly accused the Rwandan Defence Force of aiding the M23 rebels, escalating the crisis.

Kagame, in turn, dismissed the allegations as misinformation and direct attacks on Rwanda’s sovereignty.

In light of these tensions, Kagame’s initial failure to acknowledge Mnangagwa could be interpreted as a deliberate snub, reflecting the widening diplomatic rift.

His decision to later return and greet the SADC chairman may have been a calculated move to maintain appearances at the high-level summit.

This moment underscores the fragile nature of regional diplomacy, where even seemingly minor gestures carry significant symbolic and political weight.

The deepening rift between Rwanda and SADC leaders has raised concerns over a potential military confrontation that could destabilize the entire Southern African region.

Some analysts warn that Rwanda’s defiance, increasing military involvement in DRC, and aggressive stance toward South Africa could undermine SADC’s authority, weakening the bloc’s ability to mediate conflicts effectively.

Killer Zivhu Makes Bold Promise: “I Will Walk Naked If ZiG Regains Value”

Zivhu’s statement seems to reference the ongoing economic challenges Zimbabwe faces, particularly concerning inflation and the use of alternative currencies.

Top Prophet Predicts Coup

By Munacho Gwamanda- Prominent prophet Ian Ndlovu has predicted a possible coup, warning that Zimbabwe’sdeepening power struggle could escalate.

There is fierce power struggles between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

Unlawful Detention Of Frank Buyanga Sadiqi Sparks Outrage

By A Correspondent| A shocking press statement released by the legal representatives and supporters of Frank Buyanga Sadiqi has exposed egregious violations of his fundamental rights and systemic abuses of power by South African authorities.

Sadiqi, a prominent businessperson and philanthropist, has been subjected to unlawful detention, procedural irregularities, and a blatant miscarriage of justice. His detention contravenes Section 50 of the Criminal Procedure Act, which mandates that an arrested person must be brought before a court within 48 hours.

The statement highlights several key violations, including:

  • Unlawful Detention: Sadiqi was arrested on November 29, 2022, but only brought to court for his first appearance on December 7, 2022.
  • Irregular Registration of SAPS Case Docket: The SAPS case docket was registered without a supporting A1 statement from the complainant, rendering the registration invalid and procedurally flawed.
  • Abuse of Power by the Hawks: The Hawks registered a parallel criminal docket against immigration practitioners who assisted Sadiqi, acting beyond their legal mandate.
  • False Allegations and Lack of Evidence: The state’s case against Sadiqi lacks prima facie evidence, and the complainant’s credibility has been severely compromised.
  • Bail Refusal: Despite offering a substantial bail amount of R12 million, Sadiqi’s bail application was refused, raising concerns about the fairness and impartiality of the justice system.
  • Alleged Escape: Sadiqi has been falsely accused of conspiring to escape from prison, with no evidence to support these claims. This allegation has further compromised his right to a fair trial.

The statement demands the immediate and unconditional release of Sadiqi, dismissal of all charges, and a thorough investigation into the abuses of power by the Hawks, SAPS, and other involved authorities.

The judiciary is urged to expedite the review of Sadiqi’s case and ensure that justice is served without further delay. The statement also appeals to the judicial and executive community, human rights organizations, and all people of conscience to stand in solidarity with Sadiqi.

As reported earlier, Sadiqi’s detention has taken a toll on his health, with reports indicating that he has fallen sick in prison. His supporters argue that his prosecution is “concocted and malicious” and that he has been denied his fundamental rights, including access to private medical healthcare.

The case has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for Sadiqi’s immediate release and an end to the alleged persecution. As the matter continues to unfold, one thing is clear: justice must be served, and those responsible for these egregious violations must be held accountable.

Mnangagwa’s Desperate Regime Announces Cosmetic Measures To Revive Economy

By A Correspondent

As Zimbabwe grapples with an escalating economic crisis, the government is scrambling to implement measures it hopes will stabilize the nation’s deteriorating economy. Despite these attempts, experts are skeptical about the effectiveness of the actions, given the severity of the challenges the country faces.

In a bid to counter the spiraling inflation, devaluation of the local currency, and declining investor confidence, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) recently announced a series of economic interventions. One of the most notable actions involves reducing exporters’ foreign currency retention thresholds. However, many believe that these actions are merely cosmetic attempts to address much deeper economic issues.

During the 2025 Monetary Policy Statement presentation in Harare this Thursday, RBZ Governor Dr. John Mushayavanhu outlined the bank’s strategy to boost growth and stabilize the currency market. He revealed that exporters’ foreign currency retention thresholds would be lowered, signaling a shift towards deeper reliance on the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) for financial transactions.

“To guarantee continued stability in the interbank foreign exchange market, we have augmented the foreign currency supply needed to support the ZiG,” Dr. Mushayavanhu stated. “This means the portion of export proceeds that must be surrendered has increased from 25 percent to 30 percent, effective immediately.”

This move, the governor emphasized, was necessary to bolster Zimbabwe’s currency reserves. However, it also places more pressure on exporters, many of whom are already facing mounting operational challenges. The increased 5 percent surrender requirement, according to Dr. Mushayavanhu, is designed to ensure that exporters mobilize enough ZiG to meet their local currency obligations, including tax payments.

Despite the government’s insistence that these policies are designed to bring stability, critics argue that the root causes of Zimbabwe’s economic collapse—such as a loss of investor confidence, rampant corruption, and mismanagement—remain unaddressed.

“The economy is at a breaking point,” said one economist .

“These measures, while they may provide short-term relief, do little to fix the underlying issues that are driving inflation and unemployment through the roof.”

The use of ZiG, a government-backed digital currency, has been promoted as a solution to the country’s cash shortages and to limit the dependence on foreign currencies. However, Zimbabweans remain wary, given the persistent depreciation of the Zimbabwean dollar and the government’s history of failed economic policies.

“Zimbabweans have little trust in the government’s ability to manage the economy,” said the economist. “The crisis is too deep for cosmetic measures to have any lasting impact.”

As the central bank continues to refine its foreign exchange management system, many Zimbabweans fear that without significant structural reforms, the country will continue to spiral into a deeper economic abyss.

What is Mnangagwa Doing in Tanzania?

By A Correspondent | Dar es Salaam, Tanzania — Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has arrived in Tanzania to chair an extraordinary summit of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the East African Community (EAC). But the burning question remains: What is Mnangagwa really doing in Tanzania?

Mnangagwa in Tanzania

At first glance, the purpose of his visit seems clear—leading the SADC Double Troika in high-stakes negotiations to address the escalating crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Alongside Kenyan President William Ruto, who chairs the EAC, Mnangagwa is overseeing efforts to persuade warring factions to lay down arms and restore peace in the mineral-rich but war-ravaged eastern DRC.

However, is there more to Mnangagwa’s presence in Tanzania than meets the eye?

Diplomacy or Strategic Influence?

Mnangagwa’s role as chairperson of SADC places him at the center of one of Africa’s most complex conflicts, but some analysts question whether Zimbabwe’s leader is simply fulfilling a diplomatic duty or positioning himself as a key regional powerbroker.

This joint summit—an unprecedented meeting between SADC and EAC—signals a shift in Africa’s approach to conflict resolution. The deteriorating security situation in the DRC, worsened by alleged Rwandan support for the M23 rebels, has drawn in multiple regional actors, each with their own interests. Mnangagwa’s leadership in this forum raises questions about Zimbabwe’s own geopolitical ambitions.

Could his presence in Tanzania signal Zimbabwe’s growing influence in regional security affairs? Is Mnangagwa leveraging this summit to assert his leadership beyond SADC’s borders?

A Strategic Military Move?

Zimbabwe has historically played a military role in the DRC, having deployed troops under former President Robert Mugabe during the Second Congo War. Now, with SADC’s military mission in the DRC gaining momentum, could Mnangagwa’s involvement be more than just diplomatic?

There are whispers that Zimbabwe might be angling for a stronger military or economic role in the DRC crisis. The mineral wealth of the eastern DRC—home to vast reserves of cobalt, gold, and coltan—has long been a magnet for regional and international powers. Could Mnangagwa’s presence in Tanzania be linked to Zimbabwe’s interests in the DRC’s lucrative resources?

The Rwanda Factor

Another key question looms over Mnangagwa’s mission: how will he handle the delicate issue of Rwanda’s alleged support for the M23 rebels? President Paul Kagame, who is also attending the summit, has repeatedly denied involvement, despite accusations from the DRC government.

Mnangagwa’s challenge is to balance diplomatic neutrality while pushing for a resolution that aligns with SADC’s stance. However, Zimbabwe’s own historical ties with both Rwanda and the DRC complicate matters. Could Mnangagwa be brokering a behind-the-scenes deal between Kinshasa and Kigali?

Possibility of Collusion: A Hidden Agenda?

Adding to the intrigue surrounding Mnangagwa’s visit to Tanzania is the growing speculation about possible collusion with corrupt motives. Tanzania is the same country where convicted and controversial Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo has been frequently spotted, raising questions about whether Mnangagwa’s presence in Dar es Salaam is purely diplomatic or linked to clandestine business dealings. Chivayo, known for securing questionable government contracts in Zimbabwe, has reportedly been expanding his network in Tanzania—sparking concerns that his business interests could be intertwined with political maneuvering at the highest levels.

Given the secretive nature of Chivayo’s dealings and his close ties to Zimbabwe’s ruling elite, is it possible that Mnangagwa’s trip to Tanzania involves more than just peace talks? Could high-level corrupt dealings be unfolding under the guise of regional diplomacy? If so, what financial or political benefits might be at play, and who stands to gain?

As Mnangagwa chairs this crucial summit, these unanswered questions add another layer of mystery to his presence in Tanzania, raising concerns that the DRC peace process may be a smokescreen for deeper, undisclosed agendas.

A Bid for Political Legacy?

With his term as SADC chairperson giving him a rare international platform, could Mnangagwa be looking to cement his legacy as a statesman beyond Zimbabwe’s borders? Domestically, his leadership has faced criticism over economic struggles and governance concerns. Successfully steering the DRC peace process could boost his standing both at home and in the region.

What Comes Next?

The outcomes of this summit will determine whether Mnangagwa’s presence in Tanzania is a mere diplomatic duty or part of a larger strategic maneuver. If he manages to push warring factions toward a resolution, he could emerge as a key figure in regional diplomacy. But if the talks fail, the crisis in the DRC could deepen, with dire consequences for the entire Great Lakes region.

For now, as the world watches, the question remains: What exactly is Mnangagwa doing in Tanzania?

Mnangagwa In Bid To Bribe War Veterans

By A Correspondent

In a strategic gambit to appease the war veterans and suppress opposition within their ranks, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has rolled out an initiative offering significant perks to former freedom fighters.

This gesture comes as Mnangagwa faces growing dissent, particularly regarding his bid for a third term.

Blessed Geza, a prominent war veteran, recently made waves by publicly condemning Mnangagwa’s third-term ambitions. He criticized the president’s leadership, signaling a deepening divide within the war veterans’ community.

In a statement from the ruling party, Zanu PF revealed that Mnangagwa had ordered the drilling of boreholes at the homes of war veterans.

“President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has directed that each War Veteran have a borehole drilled at their home,” the statement said. The initiative, intended to provide better access to water for the veterans, will commence next week in Mashonaland Central, according to Paul Tungwarara, the Special Presidential Investment Advisor to the United Arab Emirates.

This strategic move appears to be part of Mnangagwa’s efforts to win favor and neutralize any opposition within the influential war veterans’ association.

DJ Masomere Causes Havoc At Masvingo School

By A Correspondent

Parents in Masvingo have expressed growing concern over the impact of DJ Masomere’s sporadic attendance at Ndarama High School, where he works as a teacher.

According to several sources, his unreliability has disrupted the learning environment, and some are pointing the finger at his associations with influential figures, including controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo.

A parent voiced frustration, claiming that DJ Masomere’s behaviour can be traced to his connections with powerful individuals.

“DJ Masomere, because of his interactions with the First Family and corrupt people like Wicknell, now goes to work only when it suits him, sabotaging the children in the process,” the parent stated.

This attitude is believed to be stemming from Masomere’s elevated status due to these connections.

The parent pointed out that Chivayo’s indirect influence is affecting the school system: “It’s clear that Chivayo’s involvement with Masomere is indirectly ruining the education system in this town.

Masomere is now a law unto himself, neglecting his duties because he feels untouchable.”

Despite being a qualified educator and continuing to receive his salary, Masomere reportedly only appears at school when he feels like it, sparking growing dissatisfaction among both parents and school officials.

“The school head is afraid of him,” another parent revealed. “Even those at the district education offices are afraid of him as well.”

A parent from Rujeko Suburb added to the mounting criticism, explaining how Masomere’s behavior has grown more reckless with his newfound connections. “This behaviour is a result of his associations with people in high places.

He even boasts that nothing will happen to him because he’s now a ‘big fish,'” the parent said. “It’s a waste of taxpayers’ money to pay someone who isn’t doing their job properly. If he’s not sitting at home, he’s travelling the country, propagating the unconstitutional 2030 mantra.”

As the situation escalates, many are questioning the accountability of public servants, and whether connections with powerful figures like Chivayo should allow someone to evade their professional responsibilities.

Junta Holds Secret Meeting To Stop Mnangagwa

By Munacho Gwamanda – A group of high-ranking security officials and war veterans are reportedly mobilising to stop President Emmerson Mnangagwa from extending his tenure of office.

Mnangagwa’s push for the #ED2030 agenda—a bid to extend his rule beyond his current term—has met resistance from within, particularly from military-backed Chiwenga loyalists.

This powerful junta reportedly met at a certain farm in Mashonaland Central this week and deliberated on a decisive move to stop President Mnangagwa once and for all.

“You hear what credible war veterans like Blessing Geza are saying. He is not hallucinating; he is communicating a message from the script, and you must listen to him carefully,” said a close source to the group, adding that the junta was losing patience with Mnangagwa’s consolidation of power.

Mashonaland Central has always been the home of anti-Mnangagwa junta activities and a venue for political coups.

The late former Air Force commander Perrence Shiri used to hold secret meetings in the middle of his Bindura Arcadia Dam with his top allies, Paradzai Zimondi, Bindura South MP Remigious Matangira, and top Zanu PF officials in that province.

Both Shiri and Zimondi died under mysterious circumstances during the COVID-19 pandemic, with sources suggesting that Mnangagwa eliminated them.

The two were also part of the 2017 coup that ousted President Mugabe.

While Mnangagwa has worked tirelessly to weaken Chiwenga’s influence, reports suggest that sections of the militaryremain sympathetic to the Vice President.

This has fueled fears that any further sidelining of Chiwenga and his allies could provoke a military response similar to the one that led to Mugabe’s downfall.

Unlike in 2017, however, the current political climate is different—Mnangagwa has fortified his grip on intelligence agencies and purged several senior military officers linked to Chiwenga.

Yet, history has shown that Zimbabwe’s politics remains unpredictable, and if tensions within the security sector escalate, the possibility of another military intervention cannot be ruled out.

The rift between the two leaders, which began shortly after the 2017 coup that ousted Robert Mugabe, has deepened over the years.

Chiwenga, the former military general who played a decisive role in Mnangagwa’s ascension to power, has been steadily sidelined as Mnangagwa consolidates his grip on state institutions and party structures.

Two Chiwenga MPs Fired Amid Coup Rumours

By Munacho Gwamanda-Zanu PF is set to expel two Members of Parliament linked to Chiwenga’s faction as the ongoing power struggle between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

Gutu East MP Benjamin Ganyiwa and Chiredzi North MP Roy Bhila are the two facing the axe, as part of Mnangagwa’s broader strategy to consolidate power and eliminate potential challengers ahead of the 2028 elections.

The Masvingo Zanu PF provincial leadership has already signalled that Ganyiwa should vacate his seat, with party structures reportedly preparing for a by-election.

Meetings have been held across various wards, including Chinyika, Mandeya, and Makudo, where local leaders informed supporters that Ganyiwa had been dismissed.

However, the official stance from Zanu PF Masvingo Provincial Chairman Rabson Mavhenyengwa is that Ganyiwa is merely under a 21-day prohibition order pending final disciplinary proceedings.

The charges against him include failing to reprimand party supporters attacking leadership in a WhatsApp group, holding unauthorized meetings, and allegedly promoting factionalism.

Bhila, on the other hand, faces three charges, including verbally insulting a party member and allegedly using violence against party rivals.

The internal purge comes against a backdrop of heightened tensions within Zanu PF, with Mnangagwa increasingly wary of Chiwenga’s growing influence.

The rift between the two leaders, which began shortly after the 2017 coup that ousted Robert Mugabe, has deepened over the years.

Mnangagwa’s push for the #ED2030 agenda—a bid to extend his rule beyond his current term—has met resistance from within, particularly from military-backed Chiwenga loyalists.

The removal of MPs seen as aligned with Chiwenga signals a preemptive move by Mnangagwa to neutralize potential dissent within the party.

The latest disciplinary actions also coincide with reports of mounting discontent within the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), where factions loyal to Chiwenga are reportedly growing uneasy over Mnangagwa’s consolidation of power.

The firing of Ganyiwa and Bhila has reignited speculation about the possibility of another coup in Zimbabwe.

Several high-ranking security officials have privately expressed concerns about Mnangagwa’s moves, with some suggesting that Chiwenga’s patience is wearing thin.

Yet, history has shown that Zimbabwe’s politics remains unpredictable, and if tensions within the security sector escalate, the possibility of another military intervention cannot be ruled out.

For now, Mnangagwa remains in control, but the ongoing factional battles within Zanu PF suggest that Zimbabwe’s political landscape remains fragile.

The fate of Ganyiwa and Bhila will likely set the tone for future internal party purges, as Mnangagwa seeks to weaken Chiwenga’s base further.

Meanwhile, speculation over Chiwenga’s next move—whether he will continue to play along or take a decisive stand—continues to fuel uncertainty about Zimbabwe’s future.

The Eternal Game: Power, Betrayal

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | For decades, Zimbabwe’s corridors of power have been dominated by a secret game—one where survival is not just about holding onto the throne, but mastering the art of deception, betrayal, and military control. The rules are simple: outmaneuver your rivals, manipulate the army, and eliminate threats—real or perceived—before they eliminate you.

1977 – Maputo: The Exiled Commander

In the heat of Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle, a high-ranking guerrilla leader is sentenced to death by his own comrades. But fate, or something far more cunning, spares him. He reemerges, leading the fighters with a confident smirk. “Army, leave Tongo,” he orders, pushing aside Josiah Tongogara, a revered commander who dies in a suspicious car crash. The soldiers comply, and just like that, the first move is made in a decades-long game of power.

2017 – Gwanda: The Palace Coup

Years pass, and the same man now stands at the center of power. But his former mentor, Robert “Bobo” Mugabe, has become a liability. The country watches as tensions rise. Then, a sudden illness—rumors of poisoning swirl. Mugabe, once untouchable, is forced out. “Army, leave Bobo,” the leader commands, his grin unwavering. Once again, the soldiers shift their loyalty, ensuring his reign continues.

2025 – Harare: The Fall of Maxwell Chikumbutso

As the years roll on, a new kind of threat emerges—not from a rival politician, but from a visionary inventor named Maxwell Chikumbutso. A brilliant mind, Chikumbutso has developed a groundbreaking energy solution—endless electricity, free from fossil fuels, capable of transforming Zimbabwe into an energy powerhouse. But in a system where power thrives on control, true independence is dangerous.

Soon, Chikumbutso falls mysteriously ill. The whispers return—poisoned. His dream of energy independence vanishes overnight. The leader smirks, the pattern repeating itself. “Army, leave Soko,” he commands, and just like before, the soldiers obey.

How to Scam the Whole Army and Always Get Away With It

The secret to ruling is simple: rewrite history, control the narrative, and keep the military in check. The faces change, the years pass, but the game remains the same. One by one, rivals disappear, and the power-hungry mastermind ensures his legacy endures.

Will the cycle ever be broken, or is Zimbabwe doomed to repeat its past?

Chinomona Challenges Geza, Vows to Defend Mnangagwa As Zanu PF Infighting Continues

By A Correspondent

The internal strife within Zanu PF continues to escalate, with the Women’s League boss, Marbel Chinomona, delivering a fierce rebuke to war veteran Blessed Geza.

This comes after Geza publicly criticized President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s push for a third term, accusing him of violating the country’s constitution.

Geza had openly dismissed the idea of Mnangagwa extending his presidency, challenging the Zanu PF leader for his disregard of constitutional principles.

However, the ruling party’s Women’s League and female ministers rallied behind the President’s vision for 2030, asserting their commitment to ensuring Mnangagwa remains in power until the end of his term in line with his Vision to create an upper-middle-income society.

This was reaffirmed at a meeting in Harare on Friday, where the Zanu PF Women’s League and female ministers gathered to discuss opportunities to empower women in the country.

Marbel Chinomona, the ZANU PF Secretary for Women’s Affairs, firmly stated, “We will not be frightened by those war veterans who lack discipline and go against ZANU PF ideology to respect and tow the party line. We want to send a clear message that as women, we constitute over 52 percent of the country and we are fully behind the party resolution that President Mnangagwa will be in office until 2030.”

High Court Rescinds Fraudulent Orders in Botha Gold Mine Dispute

By A Correspondent| In a significant legal victory for Botha Gold Mine Chairman and controlling shareholder Themba Hlongwane, the High Court has rescinded fraudulent court orders, that had been used to orchestrate his removal from the company.

Justice Siyabona Paul Musithu on February 5, 2025, nullified previous judgments that had illegitimately sought to strip Hlongwane of his leadership position and hand control of the mine to a faction of minority shareholders led by one Leonard Rwambiwa .

The legal dispute centered around court orders HCH4802/24 and HCH4255/24, obtained through misrepresentation by Rwambiwa and his group of “rebel shareholders.”

The six rebel shareholders

These orders authorized the hostile takeover of Side Electrical (Pvt) Ltd trading as Botha Gold Mine.

However, Justice Musithu set aside the fraudulent court orders, reaffirming Hlongwane’s leadership.

In a press statement issued on Friday, Botha Gold Mine said, “The fraudulent court orders, HCH4802/24 and HCH4255/24, obtained by a certain band of rebel minority shareholders, have been rescinded by Judge Musithu under HCH5865/24. This development nullifies any claims or actions taken pursuant to the fraudulent order.”

The company also named and disassociated itself from Rwambiwa and five other individuals who had falsely presented themselves as directors, warning the public and stakeholders against engaging with them.

“For the avoidance of doubt, all those concerned, be advised that the following individuals (Munyaradzi Nzarayapenga, Leonard Rwambiwa, Dudzai Ruzvidzo Kajokoto, Ashley Ziyarura Zulu, Simbarashe Nzenza, and Tendai Chinyani )are not directors or representatives of Botha Gold Mine,” reads part of the statement.

Botha Gold Mine also cleared Hlongwane and General Manager Angela Mpofu-Chisvo, who had been falsely accused of misappropriating funds.

“We take this opportunity to sincerely apologise to all innocent individuals who may have been maliciously slandered during this debacle. We particularly apologise to Mr. Themba Hlongwane and Mrs. Angela Mpofu-Chisvo, who were wrongly accused of misappropriating funds and concealing information as part of the decoy that was created by the fraudsters,” added Botha Gold Mine.

The company said it would not recognize any agreements or transactions made by the ousted individuals.

“Botha Gold Mine will not recognise or honour any agreements, contracts, or transactions entered into with the aforementioned individuals. Furthermore, the company totally disassociates itself from any dealings, actions, or representations made by these individuals or anyone claiming to act on their behalf,” said Botha Gold Mine.

The company also called on law enforcement authorities to investigate and prosecute those responsible for the fraudulent legal maneuvers.

Botha Gold Mine said it remains steadfast in supporting artisanal miners and upholding ethical business practices, a vision that Hlongwane has championed throughout his tenure.

Emmerson Mnangagwa’s DJ Masomere Totally Abandons Teaching Duties

By A Correspondent

Parents in Masvingo have voiced concerns over the absence of Mr. Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Disc Jockey, DJ Masomere, from his teaching post at Ndarama High School.

The allegations suggest that the DJ-turned-teacher has become increasingly unreliable in fulfilling his teaching responsibilities.

According to a parent, DJ Masomere’s position as a teacher has been compromised due to his growing influence and connections.

“DJ Masomere, because of his interactions with the First Family and corrupt individuals like Wicknell, now goes to work whenever it suits him, sabotaging the children in the process,” one frustrated parent said.

Masomere, a qualified educator who continues to receive his salary, has reportedly only attended to his duties sporadically, with many raising questions about his commitment. “The school head is scared of him,” another parent revealed.

“Even those at the district education offices are afraid of him as well.”

A parent from Rujeko Suburb added further to the claims, saying, “This behavior is a result of his connections with people in high places. He even boasts that nothing will happen to him because he’s now a ‘big fish.’ It’s a waste of taxpayers’ money to pay someone who isn’t doing their job properly. If he’s not sitting at home, he’s traveling across the country, pushing the unconstitutional 2030 mantra.”

The situation has raised concerns over the accountability of public servants, with many questioning how someone can continue to draw a salary while seemingly neglecting their duties.

Mnangagwa Drills Boreholes For War Veterans in Attempt to Secure Support

Government Officially Extends Retirement Age For Civil Servants

By A Correspondent

The Zimbabwean government has introduced a new regulation that sets the retirement age for civil servants at 70, with options for early retirement and flexibility for those appointed before January 1, 2025.

According to a circular released by the Public Service Commission (PSC), civil servants appointed before January 1, 2025, have the option to retire at 70 and receive their full pension.

However, they can also choose to retire earlier, at 60, subject to approval by the Commission. Additionally, those who were in service prior to January 1, 2025, can retire at 65 by providing notice.

The new regulation, part of the Public Service (Amendment) Regulations 2024, aims to retain experienced workers in the public sector for longer.

However, some civil servants and citizens have expressed concerns about the potential impact on government efficiency.

The regulation also allows for the appointment of individuals over 50 on contract for a specified period.

Furthermore, earlier provisions related to pensionable service remain in force, including the age limit for appointment on pensionable conditions of service, which remains at 50.

The introduction of the new regulation has stirred mixed reactions, with some supporting the policy as a way to retain experienced personnel, while others question its effectiveness.

Just After Bullying Magaya-Victims, Jackie Ngarande Complains Over Own Bullying

Jackie Ngarande: The Hypocrisy of Selective Morality

In a world where social media has become a powerful tool for both advocacy and deception, public figures often find themselves entangled in the contradictions of their own narratives. One such case is that of socialite Jackie Ngarande, whose recent post lamenting past bullying exposes a glaring hypocrisy in her public persona.

Just hours ago, Ngarande took to social media to recount how, seven years ago, a popular male comedian bullied her relentlessly on social media. She claims to have suffered emotional distress from his words and, even today, thinking about it makes her cry. This plea for sympathy portrays her as a victim of cyberbullying, seeking justice and emotional validation from her followers.

Yet, in a stark contradiction, a recent post from January 31st reveals her public support for Prophet Walter Magaya, a religious figure who has been repeatedly accused of sexually exploiting and manipulating women under the guise of spiritual leadership. Magaya has faced multiple allegations, including cases where vulnerable women claim to have been abused and silenced. Instead of standing with victims of abuse—women who have suffered under far graver circumstances than online bullying—Ngarande chooses to defend the powerful, disregarding the plight of those who have suffered real harm.

Selective Victimhood: Why Does Ngarande Only Care When It Affects Her?

Ngarande’s attempt to reignite sympathy for her past experiences rings hollow when compared to her wilful ignorance of the suffering of other women. If she truly understood the pain of being harassed and belittled, why would she turn a blind eye to those making allegations against Magaya? The very same principles of justice, fairness, and accountability that she seeks in her personal experiences should apply across the board, yet she conveniently picks and chooses when to be a champion of justice.

Public Sympathy vs. Genuine Advocacy

What is clear from this duplicitous behavior is that Jackie Ngarande only raises her voice when it personally benefits her. She wants her pain acknowledged but refuses to extend the same support to women whose experiences with oppression and abuse are far worse. Instead of being a true advocate for fairness and justice, she aligns herself with powerful figures for social or financial gain—a classic case of selective morality.

The Bigger Issue: Silence in the Face of Power

Ngarande’s double standards reflect a wider issue in society, where public figures choose their battles based on self-interest rather than principle. If bullying and abuse truly matter to her, she should be consistent in her stance—not only when it suits her victim narrative. Her silence on real, tangible injustices against women—while weaponizing her past social media spats for attention—undermines the real fight against gender-based abuse and cyberbullying.

Jackie Ngarande has a choice: Does she stand for all victims, or just herself? Until she reconciles this contradiction, her credibility as an advocate against harassment remains deeply flawed.

Wicknell Chivayo Disrupts High School Lessons In Masvingo

Betrayal Backfires – Renegade MP Chalton Hwende’s Property Seized in Namibia, Just As UK Judges Order Tshabangu Publicist Must Refund USD25Million

By Farai D Hove | ZimEye | – In a stunning turn of events, former Zimbabwean opposition MP Chalton Hwende, who infamously betrayed the struggle for democracy by siding with political impostor Sengezo Tshabangu and Emmerson Mnangagwa’s regime for financial gain, is now facing the bitter consequences of his actions. Hwende, who once sought refuge in Namibia, is now losing his property in a court-ordered auction, marking a dramatic fall from grace.

The development comes at a time when the girlfriend of the Tshabangu party’s chief publicist has been ordered by UK judges to return over USD25 million Qoki money which the fake-organisation duped investors claiming it was buying retirement homes for them.

According to a High Court of Namibia ruling, Hwende’s property—Erf 316 in Oshikango, Namibia—will be auctioned off to the highest bidder on February 19, 2024, at 10:00 AM. This follows a financial dispute in which Nedbank Namibia Limited successfully sued Hwende and his business entity, Tru-Tale Investments CC, leading to the forced sale of his assets.

Chalton Hwende loses property

The Cost of Betrayal

Hwende, once a key figure in Zimbabwe’s democratic movement, stunned the nation when he aligned himself with Tshabangu, a Mnangagwa-backed political actor accused of working to undermine the opposition. Many viewed his defection as a desperate attempt to secure financial benefits, yet the very wealth he sought has now crumbled, leaving him to face public humiliation.

Auction Details
• Property: Erf 316, Oshikango, Republic of Namibia
• Sale Method: “Voetstoots” (as-is) public auction
• Reserve Price:
• Minimum 75% of municipal value
• Market valuation applies if deemed a primary residence
• Interest Rate: 17.20% per annum, accruing 30 days after sale

This development serves as a stark reminder that ill-gotten gains do not last. Hwende’s fall from political prominence, and now financial stability, sends a clear message: those who sell out their people for personal gain will ultimately pay the price.

With this auction, the once-powerful politician is left to watch as his ambitions crumble—his betrayal of Zimbabwe yielding nothing but disgrace.

For more details on the legal proceedings and auction terms, consult the High Court of Namibia or the Office of the Deputy Sheriff in Oshikango.

We Are Solid, Claims Ziyambi

By A Correspondent

The ZANU PF Mashonaland West Provincial Coordinating Committee met in Chinhoyi on Wednesday, where it was announced that war veteran Blessed Geza had been expelled from the party. The decision was made following accusations of indiscipline and going against the party’s constitution.

ZANU PF Politburo member Ziyambi Ziyambi addressed the media following the meeting, claiming that the leadership within the party remains solid and united. He further emphasized the commitment of the presidium, which includes President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Vice Presidents Kembo Mohadi and General (Retired) Constantino Chiwenga. Ziyambi rejected claims of internal conflict, asserting that the trio has never been involved in any form of discord.

“The leadership is solid,” Ziyambi said. “President Mnangagwa and his two Vice Presidents are united beyond measure. There has never been a day when they engaged in any form of conflict or tension.”

Ziyambi also took aim at those he described as “rogue elements,” such as Geza, who, according to him, sought to represent their personal opinions as the official stance of the party leadership. He warned that any member who violates the party’s constitution would face disciplinary action.

“Some people are trying to push their personal agendas under the guise of the leadership, but we will act against anyone who deliberately breaks our constitution,” he said.

ZANU PF Mashonaland West Provincial Chairperson Mary Mliswa Chikoka reiterated the decision to expel Geza, emphasizing that the action was in line with the party’s stance on discipline and loyalty. Mliswa Chikoka explained that the party had no choice but to expel Geza after his actions contradicted the values and expectations outlined in the party’s constitution.

“Our constitution is very clear on issues of indiscipline and loyalty,” she said. “Geza violated this, and the meeting has resolved to expel him. We are also calling for the stripping of his Central Committee position, as his actions go against what the party expects from its leaders.”

ZANU PF’s Deputy Political Commissar Webster Shamu also spoke on the importance of adhering to the party’s constitution, noting that the decision to expel Geza was not taken lightly.

“We are a party of principle and ideology, and we must follow our constitution. It is never the party’s intention to expel members, but gross violations cannot be ignored,” Shamu explained.

The expulsion of Geza comes after he publicly criticized President Mnangagwa and condemned the resolutions passed at the ZANU PF Annual National People’s Conference in Bulawayo last year. The party’s leadership has worked to present a united front, with a clear message to members that any attempts to undermine the party’s structure or principles will not be tolerated.

N’anga In Trouble For Killing Baby

The healer, Gogo Mashila, attempted to correct a congenital condition affecting the child’s tongue.

According to police in Chiredzi, the procedure went horribly wrong, resulting in severe bleeding that ultimately led to the baby’s death.

The mother, Shylett Runhare, had sought the healer’s help, but the outcome was devastating.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety and efficacy of traditional healing practices, particularly when it comes to vulnerable patients like infants. Authorities are investigating the matter, and the community is left to mourn the loss of a young life.

Masvingo Community In Crisis As New Start Centre Closes

By A Correspondent

In a concerning turn of events, the New Start Centre has temporarily closed its office in Masvingo, leaving many concerned about the future of the vital services they offer. The closure is reportedly linked to the temporary suspension of US funding for Africa, a development that has sent shockwaves through the community.

In an official public notice released on Wednesday, the New Start Centre confirmed the closure.

The announcement has left many individuals who rely on the centre’s services uncertain about their next steps, particularly those who are due for antiretroviral treatment (ART) or pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) refills.

These treatments are vital for individuals living with HIV, and the disruption has raised alarms over the potential health consequences.

A New Start Centre employee, who spoke on condition of anonymity, expressed frustration at the situation, saying, “It’s not looking good, our clients are stranded. We have to wait and see, our hands are tied.”

The closure comes at a time when global health initiatives are facing increasing financial constraints, particularly due to the temporary withdrawal of US funding for African health programs.

This funding, which supports a variety of health services across the continent, has been crucial in providing care and treatment for people living with HIV and AIDS.

The closure of the Masvingo office raises concerns about the broader impact on the region’s public health efforts, with many people now left to seek alternative care from local health facilities. However, there is uncertainty about whether these facilities are equipped to handle the increased demand.

While the New Start Centre has assured the public that assistance can be sought from nearby health facilities, the employee’s statement reveals the frustration and confusion felt by both staff and clients during this difficult time.

For now, the future of the Masvingo office remains unclear, and many are left hoping for a swift resolution to ensure that those in need of critical health services do not fall through the cracks.

Malawi Withdraws Troops From Volatile Congo

By A Correspondent

Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera has directed the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) to begin preparations for the withdrawal of its troops from the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) following the recent deaths of three soldiers in combat.

The Malawian troops are part of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Mission in the DRC (SAMIDRC), a regional initiative established to assist the country in combating armed insurgents. The mission was extended by SADC towards the end of 2024.

In a statement released on Wednesday, February 5, the Government of Malawi confirmed the plans to withdraw its troops from the DRC. The statement read:

“President Chakwera has ordered the MDF (Malawi Defense Force) commander to begin preparations for the withdrawal of Malawian troops… to honour the declaration of a ceasefire by the warring parties there and to pave the way for their planned negotiations towards a lasting peace.”

Malawi’s Information Minister, Moses Kunkuyu, told the BBC Newsday programme that the planned withdrawal was made in good faith. He added that a meeting of southern African leaders held last week in Tanzania, alongside the Africa Energy Summit, resulted in a resolution calling for a ceasefire from all parties involved in the conflict. This decision was made to create space for peaceful negotiations. Kunkuyu explained:

“It is pursuant to that agreement that the president of Malawi has seen it fit to contribute to the peace-building effort by withdrawing troops from the region so that there is that peaceful negotiation.”

Though the withdrawal date has not been specified, Kunkuyu indicated that only the “operational aspects” remained to be finalized.

He also mentioned that the decision had been communicated to both the president of the DRC and the Southern African bloc.

The Malawian president has been under pressure to pull out the country’s forces following the deaths of peacekeepers. Similarly, South Africa has faced calls for troop withdrawal, but President Cyril Ramaphosa has pledged to keep South African troops in the DRC, as they are part of the SAMIDRC mission, which has set operational timelines and an end date.

Malawi, Tanzania, and South Africa have all lost soldiers in the ongoing conflict in the DRC, particularly during clashes with the M23 rebel group in the eastern region.

In related developments, a rebel alliance, including M23 fighters, declared a ceasefire on Tuesday for humanitarian reasons.

Has Wicknell Splashed $150,000 Packages To Make MPs Destroy Geza’s Program?

Zimbabwean MPs Allegedly Offered $150,000 Packages Amid Political Maneuvering

Harare, Zimbabwe – February 6, 2025 | ZimEye | A leaked message circulating on social media has sparked widespread debate over alleged financial incentives offered to Zimbabwean Members of Parliament (MPs). The message claims that MPs have been given $150,000, new vehicles, free import duty for cars, serviced residential stands, and increased salaries as part of a broader political strategy leading up to 2030.

The WhatsApp message

The message further suggests that these perks were designed to secure loyalty, particularly among opposition MPs, hinting at a move to consolidate political power ahead of the next major elections.

Additionally, the message references prominent businessman Wicknell Chivayo, alleging that he is involved in distributing financial incentives to politicians. The phrase “politicians wanofa ne cash” (politicians are drowning in money) underscores the perception of a cash-fueled political landscape.

While these claims remain unverified, they have sparked public outcry, with concerns about corruption, governance ethics, and political co-optation. As Zimbabwe continues to grapple with economic challenges, revelations of such large sums of money being channeled towards MPs could fuel further debate on government priorities.

Awaiting Official Response

There has been no official government response to these allegations yet. However, if confirmed, this development could have far-reaching implications for Zimbabwe’s political dynamics leading up to 2030.

By Munacho Gwamanda- The Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) has confirmed the tragic death of Air Lieutenant Nesbert Tambudza, a promising young pilot from the Air Force of Zimbabwe, after the Karakorum-8 (K-8) jet trainer aircraft he was piloting crashed near Guinea Fowl, just outside Gweru, on Thursday.

The fatal accident occurred during a solo training exercise focused on consolidation general handling navigation.

The crash took place about five kilometers east of Guinea Fowl, where the aircraft was extensively damaged upon impact.

Fortunately, there were no civilian casualties or damage to property reported at the crash site.

The loss of Air Lieutenant Tambudza has left the military community and the nation in mourning.

General Philip Valerio Sibanda, Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, expressed his condolences: “The news of the death of Air Lieutenant Tambudza has been received with heavy hearts. On behalf of the officers, men, and women of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, I extend heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. This is a devastating loss not only to his loved ones but to the entire Air Force and nation,” said the General.

At the time of his passing, Tambudza was in the final stages of his jet flying conversion training at Number 2 Squadron, Josiah Tungamirai Air Force Base in Gweru.

He was learning to operate the K-8, a Chinese-made jet known for its maneuverability and role in training Air Force pilots in advanced combat skills.

Tambudza was seen as an exceptionally talented and dedicated officer, with great potential for the future.

“He was a young and talented pilot with immense potential,” said General Sibanda. “His dedication, skill, and promise made him a standout officer in the Air Force of Zimbabwe. We mourn his passing and honor his contribution to our forces.”

In response to the incident, the Air Force of Zimbabwe has convened a Board of Inquiry to investigate the cause of the crash.

The death of Air Lieutenant Tambudza is the latest in a series of incidents involving Zimbabwe’s Air Force planes, a history marked by crashes that have raised serious concerns about the safety of the country’s military aviation.

One of the most notable and concerning patterns in Zimbabwe’s Air Force aviation history involves several crashes of aircraft used by high-ranking government officials, including President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

These incidents have further amplified worries about the safety protocols and the aging fleet of aircraft operated by the Air Force.

Malawi Withdraws Soldiers From DRC Amid Growing Regional Tensions

Lilongwe – Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera has ordered the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) to begin preparations for the withdrawal of its troops from the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) following the deaths of three Malawian soldiers in combat.

Malawi’s troops are part of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Mission in the DRC (SAMIDRC), a regional military effort aimed at assisting the Congolese government in combating armed insurgents, including the notorious March 23 Movement (M23) rebels.

The mission, initially approved by SADC in late 2023, was set to deploy approximately 5,000 troops from South Africa, Malawi, and Tanzania, with South Africa providing the largest contingent of 2,900 soldiers.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, 5 February, the Malawian government confirmed its intention to withdraw, citing a regional agreement to pursue diplomatic negotiations.

Malawi’s Information Minister, Moses Kunkuyu, explained that last week’s SADC leaders’ meeting in Tanzania, heldalongside the Africa Energy Summit, resulted in a resolution urging all warring parties to observe a ceasefire and allow for peaceful negotiations.

“It is pursuant to that agreement that the president of Malawi has seen it fit to contribute to the peace-building effort by withdrawing troops from the region so that there is that peaceful negotiation,” Kunkuyu told BBC Newsday.

While the minister did not specify a withdrawal timeline, he noted that only operational details remained before fulldisengagement.

Malawian authorities have formally communicated the decision to both Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi and the SADC leadership.

While Malawi has opted to pull out, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to the mission. South Africa has faced domestic pressure to withdraw, particularly after losing soldiers in recent clashes with M23 rebels.

However, Ramaphosa insists that the SAMIDRC deployment has a structured operational timeframe and that pulling out prematurely could jeopardize regional stability.

The instability in eastern DRC is largely attributed to the activities of the M23 rebel group, which Kinshasa accuses of being backed by Rwanda.

Despite multiple denials, President Paul Kagame’s government has been widely implicated in funding, training, and arming M23 fighters as part of its broader geopolitical strategy in the region.

Rwanda’s direct involvement in the conflict has not only strained relations with the DRC but has also led to escalating tensions with South Africa and SADC.

In a shocking escalation, Kagame recently threatened to declare war on South Africa, accusing Pretoria of backing Kinshasa and deploying troops in the DRC to counter Rwandan influence.

This unprecedented diplomatic rift has raised concerns over a potential military confrontation between Rwanda and SADC forces, a scenario that could destabilize the entire southern African region.

The growing friction between Kagame and SADC leaders risks disrupting regional peace efforts.

Some analysts argue that Rwanda’s aggression towards South Africa, coupled with its continued interference in the DRC, could undermine SADC’s authority and weaken the bloc’s ability to mediate conflicts effectively.

Chakwera Pulls Out Of DRC War

Methodist Church Clashes with Borrowdale Residents Over Unauthorized Development

By A Correspondent| The Methodist Church in Borrowdale is embroiled in a dispute with local residents after allegedly proceeding with construction on unauthorized land, despite a 2023 High Court order halting any development.

According to residents, the court ruling blocked the church’s expansion due to the absence of key facilities, including a car park and toilets, as well as concerns over littering by congregants.

“It was stopped because the area has no car park and toilets, and congregants litter everywhere,” a resident said. “We are very surprised to see the church doing this without the approval of the residents.”

A council official, who requested anonymity, confirmed that due processes were not followed and that the land in question is not designated for a church.

“The proper procedures for land use and development were not adhered to, and this particular land is not zoned for church activities,” the official stated.

Efforts to obtain a response from Methodist Church officials were unsuccessful, as church secretary Mrs. Gatsi did not respond to inquiries.

A source, speaking on condition of anonymity, alleged that the church is using fraudulent documents to justify its development.

“They don’t have a development permit from the council,” the source claimed.

The dispute has heightened tensions in the affluent Borrowdale suburb, with residents calling for authorities to enforce the court order. It remains unclear whether city officials will take action against the church’s continued construction.

Tragedy As Two ZESA Employees Are Electrocuted While On Duty

By A Correspondent

Tragedy struck in Hlabiso Village, Rusitu, Chimanimani, on Wednesday, January 22, when two Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution (ZETDC) contract workers, including a teenager, were electrocuted while working on an electrical line.

The victims, identified as Givemore Maphosa and 15-year-old Mozambican national Erai Raimon from Mashiri Village in Maridheya, were performing repairs on a Lower Tension (LT) line connecting the Hlabiso main line to the Jozi homestead.

Acting Manicaland Provincial Police Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka , quoted by The Manica Post, explained the tragic incident.

“On January 22, around 7am, Givemore Maphosa and Erai Raimon, both general hand employees for Hidden Well Contractors, were tasked with repairing the LT line from Hlabiso main line to Jozi homestead, where a nine-metre electrical pole had fallen,” he said.

The two workers were under the supervision of their manager, Tawanda Matsatswa, at the time of the accident.

Chinyoka further revealed that the tragedy occurred because the manager had allegedly failed to ensure that the power supply to the line was switched off before the workers began their task.

“While digging a hole for the pole, their manager left to source additional manpower, but forgot to switch off the power supply from the main line,” Chinyoka explained. “Although there was an electricity blackout in the area at the time, power was restored while the two were still working on the LT line.”

When Matsatswa returned, he found the lifeless bodies of the two workers on the ground. “Upon Matsatswa’s return, he found the lifeless bodies of the two on the ground and immediately switched off the power at the main line,” Chinyoka added. “Matsatswa informed Mushayanembeu about the incident, who reported it to ZRP Chimanimani.”

Upon the arrival of law enforcement and ZETDC officials, they found that the two victims had sustained electrical burns on their hands and legs, and their bodies were still in contact with the power lines. “When ZRP Chimanimani and ZETDC officials arrived at the scene, they found evidence of electrical burns on the hands and legs of the deceased duo. Their bodies were still in contact with the power lines,” said Chinyoka. “The two bodies were taken to Chipinge District Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.”

This tragic accident has once again highlighted the dangers faced by electrical workers and the critical importance of safety protocols to prevent such incidents.

Top Joshua Nkomo Aide Dies

By Munacho Gwamanda- Former ZIPRA senior member, ex-Governor, and Resident Minister, Cde Tinaye Chigudu, has died.

He died in Harare on Wednesday.

Cde Chigudu, a veteran of Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle, was a dedicated cadre of the Zimbabwe People’s Revolutionary Army (ZIPRA), the military wing of the Zimbabwe African People’s Union (ZAPU).

He underwent military training in North Korea and rose through the ranks within ZIPRA, playing a pivotal role in the armed struggle against colonial rule.

After independence, Chigudu served in various government positions, including as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Despite his contributions to the liberation movement, his political trajectory, like that of many ZIPRA cadres, was shaped by the tumultuous post-independence relations between ZANU and ZAPU.

Following independence in 1980, ZIPRA and its leadership faced systematic marginalization and persecution by the ruling ZANU government, led by Robert Mugabe.

Tensions escalated as ZANU sought to consolidate power, leading to the infamous Gukurahundi massacres of the 1980s, in which thousands of Ndebele civilians, accused of supporting ZIPRA, were killed by the Fifth Brigade.

ZIPRA’s military assets were forcibly confiscated, and many of its members were arrested or driven into exile.

The 1987 Unity Accord between ZANU and ZAPU, brokered under immense pressure, saw the absorption of ZIPRA forces into the national army and ZAPU’s leadership into ZANU-PF structures.

However, former ZIPRA cadres continued to face political exclusion and were often sidelined from key government positions.

Despite these challenges, Chigudu remained loyal to the ruling establishment and was honored by the failing post Mugabe government alongside Colonel (Retired) Joel Samuel Mazhambe and Shadreck Chipanga for their pioneering roles in the liberation struggle.

Authorities in Chiredzi are investigating the matter, and the community is left to mourn the loss of a young life.

Ziyambi Accuses War Veteran Geza Of Murder…

By A Correspondent

ZANU PF Politburo member and Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Ziyambi Ziyambi, has announced that the party intends to request Police Commissioner-General Stephen Mutamba to arrest war veteran and Central Committee member, Blessed Runesu Geza, on charges of murder.

Speaking at a ZANU PF meeting in North Court, Zvimba East Constituency, on February 3, Ziyambi emphasized the need for an investigation into an alleged incident from several years ago, where Geza was accused of being involved in the death of an unnamed individual at his homestead.

Ziyambi stated:
“In the past, he murdered someone at his homestead and the case was not thoroughly investigated.

If you murder someone, the case does not just disappear, we’re going to tell Mutamba to investigate.”

Ziyambi’s comments come amid growing tensions within the party, with ZANU PF’s Mashonaland West Province recommending the expulsion of Geza from the party.

The expulsion suggestion is based on allegations that Geza has been undermining and threatening President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Geza, known for his outspoken criticism, has accused President Mnangagwa of violating the constitution, worsening corruption, and betraying the principles of the liberation struggle.

He has also demanded Mnangagwa’s immediate resignation, making his position within the party increasingly precarious.

Alarm as New Start Centre Closes Masvingo Office

EcoCash Crashes

By Business Reporter-Thousands of Econet Wireless subscribers were left stranded on Wednesday after the company’smobile money platform, EcoCash, crashed, further fueling frustration over the network provider’s service quality.

The outage, which lasted from 2 PM to 3:30 PM on February 5, 2025, disrupted financial transactions for individuals and businesses alike.

In a statement, Econet acknowledged the system failure but assured customers that services had been restored.

“We experienced some issues on the platforms that enable our subscribers to make calls, use data, or carry out EcoCash transactions, resulting in some of our customers being unable to use the services for about an hour and a half, starting around 2 PM to 3:30 PM today (February 5, 2025). We are pleased to advise that the challenges have since been successfully resolved, and all services have been fully restored. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused our valued customers.”

This latest disruption comes amid mounting dissatisfaction among Zimbabweans over Econet’s declining service reliability, high costs, and frequent system failures.

Over the years, Econet—Zimbabwe’s largest telecommunications provider—has been criticized for offering expensive yet inconsistent services.

Users have often complained about dropped calls, slow internet speeds, and the unreliability of its mobile money service, EcoCash, which is a critical platform in a country where cash shortages make digital transactions essential.

Econet’s services have been plagued by persistent breakdowns, with EcoCash being particularly notorious for downtime during peak transaction periods.

Customers regularly face delays in sending and receiving money, failed transactions, and difficulties in accessing their funds.

This has raised concerns over the company’s capacity to manage its growing subscriber base effectively.

Adding to customer grievances are Econet’s exorbitant tariffs.

Zimbabweans pay some of the highest mobile data and voice call rates in the region, despite the subpar quality of service.

Frequent power cuts and a lack of adequate investment in infrastructure have been blamed for the poor service delivery, yet the company has continued increasing its prices under the pretext of adjusting to inflation and operational costs.

The latest EcoCash failure comes at a time when global satellite internet provider Starlink, owned by Elon Musk’sSpaceX, is making inroads into Zimbabwe.

Starlink has been touted as a revolutionary force in the country’s telecommunications sector, promising fast, reliable, and affordable internet services.

Unlike traditional mobile network operators like Econet, which rely on terrestrial towers, Starlink provides high-speed internet via satellite, offering a more stable connection even in remote areas.

Starlink’s impending launch in Zimbabwe has sparked excitement among consumers desperate for an alternative to the existing telecom monopoly.

Many hope that the entry of the satellite internet provider will not only improve service quality but also push Econet and other players to reduce their tariffs and enhance network efficiency to remain competitive.

While Econet remains the dominant player in Zimbabwe’s telecommunications sector, its repeated service failures and high costs have left many Zimbabweans eager for change.

With Starlink poised to offer a cheaper and more efficient alternative, the pressure is mounting on Econet to eitherimprove its services or risk losing customers to a new, more reliable competitor.

Buyanga petitions SA Presidency demanding release

Businessman, Frank Buyanga Sadiqi, has petitioned the South African Presidency, demanding his release following his detention in a Johannesburg facility over allegations of kidnapping, fraud and financial crimes in 2022.

However, through his legal team, the Hamilton Foundation, he argued new evidence exposed a systematic abuse of power, fabricated charges and judicial manipulation.

The businessman-cum-philanthropist believes these all point to a politically motivated effort to keep him imprisoned.
He argued he had been subjected to “unlawful detention, procedural irregularities, and a blatant miscarriage of justice.”

“We implore the South African government, the judiciary, the South African Human Rights Commission, and the international community to intervene and rectify this grave injustice,” Hamilton Foundation stated.

The unlawful detention relates to the Criminal Procedure Act, which mandates that an arrested person must be brought before a court within 48 hours.

Sadiqi was arrested and charged on November 29, 2022, and revealed he was only brought to court for his first appearance on December 7, 2022, as indicated in his court records.

The legal representatives also query the docket opened in Orlando, Soweto, which was registered on November 16, 2022 without a supporting statement from the complainant. The complainant’s statement was reportedly only filed nine days later.

It has emerged the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) registered a second, parallel docket in Sandton in September 2004, against the immigration practitioners who assisted Sadiqi in submitting his ID application.

The accused said despite the absence of a prima facie case, new evidence proving no wrongdoing, and an offer of R12 million for bail, the National Prosecuting Authority had persistently refused to grant Sadiqi bail.

Police and the state have accused of conspiring to escape from prison, hence he has been declared a flight risk. His team has rejected this.

Court documents indicate he is a South African resident and ‘dual nationality holder’ of the United Kingdom and Zimbabwe.

Recently Attorneys of South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, said they will abide by that country’s Constitutional Court’s decision following an application made by Buyanga who had recently launched another bid for freedom.

A warrant of arrest was issued against him by a Harare magistrate after he took the boy to South Africa without the mother’s consent.

At one point, the warrant was cancelled, only to be reinstated after the prosecution successfully applied for its reinstatement at the High Court early last year.

Buyanga was once granted R150 000 bail by the Randburg Magistrates Court, but he was immediately re-arrested on a charge of breaching South African immigration laws.

King Munhumutapa Freed After One Month In Jail

By A Correspondent| The High court has set free Timothy Chiminya, a traditional leader, who had spent more than one month in prison after he was arrested and charged for allegedly undermining authority of or insulting President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Chiminya, who was arrested by some Zimbabwe Republic Police officers on 16 December 2024 and charged with undermining authority of or insulting the president as defined in section 33(2)(a)(ii), had languished in prison after he was denied bail on Wednesday 8 January 2025 by Harare Magistrate Sheunesu Matova, who ruled that he is a security threat and did not deserve to be released from prison as he had dethroned some traditional leaders, who were installed by President Mnangagwa and that some subjects of the Chiefs, who were removed, were bound to “fight” the Chiefs, whom he had installed.

This compelled Chiminya’s lawyer Gift Mtisi of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, to file an appeal against Magistrate Matova’s decision at Harare High Court on Tuesday 7 January 2025, seeking his release from detention on bail.

On Friday 31 January 2025, High Court Judge Justice Faith Mushure upheld Chiminya’s appeal and set aside Magistrate Matova’s decision denying the traditional leader bail.

In granting bail to Chiminya, Justice Mushure ordered him to pay US$200 or its ZiG equivalent as bail surety and restricted him to a 25 kilometre travel radius from Harare Central Police Station until his matter is finalised.

The Judge also ordered Chiminya to report twice every week on Mondays and Fridays at Harare Central Police Station until his matter is finalised including surrendering his passport with the Clerk of Court at Harare Magistrates Court.

The traditional leader was also ordered not to interfere with state witnesses or investigations and to continue residing at his given residential address until his matter gets finalised.

Chiminya returns to court on 5 March 2025.

Joy For Zvigananda As Chiwenga Hands Over Power Back To Mnangagwa

By Munacho Gwamanda-Vice President Constantino Chiwenga officially returned to his position as the country’s second-in-command on Wednesday following the return of President Emmerson Mnangagwa from his month-long leave.

Chiwenga had been serving as Acting President for the past 10 days, having taken over from his co-deputy, Kembo Mohadi, who held the role for 19 days.

Chiwenga’s brief tenure as Acting President reignited long-standing tensions within Zanu PF, particularly between himself and Mnangagwa’s loyalists.

Over the years, the rivalry between the two has deepened, dating back to the 2017 coup that ousted Robert Mugabe.

While the military played a pivotal role in installing Mnangagwa as President, Chiwenga, then the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) commander, was widely perceived as the real architect of the power shift.

Since then, factional battles within Zanu PF have intensified, with Chiwenga’s camp angling for succession in 2028 when Mnangagwa is expected to step down.

During his recent stint at the helm, Chiwenga did not shy away from flexing his political muscle, issuing thinly veiled threats to Mnangagwa’s inner circle.

Addressing his supporters, he warned Mnangagwa’s loyalists, whom he derisively referred to as Zvigananda (bootlickers), that their time was running out.

He further suggested that some of them could face jail time when he ascends to the presidency in 2028.

This bold declaration sent shockwaves through Mnangagwa’s camp, as it was perceived as a direct challenge to the sitting President’s authority.

Despite the evident friction, Presidential spokesperson George Charamba downplayed any tensions upon Mnangagwa’s return.

In his statement, Charamba avoided addressing the political undercurrents, focusing instead on economic matters.

“The President is now officially back from his leave, and as you may know, there have been certain economic developments in the past few weeks. Remember, he had to break his leave last week to chair a meeting that focused on economic developments in the country. His major focus will now be on the economy, and some major decisions will be made in that regard,” Charamba stated.

Mnangagwa’s return also coincides with his upcoming diplomatic engagements.

He is set to lead a Southern African Development Community (SADC) delegation to Tanzania later this week for an extraordinary joint meeting with the East African Community (EAC) to discuss the security situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

While these international responsibilities take precedence, analysts argue that Mnangagwa will also have to turn his attention to the growing rift with Chiwenga and the internal power struggles that could shape Zimbabwe’s political future.
