Botswana Stopped 2008 Civil War in Zimbabwe, Study Claims

President Ian Khama’s government of Botswana successfully worked on and managed to stop civil war in Zimbabwe after the 2008 election, a scientific study argues.
The paper titled “Botswana and Pivotal Deterrance in the Zimbabwe 2008 Political Crisis,” argues that had it not been for Botswana’s deliberate actions, Zimbabwe would have plunged into civil war following the 2008-9 era.
The paper was researched and written by scholars at the University of Botswana: Obonye Jonas, David Mandiyanike, and Zibani Maundeni.botswana-flag
This article seeks to explain the pivotal role that Botswana played in the light of the Zimbabwe political crisis after the 2008 election. It argues that Botswana was able to apply pivotal deterrence in Zimbabwe between the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) that claimed to have won the March 2008 presidential election and the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU PF) that claimed to have won the June 2008 presidential re-run election in which Robert Mugabe stood alone. This article deploys the theory of ‘pivotal deterrence’ to investigate the influence that Botswana had over the MDC and ZANU PF.
The enduring amity of Southern Africa was nearly disrupted in 2008, when Zimbabwe nearly slid in a civil war following the disputed elections which returned Robert Mugabe to power after his arch-rival Morgan Tsvangirai withdrew from the presidential race citing escalating state-sponsored violence. EXCLUSIVE: Chiyangwa School Headmaster Speaks On Unpaid Teachers Salaries

The headmaster of the school built and reportedly ‘owned’ by flamboyant businessman Phillip Chiyangwa has spoken for the first time and in an attempt to dismiss reports by the faceless social-network cult guru Baba Jukwa that teachers have not been paid for five months to date.
The headmaster may have demonstrated that Baba Jukwa last week played the crucial role of forcing the school to pay the teachers.

Denial…Christopher Tapera

The school head Mr Christopher Tapera told ZimEye in an exclusive interview the reports of his school delaying the salaries of teachers for five months are not true. Although he invited our reporter to the school offices to see documentation, he admitted that there have indeed been delays in paying teachers’ salaries but said that these were for the month of August which have only been paid today as per his words. The timing of the payment may show that Baba Jukwa’s pressure on the matter forced Chiyangwa’s management to release the needed funds.
“Going by what was written in the ZimEye Saturday, Sunday it is incorrect. Teachers were paid up to end of July and as I speak to you right now we have already paid them their August salaries. So we don’t owe teachers at all it is unfortunate that when this article was published we were not accorded an opportunity to air our side of the story,” he said.
On the matter of overcharging parents, Mr Tapera said that his school’s fees are slightly over USD1300, and so are actually lower than many other schools which charge at least USD2800 per term.
He further dismissed reports of Mr Phillip Chiyangwa being in control of the school saying that the school is managed by a directors’ or trustees’ board. When asked further about the board membership, he however admitted that the board is actually headed by a certain Mr Edmund Chiyangwa, and the board of trustees has two Chiyangwa’s at the helm.
Watch this space for the full interview which will be published by Midnight Tuesday.

UK Govt Approves Zanu PF To Operate Locally In Britain

ZANU PF now a British party? Just about exactly!
(London)President Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF party has been given the all clear to begin operating in Britain, ZimEye can exclusively reveal.
This development follows an expose’ by this publication on ZANU PF’s operations in the UK in recent months as they prepare to meet Prime Minister David Cameron.
The move is a revival of the historic relationship Mugabe’s party enjoyed with The Iron lady, former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the 80s.simmonds_zanuPFcleared
ZimEye can further reveal that ZANU PF will now be recognised just like any other local British party and may soon open a bank account among other things.
” There would be no bar on your activities here in the UK, providing they do not contravene UK law, as is the case for any political party,” Foreign and Commonwealth Office, MP Mark Simmonds said in a statement.
A meeting is now to be held with ZANU PF’s chairman Nick Mangwana in the next few days where the latter is expected to air ZANU PF’s concerns.
Commenting on the development top Huddersfield University Lecturer Dr Nkululeko Sibanda said the development speaks a lot about ZANU PF than it does the opposition MDC.
“I think the indication is that this says more about MDC than it says about ZANU PF, ” said Sibanda. He added, “it is an indication that the MDC is losing ground considerably. Because once it was difficult for ZANU PF to operate in the UK, you would then say that ZANU PF is gaining considerable ground launching a massive international offensive.”
But Sibanda also voiced that the British government has not been consistent in their international policy of condemning ZANU PF while at the same time cooperating with the party. “At the same time it is an indication that the British are not consistent as they are literally now opposing themselves. ZANU PF operatives are going to be free to operate in here and spy on people. I think its a step backwards,” he said.
But political analyst George Shire said there have never been any intelligence operatives in the UK.
“There never were ZANU PF operatives,” said Shire. He added:
“ZANU PF hasn’t got enough money to pay anyone to be an operative you know. For ZANU PF to be interested about someone in Britian, they must be doing something of use and people are not. Its an illusion for people to think they are bigger than ZANU PF.”
Shire said the development has no significance at all as ZANU PF has never been banned in the UK and so the real matter at hand is the issue of sanctions which must be removed.
“The issue with the British government should be whether or not the sanctions are in place. By virtue of them being in place, it means that we cannot operate freely. Its not that we are not ready to put those structures in place, the sanctions should go first,” he said.

Storm Brews Over JOMIC 4×4 Cars

A storm is brewing between JOMIC officials and government following a directive from Dydmus Mutasa ordering all JOMIC officials to return the 4×4 vehicles given to them by government for purposes of executing their duties during the life of the Government of National Unity.
JOMIC liason officers from the three political parties in Manicaland have vowed to keep on to their vehicles despite calls by the chief secretary of the President and cabinet for the immediate withdrawals of the vehicles by the 20th of September.
Last week a press statement was issued calling for the withdrawal of the vehicles. The vehicles are to be surrendered to the nearest CMED Deport. Jomic has 7 vehicles in each province and each party has two.
In his memo to JOMIC vehicle users, the chief secretary to the President and cabinet said the role of JOMIC ended with the demise of GNU. However, a survey in Manicaland has indicated that all individuals using the vehicles are still holding on to them arguing that they should be given the cars as exit packages. Those interviewed said the government was being very unfair and insensitive to them by withdrawing the vehicles when they allowed government ministers to go with their vehicles.

At bitter war... 4x4 Vehicle
At bitter war… 4×4 Vehicle

They are arguing that most senior civil servants and head of government departments normally are given the option of buying the vehicle on book value at the end of the contract. All the ministers in the just ended inclusive goverment were given the option of buying their vehicles at book value.

A visit to the CMED Provincial headquarters this afternoon has shown no sign of any vehicle that has been surrendered.
One of JOMIC Provincial cordinators who declined to be named told ZimEye that the National cordinator Patience Chiradza has told through a MEMO all JOMIC officers to hold on to their vehicles until they get a communication from the National Co_Chairpersons: Elton Mangoma, MDC T Nicholas Goche Zanu pf and Priscillah Musihairambwi MDC N.

Tsvangirai Gobbles 400 Litres Fuel As He Retrenches Workers

Former PM Morgan Tsvangirai has assumed a full time job at Harvest House but now gobbles up 400 litres of petrol at a time when he is retrenching workers, giving them a paltry 2 months salary package.

Now useless?... Morgan Tsvangirai
Now useless?… Morgan Tsvangirai

It has emerged the party is bankrupt to the bone and this is the reason why Treasurer General Roy Bennett has been calling for Tsvangirai’s immediate resignation.
Tsvangirai now starts work at 9am and knocks off at 5pm Monday to Friday. He uses three vehicles which consume an average of 400 litres of fuel a week. The standing committee sits every Wednesday and each of those 12 members need allowances for food and transport.
Harvest house has embarked on a massive retrenchment plan called Soft Landing. Each department is going to remain with three staffers. The retrenchments will also cascade to provinces. There will be one admin worker in the province, one driver and one security guard. Press officers in the provinces have been given notice to look for alternative employment. As exit packages those affected would be given two months salaries. The MDC-T wage bill is currently standing at $94 000 a month and mainly funded by the Political Parties Finance Act funds but will now be lower than before since their numbers in parliament have gone down.
It is also because of the donor fatigue that the party summoned all workers to Harvest house on Tuesday to warn them of the retrenchment plan code named Soft Landing. The Organising Department which used to have over 20 workers will now have only 3 workers just like any other department. Information which has Robert Mandeya, Lawrence Paganga, Yvone Mashie, one only known as Abigail, and the office assistant will also have to to remain with three. The choice of who remains lies with the Director General Mr Toendepi Shonhe.
There were unconfirmed rumours that Tsvangirai’s personal advisor Alex Magaisa has since relocated to the UK following the election defeat but Magaisa appeared to dismiss them.
It is believed that a big percentage of the money which will be received from government will go towards some allowances of the big people in the party who are now jobless after the GNU. The Party Treasurer general Roy Bennett told his colleagues at Harvest house that the party is broke and cannot continue looking for money without proper accounting and there is a disturbing fatigue in the donor community to fund the party.

While a statement was awaited at the time of writing, ZimEye can reveal that a disciplinary committee was convened this afternoon in Mutare. But there was drama when MDC-T youths began shouting, charging, baying for the blood of four councillors who voted for a ZANU PF deputy mayor.
At the time of writing, police officers had arrived in Santana trucks at the site where MDC-T supporters were.
Thomas Nyamupanedengu(pictured) was installed by Morgan Tsvangirai to be mayor of Mutare but later on Nikuved by the four MDC-T councillors working with Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF party.

A statement from the party is expected anytime soon.

EU In Shocking U-turn, Scraps Sanctions On Zimbabwe Diamond Company – Report

The European Union has performed a U turn on Zimbabwe by lifting sanctions on the Zimbabwe Diamond Company, a report states.
Although an independently verifiable person could not be reached on Tuesday, Europe based reports stated that a yet unamed EU official has said the body is now lifting sanctions on Zimbabwe.
The report quoted the unnamed official saying the EU has “begun the process of delisting” Zimbabwean persons from the Mugabe-targeted sanctions which were meant to influence democratic reforms. This came at a time when the country’s recent elections were slammed by the same body. It is thus believed that the EU has contradicted itself since two months before elections it had stated that sanctions would be reviewed upon credible elections being held in the country.
Huddersfield top lecturer and political commentator, Nkululeko Sibanda has said that there appears to be desperation on the EU’s position to lift sanctions.
“As  a matter of fact the EU is impatient to lift the sanctions on Zimbabwe necessarily because the main parties are arguing ….that the sanctions are no longer necessary or effective in achieving democracy in the country. And therefore it would seem to me though that they are looking for an excuse. Which raises an excuse to remove them. It raises the question as to whether or not all along they saw them as an effective tool for promoting democracy at all, rather than just a political gimmick on their side.  It certainly raises eyebrows as to why a mere referendum would be seen as important in determining democracy in Zimbabwe…,” he told ZimEye earlier in the year.

Bennett Furious As MDC-T Calls For Tsvangirai’s Resignation Intensify

(ANALYSIS)He once bludgeoned Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa in parliament right before onlookers, and his party know him to be a frank no nonsense person – MDC-T Treasurer General Roy Bennett has this week fearlessly turned his ‘body’ on his boss Morgan Tsvangirai saying he must immediately resign and handover to others.
Bennett told reporters Tsvangirai has had his time, fought well, and stood on, but must now resign to save the party from total collapse.
His comments come as top Tsvangirai confidante Nelson Chamisa revealed that party heavyweights actually want Tsvangirai to continue ruling for another 20 continuous years. He told ZimEye soon after our reporters queried with Chamisa on the MDC-T’s announced plans to retain Tsvangirai until he is an octogenarian (80 years old and above), “that question you raised with Chamisa is crucial and important because I was there when they changed the constitution,” he said of the time when MDC-T bosses secretly signed a deal to lengthen Tsvangirai’s presidency without informing the rest of the party.
In another interview this week with a South African publication BDLive, Bennett further burst out dismissing Tsvangirai’s leadership relevance after the July 2013 elections.
“Mr Tsvangirai has served two terms and is nearly completing a third,” Mr Bennett said. “Deep introspection needs to be undertaken by our national collective leadership, not for purposes of looking for scapegoats, but for our party to reinvigorate its leadership with a leadership which reflects the will of our people,” said Bennett.
He even suggested that the only reason why Tsvangirai is hanging on is because of a small ruling elite in the central committee whose positions will be affected by a leadership change. “Regrettably some within our leadership, as in the case with many political parties, do not wish the grassroots democratic will of the people to prevail,” he said.
Bennett’s calls were this week part of a hot topic on leadership succession which trended with thousands flooding on social websites but which was dominated with talk on Tsvangirai’s future as leader of the MDC-T party as many began saying the former trade unionist should pass the baton. Meanwhile some top MDC-T cadres who spoke on condition of anonymity voiced that an attempt by Tsvangirai and close allies to stay on will only give more power for ZANU PF to continue ruling as this automatically demotivates the democracy spirit which the party claims to subscribe to.

Alex Magaisa Not Quitting, Rubbishes Journo

Outgoing Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s personal advisor, Dr Alex Magaisa has laid into a pseudo-journalist who wrote a story claiming that he has given up his job as Tsvangirai’s advisor.
In a strongly worded message, Magaisa offloaded his disgust at the ‘idiot’ journo’s behaviour which he described as base ‘gutter.’
Magaisa who is on holiday in the UK, was shocked to read his name in the story published in a website which claimed to even quote him stating he had quit his job for the sake of his family.
Below was his short statement he issued from his social networking portal:

Dr Alex Magaisa
Dr Alex Magaisa

Normally, I would not comment on items from the gutter press. But I am aware friends, colleagues, relations and supporters of the party who might otherwise believe every word they read on the internet may be in need of clarification. In doing so, one runs the risk of dignifying creations of hands and minds that belong to the gutter; imaginary stories in which a pseudo-journalist (because that individual cannot properly lay claim to the title of being a journalist) makes no attempt whatsoever to get a comment from the subject of his/her story. But on this occasion, I must do so nevertheless.
The story that you may have come across in recent days, apparently alleging that I have quit my advisory role, is completely false and without foundation. No one has spoken to me and how they come up with such nonsense is beyond me. Unfortunately, in the age of “copy and paste” journalism, I observe that even websites that might otherwise claim some iota of credibility have joined the race to the bottom to publish nonsense without verifying.
Friends, you will probably see more of this nonsense as time goes by. Normally, I would not comment on items from the gutter press. But I am aware friends, colleagues, relations and supporters of the party who might otherwise believe every word they read on the internet may be in need of clarification. In doing so, one runs the risk of dignifying creations of hands and minds that belong to the gutter; imaginary stories in which a pseudo-journalist (because that individual cannot properly claim to the tile of being a journalist) makes no attempt whatsoever to get a comment from the subject of his/her story. But I must do so nevertheless. The story that you may have come across in recent days, apparently alleging that I have quit my advisory role, is completely false and without foundation. No one has spoken to me and how they come up with such nonsense is beyond me.
Unfortunately, in the age of “copy and paste” journalism, I observe that even websites that might claim some iota of credibility have joined the race to the bottom and publish nonsense without verifying. You will probably see more of this nonsense as time goes by, all in the name of propaganda. If it persists, one may have to consider legal options.
All I can advise is be a critical reader; you will save yourself from swallowing the garbage served in the name of journalism. If some idiot wakes up one bad morning and announces to the world that Magaisa is now a woman, I am not going to run around naked to prove that I am still a man.

Hyena Attack Latest: 10 yr Old Girl Still In Critical Condition

The 10 YEAR OLD GIRL from Buhera South, Noria Musapukira, who was on Tuesday attacked by a stray hyena, is in a critical condition, ZimEye has been exclusively told.
The local MP HON Joseph Chinotimba revealed this as he told ZimEye he has managed to secure the funds for the victims from the powerful Mbada Diamonds company.
Earlier reports had suggested that Noria had merely lost her right eye following the attack.
But MP Chinotimba while on his way from Parirenyatwa told ZimEye on Thursday afternoon, Noria is in a critical condition at present having suffered several other wounds. When asked when Noria could be leaving the hospital Chinotimba replied:

Hyena attacks on humans

“I wouldn’t say anything about her because I am not a doctor, ma doctor ndivo vanoziva kuti achabuda rinhi. What I know is she is in a  critical position. But I can not rule when pa achabuda; I wouldn’t tell you anything about that.”
Chinotimba revealed more details on Noria’s condition:
“Ari pa critical condition because anga arumwa musoro ka. Ndobva abviswa rimwe ziso. I cannot rule when she is going out.”
Chinotimba also revealed that he managed to secure funding from the Mbada Diamond company to cover all the bills  for 5 of the villagers attacked by the animal yesterday.
Chinotimba said he has since appealed to the National Parks and Wildlife government department to extend its coverage to Buhera since the area’s villagers are under attack from wild animals including lions.
The new MP of Buhera South also said the reason why ferrocious animals are straying into human habitations is because there is no more animal prey in the area.
“Hakuchina mhuka ku Buhera,” said Chinotimba.
At 5PM on Tuesday the hyena attacked the Grade 5 pupil at Muchuwa Primary School in Chief Nyashanu area. The state broadcaster, ZBC reported that the injured girl’s mother, Mrs Musapukira said Noria and her elder sister were coming from the market around 5.30pm on Tuesday when they saw something which they suspected to be a baboon but they soon noticed that it was a dangerous animal when it made a laughing sound and started charging at them. She is said to have fallen while trying to runaway from the hyena, which then pounced on her. Other villagers and passersby ran to her rescue but the damage had already been done.
The same hyena also attacked four other people.

FULL TEXT: Kenyan ‘Prophecy’ Explanation on Zimbabwe’s Future Interview

Below is the full text of interview of Kenyan Prophet-Maxillar Mumo with ZimEye following a second prophecy concerning elections in Zimbabwe and what the prophet says will be MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai’s sudden ascendancy to become President of Zimbabwe.
ZimEye put the prophet to task to clarify and explain further his utterances for easy understanding for the readers at large to which the prophet agreed.

INTERVIEW:
Prophet-Maxillar Mumo
I have been waiting for you. Send your questions right here! They should only be 5 questions. I only have time for 5 questions.
Question:

Fake? Prophet Maximiler
Fake? Prophet Maximiler

1. Man of God, some Zimbabweans have criticised you and dismissed your prophecies. Could you cite two or three other prophecies you have made in the past which have come to pass? Thank you
Question:
Please feel free if you are not comfortable on this one.
Prophet-Maxillar Mumo
QUESTION 1 ANSWER: The blog that every prophesy I make is posted can answer your question on what prophesies have come to pass. They are many I have lost count. Infact what I know is God can make a news bulletin better than most media houses when it comes to speaking concerning the future. I have seen God show me of what shall be in the news the next day internationally, posted it and seen it together with anyone who cared out there as they came to pass.
http://www.prophetmaxillarmumo.blogspot.com/.
When God speaks just like in the bible in the old times, you will have people ignoring what God is saying or dismissing it. But what they forget is to look up and see God while focussing on the man; me and putting me on the cross only for what is imminent!
I do not carry my own voice, and since I began prophesying, I have spoken only of what God sends me to. He worries about the coming to pass of such prophesies. He worries of what to do with such people as those who nullity, mock and disregard His voice.
You see prophesy is only a Word first when it is send out. It’s power when it comes to pass holding those who accepted it safe and holding those who disregarded it to destruction.
While many think prophesy is so you can become famous, count or have a record of what comes to pass and not and brag with it; GOD CONSIDERS ME CALLED ONLY TO SPEAK HIS VOICE. THE REST I LIVE TO THOSE WHO HAVE GOT NOTHING TO DO. ALL MY TIME IS SPEND IN PRAYER.

Question:
Thank you sir. 2. In the first part of your prophecy for Zimbabwe and reference is made to the one released on or around the end of July 2013, you stated that Morgan Tsvangirai is anointed to lead Zimbabwe. Do you have projected date when this should happen?
Prophet-Maxillar Mumo
ANSWER TO QUESTION 2: God calls and anoints leaders. Only Him knows the reason why He chooses a certain leader and dismisses another. I have seen God appoint leaders many a times before and they all end up ruling.
Now there are many things that come to play when God appoints a leader. First of all the nation must accept the leader appointed for them. Of course if they refuse such a leader, trouble befalls them. And it’s always trouble that is designed to pave way for the leader appointed of God to rule.
Secondly, when the accepts such a leader, then when the time comes or according to their procedures they must appoint such a leader to office. In the event they refuse to do so. God will still work and bring the ordained leader into power.
When I spoke of Tsvangrai, I said God is concerned whether the people of Zimbabwe will work to put the leader into power when the time comes and it is written in record that I did say that. Now I said this because what God was showing is that in the time He gave which was a 5 and 5 events, there was a threat to this leader’s life which still stands and so many people want to see him gone. But the biggest problem I have seen that brought the second prophesy was the people around him.
They were all plotting to put him in power through another kind of act and not that of God. And that set God releasing a warning of these people around him that were plotting of such a move that if they did it, then it will be the end of him ever finding the leadership of the country.
I WANT PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND, IT WAS NOT TSVANGRAI PERFORMING THIS ACT BUT I SAW PEOPLE PERFORMING IT FOR HIM SO THAT HE ASCENDS TO POWER. BUT GOD SAID, IF THEY DID IT, THEN IT WAS THE END OF HIS ASCENSION TO LEADERSHIP OF YOUR COUNTRY.
Question:
Thank you sir. 3. Will the Tsvangirai power takeover be peaceful, and will there be peace after that?

Prophet-Maxillar Mumo
CONTINUED ANSWER TO QSN 2: There are things I am allowed to speak of and others I am allowed to hold to myself. In terms of the exact time; I CANNOT OPEN MY MOUTH BEYOND THE 5 but be sure it is nothing as people are trying to DECODE it! THE SECRET IS WHAT IS THE WEAPON OF BRINGING THIS PROPHESY TO COME TO PASS! THE DEVIL CANNOT KNOW WHAT THE TIME MEANS, NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE TIME MEANS EXCEPT GOD! THAT IS HIS WEAPON!
BUT WHAT I WILL TELL YOU IS WHEN IT HAPPENS, IT WILL BE PLAIN TO YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE WHAT THE 5 MEANT!!!
Question:
Thank you sir. 3. Will the Tsvangirai power takeover be peaceful, and will there be peace after that?
Prophet-Maxillar Mumo
ANSWER TO QSN 3: If these people accept to listen to God and do not perform this SACRIFICE so that their leader can take power through evil ways because God has chosen him for Zimbabwe already, then you will see with your eyes Tsvangrai take power and rule Zimbabwe and because He is chosen of God the rulership shall be peaceful!
If they go on and do the sacrifice, it is over for them and their leader. They will never lead Zimbabwe BECAUSE WHAT GOD TOLD ME IS HOW CAN PEOLE DISPISE HIS WORD AND CHOICE FOR THEM AND DECIDE TO PERFORM ON BEHALF OF THE ONE I HAVE CHOSEN SUCH A THING. GOD IS ENEMY OF IDOLS AND IDOL WORSHIP! SO these people should let God take care of how Tsvangrai comes to power.
I WANT TO ADD HERE TODAY EXCLUSIVELY TO YOU EVEN BEFORE IT IS POSTED ON MY BLOG: That if these people perform the sacrifice; GOD TOLD ME; HE SHALL RAISE A LEADER FROM ZIMBABWE FROM THE CHURCH. HE WAS ONCE A PAGAN BUT SHALL BE SEEN AS TO COME FROM THE CHURCH WHEN HE RISES AND SHALL BE A GREAT HELP TO THE CHURCH!
Question:
Thank you Sir for clarifying who the persons are who you refer to as plotting to do child sacrifice.
5. Do you have any other prophecies on Zimbabwe which have not been made known to date?
Prophet-Maxillar Mumo
Only what is on my blog. That is all. I have ministered to many people from Zimbabwe and God has performed for them greatly and mightly from miracle children, lost people being found, healings, winning business deals, finding spouses, receiving financial breakthrough to anything you can think of.
What God has done for me is RAISE me differently in these last days to decry the church which instead of being His voice to nations has become mediocrity because it is considered a place of the lost.
WHAT GOD IS DOING IN YOUR NATIONS AND MANY OTHER NATIONS is to RESTORE HIS CHURCH, HIS VOICE and to make people TURN TO HIM!!!
I DO NOT SEEK FAME, I DO NOT SEEK ATTENTION!!! GOD SEEKS TO RESTORE HIS CHURCH!!!
I have done my best to bring you message of God as He gives it to me!
I have spoken with you in utter justice of God’s Word and I hope everything God has told you elevates your thinking and does not make you blind to your own destiny!
I do not carry my voice that is why I am able to speak and nations can listen. It is because I carry God’s voice. I am not interested in the when they happen all I know is everything I have spoken in the past has come to pass and I cannot take credit of any! Only God can! I am not worried if what I say comes to pass or not; because I know God worries about that.
In whatever happens, I represent my God with utmost and ultimate OBEDIENCE! I cannot think less of Him any day of my life! I WILL STAND WITH HIS WORD FOREVER!
Thank you and regards!
Question:

EXCLUSIVE:Kenyan Prophet Mumo Reveals More On ‘President’ Tsvangirai Govt Takeover

The Kenyan Prophet Maxillar Mumo whose utterances have in recent weeks sparked intense controversy in the Zimbabwean community has spoken following his prediction in which he says that some Zimbabweans(not Tsvangirai) were thinking of attempting a child sacrifice in order to create the presidency for Morgan Tsvangirai.
Prophet Mumo insisted to ZimEye in an exclusive interview on Wednesday night, that Morgan Tsvangirai is God’s anointed President of Zimbabwe who will be installed soon after Robert Mugabe has died a natural death. Tsvangirai’s ascension to the State House will be effortless for him, hinted Mumo.
On the mystical matter of the so called “child sacrifice”, Mumo said in part:
“They were all plotting to put him in power through another kind of act and not that of God. And that set God releasing a warning of these people around him that were plotting of such a move that if they did it, then it will be the end of him ever finding the leadership of the country.”
When however pressed on the authenticity of his prophecies and why people should rely on them Mumo replied: “I have spoken with you in utter justice of God’s Word and I hope everything God has told you elevates your thinking and does not make you blind to your own destiny.
“I do not carry my voice that is why I am able to speak and nations can listen. It is because I carry God’s voice. I am not interested in the when they happen all I know is everything I have spoken in the past has come to pass and I cannot take credit of any! Only God can! I am not worried if what I say comes to pass or not; because I know God worries about that.
“In whatever happens, I represent my God with utmost and ultimate obedience. I cannot think less of Him any day of my life. I will stand with his word forever.”

Medical Student Isabel Mkhosi Dies

An MDC-T cadre, and medical student in South Africa, Isabel Mkhosi has died.
The MDC-T announced on Wednesday morning its shock at the death of Isabel whose untimely departure comes barely two weeks after she complained of chest pains.

Isabel Mkhosi dies
Gone too soon … Isabel Mkhosi

An announcement by the party’s Youth Assembly spokesperson, Tapiwa Shumba, reads:
“We have learnt with great shock, disbelief and sadness the death of Isabel Mkhosi Moyo. She died this morning in Harare. Isabel Mkhosi was the Secretary of the MDC South Africa Provincial Youth Executive. She was also studying towards a medical degree at Witwatersrand University.
“She complained of chest pains during her trip to Zimbabwe and was subsequently admitted at Parirenyatwa hospital in Harare about two weeks ago. Although she kept on asking for prayers and indicating that she was in the Intensive Care Unit; it remained unthinkable that she would succumb to that illness.
“We have known her as the Iron Lady, soft but politically acute. It is sad that she has gone without realising her dream for a free Zimbabwe.
“This is a great loss for all of us. It is a loss for the young people that have fought side by side with Leader Isabel. She was a brave and determined young lady.
“We say Rest in Peace our dear Leader. You fought and you played a very big part. You will forever remain in our hearts. Our memories of you will continue to give us strength towards our quest for freedom and a just, fair and free society for all.
“Further details and funeral arrangements will be made available in due course.”

2.2 Million Zimbabweans Face Massive Food Shortages – UN

Zimbabwe:2.2 Million Zimbabweans Face Massive Food Shortages, United Nations Says
The United Nations’ WPFP program estimates that 2.2 million Zimbabweans will go hungry within the next 4 months.
The body says one in four of the rural population- expected to need food assistance during the pre-harvest period early next year.
This is the highest since early 2009 when more than half the population required food support, the report says.

The extent of predicted hunger is revealed in the recently-published Zimbabwe Vulnerability Assessment Committee (ZimVAC) rural livelihoods report which estimates food security levels and identifies affected areas. The study is led by the Government with support from the UN and other partners.
“Many districts, particularly in the south, harvested very little and people are already trying to stretch out their dwindling food stocks,” says UN World Food Programme (WFP) Country Director Sory Ouane. “WFP is working closely with the Government and partners to respond to the looming food crisis and will start food and cash distributions to the most vulnerable in October.”
The report says that to meet the increased needs, WFP and its partners will provide regionally-procured cereals as well as imported vegetable oil and pulses. Cash transfers will be used in selected areas to afford people flexibility and help support local markets.Distributions will be gradually scaled up from October until harvest time in March next year.
The current high levels of food insecurity are being attributed to various factors including adverse weather conditions, the unavailability and high cost of agricultural inputs such as seeds and fertilisers and projected high cereal prices due to the poor maize harvest. WFP monitoring in rural markets has found grain prices 15 percent higher than this time last year.
In 2012, for the first time, the Government of Zimbabwe contributed some US$10 million worth of grain from domestic stocks towards a joint relief operation with WFP and partners. This programme provided food assistance to some 1.4 million people in 37 rural districts. Read the full report here:

Chinhoyi University Investigates ‘Sex Scandal’ Lecturer – Turnmore Machipisa

The Chinhoyi University of Science & Technology has begun investigations on a lecturer by name Mr Turmore Machipisa following a Baba Jukwa ‘tip off’ on Monday.
Allegations against Mr Machipisa who is married are that he has been obtaining sexual gratification from female students in exchange for a leaking of exam papers. ZimEye has verified that Mr Machipisa who has since switched off his phones is indeed a lecturer at the Chinhoyi University of Technology’s Business Faculty.
He is alleged to have leaked more than two exam papers and at least two students were named as victims. Some ‘concerned’ members of the university then forwarded the complaint through social networking guru, Baba Jukwa.

President Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF party has declared the former National Railways General Manager, Retired Commodore Mike Karakadzai, together with ZANU PF Co-Founder Enos Nkala, National Heroes.

National hero…Mike Karakadzai

This followed an earlier expose’ by ZimEye that ZANU PF concluded national hero status for the controversial Karakadzai on the same day following a horrific car accident in Matebeleland.
Enos Nkala died the following day of a long illness believed to be of old age. He had been hospitalised at Avenues Clinic for several days until his death.
Meanwhile Air Cdre Karakadzai (Rtd)’s, who was the National Railways of Zimbabwe general manager’s body was on Friday flown from Bulawayo to Harare’s Manyame Air Base for a military parade.
It is believed that the two are to be buried at the same time in the coming few days. At the time of writing it was not clear when exactly this would be.

Zimbabwe:Enos Nkala, ZANU PF Founder Dies

One of the key founding fathers of Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF party, Enos Nkala has died.
His death announced on Wednesday morning comes after he was admitted into the Avenues Clinic two weeks before on the 7th August.

On Tuesday the family spokesperson who is Nkala’s nephew, Herbert Nkala, appealed for prayers as his condition deteriorated.
“This is a very distressing period for the entire family. We are, however, grateful for the amazing work doctors and nurses are doing here. At this juncture we are appealing to all Zimbabweans to pray for him,” he said.
Nkala served as the Minister of Finance after independence in 1980 and passed the baton to Bernard Chidzero in 1983. He then became the Minister of National Supplies until 1985, and subsequently Home Affairs and Defence after the 1985 election.
Apart from his work as founding member of ZANU PF in 1963, Nkala was a close confidante of Robert Mugabe who according to former Chronicle and Daily News Editor Geoff Nyarota, was involved in the notorious Gukurahundi massacre of Ndebele people in the eighties. He denies this.
In the years running up to today, Nkala was the major subject of news stories as journalists regularly quoted him regarding his private conversations with Robert Mugabe which included one in which Mugabe allegedly said he wished to quit serving as president.
Nkala’s full age was not known at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Top Historian Diana Mitchell Dismisses Baba Jukwa Uprising

A senior Zimbabwean historian, Diana Mitchell who alone foretold the downfall of the former Ian Smith Rhodesian government way back in 1977 has spoken against thoughts in the wait for an uprising that is being engineered on social networking website Facebook by the faceless MDC character and Zanu PF de-filer, Baba Jukwa.

Opposed by Historian...Baba Jukwa
Dismissed by Historian…Baba Jukwa

Mitchell signalled that an Egyptian style revolution is not possible in Zimbabwe where she has had a wealth of experience analysing complex political forces for the past 40 years.
The statement comes after the faceless character began coordinating a campaign known as Vapanduki (insurgents) on the website. The campaign is a grouping of people who are all opposed to Robert Mugabe and his ZANU PF party.
Mitchell is credited for her outstanding work in canonising Zimbabwe’s liberation war heroes at a time when they were internationally regarded as terrorists in the 70s.
Below was her full argument:
Any Zimbabwean, at home and abroad could or should have predicted with absolute certainty that Robert Mugabe and his acolytes would never allow power to slip from their hands. One wonders if the masses of red-clad MDC supporters seen at rallies in the major cities truly believed that their visible numbers and their wishful thinking could somehow vanquish the old dictator. They have learned, once more, as we former `white liberals’ learned in our past, anti-Rhodesian Front struggles, that a `level playing field’ is the first requisite for electoral success in a developing country.
Ian Smith taught Robert Mugabe that control of all the institutions of government – which included the incorporation of the national media – was all that was needed to ensure perpetual rule for the incumbent government. It was the horrific deaths among a relatively few civilians and a miniscule, white-led military, along with a lot of external support for African nationalist freedom fighters, which succeeded in overturning 88 years of white minority rule.
Without weapons or powerful external support, how could free Zimbabweans in the MDC or its leadership have forgotten those lessons of the recent past? So recent are those lessons for now, Zimbabweans will cling to peace as a preferred option. The flames of the Arab Spring’s violent revolutions are not an attractive model for change right now.

Disgusting Invasion of Old Granny’s Home by ZANU PF Youth

In a shocking case of extreme election violence, President Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF party has come under the spotlight after a party youth freely invaded the home of a frail 87 year old granny’s home, the eldery lady who is being accused of supporting the MDC led by Welshman Ncube.
Mbuya Jestina Guwaya born in July 1924, was singled out by ZANU PF youths after she refused to be associated with pre-election cells in which the party would identify who supports it or not.

Mbuya Jestina removed out of her own house

She aqcuired her house in 80s together with her late husband who died in the 90s and the couple had only one child, Vengai Mangwiro.
Her house which is in in Joburg Lines, Mbare, was however in June invaded by a certain Andrew who is not even related to her in any way but began claiming to be related to her late husband.  He reportedy received help from one Modern Chirwa (chairman of Joshua Nkomo District Zanu PF) & Florence Mutokota (mai Rodrick).
When the matter was reported to the local police, they kept promising to visit the property but have never done so ever since and neither opened the case into files as is officially required. They further stated that this is a political matter which is difficult for anyone to handle. Even after it was again escalated to Matapi Police Station, the police said they were coming last Friday around 8am, but they did not come, as has been revealed by one of the parliamentary candidates for Mbare, Jabulani Charlie who was standing for the MDC led by Welshman Ncube.
Several ZANU PF bigwigs have since been contacted who include the new MP for Mbare, Tendai Savanhu who has given neither comment nor sign of action on the matter.
“ZANU PF does not tolerate victimisation of anyone on the grounds of political positions. If this is true, it can ony be an overzealous person,” said ZANU PF’s UK party chairman, Mangwana
Mbuya Jestina has been receiving handouts of food from well wishers in the area coordinated by the MDC’s Jabulani Charlie.
A comment from South African President Jacob Zuma who recently claimed the just ended elections were free of intimidation and violence was awaited at the time of writing.

Shock as Numerous Dead People’s IDs “Used to Vote” Are Discovered in Chegutu

There was shock in the satelite town of Chegutu on Tuesday morning when residents discovered numerous identity cards many belonging to deceased people and some to those who migrated into the diaspora.
“Every second I am getting calls of people discovering abandoned IDs that were used to rig this election in Chegutu 85% of the IDs in this picture are dead people and a good number in the diaspora. What a Shame to Zuma for endorsing this Fraud,” said MDC-T election candidate for the area, Charlton Hwende.

Shock as Even Solomon Madzore’s Family Voted for Robert Mugabe

part1, part 1There was shock last week when it emerged some members of the persecuted MDC-T Youth Leader Solomon Madzore who has been in prison for over a year, actually voted for ZANU PF supremo Robert Mugabe.
ZimEye in this series of articles will reveal as has been told that even Madzore’s own 19 year old niece who admires her uncle Solomon, yet ignored MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai, and placed her precious X aside Robert Mugabe’s name on the ballot paper last week Wednesday.
What is it that would make a family that has been negatively affected by Robert Mugabe’s security so badly actually choose to vote for the same man who has imprisoned their loved one every year since 2001?, our reporter asked Madzore’s sister, Ellet.

“It is all because of Tsvangirai’s shameful affairs and abuse of women that he has lost much steam with voters,” she told ZimEye.
She added
“Just ask anyone. Do your own survey among especially women across the country. You will see that Mugabe gained popularity over the recent 4 years all because of Tsvangirai’s careless blunders. Do you not recall how he treated Locardia (Tembo)? and how he would jump from one woman to the next after impregnating another?
“Check for instance in Dzivarasekwa. How is that ZANU PF which in 2008 barely had any votes and this year yet was able to encroach Solo by just over 1000 voters?,” she said of the results in which Solomon Madzore beat ZANU PF’s 6591 to 5402 votes.
Ellet however stated that she hopes Mr Mugabe will remove charges against her brother in which the government has been claiming that more than twenty MDC-T members murdered a police officer in Glen View two years ago.

Tsvangirai has issued a statement that he is going to pursue legal channels to challenge the election results. But analysts have said that poll irregularities alone do not explain MDC-T’s defeat. Said senior journalist, Chofamba Sithole on Sunday soon after a BBC News interview: “I’ve reiterated the point that the irregularities alone do not explain MDC’s defeat, that Mugabe may have won anyway because his party played the long game, put in more work after the 2008 elections while the MDC expected goodwill and public clamour for change to carry them past personal scandal for their leader and a lacklustre performance in the inclusive government.” Mr Sithole explained that several surveys were conducted months before elections revealing how ZANU PF gained against Tsvangirai’s MDC party caused by Mr Tsvangirai’s conduct.
Meanwhile other problems with Mr Tsvangirai’s conduct have been to do with his alleged dictatorship style and he was last week warned by his juniors not to impose candidates in Manicaland, and after deciding to do the contrary and imposing people like Giles Mutsekwa and MKD founder Simba Makoni, his MDC-T partywas immediately handed a humiliating defeat last Wednesday.

Tsvangirai 1 172 349 (33.94%)

Following the announcement, Morgan Tsvangirai issued a statement that he is to sue the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission on the grounds that the election had gross irregularities.

New Zimbabwe Govt Should Guarantee Democracy: US

New Zimbabwe Leader Should Create Democracy, Says US Govt
The new Zimbabwean government’s leader and his government should facilitate democracy and civilian freedoms, the United States government has said.
In a statement the United States said onerous task of charting a way forward that will give the people of Zimbabwe the opportunity to express their most fundamental democratic right in a free and fair environment, a government statement read as it also revealed concerns on the legitimacy of the poll.

The statement read issued by the Secretary of State, John Kerry read in full:
Zimbabweans voted in their country’s first national elections this week since the violent and disputed polls in 2008. These elections were an opportunity for Zimbabwe to move forward on a democratic path and provide a foundation for growth and prosperity.
The people of Zimbabwe should be commended for rejecting violence and showing their commitment to the democratic process. But make no mistake: in light of substantial electoral irregularities reported by domestic and regional observers, the United States does not believe that the results announced today represent a credible expression of the will of the Zimbabwean people.
Though the United States was restricted from monitoring these elections, the balance of evidence indicates that today’s announcement was the culmination of a deeply flawed process. There were irregularities in the provision and composition of the voters roll. The parties had unequal access to state media. The security sector did not safeguard the electoral process on an even-handed basis. And the government failed to implement the political reforms mandated by Zimbabwe’s new constitution, the Global Political Agreement, and the region.
We urge the Southern African Development Community and the African Union to address their concerns with the electoral process, as well as those raised by domestic monitoring groups. The Government of Zimbabwe needs to chart a way forward that will give the people of Zimbabwe the opportunity to express their most fundamental democratic right in a free and fair environment. We further call on all parties to refrain from violence during this period.
The United States shares the same fundamental interests as the Zimbabwean people: a peaceful, democratic, prosperous Zimbabwe that reflects the will of its people and provides opportunities for them to flourish. For that to happen, the Government of Zimbabwe should heed the voices of its citizens and implement the democratic reforms mandated by the country’s new constitution.
Only then will Zimbabwe truly embark on a path towards democracy that reflects the aspirations of its people.

Zimbabwe: Shocking Vote Rigging Video Haunts Zanu PF Before SADC

Bus from Honde Valley docked at Mt Pleasant on Wwdnesday morning

Zimbabwe: Exclusive Video Showing Zim Vote-Rigging Shames ZANU PF
A video of alleged vote rigging in Harare’s Mt Pleasant area shot on Wednesday morning has continued to haunt ZANU PF despite their celebrated win of the just ended elections. The video which shows the outgoing Finance Minister Tendai Biti exposing youths bussed in from distant areas in Manicaland provinces as evidenced by the bus screamer-tags.
In the video, MDC-T Secretary-General Tendai Biti boldly confronts ZEC officials for address verification details of hundreds of ZANU PF youths bussed from Manicaland’s Honde Valley using Zupco buses to a Mt Pleasant polling station, and the ZEC official fails to answer while agreeing that the youths are clearly not on the voters’ roll. Biti then telephones a colleague to launch an urgent chamber application to declare a cancellation of the special vote process.
In detail, the four-minute clip shows the young people disembarking one of the buses and hiding their faces upon seeing cameras as the join voters in a queue where they are given priority access.
Biti then questions the bus driver who claims he brought the bus from the nearby Belvedere surbub.
But when asked where he picked up the youths, the driver then lifts a finger asking Biti if he is threatening him.
The driver tells Biti he doesn’t trust his question when asked where these people are from.
In anger Biti then makes the phone call.
“We need to file a court application so that their ballots are disqualified. It’s unbelievable… some of them are dispersing now,” he says.
Commenting on the developments, Mavambo Kusile Dawn leader in the UK, Lloyd Nembaware said ZEC clearly has damaged its reputation.
Said Nembaware:
“Obviously the MDC will lay very heavily on that. Don’t forget that Zuma was saying he needs evidence from Tsvangirai  to say the election was rigged so clearly that they can use as evidence. Whether Zuma can go by that I am not sure but that’s a clear piece of evidence they probably could use.”
“But they might have to substantiate that, don’t forget that the presiding officer there was refusing as well saying these guys have official slips.
Nembaware said the ZEC has damaged its image for credibility.
“Unfortunately for ZEC, it has had its reputation tarnished because of a number of irregularities. We saw the fiasco that occurred during the special vote and also questions are abound about the voters roll,” he said.
He added:
“It should have been in ZEC’s interest to make sure the result is not disputed. To not publish the list of polling locations a few days before the elections is atrocious. There clearly is prejudice about this. Zanu PF need not worry too much as the dysfunctional opposition has cleared the way for it by squabbling about posts. We need serious leaders in Africa not those driven by greed, materialism and petty positions.”
Meanwhile the ZEC as expected to finalise its final result announcement on Friday afternoon and it was projected that Mugabe would win by a landslide.

Jacob Zuma Refuses To Speak on Zimbabwe’s Elections Despite ZESN Report

South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma has refused to speak on Zimbabwe’s contentious elections despite the country’s evident failure to uphold its own Electoral laws amid widespread allegations of vote tampering reported by the Zimbabwe Election Support Network(ZESN).
While some reports stated South Africa’s President actually said the MDC parties must prove their claims of vote rigging, Zuma’s spokesman Mac Maharaj, told ZimEye in an interview Thursday night, Pretoria will comment only after receiving the SADC team’s full assessment report on the elections.

MDC should provide the proof...Zuma
MDC should provide the proof…Zuma

“You are aware that there is an official SADC observer mission. We are part of the SADC community; we have a component in the SADC and we are part of the SADC observer mission. We need to get a proper report from them before we make any announcements. It would be premature for us to make any pronouncements at this stage. So we are noting developments and we will wait for the SADC report. ”
Zuma’s response came just after Zimbabwe concluded its national elections which have been disputed after the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission withheld the voters’ roll only releasing a paper copy at the last minute amid various reports of youths being bussed to polling centres. Other problems note were on alleged duplications in the voters’ roll.

Despite Fake Voters Roll, I Will Be President: Tsvangirai

Despite a dodgy and disputed voters roll being used in the elections, outgoing Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has said that he is confident of a resounding poll victory which will set him as Zimbabwe’s incoming President.
Casting his own ballot paper at Mt Pleasant flanked by his wife, Tsvangirai indicated this was a historic moment for whole of Zimbabwe. When asked on his projections, he said his victory would be “quite resoundingly.”

Frustrated voters waiting in queue in Budiriro Wednesday morning
Frustrated voters waiting in queue in Budiriro Wednesday morning

His comments however came at the same time as many across the country were denied the right to vote despite having been registered, and also the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission(ZEC) came under fire from analysts on Tuesday night when the organisation refused to release the voters roll in electronic format only releasing it on hard-paper and also at the last minute.
Tempers flared up when Zimbabweans found out that ZEC misled people on Saturday after claiming that the voters roll had been released to provinces at the weekend which has now turned out to be untrue. A paper copy was later released to various parties and circulated late on Tuesday night. ZimEye has revealed that there are numerous systematic duplications in the voters roll despite vigorous revision work having been performed earlier.

Other critical concerns raised by voters on Wednesday morning were that many people were failing to vote. At around 10am, a group of 23 people was denied the chance to vote in the very same Mount Pleasant area where Tsvangirai was physically casting his vote. They were told that their names did not appear on the voters’ roll even though they had registration slips.
In other parts of the country, widespread reports of people with IDs and voting slips being turned away were made. These included for instance at Bulawayo polling stations where people were told to rather go to what was termed “command centers”. It was not clear what these command centres are, and a comment from ZEC was awaited at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Shock as Massive Duplications Are Found In Voters’ Roll

As Zimbabwe awaited the disputed Voters Roll on Monday night, ZimEye revealed in this article that the long document already contains a string of duplicated names varied only by a sophisticated alteration of names, ID and other descriptive details.
The massive duplicated entries are found in areas that are clearly ZANU PF strongholds which are largely in Mashonaland rural areas.
In this article ZimEye reveals how a carefully constructed programming SQL script was run on the voters roll to make a linear duplication and subtle alteration of digit and name details on the voters roll which favours only one political party.
Many of the duplicated entries are in places such as Mt Darwin, Sanyati, Kwekwe, Mutare, and Rushinga which are ZANU PF strongholds.

Sample Analysis of the live Voters Roll

“We have uncovered massive fraud that gives people the right to cast multiple votes sometimes three, four, to six times through a sophisticated plethora of duplicated ID and address details per person cast over thousands of individuals in a clearly systematic way,” Mguni told ZimEye on Monday morning.
However a further analysis by ZimEye has revealed the computed figures of distortions actually rise to 2.3million duplicate voters which is close to half of the entire voters’ roll.
ZimEye attached a short analysis sample compiled by ZAPU. What varies at other sections in the tables are single digits or letters for the ID number, and at others, just a single alpha-letter difference for a physical address with everything remaining exactly the same with the name and date of birth remaining intact.
When confronted on Friday, ZEC’s Deputy Chairperson Mrs Joyce Kazembe said the commission was investigating the allegations.
“We are trying to establish these concerns and we are already looking into it. Zec has already met with the African Union on our preparedness,” she said.
Kazembe said it would be premature to make a statement on whether a new voter registration exercise would be conducted when just a few days remained to elections without verifying the allegations.

“As I have said, these are not facts but allegations,” she said.
ZAPU’s President Dumiso Dabengwa, has since issued the below statement following the find:
After successfully challenging the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission with court action into publishing,
and making available to the general public the Voter’s Roll, ZAPU got the ZEC to allow us to purchase the said Voter’s Roll as at May 2013.
We then set-out to analyse the said Voter’s Roll.
Here is our abridged and rather incomplete analysis of the Roll: (refer to the attached)
The first comment I have to make is that the previous list contained 317 000 odd entries. The current list  we interrogated now has 40 000.
To us as ZAPU, the two lists raise a lot of suspicion and call for an investigation.
The fundamental point is that without a completely new voter’s registration and a completely new voter’s roll, it is pointless having elections in our country.
If ZAPU had the resources, it would certainly take these matters to the Constitutional Court to draw attention to what we have long been saying, that there is a serious flaw in the voter’s roll and the    result of these elections can never be considered as free and fair.
We wonder why other Parties involved in these elections do not take this issue as serious.
Our ZAPU Vice President presented this concern to the OAU Chairperson earlier today.

Zimbabwe:Final Voters Roll Released In Shreds, But Harare Still Outstanding

National_in-the-news-NATIONAL-Local_stripConCourt gives Zimbabwe voters reprieve. After several weeks of waiting, Zimbabwe’s final voters roll has been released to provinces, albeit in pieces.
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission announced on Saturday afternoon that the final voters roll is now on its way to Zimbabwe’s various provinces. This came amid concerns that the ZEC has breached the Electoral Act by not availing the voters’ roll for inspection in good time.
While all other non-ZANU PF parties were clueless on the development, a ZEC official approached by ZimEye confirmed the voters roll had been sent to the provinces but Harare was still outstanding by 5PM Saturday. “It has been sent out to the provinces,” he said.
Harare is however the area with the largest population figures according to informal reports.
The MDC led by Welshman Ncube’s Deputy Spokesperson, Kurauone Chihwayi said his party is currently monitoring developments.
“I heard on the radio that they have dispatched the voters’ roll to provinces except Harare. The MDC is seriously monitoring ZEC’s activities,” he said.
When asked about why the ZEC has delayed releasing the roll for Harare province, Chihwayi said: “No satisfactory answer is being given, But it is all to do with ZEC’s lack of capacity to run credible elections. Zimbabwe is heading towards seriously disputed elections, the MDC will name and shame those involved in the dirty rigging exercise if there is any. Our eyes and ears are very wide open.”

ZEC Has Breached The Electoral Act
According to analysts, ZEC Has Breached Section 21 of the Electoral Act. Argued top lawyer and MDC Legal Affairs Secretary, David Coltart on Wednesday:
“Section 21(4) of the Electoral Act states “within a reasonable period of time after the calling of an election, the Commission shall provide, on payment of the prescribed fee, to every political party that intends to contest the election, and to any observer who requests it, one copy of every voters roll to be used in the election, either in printed or in electronic form as the party or observer may request.”
The MDC has repeatedly asked the ZEC to provide us with a voters roll. Last Friday we wrote to the ZEC asking for a copy of the roll. Today we were advised that we may get a copy of the roll tomorrow but we are concerned that this will not happen.
A “reasonable period of time after the calling of an election” means just that. The election was called on the 13th June and 6 weeks have since elapsed – and yet we still do not have a copy of the voters roll. 6 weeks to supply a voters roll is not a reasonable period of time. Worse than that is the 5 days left before the election is conducted – that is a grossly unreasonable period of time left to study and use the voters roll.
“Voters rolls are meant to be used by political parties the world over to analyse who is in particular constituencies so that they can be spoken to and encouraged to vote. That opportunity is now denied us. Furthermore in the Zimbabwean context where rigging has abounded in the past it is critically important that parties be given sufficient time to analyse and audit the voters roll. That right has now been denied us.
“No satisfactory explanation has been given by the ZEC for their failure to comply with the law and to that extent its credibility as an organisation has been severely tarnished by this very serious breach of the law.
“We can but hope that the voters roll in analysable digital electronic format will be supplied as promised tomorrow.”

EXCLUSIVE: Shock As Tsvangirai’s Driver Is Listed In ZANU PF Top Hierarchy

A driver who was officially assigned to drive Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai from 2005 is in ZANU PF’s top hierarchy, ZimEye can reveal.
This publication can reveal that Mr Liberty Mupakati based in Leeds, a former top executive in the MDC-T structures in the UK, is actually among top echelons of ZANU PF’s UK structure, a development which has shocked many MDC-T leaders.
ZimEye can reveal that Mr Mupakati is part of ZANU PF’s leadership which is currently seeking audience with the  British government for official recognition in what is a revival of ZANU PF’s 1980 relationship with the Conservative party. As at Wednesday,  they were already planning to approach the British Prime Minister David Cameron once they have been given the go ahead from Harare.

Double Agent? Liberty Mupakati
Double Agent? Liberty Mupakati

Mr Mupakati once drove around Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai in 2005 when the MDC-T leader officiated a crucial meeting in Leeds. See CORRECTION: Mr Liberty Mupakati Morgan Tsvangirai’s UK Leeds Driver in 2005
Former chairman “Ephraim Tapa was approached and clearly knew that Mupakati had strong links to ZANU PF and Tapa however did not do anything about it and continued even campaigning together with Mupakati. I think even now the MDC-T remains infiltrated,” a concerned MDC-T leader added.
Meanwhile other people named in ZANU PF’s UK structure included the Glasgow based former top MDC-T activist, Silence Chihuri and the controversial Tichaona Mutyambizi who is reportedly currently facing rape charges back in Zimbabwe but is leading as the Senior Secretary for Commissariat.
The latest meetings and discussions held this month have had Mr Mupakati being elected Vice Secretary for Commissariat, and Chihuri being provisionally assigned for the Vice Provincial Chairperson post.

Already at each others throats.
But before they meet David Cameron, the ZANU PF leaders are already at each others throats. This week Mr Tichaona Mutyambizi was blasted after he fired some of the committee members.
“Let me be very clear with Cde Tich. He has no mandate whatsoever to dismiss me from the Party. When the time comes for me to leave I will do so voluntarily. Zanu PF is not his private property for goodness sake,” said one member who was fired earlier this week.

Silence Chihuri.
Of Chihuri, it has been said the latter has been a member of just about every party. Up to 2005 he was part of MDC-T. When the split occurred, he then joined Welshman Ncube’s faction where he was a treasurer, before soon leaving and becoming an executive of Mavambo Kusile Dawn, afterwhich he then moved to start his own party, The Zimbabwe We Can, which later flopped within less than 8 weeks.

Baba Jukwa Blasted By ZANU PF’s Fidelis Fengu: “Number Plate Isn’t Zimbabwean”

Zimbabwe’s most followed Facebook mole-leaker, Baba Jukwa, has been blasted by ZANU PF’s Fidelis Fengu who the former on Thursday night accused of coordinating the transportation of ballot boxes in unmarked vehicles for the purpose of vote rigging ahead of next week’s general elections.
Fengu fired back dismissing Jukwa saying even the number plate he provided for a vehicle which listed as having six digits, is fake as it does not represent a valid Zimbabwean number plate.
Baba Jukwa yesterday said Fengu is spearheading the transportation of ballot boxes to a Highlands location. “Zimbabwe as I speak right now ballot papers are being transported in six unmarked cars to another secret location in Highlands spear headed by Fidelis Fengu. There was a leak discovered at KG6 that there were ballot papers there so now they are being moved to the location I mentioned in Highlands the house where torture of people occur at the hands of the CIO.”  Baba Jukwa then added that a vehicle having diamonds for a Russian buyer and with number plate ‘ABD 116 429’ was last night at 11PM driven to Harare International airport.fengu
But Mr Fengu on Friday said the number plate Jukwa published is not even of valid Zimbabwean origin since Zimbabwean plates have four digits. “It is amazing that an individual thinks that I can assume the role and responsibility of ZEC. This is the same individual who once said I had rebelled against the party. We are dealing with a delusional and bored individual who is desperately seeking to justify his party’s subsequent defeat in the polls. Looking at the attendance to the rallies anyone opposing Zanu pf would start making excuse for the defeat of their party.
“Last night after the rally in Masvingo I decided to spend the night there , after all I got there a bit late as I had other issues to deal with in Gweru.
“By the way did you notice that the ABD number plate he gave is wrong Zim plates have only 4 letters. Vana veZimbabwe musaitwe kunge mabharanzi,” he said.
Meanwhile hundreds of thousands of Zimbabweans this week began to prepare for national elections due next week Wednesday in which there are five contestants with Robert Mugabe, Welshman Ncube, and Morgan Tsvangirai are leading presidential contestants.

Outrage as ZEC Refuses To Release List of Polling Stations

Zimbabwe:Outrage as ZEC Refuses To Release List of Polling Stations
There was outrage on Thursday afternoon after the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission refused to release the list of polling stations across the country.
According to the ZEC the list should be released on the very day of voting. A statement released on Wednesday stated that the polling stations would be made public next week Wednesday.
But the Zimbabwe Election Support Network, ZESN, the various polling stations must be known to the public and to political parties in good time to enable smooth monitoring.
The ZEC has however released the full count of polling stations as 9670 which will be set up on the 31st July.ballot box, elections, vote, voting, poll
In a statement, the ZESN said it “appeals to ZEC to release the list of polling stations in advance as part of international good practice and, in order to enhance transparency and accountability of the whole electoral process. ZESN feels that the last minute publishing of polling stations would make it problematic for stakeholders to engage with ZEC to address any problems related to the distribution of the final list of polling stations
“ZESN also encourages ZEC to ensure that polling stations are adequate to avoid long queues that may discourage potential voters from voting.
“ZEC should distribute the polling stations based on demand and the potential number of voters in each ward in order to avoid the concerns raised after the March 16 Referendum on the inadequacy of polling stations in highly populated areas,” the statement read.
Meanwhile Mavambo Kusile Dawn leader in the UK, Lloyd Nembaware commented saying the ZEC has tarnished its reputation. He told ZimEye on Thursday,
“Unfortunately for ZEC, it has had its reputation tarnished because of a number of irregularities. We saw the fiasco that occurred during the special vote and also questions are abound about the voters roll.
“I understand the opposition parties still haven’t inspected the final roll less than a week before the elections. It is in ZEC’s interest to make sure the result is not disputed. To not publish the list of polling locations a few days before the elections is atrocious. There clearly will be prejudice about this as it is likely to create chaos come polling day. Zanu PF need not worry too much as the dysfunctional opposition has cleared the way for it by squabbling about posts. We need serious leaders in Africa not those driven by greed, materialism and petty positions.”

AU Boss Jets In To Prepare Zimbabwe’s Regime Change

Zimbabwe:AU Boss Arrives to pave way for Zimbabwe’s Regime Change, Obasanjo Blocked
Africa’s most powerful body, The African Union’s chairperson Mrs Nkosazana-Dlamini Zuma flew into Harare yesterday afternoon to see to preparations for Zimbabwe’s imminent regime change due after next week’s historic elections.
This came at a time when the African Union’s assigned elections monitor, Olusegun Obasanjo was blasted by the Pan African Forum for being (allegedly) already biased towards Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC-T party.
Soon after her arrival Mrs Nkosazana Zuma said it was up to Zimbabwe to accept or reject Obasanjo.

“I think he will come. If he is allowed he will come. They allowed me to come, that is all I’m saying,” she said.
She added that there have been no concerns whatsoever on Zimbabwe’s preparedness to hold credible elections.
“Siyayithola imbiko kulaba akade bafika. Okwamanje kukahle imbiko esiyitholayo ayikasenzi ukuthi sibenovalo kodwa sifuna ukuzobona nje nathi ukuthi kuqhubekani. (Those who came earlier said all was well and as of now everything is proceeding well. Nothing gives us any cause for alarm),” she said.
Dlamini-Zuma added that she is being briefed about the situation in the country by a 10-member observer team that has been in the country since July 15.
“We are here as the African Union observer mission, but, as you know, our team has been here for quite some time . . . they have been sending us reports, so we are fairly informed, but we felt that it was important to come and see for ourselves before the elections.”
But Mrs Zuma expressed interest tomeet political stakeholders to get first-hand information on what was transpiring regarding the electoral process.
Speculation has been rife in recent days that Mrs Zuma’s body might trigger a successful regime change through the work of Obasanjo who it is claimed, is aligned to MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai.

ZEC is Conducting Illegal Operations, says British MP

Zimbabwe:Sadc backed ZEC is a Farce, says UK MP
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission which the regional SADC body backed for conducting a peaceful special vote process, has been condemned by a prominent British legislator, James Duddridge, who labelled it as conducting illegal operations and one that is working to prop back President Robert Mugabe after the upcoming July elections.
The ZEC is in “complete defiance of constitutional law,” writes Duddridge.

james_duddridge
James Duddridge

His comments come after SADC at the weekend issued a statement calling “upon all political parties to co-operate as fully as possible with Zec in order to ensure that it is able to meet these challenges.
“Summit encouraged the government, all political parties and leaders to continue with these commendable efforts which will help realise credible elections.”
But writing on the Conservative party official blog, Duddridge bemoaned Zimbabwe’s preparedness for credible elections:
“Last weekend, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission conducted a special voting process to allow those members of the police forces and security sector who will be deployed elsewhere during the polling to vote. It was claimed by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission that 69,000 police officers have applied for special voting, yet there are only about 40,000 police officers registered in the country. Who are these extra 29,000?
“Despite the recent removal of the names of many deceased individuals on the electoral roll, including that of the former Rhodesian Prime Minister Ian Smith, the list is still estimated to contain the names of at least an extra one million citizens who are now dead. With an extra two million ballot papers reported to have been printed by the ZEC, the expectation is that many of these papers will be stuffed into the ballot boxes using these ghost names.
“The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has behaved in a manner that is unacceptable, illegal and in complete defiance of constitutional law. President Mugabe and his ZANU-PF have once again openly and blatantly distorted Zimbabwean law, ignored binding demands for social and legal reform in the country by the South African Development Community (SADC), thwarted a free and open media, and dashed genuine initiatives to enable a fair-and-free election in Zimbabwe.
“The future of another generation of Zimbabweans looks depressingly bleak unless the international community doe verything in their power to hold President Mugabe and General Chiwenga, the head of the armed forces, accountable for their actions,” he concludes.

Pokello Finally Kicked Out of Big Brother

Zimbabwe: Pokello Booted from Big Brother Africa
The controversial Big Brother contestant and stripper, Pokello Nare has been booted from the Big Brother Africa contest.
Pokello who became the talk of many across the continent after a sex tape leaked, yesterday walked out of the house as a sad countenance began to disfigure her face.
A message on her promotional Facebook page read:
“Thank you ALL for your support.. This is CERTAINLY not the end, ‪#‎teampokello‬ we won’t stop. Pokello went in the house a star and will always be a star. The point was to make Zimbabwe proud.. From all the comments and support it’s clear Zimbabwe and Africa love our girl. We can’t wait to welcome her back on home soil with open arms! God bless you all!”

Report by BBA
There was an akward silence and a few whispers here and there as the Zimbabwean Housemate made her way through the Chasemates.
Pokello followed her favourite Housemate and best friend Bassey who became the 15th Chasemate to be booted out of The Chase.

Leaving behind her beloved Elikem is possibly one of the hardest things she’s had to do throughout her stay in Biggie’s House. But as we all know, the lovers in Biggie’s House are bound to either leave together like LK4 and Koketso or leave one after the other like Bolt and Betty.
Earlier in her Diary session, Pokello said her goodbyes to Biggie, stating how content she was with her stay in his House and even happier about her game.
When Biggie asked her whether she’d miss Elikem, she admitted with no doubt that she would and insisted that this was not the end of his game but hers.
In her interview with IK on the red couch, Pokello said she was really feeling Elikem and was ready to wait for him out of the House.
What will you miss the most about Pokello?

Tsvangirai Fooled By Simba Makoni, Causes ‘Makoni-Central Disgrace’

Zimbabwe:MDC-T Gurus Wrestle Each Other For Makoni Central Seat
Simba Makoni has no more than 20 supporters
Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai was fooled by Mavambo Kusile Dawn leader Simba Makoni and has since caused more chaos in the bitter Makoni Central fracas by imposing Makoni to take over that constituency, MKD insiders have revealed.
More consternation is expected in the MDC-T party this week after Tsvangirai went into a secret pact with Makoni and will be addressing a joint rally in Rusape tomorrow. This is so despite the fact that the constituency was duly won by Patrick Sagandira through a normal voting process which was approved and endorsed by the party last month. Disturbances had already taken place at the time amid allegations that party echelons had rigged the election against the Europe based Grace Kwinjeh in favour of Sagandira who was then imprisoned on spurious charges of committing violence.
Tsvangirai was however fooled by Simba Makoni when the latter spirited an abrupt coalition with Tsvangirai’s party. MKD insiders have recently revealed that when Tsvangirai rushed to the camera to announce a coalition with Makoni, the latter had become unpopular and did not even have 20 supporters. “MKD does not even have a supporter base of 20 people,” a top cadre who requested anonymity told ZimEye last week.
But when contacted yesterday, Simba Makoni told reporters, “Tomorrow (today) Tsvangirai and myself will be addressing a joint rally at Vhengere Stadium in Rusape and if there was no support for my candidature, we would not be addressing the rally together.”tsvangirai-bored--giving-up-gives-up412x232
Sagandira however said, “I was in prison when the three parties formed the coalition for change. When I came out of prison, the MDC-T never communicated to me that I was supposed to withdraw for the MKD candidate Makoni. Therefore, as far as I am concerned I am still the MDC-T candidate and I am campaigning. I also met Tsvangirai at a rally in Mutare and he asked me how my campaign was going, which means I am still the candidate.”
When Sagandira finally came out of prison two weeks ago, he told ZimEye,
“Yes I can confirm that I was in prison for trumped up charges and managed to obtain bail and the people of Makoni Central should not worry themselves since their desired candidate is now free and should go and go and register to vote. Thank you so much for registering your displeasure on the imposition of candidates as has been the game in the last 2 terms.this time around you will not be disappointed since I’m a resident MP. All the best in completing the real change.”
With barely 9 days before elections, more confusion is expected in Manicaland after party spokesman Douglas Mwonzora contrary to the party’s own earlier position, claimed the Dangamvura-Chikanga seat is only reserved for Giles Mutsekwa when previous reports revealed the MDC-T had fielded two candidates, Arnold Tsunga and Mutsekwa.
“There is only one party candidate (Mutsekwa) and this has been made known by party president Tsvangirai. These other candidates are being imposed by Muchauraya and I do not know what their agenda is, but I think they are trying to split the party,” Mwonzora said.

South Africa Govt Reverses ‘Unfortunate’ Comments On Zimbabwe Elections

Zimbabwe: Mugabe Goes After Lindiwe Zulu
South Africa on Sunday reversed comments a facilitator to the GPA, Lindiwe Zulu was said to have made on Friday.
President Jacob Zuma’s spokesman, Mac Maharaj described the comments as ‘unfortunate’.
The Presidency has noted with great concern, recent unfortunate statements made on the situation in Zimbabwe, which have been attributed to a member of the technical team supporting the Facilitator, President Jacob Zuma, the statement read.screamer_lindiwe_zulu
On Friday Lindiwe Zulu was quoted by the APF news agency saying that there were challenges leading up to the July 31 elections in Zimbabwe, following problems with early voting.
She was commenting after thousands of Zimbabwean security forces failed to vote with polling stations opening late, and lacking indelible ink, stamps, voter rolls, ballot papers, and boxes.
“If things didn’t go right in the special vote, those things need to be looked into by the time of elections on July 31,” said Zulu.
But Zuma’s spokesman, Mac Maharaj said only President Jacob Zuma is authorised to make comments on the Zimbabwean situation and no one else.

“The Facilitator, President Jacob Zuma, appointed a three person facilitation team to provide technical support. The team comprises Mr Charles Nqakula, High Commissioner to Mozambique as the Head, Mr Mac Maharaj, Special Envoy and spokesperson to the President and Ms Lindiwe Zulu, International Relations Advisor to the President. The technical team supports the Facilitator and cannot impose its views on Zimbabwe nor make public pronouncements. Only President Zuma has the mandate to speak on Zimbabwe on behalf of SADC on facilitation issues.

“A number of statements have been made during the facilitation process which have been unauthorised and which are regrettable and unfortunate. Some of the utterances have also been inaccurate.
“The Presidency wishes to correct in particular the reports this weekend that President Zuma telephoned President Robert Mugabe to express his unhappiness about preparations for the Zimbabwean elections. No such telephone call has been made. The report is incorrect.
“President Zuma has also been alerted to inappropriate postings in the social media on the Zimbabwean situation.
“South Africa remains fully committed to the warm historical relations with the Republic of Zimbabwe and wishes the people of Zimbabwe well as they prepare for the elections. ”
This development came after President Robert Mugabe vowed to complain to Zuma about Zulu’s conduct.

Zimbabwe:Mugabe Will Be Forgiven After July Elections

Zimbabwe arrests top rights lawyer, MDC-T youth hospitalised after another attack by Zanu PF thugs, Sadc in crisis meeting over Zim election, these were some of the top news headlines on Sunday morning.
ZimEye caught with the MDC-T’s chairman for the United States, Mr. Den Moyo shortly after their protests in Washington in which they have been campaigning against Robert Mugabe at the South African embassy. According to Den Moyo, Robert Mugabe will be forgiven if he repents of his alleged abuses.

Question:
1. We see you have continued your 21st Movement Protest over the year or so. They have been at the South African embassy right? Have you found or noticed any hope, through these so far?

Mr. Den Moyo (extreme right) flanked by other MDC-T members at the Zim embassy yesterday

Den Moyo
We have conducted the Free Zimbabwe Global Campaign for the past 19 months without fail. We’ve been to the SA, Zambian, Mozambican, Chinese, Russian and Zimbabwean Emabassies worldwide. We also demonstrated outside the UN Headquarters in NY. Our efforts have paid great dividends in forcing Mugabe’s hand to allow a new Constitution and for SADC to push for free and fair elections.

Question:
2. An editorial was printed in a South African paper on Saturday arguing that the MDC has blown its chances of warding off Zanu-PF poll rigging. This also follows the failure to obtain a favourable judicial outcome against the Special Vote. Is it right to state that the MDC parties(or just your party)’s failed dismally against ZANU PF?

Den Moyo
Fighting Zanu PF was never going to be easy. There is an entreched preconceived notion among their lot that they own Zimbabwe and it belongs to them and they can do as they please. When we signed the GPA, we placed our trust in the process that SADC prescribed for us. Our efforts in the GNU and achievements thereof speak for themselves. We were able in a short space of time to reverse the gross degradation of human living standards in Zimbabwe. We should never give up now. We can still enforce controls in the election process by having our people present through out the election process to guard and protect the votes. We have to push SADC to facilitate that process.

Question:
3. Your Personal View: In the event that your party takes over power, in your own personal view, should Robert Mugabe and his ZANU PF closets be tried for crimes committed during their office time?
There have been concerns raised by ZANU PF that your numerous campaigns are merely western projects to prepare for revenge on Mugabe. Feel free if you feel unsettled to answer this one.

Den Moyo
We believe in reconcilliation and reconstruction. If Mugabe is willing to come clean and apologize to our people for all the atrocities he and his party have committed against our people and is willing to seek forgiveness from the people, then there would be no need for repatriation. Our goal is to build a New Zimbabwe that respects the sanctity of life. There is no time for seeking revenge.

Question:
4. On another note, turning to contemporary American/Zim affairs:
Has the recent Trayvon Martin matter affected Zimbabweans’ life in the US in any way?
Many thanks for your time.

Den Moyo
Yes the Trayvon Martin case has polarized the nation. Our people have been on the receiving end of unjust judicial comencements. They fully resonate with the notion that there was gross judicial malpractice in Treyvon’s case.   ENDS

Gono’s Farm Goes Up in Mysterious Flames After Baba Jukwa Warning

Zimbabwe: Gono’s Farm Goes Up in Another Fire Attack
The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Gideon Gono’s farm just outside Harare has been blazed by a mysterious fire barely 4 weeks after a warning posted by Facebook ZANU PF top de-filer, Baba Jukwa four weeks ago.
Property and equipment items worth at least USD33,000 were reduced to a crisp in minutes after the unexplainable flames gutted the farm’s key production section including a large patch of grazing land after 3 PM Thursday. This is the second mysterious attack in the last 23 months after the first one gutted property worth more than USD130,000 and Gono’s family had to flee for refuge after it was unexpectedly set alight.
Workers at the farm described the fire as having a yellow to a strong blue coloration at base level alleging that it was clearly not a normal fire. They said they immediately made a report at Borrowdale police station. Said Velenjani Lupankwa, a senior executive with TD Holdings, a subsidiary of Lunar Chickens, “We are still assessing the damage, but our preliminary investigations have shown that property worth more than US$30 000 has been destroyed,”gonoclassique
“Considering the fact that the fire has coincided with the visit by our auditors from Europe we are suspecting foul play because the cause of fire is not known and this is the first time we have fire breaking out.
“(We are aware that) not everyone is happy with what we are doing, but we are still investigating, but our preliminary investigations have shown that there was a hand behind the fire.
“We have lost some of our electronic motors and some of grazing land is gone, but the good thing is fire brigade arrived on time and they have managed to control the fire before much harm was done to these projects.
“We have lost some of our electronic motors and as you can see some of grazing land is gone, but the good thing is fire brigade arrived on time and they have managed to control the fire before much harm was done to these projects.”
Babab Jukwa Warning:
After the death of former Mines Minister Edward Chindori Chininga, last month, ZANU PF de-filer, Baba Jukwa warned Gideon Gono that he could be assassinated anytime soon.“I wonder still as well why Gideon Gono is not heeding my warning. Funeral wake is going to visit his family very soon if he doesn’t take drastic measures to save his precious life.
“They want your head in the platter. Saviour Kasukuwere, Nicholas Goche, Sydney Sekeramayi, Dick Mafios and the evil crew are responsible for Hon Chindori Chininga’s death and are also responsible for an attempt on the life of Mashonaland Central Governor Martin Dinha,” Baba Jukwa alleged.

Malema Refuses To Employ Zuma’s ex-Minister

South Africa: Malema Refuses To Employ Zuma’s ex-Minister Sexwale
Sebokeng – South Africa needs a humble president who lives among the people, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema said on Saturday as he refused to hire axed Jacob Zuma’s former Human Settlements Minister Tokyo Sexwale, who was one of three ministers fired by Zuma in the week.
“We need a president who is very humble,” he told about 100 residents in Sebokeng, south of Johannesburg, at an EFF rally.
South Africans needed someone who understood them, not someone who lived like a king, said Malema.
“You can shoot me if you want [for saying that]… If they want to kill me, they must kill me.”
Malema, clad in a red EFF beret, was accompanied by axed ANC Youth League spokesperson Floyd Shivambu and controversial businessman Kenny Kunene.julius-malema520x
He said the government was corrupted and that ordinary people had the power to influence change.
“Those who want RDP houses must be given RDP houses. Those who want land must be given land,” he said to loud cheers from the crowd.
Malema, who previously held the position of ANC Youth League president, was expelled from the party last year. He launched the EFF “protest movement” on Thursday.
At the launch he said the EFF would have firm anti-corruption policies.
Malema faces a corruption charge relating to activities involving R4m in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court. He is out on bail of R10 000.
On Saturday, he said Sebokeng was under developed compared to other areas in Gauteng
“There’s nothing that looks like gold here in Sebokeng… unlike the Gautrain in Gauteng.”
A confident Malema predicted that his party would become the new ruling party in South Africa.
“This is the beginning. The ruling party has become arrogant,” he said.
“We are going to take this government and once we take it, we are not going to negotiate, we are going to take our land. We are going to take it because its our land.”
He said he would not be intimidated by anyone.
“They will say all sorts of things about us, but they will never shake us,” he said.
“If they want to disrupt our meetings, we are waiting.”
Don’t be intimidated
Malema urged residents not to be scared because the EFF was there to defend them.
“We must never be intimidated. We all have a right to be involved in politics,” he said.
“There is no one who is going to tell us this is a no-go area. We can go anywhere in South Africa. There is no one who is going to take your pension. We are here to defend you.”
Malema said the African National Congress needed Jesus in their lives.
“They [the ANC] were going to rule until Jesus comes back. What kind of statement is that?” he asked.
“They need Jesus. So Jesus has come back, they [ANC] must go out. They are not the Alpha and Omega”.
He said the people of the country were the “Alpha and Omega”.
Malema was referring to a comment made in March 2009 by President Jacob Zuma in Mpumalanga that the party would rule until Jesus returned.
Malema previously said the EFF had a plan which included the non-negotiable principles of land expropriation and nationalisation of mines, both without compensation. It was also strongly opposed to foreign land ownership.
Malema interacted with residents on Saturday by listening to their problems which included issues around education, infrastructure, and corruption.
“You must exercise power. We can take over this government,” Malema told residents. Gauteng EFF convener Pule Matshitshe said the EFF was a tool for people to use.
“South Africa is the richest place with the poorest race. The EFF, this is a tool that will open your voice,” he said.

Controversial Joseph Kanyekanye Forced Out Of Capital Bank, RTG

Zimbabwe: Kanyekanye Kicked Out Of RTG & Capital Bank
The controversial Chairman of both Capital Bank and the Rainbow Tourism Group, Mr Joseph Kanyekanye has been forced out of both entities.
This comes after ZimEye exposed massive looting at the Capital Bank where he was chairman. The bank is no longer capable of delivering and is now out of service. See: Workers Stranded as Indigenous “Capital Bank” Collapses
A resolution by the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) which holds 87% shareholding in Capital Bank and over 50% directly and indirectly in RTG has since been passed to appoint independent chairpersons.screamer_capital_looting
Kanyekanye was in April suspended following a reported uniform scam of $20,000 and also accused of forcing the recruitment of an unqualified employee. He was cleared of all allegations.
He currently sits on close to 9 boards in both private and State enterprises which include NSSA and the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries.
“I am trying to whittle down to five. I am no longer a young Turk as it may,” Kanyekanye said following his announcement to quit.

BREAKING NEWS: Harare Up In Flames

Harare:There was chaos and pandemonium Tuesday afternoon when a fire broke out at Roadport bus station gutting several cars in its way in a way that even the fire brigade could not salvage.
Initial reports coming to ZimEye state that the fire was caused by a burning tyre whose fire soon latched onto a patch of the vehicle which had open petrol liquids. The fire soon spread across the field area causing thick dark fumes to scatter filling up the airspace 160metres above ground.
When the fire service arrived, they did not have any water in their tanks. As the situation worsened, people were seen fleeing in terror at seeing the fast approaching fumes.

Sex Overture “Utter Nonsense” Says Didymus Mutasa as Dorothy Mabika is Cleared of Stocktheft

The woman who ZANU PF party secretary Didymus Mutasa accused of stealing President Robert Mugabe’s cattle, Dorothy Mabika was yesterday cleared of the charges with Mutasa later labelling as ‘nonsense’ all allegations which claimed he had made sexual advances towards her.
Mutasa on Tuesday morning told ZimEye the allegations that he made sexual advances are utter nonsense.
“I don’t want to discuss that at all. Its nonsense mazvinzwa – did you hear me? You know it well yourselves that it is nonsense and I don’t know why you should follow that nonsense,” he said.
The ruling passed yesterday by Mutare magistrate Sekesai Chiundura follows another recent verdict on a similar charge of stocktheft in which she was jointly accused together with provincial chairman Mike Madiro which case the courts ruled should be dealt with rather through the party’s internal procedures and structures.Mutasa
Magistrate Chiundura yesterday said there was no evidence at all linking Mabika to the alleged crimes.
Mabika was facing charges of stealing six bull calves donated to Zanu PF by Chipinge farmer Dawid Herculus Joubert and attempting to tamper with party documents to conceal the crime, a key matter which blew the case into a heated controversy after reports claimed the offences were committed on September 7 2012 at Mabika’s Chipinge farm.
During the trials Mabika maintained that she was a victim of political persecution.

MDC and ZAPU Strike Unity Deal

National_in-the-news-NATIONAL-Local_stripZimbabwe Election Offensive as Welshman and Dabengwa Strike Unity
The MDC and ZAPU parties today announced a historic unity deal which is likely to see the parties fielding only one candidate for the presidency.
The result of the pact is that the parties will not be at each others throats in constituencies and in some circumstances each party shall mobilise support for the other.
Below was the joint Communiqué:

Joint Communiqué from ZAPU and MDC
5 July 2013
This communiqué serves to notify the public that the MDC and ZAPU having met on various occasions have agreed as follows:
a) That in any constituency and or ward where one party has not fielded a candidate, the other party will mobilise its members and supporters to vote for the other party’s candidate.
b) That the parties would not discuss or enter into any pact or coalition with any other party other than with each other, namely, MDC and ZAPU (save in circumstances where an agreement would have been reached between the two parties). This was in recognition of previous discussions that had established that the two parties shared common values and principles.
c) With respect to the issue of the two parties’ Presidential candidature, the parties expressed the desirability of consolidating their share of votes by not splitting the vote. They however acknowledged the complexity of the issue and undertook to consult their respective executive committees to get guidance.
d) It was further agreed that the political parties would work towards the expansion of the level of cooperation after the forth coming elections.
The decision was today signed by Dr. Dumiso Dabengwa, Prof. Welshman Ncube, Mrs. Emelia Mukaratirwa (ZAPU Deputy), and Priscila Misihairabwi – Mushonga of Ncube’s MDC party.

Tsvangirai and Ncube ‘Unite’ Against Mugabe – Report

A historical breakthrough has lately been rumored as having emerged among the political forces in Zimbabwe. This has been triggered by the failure of the MDC parties to legally defer the election date further than 31 July 2013, ZimEye can exclusively reveal. In the light of that ruling where the upcoming election could be mired by irregularities that have remained hanging despite diplomatic attempts to iron them out, the opposition has emerged with a strategic counter move that will strengthen its position and secure a guaranteed victory without any doubt.
Such developments, if proven to be true, could send the ruling party into jitters and nightmares.
A senior and trusted source who chose to remain anonymous revealed to this publication that there is a major development today  after yesterday’s “frustrating” Constitutional Court judgement for elections now officially slated for 31 July 2013.

Unity against Mugabe? Morgan Tsvangirai, a Ncube representative, Simba Makoni and Dumiso Dabengwa, in a recent meeting
Unity against Mugabe? Morgan Tsvangirai, a Ncube representative, Simba Makoni and Dumiso Dabengwa, in a recent meeting

“It is a major development,” the source said without going into further details which shall become fully known around midday today(Friday).
It is believed a deal has been reached to unite all three opposition forces MDC-T, MDC and ZAPU which shall tentatively be led by Morgan Tsvangirai, seconded by Welshman Ncube. In the same venture Dumiso Dabengwa is designated to head the Defence Ministry in a new government if the coalition succeeds. It has been further claimed that current MDC-T vice president Thokozani Khupe is said to have bitterly opposed the proposed arrangement, insisting she was elected by the party’s congress, but was allegedly overruled by Tsvangirai.
“Tsvangirai feels more vulnerable than ever due to his love scandals, growing divisions in his own party and opinion polls that point to possible defeat in the elections, hence the alliance with one of his most visceral critics in Ncube,” said an observer clued into the negotiations.
Some analysts and commentators see this deal as the only assured way to eliminate any Zanu Pf antics to still hang on to power. With all the loopholes that include an opaque voters roll with deceased names and many non-existent people, a combined force could be the inevitable clash of Titans that could see a solid opposition grab power with minimum hassle.
In case this deal goes through as noted, Zanu Pf could be sent into the abyss this 2013, marking an end to a 32 year reign that has seen many irregularities and economic meltdown coupled with corruption, ballot stuffing and defined power hunger.
But when reached for comment, senior members of Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s party confessed ignorance to the development and a comment could not be obtained from either Welshman Ncube or Dabengwa
Disclaimer: ZimEye however wishes to advise our valued readers that this report is still on the rumour mill and is unconfirmed (at the time of writing). There are chances that the news articles claiming this unity deal as official could be unfounded or misleading.

Elections on 31 July: MDC-T Blasts Court for Being “Political”

Zimbabwe Elections on 31 July: MDC-T Blasts Court for Being “Political”
The MDC-T led by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has said  that the court decision to go ahead with elections on 31st July reveals  the court has indulged itself in politics rather than aligning itself with the law.
The party’s spokesman Douglas Mwonzora said the court decision was political and not legal.
Mwonzora said the ruling is not surprising and accused the judges of showing bias in favour of Mugabe. “This was a predictable ruling by the constitutional court because it was clear it was going to make a political decision rather than a legal decision.
“This application was destined to fail anyway because it was poorly written by the Minister of Justice who wanted this particular outcome.”
Mwonzora told SWRadio Africa that the reason why the MDC-T wanted a postponement was so that people would be given ample time to register and inspect the voters’ roll.
All other requests for the election date to be removed were also turned down.
Mwonzora said the court did not take seriously the applications by ‘alien’ Mariah Phiri and human rights activist Nixon Nyikadzinowho also appealed for a delay saying their rights would be violated if elections are held this month.  “All that has been sacrificed because the Constitutional Court did not want to displease the emperor,” Mwonzora added.

Zimbabwe’s elections are set to go ahead on the 31 st July as decreed by the Court earlier, despite SADC resolutions that they should be delayed by two weeks to 14 August, a recommendation platooned and seconded by the two MDC parties at the recent Extra Ordinary SADC Summit in Maputo.
Chief Justice Chidyausiku who earlier ruled that President Mugabe should announce election dated no later than 31 July, yesterday re-announced  that elections have to proceed in accordance with president Mugabe’s earlier proclamation.
“For the avoidance of doubt, elections should proceed on the 31st of July in terms of the proclamation by the president of Zimbabwe in compliance with the order of this court,” Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku said.
The reasons for the verdict were not immediately available at the time of writing with the court promising to send them at a later time.
Before yesterday, many analysts had concluded that it was too late and would be difficult president Mugabe to change the 31st July date  as it would amount to political defeat for Mugabe to accept SADC recommendations.
Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai had applied for a 25-day delay from the July proclamation by Mugabe last month.
mwonzora3But the court said Thursday that Tsvangirai should have sought the delay soon after the judgment instead of waiting for Mugabe to announce the date.
“He left it to the President to do want he wants or else he could have come to the court sooner,” said one of the nine-judge court, Justice Luke Malaba.
Malaba said Tsvangirai’s reluctance to approach the courts earlier “meant he was happy with the date.”
Still, Tsvangirai’s spokesman Luke Tamborinyoka said the MDC-T leader would abide by the court ruling.

UK: 6 Zimbabweans Top Drug Dealers in Leicester

part1Six Zimbabwean male youths have been named among a group of 34 top arrested drug dealers in the United Kingdom’s Leicester, ZimEye can reveal.
The Zimbabwean young men were caught and arrested after a police Operation Nutmeg, was launched a year ago to target street dealers who were openly selling class A drugs such as heroin and crack cocaine.
One of the boys is a nephew to a known Zimbabwean pastor based in Nottingham. [Watch this space for Part 2 – Investigation by ZimEye in Leicester.]scamer_drug_dealers_welcome
Residents had complained to police that the dealing was leading to increased amounts of anti-social behaviour and making their lives a misery.
A community group which uses its own covert cameras to record crime on the St Peter’s estate in Highfields said street dealing has reduced since the operation.

Albert Berer, spokesman for St Peter’s Neighbourhood Monitoring, said he recognised several of the dealers.
Mr Berer said: “We have filmed some of these people openly selling drugs in the street, often in daylight.
“There would be queues of users waiting to buy from them.
“It is important to point out that a lot of these dealers don’t live in this neighbourhood and the users aren’t from here either.
“St Peter’s became the venue for their commerce and we suffered as a result.
“It has cleaned up a lot since the police dealt with these men but there is always the prospect others will follow them and try to fill the space that has been left.
“Our cameras are always watching and any film of a crime being committed will be passed to the police.”
Mohammed Dawood, councillor for Spinney Hills, said: “Drugs blight communities and it is good news the police have taken action against these people.
“They would have known the implications of what they were doing, but they made a decision to sell drugs because, presumably, they thought they wouldn’t get caught.
“A lot of them appear quite young so I think we still have a lot of work to do with young people to address the misuse of drugs.”
Police began gathering intelligence on the dealers a year ago before launching two waves of raids on homes, making arrests in May, June and October.
The raids yielded thousands of pounds in cash, mobile phones, drugs paraphernalia and cannabis.
Detective Superintendent Andy Lee said: “In all of the cases the evidence gathered was so strong that the offenders pleaded guilty.
“There is no place for illegal drugs in our communities and by working together we have proved that we can stop it.
“We would urge residents to continue to work with us to keep Leicester a safe place to work and live.
“I hope the results of this operation will send a clear message to those who deal in illegal drugs in Leicester – we will find out who you are, we will arrest you and you will be brought to justice.”

Candidate Imposition Scandal: Chamisa Says No Conflict At All On Kwinjeh

Zimbabwe: New Twist as Grace Kwinjeh is Abruptly Removed From Manicaland Post
The crisis in the MDC-T party regarding election candidate imposition, took a twist on Monday when the party’s Chairman for Manicaland, James Magarangoma who blew the whistle on gross electoral irregularities, was interrogated by the party on charges albeit unsustainable.
Magarangoma who last week broke ranks to challenge senior leaders after popular cadre Grace Kwinjeh was shockingly elbowed out after being mysteriously told she had lost the election, was on Monday dragged into a heated interrogation session where he was quizzed on allegations that he had refused to sign nomination papers for councilors who had won primaries.

He was on Monday interrogated by the entire party leadership allegations which have since failed to bring any merit or evidence of truth. Some of the people he was being interrogated on included those from Buhera West where no primary elections were held. Instead they imposed the candidates who include the current MP for the area. It also emerged the leaders wanted Magarangoma to sign papers for those who had either lost the primaries, been suspended or expelled from the party.
There were rumours on social networking website Facebook that Magaramombe had gone into hinding.
But MDC-T organising secretary, Nelson Chamisa rubbished the rumours.
Said Chamisa:
“…He is busy in the constituency campaigning in Manicaland so that we win the election, why will he be in hiding, hiding from who? Perhaps hiding away from ZANU PF, not from the people in MDC.
Chamisa said he had actually been physically with Magaramombe on Tuesday:
“I discussed a lot with and from me it didn’t look like he is in hiding.
“He is actually riding the MDC campaign not hiding,” Chamisa said.

Although there have been denials by Minister Chamisa, reports reaching ZimEye have said that Kwinjeh was elbowed out by a faction led by controversial Home Affairs minister Theresa Makone. It also emerged that attempts to soften Kwinjeh by offering her a vacant womens post in Manicaland, have since failed dismally and a battle continues to rage under the wooden desks at Harvest House.
Chamisa revealed that Kwinjeh may now be deployed elsewhere.
“The posts for women [in Manicaland have [already] been taken by [others[,” he said.
He also added that Grace may be deployed elsewhere saying the positions for deployment are many.
“Grace is a senior party leader, she one of our most dedicated leaders…
“Strategic deployment would be done by the leadership of party and it is my full knowledge that Grace takes the priority. She is on the list for deployment somewhere but I am not at liberty to say where. There are many positions for deployment are many,” said Chamisa.
It emerged that Grace Kwinje was initially nominated by the party’s Manicaland province under the proportional representative MPs ticket, but her name was mysteriously removed.
“Grace Kwinje was initially there (on the list), but was taken off mysteriously, and new names put through. All the people that were recommended on that list were just thrown out, no explanation, thus the outcry right now for people in Manicaland,”a party cadre said.

Obama Insists Zimbabwe Elections Must Take Place

National_in-the-news-NATIONAL-Local_stripUS President Barack Obama has said that Zimbabwe’s upcoming elections must take place even if they are delayed.
Addressing University of Johannesburg Soweto Campus delegates of the Young African Leaders’ forum, Obama said it despite the slow growth in the economy, Zimbabwe’s polls must be conducted as soon as is possible.
Said Obama:
“Zimbabweans have a new constitution. The economy is beginning to recover. So there is an opportunity to move forward.”
“[Elections must take place]… But only if there is an election that is free and fair and peaceful …so that Zimbabweans can determine their future without fear of intimidation and retribution. After elections there must be respect for the universal rights upon which democracy depends.”
Obama also hinted in another speech address to the press that he has agreed with President Jacob Zuma that reforms must move forward for the democratisation of the country.
“We agreed that the harassment of citizens and groups needs to stop, and reforms need to move forward so the people of Zimbabwe can cast their votes in elections that are fair, and free, and credible,” he said.
Since the government of national unity was formed in 2009, the MDC parties have been calling for a number of reforms including security and media changes. But analysts speculate that the outstanding and chief ones will no longer be possible at present since parliament was dissolved at the weekend and president Robert Mugabe now rules by decree until after election time July 31.
Constitutional law expert Professor Lovemore Madhuku hinted that Mugabe merely has to invoke presidential powers until election time.
“If there is an urgent law to be passed, the President has to invoke Presidential powers until we have a new Parliament.
“This is the more reason why we have been saying elections must be held as soon as possible,” he said.

MDC-T In Disarray As Disgruntled Kwinjeh Threatens Unspecified Action

Zimbabwe: Rebels Threaten To Destroy Both Zanu PF & MDC-T
As both MDC-T and ZANU PF entered day 3 of confusion, there was disturbing chaos in the MDC-T party at the weekend when the battle for the primaries for Makoni Central took a sharp twist on Saturday after the losing candidate Grace Kwinjeh threatened senior party cadres she accuses of allegedly rigging the election, with unspecified action.
This development became filthy when senior party members including the MDC-T’s Manicaland Provincial Chairman, Julius Magarangoma took to social networking website Facebook to outwardly express distrust of the party leadership in a grossly embarrassing rift that may disturb preparations for the upcoming elections due in 4 weeks’ time, as the latter openly slammed his bosses stating that they had struck out a clearly democratic election process with a mere “stroke of a pen” against Kwinjeh. Already Magarangoma has announced Saturday that “the brutal axe of suppression of the truth is about to descend on me,” for triggering the fracas.grace_kwinjeh412x232
This comes after Kwinjeh was told by organising secretary Nelson Chamisa that she had won the election but after a two week waiting period would be told by others that she actually lost due to a few ‘mysterious’ uncounted ballot boxes.
Kwinjeh yesterday did not mince her words but went ahead to threaten unspecified action on all her alleged enemies. She wrote on her Facebook wall:
“Strong words from Manicaland Provincial Chairman! I rest my case, I have assured those I respect and hold in high esteem in the party, not to comment anymore. We are all watching this space, there are consequences, for decisions we make…”
It was not clear what exactly Kwinjeh meant by ‘consequences,’ but she was commenting regarding words uttered by the Provincial Chairman, Julius Magarangoma, who wrote on his Facebook wall the following outburst:
“I felt sorry today for those old and battle weary ladies who were reduced to tears because their long awaited expectations were wiped off at the stroke of a pen. These are the women who have endured untold suffering in this struggle for change. They have been beaten, humiliated, some even raped but today they watched in horror as the senate, provincial council and proportional reps positions for the province were snapped up by people who never lifted a finger in support of this struggle. These are relatives and friends of those with power coming in just to reap where these poor souls have toiled for the past 13 years. I can’t be told to turn a blind eye to such gross injustice – never!!!!! Surely someone is going to pay dearly for this.”
Other party members on the website went ahead to spill alleged scandals involving top party leaders.
One female MDC-T worker commented in response: “I was priviledged to work with some of these women till Theresa with the help of Karenyi booted me out of my position attracting an unnecessary labour case against a party that asked me to work for it. Then it was ok for many cause it was Lynnette. Now maona ka mabasa amunorera? Damn Theresa and her surrogates. Damn those men who support such lunacy. We will rise again.” Meanwhile there has been an unconfirmed rumour that there is a group under MDC-T secretary general Tendai Biti which is backing Kwinjeh who Biti calls ambuya(aunt). It is then believed that Biti is working with Kwinjeh and the latter will be compensated for her losses soon after Biti has taken over over the party.
The local Newsday paper has reported various fireworks in both parties which it is claimed might result in these two major political giants splitting the votes which may in turn result in another government of national unity after many parliamentary hopefuls who were excluded have now filed in as independents. But both Zanu PF and the MDC-T have swiftly responded by taking a hardline stance against the rebel candidates.
Zanu PF secretary for administration Didymus Mutasa was quoted by the paper stating : “They have expelled themselves from the party. Each and every one of them who filed as an independent should know that they are no longer party members. There are rules and regulations governing primary elections and if you breach those, you are no longer one of us.” MDC-T national organising secretary Nelson Chamisa also issued a statement against all who have filed themselves as independents.
“In all the areas except the one case in Manicaland, primary elections were held and the party had one candidate per constituency. In the case of the one seat in Manicaland, because of time, we did not have primary elections and the party will have to determine the candidate. When one stands as an independent it is obvious they are no longer a member of the party,” he said.

Chiyangwa’s Philippines Professor Admits Got 4 O’Levels

The man who handed Businessman Phillip Chiyangwa an honorary doctorate in the Philippines, the so called ‘Dr’ Pythius Chovava has admitted obtaining four ordinary level subjects further confessing his links to fake universities that currently sell counterfeit degree certificates.
Lately, Chovava has been working for a dodgy Philippines-based so called Linus University that handed out Doctorate certificates to both Chiyangwa and Telecel founder James Makamba this year. In January the ever flamboyant Chiyangwa was handed the doctorate and most recently James Makamba got his at the end of May.
In this expose’ exclusively revealed by ZimEye, Pythius Chovava has since last week Friday been laboriously pleading for forgiveness with our reporters not to expose him any further. Per his own claims, that was after he was told he now risked losing his agency with the Philippines organization. But information at hand reveals he has been part of a money swindling enterprise that has seen countless Africans fall victim through losing their precious money. And Mr Chovava himself has already admitted at the least that his Irish University (from which he obtained his first PhD) and acted as an agent, is a dodgy institution. ZimEye is demanding the full list of all Zimbabweans who were handed the dodgy papers. However while the man has at present refused to divulge the list of Zimbos he facilitated in receiving the fake degree certificates, it has shockingly emerged that a known CBZ officer has been identified as one of beneficiaries from Chovava’s dirty services. ZimEye upholds that the full list of recipients of fake degrees should be made known with immediate effect if Chovava is to be forgiven at all.
ZimEye can also fully reveal that Chovava was running as an agent rather than a President

Top MDC-T Whistleblower Dies in US

A top MDC-T member who was chief among those who reported alleged vote rigging in the party’s US local elections in 2011, James Charlie, has died after a long kidney problem.
Born in 1968, Charlie’s death was announced on Friday afternoon.
Charlie was a founder member of MDC-T structures in USA and despite his health problems, he still served the party tirelessly and he is noted for driving more thousand miles to meetings at his own expense.
Born in 1968 in Zimbabwe, he is an unsung hero in the campaign for human hights and democracy in Zimbabwe. James was a political activist, devoted Christian, humanitarian and one who sought social justice for others before self, the party honoured him in a statement.
In 2011 he fearlessly complained and reported alleged vote rigging in the MDC-T’s US province after the Harare election assigned Tamasanqa Mahlangu was seen receiving gifts including a brand new suit before the ballots had been conducted. He also reported several other irregularities.

The late James Charlie
The late James Charlie

According to the party statement, he worked tirelessly during the formation of the first MDC-T Branch in the USA, the Dallas Branch in Texas, soon after stepping his foot on US soil from Zimbabwe. His hard work in recruiting new members into MDC-T resulted in the formation of more branches in other States.
The party statement further reads:
James Charlie devoted himself to the human rights struggle even as his health was failing. He would miss his dialysis appointment in order to attend a meeting with visiting political activists from Zimbabwe. In party matters, church matters or anything involving other people, Charlie would always make himself available. His dedication and commitment to Zimbabwe was recognized by his colleagues who recently raised money to help when he was in hospital.
James Charlie was a pragmatist and action oriented. His question all the time was What do we do next? He was eager to move his colleagues out of mere rhetoric and political grandstanding to practical action: whether it was raising money or demonstrating. For him, his frail health was almost like a minor inconvenience that could not stop him from his political activism.
Comrades and friends, ladies and gentleman, this was the Charlie we all knew. Charlie is a legend of unparalleled hospitality, kindness and leadership by example.
Thank you Charlie for your sharing in human services both at home and here abroad.
We pray his battle and efforts may be realized in the soon coming elections at home. James Charlie died in the trenches i USA. on June 2. 2013, fighting for a democratic Zimbabwe. He was, and will forever be a revered Zimbabwean democracy hero.
His body was flown and arrived in Harare yesterday, Saturday.
Meanwhile a church service was scheduled for Sunday at 13:30 hours at United Methodist Church, Chisipite Circuit, Highlands – Harare.
The burial will follow the next day, Monday.

Zimbabwe:Chindori-Chininga Car Accident Mystery Deepens

The death of the late MP for Guruve South and former Minister of Mines, Edward Chindori Chininga who died in a car accident last night raised eye brows after shocking photography footage from the mysterious car accident was released this morning.
The photos reveal the steering wheel firmly intact, and the windscreen almost crack-less, with only 30% of the bonnet partially damaged, an accident many have said is too mysterious to be forgotten.
“And how come the small tree did not fall?,” one man who requested anonymity told ZimEye by telephone.
“If the windscreen is perfect as we can see then what killed him,?” he added.

One Facebooker added another comment: “The amount of damage to that car does not suggest a high speed collision, furthermore, an SUV of this type is specialy designed to absorb frontal impact using crumple zones, airbags and seatbelts. there is no way such a minor collision can kill someone.”
These comments came at a time when Guruve villagers also said the intersection where the accident took place as reported by the state media actually does not have any trees.

Media houses have been at pains to establish the identities of the several passengers who escaped with what the state media said were ‘minor injuries’. To date the ZANU PF controlled media has remained quiet on who those poeple were that were in the MP’s vehicle.
Facebook gladiator Baba Jukwa posted the below message on Thursday morning:
Zimbabwe news coming in is that…….. whose numbers are ********** and ********** was also involved in the death of Chininga. Just have a look at this car and you will see that the car was smashed deliberately and for sure they will pay for strangling my cde dead. Keep calling and in-boxing all those involved I mentioned in my previous updates. Check the position of the car. More to follow—

Chindori-Chininga Had Unwavering Faith in Robert Mugabe | EXCLUSIVE
The late MP for Guruve South has died a few months after he complained of being hunted down by party collagues. He had faith in president Robert Mugabe who he wanted to be absolved from any blame, ZimEye can reveal.
Before he died, Edward Chindori-Chininga revealed to ZimEye his woes were with party secretary Didymus Mutasa. It was the same man who also moved to unceremoniously remove Chindori Chininga from the powerful constitution drafting team, COPAC in September 2011.
During that time, Chindori Chininga told ZimEye
“We should leave the President alone. He has nothing to do with this,” he said.
In a mournful Facebook post that later became popularly dubbed:”Did I step on Shef Mugabe’s Toes”, Chindori-Chininga poured his heart out on what was taking place in his party against him. He however spoke this using verbs that the Facebook gladiator Baba Jukwa now uses, “my party, my party, my party,” a reason speculated may have caused him to be a target for state security agents.
Said Chindori-Chininga at the time:
I did not leak a Zanu PF document to MDC-T or MDC. The Zimbabwe independent of November 4 on page two has a story from MDC and MDC-T COPAC co chairs Hon Mkosi and Hon Mwonzora respectively confirming who gave them the ZANU pf Constitutional document, when and where.
I have been declared Zanupf sell out and my being fired from Copac is supposed to be an example to other zanupf members. (But) I am just a low ranking member of Zanupf. If the intention is to flash out sell out or Wikileak Zanu-pf senior ranking members, don’t pick on a low ranking member who cannot challenge you in any organ of the party. In Shona they say ‘kana wada kudya imbwa, usadye bwanana, idya gono racho’. Wochiti here is an example ndadya gono rembwa – I have flashed out a sell out and given example.
Did I step on Chefs toes in my work?”

Zimbabwe: Coltart Responds to ‘Herald Nonsense’ on SADC Summit

Zimbabwe Heading for Another Sham-Disputed Poll
The MDC’s Legal Secretary, David Coltart at the weekend swung heavy blows on the State media after the latter published various falsehoods pertaining the much talked about SADC summit.
The misleading stories initially alleged that Coltart himself had broken ranks with his boss Welshman Ncube on the SADC Maputo initiative which later at the weekend resulted in the MDC formations trampling ZANU PF by obtaining a favourable ruling from the regional body.david_coltart412x232
Coltart on Sunday openly scoffed at the ZANU PF controlled Sunday paper which falsely claims that SADC has upheld Robert Mugabe’s 31st July election date. Said Coltart: “the Sunday Mail today is simply hilarious “SADC upholds July 31st poll date”; what are these fellows smoking?” The previous day, Coltart thumbed as nonsense a report by the sister paper the Herald which alleged he had criticised his own bosses. The Herald article had been printed without lifting a single quotation of the alleged uttered words it claimed Coltart spoke during a Bulawayo Initiative meeting on Thursday saying that Coltart said that although SADC was the facilitator to the Global Political Agreement, the onus was on Zimbabweans to determine their destiny. It even stated that he verbalised saying that Robert Mugabe was acting according to law by sideswiping parliament and imposing an election date.
Below was Coltart’s his response following the Herald Saturday article:
“I see that the Herald is up to its usual nonsense of distorting what people say to suit their own ends.
“The following report seriously distorts what I said on Thursday evening at the Bulawayo Press Club. What I actually said is that it is embarrassing that we cannot resolve problems ourselves and that results in SADC having to intervene. I have never questioned SADC’s role in Zimbabwe and in fact welcome it. It goes without saying that I fully support the actions of Minister Welshman Ncube and Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai in attending the SADC summit and the lobbying of SADC leaders to help us get out of the hole created by the unlawful and unconstitutional actions of ZANU PF, perpetrated this week.
“What is correct in the article is the portion which states that the only way we as a Government can restore legality to the electoral process is by going back to our own Constitutional Court to seek a review of the original order.
“Anyone who knows me well knows how much I love Zimbabwe and it deeply concerns me when our Nation cannot sort out its own problems and has to resort to the international community for help. It is indeed a national disgrace that we place ourselves in this situation and as a result leave ourselves open to international ridicule and interference. Herald story

Exactly How & Why The Warriors Lost To Guinea

SPORT-NEWSYESTERDAY’S Warriors disaster in Guinea was always in the making, following revelations that players were paid their allowances late for the Egypt match and had threatened to withdraw their services for last night’s match.
By Wellington Toni | Newsday
Reliable sources have informed NewsDay Sport that the players were only paid their allowances on Saturday — 24 hours before the match, while they received complimentary tickets from the national association at 10am — just a few hours before the match.
As if that was not enough, technical director Nelson Matongorere and team manager Sharif Mussa had to fork out money from their personnel pockets to buy fuel for the team to travel to training sessions at the National Sports Stadium from a local lodge.
“This explains why Peter (Ndlovu, assistant coach) and Pagels (Klaus, coach) were angry when Zifa CEO Jonathan Mashingaidze wanted to apportion blame on Matongorere.
“Players were not given complimentary tickets until 10am on match day. There was a lot of discomfort in camp that led to the heavy defeat,” sources said yesterday.
Mashingaidze questioned the presence of Matongorere on the Warriors bench during the Egypt tie.
Matongorere travelled with the team to Malawi and Zambia and also sat on the bench. Matongorere and Mussa did not travel with the national team to Guinea on Saturday morning.
Usual benefactor Zifa president Cuthbert Dube is away in Brazil for the 2013 Confederations Cup where he is a member of the organising committee.
Zimbabwe Football Trust chairman Tshinga Dube said all was in order.
“Everything has been taken care of,” he said on Friday.
NewsDay Sport then engaged Xolisani Gwesela, the new Zifa communications and media manager, on the issues raised, to no joy, referring all issues back to the technical team.
Minister of Education, Sport, Art and Culture David Coltart told this publication on Friday that he had not received any letter from the football trust requesting assistance.
But the timeline of events after the 4-2 home drubbing by Egypt reveal that this was disorder of the highest proportions.
The hosting of Egypt gobbled $234 000.
For the trip to Guinea, they needed $184 000, but they could only raise $100 000.
BancABC, a regional banking giant and sponsors of Castle Premiership clubs Dynamos, Highlanders, Black Mambas and a Super Eight competition, are reliably understood to have chipped in at the last moment with an unspecified amount of money to bail out Zifa.
MONDAY JUNE 10 — Warriors return to training after the loss to Egypt.
TUESDAY JUNE 11 — Warriors training in full swing at the National Sports Stadium, but Khama Billiat and Mathew Rusike are ruled out due to injuries. Chief striker Knowledge Musona also does not take part in the morning training session, although he is expected to travel.
WEDNESDAY JUNE 12 — At 1328hours, Zifa releases a statement that details the Warriors departure for Guinea the following day. It said the Warriors would depart on June 13 and arrive on June 14 in Conakry. The statement listed 33 people on the flight — five officials, eight technical members, 18 players and two journalists.
THURSDAY JUNE 13 — No trip. The Warriors are back in training at the Italian Sports Club late in the afternoon after only 16 tickets were secured — 12 for players and four for officials. The trip is rescheduled to Friday.
FRIDAY JUNE 14 — Pandhari Lodge asks the Warriors to leave their lodgings to make way for other parties that had booked the place as the Warriors try to organise a late training session at the NSS. Eventually, Pandhari gives them their courtesy bus which they use to go for training at 1500hrs.
There, coach Klaus Dieter Pagels, technical director Nelson Matongorere, team manager Sharif Mussa, assistants Lloyd Mutasa and Peter Ndlovu are engaged in serious discussions amid a flurry of phone calls on the trip, while the players continue their warm up on the field of play.
Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela confirms late in the evening that the team would leave aboard Kenyan Airways and were expected in Conakry on Saturday night. And everybody thought things, at least, were in order at the final hour.
Indications though had been that 14 players would travel, then 12 was the number being toyed around with later until Zifa release the following statement.
“The team will leave on Kenyan Airways at 0210hrs and arrive in Nairobi at 0615hrs. They will depart Nairobi at 0845hrs and arrive in Dakar, Senegal at 1530hrs.
They will then leave the Senegalese capital at 1920hrs and arrive in Conakry at 2115hrs,” Gwesela said then. “The delegation is made up of 25 members.”
This delegation supposedly included 18 players and seven officials.
SATURDAY JUNE 15 — 0200hrs — Knowlegde Musona, Ovidy Karuru and Patson Jaure are dropped from the squad due to injuries leaving only 15 players to make the trip. Hardlife Zvirekwi then loses his passport in Senegal…
SUNDAY JUNE 16 — News from Guinea is that both Washington Arubi and Max Nyamupanedengu — both goalkeepers will be fielded during the match…

Mugabe Imposes Zimbabwe Election Date as Tsvangirai Protests

National_in-the-news-NATIONAL-Local_stripPrime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has vowed to block President Robert Mugabe after the latter unilaterally imposed election dates for this years’ polls.
After invoking his presidential powers amid protest, Mugabe told Tsvangirai this morning (Thursday), that combined national elections are to be held on the 31st July without fail, and the nomination of candidates set to 28th June 2013.
Tsvangirai has however refused to accept Mugabe’s proclamation letter(below) as he said Mugabe has acted against the Global Political Agreement stipulations which say the president must consult with the prime minister.
“President Mugabe’s actions are a unilateral and flagrant breach of our Constitution and the GPA. I, as PM, cannot and will not accept this. Moreover, part 111 of the 6th schedule of our Constitution makes it clear that there shall be an intense 30-day voter registration exercise,” he said.
He added:
“As Morgan Tsvangirai, the Prime Minister of Zimbabwe and the President of the MDC, I will not accept a situation where Zimbabweans will yet again be railroaded and frog-marched to another illegitimate and violent election.”
Below was Robert Mugabe’s letter delivered to Tsvangirai’s office Thursday morning:
In my capacity as President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, I hereby inform you that i have today issued a proclamation calling for the holding of Harmonised Elections, and fixing 28th June 2013 as the date for the nomination of aspiring candidates, and 31 July 2013 as the date for holding the polls.
This proclamation has been preceded by the enactment of the Electoral Amendments that were approved by cabinet on 11 June 2013.
Given the need to comply with the deadline for elections as imposed upon me by the constitutional judgement, it became expedient to await the passage through parliament of the Electoral Ammendment Bill to align the Electoral Law with the New Constitution. Accordingly I found it necessary to invoke the presidential powers (Temporary Measures) at Chapter 10.20 in order to comply with the order given by the Consitutional Court.
Yours Sincerely,
RG Mugabe

David Coltart Breaks Ranks with Boss-Report Unverified

A report published by the state media and recycled on social forum websites claiming that MDC Legal Secretary has reportedly broken ranks with his boss, Welshman Ncube by blasting the SADC appeal move for which a special summit is being held today Saturday in Maputo, is unverified.
A recording of the alleged speech by Coltart who is also the Minister of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture, was still not available at the time of writing after it emerged the state media have in the past 3 years been launching personality attacks on key MDC leaders.
The state media on Friday night reported claiming that Coltart the day before criticised his boss Welshman Ncube and MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai due to their mission to Maputo where they are taking their pre-election concerns amid revelations that ZANU PF is ignoring crucial reforms such as media and security sector transformation.

Lets not appraoch outsiders? ... David Coltart...
Lets not appraoch outsiders? … David Coltart…

A comment from Coltart was expected this weekend after the news articles were published on Friday night. An MDC member who declined being named, told ZimEye that David Coltart was the last person who could have made such utterances.
“I have serious concerns on that article. Do they have a recording of it? I know of a certainty that David has been victim of the state media machinery in recent years.
According to the Herald, Coltart said the habit of taking domestic disputes to SADC, which the MDC-T leader Mr Morgan Tsvangirai is fond of, was embarrassing.
“We are a sovereign country and I am a proud Zimbabwean. I do not believe that as a nation we should be guided by any outside country in solving our problems,” Coltart is recorded as having stated.
“It is not worthwhile to be running to Sadc all the time. The irony of it is that when we take our problems to them, we attract criticism and embarrass ourselves.”
The Herald article continued to claim (though without lifting a single quotation of the exact words) Coltart allegedly said that although SADC was the facilitator to the Global Political Agreement, the onus was on Zimbabweans to determine their destiny, also acknowledging that Robert Mugabe acted according to law, according o the Herald.
Mr Coltart, however, noted that there was room for parties to go back to the Constitutional Court, not Sadc, to argue their case citing reasons why they feel July 31 was not feasible, it is claimed.
“I am not one of those who say we should ignore the Constitutional Court ruling because it is binding. I also do not criticise the content of the ruling.
“The correct procedure in my view would be to go back to the Constitutional Court and say it would be difficult to comply with the ruling,” further read the Herald article ascribing words to Coltart.
It was last night speculated that Coltart’s words are a deviation from the official party line and a breaking away from his own boss Welshman Ncube who together with Tsvangirai reacted in anger at the Contitutional Court ruling development which has seen Robert Mugabe rush to prepare the nation for looming elections.

Philippines University’s President Only Got 4 O’Levels

 – No single published academic paper visible
 – REVEALED: Dr Chovava’s compromising relationship with Chiyangwa (Upcoming)
The president of the so called St Linus University (SLU) based in the impoverished Philippines, which has dished out controversial doctorate degrees to Zimbabwean businessmen Phillip Chiyangwa and James Makamba, managed only 4 O’ Levels, ZimEye can exclusively reveal.
In this series of exclusive investigations, ZimEye reveals the shameful compromising relationship between the so called “Dr” Chovava, and Phillip Chiyangwa  and in this issue, that “Dr” Pythias Chovava only managed 4 O’Levels and in 1990 could only become a cashier.

How did a cashier who once had no ordinary level education rise to the position of president of a University and get to possess a PhD  without a single trace of his written works?
“Dr” Chovava served tables as a cashier at the National Tyres company at Cripps Road, in Harare’s Graniteside industrial area in the 90s.
This revelation comes as this publication queried to him why he himself claims to have a PhD certificate and yet does not have a single visible published paper, a standard norm in the world of doctoral academics.
The only published document that has been identified to date is a mere one page list of persons by a dodgy UK hosted website, named as Institute of Professional Finance Managers which does not have a single contact number. One of Chovava’s credentials cite this makeshift organisation which claims accreditation of so called professionals.
There is no contact number on the IPFM website, and records in the registrar of domains reveal two phone numbers which are not valid phone numbers. The makeshift website which created using free open source software Joomlah, contains unstructured street English. One of the lines on the site read:
“We are regularly out on the web. When we find a great site we list it here for you to enjoy.”
Chovava’s credentials are believed to be evasive as they do not disclose what they exactly are. They read: “Dr Pythias Chenjerayi Chovava BSc MBA PhD ACEA AFCA CPFM FIPFM MDSTI Executor and Judicial Manager (Registered)

Chamu Chiwanza, Affirmative Action Group (A.A.G) Sr. Vice President and National Chairman of the Zimbabwe Youth Council flanked by Dr. Chowawa and the graduand.
Shameless and looking down…Mr. Chovava (in spectacles-left), Affirmative Action Group (A.A.G) Sr. Vice President and National Chairman of the Zimbabwe Youth Council, Chamu Chiwanza with James Makamba at the latter’s graduation ceremony

Mr Chovava has since been asked to prove these credentials.
When contacted numerous times, Chovava’s cellphone number was automatically diverting to a South African number which also did not go through to be answered.
It was only after a text message was sent to the Zim number that Chovava within seconds replied with the message:
“Who is this now?”
It was at that time that instantly his phone stopped diverting to South Africa and he answered the call only to hang up after being told it was a media inquiry.
When however questioned in January by the Daily News paper concerning his awarding of Phillip Chiyangwa, Chovava suggested he even had backing even from the army in the Phillippines.
“I am a graduate of the same institution with a PhD and I was there last April with three Zimbabwean students who were graduating.
“So popular is the institution that when I was there, security was provided by the Philippino army.
“Registration with the Hague Convention was to internationalise the transnational arm of the college so that its certificates are accepted worldwide.
I am a pastor and would not be involved in anything dubious,” said Chovava.
Photographs of the graduation ceremony officiated by Chovava when he granted James Makamba a PhD this month,  show noone else but a handful Zimbabweans who are members of the controversial Chiyangwa formed Affirmative Action Group.
Already Chovava has admitted that St Linus University (SLU) is a registered company in the tiny Dominica island, and not the Phillippines where he is operating it from. ZimEye hereby warns Zimbabweans to stay away from the so called Linus University institution until Chovava comes into the open about his credentials and his so called university.
Watch this space for Part 2 of this exclusive expose’ which shall reveal the compromising relationship between Chovava and Phillip Chiyangwa.

SADC Cancels Zimbabwe Summit

National_in-the-news-NATIONAL-Local_stripPrime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai received shock news on Thursday afternoon when a (SADC)Southern African Development Community official announced through a Chinese news agency the cancellation of an emergency SADC the premier had together with other major opposition parties called for a challenge of the Supreme Court ruling compelling the government to hold elections before the 31st July.
According to the Chinese Xinhua news agency, SADC confirmed Thursday that the special summit on Zimbabwe’s upcoming elections scheduled on June 9 in Maputo, Mozambique, has been cancelled.
An official from SADC Executive Secretary Tomaz Salomao’s office who identified herself as Dorcas reportedly told Xinhua in a telephone interview that the summit would not go ahead as scheduled.
“It won’t take place on the 9th. I cannot give you reasons but it won’t take place on the 9th. That’s all I can tell you,” she said.
SADC has not yet released an official statement.
The planned summit was supposed to discuss Zimbabwe’s elections, in particular the recent supreme court ruling on the holding of elections, as well as possible funding.
While a statement from Tsvangirai’s office was not ready at the time of writing, Professor Welshman Ncube’s deputy spokesman Kurauone Chiwayi said they had been officially informed of the cancellation.
Said Chihwayi:
“We are very much aware of the cancelled because we have been officially advised. The MDC intends to take the issue of the roadmap, reforms and electoral act amendments to SADC, Zimbabweans should not read much into the constitutional court ruling; elections will take place in Zimbabwe this year but there is need to agree on reforms such as security sector, media and electoral reforms. The MDC will press SADC on the need to fully implement the agreed roadmap first before we go to elections. Zimbabweans should except a bruising battle in Maputo. Professor Welshman Ncube will take the interests of the majority to SADC before we go to elections,” he said.
President Robert Mugabe last week said that he would comply with a Constitutional Court ruling that elections should be held by July 31.
The cash-strapped government is also expected to get aid from the regional bloc to fund the electoral process. The government says it needs at least 100 million U.S. dollars to go to the polls.

Chaos as Chinhoyi University Expels 50 Lecturers

The Vice Chancellor of the Chinhoyi University of Technology, Prof David Simbi has come under pressure after he caused chaos last week when he officiated letters expelling more than 50 lecturers who yet stood by the institution in difficult times during the economic downfall period of 2006 to 2009.
In a development that now triggers a string of lawsuits against the university and subsequently the Zimbabwean government , the university over the past 7 years hired the staff members as lecturers, only to later abruptly cancel the contracts and force them to sign new terms which the University has now violated.
At the time of writing at least 4 expelled staffers had received news that their termination letters have been revoked under unclear circumstances just as a mood of uncertainly swept over the whole institution since last week.
These are the same employees who sustained the university through the economic trials of the recent years 2006 – 2009 when many staffers left the country en masse. When the government of national unity was formed however in 2009, they were all soon abruptly forced to cancel their standing contracts. New contracts were then forced on them reportedly under duress with their titles being stripped down to mere ‘teaching assistants’. The new contracts would then expire at the end of each year in December and be renewed thereafter.
But the registrar last week issued a directive reportedly under support of the Vice Chancellor, stating that the staff members were now expelled with immediate effect 6 months before the expiry of their contracts.
With their contracts cancelled and an abrupt contractual arrangement forced on them, which has albeit been violated, the staffers are now seeking legal recourse.
There was chaos last week which affected not only the staffers but also the students’ morale.david_simbi412x232
Efforts to obtain a comment from both the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar were fruitless since last week Thursday and email inquiries were neither replied nor acknowledged despite more than 6 telephone based verbal inquiries.
The Registrar’s secretary however claimed to ZimEye that the staffers are not lecturers but are teaching assistants.
“They are not lecturers, but rather teaching assistants,” she said before mentioning that the Registrar was in a meeting. More to follow…

“Hundreds Turning to Mawere Party Meetings”

Up to 250 people converged in Mabvuku on Saturday at the weekend.
In the picture party coordinator Ashiri Mawere addresses the crowd in a community hall.
He told ZimEye soon after the rally:
“The crowd is growing,” he said.
We meet with the disabled and widows of the area and the level of unemployment, poor housing, and healthcare is sad.”
Mawere said that the 250 figure does not include the leadership.
Mawere`s UMD party which was started at the end of December last year, hopes to become the next big name in Zimbabwean politics to challenge Robert Mugabe and Morgan Tsvangirai.
Mutumwa Mawere who has accepted the nomination stated however that the party was not started by him as claimed in some media circles.

Zimbabwe:Supreme Court Judge Defects Against Mugabe

War is brewing faster in the file and rank of Zimbabwe’s Constitutional Court over a recent judgement instructing President Robert Mugabe to hold elections no later than 31st July 2013, and a judge sitting on the 9 panel quorum that presided over the latter verdict on Friday, has come out into the public slamming his own colleagues.
Two judges Deputy Chief Justice Luke Malaba, and Justice Bharat Patel on Friday had already dissented.

Chief Justice Luke Malaba
Chief Justice Luke Malaba

Justice Luke Malaba was later quoted in public labelling the judgement illogical. His words were nakedly printed expressing extreme displeasure. Justice Malaba said the decision “defied logic” in finding Mugabe was in breach of his constitutional responsibilities although” at the same time authorizing him to continue acting unlawfully” by proclaiming a July date.
“That is a very dangerous principle and has no basis in law. The principle of the rule of law just does not permit such an approach,” said Malaba who is known for previously granting bail to MDC-T supporters controversially accused of murdering Glen View police officer Petros Mutedza in 2011.
Malaba’s words came after the 9 member panel in Zimbabwe’s highest court ruled that Robert Mugabe and his  government must conduct elections before the 31st July 2013 failure which they would be in breach of the constitution.
But how can such a decision be reached while at the same time the Supreme Court is ruling that Mugabe is in breach of his constitutional responsibilities, Justice Malaba questioned.
Malaba said that Zimbabwe’s elections can be held even four months later after the dissolution of parliament during a time when also the electorate are being prepared before voting so that they can have a meaningful contribution to the electoral process.
It is illogical to conduct elections soon after dissolution and in the time frame now given, as this would affect the electorates’ constitutional rights, contented Malaba.
Malaba went ahead to state in proverbial language openly ridiculing the decision by saying that he cannot be fooled by it.
“I …refuse to have wool cast over the inner eye of my mind on this matter,” said Malaba.
Malaba’s statements come after Zimbabwe’s judiciary was slammed for being allegedly controlled by the presidency, something which the country’s Justice Minister, Patrick Chinamasa denies. Chinamasa told ZimEye recently that all such allegations are “damn lies,” and should be dismissed with contempt.

Zimbabwe Has An Independent Judiciary – Chinamasa

Zimbabwe has an independent judiciary contrary to what critics claim, Zimbabwe’s Justice Minister Patrick Chinamasa says.
Mr Chinamasa told ZimEye in an exclusive interview that claims that the country’s judges are controlled by President Robert Mugabe, are false.
“That is damn lies,” said Chinamasa. He continued:
“…and should be dismissed with the contempt those allegations deserve. We have a very independent judiciary which comes to conclusions on the basis the merits of of cases and allegations, and facts presented before them.
“That of course has no basis at all,” he said.
Chinamasa comments came barely a few weeks before the supreme court ruled that Zimbabwe must hold elections before the end of July 2013, a verdict the MDC-T party says was purely political and the supreme court does not have a mandate to set an election date. Tsvangirai’s spkesman Luke Tamborinyoka said the Supreme Court judges had over-stretched their mandate.
But some news readers have argued to the contrary, stating against the MDC-T position that section 158 is very specific on the timing of elections and that the Supreme Court merely acted on the basis of written stipulations.

Zimbabwe:Outrage Over Judge’s Verdict On 31 July Election Date

Harare:There was outrage in Harare over a supreme court ruling that yesterday declared that Zimbabwe should hold elections within the upcoming 8 weeks’ time.
Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku yesterday ordered President Robert Mugabe to proclaim election date and hold elections before 31 July.
“The 1st respondent is ordered and directed to proclaim dares for Presidential, General and election governing bodies in terms of section 58(1) of the constitution, which election should take place by not later 31 July 2013,” Justice Chiweshe ruled on Friday.
Zanu PF has been demanding immediate elections  following the end of the current Parliament on June 29, while the MDC formations state that a four-month delay is constitutionally possible.

Zimbabwe:Furor over Election 31 July Date Verdict
Zimbabwe:Furor over Election 31 July Date Verdict

The MDC formations have been calling for an adjustment to allow implementation of further reforms. These reforms include key matters such as security sector concerns which the MDCs have complained about saying that Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF would stand at an unfair advantage against them.
Last week the court reserved judgement on the case in which the controversial director of the Centre for Elections and Democracy in Southern Africa Jealousy Mawarire, was sought that President Robert Mugabe should announce elections date before June 29.

Mawarire in his court papers argued that with the looming of the expiry of the life of parliament come the 29th of June 2013, read against the inaction in the part of his excellence the President in so far as proclaiming the dates for the holding of elections is concerned was going to lead to a very distinct possibility that beyond the 31st of June the country was going to be running effectively by decree because they will be no parliament. The country needs U$130 million to hold polls.
But Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai dismissed the supreme court ruling saying the court had no power to set an election date adding also that the judges had “overstepped their mandate.”
Said Tsvangirai through his spokesperson, Luke Tamborinyoka.
“The Supreme Court has no power whatsoever to set an election date. In the true spirit of separation of powers, an election date remains a political process in which the executive has a role to play…
“There is clear evidence that there are some within the executive who wish to circumvent the consultative role in the GPA and the share responsibility enshrined therein to pronounce an election date under the cloak of judicial authority.
“An election date is the responsibility of the executive, which has not shown that it has failed to announce such a date. SADC and the people of Zimbabwe know that an election date is a result of political pronouncements in which the judiciary has no role to play.
“The Principals have a consultative mechanism that would ensure that a date is proclaimed following an agreement by all parties. This is what SADC, the AU and the people of Zimbabwe expect, not a date set up under the cover of the judiciary without a mechanism to ensure to that issues of the election environment and reforms are addressed.”

UK Warning to Africans as ‘Racist’ EDL Descends On Leicester

Warnings have gone out to people in Leicestershire communities that it may be best to stay out of Leicester City Centre and the surrounding areas on Saturday 1 June. Leicester English Defence League who it is believed hold extreme racial prejudices, have called a march in the city centre this Saturday, 1 June at 10am.
Their intention is to march from the High Street, past the Clock Tower and up to Victoria Park located in London Road. They have stated that their reasons for calling this march is to ‘pay their respects’ to murdered soldier Lee Rigby. Many however will not be pacified by this but instead will hold this apparent intention with a dubious regard. EDL is infamously renowned for their far right views, which some would suggest are blatantly fascist. EDL claims to be a human rights oriented group that aims to promote the peaceful protest against Islamist extremism. Many however would suggest that the EDL are nothing more than Islamaphobics attempting to legitimise their hatred. Despite their suggested peaceful cause the EDL appears to attract far right extremists of their own, as has been seen in the past by their demonstrations turning violent. On Monday, many EDL supporters were seen paying their respects by making Nazi salutes at the Centaph in London. The armed forces charity Help for Heroes last week publicly distanced itself from the EDL –refusing to take a £3,000 donation from the organisation.EDLLLLL
In Leicester Unite Against Fascism, local trade unionists, faith groups and community groups will join together in a peaceful show of unity by protesting the presence of EDL in their city by meeting at the Clock Tower at 9am on Saturday morning and making it known once again that any intolerance, religious or otherwise is unwelcome in their city. This is not the first time the EDL has visited the city of Leicester, which is renowned for being multicultural. They descended upon the city of Leicester on the 4th February 2012, however the police force and local communities came together and took a stand for unity. Although there were several incidents of violence it was greatly controlled. For those living or intending to visit the Leicester City area, please be pre-warned. For further information please contact your local police stations and local community police officers. ZimEye is in discussions with Leicestershire Constabulary and will keep our valued readers informed.

Bill Gates Rubbishes Author’s Book on Africa

The founder of computer software giant company Microsoft, Bill Gates has rubbished a book written by prominent Zambian author Dr Dambiso Moyo saying it promotes evil.
The billionaire Gates, who has been involved in multiple projects working to alleviate poverty in an interview said Dr Moyo’s book which criticises aid giving to Africa is one in a number of books that “promote evil”.
Dr Moyo’s book titled “Dead Aid” criticises many actions of western business people and celebrities who have been sending billions to Africa for several decades. The problem is that a lot of that aid goes into government coffers and is squandered, she argues.
Video of Bill Gates’ criticism of Dambisa Moyo below:

Dambisa Moyo has in response written a rebuttal firing back at Mr Gates. Below was her statement:
On May 28th, 2013 during a Q&A session at the University of New South Wales, Bill Gates, co-Founder of Microsoft and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, made some shocking and inappropriate ad-hominem attacks against me and my book Dead Aid.
In this video excerpt, Mr. Gates answers a question about Dead Aid: Why Aid Is Not Working and How There is A Better Way for Africa by claiming that I “didn’t know much about aid and what it was doing” and that my work is “promoting evil”.gates412x232
I find it disappointing that Mr. Gates would not only conflate my arguments about structural aid with those about emergency or NGO aid, but also that he would then use this gross misrepresentation of my work to publicly attack my knowledge, background, and value system.
I would like to take this opportunity to address both of Mr. Gates’ claims here:

  1. I wrote Dead Aid to contribute to a useful debate on why, over many decades, multi billions of dollars of aid has consistently failed to deliver sustainable economic growth and meaningfully reduce poverty. I also sought to explicitly explain how decades of government to government aid actually undermined economic growth and contributed to worsening living conditions across Africa. More than this, I clearly detailed better ways for African leaders, and governments across the world, to finance economic development. I have been under the impression that Mr. Gates and I want the same thing – for the livelihood of Africans to be meaningfully improved in a sustainable way. Thus, I have always thought there is significant scope for a mature debate about the efficacy and limitations of aid. To say that my book “promotes evil” or to allude to my corrupt value system is both inappropriate and disrespectful.
  2. Mr. Gates’ claim that I “didn’t know much about aid and what it was doing” is also unfortunate. I have dedicated many years to economic study up to the PhD level, to analyze and understand the inherent weaknesses of aid, and why aid policies have consistently failed to deliver on economic growth and poverty alleviation. To this, I add my experience working as a consultant at the World Bank, and being born and raised in Zambia, one of the poorest aid-recipients in the world. This first-hand knowledge and experience has highlighted for me the legacy of failures of aid, and provided me with a unique understanding of not only the failures of the aid system but also of the tools for what could bring African economic success.

To cast aside the arguments I raised in Dead Aid at a time when we have witnessed the transformative economic success of countries like China, Brazil and India, belittles my experiences, and those of hundreds of millions of Africans, and others around the world who suffer the consequences of the aid system every day.
In conclusion, I am disappointed that Mr. Gates would choose the route of personal attacks rather than a logical counter argument about the role of aid in modern Africa. Such attacks add no value in the important discussions on the challenges the world faces to deliver economic growth, eradicate poverty, combat disease, and reduce income inequality, to name a few.
As I have always maintained, I respect the views of others and am open to having logical and meaningful debates with the ultimate goal of finding sustainable solutions to Africa’s economic problems.
Thank you,
Dr. Dambisa Moyo

Zimbabwe’s Environment Minister in Cabinet Meeting With Elephants – PHOTO OF THE DAY

“When your heart is open to nature, nature responds with the same,” says Zimbabwe’s Environment and Tourism Minister, Francis Nhema in the below photo snapped at one of the country’s top eye-catching nature conservancies. As he arrives with his guide, he is immediately mobbed by a group of massive gigantic elephants who appear to be continuously conversing with him.

Dead CIO Boss’ Family Gets Windfall Tax Lump Sum

The family of the late CIO Deputy  General, Elias Kanengoni has received a lump sum tax reprieve from government, ZimEye can reveal, in a development which further shows how the Zimbabwean government has to date lost millions of dollars in money that could have been collected and utilised in crucial service delivery for the nation at large.

The Late Elias Kanengoni
The Late Elias Kanengoni

This comes soon after the late Mr Kanengoni was granted the status of national hero. Such a status attracts, among other benefits, a whopping tax reprieve that benefits the estate handsomely. In addition to government aid in funeral expenses that include feeding mourners, the government stands to lose  uncollected amounts on duty as the estates of all persons declared national heroes are given automatic tax exemption. Such a development has seen government failing to collect billions of dollars over the past 20 years as the supposed duty funds are never touched. For instance, the estate of heroes like the late Retired Army General Solomon Mujuru (speculated into billions), would normally add value to government coffers through millions of precious but idle money supposed to be estate duty and taxes. Unfortunately, the politicians who are normally wealthy through land, cash and other assets emerging through their political careers, rule from the grave and are shielded from scrutiny by ZANU PF-initiated but legislated policy that makes their estates remain unaffected by duty and taxes.
In terms of section 3 of the National Heroes Act Chapter 10:16. of Zimbabwe, once a person  s designated as a hero,  their estate is exempt from estate duty.

Tsvangirai ‘Was Not Snubbed By African Union’

Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai was not snubbed by the African Union as has been claimed by the Herald newspaper, the latest evidence from various consultations reveal.
On Saturday the state media’s reporter Caesar Zvayi claimed that Tsvangirai was blocked by the African Union. The article also named an NGO which was rather the one snubbed by the body. The Herald article failed to disclose when and how the allegedly AU did this thing while the journalist on the story also failing to interview sources, if any.
Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Ethiopia Andrew Mtetwa has revealed that contrary to the Herald journo’s claims, he was actually expecting Mr Tsvangirai but Tsvangirai suddenly went quiet on Friday, confirming explanations given by the PM’s office.
The PM’s Minister of State, Jameson Timba travelled to Ethiopia, a development which confirmed there was no snub at all as alleged.
PM Tsvangirai’s spokesperson Luke Tamborinyoka said Tsvangirai rather cancelled his trip because his wife was not feeling well: “He was supposed to travel to Addis Ababa today, but cancelled the trip because his wife (Ms Elizabeth Macheka) is not feeling well,” said Tamborinyoka.
He added: “Ours is a unique situation where there is shared power. All the principals were invited by the AU and this matter was discussed during the principals meeting and they agreed they should all go. The AU are guarantors of this power-sharing deal and that is the reason why the principals agreed that all of them were supposed to attend the celebrations.”herald250
A party insider further revealed there was no snub at all and there was no basis whatsoever for the Herald article: “It is not procedural for me to do so but I can tell you that what the paper is saying is not true. We were actually at the airport yesterday when we aborted the trip on account of sudden illness in the PM’s family. As a caring family man he prioritised he did what any responsible father would do. The PM and the President even agreed at the principals meeting on Monday that given the character of our GNU all principals should attend the Jubilee celebrations and this is why DPM Mutambara traveled with the President. For security reasons you can’t put the President and the PM on the same aircraft. To also rebut the claims of a snub, the PM’s advance party led by Minister Timba is actually in Addis right now, attending the celebrations because they had travelled a day earlier. The idea that the PM was snubbed is nothing short of propaganda and a smear campaign against Tsvangirai which even the President castigated just a few days ago,” he said

MLF Threatens Military Action on Britan over Zimbabwe

The South Africa based Mthwakazi Liberation Front separatist group on Monday issued a threat for armed war to the United Kingdom and Zimbabwe, declaring a 90 day ultimatum failure which they claim they will pursue among others, military action to achieve their objectives.
Writing directly to the British monarchy, the organisation’s spokesman David Magagula said failure to comply with their requests would attract imminent war after 90 days.
The MLF has to date been seeking to slice Zimbabwe into two equal halves to represent what it claims were the original historic mappings of the country in the late 1800s. The result of that slicing would result in the creation of a second country named as ‘Mthwakazi’ which is exactly half the size of the present day Zimbabwe plateau.
“We will wait not more than three months before assuming that non response entitles us to take this matter the way we see fit,” the group’s correspondence statement read.

MLF Burning Zimbabwe’s Flag – FILE COPY

I write on behalf of the people of Matabeleland (Mthwakazi), a Kingdom destroyed by Her Majesty’s forces under the banner of the British South Africa Company (BSAC) in 1894. This is the third time we seek audience with Her Majesty on the restoration of the kingdom of Matabeleland (Mthwakazi State).
In our last correspondence, you directed us to the Zimbabwean government. We have since engaged the Zimbabwean government on this crucial matter and we got the harshest of the replies from Robert Mugabe, the sitting President in the binary arrangement (whereby Matabeleland and Mashonaland were bundled into one country without the consent of the subjects into Rhodesia then and Zimbabwe today) which you created in a Whites only referendum of 1923.
From the onset, we had refused to be directed to our second colonisers, Zimbabwe because it is not Zimbabwe that bundled the two separate states but Britain immediately after the conquest in the Anglo –Ndebele war of 1894. From that time till 1980, successive governments in Rhodesia took turns to misrule our people by use of the stringent Matabeleland Order in Council of 1896 which is still in force today and adequately enforced by the government of Robert Mugabe. To us, this means that Britain handed us and our state over to Zimbabwe at decolonisation in 1980 to perpetuate our oppression, an illegal arrangement again to the detriment of our nations’ welfare and prosperity.
We have resolved that we write You this letter once more before we drag You and the British government to the International Court of Justice (ICCJ) and to the United nations (UN), a move we are serious contemplating right now.
We regret to have resolved to take such a stance and we add that this is the last peaceful means that we the people of Mthwakazi will do before we engage the occupying regime otherwise, in the not so distant a future. We have sufficient evidence to push Your State and government to its knees while we prepare to settle the issue militarily with the obdurate Zimbabwean government.
Your urgent response and action on this matter is paramount. We will wait not more than three months before assuming that non response entitles us to take this matter the way we see fit.
Yours faithfully

UNICEF representative, Dr. Gianfranco Rotigliano will also speak at the function.

Thugs who Beat Up Jah Prayzah Fans Hunted Down By British Police

(Leicester)Violent thugs who caused mayhem at the just ended Jah Prayzah show in Leicester, UK are being investigated by the local police and could end up in court soon in a development that might soon see Zimbabwean music shows being banned in the area because of the violence which caused the ambulance services to attend to casualties.
The full list of the marauding thugs is being compiled by the Leicestershire Police who are determined to execute justice on the unscrupulous individuals who beat up several innocent fans at the show during a commotion where others threatened to assault the visiting singer for failing to play for the full duration of the show as promised.
The list of names submitted to the police include a controversial Manchester disk jokey, Simbarashe Nyanhanga (also known as Cde DJ SimbaRashe) who took personal interest interrupting an inquiry with the promoters for the violence 2 days after the horrific incident as he made futile claims that no one was assaulted.
As he interrupted our reporter, Nyanhanga claimed our article which yet contained the full colour video expose was wrong. He rudely charged in full view of onlookers saying the violence did not take place and that we should have not published the story: “That article you published was wrong. Why on earth did you publish it? I was there myself and what you wrote did not happen at all, 50 percent of what you wrote is false,” he claimed.
He even said that no-one was beaten up:
“Akarohwa ndiani – Who was beaten up as you claim?”,he said.
“Your video was completely irrelevant,” he added.

Obstruction of justice...Simbarashe Nyanhanga
Controversial..Simbarashe Nyanhanga

He was immediately challenged to point to a single example of his allegations. But on lookers who included fans, journalists and other disk jokeys were however stunned when Nyanhanga became tight lipped failing to provide a valid pointer to support his claims.  Nyanhanga’s actions denied the promoter and the artist to issue a recorded explanation to valued fans.
Nyanhanga even claimed to belong to Diamond Studios, Jah Prayzah’s recording company and promoters, as he attempted to justify his behaviour. But when contacted for comment, Diamond Studios’ boss Mr Steady Munyukwi dismissed Nyanhanga’s claims saying he is not even known in Diamond Studios.
“He neither works for nor with Diamond Studios”, said  Munyukwi.
“If there is anyone who should be complaining, it would have to be me,” Munyukwi clarified.
Fans have been assured that the violent thugs will not be allowed access to future shows.
Nyanhanga is not new to controversy and last year he personally hijacked a Miss Zimbabwe UK pageant which ended up not taking place for the year 2012.
ZimEye can reveal that Leicestershire police are investigating the damning violence in which several fans were brutally beaten up and subsequently caused Jah Prayzah to leave the premises in full speed. Cops were as of yesterday carefully examining video footage and performing their criminal investigations.

“Tongogara Cannot Be Dead,” :Didymus Mutasa

There was shock last week after ZANU PF’s secretary for administration, Didymus Mutasa, rubbished news that liberation war army general Josiah Magama Tongogara’s elder brother, Michael died a week before. Mutasa with his denials, has since triggered a series of shifting inconsitent explanations for ZANU PF’s shocking failure to honour the Tongogara family.
Michael Tongogara (a liberation war cadre) could not have died, Mr Didymus Mutasa told ZimEye as he dismissed the yet verified reports that Tongogara passed on and was, two weeks ago, buried in Mt Darwin’s Chesa area.
When asked by ZimEye why his party failed to attend the funeral despite Mr Michael Tongogara’s status as a liberation war, and a ZANU PF party icon since the 70s, Mr Mutasa dismissed the news widely reported last week.
He replied:
“Michael (ani?) Michael who?

Mutasa
Zimbabwe:Tongogara Did Not Die – Mutasa

“Ah, hatimbozivi kuti akafa ba isu – We do not know at all that Tongogara died.
“Hatimbozivi kuti akafa isu.
“Hazviite ka pachivanhu chedu kuti munhu ofa munhu momuregerera ….. – It cannot happen in our culture that we neglect a person after he has died.
“But ku Mt Darwin aienderei mukoma waTongogara? – But in Mt Darwin what had Tongo’s brother gone there to do?
“Handiti anogara ku Masvingo neku nhingirikini uku, kuSelukwe?…. Zvino varikuti akandoradzikwa kuMt Darwin kuna ani ko?
“So the story may just be fake really,” said Mr Mutasa.
Mutasa’s statement comes after ZANU PF’s spokesperson Rugare Gumbo also dismissed the same story saying he did not know at all that Mr Tongogara had passed on.
According to the Standard paper’s Jennifer Dube, Michael died a bitter man and he complained that Zanu PF and Tongo’s former comrades in arms had neglected the family left behind by the Zanla chief who died in a mysterious accident on December 26 1979, a few months before independence.
But the party is reported as having actually deliberately snubbed his burial and reports suggest that President Robert Mugabe’s group actually took an intentional stance ignoring the Tongogara family because of standing political grudges against them which date back to the 70s.
Michael Tongogara has lived in the Chesa area since the early 1980s when he was resettled there and until the time of his death, continued as a party loyale. Despite the party bosses stating that they do not know him, he however for several years featured in ZANU PF’s own media during several lenghty interviews for which he was largely regarded as a spokesman of the fami;y.

Paul Mkondo Dies

One of Zimbabwe’s most prominent property, insurance personality and businessman, Mr Paul Mkondo has died.  He was 68.
Mkondo died on Thursday afternoon at the Avenues Clinic after battling with cancer for  a brief period. The cancer had been diagnosed three weeks earlier.
Many Zimbabweans of the seventies and eighties generation will remember him for his radio commercials on life insurance. He broke the ground and set pace as one of the early Zimbabweans to make it into the insurance industry at a broader scale. His name became a household one through his entertaining and appealing insurance program, “Mari Nehupenyu Hwevanhu” which used to be aired on the then Radio 2 from 1970 to 1989.
“Hama itai cent cent, Kana usina mari hauna shamwari” ( Please contribute a penny a time because if you are broke, friends run away) were part of his commercial song of an early morning brief talk show that covered the advantages of having life insurance. The company that he worked for, Southampton did not disappoint either. Many working class people felt persuaded to buy insurance and the company grew in leaps and bounds.
Mkondo’s son Nhamo confirmed the death, adding that funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
At the time of his death he was the owner of PMA real Estate Agent, Paul Mkondo Insurance Brokers and Paul Mkondo Life Assurance. He was also the vice president of the Real Estate Council of Zimbabwe and the chairman of Danhiko project whose Patron is the First lady Amai Grace Mugabe. He is survived by two sons, two daughters and seven grand children.
Mr. Mkondo is survived by his wife and four children and mourners are gathered at Number 184 Marimba Park, in Harare.

Tsvangirai Top Advisor’s Driver Killed In Car Accident

HARARE: Prime Minister Tsvangirai’s new political advisor, Alex Magaisa’s personal driver died in a tragic car accident last week during the course of business.
Mr. Edmore Munyoro (36), adored and respected by many, lost his life in a car accident as he ran an errand by himself last week in Bhora.
At the time of writing, details were sketchy as Dr Alex Magaisa got busy with his schedule and funeral arrangements just after he announced the sad news on Wednesday.
It was also not clear exactly where the accident occurred, at the time of writing.

magaisa_eddie
RIP- Edmore Munyoro

The vehicle designated to Mr Magaisa had just been released from mechanical service where engine check-ups and fitness were performed. A surprise wheel problem developed after that service triggering the accident that killed Eddie Magaisa, current reports state.
Moments later, in a gripping encomium on his Facebook wall reflecting what could have been a mark of farewell moments with a close family member, Dr. Magaisa wrote, “As we drove to Bulawayo last week, Tuesday, Bla Eddie and I were reminiscing…talking about the good old days; little did we both know that we were reminding ourselves of the beautiful memories for the last time together. We spoke about one old song [by James Chimombe] we used to love, lyrics so apt with the benefit of hindsight: Vaitiona tiri tose vachandibvunza; ko mumwe aripiko? (Those who used to see us share lighter moments as a duet will question my loneliness in your absence). We laid him to rest yesterday. Blah Eddie … kundisiya ndiri ndega …(how could you leave me alone),” said Magaisa.
Eddie who was laid to rest on Wednesday, the very day he was supposed to turn 36 (May 1) has been described by Magaisa as, “a fine gentleman; a loyal man who stood by me through and through from the time we herded cattle together. He can never be replaced. He was not just my personal driver. He was everything.”

Zimbabwe: Struggling Indigenous Bank ‘in Massive Looting’

Harare:As Finance Minister Tendai Biti revealed in London this week that indigenisation is elitist transfer” of wealth which will not create any “new value”, an  indigenous bank, Capital (also known as Renaissance Merchant Bank) has experienced a massive looting spree that has seen the company awarding hefty financial packages to its senior bosses while yet simultaneously failing to meet its own customer obligations.Patterson-Timba
ZimEye can exclusively reveal that Capital Bank which was saved from curatorship barely a few months ago has embarked on a swindling splurge that stands to threaten the welfare of its vulnerable customers.  This series of exclusive articles comes after a winding three week investigation  into the activities of Capital Bank which have triggered many customers to consider taking legal action against the bank as revealed in the below report submitted to ZimEye.
The bank’s Managing Director, Mr Lawrence Tamawyi, has avoided responding to these reports claiming emails and telephone call messages never reached him for a whole three week period. But ZimEye can reveal that his secretary who spoke to this publication was forwarded emails which she confirmed receiving. Phone calls to Tamayi were also at other times abruptly cut before the MD had answered.” (Watch this space for Tamayi’s response.)
renaissance_capital_bankIn an unprecedented move that smacks of systematic looting, Capital Bank Corporation Limited (formerly ReNaissance Merchant Bank), which just escaped curatorship in March 2012, awarded astronomical salary increases to its management under the guise of ‘total cost’. Total cost is when a company grosses up all its perks offered to an employee and pays this out in the form of a single salary. Though noble if properly  implemented, what has raised a stink and suspicion that this could be looting are the hefty salaries, with rates as high as 1,000%.
Also, skeptics are questioning discrepancies observed even within the managers’ salaries. If this had been prudent, a normal distribution would have been observed in the bank’s salary structure. However, the lowest graded manager (Assistant Manager), now takes home US$2,200, (up from an average of $800.00); followed by Relationship Managers and Dealers, who take home an average of US$3,800, up from $1,000. The next level of management, according to the bank’s grading system are the Heads of Departments, who now pocket a whopping $7,300 per month, a rise from $1,200. This loop includes several managers namely the Regional Managers, Risk Manager, Human Resources Manager, I.T. Manager, Audit Manager, Trade Finance Manager and all other Departmental Managers.
Executive Directors now take home incredible salaries of an average of $8,500.00. The bank’s Managing Director, Lawrence Tamayi, takes home an unbelievable $23,000 per month. This is not bound to go down well with the Capital Bank’s depositors, who are still to be fully paid their funds locked up in the institution. A glance at the bank’s 2011 financials is further bound to cause anger as the bank recorded an operating loss of $13,000,000. Sources inside the bank have confided that even the bank’s capital base is dwindling by the day and there is no tangible programme in sight to meet the RBZ Capital requirements of $25 million by year end and subsequently $100 million by 2014. NSSA, the bank’s major shareholder has been reluctant to pour in funds into the stricken institution, perhaps avoiding further exposure into the stricken institution. NSSA, the country’s statutory social security authority, has always insisted that the bank recovers all borrowed loans, whose recovery has been very slow due to the fact that the bank has over 98% of its loan book classified as non-performing (meaning that chances of recovering the bank’s loans in the medium term are minimal).
Sources revealed that the bank still has to attract meaningful business especially since most of its clients are still skeptical after the curatorship debacle. The only meaningful deposits the bank is currently getting are from its major shareholder, NSSA, who support the bank in the form of transitory deposits on a regular basis. This has led to suspicions and potential furor from pensioners whose ire is driven by the fact that their funds are being disproportionately used to support the bank and therefore being ultimately siphoned off through exorbitant salaries and perks for management.
What is bound to cause further consternation is the fact that the same management has distributed the bank’s only tangible assets, its vehicle fleet, among themselves. This has seen the bank’s treasurer getting a latest Range Rover Discovery (2010 Model) for a paltry $25,000, which will be deducted from his monthly salary of $8,000 over 5 years. This translates to a measly repayment of $416.67 per month, which is only a drop in the ocean on his gargantuan salary. Managers got 2011 Isuzu Double Cab KB’s for $18,000, compared to market values in excess of $30,000, whilst the low ranking Assistant Managers were awarded Mazda 3 Series for a measly $11,320. The market value of a Mazda 3 at Willowvale Motors is about $25,000. Under this arrangement, the managers are allowed to sell their vehicles at the going market values, thus giving them windfalls. This would inconvenience depositors and other stakeholders in the event of liquidation as the bank has no other viable tangible assets.
A bank official who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of victimization confirmed these developments, and further confirmed that staff morale among non-managers is at an all-time low and contrary to press statements from the bank’s Managing Director, service delivery has gone down. The bank has also suspended all lending and is experiencing a serious liquidity crisis as shown by the clogged RTGS position. This comes in the wake of a farcical re-branding exercise which saw the bank changing its name from Renaissance Merchant Bank to Capital Bank Corporation. Observers have concluded that the exercise was meant to placate depositors and divert attention to the ensuing looting spree. They have also questioned the role of the RBZ Surveillance Division in not timely detecting and stopping these shenanigans.
At the time of printing, Capital Bank’s capital had dwindled to $9,540,747, down from $21,700,000 after curatorship in April 2012. More will be revealed as events unravel. (Watch this space for Tamayi’s response.)

Shock as Death-Threat Charged Muchauraya’s House Is ‘Attacked’

A shocking report has been submitted by the MDC-T in Manicaland stating that the party’s spokesman for the province, Pishai Muchauraya’s house was attacked and ‘destroyed’ last night. Muchauraya is currently facing charges of allegedly threatening kill aspiring legislator Geoff Nyarota.
We have re-published the report as it is in its unedited form.
Below is the report with photographs submitted to ZimEye Thursday afternoon:
18 window panes for Hon Pishai Muchauraya’s house in ward 26, Makoni South were last night destroyed by unidentified people who are still at large for unknown reasons.
A police report has already been made to Nyazura police station and the RRB Number is 1610645.
Peter Chituriro, ward 26 secretary who stays at the house fled for his life semi naked, wearing only his undergarments, at midnight when he heard some people strongly hammering the house with hard things, suspectedly stones.

“It was around midnight when I suddenly heard some people hammering the wall so hard that I sensed danger and quickly woke up. Upon opening the door I realised scores of people had already surrounded the house and I quickly ran away. One of them chased me but could not catch up with me,” he said.
Upon return, few hours later, in company of several other neighbouring villagers, he discovered that all the window panes amounting to 18 had been destroyed. It was clear, that the window panes were stoned as several stones were found in and around the house.
He said he is convinced that these people are not strangers and their intention was simply to destroy and not to loot or steal anything.
“When I fled, I left the door wide open and my phone on the bed but nothing was stolen. That’s a clear indication that these people’s intention was not to steal but to simply destroy. These are purely acts of an enemy,” he said.
In a statement, Hon Muchauraya said he is not intimidated by vain efforts of Nyarota to outwit him in the upcoming party primary elections for Makoni South parliamentary seat.
“I am not intimidated by these barbaric acts of cowards. I will not give room to Zanu pf and any other enemy,” he said.
The district organising secretary said this is purely not about MDC anymore.
“We have a rally tomorrow at Gwangwadza, in this very same area and already posters put around Nyarota’s business centre have been torn off. This is purely not about contesting or MDC anymore. Ever since the formation of the party, we have never witnessed this, not even from Zanu pf. We used to host our rallies but not even one day did Zanu pf tear off our posters. This all started after aspiring applicants submitted their CV’s to contest against Hon Muchauraya,” he said.
No arrests have been made and investigations are currently underway.
This follows Hon Muchauraya’s appearance in court yesterday at Rotten Row Magistrate court in Harare, over alleged death threats charges against Nyarota.
The trial however kicked off on Tuesday and is expected to continue again next week, after the case was remanded to 30 April 2013.
Hon Muchaurya, who is out on $100 bail, is also accused of threatening to kill Nyarota’s aunt Sophia Chibayambuya, who took to the stand as the state’s first witness. Hon Muchauraya denies both charges.
Hon Muchauraya and Nyarota are expected to square off in the party primaries for the Makoni South constituency that are to be held sometime next month.
The state has lined up three witnesses. Nyarota is expected to testify next week on Tuesday.
In his sworn affidavit to the police, Nyarota said that on February 28th he received death threats from a caller who was using a private number. Nyarota said he “recognised” the voice of Muchauraya.
The case took a twist on Wednesday, when police charged him again with the murder of the late parliamentarian, John Nyamande.
The police admitted they don’t have any evidence linking Muchauraya to the death of Nyamande but told him they will proceed with the case by way of summons.
Muchauraya, the MDC-T spokesman for Manicaland province was however made to sign a warned and cautioned statement at the Harare central police station on Wednesday.
The man he is accused of killing, Nyamande was the MDC-T MP for Makoni Central, who died in a horrific car crash in November 2009 near Ruwa that left his Isuzu KB vehicle a mangled wreck.
The 57 year-old Nyamande was killed instantly when his car collided with a stationary truck that was partially parked off the Harare-Marondera highway.
After the crash, police who attended the scene of the accident told Nyamande’s best friend, Hebson Makuvise (Zimbabwe’s current ambassador to Germany) that the MP died after suffering multiple broken bones as well as severe head and chest injuries.
MDC strongly condemns such barbaric acts that are meant only to divide the party ahead of the general elections scheduled for late this year.

No Evidence of Chinamasa London Violence

Four weeks after reports claimed that Zimbabwe’s Justice Minister Patrick Chinamasa ‘brought violence to London’, investigations into the alleged act have found that there was no such violence apart from a possible verbal exchange during a conversation, if any such exist.
It was claimed by the London based SW Radio Africa that Chinamasa physically lunged at the MP for Vauxhaul, Kate Hoey an incident the radio website also claimed was a ‘fight’. In the article titled: ‘Chinamasa brings ZANU PF ‘violence’ to London’, the radio station’s reporter said “Nobody knows exactly what triggered the fight, but sources told SW Radio Africa that the incident happened as soon as Hoey went over to greet Chinamasa.” The story was subsequently republished by the weekly Standard paper which carried the screaming headline: “Chinamasa in near fist fight in the UK.”

Controversial UK MP Kate Hoey

It was claimed that Chinamasa was separated by ambassador Gabriel Machinga from hurting Hoey.
But ambassador Machinga has said no such thing happened, “I did not have the labour of separating the two because there was no incident where I met both of them at once. I met Kate after she had already greeted Chinamasa. When they exchanged their greetings I was not there. If such an incident occurred Kate would have told me, and Chinamasa would done the same.”
Furthermore when ZimEye contacted Kate Hoey herself, she refused to comment any further only replying with the below written response.
She had been asked:
“Our reporters have been trying to reach you since last week to inquire on the alleged incident to do with Zimbabwe’s Justice Minister Patrick Chinamasa. It is reported that Mr Chinamasa attempted to assault you on Monday last week. We would like to report on this incident seeing there have been ifferent unclear reports on it.”
Below is all that Kate Hoey said when she was asked to comment on the alleged incident.
I really have nothing more to say on this. In the scale of the intimidation and violence being perpetrated on ordinary Zimbabweans by Zanu PF thugs, Chinamasa’s belligerent behaviour in a public place would be seen as mild ! The fact that he reacted so angrily when I mentioned Beatrice Metatwa’s arrest maybe shows how he realises he is out of kilter with international opinion. I was not surprised at his behaviour. It is entirely in keeping with what I would expect of ZANU PF – Kate.
In the event that this incident really took place, it is believed CCTV footage would have been released seeing the severity of the alleged behaviour. Great Britan has the most CCTV devices in the world with over 4.2 million cameras. This would be if the room had cameras which is highly likely as ZimEye has been told the meeting actually occured in a cocktail bar. Most of the UK’s bars have fitted active CCTV devices, a common police requirement for safety and vitual policing.
Meanwhile Hoey has remained controversial after she a few months ago ignited feelings of repulsion for Rhodesian injustice when she called for the UK government to recognise the Viscount 1979 bombings by ZIPRA, a motion she raised in parliament before millions of Zimbabweans moved to condemen her actions.

Zim Achievers Awards – IN PICTURES

A crowd of close to 500 Zimbabweans and other nationals converged on the prestigious Millenium Gloucester Hotel on Saturday for the Zim Achievers Awards which saw many nationals receive international recognition for their achievements.
The function was graced by Zimbabwe’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mr Gabriel Machinga (photo 7 – 13) and various other high profile dignitaries including Barclays Zimbabwe boss, George Guvamatanga.

“Go Eat Sadza at Home”, Says Zim Achievers Awards Boss

Many attendants at the just-ended Zim Achievers Awards in London on Saturday took umbrage at the British meals served there saying they rather preferred traditional Zimbabwe menus to the soft European sandwiches and related delicacies. Such concerns attracted a backlash from the ZAA’s Chief Executive of the function who responded with a diatribe prescribing the disgruntled to “go home and eat all the sadza they want”.
Among those who complained was one of the United Kingdom’s top medical experts, Dr Ted Nyatanga, a loyal fan of the Zim Achievers Awards function for several years, who forwarding his suggestions hinted that in future, the function could be improved through diverse African foods served on the menu.
“It would be great to have traditional foods because we are Zimbabweans. Why shouldn’t we have Zimbabwean dishes like sadza on the menu?,” he asked.
Some people also stated that attendants should have been given the opportunity to choose what they wanted to eat.
Another woman who preferred anonymity but only after emotionally offloading her discontent, protested, “If you’re catering for African people, you must be mindful of their eating habits and preferences. Kundipa mashizha inini, haazivi kuti ndiri Shumba here ini? – How can he feed me with tree leaves(vegetables). Doesn’t he know that I belong to the meat-loving lion totem?,” she stated.
“Because you are selling everything Zimbabwean to the British community, food should also be part of the package. The only aspect they tried best was the singing of the national anthem,” she added.
Another elderly woman sitting at the entrance also shouted saying sadza would have been better. “This is all dry roasted unflavoured plain chicken with a few drops of sauce on the side, half a strawberry and cream with a teaspoon of spinach, and we call it a special function? What a joke,” she protested.

“That’s why its prestigious”
The various requests however attracted equal heat from the ZAA boss, Conrad Mwanza who said that the function was a prestigious once in year do that came with classic foods to meet diverse community needs. Any person requiring sadza was free to dash home and have it.
“No you know how I will answer that (sic)Even on a national basis, we eat sadza at home. So you can have sadza at home and then come here and have something different once in a while.” He added:
“That’s why it’s prestigious. Some people say we have it at home. So I am saying look let’s do something different, you know; once in a year. Let’s appease ourselves to a service. If you want to have sadza go home and eat all you want. But once in a while let’s taste our host’s food”
Several hundreds of people thronged the ZAA annual function at the Gloucester Hotel in central London on Saturday and the function’s conference centre was swarmed with Zimbabweans from various walks of life. Others even came from as far as Zimbabwe, Madagascar, South Africa and the United States.

Tsvangirai Hopes of an MDC Coalition-Against Mugabe Squashed

Hopes by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and his party to engage and create a united coalition with professor Welshman Ncube against Robert Mugabe before the upcoming elections have been shattered.
This comes after it was revealed MDC-T claims that there have been talks in progress for the objective, are false and have neither substance nor basis.
It was last week upheld that Tsvangirai and his party are likely to be just desperate for a coalition with Professor Welshman Ncube.
This came after Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai landed in the United Kingdom last week, and key MDC-T members on micro blogging website Twitter began circulating claims that there were talks in progress and there would now be a united front against Robert Mugabe in the upcoming national elections. A top MDC-T blogger, named as ‘Benjamin Chitate’ on the sidelines of events also took to the networks to attack Professor Welshman Ncube claiming that he was “the stumbling block to any efforts to unite the two parties…”
But Professor Welshman Ncube has since dismissed the claims by Tsvangirai’s men as completely false. His deputy spokesman, Kurauone Chihwayi told ZimEye on Thursday there have been no talks with Tsvangirai’s party since 2008.
“I can safely tell you that no talks are taking place and none of us is secretly or publicly talking to MDC-T. The talks died in 2008 and they are still dead. We have our life and they have their own;

Ncube
Complete falsehods by Tsvangirai's party...Welshman Ncube

“We have nothing in common. We are not desperate for Tsvangirai. No talks at all, formal or informal.”
This is not the first time rumours have been randomly ignited in Tsvangirai’s party claiming Ncube Is engaging in talks with them.
It also comes at a time when several other analysts speculated that Ncube should join Tsvangirai in order to effectively remove Mugabe. One analyst Pedzisai Ruhanya wrote an article claiming: “Tsvangirai-Ncube coalition will bury Mugabe.”
“Professor Welshman Ncube particularly and other democratic forces in general could critically determine whether or not Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai emerges victorious in Zimbabwe’s forthcoming watershed polls,” wrote Ruhanya
Zimbabwe is due to hold elections sometime after May and analysts have said the country is likely heading towards another government of national unity which might see Tsvangirai wielding a lesser role than he is at present following credibility losses.

Harare Woman Kombi Death: Police Wanted To Smash Windscreen

The horrific incident in which a woman was run over and killed by a kombi driver at Harare’s Copacabana terminus on Wednesday occured merely because the named police officer had moved to smash the driver’s windscreen, witnesses have said.
The accident which was clearly avoidable saw masses in the Copacabana area flooding the terminus area to attack and punish the cop who was only saved by a passing soldier, witnesses have told ZimEye.  More on this story- Harare Woman Killed By a Speeding Kombi at Terminus

Police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza has confirmed the accident but said the commuter omnibus hit the woman and then fled from the scene before he was apprehended.

Sex Scandal: Shamed Minister Gutu Seeks Bible Empathy

The matter involving PM Morgan Tsvangirai’s designate to the ministry of Justice, Obert Gutu who recently threatened to murder a woman he had earlier promised to assist  has taken a twist with him seeking help from the heavens.
Gutu who recently admitted threatening to kill a woman he had promised a government scholarship facility, hinted he was seeking God’s help.
“I consider this matter closed.I am neither vindictive nor vengeful. I have done nothing wrong and I put my fate in the Almighty God,” he said in a message to one of our editors.
In the interview in which he was further exposed last Wednesday morning, Gutu sounded desultory before a ZimEye editor as he mentioned that he was  submitting stories to this publication without charging a penny, a deflective statement mentioned in the heat of pressing issues before him. The interview ended up stretching more than 15 minutes as the deputy Justice Minister continued to dilute the theme of the conversation.
Gutu who has been involved in an extra marital affair with the woman, has now begun claiming that he is being politically victimised and the agenda is meant to even tarnish the image of his MDC-T party. He even claimed that the allegations labeled against him were the clandestine work of the intelligence agents. ZimEye will in the coming few days disclose more revelations on the minister’s questionable conduct as a public office bearer.

EXCLUSIVE: Tsvangirai Minister Obert Gutu’s Death Threats, Sex Scandal

In this exclusive sequel, ZimEye reveals the death threats issued by Zimbabwe’s deputy minister of Justice, Obert Chaurura Gutu on a woman (name withheld) he took advantage of and obtained sexual gratification from after promising her government funds as scholarship for tertiary education.
Two of the death threats’ full text received last Wednesday read:
“You destroy me, consider yourself DEAD! And I am damn serious!                                                         (0747Hours Wednesday)
If I don’t get you, I wl get your mom and your kids! I am an orphan and I don’t fear death! ”      (
0751Hours Wednesday)
Another message received from Minister Gutu’s phone at 0852Hrs on the same day reads:
“I know where you mom& kids stay! I am not as nice as I may look!’
Following a report on the death threats issued last week Minister Gutu has begun claiming that this matter is not true and is only a political smear campaign against him and his MDC-T party. He has simultaneously embarked on an unjustified Facebook response personally directed against an Editor of this publication.
This latest development seems bizarre as analyzed from the mixed responses and reactions by the Minister regarding the issue, moreso given the exact verbatim of the threats as associated with the Minister’s personal mobile phone number that ZimEye called back to check and verify the owner who emerged as the Minister answering the phone. Once the phone was confirmed, the Minister was initially speechless and tried hard to distance himself from the threats but the link was so bold and obvious that a denial was simply absurd and unreasonable.
Speaking to ZimEye last week, the Minister stated that he had to issue the threats because the lady was trying to extort money from her during the affair. Such an explanation sounded remote and far-fetched given the reasoning capacity and professional calling of the Justice Minister, leaving the broken affair as the most probable reason for the animosity. Resultantly, the latest outburst has escalated the issue into greater heights as a trigger has been created to expose the basis of the threats by the Minister.

Threatening death...Obert Gutu

Instead of the Minister apologizing for the threats that have been confirmed through his mobile phone number text message, he has assumed an accusatory role to silence ZimEye, hence adding more insult to the violated lady and starting an unnecessary fight with ZimEye. Such misconduct has generally been interpreted by the ZimEye Editorial team as resembling a blatant attempt to cover up the unbecoming behavior by a supposedly respectable politician who is a lawyer, a father, a married man and a Minister of Justice. Many would wonder why a Minister of Justice who is married would bear such wild prurience and also behave like a street thug, issuing such unsettling and outrageous death threats to a defenseless lady that he dated under a false pretense to bring her scholarships.
In fear of further potential reports, the Minister has now embarked on a ridiculous damage-control mode. He has started slapdash and unfounded accusations through which he has labeled one of the ZimEye Editors an agent on a mission to destroy the MDC. To quote the exact verbatim, the Minister has written back through Facebook,
“…I will never admit to doing something that I didn’t do. More particularly, I will not apologize to you or anyone else for that matter. You can proceed with your malicious and slanderous campaign against me but then one thing is clear, you will NEVER succeed to destroy both myself as an individual and the MDC as an institution. My investigations have proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that you have a very strong connection with certain political and intelligence organs that are determined to tarnish the image of the MDC led by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai.”
The words follow his earlier message after the death threats were broached by ZimEye. Having been caught red-handed through the text message generated from his mobile phone, the Minister gave a weak response using the words,
“I consider this matter closed. I am neither vindictive nor vengeful. I have done nothing wrong and I put my fate in the Almighty God.”
With that weak defense, the facts remain clear as follows: The Minister, dated a lady and promised her scholarships that he never delivered. He issued threats after sexually taking advantage of a lady who hinted on plans to make a public outcry over the abuse. As we write, the named lady has had her phone line inundated with threatening calls just to bug and scare her following the first report by ZimEye. In light of all facts pointing to the Minister’s unbecoming conduct, his only scapegoat now has been to embark on a smear campaign against ZimEye. This paper reported the facts as reported and used the confirmed text message that threatened the complainant. Many will recall that this Deputy Minister of Justice has in the past written extensively through online publications pointing fingers at corrupt officials and the need for social justice and equity in wealth distribution. This is the very man looked unto for hope and guidance by many as a Minister of Justice. Now that he has been caught on the wrong side of the law, he decides to switch on a smear campaign. The truth remains that, he corruptly dated a lady when he was married. He promised scholarships that he never delivered. He sexually took advantage of this lady who opened up to him hoping to get the scholarships. With that he raises extortion as a lame defense instead of apologizing to the unfortunate lady who now lives in fear because the Minister has the potential to even hire thugs in crime-infested South Africa to harm the lady since he knows her whereabouts.
The conclusion is that Minister Gutu, and not ZimEye, is the one tarnishing the image of the MDC-T because he has failed to live to the “party of excellence” mantra. He can’t publicly misbehave and blame the complainant and the media. Our duty as ZimEye is to report social injustice, development, progress and any news of interest so that Zimbabwe remains seized with news on developmental issues affecting her. We report facts and will never campaign for any political party because we are independent, neither are we sponsored by an political outfit. Among the Zimbabwean political players, whoever is found on the wrong side of history or ethics will be truthfully exposed because these figures as leaders remain publicly-accountable to Zimbabwean masses. Minister Gutu is not an exception in this case. Our statement is simple: Mr. Gutu together with all others who breach ethics using political tickets and platforms will not be handled with velvet gloves by the media once they flout ethics. As a politician and a public figure, it’s either one reforms or perishes with a self-made concoction.

On Land Distribution Justice System Is Colour Sensitive – Chinamasa

Click to watch full interview: BBC
Zimbabwe’s Justice Minister, Patrick Chinamasa, has defended the country’s land re-distribution program and confessed ignorance on the amount of land President Robert Mugabe and wife Grace currently own.

Patrick Chinamasa Justice Minister on BBC HARDtalk

Speaking on BBC’s HARDtalk on April 4 the Justice Minister said that land re-distribution program is not complete yet and the acquired land is earmarked for indigenous blacks only and not ‘indigenous whites’ as it is colour sensitive.
BBC HARDtalk presenter Allan Sukur pressed the Justice minister on the issue of land being distributed on  racial lines and failing to recognize whites as Zimbabwean people but the Justice minister unequivocally stressed that indigenous applied to blacks only and that land redistribution is a necessity that has to be completed on racial lines to put right a previous racial injustice in the distributing of land.
Minister Chinamasa said when it comes to land redistribution the notion that “justice is colour blind” does not apply .
“When it comes to the question of land, as you know ownership was racial for over a century and blacks were not allowed to own land. It was racial skewed to whites and in attacking the land question you would be perceived as attacking race,”said Chinamasa.
Chinamasa who defended the land program and his position as a benefactor of an 800 Hectare farm grabbed from Richard Yates, a white farmer, who now lives in Australia, failed to give detail on the number of farms owned by Mugabe and Grace despite a government call on restricting multiple farm ownership. Chinamasa himself admitted to owning 600Hectares.
When asked if he agreed with war veterans leader Jabulani Sibanda’s statement ‘that it is illogical for individuals in my country to own excessive amounts of land’, Chinamasa said, ‘Yes, I agree’. When asked how much land president Mugabe and his wife and family owned, the honourable minister replied, “To be honest I don’t know, but…..but… for most of the land that he occupies ..for instance they are running foundations for children.”
It  was revealed that Robert Mugabe owns 16,000hectares of land. The minister was caught defenseless and when it was put to him that a few individuals have managed to amass huge tracts of land he accused the British of not questioning a similar status quo when the land was in the hands of a few whites.
“Listen you were not complaining in those years when 15 million (hectares) was owned by those 4 000 whites,” said the defenseless and pointless minister  as he failed to justify the excess land owned by President Mugabe and his inner circle. Mr Chinamasa revealed that 11million hectares was acquired for land redistribution. Allan Sukur pointed out that of this 11million hectares, close to 6million hectares is owned by just 2000 individuals aligned to Zanu-PF.
Chinamasa accused Britain of deliberately twisting a genuine land disagreement  between the two countries into a human rights abuses issue to tarnish the image of Zimbabwe into to pursue and effect a “regime change agenda” in Zimbabwe.
“Basically our quarrel with the British was on land issue, but they mis-characterised it as human rights violation in order to give us a bad name,”said Chinamasa.

Top MDC-T Minister Issues Death Threats on Woman

A top Morgan Tsvangirai minister who presides over the Justice Ministry, Obert Chaurura Gutu, has issued death threats on a woman, ZimEye can reveal in a damning expose that further threatens the integrity of the MDC-T party as a true democracy movement.
A launched report in possession of  ZimEye by a certain lady from Zimbabwe, (name withheld) has revealed not only shocking but also embarrassing conduct by  the Zimbabwe Deputy Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, Gutu who has threatened the woman with “unspecified consequences” in the event that she lets out the information regarding their alleged affair to the public.
Per text messages shown to ZimEye, the Minister’s words were harsh and spoke of brute violence, that may have been meant to instil fear and discomfort in the young lady. The woman speaking to ZimEye on Wednesday expressed fear that her mother may be killed by the top politician.
“Can he really hurt my family?,” she asked ZimEye editors this morning(Wednesday) almost in tears.
For the woman’s safety and dignity, ZimEye has requested the minister to keep her identity private, failure which relevant laws may be used against him.

Denial then acceptance.. Obert Gutu

When contacted by ZimEye, the not so honourable Senator Gutu who is  a lawyer by profession, at first attempted a denial of having issued the death threats, but would within the same conversation later confess doing the highly detestable thing. (Watch this space for the full expose).
Per report launched with ZimEye, Gutu who is a former ZimEye columnist issued the death threats in which he said that he will make sure that something really bad happens either to the girlfriend and in case the Minister’s hired boys (presumed) fail to get hold of the girlfriend, then he will make sure he assigns the same henchmen(presumed) to go for the girlfriend’s immediate family members to perform  acts of retribution.
He indicated that the horror, pain and suffering to be visited on the girlfriend’s family members should be bad enough to bring enough and lasting misery and suffering to the girlfriend and her family members.
Such a scandal emerges in the dying heat of the Minister’s boss PM Tsvangirai who in the last two years has faced embarrassing allegations and public complaints against him due to his sexual affair habits on rare prurient interests that led him to father a number of women who later emerged with claims for child support. Such conduct has led Professor Jonathan Moyo to describe the PM as a man who thinks with his zip.

COMMENTARY:
The Gutu scandal also shoots the MDC-T in the foot in that this is the very political party that masquerades as the party of excellence and has been famous for listing the wrongs in ZANU PF through an array of allegations from corruption to immorality. In the past Minister Gutu has written extensively in the media preaching justice and equal opportunity, free speech and human rights. He has demonstrated so much enthusiasm in his dream for Africa where he hopes for respect of humanity and equality in wealth enjoyment. Such emerging allegations, if proven to be true, could establish the biggest case of hypocrisy in Zimbabwe after independence in 1980. This is also the very time when many in his MDC-T have had a good appetite to label ZANU PF leaders as a corrupt bunch whose senior ministers’ names dominated the divorce registry at the High Court of Zimbabwe last year as they went for younger wives. With such allegations on the door steps of Minister Gutu whose camp has been playing the role of ‘Saints’, that means there is a lot going on behind the scenes in Zimbabwe.

Chisumbanje MDC-T Supporters Attacked

Several MDC-T supporters have been assaulted in the past few days since last week Monday, ZimEye has been told.
The below latest photos display a few of these men and women after they were attacked by suspected ZANU PF supporters just outside Chisumbanje.

Manicaland MP Pishai Muchauraya told ZimEye they were being treated at Rusape General hospital on Saturday.
