Billiat Saves Day For Warriors

ZIMBABWE came within five minutes of kissing goodbye to the 2022 World Cup but Khama Billiat’s late strike averted a huge embarrassment for the Warriors yesterday.

The hosts rallied back to beat minnows, Somalia, in a nerve-wrecking second leg of the preliminary round qualifiers at the National Sports Stadium.

The Warriors, who suffered a shock 0-1 defeat in the first leg last week, faced certain elimination from the global football showcase until the 77th minute when Marshal Munetsi broke the deadlock with an overhead kick.

Interestingly, the France-based midfielder was about to be taken out when he scored the goal after playing with a stomach bug.

But a moment of horror almost scuppered Zimbabwe’s chances when Somalia forward Omah Abdullah Mohamed took advantage of a defensive error by Teenage Hadebe to level the scores.

The away goal meant Zimbabwe needed to score two more goals in the last five minutes and, considering the way they had toiled the whole afternoon, it appeared a tall order.
However, substitute Knox Mtizwa emerged as the hero.

The Golden Arrows man gave Zimbabwe the fighting chance when he buried a free-kick in the 88th minute before setting up Billiat, whose rising shot gave the ‘keeper Said Alweys Ali no chance.State media

Nobody Can Stop US From Attending Mugabe Burial -Matemadanda

Farai Dziva|Zanu PF Political Commissar Victor Matemadanda has declared that former President Robert Mugabe’s family members are too small to decide the “veteran” nationalist’s burial place.

See Matemadanda’s statement :

If the family members decided to ban me kuenda kuFuneral then it means they did not learn what this country is all about.

I am going to be there where they like it or not. If not to mourn Mugabe but to support my President. This is a national hero, and no clan or province can bar the ruling party from attending rufu. Haisi wedding ka iyi.

They are targeting me because they are afraid to target munhu wavanoda, ED.

Robert Mugabe Was Obsessed With Power

Robert Mugabe was a political thug.

He was obsessed with power. He viewed his political competitors as enemies. In Zanu he eliminated all those who who opposed to him.He used the CIO to deal with his perceived enemies. Just after independence Nkomo was labelled a state enemy.

Guns were planted in Zapu farms later on displayed as evidence on national television .He out-manoeuvred his enemies. I still believe Bob was a communist .

During his tenure the CIO was turned into Mugabe’s private army. They could kill people or make them disappear. Dzamara’s bones cannot be located even today.

He used tribalism to his advantage . He elevated his Shona brothers to strong positions.

Matebeleland was portrayed in bad light.

The majority of people in this region supported Nkomo. Even today this place is underdeveloped.

Well we forgive Mugabe. He is going to meet his creator who is going to judge him.-Concerned son of the soil

Mugabe Burial Postponed

Speaking to ZimEye Tuesday morning, Leo Mugabe said the burial of Robert Mugabe is no longer on Sunday.

Responding to questions, Leo said the 95 year old will be buried any day after next Sunday.

Latest information also indicates that Emmerson Mnangagwa is banned from seeing his late boss’ body. On Tuesday morning it emerged, the 95 year old will get a secret burial.

The Mugabe family will secretly fly the former President’s body into Zimbabwe and drive him straight to Zvimba out of the public eye and the world only discover about it a month later, his nephew, Leo has revealed.

The former ZIFA boss claimed this was Shona culture.

He said…” ask the elders the Zvimba if you come from that place.

Ask any sabhuku or anybody that when a chief dies, what happens. You know they will tell you. You probably won’t even know that a chief has died.

“And has already been buried by the time they announce it, they will have buried him about a month ago or something like that. Those are our customs, you know let’s respect our own culture, and teach the world that Zimbabwe is culturally rich.”

MDC Statement On Postponement Of 20th Anniversary Celebrations

The MDC was due to hold its 20th Anniversary on Saturday at Rufaro Stadium, Harare, as the day for the National Memorial Service for the late President Robert Mugabe.

As MDC, being a pan Africanist and social democratic party, consistent with our values of ubuntu, solidarity and empathy we have decided to postpone our 20th Anniversary Celebrations to the 28th September 2019 so as to allow the funeral proceedings and events not to compete with our Anniversary celebrations. This is in line with our values of ubuntu, solidarity and empathetic leadership.

We had our differences, which are well documented and recorded, with the late President Mugabe, but this is not the time to rehash those differences. This is the time to join the former President’s relatives and friends in mourning.

In order to give peace a chance and allow for nation building in the context of tolerance and human dignity, we continue to deploy our might and main to things that unite us than those that may divide us.

The MDC does not make profit out of tragedies. For that reason, the party would not use Mugabe’s death to score political points. We have sufficient avenues and platforms to address the huge challenges facing the motherland outside funerals.

As a Pan Africanist and Social Democratic Party, we don’t take our differences with our political adversaries to the grave. Hurt and hatred is not part of our agenda.

The passing on of former President Mugabe should remind leaders of today, tomorrow and the future on how we must treat each other as Zimbabweans. The position we take today is not to wish away issues of transitional justice to do with past injustice but to exhibit that as the MDC our role is to heal, unite and bring freedom and justice to every Zimbabwean.

To all Zimbabweans, this is an opportunity to reflect on values of nation building, national healing, democracy, tolerance, justice, equality, freedom and solidarity that are central to our democratic struggle.

Let us take this moment to build upon the positives of the past and negate its negatives to build a better nation and a better future. We must correct past mistakes and right the wrongs. We must learn from the omissions and commissions of the past.

Villagers In Nasty Row Over Mugabe Death Bet

Ghanaians Had A Special Affection For Mugabe Their Son In Law.

Ghanaians saw Mugabe as their in-law

Former BBC journalist and later Ghana government minister Elizabeth Ohene writes that Zimbabwe’s ex-President Robert Mugabe, who has died aged 95, had a special place in the hearts of Ghanaians.

We in Ghana called Robert Mugabe our in-law. It was in Ghana that he met his first wife, Sarah Francesca Hayfron. He married her in 1961, and she became known as Sally Mugabe.

She was one half of a set of female twins and she was teaching in Takoradi city in Ghana’s Western Region when Mr Mugabe met and fell in love with her.

Ghana had achieved its independence from the UK in 1957, and Mr Mugabe had come to “to find himself” and experience the dream of an independent African state.

The unofficial story was that he had received training on how to wage the struggle for independence in what was then Rhodesia.

Those were heady days in the newly independent Ghana and the Hayfron family was educated, political, well-connected and part of high society.

The father was a well-trained horticulturist and his home was famous for well designed gardens.

Sarah Francesca Hayfron was certainly quite a catch for the then unknown and struggling Robert Mugabe.

As it turned out, his new wife turned out to be a veritable political partner and activist, when he took her back to his home country.

Mugabe’s extra-marital affair

The story of the couple’s struggles in Rhodesia – including their incarceration – have become the stuff of legend.

In the midst of it all, and when Mr Mugabe was in prison, their son, Nhamodzenyika, died of malaria in Ghana.

This was to have far reaching consequences because by the time husband and wife were together again, they could not have another child.

In 1987, Mr Mugabe started an affair with his secretary, Grace Marufu, 41 years his junior, because, according to him, he felt he had to provide grandchildren for his mother. It was not because of his desires.

Sally stayed by her man, continuing as a political activist and earning the well-deserved title of Amai, or Mother, by the time Mr Mugabe became prime minister in 1980, and First Lady when he became president in 1987.

We in Ghana felt we had a special status in newly independent Zimbabwe and it was suddenly the place to go.

The 1980s were not good times in Ghana and many top professionals – including medical doctors, university professors, and judges – went to live and work in Zimbabwe.

We in Ghana silently cheered Sally’s firm but tender hold on her husband.

They were anxious for Zimbabwe to learn the lessons from Ghana, and other African countries, which had attained independence earlier and were struggling politically and economically.

They admired the orderliness of the Zimbabwean towns and cities, and their hosts admired their self-confidence.

But on a reporting trip to Zimbabwe in 1987, I found that many of the Ghanaians were expressing anxieties about Mr Mugabe’s decision to transform his position from prime minister to president. They said they feared for Zimbabwe’s future.

Zimbabweans were welcoming to Ghanaians and I remember arriving at the main airport in the capital, Harare – now known as the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport – and the immigration officer smiling when he saw my Ghanaian passport and saying: “Welcome, our in-law.”

By the beginning of the 1990s, some tensions were surfacing as the emerging Zimbabwean black middle class began to resent the presence of Ghanaian professionals.

But the respected in-law position remained. Indeed, Zimbabwe granted Ghanaians visa-free entry, and the arrangement still exists.

We in Ghana silently cheered Sally’s firm but tender hold on her husband and it was widely felt that she was his moral anchor, who kept him on the straight and narrow.

Sally’s death in January 1992 was felt keenly in Ghana and a large delegation went to her funeral in Harare.

Our son-in-law looked bereft and he gave a most touching and powerful eulogy at the burial ceremony.

Once Grace was installed as the new Mrs Mugabe in 1996, we knew our status had changed.

Many of the Ghanaians left, hardly any new ones went and Zimbabwe disappeared from the destination map of the ever-footloose Ghanaian.

‘Unsentimental and unforgiving’

In 2017, one of the last surviving members of the group of Ghanaian émigrés – Roger Korsah, a retired judge of the Supreme Court – died, almost bringing down the curtain on that chapter.

But Zimbabwe continued to have a special place in the hearts of Ghanaians.

We can never be as rude about Zimbabwe as we can be about other countries, and when we hear of its political and economic difficulties, the feeling is one of dismay and bewilderment.

In Ghana, your in-law is your in-law, and deserves respect, no matter what happens.

I have to admit though that the last time Mr Mugabe came to Ghana, to attend our 60th independence anniversary on 6 March 2017, the younger generation was only interested in poking fun at him for seeming to fall asleep during the ceremony.

It was, sadly, a different Robert Mugabe from the man who had married our Sally; now at 90-something and into his 37th year as leader of Zimbabwe, young Ghanaians on social media were unsentimental and unforgiving.

Now that he is gone, we will have to go and perform the necessary rites at the funeral; he was our son-in-law, and that cannot change.

SABC Fires Staff For Embarrassing And Sabotaging Ramaphosa

SABC

IoL|The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has suspended three permanent employees and unscheduled one freelancer following evidence showing that President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recent speech to the nation was “sabotaged”.

The incident occurred on Thursday evening last week, when the SABC news channel aired an incorrect clip of Ramaphosa’s pre-recorded address to the nation on The Full View programme.

The SABC’s preliminary investigation into the incident has revealed that material for the 6pm broadcast of the President’s pre-recorded address was prepared in good time to ensure a clean transmission. However, unauthorised changes were effected without any communication to the desk. Consequently, the programme published and played the rehearsal clip from Ramaphosa’s recorded address to the nation, instead of the final version, according to SABC spokesperson Vuyo Mthembu.

The public broadcaster’s Group chief executive Madoda Mxakwe said: “The SABC will not tolerate any acts or omissions that bring the public broadcaster into disrepute, and undermine efforts to eradicate systemic problems of malfeasance and maladministration plaguing the institution.”

SABC News and Current Affairs Group executive Phathiswa Magopeni added: “Any employee found to be involved in clandestine activities aimed at undoing the ongoing work to restore the credibility of the public news service, will be dealt with accordingly within the confines of the SABC’s human resources and disciplinary policies.”

Will Grace Land And Allow Mugabe To Be Buried Next To Sally

Inside Zim|Former President Robert Mugabe seems to be taking controversy right up to his grave.

Though no one is disputing his national hero status, questions are still being raised on where he will be buried – the national Heroes’ Acre or his home at Kutama.

Now reports say the family will decide when his wife, Grace, arrives from Singapore tomorrow.

If Grace has any say, will she allow Mugabe to be buried next to Sally when all indications are that she will not be buried at the national shrine when she dies?

If Mugabe is buried at Kutama who will be buried next to Sally as there are reports that a space was reserved for Mugabe next to her grave?

The social media frenzy will continue for the next five days.

Despite being loathed by the West, Mugabe has dominated their news pages since his death in Singapore on Friday.

Zimbabwe Nearly Kicked Out Of World Cup By World Minors Somalia

There were four goals in 15 second-half minutes as the Warriors avoided a massive shock on the road to Qatar 2022

Khama Billiat was the 92nd-minute hero for Zimbabwe as they survived an almighty scare to eliminate Somalia from World Cup qualifying and progress to the Second Round.

After falling to a 1-0 defeat in neutral Djibouti in the first leg, Zimbabwe were lacklustre as they looked to turn their fortunes around at the National Stadium, Harare against Africa’s lowest ranked  side.

Marshall Munetsi levelled the aggregate shorelines with an overhead kick in the 77nd minute, but a horror error from Teenage Hades allowed Mohamed in to equalise for Somalia eight minutes later, leaving Zim needing two goals at the death to progress.

Substitute Admiral Muskwe scored a deflected free kick in the 86th minute to breathe life into the Warriors, before Billiat, capitalising on Somali’s narrow back four, slammed home a left-footed winner in the 92nd minute.

The first-leg victory had been Somalia’s first in a qualifying game since they defeated Kenya in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying in 1984, their first-ever in a World Cup qualifying campaign, and their first win of any kind since January 2009.

Despite being ranked 202nd in the world, they held the hosts—90 places above them—with a resolute defensive display, and had appeared primed to make the Second Round after Mohamed’s equaliser sent Zim to the brink of elimination.

Of the 54 African nations competing for one of five places at the global showpiece, the lowest-ranked 28 teams are contesting two-legged First Round qualifiers, with the 14 winners advancing to join the top 26 sides in 10 four-team groups.

The 10 winners of those groups will then compete in home-and-away ties for places at the tournament in Qatar.

For the first time in history, Fifa is broadcasting all of the Round One matches across the continent live on their digital platforms.

Mnangagwa’s Number 1 Aide Says Zimbabwean Social Media Users Are Very Dull .

Energy Mutodi

Deputy government spokesperson and President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s closest aide Energy Mutodi says Zimbabweans are not able to use social media in a way that is progressive.

Mutodi got a backlash from ZANU PF supporters over a tweet that he posted insinuating that a certain High Court judge was appointed because his father was a war veteran and not because he deserved the job.

Last week Mutodi torched a storm when he said Ndebeels were refugees from South Africa.

UZ Students Refuse To Vacate Campus Accuse Mnangagwa Of Command Mourning

Students at the University of Zimbabwe who were today ordered to leave the hostels to accommodate foreign delegates coming for late former President Robert Mugabe have defied the government order.

The Students Representative Council issued a statement defying the order.

Below is an extract from the statement.

We cannot allow a shift from command agriculture to command mourning. This time we are ready to make sure that as they bury Robert Mugabe they also bury the dictatorial tendencies he planted in this country.

We are fully aware of the motif of the ZANU PF run UZ administration of housing ZANU PF folks who will be attending Robert Mugabe’s funeral using the Halls of Residence at the University of Zimbabwe. We would like to warn them that this shall not be done at the expense of students and we are prepared to meet such a decision with the level of resistance it deserves. This is not only an attack to the students of UZ but it is an attack on the dignity of students across the country.

It is a public secret that accommodation is a crisis for students in this Nation owing to  the fact that the very same buffoons failed to provide meaningful accommodation for students.

Students and parents are already finding it hard to sustain a semester due to financial constraints which the cousins of Satan created. We can’t allow those driven by selfish desires to further sink deep in the already empty pockets of the students and parents.

We are calling the University of Zimbabwe to reverse such a call or face the wrath of students as we will find our way into their homes to seek accommodation.

The price of bread has shot up to almost $10 following an immediate rise in the price of wheat too millers.

A loaf of bread now costs Z$9.45 (81 U.S. cents), compared with Z$6.80 before.

The body former president Robert Mugabe will leave Singapore on Wednesday morning (Sept 11), five days after he died in a hospital there.

Vice-President Kembo Mohadi, members of the ruling Zanu-PF party and other senior officials as well as family members attended a service at the Singapore Casket building on Tuesday.

Mr Adam Molai, who is married to Mugabe’s niece Sandra Mugabe, said: “We had a very touching ceremony… it was a very befitting mass, just to see off the body of president Mugabe.”

Speaking to reporters outside the building, he added that Mugabe’s body will be carried home by a chartered flight on Wednesday morning.

Mugabe, 95, a controversial leader who ruled the country for almost 40 years, will lie in state in various centres throughout the country according to latest details.

Zimbabwe’s Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa earlier this week said his body will lie in state at Rufaro Stadium and then at the National Sports Stadium but information coming through indicates that the body will be taken to provinces throughout the country.

Mutsvangwa did not say where Mr Mugabe will be buried, saying more updates will be provided “as more information on the programme trickles in”.

Presidential spokesman George Charamba and Deputy Information Minister Energy Mutodi had said at the weekend that the former authoritarian ruler would be buried at the National Heroes’ Acre.

Mugabe was the first post-independence leader of Zimbabwe who was initially lauded for liberating his country from white minority rule. But his regime later came to be remembered for crushing political dissent and policies that ruined the economy.

He was ousted in 2017.

Mr Mugabe died at Singapore Gleneagles Hospital, where he was seeking medical treatment.

Mr Molai, when asked on Tuesday whether Mr Mugabe was bitter when he was ousted, said: “You know what, everybody’s human. When you go through an experience of that sort, of course you’ll feel pain.”

Mohadi, Bimha In Singapore To Carry Mugabe’s Body

The relatives of the late President Robert Mugabe, in laws (Mike Bimha) and government officials have attended a mass for the late national hero in Singapore.

The church service was held this Tuesday with the Zimbabwean delegation in the city-state to repatriate Mugabe’s body.

The group included Vice President Kembo Mohadi and attended the private Catholic mass for Mugabe at the funeral parlour where his body is. It was officiated by a Zimbabwean priest.

The delegation and Mugabe family members are due to fly out with his body at around 8:30 am (0030 GMT) Wednesday.

The late former President’s nephew Adam Molai said that there was a sombre atmosphere during the service.

The location of Mugabe’s burial remains unclear, with Mugabe’s family and President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government apparently at odds over whether it would be at his homestead northwest of Harare or at the National Heroes Acre.

Ndiraya Still Optimistic Despite Young Warriors’ 0-5 Drubbing

Tonderai Ndiraya

Farai Dziva|National U23 soccer coach Tonderai Ndiraya believes his charges still have a chance to overturn the 0-5 deficit against South Africa.

Ndiraya has brought in two strikers – Mandlenkosi Mlilo and Tatenda Tumba – to beef up his squad.

Speaking ahead of the match on Monday, Ndiraya made it clear that they will throw everything at their opponents.

He said: “There’s still some hope, the boys are recovering and hopefully they respond positively.

“We are playing at home and we are looking at employing very offensive tactics so that we try and turn around things.”

The match will be played at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo and kick-off is at 3 pm.

Police To Probe ZIFA Board Over Embezzlement Of Funds

Farai Dziva|The Sports and Recreation Commission has called on the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate alleged abuse of funds by ZIFA.

The ZIFA board, led by under-fire Felton Kamambo, has often been accused of misappropriation of funds, with the Warriors’ disastrous AFCON campaign and the Mighty Warriors’ COSAFA Women’s Championship being the latest chapters of players either not being paid on time or not even being paid at all.

SRC director-general Prince Mupazviriho reportedly wrote to CID, seeking their assistance in investigating ZIFA.

The Kamambo-led adminstration has many at times been summoned by the authorities and recently, Sports Minister Kirsty Coventry did so after the Mighty Warriors boycotted their Olympic qualifier against Zambia citing unpaid allowances.

Warriors Seek To Overturn Deficit

Farai Dziva|The Warriors, play Somalia at the National Sports Stadium today in a game likely to define the destiny of Zimbabwean football.

To many local fans country-wide, the 1-0 loss to the Ocean Stars in the first leg on Thursday was football malpractice, considering that the East Africans had not produced a positive result in a decade.

That is now water under the bridge and Joey Antipas’ men have a big chance to mend the broken hearts of Zimbabweans, who despite all the set-backs associated with the Warriors, always stand by the team.

If they can overturn the first leg deficit, the Alec Mudimu-captained side would not only have put back smiles on the faces of fans but also ensure they are still in with a shot for a place at the world’s greatest soccer spectacle, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Mugabe Family Members Are “Too Small ” To Decide Burial Place, Declares Matemadanda

Robert Mugabe Was A “Political Thug”

“Save The Education Sector”: Teachers Plead With Gvnt

The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, non-assuming Paul Mavhima made some fun declaration for schools opening calendar.

He wrote from his air-conditioned offices declaring that schools were going to open as scheduled.

This we disputed and today we are vindicated, not that we celebrate the current chaos but because we demand an urgent intervention to save our education sector.

Today learner attendance is as low as 20% in some schools, teachers are not ready for work, being either absent or idle. School administrators are in a panic.

They do not know how to sustain the schools without enough financial support from both parents and the government.

Some schools have resorted to barring learners with school fees arrears from accessing school premises. These learners will just go home and never come back as their parents can’t raise the school fees.

Amalgamated Rural Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe, ARTUZ is irked by how the current crisis is entrenching inequality. The poor can no longer access education under the neoliberal agenda of the current government.

The sons and daughters of government officials are insulated from this crisis as they are enrolled at top-notch private schools locally or some exotic learning centres globally.

It is against this background that we continue to agitate for the smashing of austerity measures. The government should pay our teachers a living wage and allocate enough resources to our schools.

The austerity measures are reversing all the gains we were realising on the social service delivery front. We have to invest in human capital development if we still entertain any hopes of achieving the sustainable development goals.

We call for urgent education stakeholders meeting to dialogue and find ways of arresting the obtaining crisis.

People Playing Around With God, Madzibaba Outsmarted Magaya In Fake Healing Session

Walter Magaya

IHarare|A somewhat hilarious audio recording doing rounds on social media has exposed alleged animosity between PHD Leader Walter Magaya and one Madzibaba Moses.

Watch Video downloading below:

https://youtu.be/xFj-FRr8vQE

Madzibaba Moses took offence to Magaya ‘s utterances on the Apostolic sect and decided to seek recourse. In the audio clip, Madzibaba Moses is alleged to have hired a woman to act crippled and booked her a room at Magaya ‘s hotel.

She was brought to church on Sunday and during the healing sessions,Magaya ‘s prayers supposedly failed to work on her.

She then asked the ushers to take her to the toilets. It was raining and the usher left. She then fled and went to Madzibaba Moses who then “healed” her!

Madzibaba Moses then showed the congregation the photos of Stella in Magaya’s hotel and said to them that this was proof that he and not Magaya, was the true healer!

Above is the viral audio clip,What is your take on this? Could this be authentic or a mere case of sour grapes?

Mugabe To Get A Secret Burial, the World Will Only Learn Of It A Month Later, Nephew Leo Speaks

By Own Correspondent| Latest indications that Emmerson Mnangagwa will be banned from seeing his late boss’ body became clearer Tuesday morning when it emerged, the 95 year old will get a secret burial.

Mugabe’s body is expected to fly into the capital city from Singapore tomorrow Wednesday afternoon ahead of burial previously slated for Sunday.

History Will Absolve Robert Mugabe’ – Julius Malema

Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema has hailed former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe as a hero and a martyr, following his death in the early hours of Friday morning.

Malema said this was despite the mistakes Mugabe made.

“Sometimes matters are complex and the solutions that you are providing might not be sustainable or acceptable solutions when history is giving an account of what transpired in the past. We don’t know what necessitated such conditions and we may not want to justify, especially the killing the [Ndebele] people, the young people and the women,” he said.

“It does not make you a lesser hero because of the mistakes you have committed during the course of conducting the revolution.”

Malema said Mugabe was a “hero of the people” and had remained so “to the grave”.

“President Mugabe will be remembered as a hero because, even when he was in office, he never compromised fundamentals. Amongst those fundamentals was the ownership of the land.

“It was under him that the indigenous people of Zimbabwe were beginning to own strategic sectors of the economy,” Malema said.

The passing of Mugabe has elicited a mixed reaction among people, with some saying Mugabe ruled by fear.

‘We must remain principled to the grave’

Malema emphasised that Mugabe’s party, Zanu-PF, was elected by the people.

“President Mugabe and his party still enjoy popularity in Zimbabwe. You can say whatever you want to say about the election outcome, but ultimately we all have accepted that this is what it is for the people of Zimbabwe.

“Everyone should give their own account and interpretation of Mugabe’s leadership style. For us in the EFF and for many in South Africa he remains an inspiration, particularly for those of us who were involved in a revolution.”

Malema said there were many valuable lessons that South Africa could learn from Zimbabwe.

“All of us accept that there are challenges within Zimbabwe, the same way there are challenges in many other African countries… We must remain loyal to our own policies and decisions,” he said.

“We must not be wishy-washy, we must not change positions as we go because of political expediency. We must remain principled until the grave.

“History will absolve Robert Mugabe,” Malema said.

News24 asked Zimbabweans living in SA for their thoughts on the leadership of the former president.

‘He liberated us’

Ephraim Patsanza said, while his tenure had been a controversial one, especially towards his last days in office, Mugabe had been a fighter for his country and Africans.

“He was there to defend the legacies and history of African people, which I think should not go unnoticed,” Patsanza said.

“I will not say he did not do anything for Zimbabweans. We still need to give him credit. He liberated us.”

One man told News24 that Mugabe’s passing brought back memories of how his nation was suffering, resulting in people like him moving to foreign countries.

Another said Mugabe “caused us a lot of trouble”.

“If it was not for Mugabe, we would not have been here. We are here because of Robert Mugabe!”

Following a wave of attacks on foreigners, another man said Mugabe would have highly condemned the acts and “fought for [them]”.

“He was a brave leader, who was not scared to confront any situation that threatens him or his children. Most definitely he was going to say something so that we can be protected.”

“NRZ Project Back On Track”: Report

By A Correspondent- The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) recapitalisation project is now back on track after the utility’s board yesterday approved a US$420 million funding offer from the Diaspora Infrastructure Development Group (DIDG) and referred it to Treasury for consideration.

DIDG/Transnet Consortium won the tender for the NRZ recapitalisation project in 2017 and the investors were required, among other conditions, to provide proof of funding.

In May, Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Joel Biggie Matiza told Parliament that Government had removed the exclusivity clause for the US$420 million deal after the investors failed to provide proof of funding for the project within 12 months of the framework agreement.

A Special Joint Plenary meeting was held in Harare recently to establish whether or not DIDG/Transnet had capacity to fund the project.

The NRZ recapitalisation and rehabilitation project involves acquiring rolling stock, signalling equipment and information communication technology (ICT) equipment.

A statement signed by NRZ board chairman Advocate Martin Dinha after yesterday’s meeting indicates that the board approved the proof of payment that DIDG has given to Government as evidence that it has obtained funding from Afreximbank.

“. . . a meeting of the NRZ board was held on 9 September 2019 (yesterday) to consider the report from the Special Joint Plenary meeting and resolved to recommend to Government that; the offer/proof of US$420 million funding from the DIDG through Afreximbank be referred to Treasury to pursue and consider, inter alia, the availability of the said funding.

“The NRZ should await guidance from Treasury, on the availability of the funding where after, subject to such guidance as may be given by Treasury, the project be progressed in terms of the provisions of the Joint Ventures Act as previously directed by Cabinet communicated to NRZ through the letter from the Minister of Transport and

Infrastructural Development dated 16 October 2017 to the NRZ,” reads Adv Dinha’s statement.

DIDG/Transnet had been given an August 14 deadline to furnish the NRZ board with proof of funding for the project, amid indications that there were hawks working with some officials in the Ministry of Transport to torpedo the deal.

Adv Dinha said the board was excited that it had delivered on its mandate and has been able to “progress the transaction” towards implementation.

The NRZ board unanimously approved and recommended that parties should proceed to sign a Joint Venture Agreement to allow consummation of JV2 or the new railway concession company with DIDG backed by Afreximbank.

The Afreximbank has become the country’s all-weather friend as it has supported Harare when other financiers especially from the West, withheld their funds.

“As NRZ we now wait for National Treasury and JV Unit under Ministry of Finance to lead the engagement with DIDG and Afreximbank and conclude the necessary agreements so that we start implementing the project with urgency,” said Adv Dinha.-StateMedia

Tambudzani Wants US$13k Monthly Maintenance From VP Kembo Mohadi As Divorce Gets Nusty.

Tambudzani Mohadi

Vice President Kembo Mohadi is challenging his ex-wife Tambudzani’s US$13 000 post-divorce spousal maintenance demand, arguing that the 67-year-old senator no longer has dependent children to support.

The matter is set for hearing before High Court judge Justice Esther Muremba tomorrow.

Mohadi was been dragged to court by his wife, Tambudzani, who is demanding $13 394 per month in spousal maintenance.

The two are involved in a divorce case and allegations of adultery which are still before the courts. Through her lawyers, Messrs Scanlen and Holderness, Tambudzani, who is also Beitbridge Senator, filed a court application on Monday this week. The matter is yet to be set down for hearing.

Tambudzani said while she was living with Mohadi before separating in 1999, the couple purchased various businesses which are now under her husband’s control. As a result she is now surviving on a minimal allowance from her position as a senator. Tambudzani said it was just and equitable for her to be awarded the sum of $13 394 per month as maintenance, which would enable her to enjoy and maintain a standard of living reasonably comparable to the standard of living she used to enjoy while living with Mohadi.

She also wants Mohadi to pay her legal costs to enable her to prosecute the pending divorce proceedings. Last month, Tambudzani petitioned the High Court seeking $1,5 million adultery damages from Mohadi’s alleged current girlfriend, Juliet Mutavhatsindi, arguing she was still the VP’s legal spouse.

Just In- Mugabe’s Burial Place A Secret

By A Correspondent- In an exclusive interview with ZimEye, family spokesperson and nephew of the late former President Robert Mugabe, revealed that the burial date and place for the national hero has been decided by the chiefs and elders of the Gushungo clan but it remained a secret.

Leo Mugabe said that the burial date and place for the late president would remain a secret because he was a chief who will get a chiefs’ burial.

He however dispelled the assertion that government was deciding on the funeral and burial arrangements of the late former president adding that the elders in the Gushungo clan and the traditional chiefs had the final say on this.

He said:

“Regarding the burial date and place, I am sure that the elders have decided. It is just that they are not saying. They have not announced but i am sure that they have decided. That is normal with chiefs, if you are burying a chief its normal. Its the culture. The shona culture says when you bury a chief, it is normal that they do not tell you until the last minute or something like that.

In the Zvimba area, when a chief dies, consult with the sabhukus what happens and they will tell you. You will probably not know that the chief has died and has already been buried. By the time that they announce, they probably would have buried him about a month ago . Those are our own customs. Let’s respect our own culture. Let us teach the world that Zimbabwe is culturally rich.”

Regarding government announcement that the late Mugabe would be buried on Sunday the 15th Leo Mugabe said:

“It is their proposal. The chiefs will have the final say. It is all to do with the chiefs. When we attended the meeting with the government, it was so clear that ok, this is when the SADC functions and the heads of states will attend, so that they do not get inconvenienced by anything that the chiefs will decide. Proposing Sunday, they are saying anytime after Sunday he can be buried. The actual burial date can change.”

Linda Masarira Beaten Up By Newly Wedded Husband After Discovering He Was A Spy Set Up On Her

Husband and wife Linda Masarira at her secret wedding.

Leader of the country’s latest opposition political party, LEAD, Linda Masarira has reported his husband, Gilbert Kaingidza to the police for brutally assaulting her over the weekend.

Kaingidza was arrested after Masarira sought police refuge before being taken to a local hospital for attention after the assault.

According to sources, the fight was triggered by evidence allegedly discovered by Masarira, suggesting that Kaingidza was an agent of her political rivals who was planted into her life to spy on her.

Masarira formally tied the knot with her man Gilbert Kaingidza secretly sometime in June this year.

The couple broke the internet when Linda was pictured wearing a Zanu Pf regalia which drew widespread criticism resulting in her being expelled from the MDC led by Thokozani Khupe.

Below is the pair’s marriage certificate.

It appears the couple tied the knot on 14 June 2019 but the pictures the event might have been kept secret.

Mshengu Attempted A R40k Bribe To Evade Arrest, His Real Identity Still Not Determined.

Sam Chabalala, popularly known as Sam Mshengu

Citizen|It turns out the flamboyant Mpumalanga businessman’s real surname is Chabalala and no one is really sure where he comes from.

The Hawks revealed in a statement on Monday that 27-year-old businessman Sam Chabalala, popularly known as Sam Mshengu of Sam Holdings, had allegedly attempted to bribe his way out of looming legal trouble last week.

It only made his troubles worse though.

Brigadier Hangwani Muluadzi said in the statement that Chabalala appeared in the Witbank Magistrates’ Court on Monday on charges of alleged bribery, corruption, possession of an unlicensed firearm and fraud in terms of contravening the Immigration Act.

He was arrested on Friday at a restaurant at Emalahleni’s Highveld Mall after an alleged attempt to pay home affairs officials R40,000 “to destroy reports of a fraudulently obtained South African identity document against him”, said the Hawks.‌

The Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crimes Investigation unit swooped on him shortly afterwards and found an unlicensed firearm in his vehicle, a green Mercedes-Benz, one of many luxury cars he owns.

He will be appearing to apply for bail again on Friday. On Monday, there was a fair bit of drama outside court when supporters arrived in a fleet of flashy cars to support him.

An investigation of Chabalala’s citizenship status had earlier been initiated by the department of home affairs, with reports suggesting that he is actually from Zimbabwe and may have allegedly obtained his South African citizenship illegally. The Hawks, however, are apparently still trying to ascertain where he really comes from.

The Sowetan has reported that he allegedly only got his ID in 2015 and the woman he claimed was his mother allegedly said she’d never heard of him. Bethal Hospital apparently also had no record of his claimed birth.

The accused’s lawyer, however, told the tabloid that the state had a “weak case” and would struggle to prove it.

Most South Africans had never heard of the young millionaire until he became the face of a flashy convoy of supercars that travelled to the Durban July this year.

At the time, The Citizen reported that “Mshengu” was an Mpumalanga-based businessman who set tongues wagging after having the longest convoy at the event, boasting top-of-the-range cars, with many asking how he had made his money. Of the 72 cars, 10 were his.

Claiming to be born in Makwarela, Venda, he opened up on radio in July about his difficult upbringing and how he eventually made it in the logistics business.

He registered his company, Sam Holdings Trading, in 2014 and used his boss’ trucks to start his business.

“I got a contract even when I didn’t have a truck at the time. I took my boss’ trucks and registered them. I was getting a commission of R10 at the time. I worked for a long time and raised money to buy my own truck. I could make R300,000 a month with commission and salary at the time.”

He kept working and saving money until it got to R3 million. He used the money to buy three trucks and trailers cash.

“Now I have 52 trucks running on the road with machines and plant hire. That’s how I made my money. I’ve never been involved in anything illegal. I do transport with Eskom, but I’m also venturing into mining now with my own mine. It’s all my mind and planning and the mercy of God,” he said.

Julius Malema To Address Mugabe Memorial Service

Julius Malema wearing a Mugabe regalia

South African Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema will on Thursday address a memorial service for the late Zimbabwean former President Robert Mugabe.

The memorial service will be held at the Orlando East Community Hall, Soweto in Johannesburg.

“The EFF will host a memorial service for the late President of Zimbabwe and Africa revolutionary Robert Mugabe to be addressed by Commander in Chief (Julius Malema)” said the party in a statement.

Much Awaited Mugabe’s Body To Lie In State In Two Stadiums

Former Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe

Late former President Robert Mugabe’s body will lie in state at two different stadiums in the capital city for three days, the information minister said Monday, but she could not announce where he would be buried on Sunday.

Mugabe, took power in 1980 when the country shook off white minority rule and ruled for nearly four decades, died on Friday at a hospital in Singapore. He was 95.

Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said in a statement that the government has dispatched Vice President Kembo Mohadi and other senior officials and family members to Singapore to accompany Mugabe’s body home.

The body will arrive in the country “any time on Wednesday,” she said. The body will lie in state at Harare’s Rufaro Stadium and then at the National Sports Stadium, also in the capital, she said.

Mutsvangwa said Mugabe would be buried on Sunday but she did not say where he will be buried, saying more updates will be provided “as more information on the program trickles in.”

Usually quick to speak Presidential spokesman George Charamba and deputy information minister Energy Mutodi at the weekend said the former authoritarian ruler would be buried at the National Heroes’ Acre, a monumental burial site reserved for people viewed by the ruling ZANU-PF party as having served the country with distinction during and after the 1970s war of independence.

Mugabe’s first wife, Sally, is buried at Heroes’ Acre and a vacant plot reserved for the former president is next to her grave.

However, family spokesman Leo Mugabe, a nephew of the former president, said to ZimEye.com in an interview this morning that burial arrangements have not yet been finalized.

Watch video downloading below:

This has prompted speculation of a rift between the government and members of Mugabe’s family, who want him to be buried at his rural home in Kutama, about 85 kilometers (52 miles) southwest of Harare.

He dismissed reports that Mugabe will definitely be buried on Sunday.

Nothing Final On Mugabe’s Burial, Even Date Of Burial Can Still Change, Mugabe Family Dumps Mnangagwa.

Leo Mugabe

Family of the late former President Robert Mugabe has dismissed government claims that the former ZANU PF hardman will be buried on Sunday which is President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s birthday.

Speaking in an interview with ZimEye.com on Tuesday morning, a day ahead of the expected arrival of the body from Singapore, family spokesperson Leo Mugabe said no date nor burial place has been communicated by the family through the Gushugo Chieftainship.

“Mugabe Was A Cruel And Autocratic Leader, He Treated Us Like Dogs,” Says Former Mugabe Top Aide.

Robert Mugabe and Rugare Gumbo

A former cabinet minister and senior Zanu PF official, Rurare Gumbo, has described the late former President Robert Mugabe as a cruel and autocratic leader.

The former Economic Development Minister says Mugabe was power hungry as he never tolerated any form of opposition during and after the country’s liberation struggle of the 1960s.

Gumbo was expelled from the party in 2015 for allegedly conniving with former vice president Joyce Mujuru, to topple Mugabe and remains bitter to this day.

Gumbo in previous interviews also spoke out against former President Robert Mugabe alleging that he ill-treated political rivals who differed with him during the Second Chimurenga war of liberation.

Gumbo narrated one such experience in which he and fellow liberation war fighters Henry Hamadziripi, former police commissioner general Augustine Chihuri, former ZBC chief executive Happison Muchechetere and Mukudzei Mudzi were subjected to torture and inhumane treatment.

In an interview Gumbo said;

“We were treated like dogs. We spent at least three months detained in holes dug in an open place which were closed from the top at about 5 pm, only to be reopened the following morning.”

“The holes were six metres deep and four metres wide. It was hell on earth and we all thought we were going to die.

“At one point the holes were filled with soil and only our heads were left protruding out. But we all survived the ordeal.”

In an interview with VOA’s Zimbabwe Service after Mugabe’s death, Gumbo, however gives credit to Mugabe for prioritizing education, and giving land to blacks, though he says the process was disorderly.

Temba Mliswa Begs Mnangagwa To Accommodate Rugare Gumbo And Didymus Mutasa At Mugabe Burial

Rugare Gumbo And Didymus Mutasa

Norton Member of parliament Temba Mliswa has appealed to President Emmerson Mnangagwa to reserve seats for founding ZANU PF members Didymus Mutasa and Rugare Gumbo during the funeral service of the late Zimbabwe’s strongman Robert Mugabe.

Said Mliswa, “It’s my appeal that people like Didymus Mutasa and  Rugare Gumbo, vakuru vemusangano are given their seats at the Mugabe funeral not pwere dziripo now. Their fear is coming and being humiliated, what guarantee do they have against this.”

Mutasa and Gumbo were fired from ZANU PF in 2014 in a process that ZANU PF  said was to rid the revolutionary party of bad apples

Gumbo was accused of being involved in the shadowy character Baba Jukwa saga.

He was also accused of plotting to assassinate President Mugabe, amid reports that he was recorded saying if President Mugabe blocked the then Vice President Joice Mujuru from succeeding him, he would be deposed “the Kabila way”.

Mutasa was also said to have been involved in the assassination attempts.

In April this year Mutasa rejoined ZANU PF and said he had been forced out of the ruling party by former president Robert Mugabe after criticising him for accepting his wife as a faction leader in the revolutionary party.

Mugabe will be buried on Sunday.

Bob Is Gone But His “Crocodile” Partner In Crime Lives On – Opinion

Partners in crime. Robert Mugabe and Emmerson Mnangagwa.

By Julie Masiga|Comrade Bob is no more. The dictator is dead. Long live the dictator. Bob is gone, but his partner in crime Emmerson “The Crocodile” Mnangagwa, is alive, well, and likely to live many more years.

Together they did many dastardly things, including massacring thousands of ethnic Ndebeles to consolidate their grip on power.

So it comes as no surprise that Mr Mnangagwa is hailing Bob as a “national hero”. Never mind that he was part of the crew who “ousted” the so-called liberation hero from power.

But that’s politics, I guess. Politics, capitalism and dynasty building. Nothing to do with governance or goodness. And nothing to do with the people on whose backs dictators live for years and years.

Either way, it’s certainly the end of an era for Zimbabwe and Africa. One thing you cannot take away from the old tyrant of Zim is his stand against white oppression.

It’s too bad that he was corrupted by the good life, the very thing he accused the empire-makers of enjoying a little too much. In the end, to paraphrase Michael Joseph, he became a white capitalist in a black liberator’s body.

Even so, may he rest in the knowledge that his legacy will live on, because in Africa it is usually business as usual – out with the old, in with the old. I pray God allows me to live as long as he did; may be then I will see a change from the epoch of predatory, extractive African monarchs, to governments by the people, for the people.

Much grandstanding

As dire as our future seems, we the minority shareholders in Kenya Inc., there is still reason to hope. As a people, our resilience level is off the charts. We live in a sink-or-swim society, with a leadership that would be hard pressed to care less about the concerns of its citizens, and yet we survive.

Imagine how great we would be as a people if our government focused more on governance, and less on profit-making and sharing. It really is disappointing when you think about it, such a waste of potential, and so much grandstanding when what we need is service.

Take Bob’s passing for example. Leaders around Africa, many of whom knew exactly who he was, quickly sent in their messages of glowing commiseration. This included one Mr Raila Odinga. Much as I love to rag on the former prime minister, and now building-bridges aficionado, he made an effort to temper his condolence message with a smidgeon of realism.

First, he spoke to the people of Zimbabwe, empathising with their loss. Then he wished them peace and stability, something that they cannot take for granted given The Crocodile’s recent crackdown on Zimbabwe’s fresh crop of liberators. But despite his best efforts to be politically correct, Raila’s view of governance was apparent.

Monarchical autocrats

In referring to Mugabe as Zimbabwe’s “founding father” who like others made mistakes during his “reign”, Raila seemed to be underscoring the idea that voting citizens are children who must pledge their allegiance to monarchical autocrats even in death.

Then again, may be he was sending a message about founding fathers, and the commercial kingdoms that last long after their passing. May be he was making reference to tribal kings, and the princes who extend their legacies at the expense of a hapless peasantry – to feudal lords and landless masses.

Which is perhaps just a bit of insight into his current, and possibly future associations with the crown. A glimpse into how he really feels. Just may be.

Either way, Mugabe’s reign is well and truly over. Like every other ruler in history, his time on the throne was marked by great successes and failures. Like many other men that history will never forget, he was a complex individual. Sharp. Witty. Defiant. Brave. Insecure. Greedy. Heroic. Strong. Unyielding. Paranoid. Power hungry. Loving. Spiteful. Entitled.

And most of all, infinitely unforgettable. His time on earth will forever be a matter of historical record, no matter what anyone thought of him and his presidential exploits. I personally, will miss his humorous way with words, and his lifelong quest to spit in the face of white superiority.

Say what you will, but Mugabe was that guy who was unashamedly African in a world that would rather that Africans were seen and not heard. In his Anglicised accent, he made it known that Southern Rhodesia’s former oppressors and likeminded imperialists, were not going to put him in the corner, which is to be commended.

And with that, Zimbabwe moves on, and the rest of the world looks on. Here’s to the reign of The Croc, may it be shorter and sweeter.

S.A. Defence Minister Says Nothing Can Be Done To Stop Xenophobic Attacks In S.A.

Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, South Africa’s Defence Minister

Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, South Africa’s Defence Minister, on Monday said that the attacks against foreigners in South Africa were planned by criminals and that government can’t prevent it.

Mapisa-Nqakula, who said this in an interview with eNCA, a local television channel, described South Africa as an angry nation and insisted that the government can’t prevent the ongoing violence.

She said, “The reality is that we have an angry nation. What’s happening can never be prevented by any government.

“People are saying some heads of state decided not to attend the World Economic Forum; we should be talking about why this whole thing is coinciding with that.

“People are saying it is xenophobic attacks but it is not the first time, we have had them in the past.

“We have criminals that have read the situation and are aware that we have challenges right now.

“We have talked on the issues of high rate of unemployment, of some foreign nationals who are not conducting themselves in an appropriate manner as we would expect, those breaking the bylaws of the country, and you now have criminal elements who have decided that we are going to use all of those things to find reasons to attack people.

“It is unfortunate and should not happen. The reality is that we need to have a serious dialogue about what is happening and we must take responsibility. The reality is that we are an angry nation and we must talk about it.”

Bulawayo Hit By Massive Mealie – Meal Shortages As Price Skyrockets

MAJOR supermarkets in Bulawayo have run out of mealie-meal and by yesterday only a few retail outlets had the commodity on the shelves.

A snap survey conducted in the city’s Central Business District revealed that major supermarkets did not have mealie-meal. Most shops in the western surbubs had also run out of mealie-meal.

At OK Zimbabwe Jason Moyo branch, which also did not have the mealie-meal on its shelves, the price was pegged at $36,50 for 10kg roller meal. TM Pick n Pay,Choppies and Food 4 less along Herbert Chitepo Steet, all did not have the commodity.

At Greens Supermarket which had the mealie-meal, a 10kg bag of roller meal was selling for between $43,70 and $48 depending on the brand.

Last week the prices were ranging from $25 to $30 for the same bag.

Consumers said the shortage started last week. They said they suspected some retailers were hoarding the commodity to create artificial shortages which will then trigger astronomical price increases.

Th sudden shortage of mealie-meal is difficult to explain given that last week most retail outlets had large stocks of mealie-meal.

The Grain Millers’ Association (GMAZ) said the increased prices of mealie-meal was probably because the price of grain to millers had been increased.

GMAZ spokesperson, Garikai Chaunza, said Government increased maize and wheat prices to millers by 86 percent and 38 percent respectively.

“Maize price is now at ZW$1 300 per tonne from ZW$700 per tonne with wheat going up from ZW$1 600 per tonne to ZW$2 200 per tonne,” he said.

Chaunza could however not explain the shortages being experienced in the city.

Although the country did not harvest enough grain to meet national demand as a result of the drought experienced during last cropping season, Government has assured the nation that no one will starve as measures have been put in place to cover the deficit through imports.

Efforts to get a comment from the Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) president, Mr Denford Mutashu were fruitless as his mobile number was not going through.

Mangudya Exposed As Being Party To Mliswa $400k Bribe Offered To Goddard.

J R Goddard

A Kwekwe businessman Shepherd Tundiya allegedly coerced the director of JR Goddard Contracting Pvt Ltd to withdraw a criminal abuse of office report he had made against four members of the National Assembly.

It is the State’s case that Mr James Ross Goddard reported a criminal case against Messrs Temba Mliswa, Anele Ndebele, Prince Sibanda and Leonard Chikomba to police.

The allegations emanated from a US$400 000 bribe purportedly demanded by Chikomba and Sibanda from Goddard to facilitate the awarding of a mining contract with Hwange Colliery Pvt Ltd.

Tundiya, the court heard, later advised Goddard to withdraw the police report against the quartet and gave him an ultimatum to do so.

Tundiya, who is the director of Avim Investments (Pvt) Ltd, was summoned to appear before the court facing a charge of attempting to defeat or obstruct the course of justice.

He appeared before Mr Lazini Ncube, who remanded him to Thursday for trial commencement.

Mr Michael Reza represented the State.

It is alleged that on December 19 last year, Goddard made a report to the police against the four after Chikomba and Sibanda had allegedly demanded US$400 000 bribe during a meeting that had been facilitated by Tundiya.

It is the State’s case that Tundiya had emphasised to Goddard that he should give Chikomba and Sibanda a kickback for them to process the award.

The meeting at which the MPs allegedly demanded the bribe took place at Goddard’s office in Harare.

On January 23 this year, Goddard allegedly received a phone call from Tundiya who told him that the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor Dr John Mangudya wanted to meet him (Goddard) to discuss his company’s application for R52 million external payments for the purchase of heavy mining equipment in South Africa.

On the following day, Goddard and his company’s administration director, Mr Douglas Mapfukidze, met Tundiya at RBZ and he took them to Dr Mangudya’s office.

Tundiya, the State alleged, went on to advise Goddard that the application was being processed and directed that he should withdraw the police report which he had made against Mliswa and other members of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee. It is alleged he said the charges would cause great embarrassment to Mangudya.

Tundiya further indicated that the withdrawal should be effected before January 29, it is alleged.

On the following day, Goddard reported the matter to the police as he felt Tundiya was interfering.

How Bad Can Things Really Get? Nurses Using Mobile Phone Torches During Delivery

State Media|At least four stillbirths and one maternal death have been recorded at Harare City Council’s polyclinics, as the city is dragging its feet on the provision of proper power back-up facilities, which has forced its nurses to use cellphone torches during delivery.

The incidences occurred between January and July this year.

The situation is particularly dire during load shedding periods, amid indications that some expecting mothers have been asked to buy candles.

Mbare, Hatcliffe and Kuwadzana are the most affected areas, as their solar systems sometimes fail to provide adequate lighting, especially in early morning, particularly on cloudy days.

In an interview yesterday, the local authority’s Health Services director Dr Prosper Chonzi said from January to July this year, he knew of four cases of stillbirths and four maternal mortality cases, but there could be many.

“We have solar back-ups and generators, but unfortunately these are no longer back-ups, but they have become the main source, hence around 3am batteries would be flat, and that is when most deliveries usually take place. So, sometimes people end up using torches, cellphones and candles.

“In Mbare, a baby was born with mucus blocking its nasal passage, and since there was no electricity, the mucus could not be sucked out, leading to death of the baby.

“In another case, a baby was born with the umbilical cord tied around the neck and due to lack of lighting, the umbilical cord could not be untied on time.

“There are also four maternal mortality cases recorded, but three of them were already dead when they arrived at our clinics, while one passed away while giving birth.”

A nurse at a Mbare maternity clinic, who requested anonymity for fear of victimisation, said the situation was unbearable.

“We have noticed with great concern that at our clinic that the solar system is no longer reliable, forcing us to use torches, candles and phone torches during baby deliveries. Not only is this not safe for us, but very risky to the expecting mothers,” said the source.

“We have also been experiencing stillbirths over the past months. We actually tell the expecting mothers to bring their own candles since we are incapacitated.”

Surprise, Surprise…State Media Says Fit As A Fiddle Mugabe Has Flown Back Into Capital City

By Farai D Hove| It was once said that when Robert Mugabe dies people must make sure that he is truly no more; people sleep over at his graveside for some days, and keep checking. Yes, check again, and then once more- this is because he will soon return. And the ZANU PF legend is on several videos boasting that he will rise again. Even his wife, Grace, has threatened Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy Constantino Chiwenga that her husband will return again even after crossing the bridge into eternity.

The 95 year old was reported dead last week Friday, in Singapore. Was that the last of him? Check again.

Somewhat true to all the threats and fears Zimbabweans have had for 39 years, the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation has announced that the man has landed in their country, literally, no joke, no messing about, pure news, official and presidential. Thieving Ex ZIMRA Officer To Lose Properties Acquired Through Stolen Funds

One of the priorities in Harare

State Media|A FORMER Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) employee who reportedly siphoned US$1 239 083 from the taxman’s bank account and splashed it on property is set to lose to the State two mansions in Glen Lorne, Harare, a flat in Harare city centre and a top-of-the-range vehicle.

Tapuwa Evans Chidemo, who worked as an accounting officer in Zimra’s Value Added Tax (VAT) department, unbelievably amassed wealth worth millions of dollars within a short space of time despite having earned a total of $76 279 during his tenure of employment stretching from 2010 to 2016.

Chidemo was once charged with nine counts of fraud involving US$1 279 083, but the court found him guilty of two counts involving US$460 538.

He was jailed six years for the two counts, but the prosecution has since contested Chidemo’s acquittal on the other seven counts of fraud involving US$778 547.

The appeal is still pending at the High Court.

Chidemo, who was responsible for payment of refunds to individuals or companies overtaxed, would instead transfer the refunds into accounts belonging to his wife, relatives and other proxies.

Head of Asset Forfeiture Unit at the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), chief law officer Mr Chris Mutangadura, has since initiated the process of forfeiting the properties arguing that they were proceeds of crime.

Chidemo claims to have sold the bulk of the assets, but the State argues that the sales were not genuine and were just a cover to avoid imminent forfeiture.

The State wants to forfeit the following properties:

l Number 215 Folyjon Crescent, Glen Lorne.

l Number 3036 Shawasha Hills, Glen Lorne.

l Flat 19, Derwent Lodge, No. 9 Josiah Chinamano Avenue, Harare.

l Stand Number 2800, 12th Parklane Court (Pvt) Ltd.

l Mercedes-Benz E-Class (ADN 5756)

In the application, Mr Mutangadura argues that the properties were brought with proceeds of a crime and that they must be forfeited to the State.

“A forensic reconstruction of the circumstances of acquisition of the above-mentioned properties by the first respondent, clearly points to Money laundering.

“The first respondent earned a cumulative amount of US$76 279 during the period beginning October 2010 to January 2016.

“At the time of purchasing 215 Folyjon Crescent Glen Lorne (stand) on April 2 2012 for US$85 000, the first respondent had earned a total amount of US$19 171 during the period beginning October 2010 to March 2012.

“Vis-a vis 215 Folyjon, which the first respondent purports to have sold to the second and third respondents, one wonders why there are two different agreements of sale to two different buyers as indicated above.

“It simply shows that there is no bona fide sale or purchase,” reads Mr Mutangadura’s statement.

The State also questioned the genuineness of the sale of number 3036 Shawasha Hills, saying it was just a way of concealing the offence of money laundering.

“It appears unusual that a lease signed on 27 May 2015 would indicate its date of commencement as 23 December 2015, some six months after the date of execution.

“Again the genuineness of the said lease is put into question,” reads the affidavit.

Mr Mutangadura submitted that the property was tainted and it must be forfeited.

“I aver that orders for civil forfeiture can be sought in respect of property that is suspected to be tainted or terrorist property whenever such property is identified by or comes into the possession of a law enforcement authority which in this case, refers to the applicant.

“The applicant submits that he has managed to prove on a balance of probabilities that the specified property is tainted and constitutes proceeds of crime hence liable to forfeiture to the State,” he said.

The High Court is yet to rule on the application for civil forfeiture.

Mugoba “Buried” At His Rural Home In Chivhu

Mugoba’s body leaves Chuvhu for Harare in an army helicopter

State Media|Scores of people yesterday gathered at the Mugoba homestead in Wiltshire, Chivhu, for the funeral service of national hero, Major-General Trust Mugoba.

In a move to show disgruntlement at the Heroes Acre burial of their family member, the casket was temporarily placed on the area where he was supposed to have been buried at the family grave site had he not been declared a national hero.

A dummy grave will be erected on the site.

Mourners described Maj-Gen Mugoba as a unifier, humble, friendly, and an advisor.

Proceeedings started in the morning with the arrival of the body which was flown from his Featherstone farm.

The body was accompanied by close family members. A church service was conducted at the homestead.

Present at the funeral service were Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs Minister Apolonia Munzverengi, heads of several Government departments, senior army officials, family members, Zanu-PF supporters and members of the community.

A church service followed and later, the national hero’s casket was taken to the family’s cemetery where his parents are buried.

During the service, speakers spoke glowingly of the national hero, including his role in the family, community and the nation.

Family spokesman Dr Jabulani Moyo said Maj-Gen Mugoba was a pillar to the family who provided not only for his immediate family, but many people in Mberengwa, Bulawayo and Chivhu.

“He gave guidance to the whole family, both immediate and extended. He was a responsible man who, despite his demanding job, also had time for others.

“His being declared national hero is an honour to us as the family and an honour to him considering his good deeds. We are humbled by that,” he said.

Chief Musarurwa said the community had lost a unifier and loving member who worked well with people from the grassroots level, headmen, councillors and chiefs.

“Our future as a community also depended on him. He was a friendly man who took time off his busy schedules to interact with others including the young people.

“He was an adviser and was also open to suggestions from others.

“We worked together spearheading developmental projects such as the (Operation) Maguta and Command Agriculture.

“We are humbled that he was given a befitting status. He deserved it,” said Chief Musarurwa.

Chikomba resident, Mr Jephat Kasimeni said Maj-Gen Mugoba was a humble man who could relate well with other members of the community.

“He was a generous man and we are glad his good works have been recognised. It is an honour to the community that he was declared national hero,” he said.

The body was later airlifted to One Commando Regiment in Harare.

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa told journalists in Harare yesterday that the body of Maj-Gen Mugoba will today go to Parachute Regiment for a parade at 2pm.

Burial is scheduled for tomorrow at the National Heroes Acre.

Olinda Swears Never To Fall In Love

Olinda Chapel

Farai Dziva|Controversial Zimbabwean socialite and businesswoman, Olinda Chapel has vowed she will never fall in love again.

According to an online publication, the United Kingdom based social media celebrity who dated famous Zim musician Stunner and married Tytan Nkomo last year has decided to “quit love.”

“She’s so JADED that she will never fall in love again. She can’t, she sees through everyone and their intentions. Even her “friend”

… Now she has no faith in anyone, how could she?

No one has ever been there for her like she would be and has been for them. When she stumbles, she makes it part of the dance.

That’s how she will forever sit on her throne. It’s not how she falls, it’s always the how she rises you need to worry about.

The very vague post however highlights the fact that she was all alone during the hardships of the marriage and separation. For many this is assurance that the woman has decided to call it quits with the whole dating thing and spend some time with herself and daughter,” her friend told the online publication.

“Mugabe Was An Outstanding Nationalist”

The country’s civil service has joined the nation and the world in mourning the passing on of former President Robert Gabriel Mugabe, who has been described as a distinguished cadre who fought tirelessly to liberate and empower citizens.

In a statement yesterday, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda said Mugabe’s death robbed the country of an “outstanding nationalist and a pan-Africanist par excellence”.

“The Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda, deputy chief secretaries, senior management of the Office of the President and the rest of the civil service, join His Excellency Cde ED Mnangagwa, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, the Mugabe family and the nation as a whole, in mourning the sad passing on of the founding father of our nation and former President of our country, Cde Robert Gabriel Mugabe on 6th September 2019,” said Dr Sibanda.

“In Cde R. G. Mugabe, our country, and indeed Africa as a whole, has lost a selfless revolutionary leader, outstanding nationalist and a pan-Africanist par excellence.

“Our beloved departed former President has left us an enduring legacy of commitment to national peace and unity, which he pursued through his far-sighted policy of national reconciliation, the 22 December 1987 Unity Accord between ZANU and ZAPU and other subsequent unifying efforts he undertook throughout his leadership.”State media

Relief For Vehicle Owners As Government “Secures “Number Plates

Government is set to receive 20 000 number plates for trucks and trailers at the end of the month, while other plates which are not for public service vehicles are now available, Government has said.

Secretary for Transport and Infrastructural Development Engineer Amos Marawa announced the development at the launch of the Ease of Doing Business 2019-2020 programme in Harare last Thursday.

The availability of number plates is set to alleviate situations where motorists had been unable to register their vehicles for the past several months.

Importers of vehicles were unable to register their vehicles owing to a shortage of number plates and had been advised to obtain Temporary Identification Cards (TICs) for indefinite use as Government worked on the matter.

Eng Marawa said the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) had made a commitment to secure funding for plates, but “faltered”.State media

ED Son In Law’s SRC Unleashes ZRP On ZIFA

Gerald Mlotshwa

The Sports Commission have engaged the police to investigate Zifa over alleged misappropriation of public funds.

The investigation covers the period from December last year to now. Prince Mupazviriho, the Sports Commission director-general, wrote to the ZRP seeking their assistance in compelling Zifa to release the information which the regulatory body first demanded in July.

It is the Commission’s belief there has been misappropriation of public funds at Zifa. The football leaders, though, deny that.

Mupazviriho wrote a letter to the Deputy Director Commercial Crimes Division in the Criminal Investigations Department.

“As indicated in our letter to yourselves, dated 10 July 2019, we now wish to formally request the urgent assistance of the Zimbabwe Republic Police to carry out investigations at Zifa, and any related third parties, in respect of conduct of a criminal nature involving public funds availed to Zifa by the SRC and Government,” Mupazviriho wrote.

“In particular, we wish that the investigations focus on the following matters of grave concern to the SRC as set out in the letter of July 3.

“Key to this issue is the use of public funds received by Zifa and, or, any of its officials as well as involvement of a company called Conduit Holdings in appearing to obstruct the course of justice by frustrating the Order of the High Court of Zimbabwe.

“The SRC stands by to assist should you require further information.”

In his first letter addressed to Zifa chief executive, Joseph Mamutse, Mupazviriho said they were “acutely aware of the controversies surrounding the Warriors’ Afcon campaign which ended in embarrassing fashion on June 30 following a 4-0 humiliation by DRC.

“These controversies give rise to a prima facie case of gross impotence on the part of Zifa, such conduct and/or omissions appearing consistent with Section 30 (i) (c) of the SRC Act regarding conduct by Zifa in a manner which is contrary to the nation’s interest.

“In terms of the said Section 30, the SRC board have directed that Zifa avail it the following detailed information on or before close of business Friday 12 July, 2019:

1. Zifa to detail all funds received by it from Fifa and Caf and/or any other football body recognised by Fifa during the period of 16 December 2018 to 30 June 2019.

2. Zifa to detail all funds disbursed to all of its board (members) during the same period, and the purposes of each such disbursement to the member concerned.

3. Zifa to detail all funds received by it from the government, and members of the public, during the same period aforesaid.

4. Zifa to explain the source of funding for the charter of an aeroplane to Cairo for its members and supporters for the Warriors.

5. Zifa to provide the rationale for this decision in light of the allegations that all or some of the Warriors had outstanding emoluments to them.

6. Zifa to provide a passenger manifest in respect of such charter and the reason for the journey by each such person on the manifest.

7. The total cost of the charter, and the total cost of accommodation paid for by Zifa in respect of the charter passengers.

8. Zifa to provide an affidavit from the Warriors’ captain regarding his views and opinions in respect of the reported discord within the Warriors camp over outstanding allowances and agreement on Afcon fees.

9. Zifa to provide detail of its financial relationship with a reported company, Conduit Holdings (Private) Limited, focusing in particular on allegations of criminal conduct in evading a valid Court Order.

10. The head of the Technical Warriors Committee to provide, in affidavit form, the collective views of his committee, regarding the reasons for any discord within the Warriors camp that may have been a contributory factor in the team’s disappointing performance at Afcon.

11. Zifa to include any other information that may assist the SRC in formulating its position, based on established facts, with regard to the Afcon campaign

“Only when all this information has been provided will the SRC consider Zifa’s request for a meeting”- state media

Preps For Another Tuku Memorial

Oliver Mtukudzi and Jah Prayzah

Preparations for the upcoming Tuku Memorial concert, the second instalment following the poorly attended tributary gig organised by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe in July, are underway.

Show promoter, Patson “Chipaz” Chimbodza, confirmed at the weekend that the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority had given them a thumbs up for the tribute concert slated for September 27 at the Glamis Arena.

South Africa’s Mi Casa, Zambia’s Amayenge, James Sakala and locals Enzo Ishall, Soul Jah Love, Jah Prayzah, Winky D, Diana Samkange, Alick Macheso, Blot, Black Spirits and Tocky Vibes complete the star-studded line up of performing artistes.

The stellar line up of artists bears testimony to how much of an icon Dr Oliver Mtukudzi was.

While there have been several commemorative gigs for Tuku in and outside Zimbabwe, it appears the upcoming gig will be the mother of all memorials.

Mtukudzi or simply Tuku to his legion of fans, worked with almost everyone on the bill, and for those that he did not work with directly, he at least inspired them.

Interestingly, Soul Jah Love, who has not featured in any of the Tuku memorial concerts, will share the stage with some of the talented young artistes. Soul Jah Love known in Zimdancehall circles as Chibaba will be coming fresh from his new album launch Zviri Pandiri Zvihombe and one can imagine fireworks at the gig.

Added to this, Enzo Ishall is still at his peak with such hits as Bhiza and Magate still tearing the dance floors across the country.

On the other hand, Jah Prayzah’s latest single Sadza Nemuriwo will be more than welcome on stage.

Mtukudzi died on January 23 this year after succumbing to diabetes at the age of 66.- State Media

ED Govt To Acquire Equipment To Track Cyclones

Government is in the process of acquiring equipment and software for tracking and monitoring tropical cyclones and storms to improve the accuracy of weather information and avoid a devastating impacts such as those witnessed during the March Cyclone Idai.

The Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement, together with the Meteorological Services Department (MSD), has already signed a contract with a company that will supply a network of five radars, which will see the country being able to provide information on tropical cyclones and storms as it happens, as opposed to forecasting.

MSD deputy director for engineering and ICT Engineer Pomokai Mazhara said the department signed the contract on August 13 and has since submitted its application for funds through the parent ministry to Treasury and is awaiting release of funds.

He said US$6,5 million was required for a network of five radars.
“The radars will enable the department to give people appropriate and more accurate information,” said Eng Mazhara. “The first two radars will be stationed at Bulawayo and Buffalo Range because the southern parts of the country are more prone to cyclones and storms.

“By using radars, we can downscale information to four kilometres resolution and we will also be able to have sector specific forecasts which are more accurate. The software will be able to give us the approximate amount of rain from a cloud or cyclone. This is a very helpful tool in forecasting.

“Besides providing information on cyclones and storms, the software can also be used for television weather presentations and can also be used in aviation.”

Eng Mazhara said the process of procuring and installing the software took about eight months.

“Once the money has been released, the supplier will start manufacturing. This is a three-year contract and the signing is the first step towards procurement,” he said.

There were concerns by the general public over how weather experts handled the Cyclone Idai disaster which killed about 350 people and destroyed infrastructure, mainly in Chimanimani and Chipinge.

People felt there was need to shift to latest technology and carrying out more awareness campaigns in areas in the path of the cyclone.

The MSD said Cyclone Idai was an eye opener and there was need for stakeholders to work together and invest in disaster preparedness and management. -state media

Olinda Chapel “Quits” Love

“We Never Doubted Mugabe’s Leadership Qualities”

Farai Dziva|Controversial war veterans leader, Victor Matemadanda is now singing a different tune and has suddenly begun to praise former President Robert Mugabe.

Addressing war veterans and church leaders at a Zimbabwe Amalgamated Churches (ZACC) meeting in Bulawayo yesterday, Matemadanda, who is also the Zanu-PF National Political Commissar, said while it was not a big issue to him, the family had no right to stop him from attending the funeral.

“For as long as the family has agreed that Cde Mugabe is a national hero, they can’t stop me because Government protocol allows me to attend the funeral. They don’t know what they’re talking about.

“I will not join a fight over a dead man. Where I come from we don’t brag over the dead but we mourn them,” said Matemadanda.

He said in African culture, it was taboo to fight before a family member has been buried.

“I don’t know what the elders in Cde Mugabe’s community in Zvimba say about this. But this person whose funeral they’re refusing to let me attend forgave the people who jailed and tortured him during the liberation struggle,” said Matemadanda.

He said he was convinced that whatever he told Mugabe when they disagreed was not based on gossip or hearsay but the truth.

“For those who may not know, when I started resisting what our leader was doing, I did not just do it. We actually spoke about it. Unfortunately he’s gone and he’s not here to testify.

“I booked an appointment with him and I told him that I was not in agreement with some of the things he was doing. We spoke at length,” said Matemadanda.

“I worked under Cde Mugabe for a long time and people who are saying I should not attend his funeral don’t know when I started working with him. Although I was low in the party, I worked with Cde Mugabe at critical stages of the revolution where they didn’t come themselves to defend their own. We could not by principle allow him free rein when we knew that we had not agreed on some of the things that were now happening in the party”.

“Even when we disagreed on some issues, we never doubted his capacity, leadership qualities and his contribution to the liberation struggle and the development of the country. But when the truth has to be said, we should not bury our heads in the sand,” Matemadanda said.

He said after all has been said and done, Mugabe remains his leader together with those who served under him.

I Forgave Mugabe Long Back-Linda Masarira

Farai Dziva|Lead president Linda Masarira says she does not feel anything about Robert Mugabe’s death.

Speaking on the debate on Mugabe’s death on the Identities Conversations, an Identities Media Holdings platform for public debate and conversations, Masarira said:

“I don’t feel anything about the death of Mugabe. My life was so miserable during his era. I am not happy or even sad about his death because I got nothing positive to tell about him and his then government. I lived a life that I was always being followed by state security agents since becoming involved in activism in 2009.”

“I have been arrested and all the times I was beaten by police. The state has no right to assault people for demanding their rights. All these made me a bitter person to an extend that I thought to myself that if given the chance of meeting the ex-president I felt like strangling him. Later on, I managed to let go of the anger after his ouster from power, I felt relieved and I forgave him for no one is perfect,” said Masarira.

Gvnt Mum On Mugabe’s Burial Place

By A Correspondent| The government has revealed that the late President Robert Gabriel Mugabe’s funeral parade will be held at Rufaro Stadium in Harare on Thursday and Friday.

However, nothing was said about the late national hero’s final resting place.

Addressing reporters in Harare on Monday, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said:

The body is expected in Zimbabwe at Robert Gabriel Mugabe Airport anytime on Wednesday, 11 September 2019.

On Thursday (12th), and Friday (13th September), the body will be taken to Rufaro Stadium to allow members of the public from all provinces to pay their last respects to the illustrious liberation war hero.

On Saturday 14 September 2019, the body will be at the National Sports Stadium for the state funeral service where Zimbabweans and other foreign dignitaries and members of the diplomatic corps will have an opportunity to pay their last respects to our departed hero.

Burial is set for the 15th of September 2019, which is on a Sunday. We will certainly be giving you more updates as more information on the programme trickles in.

Mugabe died on Friday 6 September at a hospital in the Far Eastern City-State, Singapore.

He had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment for an extended period of time.

Meanwhile, Vice President Kembo Mohadi left Harare on Monday for Singapore at the head of a family, ZANU PF and government delegation to repatriate the former President’s body home.

“Mugabe’s Passing On Is An Ommission Of Justice”: Mthwakazi

It is with profound grief and sadness to learn that RG. Mugabe,  the first prime minister and indeed the first executive president of the independent Zimbabwe passed away in Singapore on Friday the 6th of September 2019 without accounting for the heinous crimes on humanity that he committed wantonly on the unarmed civilian population within the boundaries of Zimbabwe.

Clearly,  some people are above human laws and are able to dodge justice in daylight until they die.

To us as MLF, this stands to confirm and assert the notion that ‘ justice delayed is justice denied’. Once again our bleeding nation has been denied justice and it looks set to continue to as long as murderers and rapists remain at the helm and manipulating the levers of power to suit their evil motives.

As if this is not enough, we are appalled by some so-called leaders and luminaries across political and cultural decide trying frantically to clean Mugabe of what he was even when he is dead and portray him as a saviour and a philanthropist. This tells of how heavy handed Mugabe was that people can even fear his remains .

To any rational and upright person,  this is grossly unfair to both the dead others and the still living alike because they know very well that Robert Mugabe was a villain who only cared about himself all his time and even on his death bed.

Robert Mugabe,  during his hay days,  presided over genocide,  multiple rapes,  abductions,  arbitrary arrests, torture and displacement of over a million innocent people he purportedly stood to liberate at the dawn of Africanism.

He was never true to the ideals of the struggle for independence.  Mugabe is a known tribalist,  supremacist and a bigot who read history upside down to placate only his protracted ego. He robbed people of their inherent rights,  livelihoods and freedoms while hoodwinking the region and the world to believe that he was a Messiah.

He talked right but walked left always. Robert Mugabe was and still is an embodiment of all evil and intolerance.

Those trying to clean him today because he is gone,  have no aorta of humanity in them and must be ashamed of blatant lies they are peddling on whatever media suits them and for their ulterior motives.

They are simply going against what all the inhabitants  of binary Zimbabwe  know only too well Robert was capable of during his era.  Suffices to call them,  conspirators in the failed attempt to exterminate other humans on the basis of ethnicity and political beliefs.

These are the very irresponsible and crooked adults who have shielded him from prosecution until he died. These are the very irresponsible adults and angels of doom who have the audacity to claim that Mthwakazi people whom they continue butchering at will are foreigners in Zimbabwe.

These are the very people who want to claim sole ownership of the land between Limpopo  and Zambezi river as though they germinated there when history  has it that they also immigrated from the Great Lakes regions.

These are very irresponsible adults who are bent on changing history to suit their circumstances because they do not have traceable history and so they wish to bloat impeccable history of other nations.
Therefore, Robert  Mugabe has died with countless crimes hanging over his head, a reason he would have preferred  to die in office in order to escape prosecution.

If there is justice in the land of the departed,  then definitely Robert still has to be tried there and punished endlessly for what he did to God’s people. The legacy Robert leaves behind,  is that of hate,  mistrust,  dishonest, rape, theft and wanton murders.

He has left the nation worse off than it was prior to the so-called Zimbabwean independence. Robert hijacked people’s independence and freedoms and turned them into self aggretisement oblivious of the suffering that his actions subsequently caused across the country, region and the world.

Today,  Zimbabwe  is a laughing mess that is belittled by many progressive citizens of the globe. Zimbabwe is now a begging bowl of Africa down from being the bread basket of southern Africa – thanks to the tyrant Robert Mugabe.

As he goes,  he leaves the Zimbabwean mess in the hands of another clueless murderer,  his disciple and buddy in crime,  Emmerson Mnangagwa. With his remaining accomplices, no peace nor prosperity is in sight for Zimbabwe because he left to them his Bible of treachery and all evil and they implement his teachings to the latter and in some cases even going beyond him.

The future is grim. The only way for his predecessors  to see light of the day and put Zimbabwe on the right track, is ONLY by allowing  Mthwakazi to stand alone and determine her future without hindrance or interference from them. The binary Zimbabwe has suffered immensely in the hands of tyrants who would even prefer to spend the meagre resources  the country is left with to police and subdue Mthwakazi.

It is therefore mind sobering that since their godfather Mugabe failed to obliterate Mthwakazi  from the face of the earth,  they too must let go of Mthwakazi  and work  towards improving  the livelihoods  of their chosen people – the Shona – and let Mthwakazi pursue it’s  aspirations and ideals.

The binary Zimbabwe is simply too big for the inept Emmerson and horde to manage-they need a relatively smaller area to run otherwise the country  continues  to nose dive in all areas that matter and to no avail.

The issue of where the tyrant Mugabe should be buried ought to be left to his accomplices but it would be prudent if he were to be put together with his other murderers at the so called Heroes Acre.

As MLF,  we shall not miss him at all but will stand aggrieved that he evaded justice while he lived with the living. We are very bitter that he escaped justice by being shielded by Mnangagwa, Perence Shiri and zanupf.

We are equally concerned that his departure has set a wrong precedence which Mnangagwa and others cherish and would like to follow and evade justice for their known crimes and which they too know.

However,  we do have solace in that crimes of such magnitude cannot be wished away and just vanish meaning that those who still commit same or similar  crimes stand condemned too and shall never know peace even when they die.

As MLF,  we say Robert Mugabe,  like his surviving accomplices, is a criminal and has died as such and shall only be remembered  as such. Robert and his conspirators in crime shall go into history  books for all the bad and uneviable reasons.

One cannot imagine a man of his stature,  who destroyed all institutions of the once prosperous country,  dying in hospitals of foreign lands even when the country has qualified medical personnel to attend to him.

Currently,  we even see the same trend with the surviving murderers further emptying the country’s coffers to get medical treatment abroad while the innocent perish in hospitals  these criminals  single handedly destroyed.

Their medical bills are paid for by the very people they seek to exterminate. They loot resources of the country and spend them abroad only to return in coffins-Zimbabwe has been reduced into graveyard  by these Mugabemaniacs.

Such observations only fuel  and heighten our resolve as the oppressed Mthwakazi people to want out of this man made mess called Zimbabwe  which is now only a legacy of the heartless and remorseless tyrants who have no clue nor will to improve the lives of the masses.

Even Mnangagwa’s gods cannot hear the voices of the down trodden  people but his only so he too shall go the Mugabe way leaving people with gaping wounds and scars that can never heal.

They undoubtedly will always leave the nation bleeding from wounds which they inflict relentlessly. The sight of them nauseates.

“Given The Chance, I Would Strangle Mugabe”: Linda Masarira

By A Correspondent- LEAD President Linda Masarira said there was a time when she felt like strangling the late former president Robert Mugabe for violating her human rights.

Masarira said she felt nothing about his death now and she had forgiven him after his ouster from power during the military coup in November 2017.

She said this while speaking about Mugabe’s death on the Identities Conversations, a platform for public debate and conversations.

She said:

“I don’t feel anything about the death of Mugabe. My life was so miserable during his era. GumTree Thief Nabbed

By A Correspondent- A Harare man has appeared in court for allegedly stealing gum tree logs.

Knowledge Zhoya, 35, pleaded not guilty when he appeared before magistrate Victoria Mashamba charged with theft.

He was granted a $150 bail and he will back in court October 3 for trial.

It is the State’s case that on August 26, Mitchel Zharara discovered that his gumtree logs were stolen from his workplace and the complainant filed a report to the police to that effect.

On September 4, Lawrence Teni who is employed by the complainant came across the accused who was pushing a pushcart with a gumtree log with the same peculiar marks as the one stolen at his workplace.

Teni then followed the accused and noted his place of residence and he went on to report the case to the complainant and the police.

Investigations were done leading to the arrest of the accused and recovery of three-meter gumtree log at Zhoya’s house.

The total value stolen was $2400 and only $100 was recovered.

Harare City Council Mulls Water Tarriff Increase

By A Correspondent| The city of Harare is proposing to increase water charges from RTGs 0.80 cents per cubic meter to around RTGs 7.00.

The development, according to the city fathers aims at ensuring the provision of adequate funding for the water sector.

Said the City of Harare in a statement:

“HARARE is proposing to increase water charges from RTGs 0.80c per cubic meter to around RTGs 7.00 to allow adequate funding of the water sector.

A cubic meter is equivalent to five two-hundred litre drums.

“The cost of water treatment chemicals has increased by a factor of more than 10 since all chemicals are either 100 percent imports or have major forex components.

The cost of electricity which is the second cost driver in water treatment and conveyance has also gone up.

It has therefore become necessary to review the cost of water.

The City is currently in the process of testing other chemicals with the objective of improving efficiencies and effectiveness of the water treatment proceses as well as reducing costs”.

The current water shortages are a result of drought, inadequate water sources and the inconsistent water pricing structure against the cost of production.

Many suburbs are going without water. The city is appealing to consumers to understand the situation and embrace the impending price adjustment that will ensure viability of the water sector.

Council has engaged Government for the drilling of more boreholes and construction of new water sources.

“I Was In Love With A Grade 6 Pupil”: Jailed Teacher (39)

By A Correspondent- A 39 year old teacher in Chipinge has been jailed for three years for being intimate with a Grade 6 pupil.

The primary school teacher, whose name has been withheld to protect the identity of his victim, was convicted on his own plea of guilty before Chipinge magistrate Elizabeth Hanzi.

He was sentenced to five years in prison of which two years were conditionally suspended for five years.

Asked by the magistrate why he abused the girl, he said she consented as they were in love.

“I was in love with the girl. We had agreed to engage in se_x because we were in a relationship,” he said.

Prosecutor Shamiso Ncube told the court that on an unknown date in June, the 13-year-old girl, together with her two friends aged 10 and 12, went to the teacher’s house to borrow plastic tins to water the school garden.

However, he gave them his laptop to watch movies in his cottage.

From that day the girls regularly visited the teacher at his house.

On another date, unknown to the prosecutor, the teacher proposed l0ve to the girl and she agreed and he indulged in se_x with her.

The minor divulged the incident to a friend on the way home.

The matter was only reported to the police a month later by the girl’s sister after hearing of the abuse through the grapevine, leading to the teacher’s arrest.-Newsday
