Khama Billiat has shared his thoughts on Knowledge Musona’s return to the Warriors squad ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Group C matches against Benin and Nigeria this week.

Musona made a return to the national team after ending his international retirement, having initially stepped down in May 2022 to focus on his club career and allow younger players a chance to shine. However, coach Michael Nees successfully persuaded him to come back, and the forward is now rejoining the team.

Billiat believes Musona’s wealth of experience will be a valuable asset to the squad.

“Having Knowledge back, with all his experience, is a huge motivation,” Billiat told ZBC News before the Warriors’ departure for Durban, South Africa on Sunday afternoon. “We’ve worked together in the past, and it feels amazing to have him back. It’s been a long wait, and now he’s finally here. We really need his experience, and it will add a lot to the team. He’s a great leader, and his presence will surely be a big motivation for all of us.”

Discussing the Warriors’ chances in the upcoming games, Billiat said: “We’re taking each match one step at a time, focusing on doing our best. The first one is in South Africa against Benin, so that’s where our focus is right now.”

The Warriors will host Benin at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Thursday, before traveling to Uyo, Nigeria, to face the Super Eagles on Monday.
