POLICE in Bulawayo are hunting for an unidentified Honda Fit pirate taxi driver who allegedly kidnapped and tied a woman to a car seat before he sexually assaulted her twice and infected her with a sexually transmitted infection (STI).

The woman suffered a double ordeal as her attacker dumped her at — of all places — West Park Cemetery around midnight.

A police source close to investigations said the woman boarded a Honda Fit car at a garage at the corner of Jason Moyo Street and 5th Avenue at around 11pm last week on Saturday.

The source said the Honda Fit had four men excluding the driver inside and was heading to North End suburb.

The police source said the four passengers disembarked along the way.

The unsuspecting woman remained with the driver as she had not reached her destination.

But she never knew that a dark cloud was hanging over her head. The source went on to reveal that the driver stopped at West Park Cemetery.

“The driver of the Honda Fit parked at West Park Cemetery and switched off the lights. He quickly tied the woman with a rope to a car seat while threatening to stab her if she screamed. He raped her twice,” said the source.

The police source said after the sexual ordeal, the driver dumped her at the cemetery and sped off.

She made a report at a police station.
Acting Bulawayo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident.

“We are investigating a case of a woman who was raped by a Honda Fit driver who is on the run.

We are appealing to anyone with information that may assist in the arrest of the suspect by contacting any nearest police station. We would like to discourage women from boarding vehicles where there are males only. We encourage members of the public to use registered vehicles.”State media
