Opposition MDC has called on its supporters not to wear their party regalia at the demonstration set for Harare on Friday.
Party National Organising Secretary, Amos Chibaya told reporters on the sidelines of the party leadership press conference in Harare on Wednesday that the party is discouraging the wearing of party regalia as the demonstration is not limited to the MDC but it’s for all Zimbabweans.
Party insiders told ZimEye.com that the stance by the party is also meant to counter efforts by rival ZANU PF to tarnish the MDC by ddressing thugs in the opposition party regalia and get them to destabilise the demonstration.
ZANU PF has been accused of printing MDC t-shirts meant to be supplied to hired thugs who would cause mayhem in the demonstration and incite violence which will eventually be blamed on the MDC.
Chibaya urged party members to remain peaceful throughout the demonstration and guard against any elements trying to disrupt the peaceful march.
