The MDC Youth Assembly is highly prepared to answer to a generational clarion call to partake in massive demonstrations against military dictatorship, illegitimacy, high fuel prices, high food prices, water shortages and electricity blackouts among a myriad of ZANU PF authored problems stalking our people.

Ours is no longer just a class struggle, a race struggle nor a religious struggle but a people’s struggle against a draconian system that has impoverished a whole generation.

As an Assembly it is our resolve and belief that time is now ripe for young people of Zimbabwe to take a Malcolm X or a Steve Biko radical approach to our struggle for change.

It is important we highlight that social democracy remains our DNA especially in the midst of provocations and evil machinations by state actors and a war like ZANU PF youth wing bent on fomenting chaos and plunder by planting rogue elements within demonstrators.

Yes, we believe in a peaceful, pro active, confrontational and radical non violent approach but we are ready to pay the ultimate price to fulfill our generational mandate which is the very essence of our existence as a people.

Our demands as a generation are very clear, genuine and realistic but unfortunately they have fallen on dear ears.

It is very clear that Emmerson Mnangagwa and the military junta do not have any solution under their sleeves to solve the current unemployment and economic crisis that adversely affect youths more than any other social grouping.

This is the very reason why as an Assembly we are very much committed to lead from the front to ensure that our rights are respected and our dignity is restored.

Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa working in cahoots with the military cabal has successfully emasculated and stripped us of any decorum as young people and as a generation.

There is clear and deliberate ploy by the regime to demean and pauperize the whole generation hiding under the guise of Mthuli Ncube’s so-called austerity measures.

The worst form of anarchy and terrorism is putting austerity measures on an unemployed population while negating to curb the Executive’s reckless expenditure and extravagance.

It is that given background of people’s grievances and the reluctance of those in power to act that will determine the longevity of people’s stay in the streets.

As an Assembly we reiterate our previous position and commitment to make streets our homes and 16 August marks that mass exodus from our empty homes into the streets.
