By Own Correspondent- A legislator her has implored government to seriously consider the establishment of a law school in Matabeleland considering that learners wishing to study law are restricted to other provinces.

Magwegwe constituency member of parliament Anele Ndebele told parliament that graduates from his constituency perform better in the arts subjects hence the need to establish a law school in Matabeleland.

Said Ndebele:

“I raised the issue of a law school in Matabeleland is because if you look at the Advanced level results, we are the worst in terms of science passes.  We do not have laboratories.  Therefore, those who can be lawyers are those that we are producing in large numbers – the arts students.  That is why I raised the question of law.  That is how it comes in this discussion of STEM.  I understand the University of Zimbabwe is national but my question was, we were the first to get a high court before Masvingo and the Midlands but they are offering degrees in law. This is why I brought it in.”
