By Own Correspondent| Brigadier General Emilio Munemo has been declared a national hero.

Munemo died on Sunday after a short illness.

He was one of the commanders of the 5th Brigade which killed thousands of people in Matabeleland during Gukurahundi.

Munemo was the Director General Civil Military Relations at the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) headquarters.

Said William “Acie Lumumba” Mutumanje confirming the development:

National Hero | Tonight Vice President Kembo Mohadi flanked by Zanu PF Chairman and Minister of Defence Oppah Muchinguri led a delegation from government and Zanu PF to announce the decision to honor my father with National Hero Status.
