By Own Correspondent|Former Zanu Pf youth league leader Jim Kunaka appeared before Harare magistrate Francis Mapfumo facing charges of subverting a constitutionally elected Government or alternatively inciting public violence.
Kunaka, unsuccessfully challenged his placement on remand and the matter was remanded to January 31.
Prosecuting, Shepherd Makonde said Kunaka incited citizens to carry out nationwide shutdown and to stay away from work using his Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp accounts.
The State alleges Kunaka participated and also urged the people to take part in acts of public violence.
In his application which was dismissed by the court, Kunaka was arguing that there was no reasonable suspicion warranting his placement on remand but the State opposed the application on the basis that the facts as presented by the State disclosed a reasonable suspicion that Kunaka committed an offence.
