Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo| A group of soldiers descended on the streets of the ancient city of Masvingo today and ordered vendors to vacate undesignated selling points.
The soldiers from the military police department, said failure to comply with the directive would spell trouble for the vendors.
“We know you have been selling your merchandise at illegal points- please vacate the undesignated selling points as soon as possible.
You have 24 hours to vacate illegal selling points,” said a soldier from the military police department.
Disgruntled vendors said they were not happy with the militarisation of civilian matters.
” I think this issue is between vendors and the city council.
How can armed soldiers come out of the barracks to meddle in civilian affairs, ” said a vendor who declined to be named.
Masvingo Mayor, Councillor Hubert Fidze was not immediately available for a comment on the matter.
A council official said the exercise was part of the operation restore legacy programme.
“We want to de-congest the city so we are working with the police and the army to restore order in the city centre,” said the official.

Good. They were twerking at Mnangagwa thinking he was better to them than Mugabe Now this. And they cannot fight this lot back else they will need a very large hospital. There is no functional hospital in Masvingo.
If ever there was a time to observe the law, this is it. Operation Restore Legacy will be in full force for the next ten years.
When Mnangagwa wants foreign investors in, if one comes and a fool pickpockets the visitor, we will see what happens next.
Please observe the lfrom now on.
Animosity towards Cde Mugabe blinded people to a point of embroidering and sanitizing a military takeover. People stupidly thought Zimbabwe had become some sort of a Xanadu. Not yet uhuru! You will miss R. G. very soon.
Soldiers are proving that the police was right after all. Zimbabweans think its a right to commit crimes in the name of poverty. Policing is a difficult complex and thankless job. fail to act you are blamed. act you are blamed. so lets see how it goes.
Ngavabve ma vendor. You helped them to remove Mugabe but there turning on you. Masoja rovai ma vendor big time. Ko tajamuka iripi.
