President Robert Mugabe’s wife, Grace has reportedly silenced leaders of her party faction, G-40 which is pushing for her to succeed her aging husband, in a Déjà vu of the Mujuru ouster days.
Sources close to the First Lady told ZimEye.com that the disciplined are Higher and Tertiary Education Minister Jonathan Moyo and Local Government Minister, Saviour Kasukuwere, who is also the party’s national political commissar, over what CIO agents say is a secret tape recording.
In 2014, former Vice President Joice Mujuru was kicked out of ZANU PF after CIOs presented to President Mugabe what they claimed were audio recordings of Mujuru insulting Mugabe saying: ” He is now resting on his faeces, he must go.”
The two, Moyo and Kasukuwere are leading the G-40 factional group which is in a fierce succession battle with Vice President Emerson Mnangagwa .
The sources said recently while the First Lady was in the far East where her daughter Bona was giving birth, she received a “secret tape recording” from her spies which recorded one of the G-40 leaders saying that they wanted to deal with her (Grace) after having finished with the Mnangagwa faction.
“After listening to the tape one of the G-40 bosses called the First Lady wishing her good health for her newly born grandson Simbanashe, and he was told not communicate with the First Family again,” said the sources.
“This is the reason why you are not hearing them (G-40) saying anything because they were silenced and now they do not know where to start from and neither do they know their future in the party,” they told ZimEye.
Moyo and Kasukuwere were part of the Mnangagwa camp before the ouster of the former Vice President, Joice Mujuru and they played a big role which led to the dismissal from both government and Zanu PF of Mujuru and her aides.
