An Itai Dzamara political activist was found dead on Saturday after falling from the 7th floor of Harare’s Jameson Hotel.
Roy Issah, who was also a YARD(Youth Advocacy for Reform and Democracy) member, was pronounced dead at Jameson Hotel (a known Central Intelligence Organisation, CIO common dining place) on Saturday night.
He was part of the Dzamara group which is protesting against President Mugabe’s misrule at the Africa Unity Square.
His death was confirmed by Temba Mliswa’s YARD who wrote a brief obituary on him.
In addition, a message by the Occupy Africa Unity Square group said, “Roy Issah was one of us. A sharp young Zimbabwean, animated by a brightly burning inner fire. He joined the Occupation and selflessly contributed what he could, all for a better Zimbabwe for all of us.
“On the night of Saturday, 11th June, Roy fell from a room on the 7th floor of Jameson Hotel in Harare CBD.
“It is yet unclear as to how it happened and police are still investigating,” said the OAUS in the statement.
Meanwhile Temba Mliswa’s YARD released the below statement saying,
“It is with a heavy heart that we acknowledge receipt of the untimely death of one of our very own, cde Roy Issah of Mashonaland East, Commander of Goromonzi North District. Cde Roy passed on yesterday after he had come to Harare from Arcturus where he stays. It was his vision for a better Zimbabwe, which saw his journey to Harare, a he was joining other young leaders, who are currently occupying the Africa Unity Square, in peaceful protest against the brutal, carefree and careless government of the day.
Cde Roy was a dedicated YARDer, who laboured daily for a better Zimbabwe. Having witnessed first hand the violence of 2008, our beloved Roy had become an epitome of tolerance and a servant of society building within his district. When I first saw cde Roy, we had a meeting for the YARD Goromonzi district, and he offered us a place at his father’s homestead. He understood the need for a new youth movement which was all encompassing, and he needed the same message to be passed on to the many youths of the Arcturus area, who had been involved in a divisive and protracted political struggle, which usually got violent. Cde Roy opened his doors to all available youths, some holding senior positions in a variety of political parties, and demanded that we discuss nation building and social healing without our political jackets.
It is when you hear such progressive rhetoric, and see such levels of commitment that you identify the leader that was being nurtured in young Roy.
Today, that young leader is no longer with us. Roy Issah is no more. Within YARD, we remain a family and we have suspended all YARD activities until the Commander is buried. After the burial, we should intensify the work that has to be done to realise the dream that Commander Roy Issah had for Zimbabwe. The best way to honour the life and work of Commander Roy, the only way, is to toil as youths, to toil as YARD for the realisation of his vision of youth empowerment, social equilibrium, unity of purpose, and democratisation of Zimbabwe.

We read recently of people coming to these people in Africa Unity Square threatening them and then they were arrested only to be released and die. Well the true God knows who did it and your day will come.
