The tranquillity in the ZAPU ranks is finally paying huge dividends; today on the 21st March 2015 at ZAPU’s new offices in Bulawayo scores of the MDC Youths dumbed the MDC to join ZAPU.
“We have come back home, we have always known our true home, ZAPU is our true home, we are happy to be back home” said one of the MDC Youths who defected to ZAPU today.
ZAPU has for the past year consistently and painstakingly built its structures and ensured its visibility and this has slowly attracted new members, however, it had not yet attracted enmasse defections till today.
ZAPU has now successfully re-branded itself as a modern revolutionary Party, whose roots are firmly anchored in people power and people aspirations.
People are starting to believe the ZAPU proposition of a firm, unapologetic and uncompromising stance against the Mugabe regime.
“We have carefully calibrated the ZAPU unique proposition to meet the people’s needs, with our modernisation agenda and a huge number of people are warming up to our cause” Mr Christopher Maphosa said.
“It is not by coincidence that you now see large numbers of the people flooding our ranks, it was through deliberate strategic planning” said Mr Maphosa, who was clearly ecstatic due to the MDC Youths defections to ZAPU.
ZAPU is continuing with its activities, in the UK, will see the Party staging yet another demonstration at the Zimbabwean embassy on the 27th March, a third of its nature within a month.
On the 2nd May 2015, the Party will hold its Annual General Meeting at a venue to be announced in the Midlands. The AGM is promising to be the most vibrant and lively gathering since the Party’s revival.

  1. At the moment yes there are no numbers for Zapu but it does not mean that there can never be or will never be there. There is “weapon time” in every political situation. Tswangirai had numbers. He failed to form a government and even accused ZEC that announced the results that were giving him a clear win. So even numbers do not always work. Who ever imagined that there would be a debate, talk or argument about Zapu after Joshua Nkomo’s death? And more so young people talking of preferring it to any other party? Zapu of all the parties! No money to throw around from European or American NGOs! Nothing! But you get young people saying ” we want to join that party.” Interesting.

  3. You must be an incurable optimist to think s/thing will come from Zapu!! The harsh reality that you’re ignoring is that elections are a game of NUMBERS and not principles!! And the sad reality is that Zapu does NOT have the numbers….

  5. Ki ki ki Zvazviri. These are very wise young people who have principles instead. Unlike many who support political parties for protection from prosecution because of serious crimes such as rape, kidnap and murder. They are rising above those who support parties for food, money, sex and other favours. This gives them a chance to propagate for a cause they believe in instead of following every Jack and Jill. Their dream of genuine freedom, social justice and development will be realized . At the moment they honestly have nothing to lose except bonds and chains of bondage.

  7. My humble advice to Pro: Ncube, is ” come back home”. Your knowledge and wisdom, could play a crucial part on the road to ”freedom in our lifetime”.

  9. This is the right way to do things. The promises made during the struggle for independence should not be allowed to die in vain. We have travelled a long way. There is no need to stop now. Together we are stronger and our voice can be heard throughout the corners of the world.
