A shocking and disturbing incident has shaken the small town of Mwenezi in Zimbabwe, leaving residents reeling in horror.
Daisy Makanaka Moyo, a 25-year-old woman from Headman Mabhena, Chief Negari, has been charged with the murder of her husband, Talent Golden Masuku, 40, after catching him with his ex-wife.
According to court records, Masuku had separated from his ex-wife, Shingirai Mativenga, 44, for a year but had apparently rekindled their romance. The couple, who have three children together, met at Negari Business Centre in Mwenezi on July 9, 2024, and spent the day together. They later decided to spend the night at the homestead of a local resident, Obey Matutu.
Tragedy struck the following morning when Moyo arrived at the scene, catching her husband and his ex-wife together. In a fit of rage, Moyo allegedly attacked Mativenga with a log, striking her on the head, and also bit her below the chin. Masuku, attempting to intervene, was fatally stabbed by Moyo.
Moyo appeared before Justice Sunsley Zisengwe at the High Court in Masvingo two weeks ago, charged with Masuku’s murder. The case has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the destructive nature of jealousy and the devastating consequences of unchecked emotions.
As the trial continues, the people of Mwenezi are left to grapple with the aftermath of this tragic event, serving as a stark reminder of the importance of seeking help and support in times of emotional turmoil.
