By Showbiz Reporter–Police have launched an investigation after a daring early-morning raid at Alpha Omega Farm in Marondera, where a gang of up to 19 armed robbers made off with US$75,000 in cash—believed to be part of the lobola businessman Wicknell Chivayo recently paid for his wife, Lulu Muteke.

The robbers stormed the farm on Tuesday, overpowering security before fleeing with the substantial sum.

Authorities are yet to release further details on the incident, but sources indicate that the assailants meticulously planned the heist, targeting the high-profile family.

A Lobola Fit for Royalty

The stolen money was reportedly part of the extravagant lobola ceremony that Chivayo, known for his flamboyant lifestyle, hosted for his bride. 

The businessman, famous for his ostentatious displays of wealth, spared no expense in securing Muteke’s hand in marriage.

His lobola proceedings made headlines after he allegedly paid a record-breaking amount, including luxury gifts, high-end vehicles, and large sums of cash.

Held in grand style, the ceremony drew the who’s who of Zimbabwe’s elite, with socialites, business moguls, and evengovernment officials in attendance. 

Chivayo’s generosity reportedly extended beyond the traditional payments, as he showered his in-laws with lavish presents, solidifying his reputation as one of Zimbabwe’s most extravagant spenders.

The brazen robbery has sparked speculation about whether the criminals had insider knowledge of the significant cash transactions that took place at the farm.
