The incompetence of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has once again been called into question as residents of Chiredzi continue to rely on South African mobile networks due to the failure of local networks to provide service.

The government has been widely criticized for its inability to address the growing communications crisis in rural areas, particularly in Chiredzi. “In rural areas, especially Chiredzi, residents in areas like Chilothlela, Davata, Madzanda, and Sango Border Post are forced to use South African networks,” said an opposition official on Sunday.

This situation highlights the government’s failure to ensure adequate mobile network coverage in these communities.

At present, there are only nine base stations servicing Chiredzi Rural, including locations like Chilonga, Chikombedzi, Boli, Pahlela, Gezani, Makhanani, Malipati, Sango Border Post, and Chikwalakwala.

These stations, however, have proven to be inadequate for the needs of the growing population.

Despite the growing demand for reliable mobile communication, the government’s failure to invest in the necessary infrastructure has left many residents with no choice but to depend on South African networks, a situation that underscores the government’s gross inefficiency.
