MY wife is having an affair with a man from her village.”

These are the words of a divorce-seeking husband who has had enough.

A Nigerian man, whose age has not been identified, approached the Igando Customary Court in Lagos in a bid to dissolve his 33-year-old marriage.

According to Premium Times Nigeria, the man told the court on Wednesday, 8 September, that his wife had abandoned him and their children for 10 years. He also accused her of infidelity.

“She deserted her matrimonial home to an unknown destination for 10 years. She just returned in 2020,” he told the court.

In her response, the 57-year-old wife claimed her husband was an unrepentant adul_terer who had slept with her sister and friends.

The publication reports that the woman accused her husband of being a serial womaniser who once abandoned her with their seven kids and moved in with his nyatsi.

“He lives with me in the house I single-handedly built, eats my food, drinks my water and still frustrates my life.

“If my husband insists on divorcing me, he should be ready to move out of my house,” she said.

After listening to both parties, the judge pleaded with the couple to maintain peace, and adjourned the case until 21 September.
