Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC MDC Alliance has dismissed as cheap political talk claims by Zanu PF that South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is funding the opposition party.

The popular movement gets its funding from dedicated members, according to Hon Charlton Hwende, the MDC Alliance Secretary General.

We are only Funded by our Membership

We are obviously shocked by these baseless allegations that we are being Funded by the South African President. Zanu pf is out to destroy our party. They have done everything humanly possible to do so including diverting our lawfully guranteed public money from the Political Parties Finances Act, seizing our party headquarters via the assistance of the military, recalling our Members of Parliament and Councillors and therefore effectively overturning the will of the people as expressed in 2018 elections and arresting our leaders. As we speak, our Vice Chairman Job Sikhala and Party Spokesperson were arrested on a non- existing law of communicating falsehoods. Our Harare Mayor is in prison on trumped up charges and has been denied his rights to bail and health.

All these shenanigans are meant to destroy the only authentic opposition in Zimbabwe. And yet such efforts are not bearing fruits and that is why they continue to make baseless accusations including that MDC Alliance is funded by the ANC. This allegation is also meant to silence the South African government and the ANC on speaking on the crisis in Zimbabwe.
