The opposition MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere has challenged government to extend its compensation policy to farm workers who also lost property during the country’s chaotic land grab at the turn of the century.

This comes after the Emmerson Mnangagwa led administration has inked a US$3.5 billion compensation deal with commercial farmers representative groups.

Speaking at a press conference in Harare on Thursday Mahere said there were over four million former farm workers who were displaced during the land grab and lost priorities and investments in the processes.

According to her some are now living in abject poverty as a result of losses incurred.
