After all the noisy commotion using the courts to destroy the MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa, perrenial nemesis Douglas Mwonzora was yesterday given a taste of reality, a slap on the head that voters are not produced by courts. You have to earn your political capital.
Chamisa ‘s candidate, councillor, Jacob Mafume, was yesterday elected the new Mayor for Harare following an election held on Thursday.
He polled 19 votes against Luckson Mukunguma who had 14. Mafume replaces Hebert Gomba who was recently recalled by the MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe.

The victory was described by political analyst Pedzisai Ruhanya as a warning to Khupe of more embarassing defeats to the MDC Alliance ahead. He said:
If Khupe, Mudzuri, Komichi and @DMwonzora can lose an elitist poll like this what about the battles ahead where us the voters will take part. Surely seeing out does not help. The masses, the people have a date with you @DMwonzora
