MDC Alliance National Youth Organiser Godfrey Kuraone’s Trial Set For Tomorrow

Today, Masvingo Magistrate Patience Mandondo heard the case of MDC Alliance National youth organiser Godfrey Kuraone at Masvingo Magistrate court.

According to Advocate Martin Mureri, the state drop the charge where councillor Kuraone was allegedly to have circulated a vedio on social media platform with a song, “ichava nhoroondo kana tandenderwa nababa kubvisa president Munangwangwa pachigaro ichava nhoroondo.”

This case of circulating vedio was dropped by the state because “there are no witnesses.”

MDC Alliance National youth organiser Godfrey Kuraone was allegedly to have committed this offence on 20th July 2020 in Manicaland where MDC Alliance members were burying one of the national youth members.

This means, councillor Godfrey Kuraone has one case to answer tomorrow at 9am. Tomorrow’s case councillor Kuraone is the following: The state allegdly that on the second case on 31 July 2020, at around 6am, Godfrey Kuraone blocked the road by putting stones and burnt tyres along Gaths mine-Chirumanzu road.

Advocate Martin Mureri said, “Yes, l can confirm that today the state informed the magistrate that the state has managed to get two state witnesses on the case. Therefore, tomorrow there will be trial for councillor Kuraone at 9am at Masvingo Magistrate court.”

Yesterday, the trial failed to start because the state had not completed recording statements from the witnesses.

MDC Alliance National youth chair Obey Sithole said, “I am happy that the trial of our youth national organiser Godfrey Kuraone will be heard soon. Justice delayed is justice denied.”

Today, marks Councillor Kuraone’s 43 days days in Remand prison.

The personal doctor of councillor Kuraone managed to treat him. Today councillor Kuraone was in excellent health.

The court premises was heavily gaurded by armed police officers. As usual councillor Kuraone came to court in leg irons and in handcuffs.

Outside the court premise, there were armed riot police.
