By A Correspondent- The Secretary-General of the opposition MDC Alliance, Chalton Hwende has urged a critic to come and lead a revolution on the ground instead of talking on social media.
Responding to a tweet by one Zandile who had urged the public not to “embrace leaders who despise the idea of a revolution,” Hwende said:
Another Twitter user @cdembishi weighed in:
They are not elected to sit and enjoy benefits of being in government. Representing us means leading from the front as well not fronting masses for something we voted them for. You are right @madiba
This comes as the MDC Alliance leadership has been criticised for not taking a more radical approach to confront the government which is accused of bad corruption and violation of human rights.
Some of the leaders including the jailed Job Sikhala have been rallying the citizenry to participate in anti-government protests although they themselves were in hiding.
The state is, however, known for cracking on its critics and has in the recent past arrested anti-corruption crusaders who include opposition leaders, journalists and human rights defenders.
