Farai Dziva|Veteran journalist and former Zimbabwe Union of Journalists(ZUJ) president, Matthew Takaona has been arrested by overzealous police details in Masvingo.

Takaona was arrested and detained on Tuesday as he was assessing the implications of a government directive to reopen the popular Chitima Vegetable Market in Masvingo.

“Matthew Takaona, former president of the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ), currently working as a consultant with The Mirror, was arrested and detained by police in Masvingo today as he was assessing the effects of a Government order to reopen vegetable markets in the midst of the ravaging COVID-19,” The Mirror reported.
