Neyi Zimu’s wife, Dr Nelisiwe Zimu, continued to pray for her husband until his last breath.

The couple who were both senior pastors at All Nations Revival Ministries recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary.

The gospel star succumbed to skin cancer on Wednesday, 4 December, at Busamed Modderfontein Private Hospital Orthopaedic and Oncology Centre.

During his fight with Cancer, Dr Neli as she is affectionately known cut her hair in support of him. She also partnered and many other gospel singers started the ‘Healing for Neyi Zimu’ global prayer initiative.

This prayer was launched in an effort to heal the gospel star: During his sick EFF leader, Julius Malema, also pleaded with the country to pray for Neyi Zimu.

“This morning we paid Pastor Neyi Zimu a visit at Baragwanath Hospital and we are impressed with the progress our brother and gospel veteran musician is making. My fellow countrymen and women let’s pray for him and his family during these difficult times.”

He is survived by his wife, his son and his two daughters.
