“August 16 Demo Is Guaranteed In The Constitution”: Gvnt

By A Correspondent- Responding to a question on whether government consents to the opposition MDC August 16 demonstration, Information minister Monica Mutsvangwa said because the Constitution allows for peaceful demonstrations, the government upheld citizens’ right to peaceful protest .
Said Mutsvangwa:
“First of all government recognises the supreme law of the land which is the Constitution. And the Constitution allows for citizens to demonstrate peacefully.
There are certain procedures to be followed and once those procedures are followed, government upholds the Constitution.”
