By Thomas Machingauta| On the 16th of August when the impoverished people of Zimbabwe take to the streets, the message to the world needs to be clear that we want regime change in Zimbabwe. We want Emerson Mnangagwa and his murderous soldiers and police to step down and allow Nelson Chamisa and the MDC to take charge of government. Everyone with a brain will know that Mnangagwa stole the 2018 election. Not only that, but he took power via an illegal military take over of government in 2017.
To all the Zimbabweans around the world, our message needs to be clear – we want regime change. There is no need to sugar coat the reason for the demonstration. We want Zanu to go. This regime is an illegitimate authority, they took power via a military coup, their authority does not come from the people of Zimbabwe and as such, they need to go.
I urge the progressives in the military to stand down and refuse to take orders from the regressive gun ho military leadership. I urge the people of Zimbabwe who are taking to the streets to be steadfast and not give up on our struggle for democracy. I strongly urge the Zimbabweans in the diaspora, in the UK, USA, South Africa, Canada, Ireland, Germany Australia, Namibia, Botswana, Kenya, everywhere to convey the message of regime change.
