By A Correspondent| Former tourism minister Prisca Mupfumira is set to be demoted to a card carrying member following resolutions by Zanu PF’s Mashonaland West province to strip the Central Committee member and Senator of her high position due to graft allegations.
Mupfumira who last week, was relieved of her ministerial post is currently behind bars facing an array of corruption charges.
The resolution to demote Mupfumira was made at a Zanu Pf Mashonaland West Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting Sunday and ZANU PF Mashonaland west chair Ziyambi Ziyambi confirmed the development and said:
The PCC resolved that Priscah Mupfumira be recalled from the position of Central Committee member and Senator in Mash West to an ordinary card-carrying member. This is in support of President Mnangagwa’s efforts to fight corruption in the country.
We need to build the country and pulling out corrupt seeds among us is important for us to bring economic recovery.
Another committee member Misheck Nyarubere echoed Ziyambi Ziyambi’s statements:
“As Makonde, we have agreed that we relieve Priscah Mupfumira of her duties as a Central Committee and Senator.
This is because we cannot have a leader who is facing charges of corruption of this magnitude.
I, therefore, propose that we recall her and leave her as an ordinary card-carrying member.”
