Paul Nyathi|Reports just received indicate that a police officer shot and killed a motorist who refused to pay him a $2 bribe at Skyline tollgate along the Harare – Masvingo Road.

The incident happened on Monday.

According to sources the motorist was intercepted by police while using a back road in order to avoid paying toll fees at the Tollgate. The officer is alleged to have demanded that the motorist pays half the toll fee to him as bribe.

The motorist is reported to have indicated that he did not have the money and started driving away leading to the police officer shooting at him and killing him on the spot.

Sources claim that this is not the first time that police at the Tollgate have fired shots at motorists using the back road though it’s the first time someone has been shot dead.

No official statement has been given by police on the incident.
