Paul Nyathi|Newly installed Democratic Republic of Congo, Felix Tshisekedi collapsed on stage while giving his inaugural speech at Thursday’s ceremony.

He stunned the guests comprising local and international when he indicated midway his speech that he was not feeling well before going down on his knees.

He was rushed behind the stage and first-aid had to be administered to rescusitate him.

After twelve minutes of panic and worry, Thisekedi walked back to the stage to continue to finish delivering his speech.

His handlers blamed his known condition of hypertension and “a very tight bullet-proof vest” as the cause for the sudden collapse.

Thisekedi has been sworn-in after a disputed election held on 30th December 2018 in which many stake-holders including the powerful catholic church said his rival, Martin Fayula was the clear winner of the DRC presidency.

Kabila’s government snubbed mediation efforts by the African Union and the country’s Constitutional Court proceeded to announce Thsisekedi as winner.

Kabila also set inauguration plans in motion even when a Committee of African Presidents was expected in the Country.
