Press Statement by Dr Nkululeko Sibanda (Presidential Spokesperson)
Various international and local institutions, organisations and multinational bodies have in the last few days called on the ZANU PF government under Mr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa and General Constantino Guveya Chiwenga to restore communications in Zimbabwe.

They emphasise that communications allow people to exercise their fundamental freedoms. However, Mr Mnangagwa and General Chiwenga have now blocked all communications, in and out, of Zimbabwe.
The current blockade is concerning because it has no trigger and may indicate that the duo are planning on further gross human rights violations under the cover of communications blackout. This is of the gravest concern given both Mnangagwa and General Chiwenga’s propensity towards wanton violence and readiness to commit genocide level crimes against humanity.

We make an urgent call to SADC and international community to intervene and stop this out-of-control regime from destroying human rights in Zimbabwe.
