Harare Mayor Ben Manyenyeni has won a court application for his release.
Harare Magistrate Vakayi Chikwekwe has ordered the (ZACC) Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission to immediately release Manyenyeni, who was arrested on Wednesday 29 June 2016 and charged with criminal abuse of duty as a pubic officer.

Magistrate Chikwekwe today faulted the ZACC and the Zimbabwe Republic Police for violating his constitutional rights by detaining him beyond the prescribed 48 hours before bringing him to appear before the courts.
In a statement the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) said it congratulates Professor Lovemore Madhuku, Dzimbabwe Chimbga, Bellinda Chinowawa and David Hofisi for the legal services rendered to Councillor Manyenyeni during this week of high drama and period of persecution.

  1. This scoundrel Kasukuwere is taking over from where that lunatic Chombo left off.The continued persecution of opposition city fathers was his mission and is now Kasukuwere’s mission. I don’t believe Chombo has one single thing he can point to as a success during his extended stay as the local government minister. Even the out of sorts and late Solomon Tayengwa, when asked what he thought were his successes as Harare Mayor told the nation he had built the round-about at Mbudzi. For Chombo the sentence will probably contain Sekesai Makwavarara’s name somewhere.

  5. Munyenyeni should in turn sue for wrongful detention and defamation, etc. Somebody has tb held accountable and he knows the culprits. Must be the damn Kasukuwere, whatever his name is.
