EXCLUSIVE: Temba Mliswa EU meeting updates – PART 1

By A Correspondent  | Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa is the only person befitting to replace President Robert Mugabe, (Youth Advocacy for Reform and Democracy) YARD leader, Temba Mliswa has told the EU.

Briefing politicians and bureaucrats at meetings organised by ZimEye at the European Union at the EU Parliament in Brussels on Wednesday, Mliswa’s strong message to them was that they should recognise Mnangagwa as he is best placed to offer leadership that will give Zimbabwe a smooth transition to final democracy.

Mliswa who also upholds that Morgan Tsvangirai is the only viable challenger to Zanu PF, argued his case saying “Mnangagwa commands respect of the security forces” and the increasingly restive war veterans. He said “to avoid war,” this is the best option for Zimbabwe.

He dismissed first lady Grace Mugabe as just having the power but no authority over the strategic arms of the State.

It was not clear at the time of writing whether Mliswa’s message had found resonance in the EU which in the past has supported Morgan Tsvangirai. The man however conducted high level briefings at the European Parliament.
