WE THE BISHOPS OF THE ANDREW WUTAWUNASHE WORLD WITNESS AND WORLDWIDE FAMILY OF GOD CHURCHES ALSO KNOWN AS THE AFRICAN REVIVAL:
Recognizing our calling and duty according to the command of the Lord God Almighty as Servants of the Lord Jesus Christ to lead and shepherd His people according to the Word of God, and,
Taking heed of the admonition of the Lord to us as the Elders of the Church according to Acts 20v 28-31 which reads:
“TAKE HEED THEREFORE UNTO YOURSELVES, AND TO ALL THE FLOCK OVER THE WHICH THE HOLY GHOST HAS MADE YOU OVERSEERS, TO FEED THE CHURCH OF GOD, WHICH HE HATH PURCHASED WITH HIS OWN BLOOD. FOR I KNOW THIS, THAT … GRIEVOUS WOLVES SHALL ENTER IN AMONG YOU, NOT SPARING THE FLOCK. ALSO OF YOUR OWN SELVES SHALL MEN ARISE, SPEAKING PERVERSE THINGS, TO DRAW AWAY DISCIPLES AFTER THEM. THEREFORE WATCH ……..” ( KJV). and,
Having diligently and prayerfully looked into the matters we hereby refer to; HEREBY PUT ON RECORD THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT FOR THE GUIDANCE OF ALL BONA FIDE FOLLOWERS OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST WHO ARE MEMBERS OF THE CONGREGATIONS OF THE FAMILY OF GOD CHURCHES WORLDWIDE, AND FOR ALL CHRISTIANS AND PEOPLE OF HONESTY AND GOOD WILL WHO HAVE BEEN IN ANY WAY AFFECTED BY THE RECENT MATTERS WE REFER TO BELOW, AND MORE SPECIFICALLY BY THE LAUNCHING OF THE ORGANISATION KNOWN AS THE FAMILY COVENANT CHURCH (FCC) THROUGH THE MALICIOUS AND SUSTAINED SUBVERSION OF MEMBERS AND CONGREGATIONS OF THE WORLDWIDE FAMILY OF GOD CHURCHES THROUGH A SUSTAINED CAMPAIGN OF FALSEHOODS AND MISINFORMATION:
1. As the College of Bishops of the Worldwide Family of God Churches, consisting of eighteen Bishops based in all nations and Bishoprics served by the Family of God Churches, we hereby dissociate ourselves from the recent destructive division of the church unilaterally and without consultation perpetrated and spearheaded by two Bishops who were members of our College of Bishops. This was done through a campaign in the social media and other mediums of sustained vile and false allegations against the Founder of the Worldwide Family of God Churches, Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe. This was done, as it is written in Acts 20 quotedabove, to draw away disciples after themselves by speaking and continuing to speak and propagate perverse things, and to “launch” their own congregations known as Family Covenant Church (FCC) ,sourced almost entirely from deceived members of the Family of God Churches. While we uphold the right of anyone to build ,through Divine guidance, churches or ministries, we maintain that such ministries should be built on the sure foundation of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, not through creating distress, confusion and mayhem on a work of God raised on another Servant of God’s foundation. Apostle Paul emphasises strongly that we should not found the work of God on other men’s foundations. This is equivalent to common theft. Simple righteousness should teach us that creating deliberate lies in order to gain members is sinful and will not be blessed by God as a foundation and building blocks for the true church of Jesus Christ.
2. The destructive actions of the leaders named above, continue to be orchestrated through their followers. It is our sincere conviction after diligent and prayerful enquiry to warn bona fide Christians and members of the Family of God Churches not to be lured and ensnared by these deceptive tactics. We also exhort all who have rightly continued in the Family of God Churches not to be intimidated, disheartened or dismayed by the clearly unGodly, unBiblical and unChristian mockeries of the Family of God Churches and of the Servant of God, Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe which this new formation continually churns out in order to achieve their stated aim of destroying the African Revival. God’s Promises, Covenants and Presence in the Family of God Churches and with His Servant, Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe continue according to His faithfulness. We also strongly urge and welcome everyone who has been driven to leave the Revival through these deceptions, to return to the Family of God . As your shepherds we are persuaded that the Lord Jesus Christ who planted you in this Revival has not uprooted you from it.
3. As the Bishops and God appointed leaders of the Family of God Churches, we have in the way prescribed by the Word of God, diligently looked into the issues and events concerning the decision by Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe to voluntarily disclose to a limited group of leaders in the church his conviction after prayer to officially end his marriage to Dr Rutendo Wutawunashe after over ten years of a confidential separation. The confidentiality was aimed at protecting, as he felt God required of him, the work of God among women in the hands of Dr R.F. Wutawunashe, and the work of the Revival under the hand of the Prophet Andrew Wutawunashe. This confidential communication, meant to start a process of Divine order through which the leadership could in the right and Biblical way communicate to leaders and God’s people the difficult decision the Servant of God had to make, was mischievously released to the social pages by a leader whose motive was to create confusion and divide and destroy the church for his own benefit. We are persuaded that the original way in which the Apostle had decided to communicate was right and according to the Word of God.
We also see with hindsight that the mischievous circulation of this letter was one of the initial deceptive steps taken to pave the way for the division of the Family of God Church and the formation of the Family Covenant Church (FCC) through the subverted members of the Family of God Church. This is evidenced by the fact that although the Apostle then continued to salvage the process of communication in Divine order through several interactive meetings of all Bishops and Pastors through which he explained that his course of intended actions met the requirements of the Word of God, one Bishop began through public preaching that misrepresented both the decisions the Prophet had communicated, and the spirit of the Bishops and Pastors meetings, to preach and also release to the public social media a deceptive message that clearly gave people the impression that the Prophet was simply putting his wife aside because he wanted another girl. It is the testimony of more than one person, including Bulawayo Pastors, that on the way to the first Pastors meeting the Prophet called, this Bishop stated falsely that the Prophet was wasting the time of the servants of God as he had already paid lobola for a girl in Botswana whom he named. This deliberate and blatant lie was later developed into another fabrication that the Prophet had made this girl pregnant. It is also the testimony of the Bishop of Botswana that this Bishop unsuccessfully invited him at this point to join him in taking over the church as the Prophet’s ministry had now ended. These lies would later form the form the body of the many vile and false stories which FCC leaders and members are using to subvert individuals from the Family of God Church. This manner of deception and betrayal is inexcusable, and we as Servants of God dissociate ourselves from it. It is very worrisome that FCC leaders continue to preside over a strategy worldwide where these and other lies continue to be told in order to subvert Family of God people to FCC.
4. WE ARE AWARE THAT MANY PEOPLE AND ENTIRE CONGREGATIONS OF THE FAMILY OF GOD CHURCHES HAVE BEEN RECRUITED BY FCC THROUGH THE FALSE CLAIM THAT THE FAMILY OF GOD CHURCH HAS CHANGED ITS NAME TO FCC AND NO LONGER EXISTS. WE EMPHASISE THAT ALL FAMILY OF GOD CHURCHES WORLDWIDE CONTINUE UNDER THE SAME NAME AND UMBRELLA.
5. We have also received testimony that in mid 2015, the Prophet fully briefed all the International Bishops, including the Bishop referred to above, and an elder ,of his prayerful decision to officially end his marriage, including confidential information on the issue. This Bishop assured the Prophet of his prayerful support, as did other Bishops. In February 2016 ,this Bishop , according to the testimony of more than one person, completely denied that he knew anything about these issues and went on into denouncing the Prophet and giving the impression that the Prophet was now practising false doctrine. As Bishops, most of us not having enjoyed the prior privilege of trust and information the Prophet gave him, we find this betrayal unbecoming of a fellow Bishop and an injurious deception to the people of God.
6. We have received reliable information that about four years ago, these two Bishops, And some pastors And leaders joined a misguided Facebook Project known as “Awake Church “and spearheaded by Lawrence Muzembi whose stated purpose was to destroy Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe, and whose strategy was to continually publish false and defamatory posts with people like Melody Chinouriri against Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe and the Family of God Churches. Strong claims have been made that this project is a homosexual and politically funded sponsored platform to destroy Prophet Wutawunashe and the Family of God for taking a stand that supports President Mugabe’s opposition to homosexuality .Apart from the false allegations of adultery, these posts included false accusations of financial abuse and not erecting any buildings for the work of God against Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe. On the weekend of launching, the FCC released an article in the publication Bulawayo 24 which gave false information alleging these same things against Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe as the main reasons for starting the FCC.
These false allegations also continue to be used by FCC leaders and members to subvert members from the Family of God Church.As Bishops of the Family of God Church we dissociate ourselves with these false allegations. We are witnesses of how Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe has laboured to build and to purchase many buildings both for the Revival and for other needy causes with very limited giving from God’s people, and of how he has innovated and stood in the mud leading God’s people in building for God with their hands in order to augment scant resources. Of late, Dr R F Wutawunashe has also furthered the cause of these deceptions by posting legal papers on Facebook which falsely imply that the properties of the Family of God Church are in actual fact privately owned by the Prophet and herself. As Bishops we have confirmed that all church properties of the Family of God Churches In all parts of the world are properly and legally registered as properties of the organisation. We exhort members of the Family of God Church not to be deceived by these coordinated falsehoods.
7. We have taken note that the choice allegation used by FCC to subvert people from the Family of God Church is that the Family of God Church now believes in and sanctions divorce and remarriage at will and against the teaching of the Bible, and that this is what Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe is doing. It is also claimed that those who stay in the Family of God Church will be mysteriously and supernaturally imparted to, a spirit of divorce. As Bishops of the Family of God Church we would like to categorically denounce these lies. The Family of God Church continues to believe in the Biblical doctrine of the sanctity of marriage and the forbidding of divorce and remarriage except in the special circumstances permitted by the Word of God. From our diligent enquiry towards Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe we are also fully convinced that Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe believes in these Biblical doctrines and has taken account of them before God in his decisions.
The Apostle consistently stated to all the Bishops and Pastors at the interactive meetings we held with him that he felt that there were details of the matter of his parting with Dr Wutawunashe that it was best in respect of Biblical teaching on Divine Order to keep confidential from all of us, but that we should trust him that the path he was taking satisfied the requirements of the Word of God. Although as Bishops we agreed with this position, due to the false information posted on social pages and on radio both by Dr R F Wutawunashe and by other operatives of the infamous project known as Awake Church, the Apostle insisted that he make confidential disclosure to two Bishops selected by ourselves of the circumstances surrounding his divorce, and evidenced by family and other individuals, and these would vouch to all the Bishops as to whether he satisfied the Word of God. THIS PROCESS WAS DONE AND AS BISHOPS WE ARE UNANIMOUSLY SATISFIED THAT APOSTLE ANDREW WUTAWUNASHE IS ACTING IN LINE WITH THE WORD OF GOD.
8. Further to this, we hereby as Bishops put it on record that the lack of integrity which led the two Bishops and their followers, as well as Dr RF Wutawunashe to introduce a culture of publicly accusing and mocking the Servant of God, has released a reproach and a curse upon many, and should be repented from. Publicly and even before the world, youths and little children were carelessly introduced to scandalous, false and often vulgar accusations against the Servant of God. We hereby dissociate ourselves from this arrogant and reckless disregard of the Word of God which demonstrates a dangerous absence of the fear of God. We note that many of the very same leaders deceiving God’s people onto this dangerous path were themselves raised and nurtured by Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe under a Biblical spiritual cover of confidentiality where their lives were restored in the Spirit of Christ from tremendous failures and sins.
We deplore the FCC error which seeks to train the new generation in the false doctrine that Christianity and building the Church of Jesus Christ means unveiling people’s sins and failures to the whole world and even creating false stories about other believers. We counsel all true Christians affected by this culture to return to the spirit of Divine order and honour to the Servants of God, and to restore the heart of God’s grace towards others in their lives.
