IN PICTURES: ZRP Cop Caught with Stolen Van, Arrested

Detective Constable Mudhumbu formerly CID Chiredzi, now at Beit bridge Border CID was on Tuesday caught in possession of a stolen mercedes benz from South Africa.
The detective had fraudulently cleared the car at the border and then driven it into Zimbabwe. He did not know that the car was under a tracking system back in SA and was arrested after a roadblock at Zaka turn off in Chiredzi while driving the luxurious van.

This memo serves to put facts on record that,

Circumstances:
On the 13 of June 2016 information was received from Detective Assistant Inspector Pedzisai of Interpol NCB Harare to the effect that there was a reported stolen vehicle a Mercedes Benz Viano Registration number CF68 BK , ENGINE 64697250257362 CHASIS WDF63981323268486 which was heading towards Triangle and it was stolen from South Africa by means of Carjacking.
INVESTIGATIONS:
Acting on the information received a team of Detectives from CID Triangle details from Support Unit Whisky Troop and dogs section teamed up to man a roadblock at 82km peg along Ngundu- Tanganda road. Upon arrival at the roadblock site the stolen motor vehicle passed before the team had settled. It was heading towards Chiredzi. The team then followed the motor vehicle towards Chiredzi and intercepted the vehicle at Zaka Turn Off where the vehicle was slowed down by ZRP Triangle DUB members who were on retention duties.The three accupants in the motor vehicle were arrested. The driver was accused one Enos Mudhumbu who is a serving member of the Police Force stationed at Criminal Investigations Department Beitbridge his force number is 046303D and is a detective constable The other two occupants were Pride Mushandu accused three who resides at house number 428 Ron Drive Chiredzi and is employed at Hippo Valley Chiredzi Marketing Department, Kudakwashe Murira accused four . The driver was interviewed in connection with the case of Theft of of the vehicle and he implicated Jonathan Nyumbuya accused two who was the recipient of the motor vehicle in Chiredzi. The team went to Chiredzi where they laid an ambush and arrested Jonathan Nyumbuya whom they interviewed in connection with the stolen motor vehicle and he stated that he was assigned by his young brother Lucas Chauke NFPK who stays in South Africa to receive the motor vehicle on his behalf.
OUTSTANDING
To have the accused persons and the recovered vehicle handed over to Interpol NCB Harare. Themba SAP SA case number 338/06/16 refers

  3. True. They have done it before and they know it works. And you see constables driving flashy cars or even owning minibuses and you wonder how they saved to buy these cars.

  5. This is not surprising. Zimbabwean police are thieves. That is why they arrested the herald reporter who reported on their poaching activities. This is so obvious for civil servants who are living in luxury, and are in a Government run by thugs. It is a contest of who is the most corrupt or who can steal more.
