Terrence Mawawa, Gutu | A pastor with a local church stole $ 200 cash meant for the construction of a church hall in Chivhu District.
There was furore at the Mugodhi Apostolic Faith Church meeting held in Gutu last week when the money which was donated towards the construction of the regilious institution’s hall disappeared.
The pastors present began to accuse each other of theft, leading to a thorough search. The money was found stashed in one Pastor Mubaiwa’s pockets.
The pastor immediately left the place in a huff following the altercation. According to Pastor Zvenyika who is one of the senior clergymen, the case was being dealt with by the responsible disciplinary committee. “I can confirm that some money went missing at the meeting held in the Mupako area in Gutu. One of our pastors was found in possession of the money so I have since informed Bishop Mugodhi about the whole issue. We are waiting to hear the final verdict because the matter has been referred to the disciplinary committee,” said Pastor Zvenyika.
Although Pastor Mubaiwa could not be reached for a comment, Pastor Zvenyika said the matter would be dealt with internally.
“The matter will be dealt with internally since there is a committee responsible for such matters,” he said.
