At at time when Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF is destroying itself through bitter purges, the MDC-T has firmly set its eyes on the upcoming 2018 elections beginning its first massive fund raising shows in the United Kingdom.
A team of officials led by Secretary General Douglas Mwonzora are on their way to be in England early in July in preparation for a massive music gala fund-raiser in the posh city of Oxford, ZimEye.com can reveal.
Fund-raising has become vital after the ZANU PF government strangled the MDC parties by failing to release up to $3million of political party funds as allocated by the Constitution.
The trip has been facilitated by the MDC-T party’s most organised branch, Oxford, led by the prolific chairman Chrispen Chamburuka who has outshined many both within and outside Zimbabwe. Oxford has for years financed the MDC party from its cashbook including ensuring that the party retains Thabitha Khumalo’s Bulawayo East constituency.
Accompanying Mwonzora is Treasurer General Theresa Makone, Abednico Bhebhe, and Deputy Spokesperson, Thabitha Khumalo.
The function will be held on the 1st August, at the large Exeter Hall, Oxford, OX5 1AB(picture below)

  1. I see you point but Tsvangirai did not fail to implement even one reform because he not educated and did not understand what he was supposed to do. He was reminded about the reforms and told not to take part in the elections without the reforms but refused to pay any heed.
Ever since Mugabe gave him the keys to the $4 million Highlands mansion Tsvangirai kicked all reforms into the tall grass and for five years made sure not even one reform was implemented. In short Tsvangirai and his MDC friend including very well educated individuals like lawyers Tendai Biti, Chamisa and David Coltart, Professors Ncube and Mutanbara sold out to Mugabe.
It is either that you do not understand what happened or you are politically naive to understand that holding failed leaders is absolutely necessary for a healthy and functioning democracy. You want democracy but you have no clue how democracy works.
In this case we have corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent leaders it is a must that they are never again entrusted with power.
Zimbabwe has wasted a golden opportunity to end the Zanu PF dictatorship during the GNU we cannot afford to waste another chance especially by electing the same corrupt and incompetent leaders.
If you do not understand that then it must be because you are thick. We do have more than our fair share of nincompoops and that is exactly why we are in this mess. You are just one of them!

  3. Well Wilbert i think the problem with us Zimbabweans is that we just sit back and expect Tsvangirai to just get us out of this mess whilst we sit at home and distance ourselves from any active participation towards emancipation of our rights and freedoms and at the end of the day when things do not fall into place we blame the person that has been leading us towards this cause. Zimbabwe boasts of so many educated and highly intellectual figures but only the not so educated Tsvangirai had the guts to go against the government so i think we should really give him credit and stop looking at politics from a shallow minded perspective. OWKEY WILBERT …

  5. Incompetent and corrupt people like Tsvangirai are not to be trust, I know that from my experience during the war!

  7. Tsvangirai is trying to maintain a lifestyle befitting one living in a $4 million mansion; do know how difficult that is on zero income! Never mind the elections whatever the members manage to raise Tsvangirai will be desperate to lay his hands on some of it!

  9. It is MDC who failed to implement the reforms and thus landed us all in this mess; I hope you are not looking to Comrade Tsvangirai coming up with anything “revolutionary and progressive”. He failed to get even one reform implemented because he is corrupt and incompetent; you will never get anything “revolutionary and progressive” from some one like that!

  11. Now that all the donors have deserted the party, MDC members will have to hold even more dinner parties every month especially if the party leader, Tsvangirai, has to enjoy the lifestyle befitting one living in a $4 million mansion. He likes playing golf, glob-trotting, spend a couple of weeks on the Legend of the Sea or some such Sea Cruise Liner in the company of women of ill repute, etc. but has zero income so he is looking forward to the members digging deep!

  13. Fund raising for what elections? MDC-T has just said it is boycotting elections until reforms are implemented, what makes Mwonzora think the reforms will ever be implemented!?

  15. No offence but i personally am of the notion that something has to be done soon because 2018 is too far. Our opposition should start looking into more revolutionary and aggressive perspectives because at the rate at which things are going we cannot wait three years for an election which will probably be rigged. Its time we stand up for our rights.. All Zimbabweans are not happy with the current political and economic stalemate but what they need is a strong opposition that will lead them towards attainment of their rights and freedoms. This is no longer time for theories we need action and sacrifices have to be made. I think one resource base that our opposition is not utilizing to the fullest is the students in tertiary institutes as they can be a massive drive factor towards a revolution.
