Retired judge and former Judge President, Justice Wilson Sandura has died.  He was 74.

Justice Sandura died at the Avenues Clinic in Harare where he was receiving treatment after being involved in an accident on the 27th of February this year.

A legal practitioner, Tendai Ammon Toto described the retired judge as a professional who left a legacy in the law profession and the country at large. Toto said the law profession has learnt the death of Justice Sandura with shock, saying there is no doubt he contributed immensely in post independence Zimbabwe’s law development.

Justice Sandura retired from the bench on the 29th of July 2011 at the age of 70.  In 1989, he became prominent when he presided over a commission to investigate the abuse of office by government officials in acquiring motor vehicles through Willowvale motors.  The high profile case became known as the Willowgate scandal.

  1. Sorry to disappoint you…I’m not guilty of anything; I don’t believe in extra-judicial justice!! Ndinotya Mwari, ufunge.
My question still remains: saka vanhu havachafanirwa kufa nema-accidents here muZim??!! In any case, was there ever a story linking Sandura to Mujuru, or it’s just the lazy speculation of s/body with a fertile imagination??!! From the calibre of person that he was, Sandura wouldn’t have openly sided with any politicians; after all I remember during the Willowgate scandal that he reminded some “chefs” such as Dzingai Mutumbuka [then Education minister] that they were not bigger than the law!!
By the way, the belief that each & every accident is caused by ZPF carries the same logic as s/one deciding that “I’ll never fly on an aeroplane coz there was recently an air disaster that killed all passengers on board!!”

  7. Probably taken out because of his allegience to Mutasa and Mujuru. The fear would have been “perhaps he is guiding them”. Jus for that, one has to go.
