LIVE FROM HARARE: More than 500 people have converged in Harare on Saturday at the National Constitutional Assembly’s annual congress.
The organisation seeking to fill the political space, has resolved to morph itself into a new political party.

By 1430Hrs, longtime NCA leader Lovemore Madhuku had been unilaterally endorsed as the interim leader of the new party which will continue to use the name NCA until another congress slated for March 2014.
The crowd many were not bused, but came at their own expense.
The party is Pan-Africanist and upholds social democracy as its ideology.
Most MDC officials did not attend. Observers however included Job Sikhala, and leaders from PTUZ, ISO, PYD, ZCTU organisations.
The party resolved that the current national taskforce, top four (4) from the regional executive committees plus the 120 constituency chairpersons and others are to be co-opted into leadership
The leadership structure has seventeen (17) members subject to review. Each branch will have a minimum of 50 and maximum of 100 members.

  3. It’s only that he has legitimacy issues. He’s the kind of leader needed. We couldn’t have been Nikuved had he been there becoz he’s not afraid of being at the frontline.
    Zanu needs to be confronted head on NCA & Woza style. Only that we are brainwashed. My problem with him started when I heard that his trip to Moza was bankrolled by Zanu. If other confrontational cadres join him I’ll support their party because no other party will win an election from 2018 onwards coz the die is now cast in favour of Zanu PF. They will never be removed thru the ballot.

  6. All the best prof. I think u have given this project yo all in terms of brainstorming.the zim political terrain u are quite aware of it. Yo potential pool of supporters are thoz who believe in an alternative to zpf.your agenda again is not very different from that of mdc.t just lyk prof welsh’s party.and all this it is my view u are likely to subtract from mt. This again gives zpf a lifeline. But thoz are are purely my thoughts after all it is yo right to form a political party.but prof had u put aside yo ego and realised that humans here and there will diverge on archieving similar goals.u have had yo differances wit the mdc.t.but yo agenda still lies in that party. .infact yo brains myt be that missing link.just imagine if u had negotiated yo way into the mdc. T standing committe.dont ask me how morgan shuld realise he has failed wit his standing committe.so it needs a shake up to instill confidance to the frustrated grassroots. So some in the standing committe myt need to be demote & also that committe needs to be expanded from the current 14 to at least 25.u are needed in that set up prof same as welsh , simba makoni,brian kagoro, etc.the struggle is about dislodging thoz we all kno have failed and replacing them wit a viable alternative. Cdes we need each other if we are serious.fragmentation of progressive forces has seriously potholed our road to cannan.the struggle is not about MT. Welsh,Simba,Madhuku,Dabengwa, NO.it is about us all. Think of poor peasants in rural areas who are cheated by zpf every election season.they cant afforfd decent meals. They cant sent chln to school. Chln are malnourished.there is no hope. In urban areas youths are redudant , no jobs no hope. Life is difficult. Lives were lost prof madhuku. Let us not betray thoz souls by trying to soothe our personal egos. Mai chiroto died but pleadership was reckless to the extent of suspending chiroto.we could do better.chipiyo’s son died but mt forgot bout this and fired my experienced mayor . We could do better. Madhuku u formed this party. Mt forgot bout this and yo clashes were too raw fo people wit a common agenda. U are educated proff , have mercy on zimbos.
